*grabs you by the shoulders* ok so after wilbur died and fundy was alone and grieving he kept getting picked on for being an orphan by the rest of the server, for example puffy built an obsidian box around his house in new lmanburg and labelled it an orphanage. fundy was already dealing with the loss of his dad + the appearance of a ghost that was supposed to be his dad but didn't remember half of his life, and now he had to deal with this too. so he starts to mine it meanwhile jack manifold is trying to cheer him up, not helped by the fact that ghostbur keeps hanging around despite fundy not wanting him there. Jack tries to get fundy to look on the bright side, he says that the obsidian box around his house could function as protection from tnt, and so, to prove that's bullshit, fundy places a tnt beside the house he spent so long building and blows up a portion of it. Destroys his own work, a part of his home just to prove a point. It's a self destructive act of defiance. Ghostbur and jack both agree that was unnecessary and jack maintains it could protect the house from outside attacks. fundy continues to take the wall down. Ghostbur fixes the hole in fundy's house, but leaves evidence of the explosion. He puts a sight down saying "-CAUTION- Fallen debris". Now, I need you to know how insane I am over the fact that after doomsday, after the entirety of new Lmanburg was decimated, that sign was the only part of fundy's home that remained unbroken. A sign, surrounded by the rubble of a fallen nation, destruction as far as the eye can see, warning of fallen debris. A sign for a self destructive act of defiance. I am going to eat drywall about this

SHIPPER TAG GAME

Tagged by @negrowhat to give away all my fandom secrets. I came up in the US, so most of these will be Western shows. Also be aware that I'm old and been around in fandoms for decades, some of you youths might not even recognize these ships.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?

Felicity and Noel. I was very into them (and very anti-Ben) when I was first watching this show at the tender age of 14, but then I rewatched it as an adult, realized Noel was a classic Nice Guy with some clear warning flags, and settled into Team Ben.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Hmm maybe Elizabeth Wakefield and Todd Wilkins? I think I started reading Sweet Valley High at, like, age 8. For TV, I was a sitcom kid and I was obsessed with Dwayne Wayne and his flip-up glasses as a child. I loved him and Whitley. Damn now I want to rewatch.

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

The first I read? I am pretty sure the honor goes to Buffy and Spike.

They were the first ship I remember having that classic fanfic brainrot combo of 1) captivating me entirely with their dynamic and 2) canon leaving me unsatisfied. I lost months of my life over at Elysian Fields.

In terms of the first fanfic I wrote, the honor goes to Ian and Mickey.

I was big into Shameless for its first four seasons. But then the show went way off the rails, the fandom went with it, and I quit watching and scrubbed all my fandom activity off the internet.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?

I honestly have no idea. Probably something Buffy, I was doing a lot of internet dwelling for that show.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?

Getting into discourse is my whole entire thing LOL. I have survived many, many ship wars and let me tell ya you haven't seen unhinged until you've been knee deep in the tags in a long-term fandom with multiple ships for the protagonist. One of the things I love about BL and nearly all Asian dramas is that we go into every show knowing who the main pairing is, so we don't have to fight about ships.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?

Hmm I was a big Buffy/Angel anti and that was before Spuffy was even a twinkle in my eye. I never liked that man in a romance until he got hooked up with Cordelia in his own show (but then they ruined it ugh). I was also very anti-Harry/Hermione back in the OG HP days (let characters have meaningful platonic relationships!).

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

I've been on a Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian kick of late.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?

OTPs are eternal! Like I said above, since I mostly watch Asian drama now, they're baked in. My fav of my current watches is Ten and Prem.

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

YES I AM STILL MAD ABOUT ROBIN AND BARNEY.

You show me two characters who are clearly uniquely compatible, you give me a brief taste of their extremely fun and non-traditional relationship, and then you break them up and stick her with the milquetoast Nice Guy protagonist in a total betrayal of your entire narrative premise? Fuck off forever, HIMYM, I will see you in hell.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

Hmm nothing comes to mind. If I decided to hate a pair in the past I am pretty likely to still be hating.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

I would like to see you try to cancel me!! I'll echo Eboni here and say Brian and Justin, though of course there were people who hated them because of the age gap back in ye olden times, too. Fandom spaces are mostly women and women in queer fandom spaces often struggle to account for the totally different culture and power dynamics between m/m pairings.

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

I don't really do crack ships, I am a canon pairing girlie.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

I don't know who the ultimate winner is, but I think it's probably a neck and neck competition between Spuffy and Wangxian as my most read pairing.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common?

There's actually a lot of variety in them in terms of personalities, appearance, and tropes. I think what makes me really click into a ship is the feeling that the two people are uniquely suited to each other and well matched to go through life together.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

When I don't believe they can actually make it.

Favorite thing about them Everyone talks about how she reads Yaoi, but nobody ever mentions she was raised by monks, and IS NOT the law guy. I think that's so funny and awesome for her.

Least favorite thing about them If you just look on the surface (Cough do any route besides neutral and DON'T play apocalypse) Shes kinda generic and besides a couple memorable moments, she doesn't do much for the narrative. I'm so happy Apocalypse gave her more of a role. Lets not talk about how she got there though.

Random Headcanon Isabeau is the funniest person out of the Samurai Squad, (Her, Flynn, Walter and Jonathan) and she doesn't even know it. She'll regularly drop sick burns without even meaning to. Unpopular opinion I'm not sure if the fandom is big enough for that, but I think I stated it in the OTP/nOTP section :p

There's quite a few so buckle up:

it was all a dream, i just called to say, and in law out(ing) by @canariie: her writing is beautiful, her plots are offer many sweet and homely moments, and they all feature my OTP. The first was a request form me and I love the direction to she took it, giving Toshiro and Momo a soft moment where they're both scared but then turning it into a moment Toshiro can express how he truly feels. The second is beautiful from start to finish, giving us an interaction between two like-minded individuals who have been through a lot and would probably benefit from meeting each other in canon; also the last third is just so good for a Hitsuhina fan! The last is just great fun, and I love seeing Shinji and Toshiro interact like this (it also gave us #letshinjifish2k23, what's not to love?!) If for some reason you haven't read these fics (or any of her fics for that matter) and you're a hitsuhina fan, read them after this post!

Bleach Returns day 3: A Time to Celebrate by @recurring-polynya: yeah that's right, I go back and read this fic of yours! It's one of the most humorous fics I've read, and it never fails to make me smile. I love all the characters' banter with each other, it feels organic and it's awesome to see some character interact with each other (seriously, I never thought I'd want to see Chad interact with Rangiku and Toshiro, but here we are). I've been meaning to read your submission for this year's BLEACH Anime Celebration too, but I'm sure I'll love it!

a cacophny in stillness by @visionen-im-spiegel: I mentioned it in my last ask response, but there's just something about this fic. I love to come back and reread it as a whole, but there's just certain sections I read it for. I love in the last chapter where Momo finds Toshiro, and there's that shock of seeing him at first, but more than that, there's relief that the war is all finally over, and they have each other in that moment of realisation.

the warmest place in the world by @pinkhairedlily: this is such a fluffy read! I love snippet of the hitsuhina married life here, it feels authentic and organic. I always laugh at the drunk Toshiro scene, the poor guy forgets he finally married Momo! XD

D O N K I and Away, Away by @bleachbleachbleach: I've said many thinks about their writing, and I cannot praise them enough. These two fics in particular hit me though. Again, a little biased here, but the first was written as a request from me, but like with canariie, it got taken in a direction I didn't see coming but absolutely loved. Toshiro and Orihime interactions are always a 10/10 for me, they're a soft friendship that needs to explored more. And this fic even got me to care about the weird unspoken side characters in Orihime's neighbourhood! Away, Away holds a special place for me, as it was the first fic I read from bleachbleachbleach, I come back to it because I still marvel at the world building, the atmosphere throughout, and the character interactions being so on point.

18. What's one of your favorite lines you've written in a fic?

There's more than one line here, but I feels it needs context for me to explain why it's one of my faves. This one is from On the Shoreline:

“I-I didn’t understand why you were becoming so distant, I thought getting away from the Soul Society would help, but now I think I know. Are you…?” She’s conflicted, her lips opening to continuing her question, only to close seconds later and becoming a taut, pressed line. He’d wanted to tell her what was on his mind, but not like this. To his own ear, he’s ended up both paranoid and like a child complaining about something not going his way. He's upset her. Toshiro sighs, suddenly more tired than before. “What is it?” She still hesitates, her focus on the waves circling his ankles. Eventually, she raises her head and steps closer. “Are you scared?” It hits him in the chest like a stone thrown into glass. For a second, his blood runs tight and cold in his limbs. His heart skips a beat, then clenches. He can feel hairline fractures running through him, threatening to break apart.

I still can't forget how long I sat there trying to come up with a line to emphasis the impact this question has on Toshiro. This was the moment in the story where he finally breaks down more or less, and finally tells Momo what's been going on for him. He's been keeping his walls up, but they aren't strong ones; he's at a point where they're being worn down and he's barely making it through this trip, and Momo's concern, her insight into who he is and how he's feeling, finally breaks them down completely.

It might be a corny or cliched line, but love how it turned out in the grant scheme of the story. Her question hit him hard, and finally got him to open up to her when he's been the exact opposite for most of the fic.

I get into shows and films, but rarely so much that I get invested in couples (canon or otherwise). Even rarer, so much that I start taking ship war sides. Notable exception: Harmony (Harry/Hermione) because that ship came with the stupidest shit I've ever seen in any fandom.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?

What do you mean, don't care anymore. I absolutely do care about every ship I've ever shipped.

No wait - as a very young teenager I was so into Alice Hoffman's books it's not even funny. Especially Property Of. I wasn't terribly into the nameless main character, but I adored The Dolphin and thought McKay would be much better off with him. Then I grew up and realised that Property Of is pretty badly written and has a frightfully naïve plot (no wonder, she was practically a baby when she wrote it), although it really hit the spot for a 13 year old with a rabid case of bad boy syndrome, and completely stopped caring about any of the characters.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

The first I went insane about was Harry/Draco, so probably that.

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

Harry/Draco. I wasn't going to write fic at all! Wasn't interested in writing them myself! But I got so fed up with all the horrible purple prose in a lot of fics, wrote a pisstake, and it escalated.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?

No. That was so many years ago. SO MANY.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?

No. When I get into discourse it's about other things than ships. When I try to start discourse it's definitely about other things.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?

Some pairings squick me, but I tend to forget the horrors as quickly as I discover them.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

Jaeyoung/Sangwoo (Semantic Error).

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?

VEGAS/PETE. I also adore a number of other BL couples, but that's the OTP. Show versions, not book originals.

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Spooks WASTED A BRIILLIANT OPPORTUNITY for a ship that could have been either canon or not-canon by KILLING A GUY ten minutes after he meets THE POTENTIAL LOVE OF HIS CANON OR NOT-CANON LIFE. They barely had time to share some chips. YES I AM EXTREMELY MAD, 16 YEARS LATER.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

To me, any ship that's well written and where both characters are well formed and not limp 2D shit can be kind of interesting. I can't remember any of my squick pairings starting to intrigue me. Does it count that I used to dislike any KinnPorsche pairing featuring Ken, but I'm starting to quite like them?

Oh, I'm sure I do. I like age gaps. People are often very weird about them.

Giant Squid/anyone. Such a great setup for crack tentacle porn.

I've read a fuckton of Harry/Draco, but because of betaing and rec blog running it might be Even/Isak? Give it enough time and it will be Vegas/Pete.

At least one, preferably both, of the parties is a criminal. Okay, that also has to do with what sorts of films and shows get made and appeal to me, but I love a good criminal so much and I just can't get interested in some goody two-shoes. I can honestly only think of Even/Isak when I try to list my ships that don't feature a delicious criminal. Preferably unhinged murderers, but I'll take minor misdemeanours too.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

Big fat traditional seme/uke or het dynamics where the seme/man blatantly doesn't give a canon shit about the uke/woman. I could write a thesis on this, I suppose.

I saw your ask i was about to shower so i spent about half an hour monologue ranting about wataei to myself and i dont think i remember everything to write it again but i'll try a little bit.

I am thinking about how wataei can be seen by people who havent read their stories (or how other characters see them in canon from afar) as "guy stockholm syndromes his crush that he bullied into loving him" but reading any of their stories shows you that's really not the case at allll and it's Wataru who has the upper hand over Eichi's life. How many times has Eichi just *thought* that Wataru actually hates and will leave him and stopped thinking clearly. And how many times has Wataru enabled Eichi's jealous behavior.

And it all goes back to the fact that Wataru saved Eichi's life. Multiple times, Wataru unknowingly (and then knowingly) reaches out to Eichi and gives him another reason to live. First on the hospital tv inspiring a sickly young boy to start loving idols, then after the war, when Eichi is about to let himself die, Wataru pulls him back into the story. I know Wataru says he didn't hate Eichi for the events that unfolded in the war but I do think at the time he wasn't honest. Not with himself, i think he really wanted to treat it from an outsider perspective as a coping mechanism, and brush it off, not treating real life as more than a play (which is why him saying that Eichi taught him reality is more beautiful than anything else is so important. They make each other grow and become better but at the same time they can also enable each other's bad parts through jealousy and misplaced attention. They're everything. And another tangent, I'm sorry, but I wonder if another reason Wataru called Tsumugi the best clown and thought he could take the role was because at the time they were both perceiving life as not really happening to them? Tsumugi because he's desensitized, and Wataru because he distances himself from feelings and events by treating them as a play. Which is why he was struggling with those last words from *himself* to the eccentrics regarding their youth together. He gets fully invested in his roles playing them perfectly, but they're not him. And that's why in the beginning he thinks that he too will be able to leave, but throughout that next year he lets go of the "life is a play and i'm doing whatever roles are required of me" mentality that culminates in offering his mask to Eichi at the end of the year. This is me, and i offer this to you. But there are other moments on the way such as him telling Eichi he acted upon a selfish wish in Diner Live to be on the same stage together as Wataru Hibiki and Eichi Tenshouin. Sorry for the long detour). But as he reassures in every later story over and over again, he came to love Eichi the more they spent time together. It's just so important to me that they actively choose to be together.

I don't remember exactly what else I was thinking about in the shower but i know i was giggling at some point about Wataru's "Keito calls himself Eichi's right hand, but Eichi is left handed" observation. It is all so much better post Blackbird. Keito was the author of the war with Eichi, but Wataru was the one creating the story of the ! era by Eichi's side. I really am so, so curious what the final Fine event will be. And then, beyond, in the next era...

Favourite thing about them?

I love his sincere desire to change the world for the better, as well as his love of others and hope for a better future. Of course, it's not just hope but also a DRIVE to make the world better. He just seems like such a sweet, hardworking dude, and if he was real I would love to know him.

Least favourite thing about them?

The fact that we don't get to see more of him. TBF, he died well before the start of Naruto, so we only see him through memories (and that one weird Infinite Tsukuyomi filler story, but I digress.) I want to see how he'd interact with MORE canon characters, I want to see MORE of the original Akatsuki, and I want to know MORE about the Hidden Rain Village.

I'd love a spin-off miniseries about the Hidden Rain Village.

Favourite line?

I'm not always the best at memorizing lines, but I'll go with this one, where he sets out to go on a mission to scout out an area.

In a happier timeline where nothing bad happened and the Hidden Leaf was magically not corrupt at all, I could see him being friends with Naruto.

Nagato/Yahiko/Konan. They have a deep bond, forged through their collective efforts to endure many hardships. To me, it's as if they are destined to be together and to always develop a deep, intimate care and affection for each other. Even if they were to reincarnate, they'd find each other once more.

I am very neutral on him, so my apologies for some lame-ass answers. Also, i felt like I spent a lot of time writing my opinions on Yahiko.

Favourite thing about them?

His abilities were neat, as one of the few who could use Wood Style. i also respect how he tried his best to keep Team 7 in check and (later on) help rebuild the Hidden Leaf after Pain destroyed it.

Least favourite thing about them?

The fact that he was sidelined for most of the War Arc, serving little use outside of buffing up Zetsus. IDK, that was kind of disappointing.

Oh, I also feel weird about the fact that he's supposed to watch Orochimaru in Boruto. Like, if we treat the anime backstory as canon, dude should be traumatized by Orochimaru.

Favourite line?

That one where he threatens to use "draconic measures" on Team 7 when they keep arguing and fighting each other, I guess.

brOTP?

Kakashi once they are both adults. Sai after he is free from Dan's control, since they could relate to each other a lot (especially if you treat his anime backstory as canon.)

How would you rank all the popular mash ships?

Ooh, thank you for this beautiful shiny bat, I can't wait to swing at the hornets nest! (⁠ﾉ⁠◕⁠ヮ⁠◕⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠*⁠.⁠✧

I mean, the real question is what counts as a popular MASH ship because by most metrics it's just BJHawk, TrapHawk, Everyone Else. And some ships I like or find fun to think about are insanely niche lol. So I went on AO3, excluded all the platonic ships and BJ/Peg until I got the 10 "most popular" MASH ships, and I'll rank those :3

TrapHawk THE ETERNAL OTP. Like, truly my One True Pairing, I've loved these little guys for over half my life, they have great chemistry, they're great friends, they're flirty and sweet and you can go angsty or fluffy with them with ease. Many potential story angles, great fun. I ship a lot, and find many MASH dynamics fun to explore, but they are definitely my number one.

Hawkahy Admittedly this is 90% Quordle's fault lol, but they are interesting to me. Little bit of a quieter ship made up of many small moments, but even in the movie they are drawn to each other and have some cute moments. I'm kind of obsessed with the angle that, after Radar leaves, they are the two old timers at the 4077th, that Mulcahy is the only one who's been there longer, that Hawkeye is the first responder and Francis is the last... Many fun parallels, pleasingly contrasting personalities, great humor between them, and some good chemistry. The biggest obstacle is their differing ideologies, but I think that could be explored in an interesting way.

SidHawk Some really great moments between these two, good chemistry and humor, I think they'd be well matched and very sexy/fun to read or write about, with some fun messy angst potential as well.

BJHawk Oh many complicated feelings on these two. I ship them in a very angsty, dramatic, messy kind of way. Would love to see a slowburn that really got into all the obstacles to this ship. I think their relationship would necessarily change quite a bit outside of the war in a way that would be messy but fun to explore. Overall my take on this is very different from the most common takes on them, which often ignore other people in their lives, characterize BJ in a way that's much calmer more mature than how I see him, or use tropes I'm not fond of, but eh. I think there's many interesting angles to work with them, I have many ideas I'd like to explore with this ship, but they're not my end game or OTP.

FrankMargaret Not sure I ship them, per se, but I think they are the most sexually compatible couple we see in the show, their neuroses are so perfectly aligned. Great chemistry on multiple levels, they unfortunately bring out the worst in each other, but they're such a good duo and a lot of fun, and I KNOW the sex was amazing and I love that for them lol. The ultimate crazy4crazy hand in unlovable hand ship to me.

HouliHawk Most of the boomers/Gen Xers I've talked to ship this lol. I like them a lot, their relationship has an interesting arc, and I think they're well matched in many ways. Don't really ship them, I prefer them both with other partners, but I fully get this one and think there's some good chemistry between them.

CharHawk Good comedy between these two with some sweet moments in canon to build on, I have a few ideas that I'm nibbling on, but I think if they had met outside the war they would never ever think about getting together, they are just so different, I have a hard time seeing sexual or romantic chemistry between them. Many obstacles for this ship to overcome.

CharKlinger GOD FUCKING BLESS that one guy who has written over 400 fics for this pairing, cut me off a slice of that creative energy!! A genuine and sincere tip of my cap to stateofintegrity. The fact they've singlehandedly gotten their rare pair to within spitting distance of the second most popular ship in the fandom is astounding, if they actually lap TrapHawk I WILL go fully insane and dedicate my life to writing drabbles until TrapHawk is ahead again, but I don't like this ship and have no interest in it.

BJHawkPeg No ❤️ I think this would be a disaster- potentially a very funny/interesting disaster to read or write, but no ❤️

I don't see why you'd come to me for this, since you're clearly more versed in Holt language than me, but of course it's more than alright! Admittedly, I've been re-blogging this sort of thing and waiting for someone to ask me, and at last here it is! So yeah, I'm a bit thrilled.

Anyway:

My favourite thing about them You know, I've always loved this guy, but I never stopped to think about why I really like him. I guess if I had to say, it would be his relationships with his brothers, especially Dale. I've always been a sucker for familial relationships enduring through hard times, but Tyler's relationship with each member of his family is unique. And everything is made even more tragic because these relationships do not persevere throughout the hardship they all go through. No matter what, Dale dies, his body eternally lost in the destroyed motel as it goes up in flames. No matter what, Jay is scarred as a teen, only until Zoe pays him a visit, if she chooses to forgive him. But even after that, he's still alone for the rest of his life. Sharon and Tyler are together at first, but Sharon decides it's best to leave. She's either left alone, or is stuck in a life with a man who loves her, but whom she doesn't love. Tyler is now alone in jail or in a hard life where he must now work for himself, or he's dead. His relationships are all shattered. Tyler's story doesn't end well, and even though it doesn't exactly end with a big, terrible bang, it's really not a good ending. And to make things worse, he's alone. So that's a really interesting part of his character

Least favourite thing about them Tyler doesn't panic all too often, but when he does, he loses his temper easily. He gets mad and exaggerates what he really means, and gets really mean. It's annoying sometimes and sometimes tiring, but everyone has flaws and everyone has to endure their own and others' flaws.

Favourite line "This will all be over when we win. Remember that, and do your part." This can be used in so many situations, namely war. Not that war has anything to do with ADF.

brOTP Vince and Tyler. They're both so similar within their own lives, and their roles within the whole Desert Dream Motel Mistake-Massacre. They may not be bros as in friends or bros at all, but they are parallels of each other.

OTP I don't think I really have an OTP, but I don't really mind the Vince/Tyler ship.

nOTP I don't know. There's not really many ships in this small fandom. But I guess I would never ship something like Joyce/Tyler. That's a recipe for disaster.

Random headcanon I headcanon that Tyler is a very neat and organised guy.

Unpopular opinion Jay is kinda mid compared to Tyler. I have nothing against Jay, he's just not as interesting.

After all, she shows up when she learns that everything has gone wrong, and she shows up later on in chapter 3. Plus, who else is Tyler gonna call? We don't know any friends who show up or anything remotely similar). And there was a text underneath which said, "Give me some time to think and I'll probably come up with something that sounds coherent." Or something like that. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?) I answered this question once YEARS ago and ended up getting a comment on that fic by a person who was like, "Hey, I don't go here and never have but I saw that you recced this and I love it". Then, about six months ago, I posted a fic in a completely different fandom about a completely different topic and got a comment from someone being like, "Hey, I don't go here, etc., this is great." And I was like, "I have no idea how you found my little fic in my little corner of the internet but I'm thrilled!" Turns out, it was the same person who originally read that first story back in 2014 and they sometimes just??? Read my stuff because of that?? (If that person is reading this, know that you are an absolute game-changer and I appreciate you very much.) So with that in mind, here's that fic I recced way back when, just in case it catches someone else's eye. It's about a medical android tasked with taking care of a sick person in a world after nuclear war and it's called Soul. If you're only here for HBO War, then I submit for your consideration this second fic that this miraculous person read and enjoyed despite not being in the fandom. It's about Luz and Malarkey falling asleep together in various places toward the end of the war and it's called Make Us Be Brave. 10. How do you decide what to write? Lately it's been pretty prompt-based but normally I'm just noodling around thinking about my faves and how they were wronged by canon. Picture me taping things together yelling "I'm gonna fix it!" in the dead of night. 11. Are you partial to a certain character/pairing or are you more equal-opportunity? If you are partial to any character/pairing, why do you think that is? I feel like I normally go into a fandom because of one ship and by the end I'm like, "here's a character study about one guy who speaks twice in the entire series!" It's starting to happen with HBO War; I have been writing buckets of rarepairs this month for the holiday prompt challenge and I like many of them enough to write them again. Re: HBO War my otp is obviously The Sunshine One x The Grumpy One TM. It's honestly one of the few ships where I really feel like I strongly identify with either George or Joe depending on the day. I have a 60k-ish modern AU luztoye fic that I'll be publishing in the new year where I dig deep into some relationship trauma for them and sometimes I re-read it like, "girl these characters interacted for like twenty seconds in the source material". a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with: i haven't been around long enough to see any headcanons really, least of all for anne, so any answer i come up with for this is going to be me literally inventing a guy to get mad at. which is exactly what i'm gonna do now 🤪 but based on when this show first came out and what i know of fandom spaces at the time, i'm going to guess that a lot of people on this here hellsite would have pointed at early s1 anne and said she is a prime example of "woman character written by a man" syndrome and that she's suffering from a serious case of internalized misogyny/homophobia. which i really don't think is the case at all and i think her initial, loud contempt for max is way more rooted in her being forced to consider her own individual identity separate from her relation to jack, perhaps for the very first time since she met him. and i think that when i first tried to watch this at the tail end of high school, i was a bit put off by anne's character because i fell into the former category. but i'm quite a bit more media literate now than i was back then. so yeah!!

the position they sleep in: alone? on her side with a hand on the knife under her pillow. with a very trusted partner? she's the little spoon. that scene when she's fast asleep between jack and max i'm telling youuuu.

Most Epic Villain: I'm going to have to go with Palpy because he may not have done much flashy lightsaber stuff but the way he rises to power and fools everyone into thinking he's just a nice old man is terrifying and I'm only really realising it when I watch them now. Especially what he does with Anakin. He's quietly petrifying and I love it.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Obi-Wan/Anakin, no hate to people that like it but yeah. I've just always seen them as brothers.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Honestly, I love most of the characterisation in the prequels, even if the dialogue's stiff at times. I really think they were sleeping on Dooku and Qui-Gon's relationship, though, I'm glad we got to see more of it in TOTJ because damn the angst

Favourite Friendship: Obi-Wan and Anakin

Character I most identify with: Anakin because as I said, catastrophe on legs
