Propaganda under the cut.
Samantha Groves AKA Root:
She's a hacker that starts off as an antagonist and even kidnaps a main character, and tortures some people. She ends up saving the world from an AI takeover/apocalypse. She's a self proclaimed psychopath and worships The Machine, a true AI she considers a god. She's a lesbian and in love with another main character Shaw, who she also kidnaps at some point (but Shaw shoots her so they're even). She is a girlboss because she's an extremely competent hacker and is very good with a gun. But she also has her goofy and useless lesbian moments. She's such an interesting and layered character.
Raphaella la Cognizi:
She’s a scientist! She’s a little unethical times, but it’s all in the name of science, so certainly it must be okay. She sails on a spaceship called the Aurora with a crew of space pirates who sing about tales that they’ve both witnessed and potentially played a part in. She also has an absolutely gorgeous singing voice.
she does all of the science. all of it. yeah some of the stuff she's done is unethical but sometimes that's what's needed for information! also she has wings and can sing really well (listen to the mechanisms im begging). and then she jumped into a black hole when she died which is just a cool as hell way to die honestly. also she's an immortal space pirate and plays the keyboard. or uh. past tense because canonically she's dead. but also canonically the crew exists outside of chronological time which means she's alive in my heart forever <3

thinking about Root staying in her hometown until her mother died. seeing the man who killed her friend every day. going to the library where it happened. the librarian glaring at her. passing the new concrete patio and knowing what was under there. I know we talk a lot about her unwavering loyalty later in the series but god how much must she have loved her mother to do that.

Like, I know that John Reese is the big scary guy and Root is scary smart and Shaw is just plain scary, but honestly the most unsettling thing in the entire series to me, was watching Harold metaphorically say, "fuck it," and throw his rules out the window, because Samaritan didn't play by rules and he knew he couldn't either. To watch this incredibly intelligent person just literally take his empathy, his compassion for the lives of others and casually set it aside to do what needed to be done... Just, damn...
Knowing the kind of monster he could've been, had he not lived by those rules... THAT, my friends is fucking scary. It's a good thing he fights for good instead.

Person of Interest is my favorite show even this many years after it concluded
And the fans online have made the BEST EDITS
Here is one that I am obsessed with? The way that the scenes are spliced together with the song lyrics and the lines from the show?? Specifically Root on the building ledge almost falling right after a clip of Shaw saying “you know that thing that made you flinch?” Follows up with “I don’t get that”
ITS SO GOOD I CANT EVEN
I am just obsessed with the number of clips they had to splice together to make it so fluid—WHAT MAGIC GOD DID THEY HAVE TO SACRIFICE TO??

GOD ok I have to ramble
My dad and sis started watching Person of Interest about a month ago, and I wasn't there for the first but, and sometimes I'm not there to watch with them, but GOD. THERE'S THE QUEEREST VIBES?? BETWEEN THE 5 MAIN CHARACTERS (3 DUDES, 2 WOMEN), THE WOMEN KISS AND 2 OF THE DUDES GO UNDERCOVER AS A COUPLE MULTIPLE TIMES.
A BYSTANDER MAKES A COMMENT TO HAROLD ABOUT HOW GOOD-LOOKING JOHN IS, AND HAROLD JUST?? DOES A LIL EYEBROW ACTION?
anyway this is hilarious to me because of the actually super queer vibes and my ultra-religious homophobic family doesn't seem to have picked up on them EXCEPT to barf at Shaw and Root kissing.
But now Root is on the warpath to find Shaw because she *has* to be alive.
And my family's too invested in this series.
So (my parents especially) now they have to watch the rest of the show. Trying to convince themselves that Root on the warpath to Shaw is just gals being gals and it's HILARIOUS.

Charlotte "Lottie" Matthews was submitted without propaganda.
