i have three partners!! of them, ive known gordon the longest. he was a catalyst to me realizing i'm objectum, actually! he was the result of an in-joke between friends, the two of us bought life-sized plastic skeletons to "marry". they were definitely joking with theirs, but i got extremely domestic & attached to him. he sat on this chair next to my bed and i'd kiss him on the head every morning & every night. he's fallen apart since then- he's only a head now, but i still love him so dearly. there's also a banjo, and she has. several grease-themed nicknames. i was planning on learning the guitar, but ended up with the most beautiful four-stringed banjo instead! she's so beautiful,, i'm thinking of getting her some guitar strap adapters & a nice strap so i can play her more often <3 i feel so bad about not playing her more but shes so heavy im scared ill drop her :(( even before i knew i was objectum ive been calling her my wife. i remember the first week i was with her i only played like 1 song.. i spent most of my time just sitting with her on my lap touching her strings. i still do sometimes the most recent of my partners is a ukulele! we met in a super romcom way, actually. i was on my way home one day & i saw this absolutely gorgeous ukulele *FLY TIPPED* on the side of the road. they were literally perfect too?? i guess they had some very superficial chips in their wood but its like handsome in a rugged mountain man kinda way. i carried them on the train all the way home, cleaned em up with disinfectant wipes and got to tuning. i guess the rest is history

But I'm thinking of maybe including an objectum character in one of my stories bc I find it so interesting and beautiful and was wondering if you had any tips for how to go about that? Thank you for advice you can provide and have a great day!

honestly, you're already most of the way there just by approaching objectum people respectfully as another facet of humanity rather than a freak show! personally that's all I really care about or can say. historically it has been more-than-slim pickings so you can take heart knowing that no matter what you end up writing you will definitely be doing a better job than 99% of writers up to this point.

I think some good questions to ask yourself to help develop an objectum character could be:

does this character believe in or perceive object sentience or have object empathy? are they an animist/spiritualist, POSIC, etc? (are they in a setting where objects literally can be alive/communicate?)

does this character have a specific object partner? multiple, or broad attraction? or is it all platonic or familial?

do they have ties to any objectum community, or is it just them?

do they feel like they're ostracized for or have to hide their relationship(s)? how do they feel about being objectum -- is it a blessing, a curse, or something else?

hope this helps! best of luck in your writing, and truly don't sweat it. in my opinion it's better to have a million flawed pieces of writing that exist in the world than one perfect composite that never is finished in hopes of pleasing everyone.

Are robot/human relationships not a very common thing where the main cast lives?

They're probably a lot more common than it would look like initially because I don't have a lot of human characters designed for my story yet... it's rare but it's far from unheard of It is generally looked down upon by a lot of societies though and with how tiny robots population ratio generally is to humans as well that affects it a lot. A few humans still view robots as still not having real sentience so it's viewed in the same way as dating an AI or inanimate object would be in some cases. (It also leads to the same people treating robots really poorly, which would make robots want to avoid humans more = increasing the rarity of human robot relationships)

As for where my robots live specifically uhhh NZ is still pretty rural in a lot of places so people coming from smaller towns into bigger cities where robots would likely be wouldn't be too fussed about the idea especially. If you're of the objectum persuacion or just plain on the spectrum you'd probably be the type of person to date robots in their universe and coming from me personally I'd be the first to line up.

Has anyone made a Toy Story inspired story but it’s from the perspective of a toy whose owner is objectum and this toy is the objectum owner’s crush? And then one day the objectum person confesses asks this the toy out and the toy who also has feelings for their owner gets so excited that they come to life and very enthusiastically reciprocates.

This freaks the objectum person out letting out a surprised yelp dropping the toy, on the bed and stepping back. Then the toy feeling rather rejected, looks up at their owner like a kicked puppy “I’m sorry! I-I didn’t mean to scare you, but you were confessing your love to me and I just couldn’t help myself!”

The objectum person then smiles and reassures their beloved object that they’re not scared, just very shocked but thrilled to know that the toy is alive and sentient. They embrace and say their ‘I love yous’ and that is the end of the story but the beginning of something beautiful ^w^

Has there ever actually been a written published story about an objectum/osor person? Like full on relationship/sexual encounters with an object or a concept but like ... treated seriously? Not just "haha this guy is so into cars he might as well fuck them" or smth, but like, trying to understand what makes the person turned on/attracted to the object/concept? i read there are a couple of movies that treat the topic to a different level of seriousness, and obviously there are the documentaries about ppl marying the Berlin wall and stuff, but like a fictional representation like the Enfermo del futbol (but you know, actually published lmao). Because I would die to see a novel about a sports coach who is actually in a relationship with the stadium, and the stadium ultimately helps him win a trophy or beat the biggest rival or something. Like, no sci-fi or horror of "the object coming to life", no sad angst "oh this poor guy doesn't have a real-life partner that's so sad he's so lonely", just, you know - a guy and his stadium, like Unai and Villa Park.

I'm reading a lot of things about Hidge's sexuality canon wise. So taking account on what Nick and Matt Lang said (as much as I remember it without rewatching the video proof lol) my argument on why the canon sexuality of Prof. Henry Hidgens is that he is bisexual and Objectumsexual.

Well I think canon wise he is not polyamorous. I can accept that (i have no problem with him being poly canon wise. I am not anti-poly, just faithful with canon) but I remember Nick Lang or even Matt did not specify it. They said, within along the lines/paraphrasing: Henry loves his six boy friends, they are special to him, but Chad IS the apple of his eye. The last sentence they meant romantically.

So why bisexual and not gay? To make it clear, I have no problem with him being gay. I'm willing to be corrected. But since I'm arguing that he's bisexual, well let me start. Of course we haven't seen Hidge talk about or falling in love with specific women characters in the saga so far, however he did say in TGWDLM " Alexa, I love you like every woman flesh and bone", so there ya go. If he can find a woman that is subordinate to him like Alexa and Siri, then he can have a relationship with a woman. Come to think of it, i think he loves Chad the most because I hypothesize Chad always goes along with his plans/ideas. Yes I believe if I were to analyze his relationship personality, he wants to be the dominant in the relationship. He's very controlling and spirals when he doesn't get his way. Which why this is a good segway to...

And with the mention of two famous AI virtual assistants, I think it's enough to say that Hidge has objectophilia. More so in NMT episode Time Bastard where he shared his sexual rendezvous with either one of them to Ted and implied how he did it (some imagination and a little elbow grease or any lube lol). Not to mention that he talks to Alexa and Siri like they're humans. Fun fact, I read somewhere that people who have this sexual orientation cant handle keeping a relationship with another human because they're too controlling hence having a relationship with an object is easier because it has no thoughts, no opinions to consider. Also, this can also be a result of a trauma. Him losing his friends, especially Chad, during a lightning strike attack did not just lead him to isolation and practicing survival instincts, but also drove him to loving objects instead cause at least they won't experience terrible human deaths. Also further explanation:  ur friends can be ur life partners (hence there are old people living with friends in their twilight years) and some people like calling their friends as boyfriends or girlfriends. Hidge is just comfortable with his sexuality and closeness with his friends that he can call his male friends as his boyfriends. I think that's just Jeff's word play and humor going on as he wrote the song. And according to the song "it takes balls": Steve was a priest, Leighton was in a relationship with a person named Gary, and Greg was seeing/dating Steve's mom. Plus all of the boys, sans Chad and Henry, were attracted to females while at college based on their locker room talk acted by the Workin Girls cast.

I'm not like Unhidge Hidge, so tell me about ur thoughts/opinions/rebuttals as long as ur taking account of what I wrote here. Especially proof from the Langs with ur rebuttal. Of course in head canon or fan fic world, anything is free reins and you can experiment with Hidge's sexuality there. Just make sure to specify if it's canon or head canon so to avoid confusion and arguments.

I have the urge to check my HHP Working Boys screen recordings where Nick and Matt discussed Henry's relationship with the boys if it's poly or not. Update 2: Okay I watched it and Nick just says that Chad is his favorite so get out of that as you wish. But since the boys did their locker room talk about girls without Henry and Chad, I don't think the boys were making out with each other unless maybe just Henry and Chad if it's not unreciprocated from Henry's side.

I can understand if most fans think Henry is gay and not bi since Nick and Matt have not given more concrete proof of his attraction to human females. My only arguments with him being bi is that he loves and has done sexual acts with Alexa and Siri, AI virtual assistants with female names and voices. (NMT episode: Time Bastard).

im here to tell you thats a really bad argument.

here’s some things i keep in mind when it comes to topics such as this:

1- objects dont usually have the same expectations as fleshy beings do. just like the parts of an object are innately inhuman; neither are their emotions. some even perceive their objects of interest without emotions. but, if you’re curious about objects that do have feelings such as that, go check out the POSIC+ community.

2- it seems that those who say things like this are only tentative of people fucking objects when the people actually have an attachment to said item. but if this object was a sex toy that some cishet person used just for pleasure, those loud individuals would probably not be saying anything about this.

3- this is internet puritan culture doing its magic once again. its actually awful how sanitized things have become. keep in mind im not talking about harmful paraphilias such as necrophilia or zoophilia. im talking about things as simple as saying you find an object sexy. we all know the one post of the anon that had a crush on a radio tower as a kid. the story was so wholesome, and then people had to act like it was a freakish display of human naivety and cringe.

okay Hi im taking a short break from drawing thangs to answer this :) 1. I don't think i'd ever pitch any of my personal oc stories as a TV show or film. I don't like the idea of losing control and copyright of a story so near and dear to me and esp with the current state media is in a lot of stuff would be censored/edited and because I don't live in the states pitching an animated show or film would probably be near impossible for a story like this anyway. A comic on the otherhand is something im genuinely considering, I'd have to figure out the plot fully and find the time to do something like that as well. The story was written to be easily made into a comic format though. 2. These specific robot characters I've only actually had for like,,, 7 months? A lot of work has gone into them in that time span tho. But I'm sorry there isn't a huge timeline where I'm like "I drew my first robot in 2008 and that is where tandy begun" I kinda always had a background interest in robots that just needed the right spark. Back in 2020 I did some AU art of already existing characters as robots (if you know who these are, hi) but these weren't really proper characters, just a fun art prompt.

But I bought Tandy as an adoptable back last september by the artist @acid-redux heres the original design I bought here:

It's actually by a pretty slim chance that I bought this guy! I saw the character a couple months earlier and decided not to buy him initially and came back, saw it was unsold and thought about it. Even after some people told me it wasn't worth the money to buy it I decided to buy him anyway. I said I had "ideas" for him, and that I did. This is the first drawing I ever did of Tandy, if you're wondering if there's like any art earlier than this like sketches or anything I don't really do that when it comes to drawing characters a lot of the time I just go right in. (also the most recent for comparison)

But yeah I totally fell in love with the character after that! I was instantly keen on doing a story with him though with who or what was debatable. Initially he had literally nobody to interact with, I was already openly objectum at this point so the earliest drawings of him show him interacting with computers.

My bestie Marty tho @bytevamp did a character trade with me and I asked if he could design me a character to interact with Tandy, all I specified was a computer robot that wasn't too close in model as Tandy and he made me Sierra :) his design alongside my first drawing of her:

this was the first drawing of Tandy and Sierra interacting. Tandy doesn't act this meekly in the current story and Sierra is a lot nicer than this to Tandy initially.

and after that I had a third robot that I still haven't found a proper place in my story/introduced him properly. His name is just "Tinbot" and he was meant to be a robot Sierra and Tandy help get back on its feet. I might have plans in the future for him but in the meantime he's on the backburner. (side note wtf is Tandy wearing)

I'd be here all day if I were to say all the robots vs their initial designs. I usually have other people design my robot characters though (sometimes in exchange for robot characters I designed) in the story the robots are built by different people so having a mix of people design them would better give that impression in my mind. My robot characters I design personally usually come from me scribbling ideas on a procreate canvas, saving them for later and if I can't stop thinking about that one robot I drew I'll fully design them, Lithium's first drawing was in the corner of one of these random sketches, something about his lack of fingers and him telling someone to KYS really spoke to me.

3. Speaking of Lithium... I had a few ideas rattling in my brain for how they met, It was either through Cathy, through Max or Lithium met Sonnet while she was working and went OO TINY ROBOT.

As for whether Sonnet realises Lithium is a bit of a dipshit, she's fully aware of his behaviour as much as anyone else is but prefers to view him through his more positive traits. Lithium isn't irredeemable or anything, Tandy just really really hates him

4. Fashion with robots is funny, the tails don't really come into play as much since they usually just stick them over their waistband or cut a hole in their pants since their cables aren't super big. I will say one thing that I don't think I've said before is that robots can actually remove their cable tails and stick them back on when they need to charge or whatever. But if you had the option to have a tail I think most people would say yes, and robots decide that as well. Phillip and Newton decide to do this a lot, Phillip is almost never seen with his tail and Newton takes it on n off or just sticks it in his pants where it doesn't stick out since its shorter. As for colour choice robots don't have any distinct reason to choose the colours they do? Some might prefer high contrast clothing or lighter coloured clothing if their eyesight is better suited for clothes like that.

Someone talk to me about the Romance language of construction

the process of building structures so beautiful, so meaningful, and doing it alongside machines and tools and things which in so many ways are our partners as human beings, existentially. This is so deep to me, and makes me always think of this starting passage in the book The Meaning of Things, “[…] the transactions between people and the things they create constitute a central aspect of the human condition. Past memories, present experiences, and future dreams of each person are inextricably linked to the objects that comprise his or her environment”.

But not just the construction of singular things, such as one skyscraper (though a single skyscraper is so beautiful and intricate and takes so much thought and planning and design and hard work to create - indeed many millions of people worldwide dedicate a great portion of their lives to the task) but the process of the construction cumulatively. For example, to build a city - now that is the love language I want to talk more about. To be an objectum person, to watch a city be built, or even to play a part, with the tools you may love, to create structures of mind-boggling complexity and beauty out of nothing, and/or to watch them be created, grow … to watch a city’s skyline form into something beautiful out of nothing when you yourself have put a part of your very soul into it.

the experience of falling in love with the preconstruction of a building - or else a tool or machine used for the job - and spending nights walking the earth there, falling deeply in love there before anything is even created, only to someday witness a skyscraper stand there as a permanent testament to love, a stunning monument in a city of monuments to the stories of all the people who worked there, all the machines and tools who helped create them. Homes, sure, but they’re so much more than that to me. Construction is a love language to me and always will be
