#no hate towards fanon

Okay, so, y'know how Jason Todd in fanon is normally depicted as a hothead who just explodes with anger? That's... Not actually Jason... At least in canon. People think he has an explosive temper when that's far from the truth. Example, the Lost Days (and UtRH) storyline. Instead of going after Bruce immediately after learning the Joker is alive and there's another Robin, he makes a plan to control Gotham first. He simmers in his anger. He waits, and he plans, and he executes that plan when the time comes. Sure, in the moment he seems like he has an explosive temper, but that's actually weeks to months worth of anger coming out at the same time.
Jason Todd is actually more like Batman than people think he is. Like, the similarities are long. That's why Jason, Artemis, and Bizarro are called the Dark Trinity (plus that they're all from each of the original Trinity's mythos'), and why Jason is the leader. Artemis of Bana-Mighdall has an explosive temper, so she can't lead (plus, while the most sensible, she doesn't fully understand the concept of extreme planning, like WW). Jason Todd, has a calm and calculative reaction to horrible situations, that he allows himself to feel later. Like Batman, except when he feels it, he's not useless like Batman is at the time.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Cw: Me being a straight up hater. So if you don't like negativity, don't read it.
How regulus became the defacto ignored and unwanted son of the Black family in this fandom, when he was anything but, will forever be my villain origin story. In the books he was the favorite, because he was the golden child to sirius' black sheep. It was a point of conflict for the brothers. It's hard seeing every fic in the fandom painstakingly paint regulus as this loser child with no power and no guts, as this undesirable runt of the litter. As this nobody delulu within the family that everyone wants to forget exists. Huh? Who even is this dude I'm reading about?
Like i get it sirius is cool and charming! He was beautiful and larger than life!
But literally why does regulus have to be this shunned, shamed, and despised son so that Sirius can be the "true favorite"?? That's not true though.
I hate this trope so fucking much. From where did we pull this shit out off? Especially when it's so obscene. I HATE IT SO MUCH.
I mean there's some stuff where the brothers think the other is the favorite, and that makes sense too. But mostly, it's all about how regulus was never relevant until sirius left (but book sirius would have been saying quite the different thing to harry if that'd been the case).
This probably tops the list of things i hate about fanon marauders 😔. Probably because so much of it comes from the "FOIL-ification" of regulus for sirius' sake, the same way hardcore sirius stans demand that the only right characterization of regulus is to be a loser, because cool traits mean making sirius into regulus (as if i haven't seen enough of this shit from other blogs).
Reading paragraph upon paragraph of how regulus will never amount to Sirius and how he walks the halls of their home like a ghost because he's the "spare" makes me sick istg. And walburga punishing him for not being like sirius??? When did this happen???? I hate it god i hate it so much.

Hilarious that the only four reactions I’ve seen to the Teen Wolf movie are as such:
- we can sterek truther about this
- I like the movie because (in depth meta analysis about themes, arcs, and tone and what makes a meaningful story)
- where is stiles who I was told ad nauseam would not be in the movie. this is literally homophobia

Same anon as before abt pama, I can’t remember if I sent this already or chickened out but do you have any thoughts on how they shared a dorm in the games………. ?Like how that might’ve looked.. the player never got to see the inside of the dorms but like. I’m thinking about it.
huh wow yknow i never actually thought of that idea 🤔 although it WOULD make a lot of sense. tbh considering our luck with this game i think jesse would probably be paired up with petra while lukas and ivor have to dhare their own dorm, assuming they live in doubles. and im honestly not opposed to that possibility either 🥱 just because 1) i adore lukas and ivor's relationship and their silly banter 2) i think that jesse and petra's friendship wouldve been so cute and awesome if the game just handled it better, just cause they couldve been such bros and 3) it leaves the opportunity for jesse and lukas to sneak away to see each other 😁 i REALLY enjoy that idea ngl, this is what i love about fanon

Dunno if this is a boring take or interesting, but:
I don't particularly hate any transformers character. Sure, there are morally gray ones that i think could've been better written. Sure, there's characters who have been pretty nasty to others and committed inexcusable crimes for the hell of it. Sure there are characters that have very little relevance or and kinda plain. There are characters who are very annoying and that the fandom hate for reasons I don't know. There are characters that are abusive pricks that the plot and other characters seem to like.
But, I don't hate any of them. Why? I understand that they are fictional. They walk where we say they walk, it's our hands up their asses and talking through their voice, we are the ones who meticulously design them and decide who they are. If a character is a bad person, it's because we want them to be, that that's how they fit into the plot. You can tell what characters are the author's least favorite, who's the least favorite, who's based on people they know, who's based on stereotypes and harmful depictions, who is destined to be cannon fodder. Call it an odd sense of reality, but I just don't give enough of a fuck to truly and honestly hate a character. I limit my hatred to real people, and prefer to keep it out of my escapism.

feeling like the can I please have a waffle meme over c!benchtrio
“Can I have my closure? Can I PLEASE have my closure?”
I’m at the diner countertop. It is dark and the night is dreadfully damp. The buses are all closed and my car is out of gas, and as I wait for the day to dawn and grant me the light to find my way back home, I sit here, alone and helpless, pleading ever gracefully with cc!Beeduo to give me something. Something. Something, anything at all to hold me over until sunrise.
They’re not even sure if they work here anymore. cc!Tubbo has hung up his apron and is fucking around on his phone. cc!Ranboo puts the apron on, but it feels like it’s just a joke where my investment is a punchline.
I just want a fucking waffle. Why would they promise me waffles if they ain’t gonna give me the damn waffles?! Why? What did I do!!

Vox and Alastor’s Dynamic is so FUN
Tumblr media
Hazbin Hotel Season 1 Episode 2 Spoilers ahead!
I have to talk about Vox and Alastor’s “rivalry”. I love how Alastor just couldn’t care less, he’s witty, he’s emotionless and that makes him all the more powerful.
Well, not emotionless since he does express outward disgust towards anything digital, but the fact he can keep himself composed because he knows he is the shit and that’s what makes him my absolute favorite.
That showed through in the pilot and the show didn’t fail to deliver. I love how he’s handled. Viv’s characterization is wonderful.
Most fics I have read with Alastor have shown him as vunerable despite the story never alluding to that and it’s such a breath of fresh air to have canon content of Alastor being his authentic self.
My god do I love a character that’s strong and not swayed by emotion, but they can be handled well too. I.E. VOX oh my god. Every fanon had him pegged down as the victim to Val’s wrath, but he’s the mastermind behind the scenes. A complete subversion of everyone’s expectations. And that’s for another post I’m about to go crazy on, but I digress.
Vox is a man up in his ivory electronic tower with villainous intentions, but he falls short because of emotion!
Handling Velvet’s demands to get Val together? A quick pep talk with himself and he’s got it.
Addressing unforeseen circumstances with concerned sinners? Easy.
But Alastor?
He sees RED. He let Valentino have it when he even thought about going on a rampage over a sinner under his thumb.
When it comes to Alastor, Vox goes on a hate campaign and makes a fool of himself.
Meanwhile, Alastor was minding his business, and Vox couldn’t deal with that.
So much so he causes a blackout in the Wrath ring!
Why? Because of his rejection sensitivity.
He is this all powerful overlord with companions in his rule and when he asks someone of similar station to become his equal he gets rejected.
It’s unheard of for him. He cannot fathom it.
Tumblr media
Because that makes Alastor a factor he cannot control.
Val says that Alastor “almost beat him”. Val may not have witnessed that fight and Vox spun it around to claim he came out on top.
But if he did, he definitely wouldn’t let Alastor get away.
Valentino and Vox have known each other for a long time, as shown in a photo in the background in the episode.
Tumblr media
So either this spat began before they had met and Vox lied or Valentino witnessed it. I'm excited to see which way that goes.
In terms of influence, Alastor seems to win that battle. Vox is in charge of electrical currents and anything in the digital space.
Alastor is so far removed from that Vox has no influence over him. He refuses to be involved with new technology.
But with Vox having an army of sinners under his wing through subliminal messaging, he had security and power.
With Alastor’s return he brings CHARISMA and he’s doing it SO FUCKING WELL.
This is not a battle, it’s a slaughter, and Alastor is WINNING. With television there are so many ways to captivate a viewer but with radio all the host has is their voice and personality. It all has to be shown in a medium that doesn’t have many options for uniqueness.
Tumblr media
Alastor defends himself with grace. He throws out compliments to his fellow overlords while still having it be a slight to the man who began the fight.
THE Vs ARE PREENING AT HIS PRAISE. THIS MAN IS GOATED.
Tumblr media
It's night and day, but that's probably because Valentino and Velvet are tired of Vox's shit. I love this parallel so much!
Tumblr media
Vox needed to be the person he was with Valentino at all times if this is a battle he wants to win, but he’s so bitter he will never see that.
He’s stubborn and that’s his main flaw.
And I fucking love it.
Alastor knows what he’s thinking and how to avoid it.
Always a step ahead. And their duet showcases that perfectly.
Alastor uses his opponent’s power against them, seeing the slanderous TV campaign and immediately going on air.
He does that in the pilot as well and seeing that this has become a habit for him is so fun to see.
Alastor is not to be messed with and I feel like people decided to gloss over that. But it’s so in your face you cannot deny it.
Alastor is TERRIFYING with a chilling deposition that will give you nightmares if you dare cross him.
Give him the respect he fucking deserves.
And the music and the visuals of the song — A whole fucking masterpiece.
I’m in love with their dynamic so far and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
So far Vox is the obsessed fanatic that couldn’t handle rejection.
There has to be more than that.

Okay but actually. With the hints of lore surrounding the secret keeper I think it’s important that we remember this:
The watchers have only ever been life series canon to Martyn’s POV.
I think it’s important because of two reasons
1) there’s a chance we are going to get some lore that doesn’t fit exactly with Martyn’s version of the watcher lore and/or the fanon that has spun from it
2) that said, with the nod towards Evo in the build of the secret keeper and the general vibe of “there is a being that holds some kind of power over the players on this server”, it could be that all of them (or at least Grian, who at the end of the day is in charge of the life series) are leaning into the watcher lore and/or the idea of the series needing lore at all.
Either way I am looking at this and thinking some fans are going to start discourse over this. Whether it be because this is “inconsistent with previously established canon” that’s actually just fanon spun from something that is only canon to one POV, or because people are in general resistant to lore in the series. They’re going to kick up a fuss and you bet they’ll do so loudly where the CCs can see them.
This is a huge step for the series and we need to acknowledge that! We didn’t have world building like this that is universally canon until Secret Life. It’s massive! Even if we get no more lore than we have now, this is still a shift in how the series as a whole has worked in the past.
With that in mind I think it’s very important that we as a fandom - and especially the side of the fandom that is on tumblr and loves to lean into the lore of mcyt - do a few things in the coming weeks:
Stay open minded with the new lore. If it does contradict Martyn’s watcher canon/Evo canon/watcher fanon we CANNOT blame Grian or the CCs behind the life series as a whole for that. Be cool, people. Remember that this is a creative project that is still unfolding. Embrace any potential changes or at least don’t hate on the creators for making them.
Let the creators know that you are enjoying this direction for the series! You know how their hermits for the most part think that the fandom hater the moon big/s8 lore just because the reddit side of the fandom did? Yeah, let’s not let that happen here, okay? Comment on the videos of all your POV creators to tell them how excited you are about this - especially Martyn and Grian! Grian because he’s in charge of the series and the direction it takes after this season will be up to him. Martyn because… like, come on. Friends. His limlife ending was Good it was narratively cohesive and fitting for his character, but he’s still getting hate over it. Let’s bring some love to the guy that brought watcher lore to the traffic series in the first place, okay?

I do not want, you may well understand, to proceed today to a critique of the colonial system. I do not intend as a colonized man, speaking to colonized people, to demonstrate that the colonial state is an abnormal, inhuman and reprehensible state. It would be grotesque on my part to want to convince you of the unacceptable nature of colonial oppression. However, I would like to focus my reflections on the violence integral to colonial oppression.
The colonial regime is a regime instituted by violence. It is always by force that the colonial regime is established. It is against the will of the people that other peoples more advanced in the techniques of destruction or numerically more powerful have prevailed. I say that such a system established by violence can logically only be faithful to itself, and its duration in time depends on the continuation of violence.
But the violence which is in question here is not an abstract violence, it is not only a violence perceived by the spirit, it is also a violence manifested in the daily behaviour of the colonizer towards the colonized: apartheid in South Africa, forced labour in Angola, racism in Algeria. Contempt, a politics of hate, these are the manifestations of a very concrete and very painful violence.
Colonialism, however, is not satisfied by this violence against the present. The colonized people are presented ideologically as a people arrested in their evolution, impervious to reason, incapable of directing their own affairs, requiring the permanent presence of an external ruling power. The history of the colonized peoples is transformed into meaningless unrest, and as a result, one has the impression that for these people humanity began with the arrival of those brave settlers.
Violence in everyday behaviour, violence against the past that is emptied of all substance, violence against the future, for the colonial regime presents itself as necessarily eternal. We see, therefore, that the colonized people, caught in a web of a three-dimensional violence, a meeting point of multiple, diverse, repeated, cumulative violences, are soon logically confronted by the problem of ending the colonial regime by any means necessary.
[...]
In certain colonies, the violence of the colonized is the last gesture of the hunted man, meaning that he is ready to defend his life. There are colonies which fight for freedom, independence, for the right to happiness. In 1954, the Algerian people took up arms because at that point the colonial prison became so oppressive that it was no longer tolerable, because the hunt was definitely on for Algerians in the streets and in the countryside and because, finally, it was no longer a question for the Algerian of giving a meaning to his life but rather of giving one to his death.
[...]
What we are saying is that we need to close our ranks. It is necessary that our voice should be powerful not only by being vigorous but also for the concrete measures that could be taken against this or that colonial state.
[...]
No, the violence of the Algerian people is neither a hatred of peace nor a rejection of human relations, nor a conviction that only war can put an end to the colonial regime in Algeria. The Algerian people have chosen the unique solution that was left to them and this choice will hold firm to us.
Frantz Fanon - Why We Use Violence, address to the Accra positive action conference, 1960 (translated by Robert J. C. Young)

Vent post y'all are gonna hate me for.
I viscerally hate how the Duffers treat most of their non white or queer characters and I hate even more viscerally, how y'all big byler blogs in your circle jerk of other 5 big byler blogs casually like to ignore many red flags the show has.
Y'all like to say: "tHe DufFeRs ArE gReAt WrIteRs" and it's like girl, who are you lying to??? They aren't top shit writers at all. The Duffers are pretty mid imo. Yeah, they run a good show that's fun to watch and theorize abt , but that doesn't mean they're good writers cuz they're not.
1. they completely side lined Will during s3 for the sake of their straight romances: lumax, jancy, mlvn, duzie and partly stobin (even if stobin wasn't endgame, thankfully, Steve's intentions were clearly wanting to date Robin and they gave it a lot of screen time). Will was sidelined bc he didn't fit the straight romance plotline bc they planned to make him gay or whatever. Now in s4 Will and his feelings have been used as mlvn toilet paper. Yes, we like to say this is build up for byler but canonically, Will's feelings have been used to clean the shit mlvn leaves behind.
2. Billy was sympathized a lot during the last 2 seasons. They gave him the sad backstoryTM in order for ppl to feel sorry for him. Billy's backstory is literally Jonathan's but whatever.
3. El's anger issues are constantly girlboss-ified. They down play her bullying situation and literally just use it for El to be a ''girlboss" without realizing how triggering that is. As someone who has lived bullying, seeing it be ignored by canon and fanon is super sad. The whole Rink-O' Mania experience must have been so traumatizing for her yet, everyone absolutely forgets abt it 🤷🏻‍♀️
4. Robin, Erica and Argyle are stereotypical characters. Robin is the quirky lesbian with social anxiety, Erica is the badass black woman and Argyle is the Latino stoner that sells weed to white kids and works as a pizza delivery guy.
5. Altho Argyle and Eddie both do drugs, (Eddie actually sells K-12 to a minor and nobody batted an eye. He has a huge fan base). Eddie is held in a pedestal bc "poor thing 🥺 he lives in a trailer with his uncle 🥺". Tell me a single fact you know abt Argyle that isn't "he smokes weed", "he is Jonathan's only friend", "drives a van" and "he works at a pizzeria". Exactly, Eddie is given a useless backstory and Argyle isn't.
6. Dustin stopped being important to the plot sometime around s2 and s3. He is only there to curse and be mildly funny. My guy needs to hangout with ppl his age cuz he only hangs out with seniors.
7. El needs to stop having so much "I'M THAT BITCH" screentime like I need in s5 for El's arc to not just be her becoming more powerful and falling in love with Mike. I need the Duffers to explore her trauma and problems.
8. Angela should have been run over by the van.
9. Patrick should have been given a backstory that isn't the basic "strict black parents that hit their kids cuz they are a disgrace". Patrick's backstory is actually racist af, fight w the wall.
10. As Lex already said, they didn't trigger tag the ep where Jason and his friends assault Lucas and Erica. Like wtf? Why was that necessary? Why did I have to see a black boy being held at gunpoint by some white guy?? Was it relevant to the plot?? I don't think so. And then I've got to see ppl online be like "Jason wasn't that bad. He was just mourning" like bitch you can stfu. This is what happens when you make the racist assholes conventionally attractive.
Also the fact that Lucas's arc is fulfilled by him fist-fighting Jason and "embracing his weirdness" aka accepting he is black. His arc was not fulfilled at all cuz that ending spoke so loud to me. It showed how little empathy ppl have towards the struggles poc ppl living in the Midwest have. Y'all circle jerks can only see racism when it's super obvious.
Furthermore, parents complained when ST showed "an excessive amount of smoking" yet nobody batted an eye when Billy tried to run over Lucas, when Erica (an 11 y.o ffs) was chased by white kids or when Lucas was held at gunpoint by Jason.
All of this happened while they focused on Max's guilt and mourning that, yeah, are important but certainly not less important than racism!!!
11. In s3, they gave us that whole Nancy vs The Bigots arc that was honestly just triggering and useless. It didn't help Nancy's character at all, quite the opposite it put unnecessary angst.
12. Lonnie being presented as an abuser just for him to never be spoken of again. Can we please get to explore the trauma he left the Byers's with?
13. The fact that both queer relationships are considered "sloppy seconds" is extremely sad. Both Vickie and Mike are rebounding from their failed relationship with Robin and Will. These 2 ships have caused more commotion than Jancy and Jopper together! (These last ships are technically sloppy seconds too but everybody forgets that. Shocker!!)
14. Last but not least, ppl blame Argyle for being the one to get Jonathan into smoking weed as if Jonathan probably wasn't the one looking for it. Let me tell you, that you only find weed if you look for it.

That fanon trope the Naruto fandom has about Sasuke hating women is so weird to me. Sasuke just doesn't have a special attitude towards women the way some characters like Naruto, who fixate on their attraction to them, do. And he doesn't demean women like Shikamaru and other explicitly misogynist characters,,, Sasuke literally just treats everyone the same and if he's critical of someone that happens to be a girl,, it is never because they are a girl.
