Mkay, so I just woke up & I feel like spitting some facts today while I’m still in my BATDR hyperfix, especially since I’m pretty sure not a lot of people have this idea as well & I wanna get it out there somehow.

So…

The Ink Demon is like… written SO fucking well in this game, or at least as I interpret it.

& I figured this shit out like GRADUALLY.

The first tid bit that hit me like a fucking truck was how CANONICALLY the Ink Demon is in DESPERATE need of any kind of love and affection. While it’s hinted at a little bit in the games, the smoking gun comes from the VOICE ACTOR FOR INKY HIMSELF Sean Crisden.

Yes, I looked through his entire Twitter to find this again just to prove I’m not insane.

Like… even if Sean isn’t caught up entirely on the lore, there’s no reason he would say this only knowing the Ink Demon through his lines. After all, my guy has to be told about the character to voice him, so for him to address this pretty much makes it as close to being confirmed officially as we can.

The second thing that hit me like a truck was the YouTuber Pastra’s review video on the game, where he details how the Ink Demon’s mocking in the last chapter is towards HIMSELF, not Audrey, & he’s just projecting all HIS shit onto her.

Not even I caught this, since I always thought Inky was right about the “your life is a lie” thing due to her not being fully human.

But then Pastra emphasized the “mistake” bit. Audrey wasn’t a mistake, far from it. The Ink Demon, BENDY, was. HE was a mistake, born solely to be a living mascot to entertain, & when he came out WRONG, he was locked away, neglected, abandoned by the man who created him.

So he looks at Audrey, someone who was made by the same man who made him, someone who was treated so much better because of how she came out “perfect”, & tries to bring her down on the same level as he is by berating her.

& while this is stretching a bit, him comforting her at the end feels a bit like he’s trying to comfort himself, tricking himself to believe there is SOMEONE like him, someone who was ABANDONED & lied to, & thus giving Audrey the opportunity to live so he can indulge in that comfort.

It’s a BIG stretch, but god DAMN is it a gut puncher!

Like I’m sure he also did it to manipulate her & shit, but like… he can have MORE than one reason to do shit, & if he really did try to comfort himself like that, if that really is true… then I’m gonna fucking sob, man.

BUT THAT IS NOT FUCKING ALL!!

Cause I got ONE MORE mind blower I had, mainly (but not entirely) on my own after that one!!

& it has to do with Baby Bendy.

A LOT of people think Inky got his mind split in two when he was imprisoned as Baby Bendy due to how different he acts around Audrey.

But I beg to differ.

I think the Ink Demon is ABSOLUTELY still conscious & in control as Baby Bendy. He just couldn’t do shit to anyone before Audrey came about & accidentally freed him (cause I am ALSO subscribed to that theory Pastra addressed in his video), so he just minded his own business.

Perhaps his new emotional responses spoken of in the Keepers’ tapes come from him being more powerless & vulnerable where the only thing he COULD do was cry.

& the reason he acts so friendly towards Audrey once she meets up with him near the city? Because she was kind to him, she actually gave a shit about him. She apologized to him about hurting him & wanted to take care of him.

NEVER in Inky’s life has he EVER had someone genuinely care about him & his well being, something he always wanted from ANYONE but never got. So when he finally has that opportunity with Audrey, he jumps to it, going along with it, even if he desperately didn’t want to visit the Gent labs again.

More evidence of this is detailed in a post by @jupiter-jellies titled “Ink Demon VS Vesty” which I really like (I apologize for the tag, I don’t know if there’s an easier option to showcase the post itself, but I still wanna credit you nonetheless) as it makes sense of the sequences of events that happen from when Baby Bendy first joins your party to when he disappears & the Ink Demon comes to stop you from entering the Keepers’ area. Seriously, that shit blew my mind when I read it cause it explains WHY Baby Bendy went missing & why the Ink Demon would try to stop Audrey from going THERE in particular.

It just makes sense that the Ink Demon was still HIMSELF in both forms, he just acts differently to compensate for his lack of powers & to be given the love & affection he always wanted.

… But then it gets sad.

Cause the more I thought about it, the more fucked up it became. The ONLY time the Ink Demon EVER got someone to reach out to him & make him feel cared for… is when he’s in a “perfect” form. Only when he was cute & innocent & TRAPPED against his WILL could he be EVER loved, that if only he came out RIGHT in the first place, then he would DESERVE all the love that Audrey offers him.

If Joey & the others neglecting & abusing him when he came out wrong when he was JUST created didn’t solidify this idea in his head, Audrey treating him like a friend in his “perfect” form & an enemy in his true form DEFINITELY sealed the deal to him.

& it only gets worse.

I was re-listening to Joey talking to Audrey at the tail-end of the game to try & snap her out of the dark mindset Inky put her in when I realized something.

The Ink Demon was RIGHT THERE, listening to his abuser talk directly to AUDREY the ENTIRE TIME, telling her how she was loved & how she’s not this monster, that she was his pride & joy, his ONLY success…

& that PISSES Inky off.

In INKY’s point of view, only after Joey had a creation that WASN’T an abomination did he suddenly have a change of heart, that all it took was to get something he always wanted to be a better person as he completely ignores his biggest mistake that was RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.

That… has GOT to sting, really bad, to feel abandoned AGAIN in favor of the “better sibling” that Audrey was.

I have a feeling that he didn’t crush Joey SOLELY so he couldn’t get through to Audrey. I think he also did it because he couldn’t take LISTENING to him talk like this anymore, to be reminded that he was a failure that didn’t deserve the love that Audrey got, & lashed out to shut Joey up.

This is ALL very headcanon-y, but… it really does paint the Ink Demon in a more complex & tragic light.

The Ink Demon was NEVER just a mindless monster that killed whatever it wanted on sight. He was capable of emotion, & he could’ve potentially been capable of being something so much more if only he got the proper care & reassurance he DESPERATELY needed.

& GOD I love his character for it, he’s my favorite character in the game BY FAR because of this, GOD I hope this is canon so I can give massive props to the writers for this game!!

I'm a cynical person but...Bendy and the Dark Revival is pretty damn good. It's infinitely better than its predecessor on nearly every level, but also stands very well on its own. I really enjoyed the final boss sequence(s) and I'm happy with how they left things nice and open-ended for another game, and I hope they take as much time as needed to make sure it's as well done as this game was!

Anyways, it's hard to come across x reader content for the inky boy. I just wanna kiss his teef, is that too much to ask? I am a teef kisser. Sean Crisden himself confirmed he's flirty.

Being what he is, charm either comes naturally, or he learned it. Either way it'd be hilarious if he fumbled when the flirting is returned, or he actually isn't that smooth. (At least not face to face.) The best he can do in toon form is a charming smile, finger guns, or leaning against something like he isn't 3ft tall, except he probably ends up slipping and falling over, as toon logic demands it for comedic effect.

An archangel and commander of the forces of Bethel.

Very strict and hard on herself and others, she will eliminate by force anyone who disturbs Bethel’s order.

Having absolute faith in God’s order, she is devoted to protecting and maintaining His will.

Shohei Yakumo (voiced by Ben Lepley in English, Tomokazu Sugita in Japanese)

“Humans need the will to survive at any cost. And those who lack that strength of will… no longer deserve to live.”

A mysterious man who stands in the way of the protagonist in Da’at.

A man of few words who calls himself the “exterminator of demons.”

His purpose and identity are unknown. He works with the demon Nuwa.

Nuwa (voiced by Laura Post in English, Ayana Taketatsu in Japanese)

“Whether I am there or not when Yakumo’s world comes to be is of no concern to me.”

Goddess in Chinese mythology. She has been working with Yakumo for unknown reasons since he was a child.

They arrive in the netherworld unexpectedly and confront the protagonist.

Mastema (voiced by Doug Erholtz in English, Wataru Takagi in Japanese)

“I am Mastema, an angel in service to the kingdom of light.”

A mysterious archangel and member of Bethel.

Says that he has received permission from God to tempt humans and test their faith.

■ Demons

In addition to the demons that appeared in Shin Megami Tensei V, this title features more than 270 demons, including new demons newly drawn by character designer Masayuki Doi and demons from previous titles!

Nahobeeho (Fairy)

Jack Frost in a new form, resembling the Nahobino.

He loves snowy mornings and hopes to one day create a world made of silver.

Amabie (Enigma)

The game’s new demon.

A Japanese yokai that is said to have appeared in Higo Province during the Edo period, it is said to have emerged from the glowing sea and prophesized to the people.

■ System

The Parallel Ravaged Tokyo: Da’at

The story takes place in the Tokyo we know and the parallel world of Da’at. Demons roam in this vast netherworld, attacking the protagonist.

Da’at varies greatly in aspect from place to place, from desolate deserts and collapsed buildings, to areas lined with surreal geometric structures. Each location may contain different demons, often with tricky terrain that you’ll need to use your wits to navigate.

In Canon of Vengeance, Da’at includes a sprawling new area, Shinjuku ward will become available to explore.

—Various demons roam Da’at, blocking the hero’s way.

—Discover the mysteries of Shinjuku ward. A sacred atmosphere created by a huge object that resembles a great tree.

Netherword Exploration

Da’at is interspersed with a variety of elements, some of which will obstruct the hero’s path, while others provide advantages in his Da’at exploration and combat. Explore every corner of the vast netherworld by using these new features.

—Magatsuhi Crystal

Magatsuhi Crystals present in Da’at can be collected to provide various benefits. Green crystals recover HP, yellow crystals recover MP, and red crystals will increase the Magatsuhi Gauge.

—Magatsu Rail

This path formed of Magatsuhi connects and allows for travelling between the two locations in Da’at. Activating it not only provides a shortcut to a specific location, but also allows the user to navigate to hidden locations that are normally unreachable.

—Abscesses

Occasionally, there are large red obstacles growing in the path of the main character.

This obstacle is known as an Abscess. Powerful enemies appear in the vicinity and attack the protagonist. Defeating Abscesses will awaken new Miracles.

—Magatsuhi Demon

Demons cloaked in an aura of Magatsuhi will sometimes spawn in Da’at, called Magatsuhi Demons

Unlike normal demons, they are dangerous enemies with powerful skills, but may drop valuable items if defeated.

Da’at Exploration

Da’at is interspersed with a variety of elements, some of which will obstruct the hero’s path, while others provide advantages in his exploration and combat. Explore every corner of the vast netherworld by using these new features.

—Relics

Relics can be obtained from vending machines scattered throughout Da’at. Take them to Gustave, who will exchange them for Macca.

—Demon Navigator

Demons that accompany the main protagonist and support him in his exploration. They do not participate in combat, but will search for items, Magatsu Rails, and other useful items on the map and notify you.

—Treasure Chests and Amalgams

Yellow objects will give you items and Macca, and silver objects will give you Glory. Both are useful for adventures, so keep your eyes out.

—Aogami Husks

Aogami’s Essences can be obtained by examining the husks of Aogami scattered throughout Da’at. Once the husks has been examined, the Essence can be obtained again by after a certain time has passed.

—Demon Haunts

The Demon Haunts can be visited by accessing the leyline founts connecting the various regions of Da’at. In the Demon Haunts, the protagonist’s demons appear and gather, and the player can enjoy interacting with their allies by conversing with them and giving them gifts, as well as viewing them up close and taking photos.

In addition, special conversations may occur regarding game progressions, such as battles and field exploration, and these may offer rewards such as items or status enhancements of demons.

If you see a conversation notification in the menu, why not visit a demon haunt!

You can have conversations not only with your demons, but also with Aogami. Some of these conversations may lead to stat and ability bonuses for the Nahobino!

—Cadaver’s Hollow

The Cadaver’s Hollow shop is accessible via leyline founts. You can pay Macca to purchase items or sell Relics you have collected to Gustave.

Gustave (voiced by David Errigo Jr. in English, Yusaku Yara in Japanese)

The keeper of Cadaver’s Hollow with an interest in human-era items. He will buy any Relics found within the netherworld.

Gustave will reward you for locating Miman, his relic-seeking pawns, when you report back to him with the number you have found. The number of Miman determines the type of reward.

Discovering Miman will also help you obtain Glory, which is necessary to learn Miracles. Be on the lookout for hiding places throughout the netherworld.

World of Shadows and Demon Fusion

The World of Shadows can be accessed via the leyline founts.

With help from Sophia, the ruler of the World of Shadows, you can perform a Fusion to create stronger demons.

Aside from a two-demon fusion, there are fuse by result that allows you to choose a resultant demon, a special fusion that can be performed by choosing from two to four demons, or an Essence Fusion that utilizes Essences to lower or increase the ranks of the same race.

Most skills can be inherited by other demons through fusion, with the exception of a few select special skills.

Sophia (voiced by Erin Yvette in English, Sayaka Kinoshita in Japanese)

A mysterious being who rules of the World of Shadows. Her introduction states “I have come from a plane bar beyond this one to act as a guide to both the world and the Nahobino.”

There are multiple ways to create new and powerful demons: two-demon fusion merges two demons of your choice, fuse by result allows you to determine which demon you want first, a special fusion performed with up to four demons, and Essence Fusion, which uses a demon’s Essence to provide additional bonuses and skills.

Ok. Fnaf movie news just dropped with some people cast even if we don't know as who.

As for Bendy, I’m terrible at picking actors sometimes. If I could go back in time to pick, I would say Gregory Peck for Henry and Vincent Price for Joey. But for modern times, I’ll list some just for fun.

Bendy: voiced by Sean Crisden, of course. He did an amazing job in Dark Revival.

Henry: George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan, or Timothy Olyphant.

Something that just popped up into my mind and I'm not sure has been asked before but do you have head cannon voices for your own versions of Eddie, Venom and Peter for how they would sound like?

Like what voice actor would you pick that would suit your takes on these characters.

I've never been asked this before, but I'm very, very, very happy to be now ♥

Okay okay, so here's the thing. I DO have choosen VAs for them. However!

Said VAs are Polish so it's going to be an absolutely useless information for virtually anyone who isn't me

I've choosen those VAs for a specific versions of them for an AU that I've never brought up here, because I just can't find the time to at least finish the character designs for the main Spidey cast (like coffee bean gang, main vilians etc) and some fake cover poster. (The AU functions in my head as "Another Cartoon Reboot AU")

That being said, here they are.

For Peter, I'm 100% decided that Marcin Hycnar would be the perfect choice. (He's an actor best known from being the VA of Po in Polish dub of Kung Fu Panda.) Peter needs a voice that's a bit on the higher side, boyish, energetic and a bit annoying; when you hear it you have to anticipate 100 puns per hour and some goblin, scoundrel energy. However, his VA would need to also be able to pull off moments of incredible softness and gentleness. And Hycnar is great at both of those things!

Eddie on the other hand... Eddie is a nightmare to find a VA for. You see, for him I want a pretty uncommon combination; it has to be a voice that's obviously rather deep, but he has to be able to sound both playful, arrogant, like someone certain he's very charismatic but his idea of charisma is being loud and overstepping boundries, and grumpy, cold and meanacing. ALL the while being able to ALSO introduce a little bit of that himbo-sweetness and even childishness at times. I can find VAs that are great at one part, but not the others. My best choices for now are Marcin Dorociński (known for the role of Metroman in Megamind), Krzysztof Banaszyk (lots of experience, among other things, Octavius in Night at the Museum) and Przemysław Bluszcz (assigned voice of Ulysses Klaue). The problem is that Dorociński sounds too much like a charming handsome guy, Banaszyk sounds too serious and doesn't have the slightly maniac energy I'm looking for and Bluszcz's voice is too hoarse, and again doesn't have that aaalmost innocent charm. I'll keep looking tho.

Now... the Symbiote... Honestly, if I had the artistic freedom to do whatever I want with it, I would want to keep it as alien and inhuman sounding as possible. Some of the options are making it always talk in a distorted voice of its current host or rendering a voice for it (something wet, dripping, hissing and gurgling. Maybe a little like what Sean Crisden did for the Ink Demon in Bendy and the Dark Revival? but not really that deep or masculine). Still, my preffered option would be avoiding making the Symbiote talk, like AT ALL. Not that it wouldn't communicate, but if it absolutely has to talk, I would make it speak in silent movies style of cards, with text over abstract patterns like pulsating cells and such and distorted ambient noise in the background, something like a mix of tinnitus and quiet wet noises. Sorta like this

Depending on the perspective of the character to whom it's talking, it would change in how disturbing it would look. For example, this would be how the Symbiote's speach might appear to Peter. Eddie on the other hand might see it more like this (edit. I had an epiphany. For Eddie, Symby's words are written in the typewritter font)

(those were made pretty quickly and are far far FAR from perfect but I hope you can see what I mean??)
