Bobby: We need someone to go into the sewer. Any volunteers?
Buck, Chim, Hen, Eddie: Not it.
Ravi: Hold the fuck up!
The 118: *all standing up to hug Ravi*
Ravi: This is straight up bullying.

sorry to ask but does nedpan/nedcan drama feature anywhere in the human AU lol concerning Matt?
Looool it does. Matt's a hoe in his college years. He's about 18 shacking up with a 40+ year old Jan who's his economics professor and has been with his own long term partner, Kiku, for decades but they're in a bit of a tiff and separated when Matt comes into the picture as the pretty young blonde mistress. Matt's got some abandonment issues from his mom taking off and some attention issues from having interests that not only don't really keep his parents very much but scare François' + from Alfred having that much, much rougher childhood. So Jan gave him approval on a project about the financial benefits of well maintained nature and oops, there he is shacking up until Jan drops him like a rock when he and Kiku reconcile.

It was a only a kiss (how did it end up like this)
Just a silly ficlet based on this anon that @housewifebuck got 🖤
1.8k | Read on Ao3
One of the first things that Maddie had ever taught him when she taught him how to drive was the importance of wearing his seatbelt. Buck had been 16 years old and he had been traumatized by his sister showing him pictures of accidents where people weren’t wearing their seatbelts. Ever since, Buck would quickly put it on as soon as he was seated in any car.
When he was a probie he would always use the belts in the engine, until he realized that he was the only one doing it, and that it usually made him lag a few seconds behind everyone else, so he quickly stopped doing it. That had been years ago, and he didn’t think about it much now, it wasn’t that big of a deal, he had told himself then that he was saving lives and that meant he could be a little reckless with his own.
And, except for the bombing incident - that Buck would argue didn’t count - none of them had ever gotten hurt because they didn’t wear their seatbelts in the engine, so it wasn’t something that they’d ever talk about. It wasn’t that important.
Of all the accidents that Maddie had shown Buck all those years ago none of them had come near as bad as this one was.
It was a normal day, they were heading to a call and chatter around the engine was flowing, everyone was teasing Chim since he had been a little bit of a groomzilla with some arrangements for his wedding, Buck was sitting in his usual seat across from Eddie, Buck’s knees fitted in between Eddie’s, everyone was laughing at Chim’s expense when the truck came to a sudden stop.
In an universe where both Buck and Eddie had been wearing their seatbelts, nothing would’ve happened, Buck might’ve gotten his breath knocked out of him from the force he was pushed forwards, but nothing more than a bruise would’ve appeared on his skin.
Sadly, in this universe, Buck wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
There were groans heard all over the cabin, Hen had fallen into the floor, and next to her Ravi had hit his head on Chim’s knee. Luckily for Buck and Eddie, they were all distracted dealing with their own pain to notice the position in which they had landed.
It was a very compromising position. The impulse had thrown Buck forward, making him slide to his knees right between Eddie’s legs, while the bounce back had made Eddie fall forward just as Buck was looking up to make sure that his friend was okay. If you’d ask him now, he wouldn’t be able to tell you how it was exactly that it happened, at least not the initial kiss.
Because as soon as Buck looked up, Eddie fell forward and their lips crashed, quite literally, together. The initial kiss was actually a little painful, Buck was sure he tasted a little blood from where his lip was trapped between Eddie’s and his teeth, both him and Eddie were just staring at each other with their eyes wide open in shock, and their lips still pressed together.
Then, Buck saw as Eddie’s eyelids shut close, and then the pressure from his lips was no longer painful, but more of a soft pressure, it took Buck a second to figure out that Eddie was actually kissing him now, his lips had moved to mold into Buck’s perfectly, and now they were begging Buck’s to wake up and kiss him back.
Which he did, for a second, before the groaning and complaining of their coworkers was loud enough to break them out of the spell they had fallen to; by the time Hen turned to them to ask them if they were okay, they were avoiding each other’s eyes, and blushing.
“Yeah, yeah we’re good” Eddie said quickly.
Buck groaned as he got up and sat back in his seat, “Yeah, say that to my knees” he mumbled, and then looked at the poor state of his uniform, completely covered in dirt, the place where he had landed on was a little scrapped but not enough to be noticeable enough that he’d have to get new slacks, so there was at least that.
“Yeah,” Eddie agreed, Buck looked up to him, and found him frowning at Buck’s slacks, “They look rough”
“How come you’re completely clean?” Chim asked Eddie, who shrugged in reply and said:
“Well, I mostly landed on Buck? I didn’t really landed on the floor a all”
“Of course you did”
“Sorry everyone,” Bobby said from the front, “Anyone hurt?”
Everyone replied that they were okay, and soon after they were on their way again, rushing off to save lives.
Buck should’ve stopped thinking about the kiss, he should’ve focus on the emergency in front of him and the people needing their help, but all that he could think about was the soft press of Eddie’s lips on his, and how Eddie could’ve pulled away much much sooner than he did, but instead he had decided to kiss Buck, and turned Buck’s world completely upside down.
It wasn’t like Buck hadn’t thought about it before, he’d had one or two dreams about being with Eddie through the years, but Buck had always thought it was just his brain latching to his very attractive best friend while he was going through a very long dry spell, but he had never actually wanted to do any of those things - Or maybe the thought had crossed his mind a long time ago, but he squashed it right down, telling himself that whatever feelings he might have, weren’t worth the risk of losing Eddie.
“Hey,” Eddie’s voice broke him out of his thoughts, he nearly jumped when one of his hands landed on Buck’s hip, but he soon relaxed into the touch, the same he always did when Eddie touched him, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” Buck assured him, taking a deep breath, “Just, oh, a lot in my mind”
Eddie smiled at him and nodded, “I can imagine what about” Buck considered his blush was answer enough “Maybe, huh, we can talk about it? Over lunch? After work?”
Buck stared at Eddie, he also had a nice blush lighting up his face, his eyes were gleaming, while he was smiling shyly, a smile that wasn’t all the way there, like he couldn’t fully smile until Buck agreed to go on a date with him.
Eddie had just asked him out on a date.
They had kissed not even two hours ago, and now Eddie was asking him on a date looking adorably nervous and Buck wanted to say yes, to a date, to forever, no anything that Eddie had to offer, and oh. Oh.Oh fuck.
“How long have I been in love with you?” He blurred out instead of saying yes to Eddie’s question.
Eddie blinked owlishly at him, before tilting his head, and finally letting that beautiful smile of his spread over his face.
“Well, I’m hoping as long as I have been in love with you, which is to say a few years now”
“Yeah?” Buck was sure that his heart was going to beat out of his chest.
“Yeah, Buck”
“Okay,” he smiled, “We should talk about, uh, everything I guess, over lunch, a lunch date, you and me”
Eddie rolled his eyes and squeezed Buck’s hip before letting go and turning around to put away the equipment they had used during the call.
“It’s a date!” He called over his shoulder, and Buck had to try very very hard to not giggle like a schoolgirl.
The rest of the shift was tortuously slow, not necessarily because there wasn’t any calls, overall it was a very normal shift; but every time they sat across each other in the engine and their knees brushed together Buck felt himself blush, and when they had down time at the station, Eddie kept himself close to Buck.
The rest of the crew seemed to notice that something had shifted, but no one said anything, at most Hen kept raising her eyebrows at how close Buck and Eddie seemed to be, Buck tried to ignore her knowing looks but the blush in his cheeks might’ve given him away.
By the time the shift ended, Buck couldn’t wait to get out of the station and get to his date with Eddie. His first date with Eddie.
“Ready to head out?” Eddie asked him.
“Yeah, yeah, let’s go, want me to drive?”
“Yeah, I was just thinking something low key? Like that sandwich place you really like?”
“Ok, yeah, that sounds perfect”
They stared at each other for a little bit too long, Buck still couldn’t believe that he was going on a date with Eddie, and for the look in Eddie’s face, he was also still processing.
“Okay, let’s go” Eddie said, breaking their trance.
They were halfway through the parking lot when Buck felt Eddie’s hand reach out for his and tangled their fingers together.
They had their second kiss against the jeep, Eddie pushed Buck against it, cradled his head in his hands and then kissed him slowly. This was what their first kiss should’ve been like, not an accidental bump, but Buck couldn’t bring himself to hate it or regret it, since it had led them to finally cross the line and get here.
“Maybe we can skip lunch?” Buck suggested, Eddie chuckled and kissed him again.
“Nope, I’m taking you out on a date, c’mon, we can make out after”
Buck laughed, but finally got into the truck. Their first date felt like any other outing they had done before, the staff wasn’t surprised that they had walked in holding hands or that they couldn’t seem to stop making heart eyes at each other, it made Buck wonder if they had all just assumed they had been together the entire time.
By the time they were done with their food, they wordlessly agreed to go back to Eddie’s house to maybe catch a nap before they needed to go pick up Chris from school, Buck noticed just truly how mixed together their lives already were, how Eddie’s house was already filled with Buck’s stuff, he even had two drawers full of his clothes.
“You okay?” Eddie asked him, when he noticed he had gone quiet while he picked up a t-shirt and some shorts.
“Yeah, just, why hadn’t we gotten together sooner?”
Eddie laughed, “Buck, you didn’t know you were in love with me until we accidentally kissed and I asked you out”
Buck blushed, “Yeah well, you knew, why didn’t you do anything?”
Eddie shook his head, “We weren’t ready, I don’t think, we got here when he needed to,” he shrugged, “that’s all that matters”
Buck kissed him, and couldn’t help but agree with him, he might’ve been a little slow on the update, but at least they had gotten here.

Happy trailer drop day! Hope ya'll are having some fun clowning, theorizing, and freaking out in general. I am. Hope I can add to that fun with another NFL Buck snippet, though I'm not too sure. This is a kind of sad snippet, featuring Red. Enjoy? (All things NFL Buck)
Eddie is midway through a somewhat calm 24 hour shift when his phone vibrates with a call. Caller i.d. shows a picture of his previous captain Tommy Vega with her twin daughters smiling bright at the last Texan's game Eddie brought them too. He is slightly confused as to why she would be calling in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday, but Tommy is a good friend and Eddie is always happy to talk to her. "Hey Tom's this is a pleasant surprise." Eddie answers abandoning his UNO cards, and leaning back in his chair. Across the table, a slightly irritated Chim scowls, mouthing 'Tom's' towards Hen sitting at the head of the table, who just shrugs and sets her own cards down, officially putting the game on pause. "Oh thank god." Ravi groans under his breath, slumping down in his chair next to Eddie's. Poor probie has had to draw way too many cards and Chimney was an evil bastard who kept making him draw one too many cards. "Eddie." Tommy states, her voice apologetic and layered with grief. Immediately, Eddie gets to his feet, and stalks over to kitchen, ignoring his crew mates startled and concerned looks. The last time Tommy said his name in such a way, his friend and previous paramedic partner Tim had been killed by a freaking lava rock. So yea, Eddie knew this tone of voice from Tommy meant only bad news and he needed the space to hear it. "Tommy, what is it?" He asks glumly, bracing himself for the worst. The paramedic captain lets out a wet sigh, "Its Red, Eddie. The cancer's back and they're saying he has less than six months." His stomach drops to his feet. Not Red. Not the man that not only Buck looked up to, but Eddie as well. The man who gave him and Buck a safe haven to be a couple. The man who is practically a pseudo-godfather to Christopher. His red door and sign, one of the most prominent points of Eddie's and Buck's relationship is because of Red. His motto, 'Just walk in' has gotten them through the toughest times since meeting. And now they are going to lose him to something he thought he had beaten. Fuck the universe. Fuck cancer.
*Hides behind offensive linemen (big ass football players that protect the quarterback)* I'm sorry?

Tease tidbit Tuesday
Thank you @wikiangela @loserdiaz for the tag!
The past weekend I decided not to stress out about not participating in Inspiration Saturday and Seven sentence Sunday, I haven't been able to write much, but today I wrote a little bit for Green is just not your color Eddie, a Buck dates Josh during s5 and Eddie is jealous fic.
He can’t believe his eyes. His, so far, shitty week just got better at the sight of Buck’s Jeep in the parking lot at dispatch. He’s not sure exactly why he’s here, he knows Maddie isn’t ready to come back to her old job just yet, so it’s not like he’s here to drop her off. Maybe he just misses him that much. Eddie doesn’t know who Buck’s new partner is, but knowing his friend and remembering the Buck from his first day as a probie, he’s probably not handling it well. He’d feel guilty for leaving him like that when they had promised to have each other's back if he wasn’t doing this for Christopher. He knows Buck understands. He walks up to the Jeep, he’s about to get the handle of the passenger’s door when it suddenly opens, making him take a step back. “See you tonight, hotshot.” he hears Josh’ voice saying. He stands there, watching as Josh gets out of the jeep, a to-go coffee cup in one hand and blowing a kiss to the remaining person inside the car with the other. Blowing a kiss to Buck. “Oh, good morning, Eddie.” He feels frozen to the spot, Josh walking past him and into the building. ‘Hotshot’ He called Buck ‘Hotshot’. To say he’s shocked is an understatement. Since when? Why? How? With Josh? Isn’t Buck straight!?
Oh, Eddie.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie.
Poor little Eddie, he thought Buck was there for him.
😈

been ready for you to come home (for so long) 2k
For Buddie Week Day 1: Borrowing/stealing/sharing Clothes - Secretly Married - "I'm right here, I always have been."
I tried to mix them all together into one story
read on ao3 here
Eddie Diaz was many things. A practical man first and foremost. An upstanding member of society. He kept a level head, and didn’t panic. He had spent years in the military and then working as a first responder. He kept certain secrets close to his chest, not willing to bring them out into the light. There were a few situations that caused him to panic, to forget why certain things were secrets, to not fully think through the consequences.
For the most part, it was an uneventful day. Calls were few and far between. Mostly minor medical calls requiring only Hen and Chim, occasionally Bobby, to leave the firehouse. On any other day, it would have been great for Eddie. He could have gotten a work out in, maybe knock out a book or two from the community shelf, maybe even practice some Mario Kart so he could beat Christopher later that night. None of that had happened though. He spend most of the day working on the stock closets. Eddie had not been hanging out in them to avoid Buck, thank you very much.
Buck and Eddie got into a small, teeny tiny fight over dinner the previous night. It was an argument the two had had several times before. Buck wanted to help pay for some of Christopher’s activities, and Eddie wouldn’t budge on his no. Money was always a touchy subject between the two. Eddie never wanted to take advantage of Buck and all his kindness. He had already gone above and beyond for the Diazes, Eddie was not going to take anything more. Yes Christopher had really wanted to go to the science camp over the summer. Eddie would just have to pick up some extra overtime, it wasn’t a big deal. With Christopher’s thriving social life it would be easy enough to find a sleepover for the kid while he went to work. Buck had argued that Eddie didn’t need to, and Buck wanted to help. It had maybe resulted in a yelling match, both saying things they didn’t mean. Buck had left Eddie’s house that night in a huff, and the two had not spoken since. So no, Eddie was not avoiding Buck that morning. He was just giving him some space. If Eddie knew how their day would end he would have thrown himself at Buck’s feet and begged for forgiveness.
There had finally been a call in the last hour of their shift that required all hands on deck. There had been a fight at a family picnic at the park. The 118, along with a few police members, had been dispatched to handle everything. The ride there in the truck was tense, only light chatter between Bobby and their engineer. It was stifling in the back between Buck, Eddie, and Ravi. Their poor probie always seemed to end up on the most awkward of A Shift days. When they got to the scene Bobby made the wise choice to separate Buck and Eddie. Eddie was sent with Hen and Chim to triage patients, Buck was with Ravi on crowd control.
Eddie tried to focus on his patients. He was not superstitious, but Buck left without a fist bump or shoulder pat. Neither man would admit it out lout, but it was always a ‘be safe, see you soon, I love you’ between them. Eddie uneasy without it. He knew it was a dangerous job, but Buck seemed to get injured far more than the rest of them. While wrapping his patients arm into a split, he let his mind start formulating exactly what he wanted to say to Buck. He needed a plan, or it would all end up going out the window like it did the last time they talked. Eddie could express his fears and apprehension from accepting more help from Buck. He needed to. Buck deserved it. Without planning it out, Eddie always got frustrated with his lack of ability to communicate his feelings. They had 48 off, so after their shift he could go home, do a load of laundry, pick up Christopher, and then invite Buck for dinner so they could talk it out. A perfectly laid plan that couldn’t come to fruition.
The details of what happened weren’t exactly clear to Eddie. There was shouting coming from behind him, and a startled yelp from Buck. He whipped around fast enough to see the younger man stumbling away from a woman, and the police tackling the woman to the ground. Buck’s eyes found Eddie, and they were full of panic. There was more yelling, and Eddie knew he abandoned his patient to run over to Buck. Chimney had beat him over. It was a cacophony of yelling as Ravi rushed over with a backboard. Buck had been stabbed, and Eddie was useless. He knew he wouldn’t be allowed to help. He was pretty sure he held Buck’s hand the whole way there. He knew after the first time Buck coded that he just let all his feelings out. What words said? He didn’t know. Probably some reassurance to try and help Buck. Could have been about his undying love and unrequited crush on Buck but that was neither here nor there.
When Eddie got covered in Buck’s blood was a complete unknown to him. He didn’t fully recognize it until Hen pulled him into the bathroom and cleaned him up. His dirty shirt was swapped out for a hoodie. Instantly, Eddie knew it wasn’t his hoodie. It was a little too lose in the shoulders, and the arm cuffs were worn out from where Buck pushed it up his forearms. It was the spare one stored in the ambulance, for when Buck inevitable ended up injured or cold on a call. He did end up wet on calls far more than normal, looking like a drenched puppies. He was adorably pathetic in those moments.
Eddie felt the fresh tears streaming down his face at that point. He might not see Buck like that again. Everything else was a blur again, his feelings of worry overtaking everything else. He didn’t care that he was eventually put into an uncomfortable chair. He didn’t care that everyone was treating him like fragile glass. He didn’t care about anything except Buck’s well being. He did know at some point he called Pepa to keep her updated and ask if she could watch Christopher. It wasn’t until a doctor came out to inform them that Buck was going to be touch and go through the night. The stab nicked one of his lungs, and they were concerned about that. They couldn’t allow anyone except family to come back. Bobby’s protests fell on deaf ears. Eddie’s grief turned into anger. He couldn’t let the last time he talked to Buck be them arguing if something happened. Eddie wasn’t prepared to do any of this without Buck.
“Please, he’s family. Let me go back and see him.” Eddie’s voice cracked, but there was a clear sharpness to his tone. He looked up at the doctor hoping his pleading eyes would work. He could feel the doctor about to shut his request down. He panicked, pulling out his in case of emergency card. He knew he was going to have to explain to the team later but he didn’t care. He needed to see Buck.
“He’s my husband. You can check the records. Eddie Buckley-Diaz. Please, just let me back. I need to see him.”
Feeling the weight of the stares of the team, Eddie waited as the doctor flipped through Buck’s chart. He gave a small nod before speaking “Alright Mr. Buckley-Diaz, we can take you back.”
Eddie stood up, feeling his joints creak. He followed the doctor with a single minded focus of just Buck, Buck, Buck. He wouldn’t feel normal again until he laid eyes on the other man. Maybe he should have promised to give the team an update. However he knew the team and the team knew him. He knew they were going ask questions about them somehow being married. He didn’t feel like he could answer them all. Not alone. Not when he couldn’t explain how it started as a joke, but then it somehow ended up with the two of them in a courthouse. It was one of the smartest choices Eddie had ever made clearly. The only thing Eddie heard before the doors shut behind him was Ravi’s confused voice. “Wait, I thought they were divorced. Can you get remarried after that?”
There was no reason for the older man to pay attention to where in the hospital he was being lead. He had been to Cedars-Sinai at least 7 times to many. The doctor at the very least didn’t try and hold conversation. Eddie couldn’t even remember what his name was, too focused on hearing how Buck had been doing. He would learn it later, once he saw Buck.
Somehow, it never got easy seeing Buck in the hospital beds. His giant form always got dwarfed by the beds. He always looked so much younger, as if the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders. His medic brain tried to take in his surroundings. That logical part of him knew Buck was as safe as he could possibly be. The machines were working, doing their jobs. The IVs running into Buck’s arm were helping. The uncomfortable oxygen mask was keeping his lungs working. There was nothing Eddie could do that the doctor’s hadn’t. It didn’t stop Eddie from pulling a chair from the corner as close to Buck’s bed as possible. Eddie rest his hand on Buck’s wrist. He needed to feel the other man’s pulse for himself. Some part of the back of his brain recognized the doctor had left after leaving them, likely informing a nurse about Buck having a visitor. It meant that Eddie could work through what he wanted to say to Buck without it anyone else overhearing.
“Buck, I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I know you were just trying to help, and you didn’t do anything wrong. I just need to work through it with Frank, maybe even have you come to a session.” It was something Eddie had thought about before. Knowing then he didn’t have to worry about using the right words. Buck and Frank could usually work out what he meant, or at least when it was clear Eddie was trying to say something different than how the words were coming out. “You’re such an important part of Christopher’s life, of my life. I know I have some abandonment issues, but you’re not Shannon. It isn’t fair for you to be treated like you are. I need you to know how important you are to me. I know we got married to protect Christopher, to make sure my parents couldn’t try and take him from you. But you and I? We are so much more than that.”
Eddie used his spare hand to wipe the tears from his eyes. He did let out a soft laugh, knowing Buck would be so mad at him for using his hoodie sleeve for that. Buck usually treated his hoodies like they were precious. He then moved his hand to intertwine his fingers with Buck’s, pulling the other man’s hand to his lips. It was for Eddie’s reassurance, but he hoped it would give Buck some peace in his sleep. “When you wake up, I have so much to say to you. It wouldn’t be fair for me to say it when you can’t respond. I think you know, but I know you need words. For now, I just need you to know I’m right here, I always have been. I’m not going anywhere until you kick me out.”
Eddie would have sat in that uncomfortable chair for years if that’s what Buck wanted. If that was how he was to pay his penance. Come morning, when the sun rose and Buck’s blue eyes opened to the world, the two would have a lot to talk about. Until then, Eddie would sit and think about all the ways to tell Buck he loved him, all the ways he could chase any doubts he caused out of Buck’s mind, and everything he knew he needed to fix about himself not just for Buck, but for him.

WIP Wednesday
Adding to my Thunderbirds fic with OC Lieutenant Tamara Fielding & Jonesy (both firefighters who work with Chief McCready). The fic is written completely out of order (my brain refuses to be anything but chaotic!)
💙👨‍🚒👩‍🚒🚀☔
Tam set her coffee down on the countertop of the front desk and dragged an office chair towards her.
God she hated paperwork, especially during the winter months. Maybe she could shred the whole pile...create a fire in the foyer - anything to thaw out her frozen hands. Then again, arson, as a rule, was somewhat frowned upon within the firefighting community. Killjoys.
Tam cradled the quickly cooling coffee, attempting to leech the remaining heat from it.
"You gonna drink that or buy it dinner?"
"Oh I'd take it to bed with me if I could, but I've somehow gotta make your numbers look good so Chief McCready doesn't fire your ass."
"Sounds like an easy day to me. I am, after all, Jonesy... the living legend."
Tam arched a brow as he flexed
"Hmmm...those weren't the words I was thinking of."
"Well I'm not sure you can use ruggedly handsome in a report?"
Tam took a sip of her coffee.
"I've known cats with smaller egos than yours."
Jonesy grinned.
"So why's Chief got you hooled up here anyway? I miss my partner in crime. The probie ain't bad, but I want my work wife back."
Tam took an elongated slurp of her now-iced-latte, before the phone mercifully rang.
"Hold up, I've gotta take this."
Jonesy gave a mock salute, winked, then headed in the general direction of the lockers.
"London Fire Brigade"
"Guess who?"
"Scott?"
"Guilty as charged!"
"How...err...how are you? Sorry, I wasn't expecting it to be you. Is everything okay, I mean, is there a situation we can assist with?"
"Oh! No, it's just a friendly call. I've asked EOS and John to cover any incoming calls to the station  while we chat."
"That's...erm...thanks?"
"So! In answer to your earlier question - I'm well. Bored as hell, stuck doing paperwork, but you know what they say...no rest for the wicked!"
"I'm not sure anyone in your family really fits that description."
"Honestly? Even after Gordon switched the letters  around on your keyboard?"
"That was him?"
"Like I said, wicked."
There was a brief pause.
"How's everyone else? I don't think I managed to catch Virgil before I left."
"Ah yes. Tyre factory fire in Madrid. To be fair, he's not one for goodbyes. But yes - the rest of the family's well. Kayo, I think, is missing the female company already as she's being proper ornery today. I think Alan's gonna have to game standing up as she kicked his arse good n proper sparring this morning."
Tam chuckled despite herself.
"Poor Alan."
"Anyway, just thought I'd drop you a line to see how life back at the station was going?"
"Oh. Well...s'been okay. Chief McCready has me on desk duty today thanks to the whole surfboard incident. Told her my head was fine, but, yeah. Here I am checking fire alarms, fitting car seats and making coffee. Life in the fast lane..."
"Hey, don't knock it. I've spent the day crunching numbers."
"You love numbers."
"Yeah, not these numbers though. Hey! We could swap? You do my Tracy Industries calcs and I'll brew the coffees?"
"Sure, I mean, only if I get to work in your office? The London drizzle and concrete doesn't quite stand up to your sea view."
"Deal! I'll bring One around as soon as I can suit up!"
"Oh, and I should warn you...don't drink the coffee. It's the cheapest instant sh*t they could find...and it's decaf."
"Ah now, that may be a deal-breaker you see..."
"Damnit"
"Yeah. Can't be pulling all night rescues on weak wanna-be-coffee."
"You wouldn't cut it here then Commander...better stick to your paperwork."
"Touché! Anyway...I better head off and let you get back to it. It was nice hearing your voice. Maybe we can grab lunch whenever I'm next in London?"
"I'd like that."
"Great, I'll get John to locate the nearest McDonald's for us."
There was a click as Scott hung up.
Tam chuckled.
"Jackass."

Tease Tidbit Tuesday ✨
tagged by @exhuastedpigeon <3 I did just post a completed fic yesterday *cough* here *cough* so this is from my next WIP that I'm starting the immediately just in case the muses run off on me 😅 it's a sentinel/guide au spanning season 2 forward.
Buck had a fairly turbulent year with the 118 as a probie. During the first 6 months he made more than one poor choice, both on duty and off. Everything changed at the halfway point when he came online as a sentinel. After that, he was too busy figuring out how he was going to stay a firefighter, and if/how he was going to find a guide, to get into too much trouble. To the point where he really thought in the last month or so that he was proving to his captain and the other firefighters on his shift that he is someone they can trust to have their backs. He thought they were starting to see him as a key part of the team. He certainly thought they saw him as a friend.
Then they all assumed he was dating multiple women online despite his protests that he wasn’t dating anyone now that he was online as a sentinel, let alone multiple women at once.
And then his promotion to full firefighter came and went without any kind of acknowledgement from anyone other than Bobby, and he realized maybe he wasn’t as close to his team as he thought.
no pressure tagging: anyone who wants to share!

A Thousand Yards notes:
- It being Jackie’s 60th birthday made me google Paula Newsome, and she’s apparently 62 (how??!), also I could swear she was meant to be a few years younger than Vance (born in ‘63)
- I thought of Lee Wuan Kai when Vance collapsed- something about it seemed like her
- Air Force One!!! Our very first episode
- I love these recent seasons’ Curtis Hubley resurgence, and we got a ‘probie’ mention
- Jared’s agent behavior was very sweet
- Kasie got to namedrop the title!
- Sniper on a rooftop? Oof
- Morrow family crypt, Dr. Kate’s sister mention, Chucky(!) mention, and poor Fornell- his garage is his office (also Knight needs to brush up on her history)
- How hard would it have been to get a NOLA cast member?
- McGee putting his foot in his mouth! Also McDirector returns
- Vance looking to Parker for advice like he would Gibbs was just ❤️
- I appreciated Parker’s stance on billionaires- a nice change from ‘Left Unsaid’, using the name ‘Voss’ was a risky move, considering the plot of ‘Dead Man Talking’ (also the actor was in ‘One Shot, One Kill’)
- Somebody not being able to get into MTAC- fun times
- Jared being manipulated online? Come on, seriously?
- Bringing drinks to the lab- nice Abby reference
- They missed an opportunity for the Adams House
- Everybody giving Lindsey Wexler death stares was great
- Fornell and a couch? Hmm
- Well, the conspiracy theory about Jackie was right
- Rule 39! One of my favorites
- Camera-clicking in a ball cap and another Gibbs reference!
- Gaslit? Facepalm but a GREMLIN MENTION makes up for it
- His name was Leonard Rush, writers :/, also I knew Lindsey would be the daughter of someone from the early days, but I didn’t guess him
- Threat to Air Force One- full-circle moment!
- William Baer Jr. was a relatively-obscure reference, I approve
- Driving through the gates- a very Gibbs move, more approval
- They did a great job making Vance look younger, and we got a flashback montage right back to ‘Hung Out To Dry’, although I wish they’d included Reeves, Abby, and Jenny
- Bringing up how they never get credit omg
Overall, this was a great episode that took us right back to the beginning. Here’s to all those to come

matthew has babies in a human au? oh pls expound on those disagreements between dad matt and uncle alfred 👀 did matthew adopt them? or had them in a one night stand and took full custody?
He accidentally knocked Katya up when she was 28 and he was 21. Alfred was about 26 and furious about it because of how young Matt was and not even finished with university. And French Canada with its spectacularly high birthrate historically and Katya's native Ukraine where marriage and children generally happen a bit earlier, Matt decides to finish his degree quickly, marry her and start up that family he always knew he was going to have anyway. Francis approves because honestly the man had a child to have grandchildren after Matt was a bit of a disappointment anyway. Arthur's not thrilled about it but Matt rushes through his graduation, gets a job with forestry and fire fighting and builds himself and Katya a life. She has an agriculture and business degree but they decide she'll focus on the kids while he takes up more work.
It's not very happy after a while. Matt's always missing things with the kid, Katya's frustrated with the fact she can't commit to as nearly as many opportunities as she makes for herself because she's the primary caregiver. And then one fire season, Matt gets well smoked and when he's bitten by a tick not long after after half assing a tick check because his kid is calling him to play, gets himself some lyme disease. Stubborn as he is to make this work, it isn't until he is literally at his parents with the wean (who is a very cherubic mama's boy named Florian) because a second trimester-pregnant Katya is in Calgary on a business trip and he's literally to sick and lyme-stiff too get out of bed without crying that he's like "fuck it, you win, we need to change and I need a doctor's appointment. Ow." So he's about 26 when he becomes mostly a stay at home father of eventually four. He goes back to school part time in cultural and environmental management and when the kids are older goes back to work part time but he's really happy as a stay at home dad and occasional woodworker because honestly Katya has such clever and absolutely ruthless business brain she does much better as the bread winner lmao.

@wolfstarmicrofic october six: afraid
Read the previous parts here on AO3: wherever flames may rage, or search my page for #firefighter au
"Lieutenant? Really?"
"Is it so crazy?"
Remus chews on his thumbnail and shrugs, feeling like a teenager again in baggy clothes and ripped jeans being told he has potential. "I mean..."
"Stop that." Sirius swats his poor, abused fingers away from his face and kisses the damp ends of them as if to apologize for Remus. "What are you afraid of?Why don't you think you can do it?"
"Two queer firefighters is attention-grabbing enough, let alone two queer officers. And I've just stopped being "probie" here!"
Sirius scoffs and grabs Remus's hands. "That's exactly why. Not the probie thing, that's dumb. But that fucking mindset! Please. Let's do it! They need people like you."
Remus frowns, feeling a headache coming on. He's thought about it before. Of course he has. He's more ambitious than he lets on but that's not even why he'd go for the extra bars on his collar... He wants to make change. To do all the things Sirius means, shake up the old guard, show people that they're enough. "Three lieutenants in a station, though? About as queer as a three-legged goose."
Sirius's mouth pulls into a conspiratorial smirk that doesn't quite reach his eyes. "Well this goose is getting an amputation."
"...what?" Remus has lost the metaphor.
"James is going for Captain."
It's not often that three captaincy positions open up, but two of them retired, and Captain Shacklebolt got made Battalion Chief and Lily is slotted for his spot. Which means James... "But he'll-"
"Have to move stations, yeah." Sirius can't fully mask the strain in his voice. It really would be an amputation, given how attached the two of them are.
That settles it. "I'm not going to be the reason you and James are separated after all this time," Remus says firmly, crossing his arms over his chest.
Sirius glares at him, his mounting frustration apparent. "You're not, you idiot. God. Why...you're always so fucking..."
"Considerate? Thoughtful? Respectful of people's relationships and lives?"
"He's gonna ask Evans to marry him!" Sirius blabs. Remus gawps. "And...he wants to be Captain Potter for her. Stay out of the front lines as much, you know? Call the shots instead of running into the building." Sirius falls quiet for a few seconds and the angry moment between them dissipates. "He wants this. I want this for him. I want this for us."
"...And, if I stay where I am, we won't be able to keep seeing each other because you'll be my superior officer," Remus realizes, subdued.
Sirius nods and twirls a lock of his long hair nervously around his finger. "And I...I don't want that. I can't... I can't, Remus-"
Remus embraces him tightly, tucking his nose into Sirius's hair with a deep inhale. "You won't. I can't either. Let's do it. Climb the stupid ladder. I'm not ready to give you up." He pulls back to kiss Sirius, long and slow and heartbreaking, because they'll gain this, but Sirius is still losing something, saying goodbye. "Don't think I'll ever be."

Nice Ask Week! I have 2 questions for you. First, what is your favorite episode of 911 Lone Star and why?
Second, you get 2 free front row tickets to see the band/artist of your choice. The only catch is that you have to give the second ticket to a Lone Star character. Which character are you taking with you to the concert and who are you going to see?
Hi! I ended up going through four days of family issues, but mainly needed to consider my answers. So, I’m sorry I took a bit to respond! I’m not quite as familiar with the characters and their personalities as I’d like to be but I’m always interested in hearing the headcanons the fandom comes up with for the 126.
Favorite episode… hm. I haven’t narrowed it down to just one yet, but I do have let’s say one per season. Season 1, I can def confirm is 1x05 (highlights were TK and Mateo victory roasting/ dancing, the good parts of Paul’s bowling date, and the hot loads of bull stuff. Poor Judd 😅). Season 2 was 2x14 for the probie’s moment— if you know you know (but I gotta say Billy got more shat-on than he deserved at the end). Underrated, I know— Season 3 is a little more conventional for me with 3x15. (I always find myself spluttering and half-laughing-half-sympathizing at and with Carlos’ lizard hell and TK being like “tfw I be more in over my head than I thought I was”). For Season 4, it’s easy and hard for the roller coaster it was (both good and bad ways) because of the mixed bag of story arcs… but I would probably say 4x14. For the understandable shortcomings of the Kendra arc, I loved the Strickland Sense (tm?) taking point and Gabriel being the voice of reason.
As for bands… god tbh I’m generally go-with-the-flow on live bands/ artists since I haven’t gone to see many concerts. Plus, I can be better at adapting in groups than really speaking up and contributing. Besides, some of the ones I can think of (Postmodern Jukebox, Jake Shimabukuro, maybe the odd tribute concert or indie artist/ band) are kinda boring for the 126 characters. (But I was pleasantly surprised to hear Iz Kamakawiwo’ole! On-brand and Hawai’i touch— mahalo for the shoutout, sound/ production crew!)

Watching the episode where McGee kills the undercover cop and I just want to hug poor Probie.
Also, Gibbs in full daddy bear mode.
