long winded ass post I contemplated not writing but did it anyways. read if you’d like or ignore lmao.

so I feel as though this kind of goes without saying but a lot has changed on tumblr and the vibe has shifted a lot, sadly, not for the better either :/ I thought about this for a while and although last week, I was not posting any new content due to the strike, I’ve decided to step away from writing in general after this month. I could sit here and go on a tangent about how it’s the ‘algorithm’ and ‘dying fandoms’ but to me, this boils down to the fact that I refuse to exhaust myself to be unappreciated + disrespected. That’s not to say I’m ungrateful to everyone who reblogs and comments on my works all the time because I am incredibly grateful! I love each of you and I look forward to reading your tags/thoughts. However, it’s not lost on me that the anime fandom in general is becoming shrouded in toxicity and many of us are being pushed away. We’re in an age where people are seen as content machines and not humans so others feel entitled to their art and feel no need to be kind, understanding or empathetic to that person’s feelings. I’m not wasting my time trying to teach people manners that they should’ve learned a long time ago. I refuse to share my craft with people like that. And to say the quietest part out loud: y’all don’t want black writers around, PERIOD. One scroll through the dash shows that much. As someone who’s written primarily for AOT (not changing btw) and specifically the black side of the fandom, it’s almost laughable at the extreme lengths that ppl have gone through to see it be erased. And I don’t mean getting fics hit with labels or reporting (that failed so they switched to plan B.) since I began back writing in 2020-21, it was obvious that it was the most popular among black girls and I remember ppl telling me to write for them. Hell, it’s the sole reason I even watched. Needless to say, I fell in love with the show and it holds a special place in my heart. However, I realized I didn’t need any of the original material. Not only that, in all the years I’ve been writing, it’s the first time I’ve seen so many black girls resonating and happy with a group of characters. It was the first and only time I’ve seen stories where I didn’t feel as though them being a black character was a hidden secret or toned down to appeal to others (no shade). It was in my face and proud, even if I didn’t personally resonate with the reader or concept of the story. It still felt good coming from a fandom where I was literally the ONLY black writer in it. Fast forward and I clearly see that now, it’s not welcomed. We could sit here and blame it on non-blk (yt) having the problems but that’s a load of bullshit and the only enemies we have are one another. It’s been other black writers who have littered the tags with discourse abt the same stupid topic to avoid new fics being seen. It’s been other black writers who have switched fandoms when they were no longer the ONLY ones bc coexisting is just too damn hard apparently. It’s been other black authors who have made it blatantly clear that they are only interested in seeing and creating stories that are palatable to other races so they won’t be perceived in a negative light or to be seen as one of the ‘good ones’. Even down to not using black reader tags or avoiding coded language. So much so, they are comfortable laughing at anti-black rhetoric being pushed on other apps so as long as their new favs are not the brunt of the joke.

I’m not here to tell anybody how or what to write. I’m not here to say you ONLY have to like one show but what I am saying is that i will NOT be spending hours and days agonizing over a fic for it to be minimized to a joke for a bitch on TikTok. I will not spend the little free time I have trying to crunch and finish a fic for it not do well but watch y’all pile in my mentions to argue over nonsense. And I won’t sit here and watch y’all purposely try to run other black writers away bc they don’t fit ur aesthetic. Fiction is fiction and whether you resonate with it or not, it’s expression. I’m a boring ass country bumpkin from the middle of nowhere, Florida who’s got social anxiety, chronically ill, neurodivergent and is in bed by 10:00. I don’t smoke, never had sex and I literally never leave the house unless I’m grocery shopping. I never have and never will live the life of any of my characters, even the most tame ones. But I write for EVERY black girl and want everyone of them to be seen. The one space where that seems to be allowed is obviously not welcomed anymore. Arguing and trying to defend ourselves against people who are committed to misunderstanding us is pointless. Minimizing us down to ‘baby mama’, ‘hoodrat’ fics, simply bc you no longer like certain characters (many of which you all were writing for not too long ago) is quite frankly clown and coon ass behavior. Watching y’all become enraged by tropes that are used by ever race, every fandom, etc but turning the blind eye bc it suits ur narrative is fucking hypocritical and laughable at best.

I’m not insecure in my writing. Never have been and never will be. I know I pour everything I have into creating the best work I can and it’s for that reason that I won’t allow it to be treated like trash. I have over 250 drafts in my Google docs and best believe, that’s where they’ll stay until I see fit. Although I know it’ll probably mean leaving the last place I have any sense of community and social interaction in general, it’s not worth coming on here angry everyday in defense mode. Its not worth getting out of my character over and I rather just not be around if it means I have to play mean girl. My mind may change and all of this will just have been me getting shit off my chest but as of right now, this account will be archived come February 28th. So, why do you (and any commenters) dislike Kaia? I’ll go first! 😂

I’m in the industry and not only is she maybe the worst actress I’ve seen in a long time (let alone in high profile shows and movies-yikes!) but I honestly don’t think she’s even a good model. She has model good looks- like no matter how much she bugs me I’m not going to be a hater and act like she isn’t beautiful bc she truly is. Occasionally she has some interesting photographs but this new set for Marc Jacob’s Daisy is absolute amateur hour! (Google them if you don’t know bc I don’t know how to send them in anons- she’s in a sparkly black dress, looking happy/ derpy, and doing modeling 101 poses that basic girls who think they’re models do bc it’s cliche and not what actual seasoned working models do.) It’s so cringe and I’m honestly embarrassed for her. I’ve seen her do better, but half the time the poses are “meh” and/or the eyes are totally dead. Her walk is chaotic but many ppl disagree with me there. But like, she’s the worst nepo baby in my mind bc she truly lacks talent, a personality, and an IT factor.

I don’t know her personally and sometimes she seems nice enough, but there’s a coldness to her and she feels kind of try hard (trying to be older than she is, acting like she has lived this life where she’s learned lessons but never actually gets vulnerable and shares things worth sharing, and tries to be intellectual with soft reads when it’s like…girl just go to college?). She’s just… off. Maybe at 30 she’ll be cool (I really try not to hate or root against but again, she bugs me, but I’m trying to use my words versus being emotional) but she’s beyond hard to take seriously at this moment. And I’m sorry but hers and Austin’s body language is weird AF. Her fans are so young so they don’t see any of what I’m ( or what you) talk about.

Anyway, I’m just a frustrated girlie in the industry who can’t get arrested and am fine with nepo babies if they’re talented but Kaia truly isn’t. I don’t think she’d have a career if she couldn’t afford a good publicist so it feels like double cheating to win the race (opportunities plus PR). Then I looked into her more and again, something is just…OFF.

But when and why did you not care for her? I’m curious about how similar or not similar my experience was to other people. as for when i started noticing, she really flew under the radar for me for a little while. i became a fan back in July of last year after seeing the movie. and i didn't have a lot to think about the relationship with Austin at that time aside from shes way too young for him. I wasn't researching anything at that point and i was more concerned with learning about Austin, getting to know him and getting absorbed in that content. I think it was sometime around maybe early fall that controversies about the relationship were spreading online. most notably it was the talk of their massive cringe worthy age gap where they got together before she could legally drink AND she was cool with his ex Vanessa in the past, but also as more pap photos came out I just began to notice the obvious signs that Austin was not really "there" or present or happy to be alongside Kaia. so i researched and all of that. then around the filming of bikeriders i had solidified 100% my stance on it with the clear signs of there being rumors of a breakup and the strange PR bullshit surrounding this couple henceforth. and here i am now.

but that's kind of the short answer lol. i'm used to being used as a dartboard for these idiot shippers to throw darts at because im not afraid to be vocal. so i hope that those of us here that feel the same way can have a platform to speak up. because listen, kaia ain't it and that man looks chronically dead when seen with her. so those that don't agree with my (or our, since there are so many of us that think this way) opinion then they can stuff it.

I'm Ukrainian and it's really importent and valuable for me to see that there is someone who UNDERSTANDS. It's so painful to see how tumblr-people interact with russians as usual, support them. paing commisions ( which literally pays for the bombs that destroy the houses of peaceful Ukrainians). Even if they know about all russian war crimes, gen*cide, crimes after chirldren, bombing of hospices, orphanages and hospitals they still chit-chat with russians, comforting them and paying money (I tell myself that not everyone realizes that this money will go to the taxes with which russia buys weapons, but...). I'm not very active in fandoms right now because I'm following what's happening in your country most of the time, and I'm not active on my personal blog where I was a lot, reblogging Ukraine content, because I'm reading and learning. Because my country, Italy, compared to the rest of Europe is the shamefully ideologically closest to that terrorist stateand I'm constantly discovering new propaganda bullshit that I'm trying to explain to those close to me.

I'll tell you a few things about myself and why for me it's so important, for a bit of context, cause I don't want to appear like the western person making everything about her but it is about me in a way, because on 24/2/2022 I received a very bad news and I was devastated. Only seeing what was happening in your country, all those ppl escaping with their pets, put it into perspective, like, no matter what happens to me no enemy is entering my country with tanks, forcing me to leave my home. And because Ukraine for me represents an awakening to the truth, as I was a victim of ruZzian propaganda like most in my country. You know better than me how western ppl think communism is an edgy cool thing, I was not different, I was raised this way, thinking that ussr was a country of equality where everything worked, unlike evil west...that even if stalin was bad, capitalist america was worse and ofc n*zi and f*scism were worse. Actually we are taught in schools that f*scism was horrible (ofc it's true) and communism was the opposite, so it was good. So when I showed my girlfriend, from Moldova, some historical f*scist monument she commented that it had the same vibe as communist ones in her country and I had a cognitive dissonance because wtf? even if she told me things I wasn't 100% convinced, like maybe communism was applied badly in ussr but in cuba it was good. the same cuba where they don't have basic medicines but ok lol. that was italian mentality.

Before rashists invaded Ukraine my girlfriend warned me, she was following the news (she's a russian speaking person, but she supports Ukraine 200%, she is half Ukrainian but her parents are brainwashed zombies so she didn't even tell them about our relationship) I thought it was impossible that in Europe a state invaded another...then it happened. I immediately took Ukraine side, because it's the only possible side to take, and because I was taught what it's like to live under occupation, as my country of idiot assholes during ww2 was first allied with n*zis then f*scist government was overthrown by partisans so we were invaded by n*zis too. So for me it was crazy that our media didn't recognize that Ukraine was living the same hell our grandparents lived, that our novels wrote about. And still they don't. Because they are paid by the terrorist rashist hellhole of a country, that brainwashed its ppl and the rest of the world, taking advantage of our freedom of expression to spread fake news and bullshit, making ppl believe novax and protrump and other crazy movements first, then making them insensitive to what they were doing in Ukraine. It's so crazy I hate it so much....ppl I thought were clever, even favourite singers, support ruZZia indirectly, claiming they're pacifists, against sending weapons to Ukraine, because weapons are bad...like, how stupid can you be to actually believe that war will stop if you don't arm the invaded country instead of the aggressor? They are the ones who should be stopped omg, but ppl believe the nuclear threat, I don't even believe they have functioning nukes, as shitty and corrupted as they are, they're just good at stealing toilets...but they're good at paying foreign countries to spread lies. that's their biggest ability, and I hate lies more than anything...and all the automatic replies you receive when you try to debunk that shit.

First of all not everyone is invested emotionally in all wars...a person living in Africa or Asia will naturally be more involved in a war happening not far from them...or, a person can just feel closer to a country than to another. it's just a way to make ppl feel guilty of being in Europe, preventing them from sending help to Ukraine as they should care about others too. Germans aknowledged it and took measures to educate themselves into civilized ppl, they should do the same. After they go back to their country, after they give back ALL territories they took from 2014, after they pay all damages (as if it's possible to pay for lives destroyed).

Meanwhile those who are 'ok' should step back from the spotlight of playing victims, just like those who are sooooo into russian culture should stop whining to not cancel it because it should be until they make things right, whole Ukrainian cilture should be highlighted instead, and also the culture of countries like Georgia, Moldova, Syria, and all those that were invaded by urss. Well it's nice that you've never seen the tag in a non-joking manner but I can't say the same is true for me. Running a blog where even a few posts leave your normal network will basically guarantee you exposure to pockets of people on this site that you previously had no idea even existed, and those people have no problem tagging and commenting all sorts of bullshit.

I do distinguish joking "I hate this" tags and "I genuinely think it's horrible" tags. I really only block people over this if it has to do with something cultural/China specific/man-made which the post was specifically showcasing.

For example, a few people have tagged the sea hare video from the other day with "kill it with fire" type comments but I'm unlikely to block them over it because even though I might think it's bizarre that they would reblog something they think is gross, I recognise that some people just react that way to animals.

actually, i'd forgotten something recently relevant which is that back when i had v little following, i'd created n posted the following edit of a familiar meme:

i'd uploaded it to exactly one place, n a few days later i saw a mutual reblog it onto my dash n was like "whoa that has a lot more notes than i'd realized" (upwards of 500 which was one of the first few times i'd ever experienced that). and then i saw that it wasn't mine.

it's just a meme right? anybody can do that. effectively anyone who can access the meme can easily edit out some words like i did. okay, so then fucking do it, bc taking the work of someone that u obviously must think is worth sharing n then euploading it to take the credit/notes instead of sharing from the blog that brought it to the community is disgusting imo.

so i left a p tame comment n offered them the gimp files too and included a link to the original. given how established that blogger was, i expected at least some response, whether it be an apology or deflection or smth else, but i never got one.

however, i'm remembering now that the blogger i'm talking abt happens to be close w at least one of the ppl who's been distorting as well as talking straight bullshit abt me :)

i'm not likely to call anyone out publicly for this kind of thing (at least not for my own content) again any time soon. it's not worth it. it seems there r plenty of ppl r quite happy to slander someone's reputation in the most hideous, potentially life-ruining ways without regard for reality over a few hundred notes, n the risk to reward ratio is simply not worth it to me.

Hey so I'm just getting into the Fandom and the social media side of it. I was wondering if it's not too much to ask why exactly do ppl not like grace? Grace, who interacts a lot with her fans, instead of addressing the problem and asking to her fans to stop, posted a selfie of her, smiling, wearing a shirt that said "hating me won't make you pretty" or something like that.

That fan was attacked because Grace posted about having read that comment, playing the victim so her fans felt entitled to harass this person.

She also used to start drama with Joe stan, making a post like "I know his star sign and you don't" which is very immature. That same day she saw my post where I mistook her birthday by 2 months and without even reading the rest of my post, she reblogged it being all pissy about it and guess what? I started to get a lot of hate as well 💀

I saw someone reblog an old post about Itasasu, with a comment even, showing that they were really interested in what I wrote years ago, but all I could think about was that they reblogged it from the person who acted like a creep, with the pretext of Itasasu roleplay and shipping, pulling an Itachi, so to speak, acting ‘protective’ with me but in fact isolating me from the online friends I had back then (I was really active), using my weaknesses  (that I told her because I kinda trusted her in the beginning) to destroy the little self esteem I had, and making me doubt every single word I wrote, about myself, about Itasasu and more. So that post this person reposted has an ‘introduction’ where I point out that said creep made me notice mistakes, I even thanked her for this, and it was such a manipulation cause I remember the drama she started whenever I did things she didn’t approve, apparently related to my interpretation of Itasasu with an Itachi that wasn’t 100% a good person, and in reality related to the fact that I wrote essays and meta and stuff that had a lot of visibility back then, which she didn’t have.

My posts in that creep’s blog remain even if I should delete my blog, so I can’t do anything. Anyway, if my followers and those who stumble upon this post, see meta, asks, essays in other ppl’s blogs, where I’m the OP, they might open said post in my blog, and see if it’s different, cause after I cut all contacts with that creep I removed all the forced bullshit I wrote to please her. Just in case someone is interested.

keep getting comments like, "well what about the harassment jas is getting," bro I literally received murder threats + was doxxed on this site & staff told me to turn off my inbox + replies and block my way out of it, and that even after having family members threatened w the (luckily inept) doxxing, they weren't even going to remove posts w any personally identifying information until/unless the person threatening me posted phone numbers.

like that guy's sideblog that he made specifically to threaten & doxx me IS still up, and the info he put on there is inaccurate + now out of date, but except for the one post where he put every phone number associated w my (v common lol) last name in my old city of residence, those posts are still up, too.

my page has been deactivated twice for no reason, and after nonstop emails about it, I was able to get it restored both times. but that never happened to someone who said he was going to have me shot & raped. and even the little bit staff did in my defense? took weeks.
