This rare 1901 postcard was issued to commemorate the opening of the Prinzregententheater in Munich. Here is an illustration from Richard Wagner's "Tannhäuser". The best voices of that time sang: Milka Ternina, Fritz Feinhals, Berta Morena, Heinrich Knote. The director at the time was Ernst von Possart. A nice document.

About last weekend
⚠️ Warning: This going to be a long one
Cold. It was first and foremost very cold.
But very, very pretty, because it snowed (and I’m proud to say that I did not slip on the ice that covered the side walks. I did expect to go home covered in bruises.)
besides that, the travel to Munich was… chaotic to say the least. Most trains did not arrive (or leave) on time, that is, if they showed up at all. And even then… my train from Frankfurt did show up, but we were only allowed onto half of the train. Obviously this meant that there wasn’t enough space for everyone and the train was then cancelled. Sooo, I had to take the next one, which was late and very, very crowded, but at least had heating, which is all I wished for at that point because I had been standing in the cold for about 3 hours. By the time I was warm again, I had to get off the train to take a different one that would actually take me to Munich. On said train I encountered several people who reminded me, that I could be very grateful that while I might be cold, at least I was on the right train. One guy had started his day in Tel Aviv, where his flight was delayed, and he missed his train in Germany. Another one had wanted to go to Mönchengladbach but somehow only realized he was on the wrong train shortly before we reached Nürnberg. And the third was a kid that took the wrong train after school and somehow ended up in Bavaria instead of North Rhine-Westphalia, where he lives. It was wild.  2/10
Somehow, I still made it to Munich in time to go to the theatre and watch a performance of Dickens’ Christmas Carol at the Amerikahaus. It was amazing. Very funny and entertaining, while also being heartbreaking at times. 10/10.
Cue to us, (@str4wanzerin) and me, walking back to her place to meet up with @eolewyn1010 to grab something to eat. Very tasty 9/10
Saturday started off great! We went vinyl shopping. Or I shopped for vinyls and my friends accompanied me (thanks for all the patience, while I was looking at… everything). I ended up with one vinyl I had been looking for, and one that I did not expect to buy, but was played in the shop and my brain told me: This one. I want this one. (Amazing decision, I had a nice chat with the owner of the shop and have been listening to it on repeat the past few days) 12/10
Next, we visited the Christmas market (very pretty) and got some crêpes (very tasty) 9/10
Finally, we wound up at the Prinzregententheater, where we met @carlomenzinger and of course watched our amazing boys, Udo and Miro, perform “A Christmas Carol”. Which… mind blown. Miro definitely surprised me with how well he read and performed his part (who knew he could still dance and jump like that? Also, he was very cute overall), and Udo managed to exceed my already high expectations. Him reading Jacob Marley very nearly gave me a heart attack (how deep can he make his voice sound??), while I’m pretty sure that his performance of Scrooge's little sister gave me some type of diabetes.  1000/10
Had some nice food again and talked all kinds of crazy fandom stuff 10/10
Stood in the cold for a bit, but met Miro, who despite having a cab waiting for him and being tired from performing, signed all of our stuff and was so, so nice. He’s just as sweet in person, as he seems to be in interviews. Did not meet Udo, but there will be other opportunities, I’m sure. 100/10
On Sunday, @str4wanzerin and I had a nice walk in the snow, looked at some architecture and went to another Christmas market (which lead to a new fanfic idea being born) before I headed home. Miraculously, everything went fine on my way back. No delays, no nothing.
Oh, and my collection of things expanded a bit (thanks for the cup, the autographs, and the vinyls!). Behold my Tatort shrine:

Benjamin Appl: The Artist And The Teacher
Benjamin Appl: The Artist And The Teacher
Benjamin Appl at the Prinzregententheater Munich in 2020 (Photo courtesy of the artist) After a two-year postponement due to COVID-19, the appearance of baritone Benjamin Appl at the 2022 Toronto Summer Music Festival (TSMF) was finally a reality. But, before we got to hear him in Toronto, there was a totally unexpected twist. Shortly after he landed and on extremely short notice, he graciously…

I love Munich so much and this is a big honor to perform in Prinzregenteatre. I’m very proud of this project. Already feeling a little bit sad because today’s the last show in this season. So, 1,5 hour of sand painting, 1200 people audience - let’s rock 🌸 #sandmalereishowhamburg #sandshowspain #prinzregententheater #munich #münchen #svetlanatelbukh #telbukh #sandart #sand #sandshow #sandperformance #sandpaintings #sandkünstler #künstler #sandpainting #sandpainter #sandartshow #sandvideo #sandartist #sandartists #sandmalerei #veränglichekunst #sandmalereishow #тельбух #светланательбух #svitlanatelbukh #svetlanashow (at Prinzregententheater) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvq-35FArFB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=bwliwriw9ji7
