The Idea
After letting it lay on the counter for a while, I picked up my Spring/Summer RailsToTrails magazine and got stuck on and struck by the inside cover.
With no idea where the C&O Canal Towpath is, a few quick searches revealed it was in reach. We were intrigued and started planning a bike trip! We have only been on one multi-day bike trip which was organized with a support van, so this will be a bit different. We quickly dropped the idea of driving to Washington DC for Mile 0 and will board Amtrak for the journey with bikes in tow. I found some cute bed and breakfast inns along the way, and we will experience one of the canal lock houses one night. After four 50+ mile training rides on recent weekends, we are ready and excited. We even got our rain training in! We got this.
