Precipice

How could Ul'dah be so dark at night, yet so vibrant with color just behind? Standing outside near a lamppost in the Goblet was like standing at the edge of the world.

He looked down over the stone railing. Utter darkness. Even his eyes, accustomed to seeing well in very little light, were lost in those untold depths. A lot like looking into…

He banished those thoughts. He had to banish too many thoughts lately. It was sloppy. He had finally earned his freedom from Balthazar's Favor. The blood contract was burned. Why had his first few months of freedom ended with him feeling utterly trapped?

First the murder bird. Always the murder bird. Hovering. So infuriatingly indifferent. Precious, but cold and distant. Out of reach no matter how close, able to hover there. Teasing.

Then the hawk. Brilliant, powerful, regal. Halone incarnate. His doom and salvation. The problem with hawks was they soared. Too high and too far sometimes. His paws were on the ground. Did he need to soar?

He took a step up onto the ledge. He held the lamppost. Leaned. Felt the wind in his hair. Was this his problem? Did he need to try to fly with them all?

He did fly now. Or, well, flew but always crashed. He was learning. Enough to fool a fellow fox, right? Maybe not, but at least be tolerated. Enough to convince a Captain? Enough to train a prospective skilled student? Enough to trick even himself? Did he actually like his crew? It was just another scam, wasn't it? He could quit any time.

The Gallery had grounded him. Whether a snake, a gecko or some kind of frightening goddess, he felt emotionally raw from his experiences there.

Why did it have to awake the past? Why now after… is that why I can't focus? Is that why all this…

More thought-stamping-down was needed. He need to crush those thoughts, actually. He did so again. He lied to himself as well, since immediately the thought came, unbidden and unwanted.

Had that song really made me weep…?

He turned back to look at the manor. Almost a castle. The Outlaw had left. The Samurai had not. Was he staying the night? What was going on!?

Why did it matter? Excellent question. Normally this would be a good thing. Another fun puzzle or inconvenient complication to unravel. He could work with it. Show the world how clever he was. Be worthy of Oschon and ascend perhaps to levels no one ever dreamed.

He leaned over the edge, holding on to his only light. He looked down. It wasn't like glimpsing true beauty and losing it the next instant in the darkness, in the rain. No. It was close perhaps?

Ascend. To fly was another way to ascend.

A Murder Bird, a Hawk, and now… what? The dress. A Magpie. Magpies steal. What did this one steal, friend?

Please be quiet, voice. Please. It's just a job. This is what I do. It's what I live for. Helping poor citizens… like myself! It's just a job. Besides, I am the one who steals. I am the one who takes.

More than one voice in his head was a bit much.

He could fly. That might be the problem, right? All these feathers, maybe he needed to flock together.

Is that it? Was that the answer? He began to glance over his shoulder to see if the Samurai had left and stopped himself. Instead, he closed his eyes and teetered on the edge. One finger let go, then a second.

He'd let his mother down. Killed her. He'd tried to never let that happen again. Inaction was impossible. It was time to act, to let go, to…

His hand slipped and he flailed on the ledge… pinwheeling his arms, only to throw himself back and grab the lamppost like it was a lover he had almost known in the rain.

"Swiving hells I don't want to die, I want to LIVE!" he suddenly exclaimed into the pitch black. He laughed, possibly a tad manically, and perchance a bit desperately. However, he did laugh. When all is said and done, that had to amount for something, didn't it?

He grunted and hopped of the ledge. He was such a fool sometimes. Straitening his vest and running a hand through his hair, Argent looked back at the manor house. He would not let this get the best of him. That was a hen house. Who cared if magpies roosted? Certainly not this fox.

He spun about and walked purposefully into the night, away from the dark abyss of the cliff and into the twinkling lights of the Goblet he wanted to gulp from now. This evening would be about forgetting so that he could focus. He wouldn't come back from that glowing life until he could barely walk. Maybe he'd be carried.

He didn't just want to live. He wanted to dance. Feathers be damned.

Ahh, mereka lucu bangett akskasjs

Hotaru waktu itu masih kecil nyasar di hutan, terus ketemu Gin, kenalan, terus dianter keluar hutan. Dari situ setiap musim panas Hotaru selalu ke rumah pamannya buat ke hutan nyamperin Gin.

Hahaa dipikir-pikir Gin sabar banget nunggu Hotaru setahun sekali, dan setiap tahunnya pasti Hotaru udah berubah. Jadi lebih tinggi, lebih dewasa. Dan scene Hotaru mamerin seragam barunya selalu lucu, dan sedih juga. Karena waktu kaya jalan terus gitu sementara Gin selalu nunggu Hotaru dateng.

Hotaru keliatan beda banget aksksksk

Karena mereka cuma bisa ketemu setahun sekali waktu musim panas, Hotaru sama Gin harus ngelewatin musim lainnya sendiri-sendiri. Hotaru di sekolah, sementara Gin di hutan.

Tapi Hotaru sering ngelamun di sekolah, mikirin musim panas dan ketemu Gin. Padahal di sekolahnya ada orang yang mungkin diem-diem merhatiin Hotaru, dan sadar kalu dia sering ngelamun akhir-akhir ini.

Tapi bahkan setelah digandeng sama cowo ini, Hotaru langsung ngelamun lagi mikirin Gin. Come on girl, Gin gabisa gandeng kamu seperti ini kalau jalannya licin :'D bisa aja sih, tapi langsung ngilang, jadi kaya dighosting haha.

Lalu ada satu scene yang bikin diri ini terbang.

Terus mereka ngabisin waktu bareng di festival~

Btw Gin dapet yukata dari mana ya.

Habis dari festival Gin ngasih topengnya ke Hotaru sambil ngucapin kaya salam perpisahan.

Itu.. bisik-bisik dia :p

Dan bener aja jadi salam perpisahan.

Kukira Gin bisa bedain dalam sekali liat, mana yang anak manusia dan bukan. Lagipula dia sendiri tau kalau suka ada anak manusia yang ikut ke festival roh, tapi tetep asal pegang aja. Ya, namanya reflek nolong orang yakan.

Dan karena udah terlanjur mau ilang, Gin nyambut pelukan dari Hotaru. Hotaru pun langsung meluk Gin dalam keadaan setengah ilang. Berasa liat goblin ya bunda.

Jujur aja, ga nyangka ceritanya selesai sampe situ aja. Karenaa kukira bakal ada bumbu keajaiban lain gitu, misalnya gajadi ilang waktu Hotaru peluk Gin, haha. Dan Hotaru sendiri keliatannya terlalu ikhlas banget ngebiarin Gin pergi, kesannya buatku jadi kurang greget gitu, hehe. Seakan udah siap dari dulu kalau suatu waktu Gin bakal pergi. Ah, yaa harusnya emang gitu sih, karena mau diliat dari manapun mereka emang gabisa bareng sih *sad music*

Bener-bener kurang greget di hati, wkwk. Kalau alurnya Hotaru terlalu sedih atau syok karena Gin mau ilang, padahal Gin udah nunggu rangkulan dari Hotaru, terus Ginnya ilang duluan sebelum Hotaru sentuh itu bakal gokil sihh :D

Bayangin aja, ketemunya setahun sekali doang, di hutan, gapernah nyentuh satu sama lain karena gamau pisah, saling suka, tapi giliran ilang penyebabnya bukan karena sentuhan antar Gin-Hotaru tapi malah orang random, akhirnya Gin ilang bahkan pas mereka sama sekali belum pernah nyentuh satu sama lain HAHAHA, gitu lumayan greget kan ya, langsung jadi angst. Kasian Hotaru, jatuh cinta sama roh, ditinggal pula. Hadeh

Though the weekend is over, the thrill we’re still enjoying and the success of it. Not only attendees enjoyed the show, Omoyemi Akerele and her husband jigging it down at the VIP section after the show proved they enjoyed the show too, even though it must have been hectic organizing it. It was a beautiful show and all the designers were amazing! If I was not proud to be a Nigerian before now, I would have become proud to be a Nigerian, these guys blew my mind away.

The designers at the pop up store created pieces that will make you proud of our fashion industry, brands we did not know we have. That’s the beauty of LFW, the theme this year is Beyond Creativity, the business of fashion and the moral of fashion is the lesson, fashion is beyond clothes.

On the runway designers blew our mind away, they made us applause with excitement. Mai Atafo’s collection did it for me, I was expecting his signature but he surprised us. Ejiro Amos Tafiri, Ugo Monye, Emmy Kasbit’s collection is top on my list to style with and to own, House of Kaya right now got me listening to Sudanese songs, it’s the combination of everything, thrills of the clothes, the styling, his collection is decent and sexy with northern fashion influence. Every culture have their fashion, it’s beautiful if you appreciate it.

Ugo Monye’s Collection

I like to call Ugo Monye’s collection Egyptian and Military, revamping traditional wear with a military vibe. Lagos Space Programme’s collection I’ll die for, especially the cotton woven cardigan. This Is Us pieces I love too, these designers showed us we could wear our own and be stylish. Creativity is embedded in us, these designers channeled their creativity into fashion, defining the industry. They are doing their part; the other part is left for the society to buy. The complain used to be Nigeria designers can’t design, LFW proved that myth wrong, Nigeria designers are mad (in a good way), the only way to celebrate them and encourage of course is to patronize them and let’s define our fashion together.

Reading about designers creativity is always interesting and thrilling, you’ll surely wonder what the designer was thinking when creating some pieces you can’t stop wanting, Maxivive. His collection is so cool and creative, he is a wizard, how he attracts you to his show is interesting. At the pop up store at Ikoyi, he gave out a brown envelope, it was an invitation to watch his show the next day and not an invitation if you did not buy the ticket to watch the show, there was #20 in every envelop. I still wonder what that was for, but it’s attractive and not what you’ll expect, the gesture is art and whatever reaction you gave is spontaneous, not what you’ve planned which makes you feel dazed and wow at the same time. Every of his piece speak for themselves, you’ll understand who the person wearing the clothe is. Like the piece Abiola Sonaike wore, I called it military nun, TG Omori’s piece and his attitude killed it, the gracious way he walked on the runway, the crowd could not hold back their excitement and his smoke made the crowd more proud.

Maxivive’s collection preach freedom and equality, you can wear anything you choose to wear, don’t think for the society how they will perceive you, be you and wear whatever you want to wear. Kelechi Amadi’s excitement every time he’s shooting make me always anticipate what the final work will look like, he’s always happy and excited, among the numerous photos that’ll flood the internet, Kelechi’s you’ll still want to see. Image Faculty made watching it from any screen interesting.

The projection is, in some many few years to come our population will be of active people, guess the “you’re the leaders of tomorrow” statement is finally in view. What we do now will spark the country of our dreams, there is a Nigerian Dream, it’s beautiful and green. Your version of that dream will contribute to this country positively or negatively, the question is, will you want the next generation to bless us or cause and lay blames on us like we do the generation that gave birth to us.

We’re growing our fashion community, we have high hopes to correct and get right the challenges of other fashion industries, especially the issue of size. Our hope is to see our popular kind of body/size on the runway, in this society the popular size is not 0 or 2. Since these designers produce for this society, it will be normal to show our popular body on the runway, it will shape and define our industry and instead of criticizing us they’ll appreciate us instead, for solving and designing for the popular bodies. Models treatment too, though they look happy and professional on the runway, some of them went through humiliation before they could walk.

The show ended well and fun, I’m sure will be more fun for people that made it to the after party, me and friend got home very late and stoned the night away.

How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?

Ferthur knew all too well the rumors that now circulated Doma about Lady Omori Kaya. She'd crafted half of them herself after all, and the others she'd heard and simply helped in her own way to exaggerate and perpetuate. The entire script was fit for the stage, and standing in front of her closet she stared at the collection of dresses before her, fit for any theatre.

"The lady was driven mad with fear and paranoia after the assassination of her entire clan." She draped the white of mourning over her fair skin, made paler still by her ordeal in Garlemald, and winter's isolation from the sun. A soft sweep of white powder across her cheeks accentuated the effect. "Are you sure she really survived, herself? She's a ghost that haunts those halls, no one who's gone into that estate has come out again. Maybe she's another one of those Blaspemies."

"Maybe she killed them all herself. She's crazy, possessed by some demon that crawled from the depths of the Omori mines. Who knows what they unearthed in those caves, driven too deep by Imperial demands." One by one she slid long, mythril hair ornaments into her elaborate hairstyle. The shimmering mother-of-pearl plum blossoms that dangled from each didn't detract from their lethal potential should she pull one free again.

Carefully, she placed a veiled hat over the entire ensemble. The sheer fabric wouldn't do much to keep out the chill that lingered in the early spring air, but it would hide the subtle differences in her appearance and that of the true Kaya, should she happen to pass by anyone who had actually met the woman before Doma's liberation.

When she stepped out of the gate and turned toward the street, those few who were close enough to see stopped and stared. Beneath the veil, her lips curled into a smirk. Let the games begin.

[Though... of course that's not her only persona, she has several others, and there are a very few people who know who she is behind the collection of masks. Thank you for the Ask!]
