Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (distributed in the United States, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) is a 2001 film directed by Chris Columbus, written by Steve Loves, produced by David Heyman's and distributed by Warner Bros., film adaptation of the book of the same name, first episode of the Harry Potter series, written by British author J. K. Rowling.

The story follows Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts, after discovering he is a famous wizard and where his magical education begins. The film features Daniel Radcliffe in the role of Harry Potter together with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The film had seven sequels, the first of which was the Chamber of Secrets.

Warner Bros. bought the rights to the book in 1999 for a reported value of 1 million. Production began in the UK in 2000, with Columbus chosen to direct the film from a list of directors that included Steven Spielberg and Rob Reiner. Filming for the film took place both at Leavesden Film Studios and at historic locations in the UK.

The film was also nominated for several awards, including the Oscars for best soundtrack, best production design and best costumes.

Omg the second episode of del toro’s curiosities was so scary. A gravehunter digging up graves to rob from the dead and take their belongings to get money for it. One little problem... the rats that are stealing these corpses. The gravehunter goes underground into a maze ( very claustrophobic!) to hunt down the rats to get back his treasures. This episode has also, i recognized him instantly!, kevin keppy! Playing this dead corpse... So far i love it. Rupert grint and andrew lincoln will also star in one of the upcoming episodes! The stories take place in the past and modern times. I also love the subtle little nods to guillermo’s other movies in these episodes.

At the cost of potentially incurring the wrath of certain people, I will say - I find the stagnation strange. And by stagnation, I mean that in the truest sense of (thankfully) being on the outside of it all.

I never was one for fandom drama. The few examples I have experienced first hand in the thick of it has put me off to ever delving farther. And thereby, keeping my distance. But I will say: I find the stagnation strange. I have read and watched and listened to a great deal of media, and I am grateful that my obsessions over each have never been a permanent stay. I have Gems I hold dear, such as Castlevania (the games), DMC, VME, and a good few others that I will play, listen, or read to revisit in my library - but holding so painfully steadfast to one singular media for decades is... robbing people of so many great stories and experiences.

I was *completely* obsessed with Inuyasha growing up. But I can't say that I would go to the dirt defending it. Regardless of the authors (putting that aside for just a moment) we should want new stories, experiences and to share them, too. I read the first Harry Potter book and I enjoyed it. I grew up with the craze and was interested. I understood the hype, it was kind of like we grew up alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. That in of itself was special, even if it was vicarious and parasocial. To many of us also poor children it spoke to the ideal that we too could be something great, even if our upbringing or current living situation made everything so bleak. And so it seems for a great many, they have clung to this (speculating here) in lieu of actually moving on to those great things and new experiences.

If anything, I feel like people who are desperately clinging to the IP of Harry Potter need to question themselves if they are clinging to nostalgia, lost dreams of their own (such as thinking you can't be something great once you're "passed your prime") or something maybe even deeper. And others.... that sadly and simply agree with JK Rowling's views but do not want to plainly say it aloud.

Wanna hear a shitty movie idea?

It's a crime/comedy movie about two rivaling crime robbing syndicates trying to beat each other to the same deals. Pretty generic, right?

The twist is that they don't really know anyone on the other side of the war and one day, the top agents go to steal the prize jewel, run into each other and end in a fight that results in their masks being taken off.

Turns out, the two groups are clones of each other and all the main ones are played by actors that are always confused because they look so similar.

it was all a dream

I was going to answer my usual morning ask but today I woke up from a Twilight-related dream and I think you all might get a kick out of it, so I’m going to write that up instead. 

So I was somehow invited to a Twilight cast reunion that Rob was hosting (I know, Rob hosting a Twilight reunion is probably even more improbable than some internet rando like me being invited to it. Dream logic. Just go with it), and a good chunk of the cast and I were waiting around this parking lot for cars to take us to what we had assumed was a very fancy dinner at Rob’s. 

I can’t say for sure who exactly was there, other than that Kristen definitely was not, and Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Julia Jones, Edi Gathegi, and Kellan Lutz definitely were. I think maybe Chaske Spencer was there in the parking lot with us but quickly realized this was a terrible idea and bailed because I don’t remember ‘seeing’ him after that. 

Anyway so finally a bunch of golf carts (!) arrive to take us to Rob’s and when we arrive we are greeted by Rob, but not just any Rob, it’s Tracksuit!Rob, and we’re led into this small, dingy apartment where a long plastic table with plastic chairs has been set up that basically filled the whole room. I was sitting between Peter and Liz (maybe I subconsciously wanted Carlisle and Esme to protect me from whatever was about to go down?) and across from Rob. Mike Welch was at the end of the table on mine and Peter’s left. 

Rob brings out a big pot of “stew” and starts serving it to everyone and we’re all pretty leery about it because it looks weird and unappetizing and Rob seems to have made it himself. 

At some point, whoever was sitting next to Rob leaves, and Rupert Grint shows up and takes the empty seat, saying something like “oh I never miss Rob’s stew!” 

And I look at him and say, “wait. .. you’re weren’t in Twilight.”

And he goes, “sure I was. I was that human kid, Mike?”

At which point I look over at Michael Welch, who actually played Mike Newton, who is chowing down on Rob’s stew and looking SUPREMELY offended.

How do you know that Rob hates acting? Did he talk about it somewhere?

I would not be surprised if he quits acting and just earns his money with writing tbh. He seems to like writing a lot.

He did talk about it back around when his book came out last year. I think he's incredibly burnt out especially after season 3 of TUA. What took normally 3 months or so ended up nearly 9.

He used to film 3-4 things at once which can be mentally taxing. I think with all of the big budget "failures" he was in or missed out on made him wary too. For a long while he and Rupert Grint were working on a Netflix tv series, but I think with everyone "growing up" and marrying and having kids it's shelved what he was looking forward to.

I wish he had faith in himself and did some indies or adaptations. I don't want him to just be Klaus when he has so much to offer still.
