not abigail herself asking about the oc i created just to ship with her lmfao
fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?
two major fears: first, and most important to her character, is the fear of being recognized. either as who she used to be, or even just recognized as someone who puts out a different persona than they really are. usually overcompensates by projecting their more cool/casual persona way more than is healthy, ultimately overstimulating themself and burning out. not a good idea when your job involves so much socializing.
second, fear of heights/flying. has never really traveled, making only the exception when she goes to batsfjord for the climax in aotd. that whole flight there is an absolute nightmare for multiple reasons.
ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?
yknow, this is the kind of question where my default answer should be, the person she killed in klokateer recruitment (linking that story again for reference) , because yeah, she does feel really terrible about that and it's what led to her hiding her true self from others for so long. but it's honestly less so the person that haunts her as much as it is her own cowardice and her old life. not that there was much that really changed before all that, besides just her family and coworkers thinking she's dead. she wasn't close with any of them before, so it's not like a major impact to her life, but there's that lingering guilt that people who were in her life before now aren't in it, or aren't in it in the same way, and she can never be honest about it. (or so she presumes, anyway...)

I cleaned up my test pressing of Talking Heads’ genre-busting classic Fear Of Music this weekend. I don’t play it often for obvious reasons (I actually have a regular first pressing that I typically put on instead), but I wanted to enjoy it, pulled it out and yeah, it was kind of dirty—so I fixed that. On the upper left, you can see the grubby LP; to its right, I went at it with a Hunt brush, which did 70-80% of the work, getting dust out of the grooves, as you can see. Next, it took a bath in a HumminGuru ultrasonic record cleaning machine with a touch of Groovewasher G2 fluid in it, and Bam—you can see the decided improvement on the lower right. The record sounded amazing, particularly on (of all tracks) “Paper”—the ricocheting guitar echos were electrifying and Chris Frantz’s drums were right in the room. Totally worth the effort to clean this one up; it now is in a MoFi sleeve to keep it that way.

Maybe one of the coolest unique things I picked up at the #DJExpo a few weeks. It’s almost a perfect gift for any DJ heading back to school or to simply collect. It had a shirt and record cleaner set too, where’s the thermos? I would tell you where to get it, but the clue is in the photo. #rockandsoulnyc #audiotechnica #lunchbox #recordcleaner #deejaysoul #photosbyignaciosoltero https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ovh0MASdX/?igshid=1myhha1tzkuph
i got a bit carried away so it's under the cut lol
"I thought you were going straight home after work," Devon said, watching as Abigail took a seat at the bar counter. The Mastodon was busier than usual, as quite a few bands had come in to celebrate the announcement of their Grammy nominations. Being so short-staffed as of late, Devon hadn't had the chance to even look over the nominations yet.
"I was," Abigail replied, "but I thought I'd get my own celebratory drink."
"Oh yeah?" They grabbed a bottle of scotch, ready to start mixing Abigail's usual. "Who we celebrating for?"
She rolled her eyes. "Not funny."
"What?" Their face got red. While they'd been seeing Abigail for a little bit, they still had quite a habit of saying the wrong thing. They spilled some scotch on the counter. "Shit." They grabbed the towel out of their pocket.
"Dev—"
"Hey, can we get a refill over here?" someone called.
"One second!" They let out a sigh as they cleaned up their mess. "I haven't gotten a chance to see the nominations, I've been so busy," they explained. "You had the IPA, right?" they asked the shouting patron.
"Devon," Abigail said again, "I got nominated."
"What?"
"I had the fucking lager!" the patron shouted as Abigail repeated, "I got nominated for Producer of the Year."
No longer caring about dealing with any of the other barflies, Devon leaned over the counter, knocking down the remainder of the drink and pressing their lips against Abigail's. "I'm so fucking proud of you," they whispered.
"Devon," Abigail breathed. She leaned back a bit.
"Fuck." They slid off the counter, slinking back to the wall of liquor. "Sorry. I'll make you a new drink, on me."
Cleaning a really grubby record does not make its music any better. I found this remix set of Filter’s late-90s hit, “Take A Picture,” and it was a mess, covered in dust and grime. I brushed out the crud, washed it in the HumminGuru ultrasonic record cleaning machine and it was as good as new. Unfortunately, that’s not saying much. The original song may have been an overt knock-off of U2’s “Bad,” but at least they stole from the best. However, in this wretched set of trance remixes, some DJs essentially took only the title phrase and threw it over throbbing deep synths for over half an hour in total, with no sign of the melody or anything else that made the song appealing. Sparkling clean or not, it’s disappointing garbage.
I picked this gem up for a dollar this morning. The cover had come apart, the record was dirty, and the inner sleeve was missing. There are a lot of surface scratches, but I cleaned the record with a bit of soapy water and record cleaner. I use soapy water in a spray bottle to help break up any oil on the record surface. It is a bit noisy but it sounds quite good. If you like middle of the road pop you will like this album.
