A goodbye
After almost 12 (!) years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this blog. It will not be deleted though.
Here’s a (pretty rough and I’m sure not full) list of skaters featured here. They’re listed in alphabetical order by the first name (so “Ashley Wagner” is under “A” and not “W”). I know it’s not the correct way to do this thing but it was easier for me. Also, if you can’t find someone, try searching within the blog or just general Tumblr search.
Thank you for the company and bye!

Making our way through the AFI Top 100 Movies of all time.
This week is all about Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Listen to how Kalem and Rachael find themselves surprised how this very patriotic American non traditional movie musical about Yankee Doodle Dandy himself George M Cohen was actually a really pleasant watch despite some of its controversial scenes.

Song Review: Rachael Sage and Howard Jones - "I Made a Case"
In July 2023, Rachael Sage released the song, “I Made a Case,” which features backup vocals by Howard Jones. Rachael has toured with Howard in recent years, and he offered to contribute his vocals to this song. “I Made a Case” was co-written by Nashville songwriter Jeff Cohen. Musically, the song is piano-based, but also includes strings and the occasional horns. It starts with just the piano and…

THE ART OF L.A. CHIPTUNE/BITPOP.
NOTE: Caught this group back in 2014, as they were hot on the heels of their "Heart on Wave" release, and I've never forgotten about them. I bought the "Heart..." button after the show and still wear it to this day.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on the mostly digital "sleeve art" (covers art) of various releases by L.A. chiptune/bitpop/indie rock band SLIME GIRLS (2012-2020). Artwork by various artists (six different one's, actually).
Releases include, staring from the top, and then left to right:
"Heart On Wave" (2014)
"Vacation Wasteland" EP (2012)
"Baby Baby" (2017)
"Don't Forget" (2016)
"Yumemi/Lonely Planet Girl" (2015)
"Space Hyperbeam--Cutie" sticker design (undated)
Artists include, once again, from the top and then left to right: Rachael Cohen, "Vacation..." artist unknown, Punimelt, Chu Nap, OMOCAT, and Cassandra Freire.

Tiger Strikes Satellite November 29 - December 4, 2022 SATELLITE ART SHOW Indian Beach Park | 4601 Collins Avenue | Miami Beach, FL 33140
A little more than two months ago, the NASA DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) mission intentionally slammed a space probe hurtling at 14,000-miles per hour into the asteroid Dimorphos. The kinetic energy of the crash successfully altered the asteroid's orbit. This is the first time humanity has ever changed the trajectory of a celestial object, and the first successful test of full-scale asteroid-deflection technology. Ejected by the impact, a plume of debris and dust yawned out over 6,000 miles, a blue and white trail glittering in the sunlight.
Collisions are productive—moments of transcendence, rift, and unpredictable emergence. TIGER STRIKES SATELLITE draws work from a wild spectrum of practice, all in orbit around the Tiger Strikes Asteroid Network. With locations in Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Greenville, SC, Tiger Strikes Asteroid is a 501c3 non-profit network of independently programmed, artist-run exhibition spaces. Our goal is to collectively bring people together, expand connections, and create community through artist-initiated exhibitions, projects, and curatorial opportunities.

Fat loss since July
So I've been doing HIIT workouts 3x a week and eating comfortably but watching portions since July. I've been doing Fitness Blender's HIIT workouts (around 10-20 mins of HIIT, 20 being the absolute max, and a workout anywhere from 30-38 including the warmup and cool down). Since their workouts are intense, I did take some breaks in between (during the water break + before the cool down). A break of 5-7 mins (give or take).
In terms of eating, I got my invisalign so I can't really snack anymore. I did reduce my portion size compared to how I was eating in April and May. But I did not cut out any foods and I don't count calories or macros. I personally feel the best way to eat is to eat to moderate fullness and to eat based on how you are feeling that week based on your menstrual cycle cravings (day 13 now and I want chocolate and carbs and have been craving them since Monday night). I took this approach from Lyndi Cohen's blog but I have actually done this in the past but wasn't consistent with it. It helps to hear someone else discuss it to and reading her blogpost was a good idea. It will help with eating mindfully and will also help with financially planning how I'm going to spend on snacks when I crave them each week/month/whatever. Also worth noting that my aunt, grandmother, and cousin came to visit so I had days were I would eat out (Starbucks, a local diner, cafes, and a Mexican restaurant).
I am on week 6 of this (HIIT + mindful eating) and I have looked at the mirror at my stomach on Tuesday late afternoon/early evening and noticed I do look slimmer. I do have a slight belly but it is smaller than it was around a month ago. I looked again this morning and have noticed the same (I am on week 3 of my cycle and notice I do get swelling and bloating at this time as I did last evening). But overall I feel flatter. I do have more progress to make but just doing what I'm doing is enough because it's simple yet effective.
I knew that I didn't have to follow restrictive diets or count calories or macros to lose fat. This leads me to believe that food is not the genuine problem and the issue is the lack of exercise. Not that eating out of control helps, but how often do I do that anyways? The issue is being sedentary.
I also knew for a fact that I don't need to walk 10k+ steps often each week and that walking is a very supplemental form of cardio (as is any form of LISS). At the very least for my own body type this is the case. I do work a somewhat active job and am able to get 3-5k steps in but it's nothing drastic.
I also knew that I did not have to lift weights. I don't like weight lifting and prefer doing bodyweight workouts because I want to be able to do interesting and complex poses and strength workouts using my own bodyweight without relying on other weights. This is one reason why I liked Rachael Attard's program.
I also knew that doing bodyweight workouts (not HIIT bodyweight, but repetitive high rep low weight bodyweight) was useless. Just because they burn, does not mean they are effective. I do need something that will make me sweat overall.
Fitness Blender seems to have workouts that have scientific backing, specifically their HIIT workouts. There are many videos on Youtube called "HIIT workouts" but they are not high intensity at all. They just lie in their titles to get views and money.
I'm going to keep it up with the HIIT. I know it is effective and I know for sure and for a fact that I noticed changes in my body compared to last month.
