Fortune Lenormand oracle/art deck - new edition + limited time free readings!

I'm excited to announce my Fortune Lenormand oracle/art deck is available again in a new edition (the biggest change: it now has a custom box!) yay!!

To celebrate, I thought it'd be fun to offer some free readings, the kind I used to do back when I was tabling at events! I personally find the 36-card Lenormand system accessible and enjoyable for both personal and creative prompt-type purposes. These readings will use the 2-card spread, which is easy to do!

How this works

To submit a request for a free reading, send it through my ask box between now (Fri Oct 27) and Sun October 29, 2023 midnight EST.

Optional: Along with your request, include your question and two numbers of your choice from 1-36.

I'll do as many readings as I can before the end of October.

One question per person please!

I am not taking anonymous requests and these readings will be posted publicly. So don't share anything you're not comfortable with strangers on the Internet seeing!

I reserve the right to turn down a reading for any reason (the most likely reasons are if a question is rude/tasteless/inappropriate etc. or if I get too busy and can't do all the requests I get).

Asking your question

Your question must be an open-ended one, and not a question that can be answered with "yes" or "no".

Ironically, even though this deck is called "Fortune", I use them as tools for self-reflection and creative stuff, not fortune telling. It is an opportunity to open a dialogue with your self/subconscious!

For example, instead of "Should I [go to this event, do this thing, ___" or "Am I/Is someone/something else going to ___, try something like "What should I consider if I were to ___?" "Why do I want ___?" "What am I afraid of/hopeful for with regards to ___?" "How might I approach ___?" and so on.

You can learn more about this philosophy, and also get ideas for phrasing your question, on my site - check out the section that starts with "Framing your question" and up to/including "Reading Examples".

Also, you can have fun! Ask a question for your OC or a character you're writing! Ask questions for creative prompts! "I'm stuck in a fanfic I'm writing about X, Y and Z doing [whatever they're doing] and need an idea!" "I'm designing a new character, what could I incorporate into their personality or backstory?" "I want to draw a picture of my OTP and would like a prompt for inspiration!" and so on.

Decide what your question is before you make your request and don't forget what it is!

Seems obvious, but I'm reiterating this because you don't have to tell me your question when you make your request.

If you do tell me your question, it may help me give you more specific suggestions for how you can interpret the cards. If you're asking a creative prompt question, having details means I can suggest more relevant ideas for you to use as jumping off points.

If you don't tell me your question, please write it down somewhere or do something so that you don't forget it by the time I get around to your reading.

Obviously this is an honour system thing, but it doesn't really matter because if you sneak-change your answer, the only person it really affects (and potentially confuses) is yourself, haha.

16. Can they stay up all night just talking?

Honestly, 50% of the time probably not. Mostly cause Gin seems like the type to get pissy if he doesn't get enough sleep oops. But, if he happens to have a nightmare or is all jittery because he happened to overhear/watch something ghost related, then Klara does her best to stay up with him and talking about random things to get his mind off of it.

30. Your OTP gets to pick out each other’s outfits; what is each wearing?

Klara would probably go to the store and choose something like this for gin. Anything that makes him a bit less raggedly while also making sure he feels relatively comfortable with lol. I can see her also choosing outfits that have a pastel color scheme. [klara vc] it's time for your pink era, gin ^-^

Gin, on the other hand...this is a hard one. Not because I don't have any ideas, but it's cause it's Gin-freaking-toki 😭that man never has innocent intentions 75% of the time. But, I feel like if he was genuine about it, he'd pick out an informal and simple komon most likely from the bargain bin that he thinks she'd like as well.

for some reason he chooses her outfits that have a light blue/white color scheme going on. wonder why. (sidenote #2: i went down a rabbit hole, looking through so many pics of komon on pinterest jpn oops)

39. Who would rescue an injured animal and nurse it back to health? What would the other think?

Reina is slightly more likely to do it, but we all know hijikata has a soft spot for animals. Just look at the kabukicho cat arc and the episode with the lil puppy...honestly, he might act like he doesn't care as he offers to lend a hand (though he'll perish on the spot if someone walks in on them trying to nurse a small animal back to health).

...on the other hand, she'll nearly get a heart attack if she catches him trying to feed said animal mayonnaise.

51. What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?

WEEPS...idk if this counts per se but i feel like since hijikata is always so busy with work, he lets her choose what to do whenever they have a date. Also patiently and quietly listening to her rambles even though he doesn't know anything about juj*tsu ka*sen (and is lowkey tempted to tell her that she shouldnt read shounen jump and should switch to MAGAZINE, the superior option).

meanwhile reina does her best to make sure that he's eating a decent meal, even willing to walk to the headquarters just to deliver him some food. she never forgets to top it all off with mayo. also i like to think that whenever theyre both busy doing their own stuff, they like to exchange letters or messages especially since they both find it easier to communicate sometimes via writing/text than verbal😭the power of toshifollow followkata!!

thanks for asking! gonna go ahead and answer these for fire emblem since thats the fandom im most active in as a fandom

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

oh man, a lot. a lot of heterosexual ones, i feel like? alm/celica. merric/elice feels so abrupt and meaningless in the way that basically any of the non-main-protagonist NES game relationships do, even when they try to retcon it in in the remakes, because it just...forget chemistry, they don't have any interactions! like what!!

felix/sylvain. like, i dunno, i just don't really feel any emotions looking at these two. they are fine? they're fine. i don't...that's it. lmao

also, honestly to an extent i don't really get tharja/robin in awakening. like, i love both characters on their own, but they don't really gel for me in the same way they seem to for a whole lotta other people lol.

ALSO! not fire emblem and i am not in a "fandom" as such for full metal alchemist but shipping roy mustang and riza hawkeye Does Not Gel For Me. i get why people do it but like...i do not understand it.

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?

i bear grudges especially towards Arvis FE4 (because the narrative treats him as noble and well-intentioned, and basically just tells us that he means good without doing literally anything to back it up) and Gray Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (because i am so fucking sick to death of "guy bothers uninterested woman until she relents into having a relationship with him" AND they always end up in a fucking relationship in their end cards even if you didn't unlock any of their supports).

also shoutouts to olwen FE5, who rules hard and who i love don't get me wrong, but whose supporting cast (fred and reinhardt) are like...way less cool than her. i especially do not vibe with reinhardt, considering he chooses not to defect despite presumably knowing about the child hunts (!), meaning the intended arc of "tragically you cant recruit this cool dude" falls flat because...is he really that cool if he can't be arsed to stop perpetuating tangible horrific evils in fiction? then again, he is working with ishtar, who is described as saving as many kids as possible--but also that only gets mentioned in her other game, which means it's not brought up directly with reinhardt--look the point is i'm not interested in him he's a boring man and i don't know why he has sixteen different alts in Heroes when olwen has one. olwen is the cooler fucking sibling get a grip lmao

i also hate virion (any man who is introduced chasing after a vocally uninterested woman is not worth my while, doubly so if he does not have any sort of tangible character arc), berkut (GOD. AWFUL man. somehow manages to fridge his own wife??? you should be able to recruit rinea in echoes i am forever peeved about this. he's an excellent villain all the way up until you can't recruit rinea about it), and perne (because the narrative apparently believes that kidnapping and torturing a young girl into doing your bidding via frightening her with insects is, like, not a big deal you guys don't sweat it).

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

i love Kris from new mystery of the emblem, i think she rules, she's a goofus. big fan. also all the new mystery gang tbh. i would say i don't understand why people hate her so much, except i do, and it's the same old same old "everything was better in the old days, when we didn't have support conversations or characters with more than 1 line of dialogue" that you get in every fandom, but i've certainly noticed in fire emblem.

i love edelgard, but i wouldn't say the fandom doesn't: i would say some of the fandom doesn't, but it's a split it would seem. i fucking adore monica but so does everybody else with taste. i really like wendy (inasmuch as anyone in the binding blade has a character), admittedly half due to her class as armored knight and half out of spite at how her wiki page says she's non-viable, but there's a solid half in there to appreciate her on her own merits also. this is again a mixed opinion and not a totally unpopular one, but i love ingrid, i think her story arc is fascinating. i LOVE jill i think her story arc is super compelling, she's one of my favorites. look, i don't know, who's unpopular? if you get me a list of "unpopular" fire emblem characters i will probably pick out every woman on there and be like "aw cmon she's cool/underutilized/worthy of appreciation". except camilla.

2.) Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

KillerVibe, aka Cisco/Caitlin. I do get why it's a popular ship for those two, but I just can't. Their platonic love for each other is so lovely and I think I happened upon them right as I was feeling a bit burnt out on the 'men and women can't be just friends' trope. So these two being bffs and never a hint of anything else no matter how much they clearly loved each other?

Beautiful. Why would I want anything else for them?

Colette/Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia (which was just re-released on the latest consoles, if you haven't played it before and are looking for a new game to play... pick this game up, it's so good!!!!) - it's not enough to turn me off a fic for there to be Colette/Lloyd going on but I just... read them as having a sibling relationship. There's nothing really romantic about their interactions - honestly the only person who really says anything shippy about them is Genis. And Lloyd sounds like an exasperated older brother telling Genis to shut it when he does. Like... Colette is in many ways Lloyd's person - he does love her and he pays closer attention to her than the others do because he knows she's got a bad habit of not admitting when something is wrong. I just don't read what's there as romantic.

7.) Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Olicity. Oliver and Felicity had some really cute ship teasing going on in the early seasons. But when they actually acted on it... I can't really say they brought out the best in each other. Felicity struggled to trust Oliver but would paper over that with complaints about Oliver doing the same to her. But Oliver's issues were, at least, born out of ptsd and a lack of mental health self care. With Felicity's character, it just seemed like the writers were Flanderizing her to some degree and her character suffered a lot. Most irritatingly, Oliver grew further away from his comic book self instead of closer as was initially promised. I think their lowest point was hijacking the Westallen wedding, where Felicity made someone else's big day about her and Oliver just... went with it. But she also made a scene at the rehearsal when she'd thought Oliver was re-proposing to her and he wasn't. It was very uncomfortable to watch.

They were a lot better at dealing with other people without each other, but... *waves hands in a resigned fashion* together they were just kind of obnoxious in the end.

14.) Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

I guess that depends on the part of the fandom.

Eobard Thawne was massively mishandled post S2. He should have remained a posthumus character. All his interactions with Barry's future should have been in Eobard's past. Either with Barry traveling to the past to interact with EoWells or Mattobard showing up from points in his timeline that predated killing Nora Allen. S2 set that up really nicely, but unfortunately there was no follow through and they went in a different direction.

We'll never know for certain that Iris chose Barry because she was truly in love with him and not because everyone was saying it was her destiny. Even their E2 counterparts were married. If everyone tells you that something you aren't sure you want is the best thing for you ever and you'd be foolish to not do that thing then... if you do what you've been told by everyone in your life, is it actually because you want to? Or because you think you're supposed to? The show did, finally, sort of kind of not really acknowledge this. But... S9 when they've been married since S4 was... not the time to do that.

In S3 Future Barry should have been the one with the facial scars and Savitar with the ridiculous Emo!hair.

I... actually really enjoy Zoom coming off S1 with all the parallels that Team Flash is so oblivious too. It's only because of Savitar (and not to forget the Rival and Trajectory) that I feel like the show got overloaded with too many evil speedsters in the first three seasons. There were five - that was about three too many. (That said, Zoom probably should have been the S3 villain with S2 centered on the Rogues. Give the team some breathing room after dealing with Eobard.)

23.) Unpopular character you love?

Eobard Thawne. I will complain about him being overused and misused all day if prompted, but there's a reason why I gravitate to him as a lot as the main villain in my own writing. S1 Eobard on the Flash in particular is just such a fascinating and compelling villain. And Matt's take on him over in S2 of Legends is really great. His exasperation with his co-villains makes them all such fun.

Julian Albert. He was very unlucky in love, falling for Caitlin who clearly just... was not interested in return. And very unfortunate to have whatever was going on with Savitar and 'Alchemy'. But he gave Barry a much needed coworker at the CCPD. (Barry cannot be the only CSI in the entire CCPD. He just. Cannot. But it certainly seems that way sometimes, doesn't it?) If they'd followed through with making the not-Caitlin-not-Frost character in S4 the way S3 seemed to clearly intend, then perhaps Julian might have become the new team medic? Alas, we just get a single brief mention of him in S4 and not even a proper send off for him.

27.) Least shippable character?

Hmmm... Bart since I just haven't seen enough episodes with him to get a good read for his personality at all. And since most of the characters I have seen him interact with are either his parents, his grandparents, his honorary grandfather (Jay Garrick), or members of Team Flash who are presumably honorary aunts and uncles... who would I even ship him with? Certainly not Godspeed.

Sherlock and Joan from Elementary both read as different identities under the arospec umbrella that while I ship them as a QPR together, shipping either of them romantically with anyone - including each other - just feels like it'd make them out of character. They say they love each other in canon without it being automatically romantic. (big deal to me!!!!) So they're equally least shippable to me on that show. And it bewilders me that people do ship them romantically. (Did we not watch the same show? Did people not see how aro they are and how their friendship defies amatonormativity? *heavy sigh*)

Her design! I think she looks super adorbs! I love how she has this calm presence aswell, I think it goes with her whole personality. Her outfit is so freakin cute and the lil backpack is just aaaaa🥹🥹

Don’t get me wrong, I do LOVE her voice but I kinda hate how she sounds a bit emotionless :’). Though, I think it adds to her character a bit! So I don’t hate it or anything.

•brOTP:

Her and Hajime. I also like them as a ship, but their relationship really impacted me haha. I really love boy x girl platonic friendships without it being romantic so that may be why I love them so much!!

•OTP:

Soniaki! I love Sonia and Chiaki so much, from when she called Chiaki an adorable shortcake and hen she hugs her and the scenes of them together GAH it’s so stinking cute! And they’re always together on merchandise as well!

But what really made me ship them, was chapter 5. Sonia’s rebuttal, you could tell she was really at her breaking point. She just lost Gundham, and she was going to lose Chiaki as well! Both of them were her best friends during school life and the game as well, so it really hurt me to see her so upset. But it kind of made me think..did Sonia only have platonic feelings for Chiaki? With Chiaki blushing while Sonia hugs her and seeming happy with her around makes me think their relationship was a bit romantic lol.

•nOTP:

Hmm, I don’t really know! If I had to sayyy, maybe Junko (definitely) or Izuru. I would much rather prefer her with Sonia or Hajime.

•random head canon:

She bought Sonia a matching game console for her birthday!

•unpopular opinion:

She was one of the most important characters in the whole DR franchise. her death quite literally brainwashed her whole class!

6. What’s the detail you wait on bated breath for readers to notice?

I think you might have guessed this already from how I (insufficiently, sorry, getting to that) reacted to your comment on the sunrise fic, but I really waited for people to catch on to the 'almost 14' symbolism. I didn't even know how much I had waited for that until you (and also that other commenter a bit) pointed it out.

8. How often do people catch onto your little details?

Uhm, I'm not sure. I don't think that often? Because, again, your comment only made me realise I plant little details into my fics. And then probably forget about most of them immediately afterwards. Or maybe I really only did it in that one fic?

I do remember one time someone caught onto a detail that wasn't even there. I loved that! They thought I had written Aziraphale and Crowley into 'A Family Wedding' when I had meant Sally Sparrow and Larry Nightingale. That actually changed my way of seeing the story, it's a 'Good Omens' -crossover now :D

11. What’s a fanfic idea you haven’t done yet?

Hmmm, right now the compartment of 'fic ideas I'm obsessed with but haven't written anything for yet' is rather empty, actually. There is a prompt for December in the otp of the year challenge that says tattoo parlor AU and it really tempts me.

Imagine the human!Doctor working in a tattoo parlor - people have started calling her 'the Doctor' both because she is so good at it that it seems she must have a PhD in tattooing and because her tattoos heal incredibly fast - and Mels walks in, legally not old enough to get a tattoo yet but in reality obviously old enough. So she's decided it is time and she has basically a PhD herself in bluffing and a fake I.D. on her hands. But the Doctor sees through the bluff immediately and refuses to ink her. So they get talking and in the end Mels storms off in a huff (but secretly decides she's definitely coming back once she's old enough on paper).

There is also a ton of movies/stories I would love to exchange the characters for dw characters instead, but I don't think I will ever write those. I had been thinking about a dw retelling of D.e.b.b.s or 36 questions for example.

If you don't know 36 questions, it is a podcast musical about a married couple that have recently split up because the husband - Jace - found out his wife - Judith - has made up a fake identity - Natalie - when they met and since stuck to it, never telling him the truth.

River would make an excellent Judith Forth, I think, with the fake name and having died before and running from people who like to alter memories... And there would be a nice twist to the whole name debate: 'you gave me a wrong name/identity!' 'you're literally calling yourself 'the Doctor'!' 'Yes, but everybody knows that is just an alias. And I told you my real name later!' Also, the Doctor brooding in a cottage that is coming apart by their renovating talking to an otter duck is an adorable image. And the Jace!Doctor's biggest fault being to abandon everything and run away immediately when things get tough is so fitting too. Not sure which Doctor I would want to cast in this. Probably 12 or 13.

Mahiru?

Hey anon!! I'm so sorry for the late, it's really been a long time I'm sorry 😓 I didn't mean to ignore you, but let's talk about Mahiru!!💖🥰

Favorite thing about them: I really really like how much she cares about everyone, she deep down always just wants the best for others and I admire that! She deserved much more, I even got to spend one free time with her during my playthrough and I planned on spending more until... I was really sad she died 'cause she really seemed like she would be an important character, I was really enjoying her presence. -

Least favorite thing about them: The most obvious answer everyone knows, but that's not what I'm going to talk about. What I'd like to point out about her in this point is how she reacts if people don't give good constructive compliments about her photos or anything in general. I don't think she's wrong, we should all learn to give better criticism and arguments about the things we like or dislike, but that doesn't mean we have to do it all the time or also to things that we aren't very knowledgeable about. Not everything that we like, see or enjoy needs to have a detailed justification to why we like it. Her talent is photography, which is a form of art, and I think art is something that everyone can enjoy and interpret in many different ways, and it can also give people many different emotions. Not everyone is comfortable to share those emotions, even less with the very artist/owner of the art. Some people are just shy, just because someone says "it's cool... pretty" doesn't mean they can't take in the beauty of the art, they may just not feel like sharing it or go on a long analysis at the moment. It always depends on the situation, there are moments and places where people are supposed to give their best arguments, analysis and such about things but when randomly asking someone about their opinion on something, she should be the one to be clear she wants a more constructive opinion before judging anyone for how they reply. -

Favorite line: "I want to visit different worlds and take pictures of people's sparkling smiles there". I think this quote captures well how much Mahiru cares about everyone along with her love for photography. I also love to see people smile, seeing people smile fills me with life that's why I always try my best to smile. I love this about Mahiru so much. -

BrOTP: Hmm I don't know really, maybe Fuyuhiko? I like how they do even have a sweet "make up" interaction in UTDP and it shows how they could have gotten along in different circumstances. -

OTP: I don't really have any OTP with Mahiru, I mostly stay neutral with any ship with her, I think she'd fit best with an extroverted enthusiastic character like Ibuki which can make her relax and realise she can have fun once in a while. Also in the anime I did like her relationship with Sato despite of everything that came out of it, I do like them together. -

NOTP: Hmm... ok I don't actually like her and Hiyoko. They are very cute together YES, if we forget completely what kind of person and character Hiyoko is. Why did Hiyoko even "choose" Mahiru?? Simply for being a "little nice" and respecting her?? What did others ever do to her??. She was rude to everyone from the START, before they judged her for anything, before anyone was ever rude to her and the only reason they were was because of her OWN attitude. After Hiyoko explained why she couldn't take baths, NOT A SINGLE CHARACTER JUDGED HER, Mahiru was simply the first to offer help. NOT TO MENTION SONIA OFFERED TO HELP HIYOKO IN CHAPTER 3!!!!!!! YET THE WAY SHE TALKS ABOUT SONIA IN HER LAST FTE, TELLING HAJIME TO GO BEAT HER UP, WTF?!?!?! THE VERY LAST FTE!!!!!! How she's so incredibly rude to everyone but then suddenly out of nowhere cares about Mahiru, I don't buy it at all. In her FTEs we see Hiyoko be so rude, manipulative and gaslights Hajime into doing things for her, who's to say she wouldn't do the same to Mahiru? Because Mahiru is her "favourite" ? I don't think so and I don't care either way. Hiyoko comparing Hajime to her dad about how he did everything to her is basically her saying her dad babied her and always did everything for her, and that's what she ended up liking about Hajime, and that's what she likes about Mahiru, all she wants is someone who will always be by her side and do whatever she wants while she makes NO EFFORT to respect anyone around her. She constantly cries and manipulates others into doing what she wants and she never gets ANY punishment for her actions. I think like I said in the "OTP" about Ibuki, how Mahiru would be best with someone more extroverted and enthusiastic, this is why it seems like her relationship with Hiyoko seems to flow well, but Hiyoko herself doesn't. Hiyoko even, EVEN made Mahiru herself a victim of the lust drink or whatever of the anime that got everyone horny. She did that to Mahiru TOO. And that's why I'm pretty sure Mahiru could easily be just another one of Hiyoko's victims. Mahiru deserves better. -

Random headcanon: Hmm I don't know sorry :( -

Unpopular opinion: My unpopular opinion is probably my disliking of her and Hiyoko's relationship because no matter how many people I see dislike Hiyoko, they always comment how sweet she and Mahiru are, and sure they are, but also not when I think about it. -

Song i associate with them: Okay this is just too obvious of course "Photograph" by Ed Sheeran. -

Favorite picture of them:

Just like Mahiru likes taking pictures of people smiling, I like to see her smile. So definitely whenever she smiles, she's so precious! 🥺💖

Roronoa Zoro the actual love of my life. Sanji was a very close immediate second (that I dragged my feet about forever bc I have to be like tsuntsun and obnoxious about everything) and then like 18 subsequent people, but Zoro was my first and my dearest. <3

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not:

I don't really have anything for this, or at least not that I can think of beyond like. Kaku from Galley-La, who seemed like a really chill dude until he wasn't lmfao. Maybe like. Usopp's gf from waaaaay way back in the beginning, though it's not even that I liked her and don't anymore and more that I just do not. Ever think about her lmfao. Usually my instincts aren't super wrong in this series, everyone I've loved I love still.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:

Again I don't really have anything for this, its less that I liked a ship and don't anymore and more that I've cycled through things I liked earlier that just don't really have my attention now bc the story has been off of them for so long. Usopp and his East Blue GF are like this, I used to be pretty hardcore Nami/Vivi, and I still really love the pairing!!! but I haven't seen Vivi in like. 400ish episodes? and so my attention has sort of cycled off into more recent/immediate things.

my ultimate favorite character™:

At the end of the day it's Luffy, isn't it? No matter how dearly I love anyone else, my heart always comes back to the best boy, oh captain my captain, I'd literally sail into hell for him. I think there's just something so beautifully, tenderly, viciously human about him, no matter where the story takes him, and I can't give the top spot to anyone else. There are lots of facets and contexts to which love and interest can be attributed and in other contexts the list might look different, but in terms of overall, objective favorites? It's Luffy forever. <3

prettiest character:

Genuinely not sure how to choose between Ace and Sanji and Law for this one. There are TON of like really really gorgeous people in this series by like varying metrics of attractiveness, but these three are like. The prettiest people I've ever seen, like. Got me on the actual floor every day, they're just breathtaking.

my most hated character:

I've got a couple of different answers for this bc it feels like I need to. Blackbeard, for literally everything he's done. Garp, for not being able to summon enough fucking humanity to tell a 10 year old that it's okay for him to exist, and that he isn't guilty of the sins of his father. Doflamingo, although this one is complicated by how interesting and necessary to the story I feel he is (juxtaposed with Blackbeard, who is v necessary to the story but is a spineless little cowardly worm that I'd like to squish with my shoe. 0/10 not interesting also killing him with beams).

Squard. Whitebeard may have forgiven you but I fucking don't.

Vander Decken. Pedophile. Arlong. Piece of shit asshole. Caesar Clown. There's a bunch of people in this series I'd like to hit with a rock forever lmfao.

How on earth could I possibly lmfaooooo I. Here I'm gonna cheat, there's one called the Episode of East Blue that's like a little movie of the beginning of the series. That is what I will choose. There are bits and pieces of other episodes that I like to go back and rewatch, but bc the story is told the way it is, everything gets spread out and so mostly individual episodes just have pieces parts of what I love. I could do favorite arc though, like. Water7/Enies Lobby I wish there was some way to scrub it outta my brain so I could watch it for the first time again, it's so fucking incredible I'll scream.

Hysterically, as much as I love it and am very pro Skypiea, I think in the scheme of everything I've watched up until now it's the lowest on the list? I wanna be clear, I fucking LOVED Skypiea, but like. If you pit it against like, Alabasta, or Water7, or Marineford, or 3D2Y, or Punk Hazard My Beloved, it just doesn't quite stand as tall.

Again, I wanna be very, firmly, completely, directly clear: I do not HATE him. I Don't Hate Him. but. Usopp. For the most part it's because I find him incredibly frustrating, even now in the post-time skip era where he's undergone all his New World Training and Preparation I just. Maybe it's envy, to a degree, that he's on this incredible adventure with all these people that love him and he grits his teeth and drags his feet and is cowardly about like. Every aspect of a story I'd kill to be a part of lmao. I don't know. I've warmed up to him considerably over the course of the story, and I'm very glad he's there and he plays an important role in the friend group but like. He also makes me insane sometimes.

Hello, I hope this doesn’t come out as hate or anything, but sometimes you sound a little judgy when you keep saying that your MC has self-respect because she didn’t forget Ethan for leaving to the Amazon without telling her. And that’s super okay because it’s your HC(and your personal opinion), but there’s people who HC their MCs forgiving him even if he didn’t tell them and they’re also self-respected people who have a happy relationship and walk through life with their head held high. I don’t think they have to be mutually exclusive, and I think there might be people who wouldn’t forgive the things you put your pairings through (HC or not) and that’s also okay, it doesn’t take away anything from you or your MC. And I’m sure it’s not your intent to sound like that, because you seem like a nice person :) but you keep dropping that little fact randomly or praising others who HC the same for their MC, as if it’s the only right thing to do.

I'll start this off by saying both my feelings about Casey's reaction and my thoughts on if I'm being judgemental are, well, subjective. They're my opinions, and I'm entitled to mine as much as everyone else is to theirs. If someone is offended by my expressing my thoughts, to me, it says the reader is of the belief that their POV is the only one that can be right. Otherwise, how could a contrary opinion be offensive?

I never think anyone has to have the same POV as me, especially in the world of fanfiction where, really, none of this matters. It's not influencing policy, law, or human rights - it's fanfic.

Canon is murky on how Ethan left/if MC knew. All we know is he didn't contact them while he was there, so it's up to us to decide how we think it happened. Many have expressed moral outrage their displeasure over my thoughts on Casey not forgiving Ethan, and, honestly, not to be mean, but I don't care. I'm not forcing them to feel the same way; I don't judge them for feeling differently. But it's my HC, my POV, and I'll stand by it. In the same way, I hope they'd stand by theirs.

In my T/C world, if Ethan had shown he had real feelings for MC (he did), crawled out of their bed just weeks before (he did), told them they'd "work it out" (he did), and then hopped on a flight and without so much as a heads up, letting her find out like she was just any other resident, like she was nobody. Then, yes, my MC absolutely would have the self-respect to say, "OK, this is not the kind of man I want to be with. I deserve to be treated better than this." It's ascerbated by the fact that he would have months away to think about it and reconsider his choices. Did he even call and say, "Look, we can't be together, but I handled this poorly, and I owe you an apology." He didn't. So, at best, he's not emotionally mature enough for her. At worst, he's callous, and she deserves better. I won't back down from that. This is how I'd react. This is the advice I'd give my best friend/child if they were in the situation. (Oh, keep in mind this is in HC, in AUs - anything goes. lol)

Everyone has their own lines in the sand... for their characters and in real life. Some people find jealousy appealing. To me, anything more than fleeting jealousy is an unhealthy emotion that is destructive and indicative of a problem that needs correcting. To some, cheating is forgivable. To some, it's not. To me, it's not forgivable in almost all cases, but there are exceptions, and it's a very, very personal choice. Will everyone agree with me? Nope. Do I care that they think differently than me? Nope. They're entitled to. Their differing POV is not a threat to mine, and mine shouldn't be to them.

I read and enjoy other OTPs that are very different from mine. I'm not threatened by them. You'll never see me telling someone their idea is stupid or wrong. I'll never criticize them or tell them my way is superior to theirs (it's just different). I'm not going to tell them they're crazy or should seek help because they view a fictional character differently than I do. That's just crazy talk.

Yeah, I love that in my T/C world, Casey told Ethan to take a walk after he treated her horribly. If I see someone with the same POV, I may say, "Good for you!". But I'm not sitting here telling others, "OMG, You're such an idiot because you had your MC forgive him. OMG, she's weak and pathetic. OMG, you must need help if you feel that way." You'll never hear that out of me.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

jovier probably? and sean/lenny too, i guess, but i don't see that ship as often. probably just a case of me preferring either canon or kinda, implied, maybe if you read the subtext ships. i've got nothing against either ship, i usually enjoy any fan art that comes across my dash, but i just don't personally ship either.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

i'm not gonna say the blatant racism and sexism as that is unfortunately a staple of most fandoms surrounding media that is enjoyed by a lot of white people where there are characters of colour. so like, it's not really anything particularly unique to rdr2, if only because it's more overt in the fandom, but i don't really expect much else from a fandom surrounding a r* game.

i am instead going to say the obsession with painting everything in black and white.

i've touched on this in a previous ask, but it just baffles me that the fandom surrounding a game with such a grey world and such nuanced characters, a game that goes to such great lengths to portray the struggles of each character, the good and the ugly in each of them, a game whose entire thesis seems to be that being good is not a matter of simply being a good person naturally, but rather trying to do good (let your actions speak for you essentially), is so determined to paint everything in black and white. divide the characters into bad and good, right and wrong, rather than enjoy the nuanced story telling and the twisted, confusing, well rounded characters in the game.

by trying to paint everything in black and white, the characters are destroyed, any interesting part of them stripped completely from them. and i just really really really dislike that.

22. Popular character you hate?

there aren't really any popular characters in the fandom that i hate. there are definitely characters that are very popular who i don't care about, like, i think they're incredibly boring, barely two-dimensional characters, but i don't hate them.

i do, however, really hate a lot of popular fandom portrayals of characters. and javier especially stands out to me.

like, as i mentioned in the previous answer, in the black and white world that is the fandom version of rdr2, javier is labeled "one of the good ones". and so, any parts of his personality, his relationships, or his actions, that aren't "good" are just... ignored. or people straight up act as if his character is actually the complete opposite of that.

like, people seem to forget that javier is very much a villain in every sense of the word in rdr. rdr2 made him redeemable and sympathetic, and since people in this fandom really can't seem to understand this thing called CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or, alternatively, PEOPLE CHANGING FOR THE WORSE, they seem to think that javier's character was butchered because he sides with dutch at the end. like, some of the "meta" about him i've read on here can basically be boiled down to dutch is a bad guy and therefore javier, who is a good guy, would never ever side with him, because good guys don't side with bad guys. i am very smart.

people say that javier hates bill, and dutch, and micah, but, like, i'm sorry, i wish that was the case but it isn't.

dutch is the most obvious one. javier's fatal flaw in rdr2, much like arthur, is loyalty. he is loyal to a tee. and he is loyal to dutch. he trusts dutch with his life. he is willing to die for dutch. to try and dispute that or straight up ignore it, is to remove a huge chunk of his character and what specifically made him really sympathetic in the eyes of someone who didn't think r* would be able to make them like him after having played rdr and despising him in that (hint: it's me, i'm someone).

and guess what, while javier does show visible disdain for both micah and bill earlier in the game, there are multiple camp interactions between them that show he does like both of them somewhat, even if it's only small parts of their characters he likes or can agree with or simply just tolerates. maybe, instead of just ignoring that part of his character, it would be nice to consider why he may feel that way about them, or even why he may feel forced to feel that way about them.

in rdr2, we are told rather explicitly that javier fought in a revolution against the mexican government, and in rdr he's fighting against a revolution on the side of the mexican government. he is shown to be able to put aside his ideals in order to protect himself.

but i guess it's easier to just say that he's mexican and therefore does not want to be anywhere near dutch, bill, and micah, instead of, i don't know, maybe consider that people of colour, especially in the 19th and 20th century but still to this day, have to make friends with racists in order to survive, have to keep any comments, any distaste kept behind our teeth if we don't want to get shunned or called hysterical or called racist towards white people or even killed.

people call him feminist and shit, but like... the way he talks about abigail in rdr and him working for a man who literally has women dragged away to be raped in cut-scenes doesn't really roll with that, does it? but yeah, sure, whatever. feminist king. whoo.

also, a particular part of the fandom seems to have labeled javier as very flirty and a ladies man (racist stereotype, good job), even though javier is explicitly stated to have had his heart broken and flirts with literally no one except that one sex worker in that one cut scene. charles is i that scene too – when is the fandom going to talk about how much of a flirt he is? oh wait, people only care about charles when they're shipping him with arthur.

favorite thing about them

Osomatsu completely rejects the eldest daughter syndrome he's been assigned! You can tell he both aligns with being the oldest but literally only when it serves him. It's really realistic that when it doesn't benefit Osomatsu he is quick to point out (and the only one who really comes to mind) that theyre ALL the same age! He's the oldest arbitrarily and doesn't want the responsibility.

but another thing I enjoy about him is despite this, he's pretty quick to assume a leadership position. I think even if Osomatsu wasn't the oldest he'd still be the leader. I alssooo enjoy the trauma exploration, I also think it's neat that Osomatsu has lead a children's crusade, and is often the direct cause of the tension between the six of them. He's the blind leading the lame, he's the child rallying the others to follow him, he's the eldest and therefore the most responsible for the safety of people only moments younger. He shouldn't have been put in this position, he was NEVER allowed any time for himself!

I forget what the word is but there's a term when it comes to marginalization where certain groups/people who are oppressed will have more representation while also still being suffering under that lens. I think Osomatsu has that! He doesnt benefit from being the main character, or the leader, or anything and he isn't allowed to be treated like the child he was or the young adult he is.

and what I like the most about Osomatsu is that he just says "that's on YOU if you expected me to be more mature then the rest of you. It's YOUR fault for buying into the idea that I should be an example, we are all the same age. Follow me or don't, it's your choice."

hes neat. i didnt mean to write this essay but ough. also his DPD....having multiple subtypes of it...it's pretty well written and delicious to me tbh! I also have DPD but a much different type, and well I think Osomatsu is good and compassionate rep for someone who has been GROOMED LITERALLY SINCE BIRTH to foster this dynamic. He's never once since those cells split six times had a moment or space truly for himself. He shared the womb, the room, their parents, their friends, their experiences, his life, his family, his clothes, his thoughts, all of it without a single real second to be his own true person.

He is The Osomatsu - medical anomaly, eldest and de facto leader, he is the golden child, the one that the light is casted off of to create the five shadows. He has been assigned the original and deals with the tension he created by buying into it as a child that these things made him special and not traumatized.

Of course when he splits his breath six ways he'll feel terrified that one day he'll have to breathe for himself. That those lungs will one day be his alone.

Osomatsu should become a marriage/relationship counselor. Seems weird but Oso has a pretty keen eye at analysing and reading people, can offer sound advice and I think the intimate details would keep his nasty ass interested and invested in the problems. He'd be pretty good at it imo.

Osomatsu was totally justified in smacking Jyushimatsu tbh from the scene I posted above. I'm the 2nd eldest on my mamas side, and the eldest on my Daddy's. There's been multiple times I've attacked my siblings for hitting me first and these are people aside from one that I'm older than. Not that it's a healthy expression of anger, nor did Jyushi intend to hurt Osomatsu physically - he did. Multiple times, causing him to drop his food several times. Osomatsu warned him more than once too to watch out and imo was very patient. Osomatsu was clearly not having a good time and these brothers have physically fought over less. like literally they all fought over eating some pastries, Osomatsu did nothing wrong after verbally warning him multiple times.

When you have a ton of siblings you learn pretty quickly "keep your hands/legs to yourself" and "if you're old enough to hit, you're old enough to be hit back" I kinda think that's intergral to keep the peace within families.

I think it was the serious tone and the violence directly afterwards but imo it never crossed my mind that Osomatsu was in the wrong about this. Jyushi should've watched tf out after the first time, second time at the most. Osomatsu said it hurt. >:/

honestly i want to keep this on my draft a little longer (*cough* maybe i can save it for taiora week *cough*), but @dutchforstrangers gave me some encouragement to let this out a bit faster... so here it is.

remember when i said on my koukari mixtape that my playlists are gonna be messy in terms of the storyline? well, this is the messiest. i think i kind of overthink this playlist because i want it to be perfect. it's my ultimate otp after all. i really hope this turns good.

two of the songs are already included in @patamonn's mixtape post, which you should all check it because bree's works are awesome. aside lynn, i want to dedicate this playlist to my sora sister @sorasfishing! i hope you keep thriving in anything you do and don't forget to get some rest :D (although this playlist is more up to beat and not really suitable for leisure time lmao) (well, taiora's the kind of couple who's full of spirit anyway)

01. wonder - shawn mendes

i was struggling to find a way to start this playlist. most songs i had gathered somehow would sound better if i put them in the middle. this song suddenly appeared on my suggestions and i remembered the first time this was released, i... didn't really like it lmao.

but now i love it so much. the music is majestic and very... taichi-like, if i can put it that way. the last beat of the drums sounds adventurous and seems like a good prologue for a journey ahead.

and yeah, what better way to start other than our main guy wondering what it's like to be loved by the beautiful lady who owns the sky?

02. used to you - mxmtoons

i was thinking of two mxmtoons songs for the playlist: either this song, or falling for u. although falling for u sounds more fitted to the theme of "realising you have feelings for your best friend but too afraid to tell him" (you should totally listen and check the lyrics here), i settled on used to you because of two reasons. first, the music of falling for u is too cozy for this rather rock playlist.

second, for me, used to you has a more... personal touch? i mean i can put falling for u for a takari playlist and it'll still be a good fit, but used to you is more of a taiora song. in the official commentary, the song is told to be about the turbulence of a new relationship. but in my point of view, this could be about how sora became too used to taichi's presence.

the first verse is somewhat a description of sora's insecurity. as she grew up, she wanted to become a better part of society (that was why she turned to tennis, dressing more femininely...). this kind of thought is a bit overwhelming, and knowing sora, of course she would overthink them. since 02 did taiora very dirty we never knew how taichi really felt about these changes and i am pretty sure that sora actually wanted to know his opinion because he knew her the best.

move on to the chorus: "i've been spending all my time, sitting by the phone just waiting for a call. i used to wanna be alone 'til your name was in my phone, now i'm getting kinda used to you." look, i still believe that sora's an introvert. but if taichi called her, she'd be there in a heart beat. (also, think about that scene in tri where she got so stressed with taichi informing his soccer game a little too late. bet she'd been waiting for him to invite her from the very beginning.)

03. you're the best thing about me - u2

this is just a general love song, but the line "i'm the kind of trouble that you enjoy" is very cheeky i can imagine taichi saying it to sora with so much confidence.

04. beautiful to me - olly murs

if you're listening to this playlist on spotify, i will kindly suggest you to switch momentarily to youtube because for this specific song, you have to watch the music video so you can get a more taiora vibe.

the video is about two childhood friends that always there for each other but never really talks about the feeling until one of them is almost getting married. get it? (although yeah, the girl is more of a badass than sora and the boy is too aloof as taichi's counterpart.)

the song itself is just the singer trying to convince the girl that she is beautiful no matter what. i always feel like sora has a lack of confidence about herself, so this is taichi pulling her into a realisation.

05. thunder - boys like girls

this is a tribute to our war game (a.k.a. THE PEAK OF TAIORA CINEMATIC UNIVERSE), especially the dub version with that "you say you love thunderstorm." i think when you look at the chorus of this song, you'll get it why i put the song here.

06. she is love - parachute

i have to choose the full band version because the og version is too slow. the title seems to be... a description of sora? i mean she IS love, right? :p but yeah, i think this song is an illustration on how sora will still take taichi despite his recklessness.

spoiler alert: one of my digiweek submission will be taiora with this song :p

07. built to last - mêlée

i was in doubt whether i had to put this song on this playlist, but the line "you are the sun in my universe" convinced me. also, "all of our friends saw from the start, so why didn't we believe it too?"!? gee. everyone saw it, you two. you are meant to last indeed.

08. best friend - rex orange county

okay, this is the part where everything gets a bit... bittersweet.

picture this: sora gets a boyfriend. idc who the boyfriend is, but it's definitely not taichi. this is the perfect song because taichi will surely regret why he didn't confess to sora earlier. still, he wants to be her favourite boy no matter what. even the part when the singer says "but i still wanna break your heart and make you cry" is just taichi's way of joking.

09. give me a try - the wombats

this is actually my favourite song on the playlist and funnily, i found this song accidentally when i first built this mixtape. we can ignore a rather "miserable side" of this song and just take this song as taichi's way of convincing sora that they could be such a fantastic pair together.

also, on a separate note, there's a long distance relationship theme implied in this song. i never really explore this theme, but i always wonder how married!taiora will make their marriage work because taichi will surely travel a lot with his job as diplomat.

bonus tracks: i love you - billie eilish

it took a long time for me to finally decide to put this song. i want the closure to be very slow and solemn, because most of the songs in this playlist have been very upbeat. i realised that most songs are in taichi's pov, so i thought about searching a song from sora's pov.

i was thinking about gabrielle aplin's please don't say you love me. however, the tempo was still too fast somehow, and i got the impression that the girl in the song wouldn't let the relationship between her and this particular man to be more than just friends. and there's no way i let this playlist to end like that. enough with taiora not being canon.

this billie eilish song should be listen as a company to two other songs, and if you listen to all of them together, it's actually a pretty depressing storyline (maybe triggering, so i suggest not to google if you don't feel comfortable). however, if you listen to i love you as a stand-alone song, i think it can still be a good fit.

quoting from one source, this is a song about "something that happened near the beginning of a romantic relationship, but a little bit after a friendship." i think this song can be interpreted as sora's reaction when taichi finally CAME TO HIS SENSE confessed to her. her first thought would be he was joking ("maybe won't you take it back? say you were tryna make me laugh"). sora's the type who concealed her emotion, so to hear the words as blatant as "i love you" would make her very vulnerable.

yet the song ends with a realisation that she also loved him. and that is why i put an ellipsis on the lyrics above: i want to leave my playlist for an open ending!

(but if it were up to me, i'll surely put a happy ending for them ;>)

What are your overall thoughts on the KH shipping community, and on a related note, do you think the series should have other romantic relationships such as Rokushi, Rikunami, or Terraqua, just to name a few notable ones in the fandom, or do you believe it be best to keep things more platonic than romantic so as to not add fuel to the shipping fire?

Uhh, what do you mean exactly about my thoughts on the KH shipping community? Like how chill or not chill they can be? Because if so, I think the fandom can be pretty bad at times, unfortunately. That might even be putting it mildly. One only has to look at how bad things got with the S*oKai vs. S*oRiku ship wars after KHIII--and even back after KHII--to see this. I think KH has even been labeled as one of those fandoms where "Ship Wars Almost Destroyed a Fandom", and I can definitely see why and kind of agree with that, sadly. But having spent some time in the B*uffy and F*FVII fandom, it's not as bad as they are. But only just barely not as bad, imo.

Though the fandom does seem to cool down between game releases, and major things happening to add fuel to the fire of either side of the ship war, which is nice.

All that being said, I'm definitely a KH shipper--and have my ships, of course--and want S*oKai to be canon, and think that it is.

And as for the other ships that you mentioned, I do ship R*okuShi and N*amiku. I also somewhat ship T*erqua (though I'm also okay with those two just being friends, and often times think the Wayfinder Trio might actually be written to just be purely platonic). And while I do ship R*okuShi and N*amiku, I also ship R*okuNami some, and these days I don't know which of those three ships are supposed to be more canon than the others, if any of them, truthfully.

I think I'd be okay with any of them happening at this point, but I don't know if I really need any of them to, either. And I almost feel like the less pairings, the better--though they could be open to interpretation, of course--since KH isn't about romance (though romance, like with S*oKai is certainly a factor in the series).

Like, as long as S*oKai happens, I'm good. And the rest I can kind of take or leave, because even though I do have some ships that I truly love with all my heart in this franchise (that are really OTP level for me), I don't need those ones to be canon in order to still ship them.

I also find that while I used to ship a million KH ships... I really don't anymore? It's mostly the ones that I think maybe have a chance of being canon, and then a few other ones even outside of that that I enjoy.

Anyway, I hope that this answered your question at all. If you want me to clarify anything, I can. And if you want me to tell you any of my other KH ships, I can do that as well!
