Honestly, it's bothering and saddening me to see how pretentious some people in the DPS fandom are being because of an album title. The Tortured Poets Department isn't even out yet, calm down. It might not even be that inspired by DPS, the titles might just sound similar. There are already swifties here. Exhibit a: me. A good majority of DPS edits I see are to/inspired by a Taylor Swift song (or a song by The Smiths). Let's be happy some new people will potentially join us (I haven't even seen swifties enter the DPS fandom in mass droves like some of you are acting has happened) and possibly be introduced to some queer themes DPS has to offer (some of those are in Tay's music too btw, on purpose or not). [Edit: I initially left this fact out of this post, but in hindsight, I think it's important to remember that DPS is not textually queer and all its subtext very well might be accidental. That doesn't mean that it's not there or doesn't matter. I totally believe it does; author's intent matters, but so does interpretation. As long as you have textual evidence that some kind of subtext is present, you can't/shouldn't be told you're wrong. But it's not purely a queer movie. Therefore, DPS is not a "queers only" thing; not even a lot of textually queer movies are "queer only". The movie was made for all kinds of audiences, including straight people.] And I'm not always super knowledgeable on these things… but everyone being worried about “straight white girls in my fandom😩” feels somewhat misogynistic. As in, it reminds me of James Somerton making up white women in his comments section to be mad at. Some of you are making up stupid white girl swifties to be mad at. We already enjoy things like looking into poetry, just like you all. Let's not act like Folklore and Evermore don't exist, which are also poetry-inspired albums. There's honestly already some commonality with the fandoms, which is probably why both appeal to me. But even if there weren't, that shouldn't be why people can't like a movie and enter online spaces where people talk about said movie. And not all swifties are straight white girls. Once again, exhibit a: me. I'm not straight or white, but I am a girl. It just really sucks to see, especially since this movie is all about not being so stuck up and stuffy like the teachers at Welton or Neil's father. This movie's against the toxic academia some of you are seemingly pushing.

neil and ginny hcs (ft todd and chris)

because i'm writing a chris x ginny fic at the moment, i've decided to write some neil and ginny friendship headcanons because i feel like they'd be cute friends (this might be a little bit too niche lol)

also!! these hcs take place after the play which mr perry never finds out about and neil is alive and well (he's still getting abused by his father but y'know, you can't win them all)

-they are THE chaotic theatre nerd friends

-they always take todd and chris on double dates

-they're always quoting shakespeare at each other

-sometimes ginny will sneak into welton on weekends to hang out with neil (sometimes chris will come with her and neil, todd, ginny and chris will just chill in the woods doing literally nothing but still have a great time)

-everyone thinks they're a couple and they usually play into it because it's the 50s and homophobia is a bitch

-they are the best fucking dancers. they tear up the dance floor from complex choreographed routines to the best damn waltz you've ever seen (chris and todd sometimes dance together as well but their eyes are always on their partners)

-the danburrys adore neil, whenever he comes over they always ask him how he's doing

-theyre probably the type of people to have shakespeare themed nicknames for everyone else to gossip about them is secret

-they fake date and when neil introduces ginny to his father, she almost punched him in the face

-when ginny brought neil over, he almost punched chet who was giving her shit

-in the future, neil and ginny go to award shows together while todd and chris chill at home with ice cream and watch it on tv cheering them on constantly while on the phone with at least one of the other poets

-they have one of those houses that connect at the basement so neil and todd live in one and chris and ginny in the other, when someone comes over, one person switches houses so it looks like two straight couples living next door

-they try to work together as much as they can, often taking plays as a duo and are infamous for it

-neil (+todd) has two cats called will and walt, ginny (+chris) has a golden retriever called michael

-ginny and neil conspired the name of their dog, chris hated the name but then todd (her partner in crime) started using michael for the dog too and she gave up, accepting her fate (ginny was very happy)

-they has to kiss once for a play and they would always try to make each other break during rehearsal and it became a challenge of who could make who laugh first

-ginny won

hey all! on the survey i sent out after last year's chrisginny week, i asked how y'all would like the prompts to be chosen. the majority said they'd like to vote on prompts, while many also said that they'd like to suggest prompts themselves. so: i'll combine the two!

please send in prompt ideas via asks to this blog (@chrisginnyweek) (can be anon if needed)! then, we can vote on them as a community via polls. i haven't figured out exactly how that's gonna work, but i'll work that out soon. in total, we'll end up with seven prompts for seven days of the week.
