Thanks To Them Week Day 6 - Sadness
“Collector...Caleb had blonde hair. This is black!!”
Have some nice, gutwrenching Fullmetal Alchemist parallels. The Owl House Wiki mentioned that Philip’s first Grimwalker apparently died on the spot (no idea where this was mentioned). How do I have to imagine this? Did it just fall over dead, or did it go full messed up human transmutation, with protruding ribs and spitting up it’s innards? Either way part of the drama comes from the fact that it just didn’t look enough like Caleb (the hair thing is from the fma manga but it would also be very noticeable upon inspection)

In offense to Lila Rossi
O...kay! Am I the only one who sometimes takes offense to Lila's entire existence? Even if she just stands there, looking at her on screen makes me want to grab the nearest pitchfork! So please, allow me to explain why I despise Lila Rossi in Miraculous Canon, and what my delusions say should happen for Season 6 regarding her character! Call it a stich, I'm still doing it because I can!
To kick things off, it's worth establishing what kind of antagonist Lila is supposed to be in the show. She's introduced in the finale of Season 1, Volpina (yes I know some lists have Origins last, but Collector picks up directly after so it's the finale), and from the moment anybody even mentions her, we get the hint that something is fishy. I'm quite sure it's Alya who first approaches Marinette and tells her about this "new girl" who's showed up at school. Apparently, "she" knows famous musicians, is very talented, etcetera. Marinette raises an eyebrow at this, but there's no real reason to question it yet since the audience has already seen that some of those things are true for her as well (see Jagged Stone). All in all, good little bit of foreshadowing and getting people intersted without going overboard.
Then we actually meet Lila in the library with Adrien. She seems pleasant enough, if a little infatuated, but this is Adrien. He has more fangirls that there are ticks on a goat, so he takes it in stride. All in all, Lila is cheery and excitable, happy to spend time with him. Not the most likable character in history, but also not malicious in any way. This is the expected behavior for some random teenager learning she's classmates with a supermodel. And since we get this whole thing from Marinette's point of view, the audience is encouraged to share her suspicions about Lila. We all know how the rest of the episode goes, and I'll get back to this in a sec.
Point is, when Lila first shows up, she seems interesting. Her lies aren't immediately obvious (or at least like 20% plausible given past events), and she appears to be infatuated with Adrien, just like Marinette. Sure, it looks a bit superficial, but who can blame her? We don't know anything about her yet, and it isn't completely outrageous to think that she might be giving out small lies to make herself more popular since she's the "new kid" and all that.
But after Volpina...we don't see her again until Season 3! Excepting Heroes Day Part 2, where she gets re-akumatized into Volpina for the whole illusion thing, I mean. Lila remains a mystery, and so far has been a nuanced character who we have questions about and know to be a cunning liar. Especially since in Volpina, Lila actually is being smart with her lies to Adrien! She plays up her persona of infatuated fangirl and extracts general information about the book he has, and plays off it by giving minimal details and still attracting his interest. It's only once Adrien has shown her the page about the fox heroine that Lila makes up a story about having the Miraculous in her family, and then she immediately goes off to cover her back by buying a fake Fox Miraculous from a "Gabriel" store.
Side note: This is the one and only time we see this happen, and I still have questions as to why Gabriel Agreste is selling jewerly that only someone with the Guardian's Grimoire would know how to design. Dead giveaway, but that's a general plothole in the show, and irrelevant to Lila.
The thing is, I love Lila in Volpina! She actually does manipulate Adrien pretty well, makes sure to subtly get all the information she needs, and then plays her part perfectly, to the point where he's on her side when Ladybug swings by to berate her for lying about having a Miraculous. Granted, Marinette's intense reaction doesn't do her any favors, but nonetheless Lila is actually good at lying in this episode! Now prepare to throw this out the window with Chameleon! Oh, Chameleon! What is even left to say about this episode that the fandom didn't tear to shreds back when it first aired? Welp, doesn't matter! I'm grabbing Hawkmoth's cane and beating the dead horse one last time, just because Lila pissed me off this badly when I re-watched it recently!
I have genuinely researched the lies that Lila spouts out in this episode, and I'm honestly baffled as to why the writing team even put them there? I'd think it takes more effort to think of something this ridiculous rather than a semi-believable lie? Let's break the two most ridiculous ones down real quick. Getting tinitus from being behind a plane engine while it was taking off. Now, I'm assuming Lila also lost a few braincells in this episode, because while while yes, if that were to happen one would have severe hearing damage...we're talking about going completely deaf. Not to mention that you'd have to ignore countless airport security measures to even get there, and that in some countries, it's very much illegal to be on the runway when a plane is taking off. So Lila would have gone completely deaf, forever, not to mention sustained actual injury from being right behind a plane as it's taking off. Do you see why this is so ridiculously unbelievable? And okay, for the sake of argument let's say that people do believe her. Miss Bustier has zero reaction to this information, which would have presumably caused a responsible adult to panic at the idea of a child sustaining such an injury. Clearly, this episode is designed to devour braincells from everyone present.
Then we move onto the moment that still infuriates me, the Napkin Incident™. I'm not going to go into too much detail because we all know the gist. Lila catches a napkin thrown by Marinette with her supposedly "sprained" wrist, and explains the reason she "hurt herself" was to protect Max's eyes from being gouged out! By a napkin, while he's wearing glasses! In addition, Lila blatantly lies about being best friends with Ladybug and having sustained other minor injuries, and all of this makes me honestly upset because I see what they were going for! I can see the vision here!
Lila lying about being best friends with Ladybug to gain Alya's interest! Lila making herself the victim and exploiting Marinette's eagerness to expose her to gather support from her classmates and take away her friends! She even says that's what she plans to do at the end of the episode! But...this never goes anywhere. Lila is almost entirely absent from the remainder of the season, and just...doesn't follow up on this? Instead all we get is Lila getting outrageous lies that require every other character in the room to lose the entirety of their IQ to even be plausible in the slightest. And the plot wants to pretend as if she's a master manipulator when all she does is tell extremely obvious lies that can be very easily disproven!
Even when she pretends Marinette pushed her down the stairs, nobody reacts in the way they should! Bustier and Damocles should have called in the school nurse, or a doctor to check her over, especially since Lila claimed to be in severe pain. It's completely unreasonable for adults to behave they way these two do whenever Lila is involved in anything. My point is that for Lila to be what the show says she is, she needs plot armor. People believe her just because they have to. It's demanded by the script. And it's infuriating!
It would be another thing entirely if Lila slowly approached each and every classmate and systematically inserted herself in situations as the "friend", or used small lies to slowly degrade Marinette's connections with others. She could ensnare Alya with little lies about Ladybug, and then act concerned and worried when Marinette denied everything without any proof (like we already see her do multiple times). And yes, obviously they can't devote another dozen episodes to focus solely on this, but the fact that we never see Lila even try to do it very much undermines her character. The narrative presents her as a master manipulator who pulls the strings from the shadows, and addmittedly she has some good moments like when she frames Marinette for stealing her necklace...but that can easily be disproven by checking security cameras, or by Adrien speaking up. Remember, he was there in Volpina when the necklace was proved a fake, and Lila is using the same lie here.
Not to mention that in each and every case where Lila lies, even in Season 5, the believability of that lie is solely dependant on the sheer incompetence of every (allegedly) responsible adult around her, and the fact that Marinette's classmates are contractually obligated by the script to believe her without a second thought. The problem here is that Lila isn't good at lying. What she says is either outrageous enough to warrant genuine concern if believed (ex: Marinette pushing her down the stairs. No adult would have made this girl walk back up that staircase without first asking if she was hurt and calling in a medical professional) or so plain stupid that it has everyone wondering where their lost braincells may have slipped off to. To give credit where it's due, Lila's manipulation of Chloe in Season 5 is actually pretty great and consistent with what we've been told she's supposed to be.
But...considering that by this point, (regarding Marinette's friends now) Alya knows her best friend is Ladybug, hates Lila, and was clearly right about the girl being a walking red flag...why does it take a DIY bathroom and a literal 300 IQ scheme to prove that Lila has been lying about things? Like, Alya, Adrien and presumably Nino (if anybody bothered to clue him in) should know that she's full of crap, and suspect her. Don't get me wrong, I love Marinette's whole fake bathroom plan. Genuinely made me marvel at how smart she is. But it also shows that the script still treats Lila as an Avengers-level threat...even if at this point in the story, her lies are just bad. We know from Chameleon she can't even keep her own stories straight (see Lila forgetting which ear her tinnitus was on), and this could have been an amazing detail the gang utilized to start convincing the others that she is lying.
The general problem with Lila's canon character is that she's underutilized, barely appears outside of when she absolutely needs to, and fundementally fails to be what she's been writen as, requiring her Villain Plot Armor™ to kick in and steal everyone's braincells away. I absolutely love the whole "Lila is a fox" characterization, because Volpina was literal genius! The metaphors and symbolism of Lila being cunning and always scheming? Amazing! But...what we actually get to see of her in action? Really, really bad. Also, I am not touching her three mothers with a ten foot pole, not until we get a canon explanation. Personally I ascribe to the Scarlet Lady AU version, but we'll see. Even the more obviously ridiculous things, like Lila having a whole secret lair in the Parisian Catacombs...I'd buy it. If there's IRL raves happening down there, then she could totally have a secret villain lair tucked away behind a few crypts or something.
What I wish we had gotten from Lila is honestly not a lot. Instead of just walking up to people and lying her ass off, I'd prefer to see her be more subtle about it. For Nooroo's sake, just get this girl to actually be cunning like all the fox metaphors want you to think! It isn't that hard to write a scene where she plays the "concerned friend" as Cerise to plant seeds of discord. Buggachat did it very well in "Open my Eyes", and it made me absolutely hate Cerise! And that's a good thing! Lila/Cerise/Iris/Whatever-other-identity-she-has-in-her-closet is meant to be hated by the audience! She literally is a "love to hate" character! And in Open My Eyes, Cerise actually did act as the concerned friend, she was subtle, she didn't always lie but sometimes twisted the truth just a little bit, enough to get the doubts to creep inside someone's head. I got so frustrated because I wanted Adrien to figure her out, but couldn't find a logical way for him to do so in the first place! Do you guys get what I'm talking about yet?
Subtle but convincing. Small and unnoticable until it's too late. That's how Lila should be, because it utilizes the most plot threads made by her lies. I can go on and on with specific examples, but I want to actually post this someday so I shall refrain. In conclusion, there are only two types of Lila. "I'm going to burn your house down and smile while doing it, then find a puppy and kick it into a sewer before emotionally scarring someone to the point of needing life-long therapy" Lila.
And the "cunning, sneaky and subtly manipulative fox who drives people insane slowly but surely as she makes them have an existential crisis" Lila.
I vehemently refuse to accept her canon version, and fear for Season 6 if she doesn't change into one of the above, or at the very least stops being so incredibly in-your-face about it. It's infuriating (in a good way) when the characters don't know, but if the lie is as obvious as "How was my weekend? Oh, nothing much! I just went skydiving on Venus, that's all really!" ...do I even need to elaborate? Because that's what Lila sounds like 96% of the time!
Alas, I digress. Feel free to give your opinion about our resident lying wretch, I need to go take a break before her incompetence drives me insane. I'll see you all soon...but until then, Stay Miraculous everyone!

The Stepford Game: Part 1
(This story features brainwashing, mind control, stepfordization, and unintentional reality warping)
Carrie wandered through the mall, trailing after her friends as they talked excitedly to one another. She was of average height for a 20 year old college student, albeit a bit plain looking. She kept her blonde hair in a pixie cut, and wore the bare minimum when it came to makeup. She didn’t even paint her nails or do anything with them beyond clipping them when they got long. Even her clothes were unremarkable. Just jean shorts, flip flops, and a red crop top. Carrie stuck her hands in her pockets and sighed. Normally she enjoyed mall crawling with the girls, and it was spring break too! But she just felt so listless and bored. Nothing could really excite her. Even her last few dates with her boyfriend, Kent, had ended with her going home early and wondering if she should just end the relationship. But out of the corner of her eye, Carrie saw something that did interest her, at least a little bit. There was a new store, or at least one that she had never seen there before. It looked like an old hobby shop, with dusty windows and old toys and games in the display. Little toy cars and train sets that seemed to be from the 1950s, all made of painted wood and metal. Probably lead paints, she realized with a wrinkle of her nose. Still, the store had caught her attention. All of the other hobby shops and toy stores in the mall had been closed down and replaced by tech stores years ago, so it was an odd duck out. And it seemed to be empty.
“Carrie? Why are you lagging?” Vivian asked. She was Carrie’s best friend, ever since they were little kids. If Carrie was unremarkable and plain, Vivian was anything but. She had ivory skin, with heavy black and red makeup that never seemed to leave her face. Her straight black hair hung down to her shoulders, and she was always wearing black leather and lace. Silver studs dotted her chin, cheeks, and nose, and she had large black gauges in her ears. She wore a black band shirt, which advertized one of the endless list of heavy metal bands she listened to, and which showed off her sleeve tattoos. She had ripped jeans and combat boots to complete the edgy look. And of course, she always looked dour and grumpy. “Huh? O-oh, I was just… Looking at something,” Carrie mumbled. The other girls turned around and joined her, looking the store up and down, with varying reactions. “What is this place?” Linh asked innocently. “Who cares? I gotta head to the apple store and get a new phone!” Mariah complained. Linh and Mariah were Carrie’s other closest friends. Linh was tall, asian, and had long black hair that reached all the way to the bottom of her back. She was wearing an oversized purple t-shirt that hung off of one shoulder and a pair of black and white gym shorts, as well as a pair of glasses with thin wire frames. Mariah was the shortest of the bunch. She was black, and wore her hair in bright, multi colored dreadlocks. The most athletic of the group, she wore a blue basketball jersey and a pair of mesh shorts, as well as some worn out sneakers. “Can we look inside first?” Carrie begged. She wasn’t totally sure why she wanted to check it out, but it… Well, it called to her. “Please?” “I’m with Carrie. It could be fun!” Linh agreed. “I don’t really care one way or the other,” Vivian said with a shrug. “...Alright, fine!” Mariah agreed. “But we’re going to the apple store after! I promised Mark I’d text him tonight when I need a ride home.” “I told you, my mom could give you a ride if you needed,” Linh offered. “Sure, she’s got work early tomorrow morning, but I could probably convince her if we really need to.” Carrie felt a pang of sadness when Linh mentioned her mother. Linh’s mom was always busy with work, ever since her dad had left them. As a result, Linh was just about always at home alone, or spending her time at their houses, but Carrie knew that she missed being able to spend time with her mom. But as much as she’d like, there wasn’t really anything Carrie could do to change that. “Let’s go inside then,” Carrie said, trying to shift over to the less serious topic. She walked into the store, and the other three followed after her. The inside of the shop was just as musty as the outside, and it seemed as though nobody had shopped there in years, if not decades. In fact, the only person inside, aside from themselves, was an old man behind the counter, keeping watch over an old metal cash register. “Talk about old,” Mariah said, wrinkling her nose. “I dunno,” Carrie said. “I think all this old vintage stuff is kinda cool.” “I was talking about the guy,” Mariah snorted. She looked down her nose at an old train set from the 1930s and rolled her eyes. “So what do you sell here?” Linh asked the owner. He was a short, stocky, warm old man, with thick rimmed glasses and a forest green sweater vest. “Oh, old toys and games, mostly,” he explained with a friendly chuckle. “I don’t get too many customers, but whenever I do, they always manage to find something to enjoy.” “I somehow doubt that,” Mariah snarked. If her remark offended the old man, he certainly didn’t show it. He just kept on smiling fondly, as though he were talking to his grandchildren. “I have to agree with Mariah,” Vivian said, speaking up for the first time since they had entered the store. “I haven’t met anyone, our age or younger, who has even a passing interest in a game that doesn’t involve a CPU.” “Ah, people can surprise you!” the man claimed. “Why, just last month, I had a little boy come in with his mother. Just like you say, he wasn’t interested in anything other than his fortnights or call of battlefield, but then he found this little wooden car, over on that wall. The second he laid eyes on it, he couldn’t think of anything else. He begged his mother to buy it for him, and then he ran right on past the game store down the way, because he couldn’t wait to get home and play with the car.” “Suuuure he did,” Mariah muttered under her breath. She gave up on even pretending to be interested in the store’s contents, and so she stayed by the front entrance and leaned against the doorframe with her arms crossed. “I can believe it,” Carrie said, smiling at the old man. “There are still people who like this old vintage stuff. Collectors, you know? They’ve gotta start somewhere.” “I guess…” Vivian agreed, tentatively. Linh, however, seemed to be fully on Carrie’s side. While Linh and Vivian looked at a few old toy soldiers, Carrie wandered off, towards the back of the store, where there was an array of board games stacked in a pyramid. At the very top of the pile was one with a name she didn’t recognize at all. Even the brand on the box, the people who made it, didn’t ring any bells. Milton Bradley they were not. But the cover of the box is what caught her attention, as well as an odd name, which clashed with the date that it was made. “The Stepford Game?” she asked nobody in particular. Wasn’t that story from the 1970s? But the game, from it’s production date to the scene on the cover, dated the game to the early 1950s, roughly twenty years earlier than that horror film her cousin showed her. But the box seemed so interesting, so unique. It had an idyllic image on the cover, showing a group of six housewives chatting on a patio. They were all different races, which seemed surprising, given the era. But they also looked so happy. Genuinely happy, too, not that fakey happiness that old advertisements always involved. Carrie didn’t even have to think twice about it. She was going to buy the board game. Like the old man said in his story about the little boy, she was transfixed. She knew that it was now or never, somehow. If she walked out of the store without it, she would never find this piece of history ever again, no matter how hard she searched. She picked the box up and hugged it close to her chest as she raced back to the counter. “I’ll take this, please!” Carrie said with an eager smile as she set the box down on the glass countertop. “Huh? Really?” Vivian asked, looking up from a pack of baseball cards that the man had been showing to her and Linh. “Oh, cool! I haven’t played a board game in ages!” Linh said. “We can play it back at my house tonight!” Carrie nodded enthusiastically, happy that her friend was down with trying it out. “C’mon, Viv, play it with us?” Carrie asked. It didn’t take much encouragement. If it made Carrie happy, Vivian was willing to do just about anything, no matter how hokey. Vivian gave the box one last suspicious look, but then she sighed and relented. “Alright, I’m in. It’s gonna be weird, but whatever. Weird is my middle name.” What she didn’t admit was that the image of the happy housewives on the cover seemed almost… interesting? She didn’t have the faintest clue as to why, but Vivian had a hard time avoiding looking at them, no matter how many times she forced her gaze away. “That’s the spirit!” Carrie said. “So, um, how much do I owe you, sir?” she asked the man. “For that one? Just $5.” “Wait, really? Even Monopoly costs, like, $20, and that’s new. This has to be worth more than that, right?” Carrie asked, shocked at how cheap the offer was. “Everything here goes for the original sale price, dear,” the old man said with a smile. “And in 1952, that board game was $5, so $5 it is.” “Alright, awesome!” Carrie said as she handed the man a five dollar bill. “Seriously, mister, thank you so much!” “Thank you, my dear! Have a swell time!” “Believe me, dude, we will!” Linh said with a laugh as she threw her arms around Vivian and Carrie’s shoulders. Carrie picked the box up and hugged it close to her chest again as the three headed to the exit, where Mariah joined them. “You’re forcing me to play that dumbass game with you, aren’t you?” she asked, dreading the answer that she knew was coming. “Yes, yes we are,” Carrie insisted with a bright and cheery smile. She had a wonderful feeling about this game. She hadn’t been this excited in a long, long time. ********************* “Mom! We’re home!” Linh said as the four girls climbed out of Vivian’s black Tesla. Her mother was sitting on the front porch, typing away on a laptop. “Mhm. There’s some leftover pizza in the fridge if you’re hungry. But try to be quiet tonight, okay? It might be my day off, but I still have to review these case notes, and I don’t need any distractions,” Linh’s mother said coldly. “Right. Sorry, mom. We’ll try not to cause too much noise,” Linh said, looking a bit crestfallen for a moment, before she put a smile back on her face and led the others inside. They headed straight up to Linh’s bedroom, on the top floor of the house. She was the only one of the group who lived at home year round, since she lived close to their college, and so her room looked, well, lived in. The bed wasn’t made, and there was a pile of dirty clothes in the corner, which Linh shoved into a closet to deal with later. Meanwhile, Carrie set the board game box down on the white carpet, in the center of the room. Vivian sat to her right, Linh sat to her left, and Mariah sat across from her. Carrie opened the box and set the top off to the side, then pulled out the game board. It was set up to look like an idyllic 1950s suburban neighborhood, with white picket fences and green hedges separating rows of identical houses. The starting point was the local grocery store, and the ending point seemed to be a lively barbecue in someone’s backyard, attended by the whole neighborhood. There was also a small speaker set into the center of the board, though it didn’t seem to have any buttons connected to it. Carrie grabbed the rulebook and started skimming through it, reading aloud for everyone to hear while they all picked out a character piece to represent themselves. The tiny plastic figures were all identical, being little housewives with poofy skirts and beehive hairdos, but they were set apart by their colors. Vivian grabbed the black piece, while Linh grabbed the purple one, and Mariah grabbed the blue one. Vivian picked out the red piece for Carrie, knowing that it was her favorite color. “The Stepford Game. Two to eight players. Roll the dice, yada yada, pick up cards from the appropriate piles… Always read the card out loud… Event spaces, chore spaces, reality spaces, and wardrobe spaces… Fail a chore challenge, get a punishment… First to reach the barbecue wins, but the game doesn’t end until everyone arrives. Sounds simple enough, yeah?” “Yep. So who goes first?” Vivian asked. She still couldn’t believe that they were actually playing this thing. The things she did to make Carrie happy… “It says that we have to roll for turn order,” Carrie explained, after finding the appropriate rule. Carrie got a six, Linh got a five, Vivian a three, and Mariah a two. “Okay, so I go first!” Carrie said with an eager grin. She was hoping that she’d be the first one to get a turn. Carrie shook the dice in her hands and then rolled them along the carpet. She got a four, and so she picked up the little red housewife piece and moved it to the fourth spot, which was marked as a wardrobe space. After double checking the rules to make sure she was supposed to do so, Carrie took the top card off of the wardrobe deck and looked it over. The card had a drawing of a woman’s hand, with long, perfectly manicured nails, which were being lovingly painted. There was also text on the card, which Carrie read for the group. “Fresh Coat of Paint. You spent the afternoon taking care of your precious little digits, and now you’ve got a lovely manicure and a new coat of paint to go with it! Keep good care of those nails, dearie!” A second after she finished reading the card, the speaker in the center of the board played a happy jingle, and Carrie felt a little tingle on the tips of her fingers. When she set the card down, she noticed something peculiar. Her nails, which had been cut short and unpainted just a second ago, were now long, perfectly manicured, and colored cherry red. Her eyes went wide with shock, but she played it off as if nothing odd had happened, and set the card aside, then folded her hands in her lap. Nobody else seemed to notice the sudden change, but she had to wonder… What kind of game had she bought, exactly? “Alright, my turn!” Linh said as she snatched up the dice and tossed them again. A three. “One, two, three… Reality space? What’s that mean?” Linh asked once her game piece landed on the tile. “You’ve gotta draw a reality card,” Carrie said, reading from the rule list. “Here you go.” She picked the top card from that deck and handed it to Linh, who began to read it aloud. “Like Mother, Like Daughter: Being a housewife runs in the family. You grew up with a mother who is the spitting image of a 1950s sitcom housewife, and you’ve always wanted to be just like her when you grew up.” Suddenly, the lights in the room dimmed, and everything was swamped in a strange darkness. The hair on the backs of the girls’ necks stood on end, before the lights flickered back on and everything went back to normal. “Well of course I want to be just like my mom!” Linh said, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. “She’s always been my role model!” Suddenly, a voice called out from the other room, and then Linh’s mother poked her head in to see how the girls were doing. “Are you girls having fun?” she asked in a voice as sweet as apple pie. Her hair was freshly permed from a trip to the salon that morning, and she was wearing a bright red shirtdress, with a ballooning skirt pushed out by several petticoats, and a white apron tied around her waist. In her hands, she held a tray of chocolate chip cookies. “I baked you some treats, in case you were hungry!” “Thanks mom! You’re the best!” Linh gushed as she took the plate off of her mother’s hands and set it down on her bed. The four young adults all began munching on the cookies with blissful smiles on their faces. Linh’s mom really was the perfect housewife! No wonder she wanted to get married and become a homemaker herself. It was all she ever talked about! Carrie was so happy that her friend had such a caring, doting mother. Even Vivian and Mariah liked Linh’s mom, even though she was so old fashioned. “Your turn, Vivian!” Linh said, handing her the dice. Vivian tossed the dice onto the carpet, and came up with a six. She moved her little black housewife piece six spaces, and ended up on a wardrobe space. Following what Carrie had done earlier, she grabbed the top card off of the pile and looked at it suspiciously. The card had a drawing of a cartoon housewife on it, with natural red hair tied back in a high ponytail. “Dye Job: You spent a day at the salon, and now you’ve got a brand new style. Being a redhead suits you, doesn’t it?” The little speaker on the center of the board played a jaunty little jingle, and all the girls watched Vivian with wide eyes, surprised by what they saw. A wave of light orange-red color swept across Vivian’s hair, from the top of her head down to her shoulders, until her jet black hair was gone, and she looked just like a natural redhead. Even her eyebrows changed color to match! And once that was done, a black ribbon seemed to appear out of thin air, and tied itself around her hair, pulling the bright red locks up into a ponytail, identical to the one on the card. “Uh… Did everyone else just see that?” Mariah asked, unable to break eye contact. It was just too bizarre. “I think she looks nice! You make a cute redhead, Viv!” Linh said with a giggle. “Yeah!” Carrie agreed enthusiastically. “It really suits you.” “No, seriously! Her hair just changed color!” Mariah exclaimed, pointing at Vivian, who was blushing a bit. “Well, yeah, it did. But it’s cute!” Linh giggled. “Maybe it’s a magic board game?” Carrie proposed. The idea had been swimming around in her head since her turn, when her nails had transformed. She took a deep breath and held up her hands for everyone to see. “My nails changed too, after I drew my card. See? They were normal before, but now they’re manicured, just like the card said,” Carrie explained. Vivian looked a bit relieved, seeing that she wasn’t the only one who had been affected. “Magic?” Mariah asked, baffled. “You think you bought a magic board game?” “Do you have a better idea?” Vivian asked. For her, the idea of a magic board game wasn’t absurd at all. She was Wiccan, and so magic was perfectly normal in her mind. “Old games like these, someone might have cursed it or something.” “So we’re playing a cursed board game, and you’re all just… Fine with that?” “Well… If you find a magic board game, why not?” Carrie asked. “It’s like something out of a movie!” “I guess…” Mariah said. Still, she wasn’t sure this was the best idea. “But if this game goes all Jumanji on us, I’m out.” “My only question is why nothing happened to Linh,” Vivian said, looking at their unaffected friend. “Carrie’s nails were painted, and my hair changed color, but Linh’s card just said a fact about her life. Right now, that’s the weird part.” “Well, it is a reality card, so maybe it knows something about the players, and is saying it?” Linh offered as an explanation. It made about as much sense as anything else. “But seriously, though, Vivian’s hair is SO. CUTE. I love it, Viv!” “Um… thanks, I think?” Vivian said. She could feel the change as it occurred, the tingle that swept across her whole body, wherever she had hair. But she wasn’t upset by the transformation, for some reason. Logically, she could just dye it black again if she really wanted to. And really, it just didn’t bother her. “My turn, then,” Mariah said as she grabbed the dice and rolled, scared of what might happen. With any luck, she’d get a reality space like Linh, and she’s just get a card that talked about how she nearly flunked her statistics course. But no, she got a one, and groaned in frustration. She moved the blue housewife forward one space, onto a wardrobe tile. Vivian handed her a card, which Mariah read out in a worried tone, cursing her poor luck. “A Gift From The Hubby. Your husband bought you a pretty new dress, and it would be terribly rude not to try it on for your date night!” Again, there was a cartoon housewife on the card, though this one looked more like Mariah, with long dreadlocks and dark brown skin. She was wearing a fancy, low cut evening dress, made of a seafoam green satin, with a full skirt and a sheer silver shawl. Once again, the speaker on the board played its jingle, but this time the effect was much more pronounced. Mariah’s clothing vanished in the blink of an eye, but she was only nude for a split second before the outfit from the card had entered the real world and wormed its way onto Mariah’s body. “What just happened?!” Mariah asked, alarmed. Carrie and Vivian were both similarly shocked, but Linh just smiled and patted Mariah on the lap. “What a gorgeous dress! It looks just like the one my mom wears when she goes out to dinner with daddy!” “Yeah, b-but what happened to my jersey?!” Mariah exclaimed, jumping to her feet. “Girls, seriously, this game, i-it’s not normal! Just look at what it did to me! What it did to Vivian’s hair!” “I don’t really mind my hair…” Vivian mumbled, missing the point entirely. “Mariah, calm down, okay?” Carrie pleaded, placing her hand over Mariah’s. “I’m sure this’ll all go back to normal once the game is over, okay? That’s what the rules say, at least.” “Really? You’re sure?” Mariah asked, still very uneasy, and not at all comfortable wearing the fancy vintage dress. She sat down slowly, her petticoats rustling as she awkwardly sat down cross legged on the floor. Her skirt flounced upwards, and ruffly petticoats poked out from beneath it’s hem. Clearly, she wasn’t used to sitting down in dresses. “Yeah, I’m sure. Like I said… The rules say this is all temporary,” Carrie lied. She couldn’t wait to see what happened next.

A Collector’s Course
I wasn’t going to post this here until after I finished chapter 1 but I have no self control so here you go. I’m writing this originally from Wattpad so if you wanna read it there, it’s gharlboro.

Prologue
"Collectors were around long before quirks were common. Once more quirks appeared, they were able to use their powers to the full extent. Collectors start out with a small carving anywhere on their body, typically on the right hip. The person they wish to steal the quirk from must come into contact with the carving or an open wound. The carving enlarges with every quirk collected. The more powerful the quirk, the larger the carving becomes. However, each quirk must be practiced to fit the Collector's body, or else it will force their body into shock. Collectors have been said to be extinct but there is not enough information to support this.”-(Wiki 2001). So far I only have 2 others. The Siren's Call and Lioness. With the Siren's Call I can entrance anyone I choose to listen. This one is hard, I have to fit fighting styles to the lyrics I'm singing. Basically like writing a song, which I'm terrible at. To practice I must make sure I'm in complete solitude as to not hurt anyone and focus on what I wish to happen with every lyric. I can sing at decibels so low, others may not even hear me. I can control who I want to hear my voice. The Lioness is pretty simple, I can do anything a lion can without actually becoming one. Both of these I was born with from my mother and father. Neither of them were Collectors. I have yet to figure out how I became one.
“Honey, you have some mail from..uh..some Japanese High School." High School? "Don't you mean college, mom?" I asked her while walking into the kitchen. "Nope, it says High School." She corrected, handing over the letter. "It's probably some scam or what not."
"U.A. High School. Musutafu, Japan. Please do NOT discard!"
"Yeah, thanks mom." I hustled to my room ignoring the arched brow from her. What would U.A. want with me? I wonder if this was May's doing. I'm gonna kill he- A projection erupted from the envelope once I finally ripped it opened. "Hello, I am the principal of Japan's U.A. High School, Pro Hero Nezu. This is very unusual for us to ask but we wish for you to join our school. We have reviewed your records and your very heroic action this past school year, Ms. (L/N). Our school year has already started and we are willing to let you transfer on account of us. We shall pay all expenses for the move and provide a living quarters if needed. By the time you get this, one of our faculty members will be by to talk to your family. We really hope you take advantage of this opportunity, the world needs a hero like you, Ms. (L/N)."
And with that, it vanished.
U.A. wants me? But why? There's no way they know of my Collecting Quirk. Do they..? No, this has to be about the shooting...
A light knock on my bedroom door interrupted my thoughts. Quickly shoving the U.A. envelope into my notebook and closing it, I answered the door. "Sweetie, there's a man here to talk with us. About you..?" I couldn't read her face. It wasn't her usual cheery self. It was concern and..confusion? I bet it was the faculty member Principal Nezu mentioned. I followed down the short hallway to be met with my father speaking with, "Eraserhead?" This brought all the attention on me.
Oops, I didn't mean to say that outloud.
He straightened at the sound of his hero name, definitely not expecting to hear that, and stood up only to bow back down. "I see you know who I am. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. (L/N)." The suited Eraserhead replied. I copied his greeting, "Please, Mr. Aizawa sir, just call me (Y/N). You guys are very punctual, I just opened the letter." I smiled a bit. Cultural differences. Funny. "(Y/N). What's going on?" Mr. Aizawa returned his attention back to my father, "Mr. (L/N), we understand the incident that happened at your daughter's school may still be quite raw to all of you. However, her courage and outstanding strength showed great heroism and it caught the eye of U.A. High School's higher ups and all of the Pro Hero's. Even the Symbol of Peace himself says he wishes to meet you," he exhaled just a bit from his nose, "as it was said in the letter, this is very unusual for our school. We ask that you join our student body and train to become a hero that you so much deserve to be. You will be joining after classes have started so you do have to work a bit harder to get on track. On behalf of U.A. and all of the other Pro Heroes, will you join us, Ms. (Y/N)?" Mr. Aizawa looked at me and widened his eyes with slight hesitance. He's using his quirk on me?
My parents couldn't see it
but his hair stood up just a..hare.
"Mr. Aizawa, to be completely honest with you, I had no interest in becoming a hero," I crossed my arms. "Especially not a Pro," I shifted my weight from one leg to the other. "But in that moment of adrenaline, I realized what needed to be done. And saved the lives of not just mindless people who only got up because they had to," I wasn't looking at him anymore, I was looking through him. Replaying that eventful day in my words, "but of friends. The future of society. And if it is alright with my parents, I will stay with my sister in Japan and attend U.A." His hair fell.
For some reason, I felt a bit of tension.
"Oh honey! Of course you can go! We would never stand in the way of you!" My mother bombarded me with the straightjacket she calls a hug.
And just like that, I was known as the absurd transfer student from America.
I gotta call my sister.

Morrowind mods: June Highlights
Disclaimer: those are mods that I especially liked this past month and that found a permanent spot on my modlists. I do not claim they are the best mods, nor do I imply others are not good. I am in fact enjoying many other mods not listed here.
Nerevanine unchained by Gavrilo93 and Caeris
The authors of this mod are both excellent when it comes to dialogue-based mods. Check out there page on the Nexus here and here. Do yourself a favour and grab all the one that could fit your playstyle Nerevanine unchained is a chargen mod that let's you start the game as a slave in the Dren plantation. You will have to earn your freedom before getting on with everything else. I love the attention to dialogues, either to make npcs at the Dren plantation more interesting or to make sure your character's story remains relevant during the game. There are a bunch of slave related mods out there, assuming you don't want to become a slaver yourself, if you want a quest, get Brother Juniper's Twin Lamps, if you want to free slaves, grab Caeris' Free the Slaves, if you want to build and army of ex-slaves, get Live Free.
Noone is above the law by Gavrilo93
Surprise! Another mod from Gavrilo, but also  a must for any non-law-abiding character: upon being arrested, the guards will put all stolen items in the evidence chest, but now, all illegal items (dwemer artifacts, ebony, glass, skooma, moonsugar) will be confiscated whether they were stolen or not. Thieves and smugglers rejoice, now you need to break into two chests to recover your stuff. To make your adventures as a smuggler more fun, be sure to install insta-arrest, it makes the guards smart enough to not expect you to come and talk to them if you have a bounty. Cheery on top, No one is above the law is fully compatible with Caeris's Service refusal expanded so you could also role-play as an honest ebony-dealer, Dwemer artifact collector, etc..
The Bounty Hunter by Gavrilo93
What can I say, Gavrilo is the star of the month, his bounty hunter mod adds simple go kill this criminal here or there quests. I love that Gavrilo gives us solid rp experience without fancy models, textures or scripts (don't get me wrong, I love those as well, but there is something about a good straightforward quest mod. Very much in the same vein, check his vampire hunter guild mod, where you are given information to find vampires already in the game and get a reward for every vampire ash you bring.
Main quest overhaul by Gavrilo93
No, you are not dreaming, this is yet another mod by Gavrilo, this one however is a compilation of previous mods that gave more ways to do the main quest: now you can side with the ashlanders, rebel against the empire or on the contrary, bring the empire's law and order to Vvardenfell as well as some immersion mods. If you want to stick to the original main quest but need a set a fresh eyes to make it fun again, get Julan the Ashlander companion (this is the last stable release, there is also a beta for version 3.0)
Randomised chargen by Petethegoat
Some MWSE goodness and something I have been waiting for: a mod that picks your race, gender, face, hair, class and birthsign for you. Perfect with Chargen Revamped - expanded lands that also randomises you attributes, skills, faction and start location: you will never play the same character twice! Pete is the author of a dozen more mods, quite a few of which I use.
Pincushion by Hrnchamd
Yes, the author's name probably gets butchered everytime someone attempts it but this mod is so much fun. Pushing the limits of what Morrowind can do, projectiles shot by you and enemies alike have a chance to stay lodged in their target, much like they do in Oblivion. This is an early release and the arrows feel a bit too large, they can look like they are levitating just inches from the target and you can't pick these arrows up (you can still loot some as per vanilla Morrowind) but, when it's cool, it's cool.
Balmora Guilds expanded by Lucevar
This mod changes and indeed expands the interiors of the Balmora Mages guild, Fighters Guild and Temple. It also has a few quests. Simply looking at the screenshot will attest to the quality of the new interiors. I personally love how the interiors now tell a story, you walk around the guild hall and think, so this is where they eat, this is where they study, and so on.
Ald-ruhn X by Pinsvinnn
I love this mod for a few reasons: Ald-ruhn looks better and has loads of interesting little details: here, someone sat reading a book while chewing on marshmerrow, there someone was playing music for passer-bys, etc. The whole thing is pleasant to look at and immersive. There are little errors or pathgrids and/or npcs wandering in objects but overall, a great town expansion mod.
All these mods are never leaving my permadeath modlist.
We are playing Morrowind permadeath every Sunday afternoon on twitch, come join, we die a lot.

Into the Morning
This too shall pass. She needed not to fear, the dawn was going to come. She\d seen that night was a transient thing. She’d been under a night so long now, it hardly seemed to matter if the dawn was days or weeks hence, only that it was around the corner compared to, well, everything else.
She sighed and leaned against the bars of her cage. At least the last time Eir was in a situation like this her cage was gilded. It didn’t have bars. That, of course, didn’t mean it hadn’t been a cage. Just the nature of the cage was different. As any pet removed from the wilds, there had been the advantage of safety. She missed the fall of Dalmasca. Who knew how many of her old friends had survived the Empire’s wrath, but she had. She owed that to a caretaker.
He was a kind caretaker as such things went. He rarely was moved to violence, and he even had given her books on healing. He took her flesh when it suited him, of course, but that was the nature of her servitude. That seemed almost banal compared to the things these Spoken-smugglers had done to others. A group that helped usher people across the contested border into Gyr Abania and, eventually, Eorzea had offered her their aide. She knew them by reputation -- the Corpse Brigade was a name that certainly conveyed their image well -- but they knew her by reputation as well.
So far, her reputation had ensured her safety. But the difference between posing as a commodity and actually being one was, in the best of situations, a thin line.
Tumblr media
Honestly, she expected to have to do some sort of services along the way, as she wasn’t exactly wealthy. That she hadn’t caused her some concern; would they get their financial support out of her through auction? She had to imagine Eorzean caretakers wouldn’t fall for toxic arcanima as the aether-deadened collector had.
Eir leaned against her cell door and closed her eyes. She could hear faintly the cries of some of the others she escaped alongside. The Corpse Brigade living up to their legends, she reasoned darkly. Still she was unmarred. Puzzling. Worrying. She took a breath, inhaling the putrid stink of blood, sweat, filth and sex all in one hellish bouquet. At least the last time she’d been sold, it had been a nearly-dignified experience.
Was this really her lot in life? To escape once a life of a kept thing only to have that repeated, but worse? Was that better than her sisters who were buried alive under Dalmasca’s ruins? Their sacrifice at least served a purpose, grim though it was. Hers was a repeat of bad fortune. She had wanted to think she’d intimidated the brigands, but the more she listened to them sate their wicked wiles the more she doubted any could intimidate them.
No. Eir shook her head. This was catastrophizing. They had orders from their leader, some woman named Milueda, that Eir be brought to Eorzea unharmed. Whatever bargain she would strike with Milueda, she assumed it had to be either for the purpose of her original enslavement or the medical knowledge that enslavement imparted.
New shrieks of pain joined the chorus. Even if she was to mend these monsters, for certainly if this was how they celebrated they would need a mender, she would need to find her escape. She couldn’t help them treat less valuable resources than her like this. The pained sounds of men and women. Some sounded as though they were dying. Some probably were. This was the Corpse Brigade after all, such a name did not come cheaply.
She turned her gaze out of her cell, to the man who was assigned to be her warden. He was older, likely so he would be less able to take from her what was promised to Milueda, or to Milueda’s highest bidder. She met his eyes, and an odd gust blew the flame he sat beside. Odd because it was thick with aether, she realized.
Eir went to sniff the scent of magic on the air, but all she inhaled was her warden’s blood. She didn’t fully process what had happened before his head hit the ground. His look of confusion mirrored her own -- though his would be on his face eternally.
Tumblr media
From behind the warden, a woman stepped. She reeked of the winds, and they licked the blood from her blade at her command. She flicked it through the air as though she needed to splatter the blood away, like she didn’t know the wind scoured her weapon clean for her. She smiled at Eir, kicked the man’s head aside, and walked to the rabbit’s cage.
“Hang on, this’ll take just a moment,” she sounded bright. Cheery. She leaned her blade against the bars of Eir’s prison and pulled two small pieces of metal from what seemed like special holsters inside her gloves. She went to the lock like a starved man to a banquet, like picking it sustained the woman somehow. It took almost no time to break open the lock and swing wide the gate holding Eir. By the time the woman had, though, the winds around her sword had fallen still.
So the woman was the wind, not the blade. And she was a decent picklock besides. Though there was the matter of Eir’s own chains. It was an even easier matter for the swordswoman’s deft hand, though. Again, a lock defeated and liberation given. She placed her picks back within her glove and took Eir’s hand.
“See, not so bad. Can you walk?” She glanced over her shoulder and then back to Eir. “It’ll not be long now before Millie gets here. I wanna have you lot out before she knows what’s come to pass. Might leave her a love note. Owe her that much.”
Millie. Milueda? Eir blinked but nodded to the strange swordswoman. “Yes.” Her accent was thick, her caretaker had valued it, and she held anything he valued to earn her more slack on her chains, that she could strangle him with them.
The woman lifted her blade again and whipped it, as if she was flipping a great switch. A sheen of green light covered the blade and the air reeked of wind aether again. So much it was as though this woman had no idea of subtlety, or at least no concept of how much magic was needed to do any particular thing. Her emerald eyes appraised Eir and she drew a dagger with her free hand, offering it to the Viera.
“Got a name?” the swordswoman asked.
Eir took the knife and pried the last link off the chain around her neck. It was a meaningless thing, but it felt like a spite to the Brigade nonetheless. “Eir,” said the Viera.
“That’s Garlean for ‘spy’, isn’t it?” the swordswoman looked curiously over her shoulder. Hadn’t she just said hazard was coming? Was this really the time?
Eir gave a smart answer, quick and clipped. “It has not served me well.” That was true, at any rate.
“Well, Airy, let’s get these guys and gals into the morning, hey? We’ll sort everything else out by daylight.” And like that was all she had to do, say the thing and see it done, the woman led the way into the break of day, butchering the Corpse Brigade in her wake.
Tumblr media
When the woman led Eir back to her business, the Viera woman was greeted by a pair of ananta guarding their shrine to Sri Lakshmi. The purple-haired swordswoman waved to them and locked the business’ doors behind her.
One of the giant serpents bowed her head, as if understanding an unspoken command, and she began to usher the other captives away. Eir turned to the savior with a skeptical eye. From her second cage to her third? No. That was not permissible.
“You owe answers,” Eir declared harshly. To punctuate the point, Eir lifted the knife the woman had given her. She was used to striking down a caretaker with their own gifts. She’d do it again.
This stunned the plumhead. But she waved her hand in the air as if clearing smoke. “Yamini, it’s fine.” Eir hadn’t noticed the aggressive stance of the ananta behind her, but the snake relaxed at the woman’s command. “Eir, right? Hells, we need to get you a new name. I’d say just change to Air, but that’s taken by some Garlean conscript already... I’ll work on it.”
“My name is not yours to dictate,” Eir spat.
“Just so,” admitted the woman. “I’m Andromeda. Call me Rommie. This place is a sanctuary for people who’ve had a rough run of it.” Maybe she noticed something in Eir’s skepticism, because she added. “Also a pleasure house. Those two things are related, but not interdependent. If that’s not a life you want, you’re free to leave or seek gainful employment with us using other talents -- bartending maybe?”
Eir lowered the dagger, but her posture was still stiff as a rail.
“I have a lot of scores to settle with the Brigade,” explained Andromeda. “Particularly Millie. Saving you lot was just a day’s work. You’re free to go, but if you want you can get cleaned up here, and seen by our medical staff. We’ll also give you a change of clothes.”
“Why.” Her tone was level, giving nothing.
Andromeda lifted one shoulder in a half-shrug. “It’s what I do.”
The plum walked away, and Ritz was escorted to get washed and changed. She’d skip the examination, she was uninjured. But she was intrigued. She needed coin, that much went almost without mention. She was flat broke. What little she owned was left in the hands of the Brigade. And, also, if this was what Mistress Andromeda did as ‘a day’s work’, that seemed worthy of her attention. And, if this plum was all talk and was just another caretaker to abuse their charges, then Eir needed to be there to do what must be done. Either way, she figured as she cut away the last blonde streaks from her hair, she needed to be in this place.
It was time to get a job.

How to Buy Canvas Prints
You may really like the notion of having walls covered with enticing other types of wall art and canvas prints, if you're an art lover.
There.
I have a friend that has a beautiful canvas painting hanging in her guest room. It's bright colorful and cheery. And I want it.
But, quality art paintings and prints are costly! Unless you are living with a budget that allows for hundreds or thousands of dollars per month in discretionary income, you may be unable to justify spending tons of money on an art collection.
Fortunately, there are ways without spending a fortune that you can purchase canvas prints.
How to Buy Canvas Prints
One of the difficulties with canvas prints is that they can be expensive, as I mentioned previously. It's not unusual to find canvas prints that cost hundreds of dollars apiece.
I guess if you've got an unlimited budget, that is fine. For most of us spending several hundred dollars is not an option.
Luckily, spending a month's worth of grocery money isn't your only choice.
Here's a list of several sites that sell canvas prints for much cheaper than you might think. There are two types of canvas prints you can get for your home.
And I'll attempt to share as much as I can about what every company charges for transport, etc. as well.
The DIY canvas prints can be a excellent way to add personalization to your art collection.
Or, you can create one which shows a picture of a character scene in your place or in your yard.
Whatever home décor style or your art style prefers, there are affordable canvas prints out there for you. Here are some of the greatest websites to check out to purchase those prints.
1. Canvas on the Cheap
Canvas on the Affordable specializes in DIY canvas prints.
As you can see, the size choice can fit any décor style. You can see it, Once you upload the photo.
So that you can see how the edges of the print will appear you can tilt the picture in ways. This is a feature of the site which I found helpful.
Bonus: you could include extras such as a wall hanging system, a wall mount or framing. You may request quality wrapping for extra protection.
Shipping with the company will vary based on the size of the photograph you choose to order. When I made an 11×14 photograph, it cost $14.08 for the photo and $14.80 for standard shipping. You can even choose to expedite shipping but it will cost you more money.
I have actually ordered from this business personally. I chose a wonderful photo of my four children to have converted into a 16×20 canvas print. The company did a excellent job, along with the print came.
Bonus: my print came in a box which helped ensure it was free from shipping damage. I've got the print hanging on a wall in my living room, and I get compliments on it.
People are always shocked when I tell them how the print was supposed to get done. These DIY prints will make a excellent gift for grandparents and others.
1. Virtosu Fine Art
The team in Virtosu Art Gallery offers museum quality framed canvas prints.
Virtosuart.com prints are more expensive than some of the other places we have mentioned, but the company says the museum quality of these prints makes them worth the price.
Bonus: they were offering a discount or free shipping When I checked the website for this article! Virtosuart.com is your place for art collectors and corporate art customers.
2. Paint Your Life
Paint Your Life is a company that will turn your picture to a masterpiece that is painted. Bonus: they charge a LOT less than most artists or companies do for painted portraits.
And, they come with a 100% money back guarantee. The process for getting your picture turned into a painted canvas portrait is easy.
You begin choosing the medium you want the painting
oil
acrylic
charcoal
watercolor
pastel
pencil
You can choose the artist that you would like to create your portrait. The site has bios for every artist you may browse. Next, you include any directions for the artist and upload your photo.
You can have them remove items, combine photos or make other changes. The artist uses your instructions to create a digitally enhanced photo. Once you've approved the photo that is enhanced, they get to work making it in the medium you selected.
You'll get updates along the way and you can requests as many revisions as you like. Your artist will keep working until you're content with the final product.
In addition, you simply have to put 10% down to start, and they have interest-free financing alternatives for selections over $99.
3. Redbubble
Perhaps you have heard of Redbubble? Redbubble is another website where artists are invited to upload their artwork. Redbubble then does the work of turning the custom art into goods for sale.
Their art will be turned by many of the artists into t-shirts, pillows, mugs -- and yes, canvas prints. The prices here are more expensive than you'd find at Canvas on the Cheap or Dresslily. However, they're still inexpensive.
I found 12×8 prints for sale starting at the $48 range. You'll pay shipping and handling too depending on the size and weight of what you purchase. Bonus hardware is included with printing orders.
This is a superb place if you're craving creativity and/or quirkiness to search for canvas prints.
4. Easy Canvas Prints
Easy Canvas Prints works to Canvas on the Cheap. By uploading your photo, you begin.
Easy Canvas Prints offers sizes from 8 the way up to 30×40. Or, you can request a custom size and receive an immediate quote.
They will show you what it will look like, after you upload the photo you would like printed on canvas. When you're happy with the results your approval is given by you, and Easy Canvas Prints has to work.
Pricing for 8×8 prints start out as little as $4.29, and include your choice of wall mount or wall hanging system.
Another great feature: you can get your canvas print that is finished .
5. Canvas People
Museum quality photo canvas prints are offered by the team at Canvas People. Up to now, they've sold over 1.4 million prints worldwide.
Canvas prints here are more expensive than a number but the company says they are made by that the museum quality of the prints .
Besides quality canvas prints, Canvas People offers enhancement choices . You can get your prints done buy framed canvas prints in a Sepia enhancement, black and white or other choice.
Bonus: When I checked the site they were offering free shipping and a discount! People promises speedy delivery too -- a great benefit when you're ordering a present.
6. Art.com
Art.com sells all kinds of varying art, and they'll do DIY canvas prints also. You can pick from unframed canvas, canvas or canvas sets. Canvas sets are sets of more or two prints which make up one picture or a group of pictures.
You can choose from a variety of prints that are pre-designed. They had lots of Impressionism and watercolor prints, prints made from photos and other styles of art .
The prices here were a bit higher than Canvas on the Cheap. As an example, a 10×8 DIY canvas printing started at a sale price of $26.39. Most prints started at around $50.
Shipping and handling charges varied depending how quickly you would like to receive it and on what type of print you are ordering.
7. DeviantArt
DeviantArt is a website where artists can showcase and sell their artwork. If you are an artist, you can upload and showcase your art just for fun or for the exposure. Or, you can opt to offer your art to discerning customers.
What does this mean for the art aficionado who wants a group of thought-provoking art? Simply that this is a great site for finding original canvas prints.
Prices will be different, but I found artists' costs to be reasonable.
DeviantArt doesn't sell the DIY prints where you can upload your photo and convert it. However, they do have an expansive selection of art you won't find on other art websites.
There if you purchase one of these prints for your home or office. You receive a massive choice of hidden canvas because you're shopping from artists that are largely unknown.
Bonus: you get to support up-and-coming artists working to turn their craft.
8. Minted
Minted is a website that sells a fun mixture including canvas prints, of stationery, wedding invitations and house décor.
They do have a large choice of ideas for turning your photographs that are personalized into other or framed creations. Minted doesn't appear to sell DIY canvas prints, but they do have canvas prints.
You can get many 5×7 pre-designed canvas prints starting at about $20. For an extra cost you can opt to have your print framed.
When I checked the website's shipping page, it said that all unframed art ships for $3.95 for the first item. Additional unframed items are thought to ship at no charge.
However, canvas and other prints start at $4.95 for shipping depending on the size you purchase. Canvas prints will cost you shipping fees.
9. Dresslily
Dresslily sells many different items including home décor and accessories, clothing, shoes, and handbags. Their pre-made canvas prints are some of the most inexpensive I've seen.
You'll see a good deal of different options for canvas prints, when you check on their site. From landscape, to flowers to travel, they have got a wide selection available. And it's not uncommon to find prints there for before tax or shipping under $15.
However, on a number of the prints (but not all) there's a disclaimer that reads"Product photography is for example purposes only. Customers should carefully consider this before buy."

10. Etsy
Etsy, the famous DIY artists' site, sells canvas prints. I found many alternatives on the site for pre-designed canvas prints. From film scenes to landscape scenes, they had an expansive selection of canvas prints.
So I could have missed it, the website is big, but I could not find artists that would turn your photo into a mechanically produced canvas print.
But, I did find other fun choices, including an artist who paint it and would take your favorite photo. I found a couple of artists that print it and will take your saying.
All these options were available in varying sizes. The prices varied depending upon the artist. As could be expected for a custom painting Evidently, the photo canvases were somewhat on the side.
The pre-designed canvas prints along with the custom were mostly reasonably priced. There is a lot to choose from on Etsy, and a lot of canvases you won't find at your local big box store.
