Sasuke Uchiha : He just forgets everything that is going on when he's having a hard time and you kiss his forehead. After the reboot he is right away able to think and analyze what is happening properly around him. You just got this power to soothe him and help him get out of these negative thoughts. And he knows how to return the favor in his own way when you're the one stuggling

Shikamaru Nara : Being an adult is such a drag. Work is such a drag too. So when he finally has time to have time for himself and chill under the clouds he can't help but keep thinking about other matters. So when you join him and put his head on your thighs and untie his hair before ruffling his hair. In an instant he feels his brain pause, unable to think anymore, his eyes just looking at the shapes of the clouds in the sky above you, enjoying his day off, occasionally looking your way to make sure he isn't dreaming. He's just so thankfull to have a little marvel like you in his life

Naruto Uzumaki : He is a simple man so just seeing you wearing his iconic black and orange jacket make butterflies erupt and happily fly in his stomach while he can't help but freeze in his action. You just look so small in this jacket it makes him want to carry you around on his back like a little backpack so bad - yes if he ever catch you he'd walk around the village with you like that. So you better try to avert other people's gaze because you ain't gettting down anytime soon

Iruka Umino : You're his first so when you bury your face in his neck or chest he needs a little minute or two to process that you're touching him. Willingly and physically - oof O.O But he loves it so much because like this he feels like he can protect you from everything the world send your way

Sai : He always takes such a great intake of air when he feels your hand press on his naked lower back and caress his pale skin. Of course he knows it's affectionate but he still feels like he needs to hold his breath. Sometimes you have to remind him to breath because he starts turning blue and that's actually never good

Hidan : The sight before him that always leave him breathless is when he sees your necklace dangling from your robe when your fiercly fighting your opponent. Should he add, his necklace that he gave you shortly after your meeting to the glory of Jashin. Once he took a hit in the jaw because of how entranced by you he was. He knows you may not approach this god the same way as him but he can't help but find you so sexy fighting with him for his believes. And should I add how strong you look when you're getting those corps ready for his ritual

Sasori : He always think about work so if you wanna make him aware of your existence you better be speak his language... and not make him wait. So everytime you come up with another corpse of a powerfull being for his puppets, he can't help but look at you with stars in the eyes as his brains fuel with all the ideas that come to him and… he doesn't work anymore and he stays fixed in the void. You know he is kinda happy when let's go of his tool and motion for you to sit on his lap while he works. And oddly having you here with him doesn't make him think one scond that he is losing his time

Itachi Uchiha : He's just on autopilot when you lift his shirt from behind and put your hands on his shoulders before massaging his aching muscles gently. Like he leaves you in charge of him and the rest he can't handle, not that he cares when your hands are just literally easing his pain like this. You've always been with him from what he recalls and he never manages to keep a conversation with you while your hands work on his shoulders and back. It just puts him to sleep right away, and that's good because he deserves it

Gaara : The wheels in his brain just stop when he hears you say the words "Dance with me" just after you put on some music and pulled pulls him flush against your body and asked him for a slow dance. His brain gets surrounded by so much questions like "Is he worthy of your time ?", "Will he disappoint you ?", "Will you hate him after you discover he CAN'T dance ?" that his brain overheats and he stands there motionless while you try to dance with him. Fortunately a kiss on the cheek and it's good he works again, but he is as red as his hair

Hashirama Senju : You tell him so much that he is strong that he sometimes forgets how strong you actually are. So when he sees you fighting an opponent fiercely, he can't help but look at you in awe as if you were Madara himself the strongest kunoichi he has ever seen. He just 🤩 and shower you with praises

Tobirama Senju : He may be really gifted to hide his feelings but gosh he can't help his face from showing how stuned he is when he sees you acting possessive towards him. Like the glare you send those people who dares to get to close to him. Like he could just ask them to leave him the fuck off but he just loves to see you this mad... it's kinda hot you know... but this he won't tell you

Kakashi Hatake : He always freezes and stares at you as if he was trying to bore holes into the top of your head when he sees you get on your knees in front of him at unexpected times. Like literally everywhere you know no one will walk in on you, on a hill, in the forest, on the training grounds, in the Hokage office... but it doesn't mean you're going to actually do something. You just love to see him all hot and botherd like this. But don't you worry he's going to get back at you sooner than you expected

Orochimaru : Really very little can get to him but when he sees you acting so cold and violent, he can't help but have his piercing eyes widen or his head wipe in your direction if he hears you cursing at someone. Yamato : His brain really needs time to process when you go to him and ask him to zip up the back of your dress. Like bro is so flustered, but you're not helping either because you enjoy seeing squirm while trying to avert his eyes from your ass when you're wiggling it at him. After this he has to try so bad to stay cool and not have a hard on just before you guys leave your house. Don't worry he'll keep this in mind for when you get bad though

Deidara : You love the high pitched screams that come out of his mouth when you do that. Sometimes he doesn't know what gets into you for doing this and frankly you neither. But you just take his hand and lick his palm where one of his other mouths is and well he can't say it's not turning him on but still he's an artist his mind shouldn't get clouded with those thoughts... "Fine just this time" he always says that

Neji Hyuga : He is so pure and he is always flabbergasted when you tell dirty jokes about his Byakugan and the fact that he can at any given moment look through your clothes "Hey Love are you enjoying the view" and he's like ". . . . . . . . . Y/n my eye are always this colour" "Then how can I know you're not perving all the time ?" you always end up laughing your ass off when he becomes red as a tomato and just stares anywhere but at you. He knows you're joking but if you only knew what he was thinking about "A little look wouldn't hurt right ?"

Rock Lee : Okay so hear me out everytime he says he's going to go around the village 500 times on his hands if he doesn't do somethig else before you always add playfully "and if you can't do it either you're going to make me cum 20 times tonight" Of course each single time he gets red and starts stuttering... but be careful because one day he'll fail his task on purpose just to make your fiction a reality and the only think you're going to be able to utter will be his name

Madara Uchiha : He is also a simple man in his own way. All he needs to mentally disconnect from this planet is for you to grab his neck with your hand when when you guys are kissing. Like you just look so hot and sexy when you're on top of him taking control like this. But don't play your luck to much because he's going to fold you in half next time he fucks you

Genma : His brain shuts straight when you leans into him and and take the senbon that he holds in his mouth with your teeth. Looks like a person gave you some type of offer, and then left you hanging in some way. Or you had something with someone and they betrayed you possibly. They probably left you "high and dry" they're saying. They may have ran away also. Kinda seems like an energy of being left to fend for yourself somehow...

I heard "womanizer" so not sure what that means... But I'm seeing that there's a, probably female, figure in their life that they've known for a long time that they consider in some way important to them. I heard "take the money and run," proceeded by the chariot and ten of pentacles... So I'm seeing this person is going to also be left high and very . Very dry. For some of you this person could literally be getting a divorce. I got the three of swords, so this one person leaving them definitely has the ability to break their heart, and they are definitely about to. I'm seeing the person who betrayed you as not doing so well monetarily in the near future after this. Ace of pentacles reversed they are NOT getting any type of help from spirit with that, so they're really going to have to work hard for anything they want. It's overall gonna suck for them. Karma is funny how simple it can be huh? I mean the same thing they did to you, but it almost feels more personally devastating for the person getting their karma. I think spirits really hitting home for their revenge.

I'm seeing a lot of abundance, and I felt a content feeling in my heart chakra. You might not be rich but you'll definitely have what you need, and you'll also be able to give to others. Seems like you're the type of person to be generous like that when you can be. If something you wanted didn't work out because of your person, I see it's because of a really good reason. I got something about jail for some reason.. either way for most of you you don't even have to grieve , I think that it definitely isn't what it seems, and what's meant for you will surely come your way. You might be going through an ending that seems tuff, but in reality you're dropping that old bs to move into something wayy better and that is actually right for you.

Ok so somebody has said a lot of negative things towards you, maybe even about you. They might have ended something. This could be a dream you had, an idea, goal . Something ended cause of them. I think they have or do say a lot to get you on lower vibes and they might think of it as seeing the world more "realistically " but it's actually the opposite. If they make it seem like oh you know you need to get a job you hate and work and die basically. Not cool.

Ok first of all with a mentally like that they're already miserable. Second It really seems like this could be a parent or just someone pretty controlling . It seems like you're one of the best things in their life and they harvest off of that... Literally .. you might not recognize that... But they keep you down just to take your good vibes man.... Straight up, walk away. That's the worst karma I think they can get. Everything already sucks more or less for them at least in their mind. And it's really pissing me off how they're stealing your energy and probably creativity for themselves.

What's your justice in this situation?

Ok straight up, I don't think you even realize how golden your soul is and it's because somehow you're still connected to this person at least energetically. The more you let go and move on the better off you'll be. Your gift is that you get to be yourself!

I wanted to say, what is your dharma in this, which is good karma. So I see you're going to have a lot of really great relationships in the future. It seems like only a matter of time until your life is fully your life and everything will be simple and great. You might have or get connections for some really positive opportunities in your life moving ahead. Spirit has you really hooked up. Just stay positive especially about the future. Im not sure if you don't expect to receive any support in this situation or you felt like you haven't got much, spirit is there and they're going to show you a sign that everything is alright. They're fighting for you and you can't see it but they're really out here fighting battles for you and protecting you while you go about your business. Some spirits may be working together around you to kind of shield you from anything bad that might try to come too close.

Ok so somebody or something broke your heart or just had some pain they put on you or tried to, and you had to come up out of that and heal..

Ok so some zombie brain baffoon tried to bring some pain your way and you had to deal with that...

I think for one this person kind of has to bask in your glory lol . They might be jealous and insecure.

Funny they might also see their future being bright. It is not. Not if they aren't pure intentioned no. They arent able to heal. They are probably just gonna continue in life to deal with people on their level and it just seems super messy.

I'm really seeing a fast food job for a lot of them. There's nothing wrong with that but the way they see it it's kind of ego shattering. I feel like rolling my eyes at them.

They could very well get in a car accident.

There just seems to be a lot of ego shattering and then then continuing to live a super mundane life with not much substance. They could get in a fight.

To be honest I feel like it's gonna be pretty satisfying to see this person get what's coming to them, if you even do. Spirit might show you them just for you to have a good laugh at some point. Okay I finally am getting around to this post! It's the 'Fuck how can mob psycho help me in so many ways god damnit I hate and love this show' post!

Shigeo joining the body improvement club, and everything about this part of his story is so personal to me. I just have to talk about it.

So as we all know at the start of the story, Shigeo joins the body improvement club to impress Tsubomi. Thats it. Thats the goal. He also joins because he wants to get stronger and not rely on his psychic powers but really like...the main reason is to impress her.

And this isn't new. A character wanting to get fit, lose weight, change some physical part of themselves for a crush is SO common in stories that you barely notice it.

But what I love, what I ADORE is how this progresses and changes.

I just am. I just am dying while running, I just am making progress, I just am enjoying this because I really like it.

This puts everything I feel into visuals (it's so gooooood watch the AMV!!! DO IIIIIIT)

So many times society tells us to change something about ourselves, or we tell ourselves to change for the appeal of others.

Lose weight so people think you're pretty.

Get fit so you can get into clothes that make you look hot.

Get swol to make a person think you're attractive.

You are the one and only you, this is your one and only body. So why are you working out, why do you WANT to get "swol" who are you trying to impress. Is it for yourself? A crush? Society?

I have battled with the above for so long. I come from an athletic background, and did a lot of sports growing up, but I have never been small. I have battled with weight my whole life and had my own shitty bouts with ED.

I have been in therapy, I have read books, I have watched videos, I've been in and out of PT for nearly 5 years because of a lower back and hip pain that NEVER went away.

I never figured out WHY i wanted to exercise. It just always was "To lose weight" because I couldn't get that goal out of my head for years and years and years.

But then I watched mob psycho 100.

And I started a new type of physical therapy.

And was it mp100 or was it the therapy finally working, who can say which did it—probably both—but one day I thought...

....maybe I should just go for a run...for 5-10 mins. Just to see how it feels. It went against all parts of my athlete brain (because 10 mins is too short to see "gains"....which is dumb but whatever)

I thought of Shigeo and how he basically passed out every time he ran for like 2 mins, but he got better. He had to start from 0, well...kinda like negative 5 really. But then he was doing so much not even a few months in!

35 pushups is so hard!!! You go my boi.

Shigeo started off doing it all for Tsubomi, for others, and even if he really wanted to do it to improve himself I think it was a secondary goal initially. Main goal was to impress someone. Secondary was to get stronger.

But then the marathon happened. And those goals SWITCHED! DURING THE RACE! just....man it hit me. It hit me hard. THAT WHOLE EPISODE IS JUST A LOT FOR ME GOD DAMN

He ran for her initially but he continued running for himself. He continued working at it because he wanted to and in the end, after everything, after confession arc, after all that

This scene!!! makes me cry happy tears!! look at how happy he is UGH IT JUST IS SO UGGGHHHHHHH

Anyway if you made it this far, know that everyones journey through their body improvement, mental improvement, emotional improvement is different. We all have to tackle it in the way that works for us.

It took me nearly 10 years to start again because of this beautiful anime connecting the right dots in my brain.

Every journey is different, but just keep fighting on and you'll figure it out!

So lesson 40’s here and season 2’s over huh? Let’s complain about it together

I’m simultaneously dissatisfied and satisfied with S2’s ending. I have negative feelings about the hard mode 40-8 in particular.

I feel like if this is actually the original timeline were back in, the brothers should have had a bigger reaction to MC’s return cuz like didn’t Solomon say that we just up and disappeared at the start of season 1 and the bros were a complete mess?

Makes me feel like something’s up- like the brothers’ perception of time has been altered or messed with in some way.

Initially I thought that Lucifer had seen the way his brothers and himself were suffering and wrought with worry for MC being missing so he asked Barbatos to cast a spell on them to kind of ease that by not making it seem so long that MC’s been gone and make it feel more like only a few days to months (or hell maybe he could’ve learnt to do it himself- this is Lucifer we’re talking about here) but now I’m not so sure and maybe we didn’t actually end up in the correct timeline. Either way I’m generally not a fan of it- I wanted that big sappy reunion with over the top dramatics with my favorite demons, damnit! I’ve been robbed!

Also where the fuck did Solomon go? he went through the rift in space time with us so shouldn’t there have at least been a small interaction with him when we arrived at the HOL even if it was along the lines of “oh good we’ve made it back in one piece, I’ll let you go inside and have some time to catch up with the brothers on your own. I’m gonna go debrief with Barbatos” or something?

And then there’s Nightbringer- or more specifically, their lack of presence within Season 2. When was the last time they’d even been mentioned in the story(lesson 21? 22? Were they ever mentioned at all after that?)

I know obvious answer is that Nightbringer=Barbatos (is it just me or was Barbs acting kinda… weird? Throughout the lesson??? He had me feeling like ‘this mf knows we time traveled don’t he?’) but anyway it feels like, for a character the game is literally named for, they’re not very important and front ‘n center…

Maybe S3 will be more focused on Nightbringer and whatever the hell’s going on with that weird ass reception from the brothers we got but for now we’ll just have to wait (I wouldn’t be surprised if solmare made us wait until April when the game hits its one year anniversary for S3 just like it played out in the OG game…)

Also also if the devs don’t hurry up and make 13, mephisto, and raphael dateable in S3 I’m going to riot. Lemme give my pretty wife kisses and take her on cute dates and shit. It’s been like 2 or 3 seasons since she was introduced! Whats the hold up?

As a humble connoisseur of the Psychic 7 I'm curious if u have any headcanons for them ur particularly fond of, esp if maybe its something youve never rly seen other ppl hc/talk about (tho well agreed upon hcs are also the bees knees)

OH BABY LET'S HAVE A THINK I'LL TRY TO BRAIN A SOMETHIN FOR ALL THOSE WONDERFUL OLD PEOPLE. under cut for length and spoilers

Otto: I'm so with everyone who's like "oh he's so sus and fucked up wait no actually he's normal wait no he's so fucked up". I think his brain is probably a mess but like in a way where he's able to function from day to day. I feel like maybe he's also the kind of guy who like... how to put it. He sometimes has a hard time remembering that just because he's passionate about and invested in something, doesn't mean everyone else around him is going to be equally as passionate and invested. (Especially after the Psychic 7 started splitting apart and having their own issues - hard to pull him back down to earth when you're too busy having your own breakdown.) I also really like the idea of him being at least part-Grulovian and having met Lucy when they were much younger, hence being in contact with her when they started the Psychonauts.

Ford: That man bi and he and Otto are Divorced (they never married) (they barely dated) (they're divorced) (they're still dating). Now that I write it out I think maybe he only had pretty casual relationships until Lucy. It feels like she was maybe the first and last person he really considered Settling Down with - all the more reason for him to be hit so hard by losin' her. I also love the idea of him eventually trying to become a mentor to Frazie, specifically because she seems to have teleportation powers and I feel like he'd want to hand down his unique power and help her refine that, which would be funny because she seems to resent him more than any of the other Aquatos.

Bob: I always interpret him as having lived in the Gulch before the Psychonauts were even a thing - that was just his family home, eventually Ford and Otto and Lucy moved in, he started talking to them and that was that. (I think it'd be funny if he was like, their local food supplier when they started crashing in the woods, he just kinda knew them as regulars who'd buy a crate or two of veggies every week or so, and eventually he and Otto got to talking and what the fuck Otto realizes he's a psychic and the rest is history.) I also really like the idea of Truman visiting him in the Gulch a lot growing up - this is a bit of a tangent but I like the idea of Truman pushing to found Whispering Rock and/or the Intern program when he became Grand Head specifically because of his fond memories of visiting the Gulch and developing his powers under the tutelage of the Psychic 7.

Compton: I really like interpretations where he like - kind of mutually separated from his partner on good terms. (Maybe even did it in part so his Accidental Violent Escapades slash new life in the woods doing psychic research wouldn't have a negative impact on his kid(s).) By the same token this started out halfway as a joke but I like interpreting the lady running the cafeteria at the Motherlobe as his daughter; she's got just the right combo of Sass + Eccentricity plus apparently ferrets at home, and it just feels right to me that Sam would have, like - a parent that's an employee but not an agent, y'know? If that's the case, I feel like she probably had a kinda distant relationship from him growing up (in large part due to him Fucking Off Into The Woods) but made an active effort to reconnect now that she's an adult and especially once she had her own kids.

Helmut: I think the poor guy really missed his calling with the Psychonauts shifting from spy & agent work more towards education (as we see with stuff like Whispering Rock & the Intern program & the apparent interest in kinda training/tutoring the Aquatos post-2). Like, in a world where he didn't get frozen, he'd probably running or at least working at Whispering Rock, putting on big psychic performances with the kiddos. (Granted, he would've had to have make it through the 20 years of spywork, which I think would have been tough for him.) Also I bet Quentin has like an ancient limited-press vinyl of his that sold like, 5 copies, and is Starstruck if he ever meets him and Helmut gets a HUGE kick out of that.

Cassie: LESBIAN!!!!!!!!!!! But ahem anyway where was I. I think one of the things she probably struggled with post-Grulovia (alongside uh. everything else. obviously) was probably, for lack of a better word, the like... legitimization of the Psychonauts? Like, much as she's very sweet and a natural mentor, Cassie's also rough around the edges; very much a do-what-you-gotta, anti-establishment type of gal. (love her for that.) I feel like suddenly having to work with The Government and go through official channels and be all organized and doing paperwork and reports and stuff probably rubbed her the long way and contributed to her feeling like she was getting left behind in the changes.

Lucy: This is all but text but like... I feel like Lucy probably had very mixed feelings about her decision to leave Grulovia. On the one hand, she got out of a place that was actively becoming more dangerous, out of a place where she was lonely and heartbroken after her husband's death, to this great new opportunity to use her powers and make lifelong friend and find a second chance at love with Ford. On the other hand, she had to leave behind a home she'd been in all her life and loved very much, in a time of great turmoil that she clearly feels she should have been able to do more about, and above all leaving behind her beloved sister. I wonder if maybe she tried to convince Marona to emigrate too and couldn't. I wonder if maybe part of what worsened her post-Astrolathe instability and made her suddenly rush back to Grulovia was that unconscious regret about leaving. Ain't no wonder she eventually broke, the poor thing.

Rooster decided that a night on the town was needed. You had been cooped up for so long after you hit a certain term in your pregnancy and he could tell that just staying at home was driving you crazy. Penny had been asking about you a lot too so he decided that you needed to go to The Hard Deck for a little fun and to see some familiar faces. You agreed almost instantly. So you quickly waddled up the stairs causing Rooster to watch your now more filled out form with a glint of desire in his eye. It didn’t take long for you to decide on something comfy but still good enough for going out, but you ran into a snag when it came to getting your shoes strapped on.

“Rooooooster,” you called from upstairs.

“Yeah babe,” he answered taking two stairs at a time to get to you. He saw you sitting on the bed huffing before gesturing to your undone sandals.

“I can’t reach the stupid strap,” you whined.

Rooster laughed kneeling down in front of you. His eyes gleaming in mischief before you poked him in the forehead. “Knock it off. That’s the look you got me pregnant with,” you huffed in mock anger.

“It was at least a little fun wasn’t it?”

“Lot’s of fun. It’s the aftermath that sucks a little. So hurry up and finish strapping my sandal!”

“You know,” he said leaving a tender kiss on your knee. “You could have just worn some slip ons.”

“But these are cuter,” you grumbled.

“You’re cute in anything and everything (Y/N),” Rooster cooed finishing the last strap and then helping you up.

“Even if I look like a hippo?”

Rooster knew it was a trap, “You don’t look like a hippo (Y/N). Maybe a hot air balloon but not a hippo.”

You slapped his shoulder causing Rooster to burst out laughing, “You freaking jerk!”

“I’m kidding! Kidding,” he laughed harder as you continued to batter him with half strength punches. “Uncle!”

You pouted but relented, “You’re mean!”

“I’ll buy you two appetizers in apology.”

“Really?!”

“Of course! I gotta feed my hot air balloon well,” he chuckled more this time earning a kick in his shin.

“You’re lucky you’re cute,” you stuck your tongue out.

Rooster captured said tongue between his fingers earning another glare. His only answer was to kiss you deeply taking advantage of your open mouth. Tongue lazily rolling over yours, he couldn’t believe that you were his. He questioned the universe a lot on how he got so lucky.

Now that you were able to get some fresh air you felt your spirits begin to lift. Being stuck at home and most of the time alone, made you dwell on some negative thoughts. Fear had a tendency to make it’s way into your mind when you wondered if everything would go smoothly when it was time for baby Bradshaw to make their appearance. He noticed that you were deep in thought and that it wasn’t something that pleasant by the crease in your brow.

“You okay,” he asked while squeezing your hand tighter.

“Yeah,” you nodded the crease leaving.

“You can tell me anything (Y/N).”

“Well I’m just glad to be out and doing something. When I’m home with nothing to do and especially when I’m alone I get kinda scared. What ifs start to overwhelm me and I can’t help but think about things going bad. Will the baby be okay? Will the delivery go smoothly? What if I die?”

Rooster’s heart ached knowing that those awful things came around to scare you and often cause he was gone so much. “Everything will go just fine. You don’t have to be scared. Your a Bradshaw now and you’re the toughest woman I have ever met.”

“Thanks Bradley,” you sighed. Clinging onto his arm and draping yourself against him he took you into your favorite restaurant.

It didn’t take long for you to get full and you were ready to go see Penny. You both had hit it off and with her and Maverick an item they were like having in-laws that you absolutely adored. Penny welcomed you both in immediately. It wasn’t too busy since it was the middle of the week but there was still plenty of people for business. She hugged you as tightly as possible due to your belly. Directing the crowd she made sure you had the most comfortable place before giving you water and Rooster a soda. She came by every now and again to talk, but always had to go back to work the bar. You didn’t mind at all.

The atmosphere was comforting and brought back good memories. You had met Bradley here in what seemed like just yesterday. And now you had a wedding band on your finger and a baby that could come at any moment in time. Rooster was just happy watching you but he grew curious when you really lit up. You waved at someone Rooster didn’t recognize. He was definitely your age and handsome to boot. He hugged you causing Rooster to bristle up. You introduced him and explained why you knew this man. He was an old classmate and you both had dated for a couple years before he left for college across the country. Rooster thought he could have stayed there for all he cared. He didn’t like the way this guy seemed to keep touching you and telling you how good you looked. It made him really mad when you blushed at one compliment.

“It was nice meeting you,” Rooster rudely interrupted, grabbing your hand. “But it’s getting late and as you can see (Y/N) is heavily pregnant with my child and I don’t want her out so late. She can go into labor at anytime.”

“Rooster,” you glared as you were not happy with your husband’s rudeness.

“Oh okay,” your friend spoke, clearly disappointed that you were leaving. “It was nice seeing you again (Y/N).”

Rooster growled lowly at him saying your name and you elbowed him, “It was good to see you too.”

Penny watched everything behind the bar, concern etched in her features. She contemplated calling Maverick but didn’t want to intrude. This was going to be something you both needed to work out together. But she could tell that you were really REALLY mad at your husband leading you out of the bar. Rooster unlocked his Bronco and helped you inside. Once inside you turned on him immediately.

“What the heck was that?!”

“I don’t like him,” Rooster replied starting the engine.

“Because he’s my friend?! Can I not have friends?!”

“Yes,” Rooster shouted back causing you to jump. “Just not that friend!”

“That’s not fair Rooster,” you shouted back getting angrier at him. “You’re friends with Phoenix and several other female pilots!”

“That’s different!”

“Well it is not,” you slammed a fist in the console. Rooster put a hand over yours to keep you from beating up the console anymore. “Let go of me!”

“No you’ll bruise your hand,” he said sternly.

“I will do what I want Bradley Bradshaw!”

“You are so absolutely stupid (Y/N) Bradshaw!” Now he was coming unglued and it kind of scared you. “Can’t you see that he was flirting with you?!”

“He’s just a friend Bradley,” you sunk back in your chair not used to this side of your husband.

“He doesn’t want to be your friend,” Rooster breathed trying to calm himself. Seeing you scared of him twisted a knife in his heart. “He still likes you (Y/N) and I will not let anyone take you from me. You’re too important to me. You and little Bradshaw is all I ever wanted in this life and I can’t lose you to another man.”

“Do you really not trust me that much,” you sniffed as tears rolled down your pale cheeks. Rooster cursed after he realized how bad he screwed up.

“No! No baby,” he gathered you in his arms. “I trust you with everything in me. It’s him I don’t trust. Please don’t cry I didn’t want to scare you or make you cry. Man now I feel like a stupid jerk.”

“You should be,” you poked him in the side hard. “Making your hormonal wife upset. You know I hate crying!”

“I’m sorry babe.”

“Oh you will be,” you threatened. “I hope you like sleeping on the couch.”

“C’mon I said I was sorry,” he pleaded. He knew you were teasing as the playful gleam had come back into your tearful eyes. Out of everyone in this world he knew that he had scored the jackpot with you and he didn’t want to lose you to anyone. He guessed that it wasn’t that he wasn’t confident in you but his confidence of you finally realizing that you didn’t hit the jackpot.

“I see that look,” you once again poked him in the forehead. “Stop thinking stupid things. You’re perfect for me and I will NOT have another man in my life. I love you Bradley Bradshaw you idiot.”

Rooster chuckled taking your hand after shifting the Bronco, “I love you to Mrs. Bradshaw. But I’m not sleeping on the couch.”

“Wanna bet?”

“I’ll rub your belly,” he sung.

You cursed his negotiating skills, “Fine. Deal!”

Just got back! OMG I love these movies, Gunn you're awesome!!

Non-spoiler review: I loved it. Go see it. Bring tissues because you're gonna cry! There are 2 post-credit scenes.

Spoiler review ahead.

This is one of those movies that I enjoy because I hate spoilers. I spent the entire thing feeling anxious every time a battle erupted as I was sure some of them would die, so the fact that none of them did and they all survived in the end was an unexpected surprise (but a welcome one!). If I had known it wouldn't have been the same experience at all, but that's just me.

I love, adore and worship the ground Nebula walks on. I always loved her but in this movie she's absolutely perfect in every scene she's in. When she cries after hearing Rocket? Hell yeah, I cried with her. And that scene where they're seeing what they did to Rocket and she's looking straight at it... damn, that was tough. "What they did to him was worse than what Thanos did to me". Holy crap.

Nebula telling Drax that he wasn't born to be a Destroyer but a Dad... damn, that one hit hard, especially when it's Nebula the one telling him. Now I want him to act protective towards her. And my girl is ruling the city too! Val rules the Asgardians, Nebula rules those people... I have a (female) type, folks!

Also I love that Gunn keeps on throwing jabs at Thanos and how awful he was. Love him for that.

I really liked that Gamora is different and they let her stay that way. I was kinda worried they were gonna change her in the span of one movie back to who she used to be pre-EG so I'm glad they didn't. Oh and that chat she has with Peter about her being someone else and him having to move on... is it just me or there was a parallel there between Steve and Agent Brexit? Maybe it's just me but I will live my days happily enjoying my headcanon that that particular scene is a jab at EG's stupid ending.

Every flashback to Rocket's past was so damn painful to watch, good thing I brought tissues with me. Knowing they killed his friends right in front of him makes IW even worse, the guilt he must have felt... my poor little raccoon. Oh, and he said it himself! "Name's Rocket Raccoon". Hell yeah! And Lylla's quote "This whole story was yours and you didn't even know it" that's James Gunn stating the trilogy was Rocket's all along, loved that.

I also really liked that they showed Quill being an alcoholic and struggling to get it together... but the very second his team is in danger he's back just like that, in a split second he's trying to heal Rocket and flying the ship. I gotta say I really liked him, this is what character development looks like. You see how he was in GoTG and you see him now... he's so much better. Which is why I'm kinda worried that the credits say he's returning? Unless it's under Gunn's hand, I do not want him back.

Mantis was great, more outspoken this time than we've ever seen her before. I love that she keeps making men fall in love with Drax...

And the hallway fight? That was amazing! Oh, and the High Evolutionary? MILES better than HWR. That's how you introduce a new villain, develop him then kill him off at the end.

Adam was okay. So much for a warlock but the dude was pretty damn scary at the beginning of the movie. He then turned into comedic relief but still... he was okay.

If I have something negative to say though... the farewell came out of nowhere. I get they needed to disband because this is the last movie but I think it could have been written a bit better.

The ending... F+TM is my favourite band so to have the "Dog Days Are Over" song playing when all the team is dancing and having a great time was AMAZING.

I think I'm forgetting some things but that's it from the top of my head. I really liked the movie and I'm so watching it again soon.

Good Stuff: The Super Mario Bros Movie

A fan shouldn't always sugarcoat it. Even if you get something you never figured you'd ever want but appreciate a lot, that doesn't mean a bias should bury any deeper feelings. What I'm getting at is Illumination's Super Mario Bros Movie can be so awesome and it was worth going to the theaters to see personally, but I can't get over the crippling flaw it has to say it was as great as I could say now. Better to be honest now than get increasingly unfulfilled later. First, though, I gotta give the props where they are due.

First, Bowser was The Best in this and I want him

For real, the animation was what I waiting for this whole time, no problems here. The film is fun. If it wasn't fun, that means Disney would've made it and it'd never come out anyways because of "creative differences". Illumination I found can make animations that are really bouncy fun, and it's best shown here. Plus the characters look incredible, DK especially, and there are moments where, in the best way, it felt like a cutscene from a video game I would want to play. Not to snipe at the Sonic movies, but this is seriously what I've wanted from video game movies since... Angry Birds 2? Like enough with the hybrid live-action crap, make a cartoon if the sourced game is about a CARTOON universe. "You mean like Ratchet & Cla-"

We do not... talk about that one.

This leads to something tricky I had in mind to discuss, and that's "faithfulness". Not long ago I watched the 1993 Mario Bros movie, a fiasco that one can argue was unfaithful to most of the source materials even with the few things they got right. Did we get something more suitable here? Well, I definitely wasn't annoyed with the fucking stupid discourse surrounding Peach's characterization and Mario's voice that's for sure. Many will cite this as having a great fuckton of references but I enjoyed the liberties they took whether or not they were references. The fact it starts out in Brooklyn made me already smile but the final act had my booty jiggle with unhinged glee. There's some corniness to it, especially with the certain musical needle drops they do, but even then it felt like they reveled in the corniness of those moments. This made me believe Nintendo and Illumination were looking to just make it excitable and enjoyable regardless of what fits where. It pains me though, knowing that there is that crippling flaw I mentioned at the beginning because while this film was fun, it went by fast. Ludicrously so... disjointedly so.

It was the Apex Cinema Speedrun, if you will

Many negative reviews claim this has a very thin plot and I honestly didn't consider that a wholly bad thing. A thin plot doesn't mean it wasn't cohesive or focused, or that there weren't any arcs to be had. The real problem comes in that certain moments don't feel earned when we barely get any time to cherish them. The pacing of this was kinda atrocious, the tight runtime truly being a detriment behind ideas for characters getting brought up well only to have shallow payoffs. Peach and Luigi especially had something about them I wanted to see more of, but before you got to see the plant blossom, they keep chugging and you're like "Ah, that's it?" They didn't need to spell everything out but let the characters breathe.

Bowser and DK felt like the exception

If this was the only movie we ever got again (knocking on wood), the fun of it all would soon subside for increased disappointment in the long run. I could say "This needs more movie" as a compliment, but that would mean I was fine with what we got. The live-action film, batshit as it was, felt consistent with everything it wanted to show and tell whether or not you saw the director's cut. That's why it became a cult hit, you remember how batshit it was. I genuinely enjoyed the film, but even with its many stand-out moments, it's gonna be hard to remember this film as much as I want to.

Except for Lumalee, I don't ever wanna forget them

I won't tout this overall as mid or "playing it safe" because they did so much right with this. When I say they stuck the landing with the Mario brothers themselves, that genuinely got to me. When we got the adventure, I relished the adventure. Like for the love of god, give me more of all this PLEASE! However, I won't give it a pass and call it perfect just because it tickled the Nintendo fan in me. Illumination's great when it comes to being in the moment, that's why I stopped hating on them, but in terms of their films having staying power this being a Mario film is carrying it hard from being a potentially forgettable one. For me, this is the movie adaptation of the Super Mario Super Show I never knew I wanted but looked forward to and felt was worth it. At the same time, my mind is fighting my heart strong knowing this Mario movie could've definitely been stronger. My final say is that it's a 6/10 movie with 10/10 moments. If you're looking for fun, this delivers no doubt, and don't let this review stop you from calling it a personal masterpiece.

What matters is that Mario finally made the Range

Hi guys. I haven't died yet, for the people who are waiting on my downfall. It felt like I was dying because I was sick! yippee! I mean, I still am, but I can walk around mask free because it's basically just a little itchiness in my windpipe, but compared to last week Friday (I felt so sick I couldn't even get out of bed without the help of my parents dragging me out or even lift my head for that matter), I feel great. With how sick I was, I kinda didn't get to work on the fan game as I hoped I could. Of course, I could have requested to have a break from classes, but I think they wouldn't be so lenient without a covid test and I'm sure it would have been negative. I also had to do homework on top of having a sniffly nose and walking around like I was hit by a car. You know heavy machinery? I had to deal with that with fogged up glasses. My mom apparently said that her dad lost part of his finger to a table saw, and I thought I was going to have history repeat itself, although hopefully that doesn't mean the 90's are making a come back. The only good thing that may have happened was the MTV shows, Humongous Entertainment games and the Parappa series. And before you argue with me, Nirvana started in the 80's, and Titanic (1999) is not a good movie. Rose didn't love Jack, she basically kills him in the end because there WAS enough room on that door. Everyone who says she didn't kill him is a Rose apologist/j

Anyways, no more depressing shit for now. I’m almost done with the locations. At last. I have one more to do and then it's everyone else’s sprites and maybe rework Xandra’s because there are some animation errors in her sprites such as her ears disappearing when she walks. So yeah, next week when I finally have down time and feel better I can work on them. With the way things are going I'll probably have to update y'all the week after my birthday (which is late March. You guys will know when I change my bio from 20 to 21 (whopee I get to finally drink *shudders*)), because good god, classes are also going real hard on me. Midterm on the 6th? No thank you. Not after that essay you made us write which I practically had several panic attacks because I thought that piece of shit was going to fail me. If you're asking if I failed, no, surprisingly it got me a 100. I don't know if the teacher gave me pity points but somehow she said my clarity and my content was great which is surprising because there is no way someone who is practically having a panic attack and is really sleep deprived could ever do that (me when I was writing that).

I’ll be honest, the bottom floor for the house was a nightmare because there would be times when I had to figure out how the hell it would do the thing I wanted it to do based on Xandra’s location.

Oh yeah I also drew up some stuff to make up for Valentine’s Day because I think it’s funny. And also it’s to cope with the pain of when my parents said go to bed and I was sick and bored and I couldn't lift my head up.

I also drew up something which was an old concept I had with Priyah, where instead of just pestering Xandra she did it to everyone by disguising herself as an erson (specifically as a holiday erson) and since there was no valentines verson in GASA4AM that I knew of I decided maybe she could pretend to be one of them.

(Translation because I know my handwriting is horrendous: Hi guys I’m Valentine’s Verson but you can call me Val. I’m like your 4th cousin. (These guys don’t look convinced))

Trust me you will recognize her in that Valentine’s version/Val disguise once you smack her glasses on her and take the lipstick off.

I really liked your blog but now it’s full of negativity and bad vibes. I’m not trying to be disrespectful towards you. But besides the whole negativity about HdtD actors, i like hearing your opinions etc, and i liked that you were even critical about some stuff. I guess my whole thing is kinda two fold.

It's a frustrating feeling to know - with every fiber of your being - what is about to happen to something you've gotten reattached too whether you like or not and wanted to be or not, and know that you're helpless to stop it cause no one who can understands what's about to happen.

It's almost as if I can see it, as if it's happening right in front of me.

Let me tell you, Nonny, what's about to happen.

Amazon is losing money and prestige on "Rings of Power". They know they've been humiliated by HOTD and their studio head just got a hit piece written about her in "The Hollywood Reporter. Trying to save face, and bloody the competition, they'll payoff "Vanity Fair" and other "Journalists" to smear "House of the Dragon" in order to boost "Rings of Power". These trash Journos will use rage bait to knock out the core fanbase of HOTD and turn the audience against one another.

They'll use Olivia Cooke and Emma D'Arcy's activism as a catalyst to do so, knowing that both are too stupid to understand what they'll touch off. When they do press for Season 2, a Journo will ask about Feminism and Patriarchy, and how it relates to today and even fan responses. Cooke and D'Arcy will be lulled by their indifference to the fanbase and show and be hyped up for a chance to virtue signal and will insult and belittle men and fans by claiming fake victimhood in ordinance with their bimbo feminism.

The fans will retaliate ten fold, going hard at the actress on Twitter and Youtube - Conservative and Independent media on social media will excoriate them and it will be a huge Culture War story. Cooke and D'Arcy will double down and lash out. Then, the media that started the whole thing will release dozens of articles saying that HOTD fans are misogynists and Transphobes.

That's when fans will organize and boycott, while Twitter bots and stans defending Cooke and D'Arcy will create a toxic environment that drives normal people away from the show. Youtube heats up with negative videos and take downs of Cooke and D'Arcy that creates animus till a majority of people - former viewers - will actively root for the show to fail. And when the entire show's reputation is in shambles and the fandom tears itself apart. That's when Warner comes in and cancels HOTD.

And why?

Cause the two people who should care the most are too dumb and self-absorbed to see that they're about to be the Typhoid Marys' that will be used to destroy the show and the fandom.

There's something haunting, futile about it, stony in quality - as if it's already happened and we're just waiting for the Stone Burner to go off.

I just find it harder and harder to stay positive about something that I really did enjoy that is built with cracking and crumbling foundations. I've seen Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and DC Comics - things I loved deeply - ruined by the same type of people that are now in key places of HOTD and I was already burned badly by the way that "Game of Thrones" ended. Believe it or not, I was once on several "Game of Thrones" podcasts and a regular - and sometimes major contributor - to fan media at GOT's height. And I brought that same enthusiasm to HOTD when it was getting good around 1x03.

But lately, I'm seeing a coming repeat of Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" but worst - much worst. Cause at least the actors of "Game of Thrones" actually cared about the fanbase, and cared about the characters they played. I just don't see it that way with this cast. I don't think you'd see Coster-Waldu, Gwendeline Christie, Kit Harrington, or even Emilia Clarke, disparage their character or the fans. They had a passion for the show and their work. Most of these new actors just see HOTD as a stepping stone to something else or an excuse to go drunk-fooling with other cast members.

They're certainly a far cry from the professionalism, class, and charm of the Downton Abbey cast - who I could watch all day.

But, I think you're right Nonny. I've let my growing bitterness of what will most likely be inevitable cloud my ability to see that I've let off a bit of too much steam lately. And while being a cynical person and extremely hardboiled about people and life in general, I should probably reel it back in ... or at least as much as I'm capable of in my old age of 33 years - which is ancient on this site.

Though, to be fair, I have 84 Asks piled up since my birthday in late-December and a lot of them are either hate toward me personally or people as cynical as I am about the show. So, it's not like I'm exactly fielding any positive energy out here.

I'll do my best to reign it in, but I also have asks to answer and I'm gonna be honest as I can be. No bullshit, not ever. So, if people ask, I'm gonna tell them how I feel.

You can either live with that ... or you can't.

6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): I’m sure it’s cheating, but I have 3 answers.

1: Elemental Changes: This started with an image in my mind, and I wrote the whole thing before I published any of it. And the art I commissioned from @slowdissolve kickstarted a whole new experience for us both.

2: The In-Between Years: I managed to take all 30 prompts from Angstpril 2022 and string them into a mostly coherent story, writing no more than 1000 words at a time. Not every day is a gem, but I am happy with the progress of the story from high angst to an amicable resolution.

3. Give Us Your Hand: What started as a 507-word @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt blossomed into a 46K-word, 9-part series (so far).

7. Work I’m least proud of (and why): This is ‘least’ proud in a set of stories I’m really pretty happy with. I’m going to throw Now Is Not the Time under the bus, because in retrospect, it’s kind of a rewrite of I’m Sorry I Need You.

8. Share or describe a favorite review you received: This isn’t quite what the question asks, but having @slowdissolve say she would have done my commission for free was right up there in the highlight reel. And those three little hearts from @mjsharizai are always an absolute treat.

9. A time when writing was really, really hard: I’m still very new on the writing wagon, having just started writing for a hobby in early 2021. Thankfully, I’m old enough that when it’s hard, I just set it aside and come back when the ideas are ready.

10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: I just can’t answer the questions the right way tonight. Here, I’m going with the whole Pemlinzin ship. How little goody-goody two-shoes me wound up writing polyamory is something I should think through at some point in my life.

11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

This feels very odd to describe as a favorite. It engendered my first negative review which was so mean-spirited that it was, in its own way, the fire that helped me write the next seven entries in the series. From Mistakes (Give Us Your Hand, part 2):

[Tenzin] sighed. “About a week before he died, she came to visit. She was being Toph, trying to pretend it wasn’t that bad, that he wasn’t dying. Mom left them alone to talk and went to lay down for a little while.”

He shivered. “I wasn’t with them. I just heard Mom shouting. When I got to Dad’s room, Mom was healing him, and Toph was crying. She had punched him like always. But this time, her punch knocked him into the wall and he hit his head. It wasn’t terrible, Mom got him comfortable, but Toph didn’t come back after that. I know she and Mom saw each other at the memorial, and I know they basically made up. But then I hurt you.”

He squeezed Lin closer.

“They were best friends for over forty years. But one argument broke their relationship.”

12. How did you grow as a writer this year: This is a question I think will be easier to answer in retrospect. I was able to complete a couple of larger projects, even after I got so far into them that I kinda didn’t know what to do. I’m just so new at this I mostly can only see my weaknesses.

13. How do you hope to grow next year: Differentiating speaking styles and speech patterns between characters is a sore spot for me re-reading my own writing. I also know I’m not great at describing the interiority of characters. And starting fewer sentences with ‘and,’ ‘so,’ or an adverbial phrase {not an English major, I forget what the technical term is}.

14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

I think that should be obvious by now. I owe @slowdissolvee a lot of credit.

15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:

I’ve been married for 25 years and have 2 kids. There’s a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and memory in what I write.

16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

Be where you are. Sure, your readers are interested in seeing your updates, but your life comes first. #YourAudienceAwaits - and the patient ones are worth listening to.

I’m going to offer a slightly different perspective than @itsmoonpeachessmoonpeaches, who was so kind as to suggest I take on this exercise. All while not disagreeing with her here:

Don’t be afraid to break out of your comfort zone. You will never grow as a writer if you continue to write the same things over and over again. If you have an idea for something very different, go for it! It takes a lot of effort and time to do something you don’t normally do, but you will end up being better after it.

I know I’ve already written the same story at least twice (see above), but it served me to write both of those stories. I clearly had some thinking to do on the topic.

17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: I cannot put into words how much fun I’m having on Red Jade. Between working with Slowdissolve and getting to read the other Linzolt writers’ stories, I have been grinning for months.

Tomorrow marks one month since I cracked. 2 things have become very apparent over this time.

1: This is gonna be a long and hard year and a half before I can transition. The month has already felt wild, the disconnect between the change in mental state and actual, y'know, change, has been really jarring and will only get more so the more time passes with nothing changing.

2: Just how much I was wrong about at first and how much stuff there was under the surface. Sentences like "I don't feel dysphoria" and "I can easily be a guy for a while" spring to mind. lol. lmao even. It was only like a week and a half ago I was saying the name I think I like means nothing to me and is just a nice name and that itd probably stay that way until late into transition. But nope, I'm already kinda starting to feel that name. Atleast like 2 and a half years before I can actually start using it. Great.

For all the negatives, there's one thing that has persisted since day 3 and that is the permanent mood improvement. Not being able to transition till I can move out sucks, but it gives me something to look forward to, which it turns out I was in dire need of, with my only real reasons to live being reasons not to end it yet, as opposed to reasons why I should live. But I see it now. A happy future is very much within my grasp and I WILL make it happen. Being in a better mood has made it easier to get stuff done on a day to day basis, and getting stuff done makes me feel even better. I've been on an upward spiral that's doing pretty good at counteracting the downward spiral of increasing dysphoria.

That's more of a recap, and now that the dust has settled a bit for now and I haven't bren having as many big realisations about it, I've started thinking, "why now?" Its not like I didn't know about trans people. I've been involved in trans spaces for years, I've been having these kind of feelings for years too. What actually was it that truly set it off? Like, the true moment of understanding was my first scroll through r/egg_irl but what was it that compelled me to do that?

Idea one was my first real feeling of euphoria. I kinda knew what it was at the time, I just ignored it. A month or two prior to cracking, my hair was at the longest it had ever been (which is not long at all.) It was the first time that the bits of hair infront of my ears (normally just a short spike shape as part of my fade) was long enough to dangle on its own as opposed to being fully stuck to my head. Something about having dangling hair like that felt good. I knew why, I just ignored it. I wonder if that specific feeling had been a bit of an early kickstart into this realisation? Either way, I was told to get a haircut shortly after (theres a reason my hair never gets very long) so I didn't dwell on it.

The only other factor I can really think of that was different just before cracking was watching Gen V? In short, Gen V features a character who can switch between masc and fem in an instant. In my interpretation of the show, this doesn't inherently make them genderfluid, but the power serves as an exaggeration for presenting (so them being masc is comparable to boymoding.) When looked at from that perspective, their writing strongly reflects that of a trans character and it kinda hit a certain spot for me. But honestly, I really don't think that was the actual catalyst.

The only real conclusion I can draw from this is that there was no actual catalyst. For a fair few days before fully cracking, I felt something was off, and I knew exactly what it was and what was about to happen, even if I didn't admit it to myself. So I think my cracking must have been a very gradual thing with no real catalyst.

There was more I had to say here, but its a fairly different topic and got really long, Ill save it for its own post. This has perhaps been one of the wildest months of my life, and also one of the most normal. As much as I hate that nothing has really changed, the better understanding of myself Ive gotten has been massively benefical. Besides, knowing is half the battle and I'm pretty much there already.

Nephew and I revisted FMA03 this weekend. We used to binge it together when he was younger and we were feeling nostalgic for it even though FMAB is far superior, but we did have Thoughts TM:

1. It's interesting that 03 got Greed being more nuanced and compassionate right when they were working off so little with him in the manga (I maintain that even the original Greed in Brotherhood was more nuanced than what we see, but that's a whole discussion).

2. Lust being a nuanced character kinda slaps? That whole "I was created to be an object of lust, but I have negative feelings over being seen as only a sex object and I strive to find meaning in myself" arc? Wonderful. Fantastic. No notes.

3. The Shou Tucker arc hits harder in 03 because we're spending more time with Nina and Alexander.

4. 03 also got Envy being jealous of humans right, but in an entirely different way. It's weird that they're Ed and Al's half sibling, but it's also kinda funky and fun.

5. 03 really didn't want to commit to Winry ships, but wanted to play both the EdWin and AlWin shippers. Also weird, especially as they kept giving Ed love interests of the week. They even brought Rose back as a love interest of the week and even had Ed be kind of into her other self in our world in the movie.

6. Nephew and I have taken the "both brothers are into Winry but neither are going to end up with her" approach and decided Winry and Rose become a lesbian couple at the end of 03 given Rose moves into Winry's automail shop with her kid and they're co-parenting.

7. They really went hard on the Nazi comparison in 03. To the point of including actual real world nazis in the movie.

8. 03 also *loved* L'Arc~En~Ciel. Which like, of course. They're a great band. It's just interesting how long 03 stuck with Ready Steady Go as the opening and how the movie uses two more songs by them.

So the teaser for Invincible season 2 dropped a while ago looking more polished in the animation department due to being directed by animator Balak. Some time after a tweet started to make the rounds about how someone was shocked to find out this incredibly fine looking animation for a tv show was done by a nsfw artist. Now they clarified that they didn't say this in a negative sense but the damage was kinda sorta done.

Now I'm sure I'm gonna sound cringe when I say this but I feel like this comes from the result of stuff like cancel culture, or the amount of terminally online kids who don't know anything but have learned to try get the moral highground as fast as possible and even the recent stigma against nsfw artist being the "easy way" to popularity.

Everyone is back to assuming "what you see is what you get" or judging a book by it's cover especially when it comes to nsfw artist. Hell it's even worse now cause it's general pornography as well the more taboo art.

I'll never forget or forgive that shit that happened last year when someone on the Amphibba crew was revealed to draw nsfw art of the shows characters got attacked and forced into hiding.

I feel like a decade ago when becoming a nsfw artist in the open was becoming a thing a lot a people were worried that it meant any dream of making into the industry was probably not gonna happen but look at Bruce Timm, Rebecca Sugar (yes really), Ian Jones Quartly and now Balak.

Hell, what am I talking about? Balak already made it before this dude is part of the main team of a popular comic as well as it's tv adaption, which has some of the most tasteful sex/nudity and hard hitting violence western animation has possibly ever seen especially for tv as well being a part of independent small animation studio.

Anyone genuinely shocked and confused that someone can draw porn and general good art is someone who is admitting that they can't think outside the box.

I saw when someone mentioned who animated it and I was wondering when the cluster fuckery would begin. I don't know why some people even bother trying to come out talking as if some of these NSFW animations isn't some of the most legit looking shit these days. It shouldn't be surprising because once you mastered fuck psychics in animation you mastered the world and that should become a test before you get brought on to animate a project. "Oh, you wanna animate on the OK KO Movie? Well, just get me a test animation of Carol and Wilhamena double teaming Captain Planet by next week and I'll see if there's a spot for you".

Also, nobody should be playing the moral high ground card when they're clearly showing that they know of these things a little too well. It's like when teachers get fired for having an Onlyfans. Like, how the fuck did y'all find out? How did y'all confirm it?. And I still remember when the streets tried to come for Rebecca. Shit, Walt Disney legit got a secret stash out there too. For every single person that always wants to point fingers just let their search history pop up one time.

*deep sigh* fine. let's do this.

My qualifications here are thus: I did three years of competitive speech and debate, and did pretty well for myself (two time state qualifier, two time national qualifier, one time state champion). I also spent a year as team co-captain, and a year helping a teacher at my school teach the speech and communications class. Also, i'm an extremely judgemental bitch. With that in mind,

Hakeem Jeffries

Jeffries started out his speech by thanking the Democratic caucus, and by calling them out for being unified. Which makes sense, that's a good contrast to draw and it comes across as more dignified for not mentioning the Republicans or their negative example by name and instead just going on the positives.

He then moved on to praising Pelosi for her leadership, calling her the greatest speaker of all time, and setting up what I'd call the main rhetorical theme of Jeffries' speech: alliteration. Jeffries loves alliteration. I can't tell you if that's a common factor of all of his speeches, because I haven't watched any outside of this one, but boy. Does he like his alliteration.

"Throughout her time in congress she's been a legendary legislator, a fabulous facilitator, and a non-nonsense negotiator. [...] A defender of democracy. A voice for the voiceless, and a powerful champion for the children, the climate, charm city, California, the caucus, the congress, the country, and the constitution."

There's a bible Quote detour after the Pelosi section, which I'm not personally a fan of because it seems like it's a detour that's unnecessary. However, what he uses it to transition to is great and something more democrats should do: talk about their goddamn accomplishments. It includes a line that I think any other speaker would have made sound incredibly cheesy, but I think Jeffries pulls off:

"The D in Democrat stands for 'deliver'."

(which of course got boos from the Republican side. lots of heckling. whatever, children.)

The next section does a lot of laying out an agenda going forwards, I think it's inoffensive and fine, and there's another big chunk of alliteration. You think I'm kidding about this speech? go watch it for yourself.

I liked the language about diversity, mostly, though did notice that trans people were glaringly missing from his whole thing about the kind of people who make up America. Whatever.

Rhetorically, I like framing the Democratic party as the party of the American dream. For as much as like. leftists will criticize that idea, I think it's probably still persuasive to a lot of people and I'm always going to argue for effectiveness of outcome over ideological purity. I also like pointing at the house Republicans and their bullshit and saying "we're reasonable! ball's in your court" (paraphrasing).

And then, the main event. The grand listing of Democratic values, an alphabetical list of alliteration. You can watch it here, set to music. I kinda liked how pointed it got! I'm a big fan of people who don't pull punches when they're dealing with bullshit, and I don't think this did that. Also, I respect that he got all the way to the end of the alphabet that's a hard feat to pull off. Do you know how hard it is to find political contrasts to make where both parts start with X or Z? I don't think I could have done that!

Overall, I liked it. I don't know if it was great, but it's certainly unique enough to be memorable for a bit, at least among the kind of people who watch 15 minute speeches at like 10 in the evening on a friday (me).

Also, you could see how hard he struggled to find nice things to say as he introduced Kevin lmao

Kevin McCarthy

Starting off strong with an ineffectual little gavel hit like a kid with a new toy, and then an incredibly stupid little joke.

"That was easy, huh?" -Kevin McCarthy, 2023, after 15 ballots.

Followed by a dig at the opposition, for no reason

"Hakeem, I've gotta warn ya. 2 years ago, I got 100% of the vote from my conference."

He then thanked the Clerk, which I actually think is a very good thing to do. I'll give him that. That lady deserves all the kudos she's been getting: normally, nobody knows who she is and then all of a sudden the eyes of the nation are on her. Then he makes an appeal to "my father once told me" which. eugh. I don't like these.

"My father once told me, it's not how you start. It's how you finish."

He then talks about being the son of a firefighter (we get it! we know! I don't know what he thinks this proves!) and then being able to achieve high office in the most uninspiring possible way, as well as shouting out Jeffries' life story too as if we did not just hear it in much more engaging detail like 15 minutes ago.

Kevin then promises Jeffries that he'll keep debates civil, which. LMAO. Jeffries mouths something in response which might be "no" or "bet". I don't know I don't read lips. (also side note: LOVING the free CSPAN camera angles throughout all of this. Free the cameras. I want to watch reaction shots always.)

He hits the highlights. Bladyada the economy, respect law enforcement, dreams come true in america, etc. He wants to cut spending, lower prices, stop the rise of the national debt (if you're playing the Republican speech drinking game, here's where you take a drink), slash regulations (another drink), do more american energy, the works.

The interesting bit comes after, where he talks about some specifics of his plan for governance. He promises the first bill when they come back is to repeal the funding for 87,000 new IRS agents. He wants to tackle the southern border (take a drink) and stop "woke indoctrination in our schools" (another drink, or maybe throw one at your tv. either way). He's really repetitive in his speech: if i hear "wasteful washington spending" one more time I am going to Lose It. There's some dumb line he seems very proud of here. Oo look at you doing assonance how clever:

"From now on, if a Washington bureaucrat wants to spend it, they will come before us to defend it."

He promises a bipartisan select committee on China, because of course the Republican party has to be hyper focused on China. There are also, apparently, going to be committees on the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the origins of COVID (really? really?? it is the year of our lord 2023 and we're still doing lab leak bullshit?), and the "weaponization of the FBI" (read: raiding Mar-a-lago). These feel like presumably some of the compromises made with the freedom caucus to buy their vote.

IDK I'm focusing on policy so much because his speaking style is so bland. every attempt at flourish falls flat. he is like the lukewarm oatmeal of speaking styles. It just feels clumsy.

He focuses a lot on his little section about opening up the house (physically). Including a dumb little metaphor about the debates being open too. Actually he just talks about debate good a lot which, I say as a former debate kid: lmao.

The thanks to his family does have huge oscar acceptance speech vibes, but it is also probably the best part of this speech. Comes across as cute and genuine. He then follows it with a very dumb quote from a Song, losing the moment entirely. Kevin, fire your speechwriter. He then goes back to his father being a firefighter! We KNOW.

Again, if I have to give him some kudos (reluctantly) it's for his bits about the families of the lawmakers supporting them. I think it's humanizing, a thing he needs desperately.

There's then a whole thing about Lincoln, and the statuary hall because that's where Lincoln served, and oh boy does it sounds like he jerks off to fantasies of Lincoln. Like, listen to this. I'm just going to excerpt it all. (emphasis mine)

"My most favorite spot in this building is not in this Chamber. It's in the chamber they met before, in the statuary hall. It's my favorite place to take people on a tour. You see, it's where Abraham Lincoln served. Just a one term congressman, sat in the back. I like to go to that spot, and I like to stand where he stood. I like to do it at night, when people aren't around. I like to look over, and look at the clock, because that's the same clock and same view that Abraham Lincoln saw. I watched in a time that he did not know if the nation could sustain itself, but he dreamt of a future, and built a railroad across the nation. I want us to all take a moment one time that you are here. I want you to stand there. I want you to look. And I want you to think, if America could do it then, we could do it now one more time."

He promises an open door opportunity, which. Lmao, we'll see. And then he goes on a LONG ramble about the painting of Washington crossing the Delaware that doesn't appear to have a point. If I was coaching this speech, I'd tell him to make the point more explicit or cut this section entirely. It's so weird. It sounds like a freshman paper. He also makes a GREAT mouth typo here:

"If we let everybody in the boat. If we row in the same cadence together. There is no obstacle this body can overcome for this nation."

I will also give Kevin one other thing: he's pretty self-deprecating in this speech, and I think that's the only correct tone to take after this embarrassment of a process. Congrats on reading the room, Kevin. Now if you could read the room and make your goddamn speech shorter, that'd be great.

Overall, C-. Terribly boring. It feels very... clumsy? Is probably the best way to put it? and It's so long. It did not need to be this long. I'm looking at the clock and I've spent almost an hour and a half writing this post. Jesus Christ. Good night, and God bless America.
