While finding you while exploring the orphanage his first thought was to take you as a meal, he wanted to let you “grow” so there would be more to “eat off of.”

But soon days became weeks and the 9-foot (just guessing) musty, stale, fatass Cat got attached to you. And he hates it himself. So to keep it away from you, he accused and insulted you when he had the chance.

Saying shit like “No. No. now I understand why they fired you, you're a complete moron.” And “You’re the one who set the red-headed bastard free weren't you.”

Don’t worry, he does have nice nicknames for you like “Doll”, “Child”, or even “Mouse”

Like DogDay, he keeps you hidden in one of the hundred rooms in the orphanage. When you tried to escape, he destroyed everything in his path to capture you again, locking you up and keeping entities in the hallways so you wouldn't try to leave. “It's not my cup of tea to play hide and seek with you. Child."

Though when not locked in the room he carries you on his back, using his height to keep you from jumping off, though you could always risk breaking a leg and being locked back up in your room.

“It's kind of pathetic…to know that you're the merely thing left in this dungeon of untruths and gore…”

Post!Hour of Joy Catnap x Reader HCs:

Genre: Fluff!!!!!!

AN: really short thingy I did, cant get the catnap brainrot outta my head, based him off a house cat a tad bit too much

☾ Catnap took some time to get used to you. And a lot of sweets— but in the end it all seemed to work out!

☾ The first few days, Catnap would stalk around the playroom to avoid the kids running about just so he could see what you were up to!

☾ Kickin and Hoppy would always spot him and pull him back into the play area every time he got caught.

☾ Catnap is not the one to give up easily and would sneak out during recess time and leave little trinkets on your desk

☾ Ever since you taught him how to be more social, he and the kids that would go to Playcare grew to become very close and would help him do tasks that require smaller hands, like folding paper or coloring with crayons.

☾ It's a miracle how he was able to find your quarters in this massive establishment.

☾ The first time it happened you saw a little purple paper cat with a tiny moon charm on it's chest. Hmm, you wonder who this came from.

☾ The next time you saw Catnap you didn't forget to give him a head scritch and a cheery "Thank you!"

☾ Catnap then on would find ways to sneak handcrafted toys into your office.

☾ Congrats, you're now his favorite person in the whole world!!! Till this day the little paper cat still stands on your desk.

☾ Catnap would always draw you every time there were arts and crafts activities in the playcare.

☾ Catnap doesn't know how Craftycorn works her magic with those hooves of hers, but the least he could do is draw a messy stickman of you. And what do you know, you adored his drawing! And now it's hung on a little frame in your room!

☾ Catnap, after you'd visit him around working hours his mood would noticeably get more lively... So lively in fact that he dashes all over the room like those house cats getting the zoomies. Dogday's in awe at how fast his sleepy buddy was. Hey, if the kids are having fun then he guesses it's fine!

☾ Despite Catnap's distorted voice box you never really minded how brief his answers were.

"You want to eat?" you chuckled. Lowering the box you were carrying to meet his gaze.

"No." he spoke, staring at you with his dotted white pupils.

"Uhm... Need something from me?" you asked curiously. You wondered what he wanted.

"...No..." He spoke again.

"You're just here to bug me, are you?" you huffed, a small smile etched on your face as you stared up the purple cat.

"..." His long tail twirled deviously.

You raise your brow at him with your arms crossed over your chest.

"Yes."

☾ The other smiling critters seem to like this side of the purple cat too! But what they don't enjoy is how loud his purring gets whenever he naps.

☾ Catnap likes to laze in your office at night. He often curls himself around your desk chair as you work. His soft purple fur a great insulator against the cold room.

☾ Catnap tends to be more active at night, hence the reason he's always scratching your bedpost. On some occasions, he'd even stretch like a cat.

☾ You made sure that after you'd finished all your paperwork you would snuggle up with him on the floor since he was a tad too big for the bed Play Co. provided for you.

☾ He hoped things would never change.

i personally think that because The prototype pose more experience then the others, because he has lived longer than all the others, he has learned and listened to more ways to be freindly to that of his kind. and I think the reason why she trapped copy of the test was because she wanted to protect her, it may have seemed brutal, but it was better than letting Poppy die and not sealing her away. though, I think he at some point forgot about poppy, leaving her in the case for far too long.

This. Is SO incredibly tragic and sad. Oh my God...

I imagine both Poppy and Prototype to have been, at heart, pacifists. If we go with the theory that he is or at least partially is Elliot Ludwig, and that Poppy was his adopted daughter, it becomes very easy to believe Prototype knew Poppy would try to stop the Hour of Joy, and, in an attempt to protect her life, locked her away in the Poppy Room.

I don't think the forgot about her! I think her being left there was an intentional choice from Mr. "All I Want Is To See A Child Be Happy". If she was still able to make allies and call the Angel for help even when still on the case/her room, I have no doubts she would have most likely being killed if she was outside while attempting to raise a toy rebellion. Poppy is a very small doll and is easily kidnapped by Long Legs in the beginning of chapter 2, and cannot do much except crawl around the vents. She's very smart and seems to be very capable of pulling some tricks to not be captured by other toys if she was left to survive on her own, but there's only so much a doll like her can do.

Also – the fact she was in that case for that long without starving may say a lot about her. Assuming she really can't starve, Poppy may not understand just how awful and torturing hunger is. She wants the carnage to stop, yes, and she has allies despite everything, yes, but Poppy outside the case would be better off speaking to a wall if she ever tried to convince the other toys to go against the Prototype and the ecosystem born inside the factory. Everyone is slowly starving and the Prototype is the guy who's helping them get some food, as seen by Project Playtime. Poppy is the pacifist that so far didnt make any plans on how to help others deal with their hunger.

So the Prototype seals his first – and presumably only – daughter away. Because if he doesn't, she'll die. Because she's like him and she doesn't want the carnage to continue. He raised her too well, and he raised her to be kind, and she will try to be just like that, and this will kill her if it goes on like this. She may despise him, but for the Prototype, it's better for Poppy to be alive to hate him than to be dead.

Anyways. Being a girldad sure is hard uh.

Smiling Critters Scents

Okay, so From my Poppy playtime AU, I mentioned how the toy prototypes of CatNap and DogDay smelled like Lavender and Vanilla. DogDay is the only one that canonically emits a smell, and I thought that their first designs, hints to the 'prototype' label, were like that and here is what I imagine each character smells like and why.

DogDay = Vanilla (cannon)

CatNap = Lavender (because it helps you sleep, the natural 'red gas' if you will)

CraftyCorn = Cotton Candy (idk why, her hair reminds me of it so thats the only reason why)

PickyPiggy = Birthday Cake (because her thing is food and I remember hearing that PinkiePie from My Little Pony smells like birthday cake and since their themes are both kinda food related I decided why not)

Bobby Bearhug = Strawberries (Strawberries are kinda heart shaped, and thats her locket-shape-thingy and because strawberries are common to give to someone you are about on valentines day, at least it is where I live)

Bubba Bubbaphant = Cool Breeze or the 'ocean' (just the classical smelly-good flavors that you get for your house, I had a few teachers in the past use it in the classroom so, yeah... idk how else to explain that)

KickenChicken = Banana (more specifically, the banana flavored laffytaffy smell because its a liked smell where I'm from and they both are that annoyingly bright yellow color)

Hoppy Hopscotch = Green Apples (this is based off of the first time I met a bunny in real life, there was an artificial green apple smell in the air and sometimes my brain thinks I smell it whenever I see a bunny, idk why my brain does that it just does)

PickyPiggy was the hardest to choose a smell for, since she is about food and I spent an hour trying to come up with what she would smell like. I only decided on it because I was scrolling through the channels on tv and came by My Little Pony and remembered the whole PinkiePie thing.

What do you guys think? Let me know if you come up with some better ideas.

well it's still technically about Catnap and Dogday but it's primarily about KickinChickin-

I have a headcanon that KickinChickin was a bully when he was younger but he was one of those bullies that sucked at bullying, he was also friends with Hoppy at the time as well who just let Kickin do whatever because she knew he was gonna get his ass beat one of these days.

the only reason why he stopped bullying was because he tried his stupid shit with Dogday one day (who he did not know at the time, have to clarify.) and got his ass beat by Catnap.

Having found you while you were exploring, he felt this deep down in his heart...A feeling that he hadn't experienced for a long time. In order to cling on to that last bit of humanity in him, he kept you...

He made sure no other entity, even if they were trustworthy, would get near you, keeping you in his arms and carrying you in his arms like a doll at all times, he did make sure you scavage around for anything to keep you healthy and alive, food, water, blankets, etc.

Dogday gave you names like “angel”, “dolly”, or even most commonly “Human.” Weirdly enough…

As much as you whined and fought he didn’t let you get deeper into the factory, insect he kept a nest like room for you in the orphanage…it was filled with everything needed to survive, blankets, stuffed animals, him, food, you get the idea.

You don’t get to far without him running after you like a German shepherd looking for drugs. If you did manage to get far, than after catching you finally he’d make sure you didn’t leave the room for a long time.

Other times when you did get along with him, he’d let you use his chest as a mattress, the dog in his normal form stands at around 8 feet. And (hopefully) full of pure Cotten.

The order I think the smiling critters died in. I try to give a reason for most of them but some of these are just vibes.

Hoppy hopscotch: 100% would be the first one to cause trouble. She would try overthrow catnap maybe with some of the older kids. Gets absolutely rocked.

KickinChicken: probably Locked in a freezer or something with Crafty, Bubba, and Picky. At least if the Picky's cut out is to be believed. Seen as a threat because of his bravado. Gave him self up to be eaten, or froze to death first.

Bubba Bubbaphant: Got thrown in the freezer as well. Was planning to get rid of catnap through some trap or something. Don't know how candy outlasted him, died while trying to escape? Maybe a box fell on him.

Craftycorn: In the freezer. Maybe was helping bubba with is plan, making sketches. I feel like she could of been second last if she didn't get caught. Was cannibalized by Picky Piggy.

Picky Piggy: Wasn't much of a threat but catnap knew he couldn't stand being hungry. Slowly starved to death, regretting his actions.

Bobby bearhug: She talks about being alone in her cutout. Maybe lived after dogday got kidnapped. The reason she lived so long was catnap didn't see her a threat, or she ran away.

Dogday: Catnap has a thing for him that how he lived so long. Definitely tried to convince catnap to change constantly. Never gave up, he was the leader after all.

Catnap: bros alive till we change that.

If the Picky Piggy cutout didn't exist that this would of been a more interesting. Maybe I'll do that later.

Probably since this fandom has been the only thing I thought about since ch3 released

I believe that Playtime CO. not only turned the orphans into toys, but a good chunk of the workers too. But that's a common headcannon, is it not?

I think depending on the toy, either a child or an employee would be used. And maybe, even sometimes, an already turned toy would request a certain employee or orphan to become a "new friend"
