Reyes and Aeryn

I forgot I made this, a photo-manip of my Ryder and Reyes Vidal, showing off their respective tattoos.

Reyes's call-sign Anubis is tattooed on his forearm, though his Alliance number is partly self branded away, to hide his identity. Aeryn's Ma'at tattoo hides the scar from surgery she had to have done on her spine after biotic training went wrong. She had it tattooed to act as a protective totem and cover over a stupid mistake. I may draw this properly at some point

Oooo, you play mass effect, it finally clicked in my head. Who do you romance in Andromeda?

Also, I really did enjoy the game regardless of the amount of hate it got

ZOMG, you must've missed me at my most Andromeda obsessed, lol! I haven't actually been able to play it since last November, when my previous computer gave out and then this one has been super lousy. However, as soon as I can hopefully get my Vegas back on and thus be able to GIF (and vid) again, I'm planning on going back to Andromeda to finally finish the big Ryder twins romance GIF project I had going, lol!

In short, I've romanced every single option available except Scott/Peebee and Scott/Jaal. Scott/Peebee was in progress when I got derailed. But here are some posts I've made about various things, if you'd like to see them!

Me at the bottom talking about doing an Insanity run and showing my Sara in her Mjolnir-like tanky armor plus the name of my crafted weapons 😂

I absolutely adore this game and I've honestly missed playing it so much! Also, did you know that Kate Kennedy aka Kai from Halo is the voice of one of the Angara?

I romanced Avela as Scott JUST for that fact alone, lol!

Anyway, like I said, I never did get the chance to finish making GIFs for all of my romances and I still hope to finish those last two for Scott. As for which are my favs...

Sara: Reyes. I'm a sucker for that scoundrel, what can I say? 😍😇 But Vetra is a close second. I have to physically restrain myself from flirting with her if I'm planning on romancing somebody else because there's no way I'd hurt my best Turian girl like that! 😱😉

Scott: Gil surprisingly became my favorite "I have to make SURE not to click the flirt options if I'm romancing somebody else" romance. I also, no surprise, loved his romance with Reyes. Cora also was great!

I honestly really enjoyed all of the romance options, except for Keri's (the reporter) and not for any fault of hers but I disliked how she looks kinda uncomfortable with either Ryder flirting with her while she's just trying to do her job. I felt like a real creep, I have to say! 😩Then at the end, after I've annoyed this poor Asari at her workplace this entire time, the "payoff" was we went from a table at the Vortex to Ryder's just suddenly outside of her room? Not even a kiss? 🫤(I legit have headcanoned that Keri never actually let Ryder into her room, just went in herself, closed the door, and left them out in the hall, lol! "That's for continuing to come on to me and never taking the hint while I'm clearly just doing my job, you creep!" 😖😂😉)

If I could've romanced Evfra *points up at his pic above* I totally would have because I'm a sucker for a good "enemies to lovers" trope, lol! And I think Evfra would haaaaate himself for falling for the human Pathfinder. 😍😍😍

I clearly have put a lot of silly thoughts into Andromeda, lol! Anyway, thanks so much for letting me ramble about this! Who did you romance? Have you played as both twins or do you prefer just the one? Default or custom? Do you mod? My computer was coming off the rails at the time so I've only stuck to what's available in-game but I've seen some beautiful Ryder twins and some awesome clothing options with mods. 😉💖💖💖

I still wish he had more content, but I am greatly enjoying the Reyes romance AND the fact that Reyes is doing his own stuff on Kadara and has no idea what Ryder is up to because I spent all Liam's loyalty mission thinking "If I die here because of the stupidest plan ever Reyes is gonna kill me" and it's a really fun roleplay angle.

N7Month Challenge - Day 8: Crash

This hadn't gone as planned. He should have known Sloane wouldn't come alone to the meeting, it was an obvious trap and she was an intelligent woman. Calculating and cruel sometimes, but she knew a trap when she saw one. Reyes still hadn't expected she would bring Ryder with her.

Reyes had kept to the shadows as long as possible, trying to hide that the world was crashing down on him. He had to lock it away, he had to play his role perfectly. Reyes took a deep breath and stepped into the light. He could see the shocked expression written all over Ryder's face as they realized who he was.

A few moments later it was over. Sloane was dead, he was free to take Kadara port and make it a better place. But he hesitated to leave for a moment, afraid of Ryder's reaction, so he started barking orders and hurried to the exit.

Only for Ryder to call him back.

"You used me."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Reyes had answers for every question. He'd been too afraid to lose them, and wanted to keep living in the illusion that half of him would be enough for this to work.

Ryder let him go though and Reyes tried to push the pain away and focus on the task at hand. The task he'd been working to achieve for months. Taking over Kadara port, the fight didn't care if the world was crashing down on him. He had to push through to achieve his goal.

And maybe... Maybe Ryder would forgive him some day.

Mass Effect Andromeda - #8 - Faked Death

Watching it was unbearable and dangerous.

Yet Reyes stood, hood pulled over his disguised face, shifting uncomfortably in the padded shoes meant to make him taller. An urn rested on a small, recently-built platform.

He had never intended to attend his own funeral, but his worry over Ryder saw him here regardless.

Ryder stood, his sister on one side of him and Liam on the other. He leaned heavily into his sister, and Sara put her arm around him, resting her head on his shoulder. 

Reyes crept closer carefully. The way Ryder’s shoulders shook broke his heart. He’d never seen such a strong man look so weak.

It had been necessary. That’s what Reyes had told himself, at least, as he engineered the plot.

His enemies had been dangerously close to discovering his identity as the Charlatan. Rather than risk the chaos that would cause, Reyes and Keema had arranged to fake his death.

It had been careful. They’d quietly captured and killed an enemy, dressed him in Reyes’ clothing. Reyes had accepted a meeting he knew was a trick. With Keema and a few highly trusted men in tow, Reyes went into the building he knew he was supposed to die in.

Sure enough, he was locked inside and the building was set ablaze. Keema helped him escape and plant the body of the man, who burned down to bone. Then she went back in and confirmed it was his body, planting his weapons on it as proof.

It was temporary. Just until they could find and kill everyone who threatened Reyes’ true identity. 

But he couldn’t tell Ryder. Ryder’s reaction is what sold the ruse. It was a key part of the plan, and the part that tore Reyes to pieces the most.

Liam touched Ryder’s arm. “Do you want to say anything, Ryder?”

Ryder lifted his head and slowly turned to face the gathering. Reyes was pretending to be one of three friends of Keema’s who had known Reyes. He was thoroughly disguised, but still ducked his head a little as Ryder’s anguished eyes swept over the small group of people here to mourn.

“Reyes wasn’t perfect,” Ryder said. “He could be a real shady bastard sometimes.”

“Sometimes?” Jaal said, and a small ripple of laughter broke the tension in the crowd.

Ryder gave a weak, sorrowful smile. “Alright, a lot of times he could be a real shady bastard. But he…he was so much more than he ever got credit for. He was a cheesy romantic that liked to slow dance. He was a free man who loved nothing more than to fly across an open sky. He was a leader who wanted to bring peace.”

Reyes felt himself choking up. Ryder thought so highly of him. And here was Reyes, being that lying, shady bastard everyone else knew he was. 

He did not deserve Ryder. He knew he would never be forgiven for this.

“You look like you’re waiting for someone,” Ryder said. “That’s what he said to me. The first words. And he was right. More right than I knew at the time.” He looked at the urn, with the ashes of a stranger sealed inside. Tears brimmed in Ryder’s eyes and pain flared in Reyes’ heart. “I’ll be waiting for the rest of my life for someone who will never come back.”

Reyes wanted to scream that he was right here, he was alive, it was a cruel plot. But he couldn’t, not with Kadara at stake like this. If he revealed himself, it also put Keema in danger. He was too tangled into his own scheming to ease Ryder’s pain.

Ryder was crying silently now, stepping back to his sister for comfort. She held him tightly, whispering soothingly in his ear as he clutched at her. 

“You are watching his trust in you die,” Keema said quietly. “He will never recover from this, even if he comes to understand why it was necessary.”

“Don’t you think I know that?” Reyes said, his voice numb even as every other part of him ached at this turn of events.

He’d imagined building a future with Ryder in a hostile galaxy that they tamed together. He’d opened himself up, promising honesty, always knowing he could expect it in return. Ryder would never lie to him - not about the big stuff. That was the whole basis of their relationship. 

And here was Reyes, killing Ryder in a way the Archon never could.

His pain was excruciating as he watched the most beloved and cherished person in his life cry for him. No one had ever loved him so much. No one had ever trusted him so much.

He accepted the pain he felt now. The pain Ryder would feel when he learned the truth would be worse, and Reyes just hoped it wasn’t enough to shatter him in the end.

Reyes had gone to the very outskirts of Kadara port, leaning on the railing overlooking the valley below. It was away from the hustle of the main square; a place where before everything had changed had been a good place to see how the place was actually doing as this was where those whose time was up went before they were thrown out of the port. The desperate, the terrified, the addicted; all ended up here. Now thanks to his efforts as well as the Pathfinder's support it was different. He cast his eyes out towards the badlands. The sun was slowly setting over the distant mountains. Every time he'd taken the time to look, it had taken his breath away at how beautiful Kadara was, even more so now the Vault had started balancing the composition of the environment. This place could really be somewhere good, for both Angara and new comers.

He'd asked Ryder to meet him at this spot and heard her make her way over the metal walkway to where he was, whistling loudly in appreciation at the spectacular view. "Wow! Now this is something else Reyes." "Shh, come here." Reyes held a finger to his lips and beckoned her closer. As she stepped into his reach he took her hand and gently pulled her closer to him. Directing their view outwards with his free hand, he gestured with a wave. "Listen to that...No crying, no fighting. No sounds of Oblivion addled victims. Kadara is healing and it's in no small part thanks to you." Ryder side eyed Reyes and he smirked, wrapping his arms around her. "Well a great deal thanks to you. I had all of it planned out you know, how I would take down Sloane, how I would sway the great Pathfinder to my way of thinking. Then I walked into Kralla's Song and saw you, and knew you would be trouble for me." "The best kind of trouble I hope. " "You have no idea. I thought we'd work well together, be professional. But when you kissed me at Sloane's party and then told me I was someone to you. I fell in love with you that night. I thought-" "You love me?" Ryder butt in with a twinkle in her eyes, as if she'd known he'd loved her as long as she'd worked out he was in fact The Charlatan. "There's no hiding anything from you is there?" Reyes nervously laughed along, hoping how he felt wasn't one sided.

Ryder lifted one had to run a gloved thumb over his cheek. "Not really. So it's a good job I love you too isn't it?"

I was looking in my drafts and found this Andromeda thing. I have no idea where I was going with it because I must’ve written it 5 years ago, but I don’t hate it, so here (unedited, that’s why it’s lacking in dialogue tags):

"And Sloane? She's a woman of the people."

"Hm. Which ones, though?"

He raised an eyebrow, a non-verbal invitation to continue the train of thought.

"Well, she committed to the Initiative, headed Nexus security. Then turned her back when things got hairy. But fine, maybe she had genuine objections to the way things were going. Not like loyalty's worth anything, right?" She paused to take a drink, and he merely watched her, amusement and curiosity dancing in his eyes. "So she brings a bunch of exiles here, to an angaran port, clears out some kett then basically says 'bow down.' Good on her for the kett thing, not so much for waltzing in like a conqueror once she was done. Now it's, 'You can live in my kingdom as long as you pay up.' Who's all that serving?"

"Taxes are inevitable."

"Taxes fund infrastructure. I don't see a post office around here. Besides, she even calls them protection fees. It's some early 20th mobster bullshit. Anyway, she wants to execute Terev to keep the angara under her boot heel from taking back what's theirs, and she doesn't give a shit what happens to him. She'll be a 'woman of the people' as long as it's convenient for her and keeps her in power. But she serves no one but herself. And I don't think you're stupid, so you know all this, and you're sitting there smirking at me because you're giddy that I managed to come to the same conclusion."

"We're gonna be friends, you and I."

She groaned. Why did her contact have to be this guy?

“It’s okay.” She interrupts him. “I’m okay.” She lies, not very sure which of them is that sentence trying to fool. 

2. Do your Worst - Mass Effect Andromeda - Ryder x Reyes

“That’s my line” He chuckles for a second until he notices her hands fidgeting with his belt, cutting his laugh with a low grunt. “It seems I'm not the only one having fun though.” Once she’s done with the belt proceeds to unzip his pants.

3. Don't Leave me Behind (Ch. 5: The Chance to Hold you Again) Mass Effect - Shepard x Kaidan

“You are the one in the bed, don’t you wanna know where you are?” The woman smiles softly, surprised by her question. “I’ve already called the doctor, they’ll be able to explain everything better, but don’t you wanna know what happened? Aren’t you afraid?”

4. Aye, aye, Ma'am - Mass Effect - Shepard x Kaidan

Shepard stares at him for a few seconds, knowing she is about to make the biggest mistake of her life, looking for something to rescue her from the spiral that is swallowing her.

5. The Three Letters (Ch. 4: Between Light and Water) Tomb Raider - Lara x Jacob

The tone of his voice, how he smiles, and the way that the sun casts its light onto his dark brown hair, hold so much power against her feelings that right now she would even have problems remembering her own name if she was asked to do so.

6. Blue Eyes - Mass Effect - Shepard x Kaidan

She is able to hold her tears to herself for a few more seconds, but the moment they leave the room, they start to pour completely out of control, creating countless rivers of sorrow streaming across her face, with all of her feelings exploding into anguish as soon as she’s left alone with Kaidan. 

7. Don't Leave me Behind (Ch. 2: I Can't Lose you Again) Mass Effect - Shepard x Kaidan

He isn’t surprised by the fact that Kaidan uses the same methods as Shepard to think and get focused. After all, he learned them from her. But the reminder of his friend, the possibility of never getting the chance to see her do that again, hurts him more than he would’ve imagined, causing him to take a deep breath before realizing that something in the whole situation feels weird.

8. Listen Before I Go (Ch. 4: Detroit)

“Eh? Ah no.” He huffs again, looking to the sky with a melancholic look on his face. “Ay Dee… You should’ve seen her, almost half of the bar was trying to hit on her, but I had to try either way, you know?"

9. Don't Leave me Behind (Ch. 6: Nothing Short of Amazing) Mass Effect - Shepard x Kaidan

They follow a path of deep kisses and wandering caresses for a few minutes, letting everything else vanish away, sinking into each other's bodies almost with desperation, but they soon realize all this isn’t enough to satisfy their desires.

10. Somebody that I Used to Know (Ch. 3: Port Observation)

Garrus sighs and takes a second to process everything. He shouldn’t tell him this, but he is way too drunk to get to that conclusion and is also starting to think that he will indeed ask Shepard if he doesn’t tell him.
