It took me a month but I did it.

I made this with my own hands.

I'm meeting Vico in 3 days and 2 of those days I'm working so this was literally my last day to finish it and I managed it with 2 hours to spare. (So I'm making an eye patch for my eevee bag).

I decided to hand stitch the skeletons down and I do not regret it at all it looks so good.

The day the skeleton-mermaid flag was released as the season 2 teaser I wanted to make this, it's the original pride flag colours with the progressive triangle and I worked so hard to get fabric in the right colours. (I work in a fabric store so (👉■_■)👉)

And then I've never really quilted before but this is very much like a quilt and I'm going to get Vico to sign it. I hope to one day get the whole cast to sign it tho who the f knows if some of them would come to an Australian convention.

So much of the "bad" behaviour in ofmd are trauma responses and i love that they show how yeah sometimes we dont respond in the most healthy of ways, we fuck up and we hurt those closest to us, but we still deserve love and kindness at the end of the day

#its just really important to me #and is why i will defend this show to my dying breath #ofmd #our flag means death #spoilers in tags: #stede's response to ed & the crew potentially leaving #ed's whole kraken era lol #there's so many examples of their actions being led by their trauma #and even the characters whose backstories we dont get #its heavily implied that a lot of them grew up either poor #or at least on the outside of conventional society #whether it be for attraction gender or class #and growing up around violence!! #thats a big one! #violence as the only method of solving problems #why they're so confused and rattled by stede #when you've never been shown kindness before its hard to show it to someone else #or recognize when its being shown to u #i so wish max hadnt cut the budget and episodes #bc s1 did such a good job of showing all this w added backstories #and more breathing room #and while i love s2 it has suffered from the reduced time #especially in this regard #i do think the post-kraken crew dealing w their traumas differently #was some of the best television ever #like they dealt w such a serious topic w the complexity it deserves #(tho again had they had more time it could have been ever better) #and sure there was some humour #but it wasnt cruel #ofmd s2 spoilers

Y'all don't understand how much it means to me that Oluwande and Jim describe each other as their best friends.

There is no doubt that they care about each other, that they would do anything for each other. When Jim thinks back to the Revenge, the first thing they think is Oluwande. Jim is immediately honest with the kissing, and Oluwande is supportive. With a sword to Olu's neck, he says he "wants to grow old" with Jim. When given the choice, Oluwande leaves comfort and stability for Jim.

In end, they ARE best friends! They love each other through and through. I love that their relationship can't be tied down to one label and that it isn't just romantic or platonic. It's both. It's neither. It's beyond that. It's theirs and it's special. It's theirs and I adore it so.

There's something so depressing about watching s1 con panels from before Con officially and publicly came out. Nathan & Kristian & Vico & even straight (ymmv) (?) guys like Rhys & Taika & DJenks received heaps of praise for all the queer love and rep.

Meanwhile, Con is an older queer man in the arts who literally survived the REAGAN administration, a veritable death sentence for mlm. [I realize that Con is not from the US, but the US government's response to the AIDs crisis helped inform and reinforce the (lack of) response and stigma surrounding the "gay-related immune deficiency disorder" (yes, this was the official name for years)]

Give Con the most love. Let him say all the words. Listen to him. We queers are only here and living - arguably far better, despite the recent aggressive resurrgence of anti-queer, specifically anti-trans legislation - because of men like Con paving our way.

Hello ofmd Tumblr!! The power of Season 2 is so strong that I am emerging from my self-imposed Internet Ghost box to throw in my two cents in the last moments before the final episode drops. I'm about 95% certain Izzy isn't going to be dying in the finale, and here's why!

Let's talk about theme! Part of the core of Izzy's arc this season (and I would say the heart of the show more broadly) has been vulnerability--allowing yourself to be vulnerable, being a part of a community, growing beyond the things that make us throw those walls up.

If they gave Izzy his arc this season, let him open himself up to the crew and have this vividly queer journey of self-discovery, and then killed him at the end? That tells the audience that he (and other characters on related thematic arcs) was right originally. That it's dangerous to be soft or vulnerable, that letting yourself be explicitly, openly queer and joyful isn't safe. That sucks!! That's a terrible theme!!! I can't think of any way they could make it work well.

IF Izzy is going to leave the main cast, they absolutely are not going to kill him off. I think it's more likely he'll retire or something else that involves him splitting off from the main group.

Or I guess I could be wrong but if I am I think I legally have to turn in my writer's pen LOL.
