Still in awe that they can adapt a book that has no Jewish caricature imagery in it toward the witch, the imagery was always on what ruined the things that the character once cared so much about, and decide to add blood libel and the most Dahl design witch because they couldn't adapt shit for shit

the sge movie was terrible. let me tell you exactly why i think it sucked
i think they messed up sophie and agatha's friendship. they were never lovey-dovey or "besties for life!" kind of friends. sophie was using agatha as her "good deed" to get into the school for good and evil, and agatha knew this. from this toxic relationship emerged a real friendship, but not really until they got to the school for good and evil. also, one of sophie's main character traits is that she's a shallow bitch who uses everyone to get what she wants (and we love her for that!), but they completely removed that trait when they made her "besties!!" with agatha.
wishing tree?? hello?? let sophie be obsessed with fairytales!! i know they had to do it for the exposition and for the people who've never read the books but they're not doing her character justice.
agatha's personality?? where did it go?? where did my frumpy, grumpy, sarcastic, witchy teenage girl go?? they barely gave her any of her original personality - she wasn't even slightly grumpy until she went to the school for good and evil.
tedros and agatha's relationship. it was so DRAB. the enemies to lovers banter was barely there!
i love sofia wylie... and i have literally no problem with agatha being a POC, i have to admit that sofia wylie is conventionally attractive. agatha is not supposed to be conventionally attractive. she is the opposite of the beauty standard, which is one of the contrasting traits between her and sophie. if they chose an actress who definitely does not fit the beauty standard and had agatha's whole self-realization plotline, it would have fit much better with the story. again this has nothing to do with sofia wylie being POC, so please don't take that the wrong way.
what happened to the swan crests??
why was the school master shown. like the biggest mystery of the first book is the school master. they ruined all the fun by introducing him at the very beginning.
where's sader? where's princess uma? WHERE IS CASTOR AND POLLUX????
the beast?? where's the beast at?
why was sophie punished for talking to an ever... when they were literally in the same dining room... they ruined her whole transition into evilness by having Lesso cut off her hair instead of the beast.
THE RANKINGS. THEY GOT RID OF THE RANKINGS. WE NEVER GOT TO SEE SOPHIE'S "F IS FOR..." OUTFITS.
also Lesso's character was fucked up. they took evelyn sader's plotline and meshed it with hers and it makes me so mad because it takes away from her future relationship with Dovey and it strips her of her character!
WHY WAS DOVEY LIKE THAT.
um where was the circus of talents?? like was that not the biggest thing that happened in the whole book... soman i'm so disappointed in you.
i liked how they did the trial by tale in the movie but i wish they kept the original plotline.
they did my boy yuba so dirty.
also the forest groups was so annoying to watch. i wanted to see sophie and agatha mingle with tedros in the forest.
wtf is this blood magic stuff. did we all collectively forget that entire thing happened in book 5 (or was it book 4? i don't even remember)
they could've made this a 10-episode TV show so easily. they didn't have to get lawrence fishburne or kerry washington or michele yeoh. they could've given smaller actors/actresses a big platform. if each episode was an hour long, we would've gotten much more than we got in this shitty movie. each season could be 1 book. catch my drift? netflix, you know i'm onto something.
i wanted a groom room scene.
the ever's ball. ugh. they did agatha so dirty.
HER CIRCUS OF TALENTS GOWN WAS REMOVED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CIRCUS OF TALENTS
they did hester so dirty. like where was her witchiness? her superiority complex? her intense and undying love for her coven even though she insults and belittles them constantly?
ANADIL!! where were her rats?? also i think i saw someone else point this out that they could've cast an albino person because she is albino in the books. there's already so little albino representation. and that doesn't mean she can't be black, she could be a black albino person. i did love the girl who played her though.
i wanted more coven scenes.
tedros was not annoying like he was in the book and i was mad about it lmao
agatha and tedros felt so forced!!
that's all i can think of right now. im so mad about the movie that im going to go write an entire screenplay for a 10-episode tv series.

Gonna preface this by saying this ask is about a certain Tedros so if you don't feel like answering I totally get it. I was wondering though if you've seen some of the photos that have come out for magazines and whatnot for his album promo and what you think of his "attempt" at.. well i'm not sure what. His concepts are all over the place and i'm going to be honest and say the slicked down hair looks awful on him, as well as him serving absolutely nothing for the ones where he is obviously going for a more flamboyant look. I just genuinely don't understand how his visuals seem to have deteriorated so much in such a short amount of time yet his cockiness has only risen
I have to say, there's something about noticing how the Tedros name is actually sticking makes me feel a certain way.
I've seen some photos, without me looking actively for it. Even scrolling on that dumb tiktok app ruins my plans of avoiding some people. Nevertheless, I do have eyes and I have opinions and sometimes I wish I'd shut up about it, but I also can't help it.
At the end of the day, let's just say it's all subjective. Perhaps for some people (many I see) his type of handsomness and aura becomes a canvas for experimentation. Maybe you or I are just way too damn picky and we have a different taste.
(Why am I trying? This is an exercise in futility by the way 💀)
Maybe the girls and the gays(?) are all over him because of this manufactured look/aesthetic of skinny boy that likes to experiment with his sexuality/gender expression. I don't know what they're going for. Some less sexy/naughty version of Troy Sivan, but Tedros can never pull off a twink look. So, what is there? Beats me. Who is the intended target audience and the actual audience? Only Army and his solo stans/shippers are getting hot over it? Maybe. What do I know, anon? What do I know?
Not much, lol. I'm merely a basic girl that finds Jimin's beauty hard to comprehend and for which Baby Star Candy is like the embodiment of a twunk. Each with their own preferences.
This is all aesthetics and let's just allow ourselves to be into whatever we want while still bitching about whatever we want cause that never gets old 😘

Tedros x Agatha (SGE)
fluff
Warnings: mildly sick characters, banter.
"A-Agatha?" A wobbly voice called.
Agatha stirred from her sleep, confused. She glanced at the clock on the wall, seeing the time to be 6:30 AM.
Nobody woke up that early except-
"Tedros!" She groaned, scrambling out of her bed and sliding her slippers on in a hurry.
Soon enough, she found where he was.
He was slumped against the doorframe leading out of their chambers, sweat beading his pale forehead, clearly bath-bound, judging from the towel and razor in hand.
"Agatha, thank you, can you please-"
"I thought I told you," Agatha said menacingly, snatching up his towel and razor, "not to get out of bed. And yet you did. And now, you're like this."
Tedros scowled, glaring at her.
"I need to get ready for today," he continued, ignoring her comment, "there's this really important meeting I've got to attend."
"So important you have to sacrifice your health?" Agatha questioned.
"I-I'm not even that sick," Tedros protested, his legs wobbling as he stood shakily. "I just called you over to ask to fetch, some, ah, water, just in case I felt a bit nauseous."
"Tedros," she began sternly, "you're going to bed right now. You're going to stay there, and sleep, and I'm going to get the chef to cook you the sick special: pasta with so much cheese it ruins the dish."
"But-"
"No."
"I really need to-"
"No."
"Come on, please-"
"No."
"Agatha, seriously-"
"NO! Tedros, you are sick and it is my responsibility to take care of you!"
"Fine. But the next time you're sick, I have to take care of you." Tedros bargained.
There was a thoughtful pause.
"No promises." Agatha replied with a smirk.
As Tedros opened his mouth to protest, Agatha dragged him to their bed, pushing him onto it and lying beside him.
"Now we're going to sleep."
"This was more for you than for me, wasn't it?" Tedros snorted.
"Perhaps," Agatha said with a guilty smile.
"You are such a criminal little princess, with ulterior motives."
"I think you mean to say queen." Agatha corrected with a grin.
"Criminal little queen, then." Tedros said, grinning also.
"I suppose that's my true title. But don't complain too much, you're the one who chose me after all, Tedros."
"How could I forget?" Tedros asked, rolling his eyes.
But he kissed her anyway.
"Sweet, but germs!" Agatha whisper-screamed, pulling away.
They stayed like that for many hours more, until Tedros felt much better, and Agatha felt much worse.
And then they laughed hard until they both felt worse and Tedros spent another day caring for Agatha.
Now, many little girls and boys around the world want a star-studded love story, filled with princes who will kiss you and compliment you and princesses who will look well and will always be your loyal one true love.
And while some of those things are fine and dandy, they should take some meaning from this tale.
Find someone who will care for you when you are sick. Find someone who will argue with you about how sick you are, and force you to stay at home, even if it is against your will. Find someone who will spoonfeed you soup, and laugh when it splatters.
Find someone who loves you like Agatha and Tedros love each other.

An Ever-Never Ladies' Junk Food Date
Agatha couldn’t believe her eyes. Or her noes. Or her mouth, for that matter. As she bit into the round sandwich, all she could do is let out a groan of appreciation. Despite her disapproval of the man-hating doctrine preached in the School for Girls, at least this came out of it.
Beatrix had invited (more like dragged) all of the girls from last year into a new restaurant that had opened near the school. ‘You HAVE to try it’, she kept on gushing. Agatha had to give her credit for managing to drag the coven out from their hiding place in the bathroom, though. Hester and Anadil’s endless grumbling only subsided when heaps of slop-like food were piled on the table. Meanwhile, Dot was grumbling about a different matter – ‘I’ll ruin my hard-won figure’, she wailed. Beatrix only responded with a snort before ordering her the largest chocolate milkshake there is (Dot secretely turned it into beetroot while Beatrix wasn’t looking).
The food served was a type of sandwich (‘it’s called a burger’, the elf waiting on their table explained), with a round bun and a flat beef patty in the middle, accompanied by fried potatoes that were drizzled with what appeared to be tomato sauce. The Evers, once hell-bent on maintaining their slim figures, now had the largest appetites of all. Beatrix’ burger had two layers of beef, both topped with layers of melted cheese. Her best friend Reena’s had only one patty, mixed with various types of spices. When Agatha tried it, she desperately gulped for the candy floss milkshake accompanying Reena’s burger. Her reaction was met with a giggle from Kiko, who was munching daintily from a one-patty burger, complete with potatoes smothered in cheese.
Anadil’s rat peeked a furry head out of her pocket. It’s mistress affectionately fed it a strip of fried potato. Soon, a second head appeared, apparently jealous at the attention its fellow rat was getting. To Agatha’s right, Sophie plastered a forced smile on her face while staring in horror at the contents of her plate.
‘Is the food not to your taste?’, Reena frowned.
Sophie quickly shook her head. ‘I…’ She looked to Agatha for help, but Agatha was too busy enjoying her food to notice. ‘I ate earlier’, she fibbed. ‘The egg white omelettes at breakfast was simply MARVELOUS, weren’t they Aggie’, Agatha felt a desperate nudge under the table. ‘I just love a soft, creamy omelett’, Sophie kept on blabbering nervously. ‘The ones in Gavaldon could never taste this good. Don’t you agree, Aggie?’ Another nudge.
To humour her, Agatha let out a murmur of agreement. But Reena was undeterred. ‘Well Sophie’, she began, ‘we don’t have to starve ourselves so boys will like us, so eat all you want!’ ‘I’m not hungry!’, Sophie protested. ‘And you know I’m long LONG, over Tedros.’ ‘Damn right!’, Beatrix proclaimed. ‘No Tedros, no Tristan, no Chaddick. We’re ugly, we’re fat, and we’re free!’
Reena whooped and raised her glass of milkshake. The elf waiter shot her a scolding look. ‘Seriously Sophie’, said Agatha with a mouthful of burger. ‘You’re seriously missing out’. ‘Fine’, sighed Sophie. ‘One mouthful, that’s it.’ She daintily picked up her burger with the tips of her fingers and raised it to her mouth. The entire table waited with raised eyebrows. Sophie took a bite. She chewed. She swallowed. Then, a groan left her mouth. ‘I can’t believe this slop could taste so good.’ ‘ What did we tell you’, chuckled Beatrix. ‘They deliver to the school, you know’, she added with a wink.
Sophie straightened. ‘ This is only a one time occurrence. I'll consider this my cheat day and I'll go back to eating cucumbers tomorrow’. ‘Tell yourself that’, snorted Agatha. As the conversation drifted to their plans after school, to making fun of boys, Agatha slipped a piece of paper to the waiter while no one was looking. Delivery to School for Girls, Sophie of Woods Beyond, Room 506. September the eighth, 1pm.

🏳️‍🌈Tedros is GAY 🏳️‍🌈
I am a huge SGE fan, and a bisexual teen, and I have had this thought on my mind for a very long time (ever since I read book 2), that Tedros is very obviously gay!
and I have seen some people on here saying Tedros is bi, but I disagree. and it’s not because I'm biphobic or don’t think it exists because i.am.bi.
but here's why I think he is a shut in the closet gay,
I believe that Tedros didn’t love Agatha or Sophie (because they’re lesbians). he just felt the need to fall in love with a princess like fairytales say. so he first found Sophie and was “in love” with her, but it didn’t work out because they’re both kinda fruity.
but he did like Sophie’s personality and they would have been compatable if she was a boy!
so when Agatha got pretty all of a sudden he forced himself to be with her, but in my opinion they just don’t work. and it is proven in book 2 when he doesn't kiss Agatha in the tower. it is because it feels wrong to kiss girls.
and then Sophie becomes Philip! and up to this point Tedros hasn’t kissed anyone because he always backs out last minute. but when Philip shows up and he quite obviously falls head over heals for him, Tedros for the first time tries to initiate the kiss!
later in book three Tedros gives Sophie another chance, and I think this is because of his love for Philip. he knows Philip is the only person he actually loved and so he gives Sophie another chance because they are technically the same person, right? but he changes his mind and goes back to Agatha very abruptly because he realizes he can’t love Sophie because she’s a girl and to stay with her would hurt to much as he would constantly be wishing she’s a boy.
and that is why Tedros is gay and not bi. because if he was bi he would have ended up with Sophie since his love for Philip would not have been ruined by gender preference.
he is a gay icon, and I stand by it!

Anti-Hophie Rant
So I finally finished reading One True King, and this is what I have to say. It’s long.
WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!
Before I get into this, just a small warning: If Hophie is your OTP and embodiment of perfection, this text is not for you. I will not argue with anyone, alright?
To start this off, in my opinion OTK is the weakest of the series. It just feels like a connection between the last book and the fact that Tedros has to become the King. Some might argue that the second book was the worst, well, I disagree. It’s not just because Hophie happens here, but I kind of believe that when the internet spoiled to me that my hated ship was going to happen (because I had to wait until the book comes out in my country), I was expecting more from it. That I would actually be convinced it’s meant to be, which didn’t happen. Also the execution of some characters (Ahem...Merlin) was just...why. It seemed to me that there were a lot of other fan services in this book, apart from Hort and Sophie getting together, but more about that later.
I need to remember this for good, and next time I become a fan of something, I will avoid its fanbase. I do not mean to offend anyone, but a fanbase can really ruin a platform, especially when the platform is still developping and the fanbase is influencing it, which I believe did happen a lot with SGE. I will not deny that a fandom can improve such thing - that is definitely true as well - but sometimes the line between improving and ruining is slim, and if it doesn’t ruin the platform, then it might ruin a couple of fans’ experience of it.
Now to the point of me hating Hophie.
As I mentioned in my previous post, and above. When I discovered the fandom and found out that people are shipping Hort and Sophie, I asked myself “But why? Sophie doesn’t like Hort.” and I kind of thought this was a joke or a meme ship. I always ship characters where both sides have at least a visible bit of attraction towards each other. Whether its friends to lovers or enemies to lovers. Hophie, until the last book and half, was not the case. It was a typical example of unrequited crush, Sophie once only used Hort to make Tedros jealous. But if my mind isn’t tricking me, she was always disgusted by him and even during their first encounter, he attempted to harass her! And the fact that “they were still kids back then” is not an excuse to me.
Allow me to make a slight turn from SGE. When I was about 8-10, my mum took me to see an opera called Turandot. I will not bother you with opera, but long story short: A princess is very beautiful and a lot of men want to marry her. So she is giving everyone three questions, if they answer incorrectly, they are executed. Everyone are getting executed until a prince in disguise arrives and is in love with her, answers all questions correctly. Princess doesn’t want to marry him tho, so he asks her to guess his name and if she succeeds, he will gladly die. The princess doesn’t feel love at all and doesn’t want to fall in love. She believes she is a saint. Then in a dramatic duet the prince kisses her and ALL OF SUDDEN the princess falls in love with him.
Whew. Sorry, I tried to make this as short as possible. I remember asking my mum after this: “Why is the girl always forced to love the boy?” Little me didn’t like this idea of a “magical kiss” already, lol. Mum’s answer was “Because it was written by a boy.”, but that’s not even my point here. Do you see the pattern? Girl keeps refusing guy but in the end he still gets her. THIS RIGHT HERE is the main reason why I hate Hophie. It reinforces the stereotype that if a guy is persistent enough, he will get the girl even if she said no a million times.
Another note I’d like to say about this, and I’m going to receive hate for this opinion. I started book 1 when I was 16. Now I’m in my early twenties and I get that most SGE readers are still teenagers. The age of crushes, clumsy love experiments, etc. OK now I sound like a grandma. But I think this is where Hophie stems from. Everyone are seeing themselves in Hort. Your crush doesn’t like you back, his crush doesn’t like him back. Something like Éponine in Les Misérables. If Marius and Sophie both fall in love with the person who likes them, it’s like the crush of the fan does. Can we call this the Hort-Éponine complex?
Aside from that, I believe that people who already experienced both sides of unrequited love (like yours truly grandma, right here), meaning Sophie’s side of it, are less likely to support such ships.
I will now dive into the OTK “resolution” of this pairing. First let me just say, this book made me, if not hate, then at least strongly dislike Hort’s character. The first half of the book and even a some time after before he finally gets with Sophie, his character is disgusting to me. He is so obsessed with her, even while he’s still dating Nicola. As in my previous post, it’s like a huge part of his character is only “I LOVE SOPHIE”. While he’s still with Nicola, he never fails to mention “his FRIEND Sophie”. I will now paraphrase because I read a translation, not the original, but even when Hort’s singing to the guards to distract them so Agatha and Tedros can sneak into the Library, he sings something along the lines “Girlfriend Nikki and friend Soph”. I’m not sure if this was meant to convince the reader that Sophie ending up with Hort is a good idea, but with me, it did the exact opposite.
In general, their “romance” feels extremely rushed to me. Compared to Sophie’s previous love interests, regardless of who they were as people, these two have zero chemistry. It seems as if Sophie decided to settle because there was no other guy for her. And the description of her suddenly being in love with him, as mentioned above, is another of those “magical kiss” stories. It is hardly believable and kind of... shallow.
There even were several moments when Rafal was mentioned. In COT, when the protagonists wanted to flee Camelot but Sophie decided to stay, she saw Hort flying to her and she mistook him for Rafal. Goodness. Even in OTK there were a few moments when it seemed that Sophie still has issues from that relationship. Very few, but they were there.
Therefore I refuse to believe that the reason for this was anything other than to satisfy the majority of the fandom. In addition, the entire book feels like one huge “fan service”, as other ships are “sailing” as well. We have Hestadil and Bogden/Willam, but these two are at least believable. Hestadil started, even tho inconspicously, two books ago, and it resolved naturally. And beforehand they were close friends, so there’s that. As for the boys, they were side characters, so we can only think that all resolved while they were off the scene.
To sum it up, I thought of three different endings I’d prefer for Sophie.
On the first place, this was mentioned several times by other people, is that she should have stayed on her own. That happened in TLEA, but this time, really. I hated that OTK made it seem that she really needs a partner. Yes, love, but heck... is romantic love the only thing that is out there? How about friendship? Content with oneself? Pursuing hobbies that you love? Freedom? Come on. Awesome characters that end up single AND ARE HAPPY should have more representation. And I think Sophie would have been amazing like that.
On the second place I have two things. First, Sophie with a girl. Only I’m not sure who. Maybe Nicola, or Betty if she survived. Or maybe, people might hate me for this, but... Dot? I don’t ship it but I think it could have been cute. Maybe they would start off getting closer as friends and the rest would be left up to the reader’s imagination.
The other preferable ending I have at second place was originally on the third place, but some weird nostalgia overcame me when reading OTK and I had to move it up. People will hate me. But if Sophie should end up with a guy, it should have been Rhian. Yes, I know what you are thinking right now. But think about it. That guy really believed he was Arthur’s son. Imagine if he found out the truth. Something tells me it would be really hard for him at first, but in the end, if he found out that Japeth really only wants Aric, he could’ve joined the protagonists. In my opinion Sophie had the best dynamic with him, before it all spiralled downwards with snakes etc. Maybe he could pretend to help his twin but in the end... I believe I read something like this somewhere on Tumblr as well. Also this kind of feels as if it could have been Soman’s original plan before he turned to pleasing the fans. Or maybe I’m just fantasising too much.  Regardless of how much you’re cursing me right now, I believe Rhian deserved better and shouldn’t have died. After all, he was the better twin.
As for Hort, well, before OTK I didn’t really care for his character, I didn’t dislike him but he wasn’t my favourite. I simply wished him well hoping he’ll get over Sophie so he can be happy, either with Nicola/someone else, or on his own. After the last book made me resent him, I’m not sure. He could have died, but I know that is cruel.
He could have been slowly realising that he doesn’t need Sophie, his love would fade away, maybe Nicola could break up with him in the process, then they would get back together, at a natural pace, realisation, etc. Or they wouldn’t, or they wouldn’t break up at all, just separate on different missions, and then reunite and realise they were truly meant to be together all along.
Whew, if you made it here, congratulations. If you read this as a Hophie shipper, I’m not taking away your opinion. I just needed to let this out. Hope we can respect each other.
...But I still kinda wish we could get another version of OTK where Hophie doesn’t happen.

OOOOOOKAY!
Who's ready for some angst!?
Like I said in a previous post, the rework on A World Without Princes is going to be dark as in it deals in abusive relationships, such as ones like Sophie and Agatha's, which is very verbally abusive and and gaslight-y, in my opinion.
Tedros and Aric should have a similar relationship, but, given how Aric's role changes, it's going to be more physical.
LET ME EXPLAIN!
The story in the beginning should be mostly the same with Sophie and Agatha running to the School for Girls and away from the princes hunting them. However, when Dovey explains Tedros put out the order, Agatha should cry out that he wouldn't do that. As emotionally inbalanced as he is, he's never been a homicidal maniac. Witch or not, he wouldn't just fly off the handle and go for someone's head. Sophie would whistle about how he almost shot her with a biw and arrow, but Agatha snaps with, "Because you TRICKED us both!"
And, you know what? AGATHA. IS. RIGHT.
While the girls were in Gavaldon, Tedros ran and locked himself away in the school master's tower(it was the closest building, and he followed the storian there) as Sophie and Agatha's tale ended and their book closed.
Frantic and desperate, he flipped through the book as the storian began writing a new story, one titled, The Tale of The Lost Love, which details Tedros's search through Sophie and Agatha's tale for a clue on hiw he can get his true love back. He also checks other books with characters "Of Woods Beyond" in them, in case this has happened before.
It hasn't. Every Reader has either failed or been killed in their fairytales.
After his search, here is what the storian's words read, "Alone in the ruined School Master's tower, Tedros wept as his heart broke in pieces, shambled as the room he had toen through like a madman. Alas, there were no clues, no hints, no Agatha, and no Galavdon that she had spoken of. He sat alone in the tower, just as empty and crestfallen as his true love."
The eviction happens the same, but Tedros only finds out when Hort, Chaddick, and Tristan tell him. He doesn't know how to process this information and is literally speechless as Tristan reads the room and, being the precious boy he is, kind of starts cleaning up as Hort slips out a, "Nice place. Redecorating?"
Tedros is told about the eviction and how the School for Boys needs a leader and he's got the highest status, so the role of School Master falls on him.
He may have led the School for Good, but he knew just about everyone in said school. He BARELY knows anyone in the School for Evil, save for Hort, Rsvan, Vex, Hester, Anadil, and Dot, the latter three in the School for Girls.
He's not sure about taking the mantle, he just lost the love of his life, but is essentially talked into it by Chaddick, who thinks leading the boys will help him, and Hort, because he doesn't like seeing a sad Tedros.
He agrees and all is well for a little while, with boys from both schools now cooperating and giving tips on how to fight, until Tedros notices the girls have thrown out August Sader's paintings, the ones of the villages the students were picked from.
With a quick, "Chaddick, you're in charge," he takes the paintings and hides back in a tower, not the school master's this time just a really tall tower.
With Tedros out of the picture, the boys start to realize that maybe Tedros isn't the best leader, at least not under stress.
It does not help that the girls have been sending them little trinkets to piss them off because, "Boys can't hit girls."
One boy, however, stomps and spits all over that notion when he struts his stuff to the boys and throws an injured girl down in front of them, bleeding from her stomach and with her hand broken, an army of goons behind him.
Yep. This is how we meet Aric. He has not only found one of the girls trying to start a fight, but he has made her PAY for it by finishing the fight.
Impressed with this new attitude, Chaddick introduces Aric to Tedros, who is pulled out of studying the paintings and some maps, and Tristan, who has become Tedros's confidant.
Tristan and Chaddick make the worst mistake ever and leave Aric and Tedros alone, the former taking note of the paintings, books, and maps.
Just to fill you guys in, his plan is to look for Gavaldon and convince Agatha to come back, or at least make sure she still loves him; he'll beg on his knees and cry if he has to.
It's worth mentioning that Aric has heard the tale of Agatha and Sophie.
Serious note here, my experience is very second hand and from an outsider looking in, but I have been learning about the mindset of an abuser for a lottle while. I'm not an expert, and I'm sorry if any of what you're about to read becomes distressing or too dark.
Aric admits that Tedros is working himself a little too hard for a girl who isn't looking for him.
Tedros simply claims that she IS from a Reader village, so there'd be a lot of commotion about them coming home after half a year.
Here is the rest of their conversation:
"That witch is pretty good at persuading people, though. Telling them what to do and and how and when. Your Agatha chose her in the end, didn't she?"
(Tedros ignores him amd keeps looking theough the paintings and maps.) "Why are you here? The boys keep saying you almost killed a girl."
(Aric shrugs as a wide smirk stretches across his face) "She crossed into your territory, she was asking for it. Just like the rest of them. Including those two Readers."
(Tedros's eyes dart to the storian, which is writing furiously in his book. Aric steps in front of him, hiding the storian from his view.)
"Humblest and most sincere apologies for the intrusion, my prince. And my behavior. A lot of boys are bruised with those girls. No love for princes anymore."
(Tedros's eyes drift to the floor as his shoulders curl up. That hits too hard for him.)
(It gives Aric the opportunity to close his book and take the storian, holding it behind his back.) "Good and Evil are history. You know that better than any of them." (He approaches Tedros and puts an arm on his shoulder, with a slight of hand, hiding the storian in the same sheath as his knife.) "It's us-" (He gestures between himself and Tedros as they stop at a window). "Against them." (He points to the Girl's school.) "Want to have another Sophie ruin everything for you again? Take away your true love?"
Tedros is shaken by this, and by how true these words are.
"What do you want?"
"To help. Why do you think I brought an army with me? No offense, but those boys down there don't know what they're doing."
Tedros slowly and nervously nods to this. "If you want to stay, fine, but-"
"Thank you VERY much, your grace! I'll ensure tpu don't regret this."
Tedros holds up a finger, stern eyed and jaw set. "BUT you have to help me find Agatha."
Aric's smirk drops. "What if she doesn't love you? She left with Sophie, remember?"
Tedros turns away to leave. "I just want to make sure, then. That she's sure about her decision."
Aric holds his shoulder again. "Fine. And, by the way, keep this hidden a little better." He holds up the storian, and Tedros nods as he takes the storian and looks for a way to either keep it secure, if something's covered in locks, most people don't even bother,or to keep it hidden, a Plan B he makes with Tristan later that night.
THIS WAS PART 1 OF THE REWORK OF A WORLD WITHOUT PRINCES!!!!!!!!
My goodness, it's just the beginning and Aric's already slimy and evil😅
Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed and stay tuned for part 2!!!!!!!!

So there’s this fic...
So those of you who follow me know that I don’t really post my own stuff and usually just reblog whatever shit I find. And whenever I do post my own stuff it’s a short snippet or joke or something.
That’s not the case right now.
No this is not serious or anything I just want to share an amazing fic and talk about it: The Otherness Came (and I knew it’s name) by @pumpkinpaperweight
(Yes this is a School for Good and Evil fic and it’s really good)
Starting here there will be spoilers from the books (specifically from TCY) and Kate’s fic. You have been warned.
So I’m really new to this fandom and this is my first sge fic so you could say there’s some bias but I don’t think it would effect much.
(Disclaimer: I do not know @pumpkinpaperweight and have never interacted with her. I just love her fic(s) and headcanons)
So where should I begin. Ah yes. Never! Tedros
The thing I love about this is that he never really changes personalities. He’s literally the exact same Tedros but he’s got a sexy villain outfit with a chest slit (who’s idea was that? Sophie wasnt there) Its basically like if tedros didn’t always have to worry about the good rules we learned in book one. Which half the time he doesn’t listen to anyway and is the idea this entire fic is based on.
Now the thing is: this actually fits in better than the actual Camelot years. Most people who have read that know this and basically just forgo the original final two books and the ending of QFG. Honestly I kinda have too. But here’s the thing: would we enjoy it as much not knowing the actual canon version? I mean I feel like never! Tedros definitely could have happened easily but would we feel the same about it? I hope we would because it’s an amazing and interesting concept but I don’t really know. Nonetheless it’s still so enjoyable and fits with the never ever theme better.
Anyway the stakes were WAY higher in this one and a lot less deaths because let’s face it: there were way too many deaths in TCY. And yeah I get it deaths are needed but legit if you were an adult? You. Were. Not. Gonna. SURVIVE. Like im pretty sure a lot of them didn’t necessarily NEED to happen to still get to that final point. Like I’m not saying it didn’t flow but there was probably a different way. And no I’m not hating on the series. I love the series. It’s still good but I just thought of these things after seeing something like Kate’s fic. Like Robin’s and Betty’s deaths were both completely unnecessary. But in the fic, they don’t die (hell Robin isn’t ever in it). And THE STAKES. Agathas LIFE was on the line. It keeps Agatha from even having the chance of interfering after Rhian becomes king. SHES the one scim-washed instead of Sophie and it breaks them BOTH. The trial too. It’s rigged and when Rhian finds out he didn’t have a claim he SURRENDERS. It shows his pure Goodness simply manipulated.
Also did I mention Tedros’s outfit and stuff? Because yeah, that needs more attention. It’s fucking hot. Like when he’s put into the bad boy role, he will fucking play it and slay it. It’s a shame that outfit was ruined with Japeth’s blood though. I mean Sophie approved of it so what do you expect. Who knew Tedros had an eye for fashion?
Not to mention Tedros is just a bit darker with his humor. Not much where it’s not Tedros but it’s there. But what do you expect when you find out your soul is evil? It actually makes for a lot of fun jokes. My favorite one is when he breaks everyone out of prison at Rhian’s wedding and is like “hail to Rhian Pendragon, the one true king, on this glorious day of his wedding” (of course he says this sarcastically) and let’s face it: ever!tedros wouldn’t make that joke. But never!tedros? It’s free real estate!
Tumblr media
(Of course it’s way funnier in context)
He’s also a bit more dramatic too (like the amount at the end of OTK where his head is chopped off and then he’s like BITCHES IM ALIVE) like it’s otk ending all. The. Time. Which there is NO reason to complain about that. Once again it’s just the never showing and it doesn’t really mess with the personality that much. It’s just a minor trait turned slightly more major.
Also also actually actually Tedros becomes friends with a bunch of nevers (specifically Ravan which is a friendship I think ALL of us never knew we needed). He legit gets the support of a lot of the never kingdoms which is why this is much easier for him.
Plus we have the coven being badass too in case you were wondering.
And there’s a lot more Arthurian lore in this too. Like the crest Tedros adopts (because he shouldn’t be confined to lion, eagle, or snake) is a dragon like it originally is. I mean it is the PenDRAGON line. I’m surprised Soman didn’t use pendragon in the books anyway, so seeing it here was a relief.
Anyway I think that about rounds it out (I don’t want it to be too long even though it already is) but all in all: I love this series but i love this fic more so go read it.

I Don’t Really... Like Agatha? Sorry. This will be explained, I promise. I do like her, just in a different way.
This is going to be super controversial, I know it.
Surprisingly, this started in Book 1.
My first thought when I was introduced to Agatha was: I would not be friends with her.
Like, okay, you’re goth and edgy and ugly and different. That’s cool. But,
Let Sophie Go.
Clearly, Sophie wants to become a princess and have a fairytale. That’s all she’s ever dreamed of, it’s in the first chapter. And Agatha wants a normal life in Gavaldon, which is understandable.
So, she tries to “save” Sophie from being taken by the School Master. But the way I see it, Agatha is clinging on to Sophie because she’s the only friend that she’ll ever have, and if she leaves, Agatha will have nothing. Agatha even SAYS that Sophie is the only one who makes her feel accepted.
This turns out to be a theme for the rest of the plot: Agatha wants her old life back with her friend. She even achieves that at the end, kind of. I don’t have a problem with that, you know? However, it’s not like Sophie was the darling of Gavaldon and her popularity transfers to Agatha in their friendship. Radley points out that Sophie is hanging out with a witch, so Agatha still has the same reputation.
So, Agatha just plans on living the rest of her life as an outcast? Sophie makes her FEEL normal. She’s not actually normal in Gavaldon terms. In fact, she’d probably be scapegoated for a famine or wildfire or kidnapping the children, and then sentenced to death by The Elders.
When she gets to SGE, she wants to return home... for WHAT? Sure, the students at School for Good tease you (and this time, you don’t have Sophie to back you up), and the teachers don’t have much faith in you.  I know what it feels like to be alone and doubted by everyone. Still though, this is a magical school, and Agatha can learn magic. Literally who would turn that down? Granted, Ever Girl classes are about beauty and grace, two things Agatha would fail in, but she is so smart.  If she focused on magic and spells and put her mind to it, she could easily become powerful. Just talk to Dovey, talk to August Sader, ask them about improving your skills beyond posture or smiling (also this could’ve been an amazing opportunity for Agatha to have scenes with her so-called mentors, but no, she speaks two words to them, they wink at her knowingly and when they die, we’re supposed to cry? Bullshit.)
Agatha has shown that she’s badass already. Why not become more powerful and prove the Ever Girls wrong? Instead, she wants Sophie to kiss Tedros so they can resume their friendship in Gavaldon.
By the way, neither girl LIKES their school. That’s why Sophie was convinced to go to the School Master. She was like, damn, if we can’t switch schools and I can’t go to the Snow Ball, what’s the point? Fine, I’ll settle for Agatha.
I don’t know, I think Agatha was selfish in holding back Sophie. Just let her flirt with Tedros, what’s so hard about that? Oh, you feel inadequate because you’ve lost Sophie’s attention? Grow a backbone (yes, I know that’s the point of the book).
Anyways, if you only saw through Sophie in the beginning, you would have known that the faster Sophie chases after her fairytale, the faster she’ll fail and put it to rest (after a world-ending tantrum, but it would’ve cut the page count in half. So I don’t need to read this much boy drama).
The Glow Up
Everyone raves about this damn scene. Agatha becomes confident, yay! Inspiring to young girls everywhere. That’s established. Let’s move on.
SGE is about subverting expectations, appearances vs reality, friends vs love. We know that. Except Agatha is just...
When Agatha became “pretty”, and then realized her inner beauty shines past her looks, I thought she would KNOCK BITCHES DOWN. I was rooting for her. I thought she’d finally put Sophie in her place.
This was destroyed when Agatha became like the Ever Girls she hated for the first part of the book. She develops a crush on Tedros, which was the defining feature of the Ever Girls: liking boys. Nothing wrong with that, it was just out of place. I understand that Tedros might have caught feelings after Agatha saves his life, that’s a trope we’re familiar with and it makes sense.
What doesn't, is that Agatha reciprocates? She’s been grossed out by boys the whole book, what makes Tedros different? Literally what switch flipped in her brain. That she’s worthy of love? Girl, if you're “confident” now and suddenly dating a boy that you never genuinely got to know... Also, was Tagatha even considered a relationship? They don’t hang out until TLEA. I feel like Agatha was just excited to have a guy like her for once. They call each other “true love” based on what? We BEEN KNEW Tedros is dumb (okay, you picked her in all the challenges, that’s not real proof), and Agatha, do you even know his last name?
^ if anyone’s watched the Witcher, Yennefer is very similar to Agatha and she gains her physical beauty after she’s finished with her training as a mage. Also, Yennefer is dating a hot guy with authority WHILE she’s still ugly. Love that for her. (This situation is different because Yennefer is morally grey, maybe evil, but I like this arc better than Agatha’s).
Lesbian Agatha? Simp Agatha?  What’s going on??
This started when I noticed on Goodreads that some people genuinely thought Agatha was lesbian. (Me being me, this went over my head).
Like, okay I get it, Agatha MIGHT be a simp for Sophie. I do kinda get it.
Throughout the book, Agatha repeatedly is there for Sophie even when Sophie treats her like shit (I don’t have to explain each example, right? We been knew.)
What stands out to me most was when 1. she literally turned into a cockroach and stayed up all night for weeks to help Sophie study 2. cheated and guided her in the Trial By Tale  (risking her life several times in the process).
That wasn’t because she had a Good heart (though it contributed). It was because Agatha wanted to protect Sophie.
The only reason I didn’t include all the times Agatha helped Sophie make Tedros fall in love with her was because she thought that Sophie’s kiss would send them back home, so that was theoretically for her own benefit (although we know that Sophie was just using Agatha).
Also, I distinctly remember Sophie having a Regina George moment with Agatha where she was like “why are you so obsessed with me?!”. Because Agatha was being all “😔👉🏻👈🏻 we’re friends” and Sophie was like GET YOUR OWN LIFE YOU’RE RUINING MINE!!!
Nitpicky Shit
This is irrelevant, when you come for me don’t mention this part because I’m not all that pressed.
Agatha comes off as Not Like Other Girls. She says that everyone at School for Good are stupid/shallow RIGHT OFF THE BAT. Obviously Beatrix didn’t make a good impression, but come on.
She hates that all the girls are obsessed with boys and looks. Just because you’re not interested doesn’t mean others can’t be. It came up several times and I was so irritated. Not to mention that Sophie was basically a carbon copy of Beatrix except that she’s nice to her.
This is extremely SJW of me but I had to say it. Sophie is a typical bratty blonde. Agatha is said to be hideous, then finds out she was beautiful all along. I felt like this would’ve been better if Agatha had Real unconventional features.
She’s tall, skinny and pale with big eyes. That is a textbook runway model and fits Eurocentric beauty standards. It’s not like making Agatha fat, short, and dark-skinned with acne is going to enhance the book, although it would be so, so nice.
Might be editing this later on! I don’t know!
Disclaimer: Agatha’s still a good character, I still like reading about her.

so I finished my raphie fic, the one that snippet earlier was taken from. the fic is called A Promise of Forever, and I’m not honestly sure how I feel about it. It’s a lot shorter than my other oneshots, and the style, especially at the end, is really different than anything else I’ve written.
idk. it’s almost more like a poem than a fic? it feels a bit snooty, honestly, like it’s trying too hard to be deep or whatever.
read it under the cut if you want to. I’m not totally sure about the ending and I might completely change it before posting on ao3, so we’ll see what happens there.
also, keep in mind that it’s not beta-ed, which might be why it feels so strange.
hope you like it, and do tell me what you think of the ending.
Classical music plays as Sophie walks slowly down the aisle, golden hair caught in a bun encircled by intricate braids, green eyes gleaming beneath dark eyeshadow, lips stained the crimson red of fresh blood. The people in the pews turn, watching her with various expressions on their faces, and she smiles, her eyebrows narrowing wickedly. Her gray silk dress rustles around her feet, the billowy train supported by three rats. She looks forward, her gaze focusing on silver haired boy standing in the front of the ballroom. For a moment, she sees his hair curl and turn to gold, and she stumbles, memories flashing into her mind at dizzying speeds.
A ballroom much like this one.
A golden boy on his knee.
An arrow turned to a daisy with a flash of pink.
A mother, begging for a kiss.
A ring of black swan gold, carrying a promise of forever.
A father, begging for his life.
A golden boy, not so golden anymore, lying in a pool of blood.
A dark haired girl screaming as she was sent back to a town that could barely hold her.
A silver boy on his knee, gazing up at a golden haired, silver souled girl.
And a yes.
When she looks back up, Rafal’s hair is back to silver. He’s as stunning as she is in a black suit with silver accents and a gem of black swan gold in his silver crown. Their outfits match. Matching outfits for matching Evil souls.
She continues walking, black high heels clicking on the polished wood. In the seats near her, Hester and Anadil are shooting fearful glances at each other, then Rafal, then Sophie, and back to each other. To think Sophie used to call them friends. When she’s Queen, there will be no friends. There will only be servants.
Rafal extends a hand to her once she’s only a few steps away from the raised dais at the end of the ballroom. She lays her hand in his, pale skin on pale skin, so unlike golden Tedros, and he pulls her up with a gleaming smile. At least his smile isn’t much different from Tedros’, with those white teeth and softening eyebrows. She knows Rafal’s Evil, just as Evil as she is, but when he smiles, it’s hard to remember.
When he smiles, she can almost imagine he’s her happy ending.
He is her happy ending. He is her only happy ending now.
Now that Agatha’s gone.
She steps up and turns to face him, hoping her smile looks real. They stand, eyes locked onto each other, icy blue and emerald green. One of Anadil’s rats comes scampering up the aisle, holding the two rings, both made of shiny black swan gold, on a velvet cushion. They each take a ring without looking down, and Rafal takes Sophie’s free hand.
“With this ring, I thee wed,” he says. “I promise, Sophie, to give you forever.” His voice is soft as he slips the ring onto her finger, and she stares at it for a second before taking his hand.
“With this ring, I thee wed. And I promise, Rafal, to love you with all I am.” Thankfully, she’s pretty sure Rafal can’t feel the slight tremble in her hand as she puts the ring over his finger. They clasp hands and turn to face the audience.
“May I present,” Rafal says in his silky tone, “Queen Sophie of the Woods.”
At that, people start clapping, though Sophie thinks it’s not because they’re happy but because they’re scared of what she and Rafal will do if they don’t. She likes it that way. She is a Queen now, and that certainly warrants fear.
She casts a smile into the pews, a gleaming smile of wickedness and true evil. Already she can feel the black swan gold of her new ring soaking into her skin, intoxicating her with the silky promise of forever.
~
Two days after the wedding, Sophie stands on the balcony of the School Master’s tower, Rafal behind her, staring out at the sky. The sun is just setting, filling the Woods - her Woods - with orange and pink and gold, like a beautiful fire burning the kingdoms to the ground. She turns to Rafal. “What are you thinking of?”
He hesitates before saying, “You. My beautiful bride.”
She knows he’s not telling the whole truth, but she doesn’t press. The feeling that filled her body when he called her his bride is threatening to make her explode. Because though she may be a Queen, she’s just a girl. She’s eighteen years old, and she’s in love, and that love will kill her, one way or another. Right now, she can’t bring herself to care. She feels so light, like she could go soaring into the air and never have to come back down.
As if Rafal hears her thoughts, he puts his hands on her waist. “Shall we?” he murmurs, and she nods, bringing her gaze upwards to the heavens. She hates to look at him when he’s flying. There’s something in his eyes, something she’s almost scared of.
After a few seconds, Sophie feels herself lifting up into the air, Rafal’s arms around her back, protecting her from the memories. When they’re so high up, nothing matters. There are no princes or princesses threatening to ruin Sophie now, just the rising moon, so close she feels like she could reach out and touch its silvery surface.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” Rafal says, his words flecked with gold. She doesn’t quite know what he’s referring to, her or the sky or something else entirely, and she doesn’t answer. They gaze at the moon together, king and queen.
She should be happy.
~
Over the next few weeks, all Sophie can think about is that this is what she’s been dreaming of since she knew what happiness was, and yet.
And yet it’s not enough.
Rafal isn’t the problem; she’s pretty sure about that. He’s everything a prince should be, charismatic and loving and of course, handsome, with those eyes made of ice and the hair, shining as silver as the glow of the moon. And of course, he loves her. Every night he takes her flying, whispering promises in her ear and kissing her neck, his lips warm and real and right there.
Life is nice, too. Her days are spent in the School Master’s tower, and she has everything she might want there. A beautiful pink bathtub with a gold rim. Perfume in all the scents she can think of. One hundred pink gowns and heels that match each gown perfectly. A bed with the finest fluffy sheets and goose feather pillows. But for all her luxuries, she tosses and turns in her bed every night, with not even the melodies of the stars able to lull her to sleep.
So it’s her. Her doubts that are ruining her happily ever after. She misses Agatha with every fiber of her being. She knows she shouldn’t. This should be all she needs, Rafal and queen and her kingdom. But Agatha, greasy haired, bug eyed Agatha, is still holding on to her heart with those freakishly pale fingers, and as hard as Sophie tries, she can’t let her best friend go.
True love, she’s starting to realize, isn’t enough.
~
The days have started to blur together. Rafal’s kisses taste like the bitter taste of sugary sweet licorice, leaving her craving more when he pulls away even though she knows she can’t last for much longer. When they go flying at night, she doesn’t feel light anymore - she feels heavy, fearing she’ll sink as soon as she looks away from Rafal. The hands that once protected her are now chains, grasping her so tightly that she can’t let go.
Does she want to let go?
She doesn’t know.
Without Rafal, she’d be nothing. Though he brings her into the night sky, he is the only thing keeping her grounded.
Queens are not helpless. Queens are graceful but strong, always standing up to their enemies.
But Sophie’s never heard of a tale where your enemy is your true love.
~
And now she’s falling, she’s falling, she’s falling and she can’t even see what’s above her, only icy eyes capturing her in their gaze, surrounding her with frost, and she can’t do anything to stop its spread and she doesn’t even want to even though she knows she has to if she wants to survive--
-- but maybe she doesn’t want to survive --
-- and Rafal’s smiles aren’t kind anymore, they’re gleaming with evil --
-- Agatha Agatha please come back please save me please --
-- but there’s no Agatha and wasn’t Sophie the one who banished Agatha back to Gavaldon so it’s her fault and she wouldn’t be here now if she’d just been better, it’s all her fault --
-- Agatha’s voice in her mind, telling her it’s too late --
-- and emerald eyes staring up at the sky because when did it get this cold? Her teeth are chattering, she’s freezing, and there’s a silver haired boy with fire in his palms, fire in his cheeks, fire rushing up to hold her, to embrace her, to protect her --
~
and if she turns her head ever so slightly and looks out the window where there used to be Woods, there is now only fire.
~
As she burns, she tries to remember what day it is. She is still as youthful as she was years ago, blonde hair and smooth skin untouched by the cruel waves of time, sustained by Rafal’s magic and the life of the Woods.
Try as she might, she cannot remember anything except sweet, sweet poison and icy eyes and silver hair and love that wasn’t really love, but she couldn’t tell the difference until it was too late, and it’s too late and things could have been better but they’re not, this is how it is and she can’t escape it.
Her breath is coming in raspy puffs now, hanging in the air for a moment before vanishing. She has to let go.
“Sophie.”
She looks forward and she’s catapulted to a moment, long ago, walking down an aisle in a beautiful ballroom, gray dress rustling around her legs, gazing at her true love. Her true love, who’s staring at her now, something like pity in his eyes.
“It’s sad it had to come to this. For a while, I thought you could be the one,” he muses, not trying to hypnotize her anymore. He doesn’t have to. She’s pulled in, and she’s not going to come back out.
“But I suppose it wasn’t to be.”
She crumples to the ground, gaze drifting in and out of focus. The fire has settled down to a warm feeling in her heart. It’s almost peaceful.
Slowly, she raises her arms, letting her eyelashes flutter closed, and welcomes his poison.

QfG Rants and Remakes part 5
Big thanks to both @agathasarmy and @yarasquad for sharing their ideas with me and believing that I could actually make a coherent rant without being too swallowed up by my emotions and hopefully I'll be able to do the same here.
P.S. Imma change the title of the next Rants and Remakes cause it's definitely not focusing on QfG anymore and it's gonna focus of AWWP so yeah...there's that to look forward too.
Chaddick & Yara + Tagatha interlude
Note: This post was originally gonna be titled "Chaddick & Yara + Mourning the Departed" and would have turned out as how it is explained below but as I was writing about Chaddick I realized that I needed to talk about something concerning Tagatha and realized that this post would have been too long for all three so I gonna move the "Mourning of Departed" in its own post. Hope you guys understand. Tagatha has a strong pull with me.
Imma actually gonna outline this cause I need to organize my thoughts and at least with this I could remember the direction that I would be heading.
First part's definitely going to talk about how Chaddick and Yara's death is bs
Then imma explain why them staying alive would have impacted the TCY storyline a lot more meaningfully (p.s. this is where the Tagatha interlude will be found)
And last (and this has been moved to its own post so stay tuned for it), I would also like to nitpick Soman's obvious lack of thought when it comes to the characters that have departed (mainly Callis and Lady Lesso and August Sader) and how it should have affected the characters (mainly Sophie and Agatha)
How Chaddick and Yara could have helped the storyline better
WARNING: I realized while writing this that I kinda made Chaddick and Yara more flawed than they are writen because I have to think about their character growth and they can't have that without having any flaws. So expect some more drama with these two than needed as I share my thoughts on how their characters could have went. They get better in the end believe me.
So I think that everyone in the fandom is one with the idea that Chaddick's death was one of the MOST worst decisions that Soman made.
As @agathasarmy said it once, Chaddick's death is more frustrating than sad because of how out of nowhere it is.
Via @agathasarmy:
but… Chaddick??? dying??? IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SERIES????
IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE, AND THE ONLY WAY IT MAKE SENSE IS COS SOMAN OBVIOUSLY DID IT TO INTRODUCE RHIAN AND THATS THE SHITTIEST THING ABOUT IT
HE REDUCED CHADDICK’S DEATH AS A PLOT DOOR WITHOUT PROPERLY SUBSTANTIATING CHADDICK’S CHARACTER FIRST SO INSTEAD OF US TRULY MOURNING HIS LIFE WE’RE JUST LEFT WITH THIS HOLLOW FEELING OF WHAT HE COULD’VE BEEN AS AN INTEGRAL CHARACTER TO THE PLOT
THIS
Chaddick's death felt hollow because it was a PLOT DEVICE. It didn't (or at least Soman didn't) conscider Chaddick much of a character but a means and once this happens some deaths can be very very hollow.
Like his POV chapter was very hard to read all because especially once you find out that he's dead by the end of it (SHAME SOMAN, SHAME) because his story and plot had so much potential. We weren't able to properly feel sad about his lost because we didn't get to know him better.
It just feels tragic. So much potential lost, all because Soman wanted Tedros to feel vulnerable because he lost his close friend.
WHICH SOMAN DIDN'T REALLY NEED TO DO
I explained already why this is bull and I'm gonna explain later what could have happened for Chaddick's character.
But in summary on why Soman didn't need to do it: EXPECTATIONS
Chaddick and Tedros would have been stressed out with all the expectations and comparison with Arthur and Lancelot. One wrong move could have broke them apart easily.
But Soman could have also not wanted to deal with Chaddick against his Sophie obssession so there could be that too.
SHAME SOMAN
Now, Yara.
Our little Soft Girl
She should not have died.
She really shouldn't have
W h y ?
Because her being alive would have impacted the story more than her death ever did. Just like Chaddick.
And if the problem was what she could have affected in the storyline in TLEA, then she could have been on the sides like. . . as Tristan from time to time or something.
Her being alive would have not affected or change TLEA at all. Like if more important characters like the Coven and the League can fade into the background then so could she.
But I really don't imagine her being in the school for New Evil with Aric as Dean. No, maybe Yuba could have hidden her with the League and she could have accompanied Princess Uma when they were getting Tedros and Agatha and then accompanied the Leuge or something.
Really it would have been that simple. C'mon.
Plus Kiko has been reduced to wreck after that. At least, with Yara being alive she could have fixed herself a bit more.
Okay
So in summary again: CHADDICK AND YARA SHOULD NOT HAVE DIED AND SHAME ON SOMAN FOR KILLING THEM OFF
Now, let's get to the juicier part, what could these two have contributed to the TCY storyline.
On Chaddick
It's pretty obvious what Chaddick's role should have been. He should have been important to the plot because his role would have been about breaking the comparison between the Past and the Present (see Soman, it could have been integrated into your canon plot) between him, Tedros, and Agatha to Lancelot, Arthur, and Gwen.
I'm pretty sure that Camelot has its eyes on these three.
It's pretty freaking convenient that they all have a predecessor to be compared to. And I'm pretty sure that it's not just Camelot who notices the pattern. I mean the whole freaking Woods read about this affair.
So Chaddick, along with Tedros and Agatha, should have been the ones that break this chain. It could have symbolized that Camelot was entering into a new, better era after a similar relationship broke it.
Like, a King, his beloved Queen and his most trusted Knight brought hope but ended in a Tragedy.
Now, another King, his beloved Queen and his most trusted Knight are skeptically judged for having the same pattern and they instead bring the Glory that first trio didn't
With Tedros, Agatha, and Chaddick united with each other bringing Camelot out of its traumatic experience with Tedros's parents, Camelot finally accepting that these three are not the same as Arthur, Gwen, and Lance and fully supporting them DESPITE the fear, would have been a much stronger message of that 'the past doesn't always repeat itself.'
Because with Rhian being known and most propably remembered as Tedros's most trusted Knight and betraying him in the end, it's like a copy of what Lance technically did to Arthur.
It just further proved that Camelot's King would always be betrayed by the ones they trust most.
Sadly for Arthur, he was betrayed by both Gwen and Lance and they left him alone.
While Tedros still has Agatha but without Chaddick the lesson simply is not learned.
Chaddick was integral to this formula because Camelot would have had to face yet another propable tragedy for their beloved King in the hands of the people he loves. With Tedros, Agatha, and Chaddick, complete, proving that they could do better despite having just a strong a bond as what Arthur and co had and Camelot accepting and trsuting this, the previous wounds would be replaced with new Hope.
Because even if that whole affair happened and ruined the Kingdom, at least they have proof that it's not always gonna happen that way.
And that's why Rhian being remembered as Tedros's Knight hurts this idea. Cause he betrayed him too.
Anyway, hopefully I made my point with this legacy thing.
Plus Chaddick and Arthur's Round Table training him. WHY SOMAN WHY?!?!?!
And now, imma explain what I think should have happened with Chaddick and how his character development and his role should have played out.
Because Chaddick is a pretty well rounded character, his POV chapter proves that he's brave, and is willing to die for his friends and what's right, and there isn't really much flaws to him aside from that he can sometimes make the most worst decisions despite being pretty wise.
I honestly cannot tell if he is stupid sometimes or Soman just does this to him cause PLOT.
Fandom I need help with this. Give me some opinions.
Like. . . he's wise enough to know what was right, examples being warning Tedros about Sophie and the first to listen to Agatha in AWWP, but also dumb or ignorant enough to bully Agatha in Book 1 and that VERY IMPORTANT THING ABOUT completely ABUSING Tedros is AWWP.
Like I'm kinda confused with him.
Well maybe we can say that he's a bit ignorant and maybe was raised with privilege so that's why he bullied Agatha in Book 1 and kinda wisened up in Book 2 about her.
But I am not excusing his attitude towards Tedros in AWWP because that was messed up. Well, AWWP was messed up so there is that but if we have to acknowledge that mess and have some closure then I vote for it to come from Chaddick and Yara.
Like maybe the reason why Chaddick is more wise now is because of that very experience. Maybe he could still be a bit guilty about it and that kinda messes with his mind cause he still thinks that Tedros is still the same boy those years ago in their second year and Rhian uses this to his advantage.
Actually, thinking about it this makes so much sense.
Like instead of AGATHA having the trust issues (thought I wouldn't completely vanish it, just not at the same level as she does in canon) it's CHADDICK that has them. Cause he's always kinda gets haunted by what happened in AWWP.
I mean Tedros replaced him with ARIC of all people when he failed to retrieve Agatha. There has to be some animosity between them since. I can imagine that Chaddick kinda felt like him and Tedros could never be as close as when they were during their first year. And he would totally understand it if Tedros never really forgave him for what happened and was at peace with it even if he didn't have enough guts to find a closure for it. He'd respect his friend first and foremost.
But then comes Tedros, all fine and inviting him to be his Knight like that would mess Chaddick up.
He propably couldn't believe it at first and maybe even kindly refused the offer at first but then he sees the heart break in Tedros's face and Chaddick realizes that Tedros really wanted this.
Tedros still sees Chaddick as his closest friend despite what happened in AWWP. And maybe after some thinking, Chaddick realizes that he still wants to have the bond with Tedros like what they had in Book 1. So he accepts.
But of course, they've changed and Chaddick still gets eaten by guilt because I think that he's the kind of person that knows that he did something wrong and wants to repent for it.
So instead of that wise friend that Tedros had in Book 1, Chaddick can't trust his judgement about Tedros because he's scared he'd go too far. So he kinda just agrees to Tedros's ideas and doesn't really give advice. Tedros kinda notices this and tries to talk to Chaddick about it but Chaddick would be all formal to him. Tedros, I don't really know, would think that it would be for his sake with the comparison with Arthur and Lance and all. So he kinda just goes along with it.
It's messy right now guys, I know, I'm kinda butchering Chaddick's character here but I promise it gets better and in my mind he'd be like this for only Book 4. He'd be Wise Chaddick again right after. Just give me a chance to explain.
So they have this kind of miscommunication thing that Canon Tagatha had in QfG instead and that would have made so much more sense and here's why;
Warning: this is officially where the Tagatha interlude starts so if you wanna skip it (why though???) find the sign that states it's the end. It's gonna be in pink too.
The fact that Tagatha was having a miscommunication failure was kinda off with me because 1) they've been over this in AWWP and TLEA. In TLEA Tedros has absolutely no problem with pushing Agatha to share more when she wouldn't and 2) he could easily read her like a book, especially when it counts. Like he could get her favorite food wrong but he always seemed to know what Agatha was having trouble with and was there to help her out and is not afraid to call her out on it (i.e. the Cinderella thing, he was on point there)
Imma provide some examples of Tedros totally getting Agatha when it counts;
Tumblr media
AND THIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND THIS TOO
Tumblr media
WAIT THERE IS MORE (The Tagatha Moment)
Tumblr media
AND LET US NOT FORGET
Tumblr media
THIS IS WHY TLEA TAGATHA WILL ALWAYS BE BEST TAGATHA.
I get that Agatha's insecure about herself and maybe she was kinda influenced with the Excalibur thing (but I highly doubt it though) but it's no reason for her to get to the conclusion she did at the end of QfG.
I mean girl, you were always thinking that Tedros would be a Great King in TLEA and that's why you've been so insecure about yourself. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT???
Someone call me out on this PLEASE. I'm hurting myself by judging her too hard.
I can imagine that she would be sceptical with Tedros's ideas and kinda doubting him about it (you guys have no idea how much it hurts typing this) but I can also imagine that she would never doubt that Tedros's heart is in the right place even if she thinks that the way he gets there isn't always the best.
Like we have literal proof that Tedros gets Agatha almost like Sophie does and the best thing is that I'm sure that Tedros would think of the best in mind.
The mess in QfG makes no sense because they should be over this miscommunication bs and it should not have been a thing.
And if it was because of the stress with Excalibur and his responsibilities as King that made Tedros suddenly not get Agatha then WTF Soman!?!?!? I did not ask for this. They were literally about to die in TLEA and yet they could still joke and tease each other and have these cute little scenes with the other.
Instead I got Rhian's b*tch ass being Tedros's therapists when he knows sh*t about this boy and Agatha doubting Tedros like he did something horrible. (Well he did for trusting Rhian but i digress)
I could have had more of these cute Tagatha scenes instead. Like, is it too much to ask for these two to just show their love for each other in other ways than "I will save you" and "You're the best thing ever and I don't want to lose you for this horrible thing that I did or say" like give me small softer moments anytime.
Tedros gently teasing Agatha when she's being difficult and Agatha being totally trying not to show that she's smitten over it.
Agatha trying to be romantic at the most outrageous moments and Tedros being like "?????" but totally finding it cute.
Other character just not getting these two when they do and they are just as confused.
These are the kind of scenes I wanted from them. And if I have to use Chaddick to get it then so be it. (I'm sorry about this, I'm mostly projecting at this point and these really affecting my personal opinions on this matter but I'll try to tone it down a bit so that it's still coherent)
Note: this is the official end of the Tagatha interlude but i'm not keeping any promises that it'll be the last
Anyways, Chaddick and Tedros, they have more reasons with having communication problems because;
They have not been together for a very long time and they've both propably changed since
AWWP. So far, the two of them have had horrible experiences as the last thing that they remember about each other.
As I explained, I headcanon that Chaddick has a somewhat formed a sort of PSTD with it and is very scared that he's gonna mess it up.
I'm not even going to try to explain the PSTD thing cause I feel like I'm not gonna do it justice but I hope you get what I mean.
Chaddick must have become more unsure of himself after AWWP and he must still be trying to fit this new Tedros with the old one that he used to hang out with in Book 1. It would have been a good comparison to show that Tedros has indeed change and grown since then.
Like Chaddick kinda feels like he needs to intervene when Tedros shares a very outrageous suggestion but doesn't know how and kinda ends up in a mess.
Basically imagine Tagatha's problems in QfG and apply to Tedros and Chaddick instead.
And Chaddick would have been suspiscious about Rhian from the beginning. He's a smart savy guy afterall.
So Rhian kinda exploits this and gets the two boys against each other. Because say that Tedros and Chaddick have this big fight propably like the one when Agatha comments that Tedros was being a horrible king but Chaddick's the one that said it instead. Say that this happens around the middle of the Book and it's the final straw between them because they haven't been properly communicating and all the pressure on them. Rhian could easily worm his way to Tedros's side and replace Chaddick nicely. Cause unlile Chaddick, Rhian would make Tedros believe that HE'S the one that believes in him the most.
So they kinda fall apart and Chaddick and Tedros are trying to understand where it all went wrong.
Agatha would try to understand each side and get them to better terms again but she can't do it alone plus a-hole Rhian is butting in.
I imagine that, for me, the logical person that Chaddick might approach on his dilema with Tedros might be Ravan.
Cause the two of them basically think the same way and are usually calm and wise. The only difference would be that Chaddick's more active while Ravan's more passive and choses to observe before making a move. So he calms Chaddick down when he's being too impatient.
Chaddick and Agatha would be talking of course. And I don't know why but I imagine that they're more numb to all the gossip about the three of them especially around each other because they're both sort of level headed and wise then when they're with Tedros individually.
And I imagine this is where the Tagatha drama happens. Only after Rhian cause I wanna be clear that without him, Tagatha would have been fine. He also tries to break them up by saying that Agatha sides with Chaddick and that she doesn't have much faith in Tedros too.
Agatha's going to deny this of course (because it's all bs from Rhian) but Tedros has been too stressed and vulnerable that he sorta starts to believe it and Agatha gets frustrated that Tedros is choosing to believe Rhian when she's known him longer and after everything that they've been through.
But Tedros isn't fully under Rhian's spell. I would have put several times when they would doubt each other especially when Rhian talks crap about Agatha and Chaddick and it would be beserk button for Tedros so Rhian doesn't really go there.
Now Chaddick would be having his little personal battle with himself and Ravan and Agatha would be there to support him and give some advice.
The real kicker would have been when Rhian is adored by Camelot as Tedros's Treasured Knight, someone better than Lancelot and Chaddick kinda has a heartbreaking moment because HE'S supposed to be the one that was known as Tedros's Treasured Knight not this stranger. Not this stranger that stole everything from him especially his best friend.
Agatha hears about this and reflects the time when she gave up her own position as Tedros's queen in TLEA and remembers that Tedros knows her and all her monsters and has been the light to help her fight them.
So she and Chaddick have this talk and she tries to concinve him that Tedros wouldn't want for Chaddick to just give up on him like that. Chaddick thinks about it but is still not completely convinced but Agatha reminds him that Tedros CHOOSE HIM to be his Knight and Liege and they both have to fight for it.
It's Ravan who finally manages to get Chaddick to gear when he asks Chaddick if he's going to regret anything he should choose to either regret letting Tedros go and not fighting for their friendship or make a complete idiot of himself but fight for their friendship instead.
So Chaddick does the latter but everything is too late and the Rhian thing happens as I explained in the first Rants and Remakes post and Chaddick gets tossed into jail with Tedros.
It's in book 5 that I imagine their relationship actually starts to heal itself and they both try to get through everything. I haven't thought of all the kinks out yet but I imagine a lot of fights and Chaddick just kinda shouting what he thinks before he startsvthe regret it and Tedros being this physic and just getting Chaddick too like how he does Agatha.
Again, I haven't thought of everything yet but I'll share it when I do
Now let's move on to Yara
On Yara
Yara would have been more influencial alive then dead and I already explained why how she could have been handled in TLEA cause where I really see exploiting her is in the storyline of TCY.
With the Balance vs Chaos in mind as well as the Lady of the Lake villainess plotline, Yara could have been the answer to this.
She'd be a living reminder of everything that all the characters went through in AWWP and how horribly toxic it is to everyone. Especially those like Yara who lives in the between.
Like with the Lady plotline she would have promoted ultimate purity for both Good and Evil and doesn't believe that each side could be able to understand each other so she thinks that she's promoting Balance that way and that letting each side corrupt the other is Chaos.
She would have believed that Yara is an abomination to the Balance because she is the embodiment of the idea that you can choose some charcteristic from two sides and still be yourself.
Plus with Yara alive the other characters would be forced to rethink their ideals and how to approach this new possibility and reflect on the old ways that have been hurting the ones that are similar to her.
I imagine that Yara's gonna have an internal struggle with this like she's still trying to understand it herself and as she tries to understand it the more that the other characters do as well.
I haven't actually thought out her actual detailed storyline just yet and even though I wanna say more I know that I might butcher her character as I go on but I definitely know her importance to the possible story.
As I explained before, if in TSY was Good VS Evil and that the TCY was about Good AND Evil and how both sides need each other to grow and develop and that the importance of the School still teaching Good and Evil in its most purest form is so that they'd all have a guideline to go by but the curriculum has become more flexible with their beliefs OF Good and Evil and that every student just have shades of grey but choses to go by these either of the two and can still be a Hero or a Villain then Yara could have been the right person to show that it doesn't matter if your not completely on one side and was given the characteristics of the other, it matters what values you choose to follow despite it and how tou choose to use it to help everyone else for the better.
Cause it's canon already that it doesn't matter what they are, it's what they do that counts.
NGL I'm not completely satisfied with how I explained Chaddick and Yara I feel like I didn't do them justice here and I will definitely get back to this when I have organized and fleshed out my thoughts on them
Anyways, if you guys would like to add your own thoughts to this post pls do.

AWWP REWORK!
Part 2!!
SOOOO, with Tedros being manipulated by Aric, the School for Boys becomes the mess that it is, because Tedros is obviously not paying attention.
The girls get Evelyn as their dean, but I'm not having her turn Sophie back into a witch for Rafal, oh no. She's trying to bring back Rafal because she, in Lesso's words to Agatha later in this story, "is almost as infatuated with him like Sophie was for Tedros, but worse. More dangerous. It was more than an obsession. She wanted more than his evil, evil heart. She wanted the rest of him, too, his mind, his body, his soul."
And what's Aric's goal?
Let's just say, don't worry about it because it's going to be disturbing and honest later on.
Back on track, Agatha wishes for Tedros like before, and he hears it, leading to him waking up and asking for Agatha, which Aric hears and orders the death warrant on Sophie.
They get to the school, have the conversation from the book, including what I added in the first part of this rework, and even mention the shield put up and how Kiko, poor, brave Kiko, who decided to taunt the boys more with the notion of "boys can't hit girls," the notion Aric broke.
The teachers only think it was Tedros because he's the "leader" of the boys, and because in some talks with him before this HUGE divide, where he was irritable and snapped at them when they tried to see if he was okay after Agatha and Sophie disappeared to Gavaldon.
With that, the schools began to divide more, getting more and more violent with each confrontation until they weren't allowed to be together at all, not even during lunch and dinner.
Lesso and Dovey explain how Agatha has to make Tedros see what he's doing, and get her Ever after so things go back to normal, including leaving Sophie either in the School for Good, like she'd always wanted, or back on Gavaldon, so she can't muddle with Agatha's and Tedros's fairytale anymore and so she can get something of a reality check.
We get the same events, with Sophie getting her symptoms and being manipulative of Agatha, up until Agatha meets Tedros for the first time in what feels like forever.
Sophie still ruins the moment, but there's tension in this moment.
Aric sees Agatha and is very slimey, trying to get her to turn around and leave, so he can manipulate Tedros further, but it doesn't work and a Tagatha moment happens, AFTER ARIC LEAVES.
Tedros thinks he's in a dream when he sees her and hugs her really close, because he's missed her.
They have a conversation about how they mossed each other, and Agatha relays to Tedros the rumors about how he is basically going crazy and a becoming a homicidal maniac for hunting down Sophie and hurting Kiko.
He reveals that it's actually NOT HIS FAULT, just as she predicted and knew, but the fault of Aric.
"He probably went behind my back to do it, too. I kept telling Tristan to keep an eye on him."
"Why didn't YOU do it? Why didn't you do anything? You're their leader, surely you can..."
Tedros shows her the paintings and stories and a map he's been working on and explains that there wasn't a single moment where he stopped looking for her. He then asks her why she chose Sophie.
"I get it, if you love her, I mean." (Clenches a fist as he waits for that final blow, for his true love to say she loves her friend more than him. Whatever her choice, he'll accept. He doesn't want to trap Agatha; the only goal he has with her is making her a happy person, and if being with Sophie is that, so be it.) "You always were so close to her. I won't stop you."
(Agatha takes his hand.) "I chose wrong. I wasn't happy in Gavaldon. I missed the school, I missed the magic, I missed all the stupid princesses." (She grips his hand, avoiding his eyes because she's crying.) "I missed you. I missed you so much."
They go in for a kiss, but Sophie casts her spell like before, except she hits Tedros's eyes and temporarily blinds him. In defense, he shoots a spell close to the desk and screams for Agatha to run before she gets hurt.
Sophie escapes, Agatha is forced to leave after a casting a healing spell to Tedros, and Aric bursts in to see a heartbroken Tedros, the window open, and a dove flying back to the School for Girls.
"I told you. Keep that one alive and she'll take everything away."
"Shut up." (Tedros walks away with his hands running through his hair.) "Just shut up and stop talking. We've... You've done enough! ... That's it. We're done with all of this."
Tedros walks over to the desk and starts writing a note for Dovey and Lesso that he's relinquishing his status as leader and wants to call a truce between the two schools, the terms being that Agatha can stay with the two teachers until things are resolved between the schools and she and Tedros can live their Ever after and Sophie can go free with no worry about being hunted down, but she must stay out of both the school for good and evil, FOR GOOD. As in, she cannot come back at all. She can send letters, but she is not allowed anywhere near the schools, or Tedros, or Agatha.
He goes to deliver the message himself, but Aric keeps getting in front of him and claiming HE will give the messge to Dovey and Lesso.
Tedros barks back that he'll do it himself because he can't trust Aric, seeing as how he put a bounty on Sophie's head, which she doesn't deserve, even with all of what she's done.
Aric tells him off for ignoring the danger he's in for keeping BOTH Sophie and Agatha alive, as it was Agatha that attacked him.
Tedros reiterates that Agatha's finger glow is not pink, as she hates that color more than anything else, and pushes past Aric to let him give the letter to Dovey and Lesso so all this nonsense can end.
"Do you really think they'll let you near their school? They still think you attacked that one pigtailed girl; looked like a pig herself, now that I think about it."
"YOU attacked Kiko, and they'll know you did."
"Good luck trying to tell them that." (Aric watches Tedros walking away to hand deliver the letter.) "They all still think you've lost your mind, the boys, the girls, even the teachers. Do you really think you'll be able to just walk in, hand them a piece of paper, and walk out like everything's going to be okay?" (Tedros stops walking, frozen.) "Agatha thinks you attacked her, or that you were about to, anyway. She's not going to want to be anywhere near you after what happened."
Tedros reasons that instead of walking, he'll send a bird. Aric pats him on shoulders as a way to say, "good choice," and switches out the note Tedros wrote with one HE wrote, which is the declaration of war we see in the original story.
Agatha does get that note, though it is sent by an actual bird rather than by arrow; Aric reasoned to Tedros that it wouldn't discourage any animals behind the morgrif shield.
Shit hits the fam as the male professors wake up, take away Tedros's head master status, and then have him imprisoned for tampering with and hiding the Storian, even risking having the boys be slaves to girls.
Tedros tries to tell them that Aric wrote that letter and caused all if this, but Aric, in a huge, "fuck you" moment for the reader to feel, asks Tedros if he was the one that stole August Sader's paintings, hid the Storian, and fired the arrow WITH the note tied to it.
This is proof enough for the teachers, and they leave Tedros to go hungry for the night, telling him that he'd better be ready to tell the truth before Evelyn gets her hands on the storian.
The pieces side into place in Tedros's head and he glares at Aric.
"How much of it was a lie?"
"Enough. Did you really think that I'd follow a sap like you because you were doing something worth the time of day?"
(Tedros delfates a little bit, but stays strong to ask one question.) "Why?"
"Why not? You might not know how it feels because everyone loves you, boys, girls, even the teachers. News flash, your highness: people only want to be near you because of who's son you are. Without your crown, your friends, your stupid witch princess, who do you think you are?"
Aric leaves Tedros in the dungeon, sorrowful and more broken now than ever before.
