Love how they're not even presented by name or anything(if i remember correctly), they're literally just the two dudes who got the tactician to where the plot starts, left him on the streets and come back occasionally for a drink. Pop off kings

Can’t talk, processing the homoerotic battle of the bands with their songs reaching out to each other. It was great.

holy fuck this episode of ya boy kongming was incredibly on the fucking nose to continue from the establishment of this arc like THE WAY EVERY PART OF AZALEA'S PERFORMANCE WAS HOLLOW, and Nanami's shame and frustration at the group's exploitation, the fucking focus on the oversexualized outfits they didn't want to wear but had no choice but to...
it not really hitting home for Nanami until she saw Eiko (who she totally has a crush on bc uh come on lol) in the crowd and realizing how none of this was her and repeating that over and over in her head, that she didn't want Eiko to see her like that after Eiko saw her real self, just
AAAAAA

Favorite VA performance in the BSD anime?
HHHHHHHHHHHHHH it's hard to decide on only one, I love voice actors 😭
Obviously Miyano Mamoru (Dazai) is a legend, Taniyama Kishou (Chuuya) brings out the perfect energy, but I prefer the ENG dub more for Fifteen!Chuuya bcuz he..actually..sounds like a brat-
I'm probably more impressed with the ones who are voicing uhhh less popular characters on the JP side? Kousuke Toriumi as Goncharov is fcking terrifying (in the good way) and Ono Daisuke (Ace) is just- *chef kiss* (totally not bcuz I like Black Butler-*coughs*) More personal favs are Jun Fukuyama (Ango) and Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Tanizaki)..
On the ENG dub side, PATRICK SEITZ (Kunikida) IS AMAZING???? I'm really happy that BSD has a pretty good ENG dub;;;; Vic Mignogna (Ranpo) is soooooo good, really brings out Ranpo's character, and I just found out that THEY'RE ALREADY DUBBING SEASON 4 AND LANDON MCDONALD (since S3) AS UNTOLD STORY!RANPO MAKES ME WANNA CRY HARDEEEEEEER (ಥ﹏ಥ) *sobs in corner* Honorable mentions: Kaiji Tang (Dazai) & Max Mittelman (Atsushi)
Including the new cast VAs (even tho we barely got a glimpse of them outside PV currently), Takeshi Kusao (Mushitarou) SLAYED in last two episodes (4&5) and I LOVE TAKEHITO KOYASU AS GOGOL HE SOUNDS SO HO- *bonk* I know we haven't got anything with Sigma, but looking at his JP VA's roles, he's in good hands 🥰
Tumblr media
Also thanks to this ask, I needed to look up the VA names AND THE DISCOVERIES SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE AHAHHFGDSHSDHHDSSAJGDS-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like how Murakami voiced by (Demon Slayer) Zenitsu's VA in BOTH dub-
Tumblr media
and if anyone curious who voiced Yokomizo (Mushi's writer friend) or why he might sound familiar😌
Tumblr media
AND THESE TWO VAs ARE EVERYWHEEEEEERE-

Bocchi The Rock - Season 1
I binged Bocchi The Rock. Here are some thoughts (spoilers below).
Tumblr media
Poor Bocchi.
This is an old formula. The lonely will remain lonely until someone literally yanks them out of their loneliness. But I wish an anime had a lonely who put some effort and conquered their loneliness by themselves for once.
Tumblr media
What.
Nevermind the comment why is hyper-socially-anxious Bocchi going around smelling people. Hypocrite!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bocchi, you're really making this hard for yourself.
The scene where she plays for the first time caught me off guard.
She practiced a lot so that means she's really good, right?
She said she had confidence, that's a huge red flag, she probably sucks despite all her practice.
But she said she had only SOME confidence so what if the red flag is a fake flag and she is actually really good and this is the event that makes her life change forever?
In the end she sucked... because playing in a band and playing solo is different? THE WORLD IS UNFAIR TO BOCCHI!!! THIS WAS HER CHANCE. WHYYYYYY.
The manager notices it and casually makes her more anxious while thinking she's helping it lol
Interesting that 2 turns out to be sort of true for the other girl who practiced a lot in the wrong instrument.
Tumblr media
Dark Flame Master????
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Intriguing philosophical thoughts.
Tumblr media
Rise up.
Tumblr media
GIVE ME LIKES 👍👍 AND SLAP THAT REBLOG BUTTON!!!!!
Tumblr media
Bocchi, are you daijoubu?
Tumblr media
BOCCHI, ARE YOU DAIJOUBU????
Tumblr media
This show is just too relatable. It's like everything they say is supposed to be relatable somehow. Or maybe that's just me.
Tumblr media
Like I said, this show is just too relatable.
Tumblr media
I love this creature. I haven't seen someone with such facial freedom since Shinchou Yuusha.
Tumblr media
She looks pretty epic when she plays, so it sucks that didn't work in the final episode! The world is unfair to Bocchi!!!
While waiting for S2 I recommend watching Paripi Koumei if you like music or Handa-kun if you like black humor doses of loneliness (Watamote if you like it very black).

ive looked through your 2023 watched stuff but ive been wondering if youve said anywhere what your favourite animes of all time are ? just curious cus i want more reccs
ooh good question! i am so indecisive and so full of love for so many series that it's always been a bit of a struggle to pick out just a few absolute faves, but here are the first few that come to mind
(i'll try to keep to shorter series here)
and standard disclaimer that everything here is my opinion and my opinion only
best anime of all time: shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu, and for me nothing even comes close
the story is told over the course of two seasons (the second being shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu: sukeroku futabi-hen; 25 episodes total) and it is imo just an absolute masterpiece. it's a somber tale, but executed in such a masterful way. the show is centered around rakugo and rakugo performers, and felt to me like not only an incredible story but an incredible performance of the art of storytelling
i don't rewatch this one very often because it makes me so sad, but i think it's a beautiful and worthwhile sort of sadness to experience
best sports anime of all time: kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru (23 episodes), and once again nothing even comes close. which means a lot coming from me because i love sports anime i will watch any sports anime i love good ones i love bad ones i love them unconditionally i'm like sports anime georg so 'best sports anime' is maybe even a more significant crown than 'best anime' coming from me lmao
ahem anyway in terms of objective quality there's just nothing that beats kazetsuyo, and i highly recommend it even as a character-centric piece for people who aren't generally into sports anime. it's just that good
side note 1: while i would call kazetsuyo the 'best' sports anime, my personal favorite is eternally kurobas (though it is on the longer side)
side note 2: honorary mention to megalo box, another of my all-time favorites. it's sports + sci-fi so i typically don't count it solely as a sports anime, but i love it to bits. there is a second season that i haven't even seen yet! i've always heard the second season is even better than the first, so i've been saving it for a special day (also i'm a bit scared of it because i was so happy with the ending of the first season that i'm kinda like resistant to change lol)
best anime i can't tell you anything about: so generally i'm of the belief that spoilers don't ruin much for me, if something is done well then it's done well even if i know it's coming. that said, there are a handful of series where i am so glad i went in knowing nothing, so that every twist and turn caught me completely unawares
and the top two i would recommend in this category are samurai flamenco (22 episodes) and sarazanmai (11 episodes)
definitely do look up trigger warnings if you've a need for them! but otherwise, going in knowing nothing really heightened the experience of these for me
they are... strange, and amazing
this is getting long so i'll just dump a bunch of favorites in a list below (some are Great, some are decidedly Not Great but Very Fun and beloved to me lol, and all are 25 episodes or less)
feel free to ask for details if you'd like to hear more about any of these, or if you'd like recs in any specific genres!
acca: 13-ku kansatsu-ka, appare-ranman!, baccano!, barakamon, cool doji danshi, dorohedoro, fantasy bishoujo juniku oji-san to, gankutsuou, gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun, houseki no kuni, ikebukuro west gate park, kimi to boku, kuragehime, paripi koumei, sabikui bisco, tiger & bunny (and its distant cousin double decker! doug & kirill), uchouten kazoku, wotaku ni koi wa muzukashii, yojuhan shinwa taikei, yuru camp
side note 3: just realized tiger & bunny is actually no longer under 25 episodes because we got a second season after like ten years lmao BUT i couldn't bring myself to remove it because it is phenomenal

Big compliant of mine: The lack of camaraderie/mutual support between Eiko and her crew at the BB Lounge from the manga FRUSTRATES me. Almost every member within the group debuted per chapter were functioned as poor plot devices akin to disposable batteries and they are not given plenty of time to mingle and grow naturally once after their introductory arc ended.
Notably the next issue has to do with my favorite character of the series: Kabetaijin
And BOY did they screw him up... (SPOILERS DOWN BELOW)
Instead of witnessing his growth from P.A. Works's adaptation where Kabe defends a high school student from getting bullied, practices harder through day and night, having a heart-to-heart talk with his girlfrien-I meant singing partner Eiko and encourages her to sing the latest single she made, performing a delightful duet together, Eiko offers an advice on how to improve Kabe's freestyle rhymes: through getting back to where it all started, discovering that he's a local celebrity, reunites with his old friend Sasatcho and his hometown crew while being helped to bring back the fun of freestyle rap, represent himself as one of them before getting into a rematch against Sekitoba in the next mc battle, and eventually won after his close rival concedes out of respect with a smile....
Kabe went invisible within 4 chapters in and comes back with no development whatsoever. Not want to express my ungratefulness, but WHAT GIVES !?(ノಥ,_」ಥ)ノ彡┻━┻
It gets worse when this infuriating vanishing act pops back from the box. It's as if Kabe appears only for rap battle sequences and nothing else, up until the Summer Sonia arc where he returns for an important role to sabotage their nefarious rival off the stage. And would you know it, nothing matters because character progression is non-existent there.
Reviewers criticize the rap sequences and Kabe's arc were deemed unnecessary, but I say it was vital for his role and his further bonds that will test each of their strengths and weaknesses. (And also for everyone who were fans of him, myself included.)
No matter what kind of circumstances they would make up, the manga will always be inexcusable to me.
Judging from today's chapter release I read, it may be a good time to take a step back before reopening back in a new page. (Meaning I should stay away from Yotsuba and Ogawa's take on Paripi Koumei for a while and stick to AUs.)

#ParipiKoumei #HeroineTarumono. Probably two of the best titles to come out in #Spring2022 and I'm all in for the latest episodes! ⚠️Warning: Spoilers Ahead!⚠️ I said it before and I'll say it again, I really can't believe I almost slept on Paripi Koumei when it premiered. And now we're here with a phenomenal finale. Seeing Eiko's journey unfold with Koumei's stratagems was certainly nothing short of excitement. From her first showcase leading up to landing Summer Sonia, you really can't shake off the image of Eiko having two supportive stage dads with Koumei and Owner. But the most epic highlight, more epic than the savage rap battles, was the faceoff against Azalea. Last week's episode is probably the series' show stopper because of how Koumei executed his stratagem and what a way to set up a strong finale with Eiko's new song and the rebirth of Azalea. There were tears!! It was just so beautiful. We need a second season!! Next, Heroine Tarumono. Another stand out for me because I honestly fell in love with the art of HoneyWorks. It's an idol show so I didn't expect much since I almost never follow titles like this. Hiyori was the deal breaker. Such a naive MC who's easy to love and a real underdog whether it's her goal to become an athlete or a manager-in-training to LIP×LIP. This week's ep is unlike anything I've seen in high school anime in recent memory. The physical confrontation between Hiyori and Chizuru was so unexpected. I felt my blood boil throughout the ep and that's what made me realize of how invested I was. Initially, though, it's the curiosity also towards the VAs that got me because they've got such a powerhouse cast, even for side characters. Budget: Unlimited! Anyway, really curious how they'll close things up next week but oh well. Apart from these two and Spy×Family, other non-sequel standouts for me this season are Summer Time Rendering (mystery), Love After World Domination (plot), Deaimon (wagashi), and AoAshi (art). But yeah, these two this week, such power! Gonna list down #Summer2022 watchlist soon so stay tuned! Meantime, give all the titles I mentioned a try since eps have already stocked up. 'Til the next one! https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce370jlv-zS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I really love the premise of this anime. Guy dies in Three Kingdoms era and then wakes up in Japan to help a girl fulfill her dream.
