Sorry but I generally dislike canon ships… the ones that I makeup with zero evidence are so much better. I know that hannibal is like the number one gay (let’s be real, FUJO) show, but I kindaaaa dgaf about Hannigram. Like hannibal is an alright show, and I don’t dislike Hannigram, but I think it’s a bit too canon for my taste…. Also I generally dislike hannibal fanfic since hannibal tends to be so ooc, most people don’t get his characterization right lol.
Like why are laloward and tony soprano X Johnny sack so much more entertaining to me than Hannigram…
hi hello!! I will be predictable :D vettonso? and also maybe sebson?🤭
Hallo Grace!! Aaaahh two of my ultimate favs 🥹
Vettonso:
Okay I think we all know at this point my feelings on vettonso.....My beloved, my favs, my little dolls to play around with, my forever ship, my muse, etc etc. Lmao tho I do agree w you said in your answer to me, that I feel obviously more invested in my AUs of them atp, but that's not to say I don't like the canon! The canon for me is just desperately searching for any footage/pics of them and being peak derangement abt it and making a whole narrative. Yeah I'm very normal about them. Also yeah, i like the ship itself, but I'm not a very romantic person so I think I often care more about the implications and how they relate to each other, and that kinda thing, if that makes sense? I care deeply abt them, but yknow make a lot of AUs, and the most fun I have is often trying to fit their narrative into different environments! One day I'll draw more shippy stuff I swear 🤧🤧 They are just perfect to me :)
Sebson:
One of my first loves 🥹🥹 I still really love them aaaahhh!!!! They're just so soft and fluffy and comforting to me!!! Obligatory Solar Flare mention. But yeah it's hard, just like the other ship above, to articulate my thoughts about them that isn't just screaming. It's just so fun to look at all the content along the years and see how they gravitate towards each other. To me, they're the 21st century blueprint for emotional support rivals 🥹🥹 Also, sending them to superhell for the amount of insane things they've done in public.
The way books are marketed now gives me fucking hives like it’s cool that you can find a romantic comedy where there’s fake dating (which is less fun when it’s characters I have to learn to care about it seems or I read a Bad One) but like I get so frustrated when all I read on a review is “this sapphic romance with xyz and trope trope trope is soooo spicy!” Just say it’s a romantic comedy with sex scenes, half the time they’re bad and awkward I just want lesbian porn that’s done well! And ain’t spiiicy scenes like cool I’d love to see good ones that aren’t written in to be there to say it’s spicy gimmie good porn in the romance novel make me love the characters instead of going oh they tick 3/5 diversity boxes that’s… so cool.
To all writers who post on ao3 and are writing fics that dont have ships and/or aren't focused on romance,
Please, I am BEGGING you, use the GEN category!!
That's literally what its for!!
So MANY times I've gone to a fandom to look for fics, and I don't want to read about ships or be romance focused, and i use the gen category to filter out those fics , but when i search I hardly find any gen fics!
But then I happen across a writer and go check out their other fics and guess what? They have a ton of amazing gen fics!!! But it was only pure luck that i found the author, and if i hadn't, I never would have found their amazing fics!!
And that makes me wonder how many other awesome fics am I missing out on because it doesnt have a category mark or uses the "other" category
Please please, I wanna read your gen fics, help me find them easier by marking the gen category
one of the most interesting forms of yuri to me, whenever I stumble across it, is when the signifiers and structure of the genre (and more broadly the romance genre) are used to craft a story that is genuinely about a non-romantic relationship. I don’t mean romantic friendships (tho those are also good!) but stuff more like a growing relationship between in-laws, or something. familial love, literal or not. it’s still ultimately “yuri,” and you could read it as romantic if you wanted to, but the conclusion isn’t romance.
I wish I could give more than one example (I’ve seen this a few times, but the closest thing I can think of to a second example rn is ani no yome to kurashite imasu, which is wayyyyy too Charged to be this—I mean the stuff with hands alone) but I’ve just read konno kita’s cotton and the degree to which it’s Not romantic but still v much yuri in composition is fascinating to me
i knwo freya was played as a romantic interest but Very Much think that yknow. she was the first person who really knew merlin for who he was And had similar perspective/experiences/fears to him….. like thats creates such a kinship immediately between the two which i feel could absolutely be similar in feel to romance but. like i think if they ran away and lived together near the mountains and lake or whatever they wouldve been happy but i still dont think that wouldvt ended up as romance for either of them
Since realizing I'm aro I've gone through about a billion different phases regarding being neutral about romance, liking romance, hating it etc. And a few months ago ended up at the stopping point of "romance doesn't exist"
7, in reference to the questions designed to make you hate me thing??
I’m just really curious to know, thanks!!
Is there anything you used to like, but now can’t stand?
I honestly can't think of anything for this! I feel like I'm pretty okay with most stuff, or else just fairly indifferent to it and do my best to avoid it? I'm very much somebody who tries just to steer clear of the stuff I don't like, and I think generally I do a pretty good job of that.
One thing I can think of for the REVERSE of this question (something you used to not be able to stand, but now like) is alternate universe fics! For some reason I used to turn my nose up at them a whole bunch when I was younger and first getting into the fandom, and only want to read things set in the canon timeline or universe. But that actually almost reversed for me over the years, and now I actually almost prefer reading creative AUs that switch up the characters circumstances and relationships and such somewhat, particularly for shippier fics.
There's nothing quite like watching a movie on Netflix and thinking "this seems familiar" then realizing that it's based off a wattpad book you read in middle school. Life sure is strange...
