Been thinking about what Mordred's life in Camelot would've been like if Merlin didn't hate him and then thought about how if Morgana was around she would probably always give him her favor at every tournament (until he married) and the other knights would tease him for that so have a broad outline for a Beloved Characters Dont Turn Evil AU

Morgana discovers her magic and Merlin swears to her that he'll protect her. He comforts her when she's scared and Merlin begs Gaius to share his knowledge and suspicions about Morgana to Morgana herself. One night Morgana bursts into their quarters in hysterics, waking them up, screaming and sobbing, and it feels like Merlin's hug is the only thing holding her together but its not enough. Glass starts shattering, candles flare, chandeliers fall to the ground. Gaius decides at this point not telling her will do considerable more harm than not, to both herself and others. They stay up through the night. Gaius speaking and Morgana asking questions, Merlin with a supportive hand on Morgana's shoulder. At one point Morgana tearfully asks the question Merlin asked Gaius long ago, "am i a monster?". They all fall asleep at the table, and that morning when Gwen arrives to wake Morgana only to find her absent with her blankets thrown over the bed and several things knocked over she runs and alerts the guards. The guards initiate lockdown and the commotion reaches Uther and wakes Arthur (Merlin is once again late), and they proceed to fear she was kidnapped right under their noses without anyone knowing. Arthur runs down to get Merlin so he can prepare him for the day only to open the door to find the three of them asleep on the table.

Later Merlin organizes for Morgana to learn more than Gaius can tell her from the Druids, but she intends to stay the night at least, if not then significantly longer (anywhere from a week to several months), and they have no good excuse for her to use that would allow her to leave without Gwen and guards. They come up with some very convoluted plan, which does not end up in the raid that occurred in canon, and when Gwen catches her sneaking back she lies and says she wanted to check up on Mordred (who she did run into), to see if he was with the Druid encampment that was rumored to be nearby (which he was). She didn't learn nearly as much as she hoped in those few hours, but they at least pointed her in a direction.

Morgause comes to town, and leaves Morgana her bracelet. After discovering it stops her visions Morgana takes it to Gaius, who reveals it was enchanted and looks similar to the one Lady Vivienne used to wear. Morgana states Morgause got it from her mother, but that Lady Vivienne was Morgana's mother and wonders how the bracelet ever got to Morgause. Gaius says there was a rumor that Lady Vivienne had a baby that displayed a affinity for magic, but Gorlois told Uther their baby had died before they even named her. Gaius reveals that the baby was smuggled out of Camelot and given to the High Priestesses, and Morgause might very well be that baby. Morgana begins to long for a connection with Morgause, to meet the sister she never knew of and recover something of her dead parents. When she begins secretly meeting Morgause, she tells Merlin and then asks him to come with her when she begins receiving lessons from her. Morgause tries to convince them that killing Uther is the right thing to do, but Merlin keeps reassuring Morgana that all they need to do is convince Arthur to change the law for when he is king, and he's not ready to do that now so theres no use in killing Uther before he's ready, and that she does love Uther and Uther does love her and would try to "fix" her well before he ordered her death. Morgause still wants him dead, to rush the prophecy of magic's return. Them sneaking out every few nights cements the idea that Morgana and Merlin are secretly dating in castle gossip.

Im not sure what happens with Morgause, but i think she would still take Camelot at some point and she would spare Morgana and by extension Merlin. Morgana and Merlin make sure to get Arthur out (and Merlin probably goes with him) because they dont trust Morgause to not kill him. Morgause reveals her heritage (and makes Morgana a Princess and her Heir) despite claiming the throne for people of magic and not the House of Gorlois, and the knowledge that Vivienne and one of her daughters were sorceresses leads Uther to believe he can not save Morgana from magic that is likely in her blood and THAT is what breaks his mental state. Morgana's real heritage is revealed soon after, with Uther informing Gaius that Morgana being a Princess is actually within her birth rights. Morgause continues Morgana's training because at some point Morgana has to become a High Priestess because canon. That or Morgause switches sides (this is a Beloved Characters Dont Go Evil AU might as well make it No Beloved Characters Are Evil AU) and she trains Morgana later after Arthur is a established King.

Morgause is overthrown and the Round Table formed. Arthur as well as several people in the castle know of or suspect Morgana of being a sorceress but he refuses to banish her, first believing it to have been out of her control (forced by Morgause) and later learning that her nightmares had been magic all along (how could he punish her for something he knows she had tried to get rid of for over a decade?). Perhaps he lets her keep the title of Princess, having always seen her as a sister (and someone who is compassionate for the people in a way royalty should be) and armed with the new knowledge of her being his actual sister. Everyone expects Regent Arthur to crack down on magic, its what Uther would have done and what the people want, so he does. Morgana becomes a advocate for magic, as she had been for Arthur in private as a Prince, and it scares people in the castle. They believe her to be working with Morgause, despite her arguments being for individuals' wellbeing and how punishments fuels hatred for Camelot. Several attempts are made on her life, many stopped by Merlin and Gwen and sometimes Lancelot. Arthur often "asks" Merlin for his opinion on magic and with Morgana's voice being public he feels okay with being straight with Arthur on what he thinks. Uther dies same as he did in canon: protecting Arthur from a assassination.

Mordred becomes a Knight because canon. Morgana is ecstatic to see him again and acts like a mother who hasn't seen her child in ages when she first sees him. Merlin has learned you often make the enemies that are destined to kill you (ex. trying to stop Morgana's visions from coming true) so he ignores Kilgharrah and doesn't hate Mordred (he is always wary though). Mordred alternates between childlike eagerness around the knights and following Merlin around while hero worshiping him (no one can figure out why. Their best guess is that Morgana is a mutual friend). In the beginning he kept messing up his name (calling him "Merlin" is just weird) and they often talk in their heads and therefore just stare at each other which has led to two conflicting rumors: theyre in love or they hate each other. Morgana often invites him to dinner, and when they dine with Arthur they easily slip into mind-talking (because chewing) and Arthur is convinced that they're making fun of him every time they do it. He protects Arthur when Merlin can't, often runs off to do side quests Merlin needs to do but cant get away to do, and often tags along with Merlin on his quests. Being able to share the knowledge of his destiny since Lancelot died (if he dies in this AU) relaxes Merlin's caution and allows him to be emotionally closer to him. Mordred enjoys being around Merlin and Morgana not just because he's Emrys and she's Morgana, but because they are the closest thing to home he has: they know what he is, they understand (bits) of his culture and make it possible for Mordred to share it with them, their individual magic sings strong enough to remind him of when he lived surrounded by it. He quickly grows to love them so very much and no one understands WHY. The knights tease him about it, and Morgana forcing Arthur to take Mordred on certain missions he isnt qualified for "so he can learn" does not help. Gwaine and Percival were planning to convince him that he couldnt compete in a tournament without a lady's favor because he's the rookie and his panicked look greatly amuses them only to find Morgana giving him her's before kissing his cheek. They were relentless after that, alternating between "lady's favors dont count if they're from your mom," "Mordred has a girlfriend," and whatever the medieval version of affectionately calling him "Bambi" is. Morgana sits in the stand's throne (since Arthur is competing) or besides it if Gwen is queen, and she flashes a smile at him when he comes out (Gwen too. He's a sweet kid with a baby face, of course he's one of her favorites. He also reminds her of Merlin when she first met him: kind, awkward, cute). This settles Mordred's nerves but has the unfortunate side effect of increased teasing. Merlin doesn't let it go to far, he never does, and gives them a distraction before running back to Arthur.

And then magic is brought back to the land and Morgana continues the work of the High Priestesses and helps the rebuilding efforts and they're still adventures and problems, but everyone Lives Happily Ever After

Thoughts on Sword and the Scoob:

***Spoilers under the cut***

The Positives:

I thought this movie was better than Happy Halloween

Daphne dancing was cute. I also loved that Fred pretty much immediately joined in and then Shaggy and Scooby did too.

Liked the “I love your hair” joke

Daphne&Fred + “Knight in Shining Armor” moment = adorable

Fred’s knight outfit was easily my fav

I loved the montage of them all taking selfies. Super cute!

I actually really enjoyed King Arthur. I love the Gang, of course, but I’m also a sucker for a good ole sixth addition. His camaraderie with Shaggy was sweet. I also like the change-up that comes with the dynamics whenever the Gang befriends someone who isn’t as nice as they are.

Daphne’s A+ fighting, jousting, and archery was a pleasure to watch

Scooby saying that Fred was also his knight in shining armor 👌

Fred saying that he’s an artist when talking about how good he is at making traps

“Velma’s usually right about these things” 👏 Fred

Shaggy drinking respect women juice and saying women can do whatever they want and also that some are scary 😤👍 my boy

Velma letting Daphne be Ariel and sit where she wanted on the Dragon 🥺

King Arthur’s cute little reflection about whether Shaggy was his mate or not and then saying he was at least the closest thing he ever had to one. I KNOW IT WASNT REAL GUYS BUT IT WAS IN MY HEAAART

I enjoyed the callbacks to all the previous media with the sleep gas fog

The Gang holding hands in a circle while falling toward the ground (though, I don’t understand how they went from being in the air to then landing safely on the ground — was the flying through the air thing a dream? they would have still been moved though, right?)

I thought the picture disappearing thing was actually cool and a neat way to raise the stakes. It’s nothing that hasn’t been done before but I wasn’t expecting them to implement it and I liked how it worked to move the plot forward in a way that felt natural. (Also Daph had it as her lockscreen, I’m 🥺)

Mystery machine wagon was cool

I thought the gag with Arthur being happy Lancelot got beaten up was pretty good

Sidenote: Jason Isaacs killed it

A Few Negatives:

This movie along with the last few has been a bit over saturated I think??? I can’t tell if it’s me or my monitor or what but I feel like the colors have been turned up a bit lately. I thought this film wasn’t as bad as Happy Halloween (which had really bright greens, pinks, and oranges that were too much for my eyes) but still a little intense

Budget constraints in general mean the animation’s a little lower in quality but nothing that detracts from the viewing experience

Gaslight was not something I ever expected to hear in a Scooby movie. Writers were clearly not using the word in the same context as it’s most used nowadays but it still threw me for a sec

Really didn’t like Velma saying she only watched Thundarr for the abs. Seemed very un-Velma 😬 Also initially thought she was going to have cute bonding over books with the librarian lady but nope, definitely not where that went

Some of the dialogue was hard to follow, just a couple scene where the exchanges were a bit quick/oddly-paced. Also some of the jokes didn’t land for me but that’s nothing unusual, especially since this movie is FULL of humor so a few not doing it for me is expected, and mostly to taste. I have no doubt the film will make you laugh at least once if not multiple times (like it did for me) so 😉

Wish they’d handled the joke about Fred’s susceptibility just a little differently.

(Not a negative just a related note) But everything he said about his Dad. 😧 Very Concerned for my son

Forgetting to charge the phone was a little contrived but ultimately necessary and forgivable

I guess airline ticket prices were the real monster are along....

This was just a cute concept that got out of hand. WARNING for mentions of the pandemic, and altered life due to it. Ik a lot of people write fic where it doesn’t exist, so I just wanted to let you know in advance. Also, modern AU, if that wasn’t clear. Gwen/Morgana. Because I’m gay.

Wait. Morgwen roommates AU. Gwen’s ex-ish who she was still friends with has officially moved in with her boyfriend, and so she’s looking for a roommate. Lancelot (ex)’s new boyfriend Merlin has a brother who has a sister who is looking for a roommate! Why don’t you ring her up.

Gwen waits until the very last second because she doesn’t want a stranger to be her roommate, but rent’s due soon and she can’t make it on her own another month or she’ll have to start not eating.

So she calls up this Morgana girl that Is Lancelot’s boyfriend’s friend’s half-sister.

And she possibly falls in love over the phone. She has a very lovely voice. And Gwen invites her to see the place the next time Morgana’s available (because Gwen’s working from home in the pandemic, but Morgana is a service worker while she does grad school, so her schedule’s a bit more limited.)

When she shows up, Morgana is dressed in all black and this blood red lipstick that makes Gwen remember how bisexual she is, and she stammers through inviting her in, and it’s a little awkward for her, but Morgana seems to take it in stride. The all black outfit looks like something out of the best alt magazine she can imagine, but so much prettier because it’s all right there in front of her.

Morgana grins and looks like she knows exactly what she’s doing, then says, “I’ll take it.”

And then they were roommates, and Gwen had a crush. It was very unfortunate for Gwen, but Morgana gets a good laugh out of it. A private laugh, of course, because Morgana is kind enough not to laugh in Gwen’s face for her obvious crush. Especially when she’s nursing a significantly less obvious crush of her own. She doesn’t usually go for the hyper femme look that Gwen’s got going on, but it just suits her so well, and Gwen looks great in lavender and flowing tops with batwing sleeves.

They eat dinner together a couple nights a week when Morgana’s schedule allowed. Gwen’s got a knack for cooking, and Morgana’s better with baking (It’s chemistry, Gwen). So usually on days they eat together, Morgana puts some nonsense half-batch of baked goods together, and she and Gwen eat what they want while Morgana takes the rest in to work. (Really, no one pays service workers enough to handle human beings who are idiots. That’s the least she can do).

When they’re working in the kitchen together, it’s always this combination nightmare-dream scenario. Where everything is going fine and they’re working around each other like they’ve always belonged like that, except suddenly one of them (usually Gwen) gets a bit distracted, or flustered, and then the whole operation falls apart.

That might be a bit dramatic. The food only fell once. The baked goods sometimes also got over salted/chocolate chipped/floured or any number of things if Gwen bumped Morgana at the wrong time, but usually Morgana fixed it fairly easily. And she liked the challenge when it wasn’t easy, so it all worked out the same in the end.

“I’m could kiss you.” Morgana said, when the cranberry speckled lemon bread turned out much better than she thought it would. “I don’t know how you managed to drop an entire bag of dried cranberries into this, but you’re a genius.”

Gwen stuttered a reminder that it was an accident, which made Morgana bite her lip and offer Gwen a piece of the bread. Gwen tried to take it with her hand, but Morgana pulled back, just enough, and Gwen wrung her hands, worried her lower lip, before she leaned her head forward and let herself be fed.

It was actually really good.

“I think it’s got more to do with your skills than mine.” Gwen said after she’d chewed and swallowed. “What else did you add?”

“Bit of orange zest, orange juice, less sugar because the cranberries were sweetened, did some things with the ratios to alter the texture. It’s more like a cake than a bread, but I’m not complaining,” She smiled and offered another bite to Gwen, who took it delicately, trying not to brush Morgana’s fingers with her lips.

She failed.

And she didn’t miss the way that Morgana’s eyes flicked briefly down to her lips. Guinevere pulled back to chew and moved to wipe a crumb from the corner of her mouth.

Morgana tilted her head while she watched, seemingly fascinated.

“Come out with me tomorrow. There’s a silent socially distanced disco at the park. We’d have to bring our own headphones, but I've got a pair you can borrow.”

Morgana smiled a little wickedly at the bashful way Gwen tilted her head and tucked her hair behind her ear. “Yeah, okay.”

“Excellent.”

The silent disco turns to drive through coffee and a shitty movie back at home that they laugh at. Gwen makes popcorn (that Morgana adds way too much candy to) and Morgana carefully picks out the cleanest bits of popcorn to hoard on her lap until something she deems frustrating happens and she wants to throw them at the screen. There is a lot of popcorn on the floor, but it’ll be relatively easy to pick up. Morgana has made a habit of this behavior.

Gwen can’t help but watch her instead of the movie when the shouting and the popcorn throwing happens.

When the popcorn runs out and Morgana looks to Gwen, there’s a sparkle in her eyes. She looks so pleased with everything that Gwen just... kisses her.

It’s a quick kiss, a soft kiss, a stupid kiss. As soon as she does it she knows it’s a stupid thing to have done, but when she starts to pull back Morgana puts a hand behind her head and stops her when they’re barely an inch apart.

“Do you mean it?” Morgana asked, and Gwen swallowed hard, but nodded.

So Morgana leaned back in, and gave her a kiss to remember.

Gwen might have turned to Jello. The popcorn bowl was mostly empty when it fell over because of Morgana’s eagerness to be in Gwen’s lap. It didn’t even occur to Gwen to be concerned because Morgana’s lips were so soft, and her hands were somehow very respectful and absolutely everywhere. Gwen had no idea what to do with her hands, so she just put them at Morgana’s waist and hoped that was fine.

Morgana’s disco top (which she’d never changed from) rode up her stomach, and Gwen loved the feel over touching her skin almost as much as she loved the way that Morgana kissed her. Well, maybe not, Morgana was an excellent kisser.

The movie ended, but they didn’t really notice. They were sort of having a moment.

So, let's talk about Mordred. Am I the only one who thinks that Mordred is not really a villain and was justified in some things that he did? An anti hero maybe, but except in the version in which he is portrayed as a sadist sociopath (to make him unlikeable), he had reasons to be angry with the hypocrisy of the court and the way he was raised... Also, Do you know any good books focused on humanizing him?

Yes! The reason why I started collecting arthuriana, about 15 years ago, was because I was so curious about Mordred and needed to find good retellings of his motivations! I will gladly compile a list of good Mordreds.

Books where Mordred is the main character and is sympathetic even when he actually plays the role of the villain (but in some of these he is an anti hero or not a villain at all). In order of favorites!

The Winter Prince (Elizabeth Wein): this was my first Mordred book, and I adored it. It’s historical based, from Mordred’s pov (if I am not wrong) and about family drama.

Idylls of the Queen (Phyllis Ann Karr): this is another angsty Mordred and one of my favorite books. Here you don’t see the ending, so no Mordred killing Arthur yet, but Mordred is very well characterized.

The Great Captains (Treece): A Welsh inspired story of Arthur and his complex friendship and enmity with Mordred. They are friends, not related.

The Book of Mordred (Velde): This has three female characters narrating the story of Mordred.

I am Mordred (Springer): another book about Mordred, explaining why he did what he did.

The Wicked Day (Stewart): This book is all about Mordred and his life.

Mordred Manuscript (Norris Lacy): A short story about Mordred’s plans and his real intentions towards Arthur and Camelot.

A Camelot Triptych (Norris Lacy): Three stories of how Camelot ended, told by Merlin’s point of view, Guinevere’s and Mordred’s.

Mordred, bastard son (Clegg): the gay Mordred book! But it’s the first in a trilogy. I am pretty sure the second one is coming out soon or just came out. Mordred and Lancelot are lovers.

A Prince in Camelot (Jones): Mordred’s life and story, he is also seen pretty sympathetic and not a villain.

The Traitor’s Trilogy (Kenealy): This is a collection of short stories about betrayers. Mordred, Loki and Judas, the three traitors, are in Hell till Lucifer offers them a change to live again on Earth in exchange for a favor.

The Book of Mordred (Hanratty): this is pretty cute, and Mordred leaves for a quest with Galahad and Lancelot.

Camelot Lost (Jessica Bonito): I am not super in love with this book, also Arthur becomes sort of a villain.

Mordred’s Curse (McDowell): The story of Mordred and how he arrived, bitter and rejected, in Camelot to serve his king and father.

The Prince and the Programm (Mercer): You know… I love gay Mordred, but I remember nothing of this book, it was so confusing.

Mordred and the King (Curlovich): Mordred/Arthur. Mordred falls in love with Arthur. That’s it.

Now, for books where Mordred is a secondary character. This order is of how prominent Mordred is in the retelling:

The Road to Avalon (Wolf): A love story for Arthur and Morgana. Mordred is a secondary character, and absolutely adorable.

Queen of Camelot (McKenzie): A Guinevere novel, but Mordred is one of the main secondary characters and not a villain at all.

Guinevere trilogy by Persia Wolley: One of my favorite books/series. Mordred is a secondary character, there is clearly some friction between Mordred and Arthur, but he is seen in a sympathetic way.

Lancelot (Vansittart): The story of the Roman Lancelot in a world which is becoming more and more distant from the Roman traditions. Lancelot and Mordred seem to have something going on.

Morgawse (Lavinia Collins): When Morgause is sent to Camelot to spy on Arthur, she falls in love with him. Unfortunately they soon find out that they are related, and now Morgause has to protect her son Mordred and rule over Lothian alone, after Lot is killed.

Sword at Sunset (Rosemary Sutcliff): Okay, this maybe has villain Mordred, but such a well written character.

This post is long and I do not apologize.

Okay y’all quiz time! I’m curious, pay attention to me. Bored? Me? Never. IkeSen, IkeRev, IkeVamp or all three (max out the word limit, do it!). Feel free to answer all of these questions or whichever ones you like.

I’ll go first and subject myself to the mortifying ordeal of being known so I hope you will do the same!

I’m gonna answer about IkeSen!

1. When did you start playing?

I have absolutely no concept of time and cannot remember dates but it was between Kenshin and Mitsunari’s routes.

2. Who’s route did you play first/why?

Nobunaga’s route. I knew enough about the game to know his was one of the original routes and I wanted to start the game from ‘the beginning.’

He interested me and I could tell he was just enough of a 'bad boy’ for me to fall for. I am, unfortunately, cripplingly attracted to bastards.

That’s why I play otome games instead of dating real men.

3. Before you started playing/towards the beginning who was your favourite guy and why? Do you have one ultimate guy or absolutely cannot choose between multiple. Kinda ties in with questions 2, 4 & 5 I guess.

Though I liked Sasuke, I’ve never been hugely romantically interested in him, I guess my favourite guy (romantically) has always been Nobunaga. And that’s terrible.

4. If their route had been out when you first started playing would you have picked somebody else? Who? Why?

*Naruto voice* SASUKE!!!! He seemed interesting, handsome, funny(ish), KIND, and was the only one who wanted to help me.

He was also the only character in the prologue who wasn’t a jerk or Mitsunari (never been attracted to the ‘gentle angel’ type character) so he really seemed like the only option... but his route wasn’t out and thus I was forced to pick Nobunaga like I’d originally been planning anyway.

5. If that guy’s route is out now did it live up to your expectations? Why/why not?

Sasuke? Yes in both a good and bad way. The route was more interesting and entertaining than I’d expected it to be but I was not particularly into him before, I did not expect his route to change that and it didn’t.

6. Your favourite guy NOW. Is it the same person as it was at the beginning? If not, who is it? Why? How many favourite guys have you had? Do you keep changing your mind or are you irrationally devoted to one guy? And I mean romantically, not guys you like for other reasons.

7. Did a guy you expected to like disappoint you? Who? Why?

Masamune. I never thought he would be my all time favourite but I expected him to be one of my more liked guys both romantically and just as an interesting character. He isn’t. But it’s not like I hate the guy or anything he’s just not a fave.

8. Did a guy you never thought you’d fall for blow you away? Who? Why? Even if he didn’t ‘sweep you off your feet’ was there someone/a route you liked a lot that you didn’t expect to?

Route: Mitsunari. His route just kept me entertained, there weren’t bits where I lost interest or anything.

Person: Yukimura. I actually really liked him a lot in his route. Sweet, cute, romantic, interesting. Which is weird because I used to (and still do!!!) see him as one of the more boring characters.

Favourite IkeVamp guy: Shakespeare, fave IkeSen guy: Nobunaga, fave IkeRev guy: Lancelot... and Fenrir. Jerk, jerk, jerk... Fenrir.

10. Are you a romantic person or a dramatic person?

Dramatic. Even when I don’t want to be.

11. If you’ve read both a romantic ending and a dramatic ending for the same character is there any where you noticed one being significantly better than the other?

Kenshin’s dramatic ending is so much better than his romantic one it’s not even funny.

12. Do you feel any character is significantly less loved than they deserve? Why do you think that?

Stop sleeping on Hideyoshi! Cowards!

13. Do you feel any character is significantly MORE loved than they deserve? Why do you think that?

Kennyo. Mostly because I don’t much care for him at all so any love is Too Much.

Also Masamune, but again, it’s not like I HATE Masamune. I just don’t get the hype. Everyone’s different I guess.

14. What routes have you read?

Nobunaga: Dramatic, romantic, eternal. Kenshin, Ieyasu, Mitsunari, Yukimura: Dramatic, romantic. Hideyoshi, Sasuke: Romantic. Shingen, Masamune: dramatic.

15. WHO’S ROUTE ARE YOU ON RIGHT NOW?! What do you think of it? Have you read it before? Etc.

Mitsuhide’s. Predictably I have not read it before. I’m enjoying it but not as much as I thought I would. Mitsuhide’s was the route I was looking forward to most so anything less than complete perfection would be a letdown. And while it’s good, it’s not complete perfection.

The main character is my real issue. She seems more childlike than I ever remember her being. Is it just me?

Also tying into that, this is the only route I can remember her being consistently referred to as a ‘girl.’ Never a ‘woman’ always a girl. I know it happens SOMETIMES in other routes, Masamune calls you ‘lass,’ etc. But this time both the narrative and the characters seem allergic to the word ‘woman’ or something. That with her personality infantilize her a bit too much for me.

16. Fave route? Is it your favorite guy’s route or is there just a plot that you REALLY F*CKING LOVE even if the guy is not your favorite?

I actually really enjoyed Mitsunari’s route but I’m not romantically interested in him at all. Hideyoshi’s route was also a favourite.

17. Who’s route are you most looking forward to? Why? Again, you can answer for any game.

Shakespeare from IkeVamp. As for IkeSen... I’m not. Mitsuhide was the one I wanted. Don’t really like Kennyo, pretty neutral about the new guys.

18. Which guy are you most like? Why?

Jonah Clemence from IkeRev. But from IkeSen, Ieyasu. Because I’m salty. Though he’s really smart and I’m a complete dumbass.

19. Three guys/routes you love the most, why?

1. Nobunaga: bastard man, love of my life. The main character in his route does almost exactly what I’d do in her situation so it was a believable romance for me and he’s someone I could actually see myself falling for if I was magically transported into IkeSen rather than some of the others who I like but only because its a game and if I met them in real life we’d probably hate each other.

2. Shingen, another character I never expected to love, not big on flirts either, but he won me over. Still not sure why.

3. Hideyoshi. Just a damn good guy and a good route.

19. Three guys you like the most if they’re not the ones above, not necessarily the guys you fell in love with, just characters you like.

Number 1 guy is still Nobunaga both romantically and platonically.

2. Ieyasu. We’re too similar for a relationship between us to work but I adore him. That’s probably why

3. Kenshin. Funny 50% of the time, heartbreaking 50% of the time, interesting 100% of the time also just pretty to look at. An incredibly complex character with an interesting personality/relationships. But if you were to put a gun to my head and say “date Kenshin or die” I would say “pull the trigger.” Not romantically into him (or Mitsunari, or Kennyo) at all.

The psy-changeling series by Nalini Singh. A paranormal romance series. There are like, 20 books and still going with it’s own worldbuilding so it’s not light reading but I thoroughly enjoyed the books and I hope others will too. It’s written in English but you can also get it in at least a handful of other languages, Spanish and German at least.

Also the song Fire meets Gasoline by Sia is Nobunaga x MC’s song.

Red Army- Older Generation (Toddlers)

You can find my masterlist in my bio!

These are the Red Army kids that exist in the universe when Eden is 3 years old. They are the older generation because there are few more red army kids (like Zero’s kids, and younger siblings) that haven’t been born yet.

I will be adding information to these whenever I discover more about them!

Lancelot Kingsley:

Status: Married to Victoria Buckley

Home: Owns a large home near Red Headquarters; kids visit often but mainly live at their home

Kids: 2

Atticus Kingsley

Age: 6 Years Old

Appearance: Fair skinned, red hair, rich blue eyes. A little shorter than average for his age.

Some Facts:

Spends most of his time out of school at Headquarters with his sword instructor. This is his favorite pastime and he wants to grow stronger so that he can inherit the King of Hearts position from his father one day.

Hates any other lessons, like etiquette or dance, but he masters them quickly so he can go back to sword play.

Extremely smart and manipulative. He believes because of his status that he can boss every one else around, especially his staff at his home. Though, it typically only works on new workers.

He’s sent many nannies away over the past few years. They all tend to find him too hard to handle and quit within days.

His current nanny has become the exception. Annalise Perry has been the only successful nanny to corral the young Kingsley. Atticus adores her. She doesn’t chastise him for his pranks, instead usually finding them funny, but she does not let him boss her around either. Annalise will play swords with him and doesn’t mind getting out in the woods. She is one of the few adults he listens to.

Thoughts/Interactions with other Red Army Kids

Lyra Kingsley:

His baby sister that he doesn’t really care for. She can’t speak or play with him so she bores him easily. He doesn’t care for how everyone coos at her for being cute either, but secretly likes when he makes her giggle and smile.

Caroline Clemence:

Atticus likes Caroline for how easily bossed around she is. She always jumps at an opportunity to sword fight with him, despite her never beating him without him giving it to her. The two have been together since they were born. His least favorite thing about her is how stuck to the rules she is.

Jude Clemence:

Like his own sister, he is bored with babies and tends to avoid them if at all possible. He rarely sees the younger Clemence, unless Caroline drags him along.

Eden Bright:

When Eden was first brought to headquarters, Atticus was immediately interested. Since Eden is much younger and more timid than Caroline, he vowed to protect her, especially since she gets sick so easily. He refers to her at the Princess of Headquarters since she lives there full time. He hates to see her cry and wants to do everything he can to make her smile.

Beckett Ash:

Immediately sees him as a rival. Until Beckett arrived, he was the only boy with the two girls. He tries to assert his status over Beckett as soon as they meet. Atticus finds his niceness as weakness and picks on him often. Since Beckett is so level-headed and shy, he doesn’t fight back, giving Atticus the control and power in their relationship.

Sadie Ash:

Atticus really doesn’t know what to make of her, at first. He’d never experienced a girl like her. She always surprised him with how she defended her brother from his antics. Unlike Caroline, Sadie doesn’t care that he is the son of the King of Hearts and that is entertaining to him. He enjoys how angry she gest at him, and he often pins her to the floor during a physical fight and taunts about what she is going to do.

Thoughts/Interactions with Black Army and Neutrals:

Castor Oswald:

Occasionally sees him on the playground or at assemblies. Since he isn’t in his immediate circle of friends or his grade, Atticus pays little attention to him. He does think that Castor is boring since he rarely sees him with other children.

Sasha Hyde:

Atticus thinks that Sasha is very strange because of how often he sees her reading big, old books. He can’t boss her around like the rest of the class, nor does she fawn over him like the other girls, so Atticus is generally frustrated with every interaction he has with her. He wants her attention so badly that he tends to follow her around practically begging for it.

Valen Tweedle (Dean):

Not in his class, but plays with him at recess. His second in command during school hours. Enjoys having him around to follow his orders and play sword games or pirates. Atticus drags him into his shenanigans that land both of them in trouble. Even when sitting in time out, they make funny faces at each other and goof around.

Lyra Kingsley

Age: 1 Year Old in present

Appearance: Whispy blonde hair and sky blue eyes; most say she looks exactly like her father

For the purpose of telling her personality, the following information is based on Lyra being around 4 or 5 years old.

Some facts:

The reserved child, but still understands her status. She is nice to everyone and willing to help out.

Hates the idea of fighting and would never pick up a sword. Instead, she would rather solve problems by talking about it.

It rarely happens, but should another child pick on her, she always runs to her brother to protect her.

Doesn’t make friends easily because of her shyness.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions:

Atticus Kingsley:

She see Atticus as her protector and often follows him around, much to his displeasure. Their age gap puts a strain on their relationship at this age. She likes for him to tell her stories before she goes to bed.

Caroline Clemence:

Lyra believes that Atticus and Caroline are going to get married. She likes to let Caroline dress her up and play house with her. Although they are four years apart, Caroline dotes on her like she did when Eden.

Jude Clemence:

Being nearly the same, the two were always put together when the elder siblings went to school. They are best friends and go everywhere together. She finds him incredibly sweet and would rather play with him than anyone else. They are constantly playing hide and seek together in HQ and Jude brings her a flower every day as “a gift for the lovely lady”.

Eden Bright:

Closer in age than Lyra is with Caroline, the two don’t spend much time together. Lyra is similar to Eden in being a little clingy to her parents, but not quite so drastic as the young Bright. If Caroline is not around to get all the girls together, Eden and Lyra don’t play together. But, when all the girls get together, they can get along.

Beckett Ash:

Lyra likes Beckett a lot because he is so nice to her all the time, but Atticus doesn’t like the two of them being together. Beckett reads to her a lot and tells her about the things he is learning.

Sadie Ash:

Since Eden and Sadie become very good friends, Lyra doesn’t spend a lot of time with her. She doesn’t like how much Sadie and Atticus fight with each other, and she fears they’re going to hurt each often, making Lyra upset.

Other Interactions:

Since Lyra is so sheltered, she doesn’t see any of the other kids enough to have an opinion of them (at this age), but she is polite to every person she meets, but rarely talks unless she has to.

Jonah Clemence

Status: Married to Eleanor Atlas

Home- Owns a home near Red Headquarters; the kids live part time between home and HQ, due to Eleanor traveling overseas often.

Kids: 2

Caroline Clemence:

Age: 5 years old

Appearance: A mini Jonah. She has little features from her mother. Mint hair and amber eyes. The only difference in her and Jonah is that her mole is under the opposite eye, like Luka’s.

Some Facts:

Similar to Atticus in knowing exactly what her family name means and can do, but she isn’t very manipulative about it. She takes her surname very seriously and always follows the rules that are set for her. The only exception to this if she is approached by one of Jonah’s Heart Defenders, then she might abuse her power as a Clemence.

Unlike Jonah was raised, Caroline has a lot more freedom than he did. She gets plenty of attention, despite not being the current choice for the Queen of Hearts. Jonah is very protective of her, but also spoils her a little too much sometimes.

Enjoys being girly and rich- spends money as easily as her father.

Caroline has a fondness for sword fighting, but mostly because it’s one the only ways she can get Atticus’s attention.

She typically mimics Jonah and tries to speak in the way he does sometimes.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions

Atticus Kingsley:

Caroline adores Atticus and would do anything he asked. She has never beaten him in a sword fight but pretends that she has. All her skills come from his instruction. He told her it was because he wanted a sparring partner, but she took it as him saying she was special.

Lyra Kingsley:

As a baby, Caroline loves to take care of her along with her own baby brother. She is very motherly towards Lyra, even as they grow older. She tries to get Lyra to be more outgoing and always makes the others listen to her when she wants to speak.

Jude Clemence:

Her little brother might as well have been her own child. Caroline fully took her mother’s place anytime she was away. She memorized Jude’s schedule, knows what foods he can eat, and thoroughly loves sitting in the rocking chair and holding him while he falls asleep. As the two get older, she finds him to be meek but charming.

Eden Bright:

Her little sister. Caroline loves Eden so much. Any time she can spend with her, she’s there. She teaches Eden things that she learns at school and likes to read books to her when Eden is feeling sick. Before Beckett and Sadie arrived, Caroline had Eden following her around everywhere. Despite Eden spending time with Sadie a lot, the two remain close.

Beckett Ash:

Caroline doesn’t really mind him, but also goes along with whatever Atticus tells her, so she typically shuns him when Atticus is around. She admires how smart his is and when he joins her class in school, Caroline looks out for him.

Sadie Ash:

The enemy. Oil and water. Sadie stands up to Atticus and talks about him. Caroline isn’t fond her at all. Especially once Eden and Sadie start playing together. She sees her as disruptive, because Sadie doesn’t let her boss around Eden when all the girls are playing together.

Black Army/Neutral Interactions:

Caroline also only sees those in her school grade as Kindergarten doesn’t play with the older kids. The only other kid that Caroline knows well enough in the present is Finley.

Finley Godspeed:

Her biggest rival for Eden’s attention before Sadie arrived. Eden talks about Finley a lot because of all the presents she receives from her. Caroline greatly dislikes that and tells Eden that Finley is lying to her because they cannot get married. Her reasoning is that they live in separate territories. She bickers with Finley any time she sees her.

Jude Clemence:

Age: 11 Months

Appearance: Dusty brown hair and hazel eyes, very much like his mother has the porcelain complexion of Jonah.

For the purpose of this section, like Lyra, I’m aging Jude up to around 4 or 5 to give insight to his personality.

Some Facts:

Bashful child, unless he is with Lyra. He finds talking and interacting with the other kids tiring and would rather be alone with Lyra.

He brings Lyra a flower every day because he says that she is angel and he wants to see her smile.

Jude doesn’t like to talk, and his family thought that he was late in learning how to speak but he just chose not to.

Sometimes he is confused for being a girl, especially when he was a baby because of he took after his mother. He grew used to it, and because he didn’t speak up, many still refer to him a “she” by mistake.

Terrified of swords and fighting. He does not want to take lessons in learning swordplay, typically hiding away or sitting on the floor to protest.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions

Atticus Kingsley:

Jude finds Atticus’s outgoing and bossy personality scary and he tends to avoid him if at all possible. With their age difference, he doesn’t mind that Atticus that ignores him.

Lyra Kingsley:

The love of his life. Even at a young age and he doesn’t understand what love is, he is enamored by Lyra and would do anything to stay by her side. He likes to hold her hand and the two often run off together to play without other kids.

Caroline Clemence:

His big sister that he adores. Jude and Caroline play a lot at home together, and she is a good teacher to him. She is always willing to help him learn big words in the books he is reading.

Eden Bright:

He doesn’t spend much time with Eden when he gets to the toddler age. She is in school and tends to stick with Sadie. He doesn’t understand why she gets sick or why she gets angry when other kids want to be around her dad.

Beckett Ash:

As he grows older, Jude begins to see Beckett as the older brother he never had. The two are both on the shy side of the scale but share a love of reading. Jude doesn’t mind spending time with Beckett whenever he is around.

Sadie Ash:

Her brash and honest way of speaking scares him as much as Atticus does. He doesn’t like fighting so Jude is always the first to go running for help when Atticus and Sadie get into a physical fight, after he makes sure Lyra isn’t going to be hurt in the process.

Black Army/Other Neutrals:

Like Lyra, Jude is very sheltered in who he can be around at the toddler age, so he doesn’t know many of the other children in Cradle at this age.

Ezra and Valarie Clemence:

Unlike his big sister, Jude has never known a time before his cousins weren’t around. Since Ezra and Valarie were a secret for the first 4 years of their life, Caroline never knew them until she was older. Jude doesn’t mind his cousins but he still finds their personalities to be strong.

Edgar Bright

Status: Single

Home: Red HQ

Kids: 1

Eden Bright

Age: 3

Appearance: Brown hair and matching Jade green eyes, fair skin, very much like Edgar

Some Facts:

Her mother kept her until she was 2 years old, leaving her Edgar’s care for only a little over a year at the beginning of her story.

She is extremely clingy to Edgar, and jealous if any other kids take his attention away. It gets worse when she is sick.

Eden has weak lungs, so Kyle gives her breathing treatments. Her immune system is also low, making her sick more often than a normal child.

Overall, the sweetheart of the Red Army. She interacts with the other soldiers and in turn, they all dote on her. Eden is very polite and doesn’t get into much trouble.

Eden loves candy as much as her father and will sweet talk her way into getting sweets from the kitchen staff on a daily basis.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions.

Atticus Kingsley:

Her big brother figure. Once she settled into HQ with Edgar, Atticus would visit her with Caroline. She found him to be really nice and she likes when he pretends she’s a princess. The only things she dislikes is how fast he plays, and she tends to get left behind until Atticus notices her lagging.

Lyra Kingsley

Complete opposites. Eden doesn’t like Lyra when she is a baby because of jealousy. Any time Eden is in a room with Lyra, she will not let Edgar put her down to hold Lyra. It takes a long time for the jealously to subside.

Caroline Clemence:

Big sister figure. Eden loves Caroline to visit her and read her books. Caroline’s personality intimidated Eden at first but with time, she grew to like it. She spends the most time with Caroline and likes for the older girl to dress her up and fix her hair.

Jude Clemence:

It’s not often that Eden sees Jude unless Caroline takes her to him. She has mixed feelings about him, but in the end, she wouldn’t like for Edgar to give him any attention, so she stays away.

Beckett Ash:

Mostly friends by default. He stays with Sadie, therefore he spends a lot of time with Eden until he goes to school. Eden doesn’t mind him because he is typically very reserved and kind to her.

Sadie Ash:

Once Sadie arrives at HQ, Eden begins to play with her the most. Since Caroline has school, and Sadie is only 3 like Eden, the two get to spend a ton time together, especially since Kyle often looks after Eden. The two become really close. Eden likes the Sadie is patient and never forces her to play things that she doesn’t want to.

Black Army/Neutrals

Finley Godspeed:

Eden was absolutely terrified of Eden the first time that they two met. She grew to like Finley because of the attention and her persistence. Seeing how excited Finley gets to see her, the two begin an odd friendship. Eden looks forward to seeing Finley in town.

Kyle Ash

Status: Single

Home: HQ

Kids: 2

Beckett Ash

Age: 5

Appearance: reddish-brown hair and blue eyes

Some Facts:

Beckett like his father, is incredibly gifted. He taught himself basic first aid and treats all his sister’s wounds that their mother inflicts. He is typically spared her wrath because of his timid nature and he complies easily.

He has saved his mother from an overdose on many occasions despite her constant neglect of them.

Had to become the “parent” figure to his little sister and make sure she gets meals and bath every day.

Does not like to start trouble. Beckett is considered a suck up to adults because he does not want to rock the boat.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions

Atticus Kingsley:

Beckett finds Atticus to be overbearing and he tends to avoid him at all possible. He doesn’t like how much Atticus can rile up his little sister, but he rarely comments on how the Kingsley torments him.

Lyra Kingsley:

As a baby, Beckett doesn’t spend much time with her. But as she grows older, Beckett begins to like her because she is the opposite of her brother. She listens to him talk about his day and things he is learning at school. He is her honorary big brother.

Caroline Clemence:

Beckett has no ill will toward Caroline despite her mean behavior toward her when Atticus is around. He can see that she holds onto Atticus’s every word and he admires her for being so devoted to him. At school, he is always grateful for her assistance with his peers.

Jude Clemence:

When Jude grows older, Beckett becomes quite close to him. He was not surprised that Jude is as dedicated to Lyra as Caroline is to Atticus. He takes on Jude as his apprentice and teaches him big words and all the names of the flowers so he can impress Lyra.

Eden Bright:

He feels bad for Eden because of how easily she gets sick. He tends to follow Kyle around and help tend to her. He likes to take care of others so Eden is no exception. He takes extra precautions when they are playing outside to make sure Eden doesn’t overdo it.

Sadie Ash:

His little protector. Beckett adores his baby sister and chastises himself for not being able to keep her safe at their home. He wants to protect his little sister but typically she ends up protecting him, whether it be from their mother or the other kids that like to pick on him. He admires that she is so strong despite their situation. He wants her to find a place where she doesn’t have to fight for her right to live and for her to finally feel safe and loved by a parental figure.

Black Army/Neutrals

Lux Genetta:

He is fascinated with her, never met anyone with magic much less magic like hers. Beckett tags along with Kyle on his days out for working with patients just so that he can try and find Lux out and about. It isn’t often the two meet up.

Finley Godspeed:

He finds her to be most entertaining and genuinely a good person. He’s seen a lot of fakes in his life, but he is always astounded with how much Finley genuinely cares for those around her and makes an effort to make everyone happy.

Sadie Ash

Age: 3

Appearance: reddish-brown hair and golden eyes. She looks identical to Kyle. Some facts:

Her appearance being so similar to Kyle is why their mother hates Sadie so much. She resents Kyle and therefore takes it out on Sadie.

Strong willed and stands up to anyone who opposes her or her brother. She has issues with authority because of her terrible mother. Adults tend to set her into a spiral of rebellion.

She has burn marks and permanent scars from her abuse on her back and torso.

Sadie doesn’t like reading or studying like her brother. She would enjoy learning to wield a sword because it would be another way to protect herself.

Red Army Thoughts/Interactions

Atticus Kingsley: Oil and water. Sadie does not like him one bit. She wants to wipe that smug smirk right off his face and she tries her hardest. She fights dirty with him landing her trouble often. Lyra:

Sadie isn’t too fond of babies because of her 3 half triplet half siblings that keep her awake at night screaming and crying. She steers clear of her for the most part. As they grow older, the two don’t get along because of Sadie’s behavior towards Atticus.

Caroline Clemence:

Her arch-nemisis. Sadie and Caroline tend to fight quite often, either over Eden’s attention or Sadie is trying to let Eden get a word in and let her make her own decision. Sadie can’t stand that Caroline leads Eden around like a puppy. She also dislikes that Caroline sides with Atticus when Beckett is getting picked on. Sadie has smacked her more than a few times.

Jude Clemence:

Like Lyra, Sadie avoids him as a baby. As the grow older, Sadie still doesn’t have much to do with him. But, she dislikes that he always runs and tattles on her and Atticus when she is fighting with him.

Eden Bright:

She didn’t quite understand at first why Eden got sick easily, but once the two began spending time together, Sadie grew fond of her quickly. She teaches Eden how to speak up for herself with the other kids and not let them walk all over her.

Beckett Ash:

Sadie loves her big brother, and she does everything she can to protect him, even at only ¾ years old. Her mother doesn’t pick on Beckett because of his compliant attitude and Sadie is happy for that. She does wish that he would stand up for himself, but until he does, she will defend him with everything she has.

Black Army/Neutrals:

Finley Godspeed:

Not allowed to be alone with her. The first time the two met in Central Quarter, they caused a ruckus and destroyed a fruit stand by startling a horse. Fast friends, and partners in crime. They bond over their adoration for Eden and love of causing mischief.

I will definitely be updating this as I explore more of their relationships with each other and delve more into their stories. Stay tuned for a breakdown of the Black Army kids and the Neutral kids! ^_^

The Idiot's Guide on How To Tell Your Mischief-Making Archangels Apart

(Yes, His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs still qualifies, even if he gets all snarly and flame-eyed about it.)

1. Wings

Michael's wings are the color of the night sky, threaded through with stars. He thinks nothing of using a wing to pull his favorite people in for a hug or to show comfort and it drives the Kingsman tailors absolutely bonkers how he manages to do that without ruining the suit.

Roxy Morton has a necklace with a feather in it. Michael will always know where his goddaughter is and if she is ever in danger that even a Knight of Kingsman cannot get out of, he will always know where to find and help her.

He's already lost one Lancelot; he won't have that happening again.

Yes, he's done the same with his remaining Kingsman family - Eggsy, Harry and even little Daisy.

Lucifer's wings, of course, help explain his name. They are silver white and they glow... sometimes.

(They didn't really glow in his time in Hell.)

Chloe has figured out that they glow especially bright when she kisses him, when she makes him laugh, when she does all the little ordinary human things that let him know he's loved. She's seen them fold gently around Trixie when she pounces on him for a hug, soft and sunbright.

Lucifer used to hate his wings with a passion, believing them to be chains, to be manipulations of his Father.

He stopped when he realized that he couldn't have saved his beloved Chloe without them.

2. Glasses

Michael has had twenty years of living among humans, unaware of what he used to be. The glasses weren't only just something he adopted because of Kingsman. He's always been aware that something about his direct gaze unnerves people.

It's the reason why Harry lets him handle interrogations, when they work together on mission. The first time Michael had consciously tried it was somewhat hilarious and terrifying at the same time. The poor idiot started confessing all his sins, even back to a schoolboy panty-stealing prank.

He likes wearing them now and has a pair that are decidedly non-Kingsman issue.

Predictably, his twin rolled his eyes upon hearing the comment from Ella Lopez: "He looks like Lucifer doing a Clark Kent cosplay. So cute!"

Michael couldn't help laughing when it was the good Detective Chloe who then chimed in with a: "Y'know, Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent was my childhood crush. There's just something about Tall, Dark, Handsome and Adorkable in Glasses."

Yeah, that last one definitely made Lucifer grumpy (read: jealous). Although he did brighten up considerably when Chloe later pointed out that HE was adorkable as well. At least until the inevitable: "I am NOT Adorkable!"

"Keep telling yourself that, Lucifer," was Chloe's response, along with a kiss.

Yeah, game, set and match once again went to Detective Chloe Decker.

3. Instruments

The Twins, of course, play all musical instruments. And they can do that pretty well.

One of them prefers the piano. It's totally not the one with the penchant for drama, guyliner and sinfully fitted suits.

Right. If you believe that, we've got a bridge in New York to sell you.

These days, there's a certain sense of sheer enjoyment when Lucifer plays the piano at Lux, especially when he chooses to sing along. It helps when a certain blonde detective is in the audience, unwinding after a long day at work. His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs will probably make some innuendo-filled comment about Chloe and inspiration at this point and Chloe will probably roll her eyes at him, but this time, the exasperation is fond and loving and he soaks that all up blissfully.

And of course, Michael prefers the guitar. While London is his home, the fact that he has wings and has finally re-discovered the ability to "hop" from one country to another, means that he can always visit his twin in L.A. when he wants.

Of course, these days, he's far more welcome than Amenadiel, who can still, on occasion, get on Lucifer's last nerve.

When the Twins choose to play together, guitar and piano, and voices raised in harmony, it's magic.

4. Opinions

Michael's nature is as the Father made him. He protects and defends. There are many dreadful and evil things that are out there, far beyond human ken and it is Michael who will face them head on.

But Michael also helps protect and defend in spiritual battles. His is the name that believers will invoke when they face the darkness in their souls. He can't wage those battles on his own, of course, because every person has to do that themselves. But he is the one who is the shield at their back, who whispers of courage and hope and strength.

Michael fell in love, truly in love, with humanity first.

He remembers sharing the Father's excitement at this new life, that did have a spark of the divine but was still so fragile and all the more precious because of it.

And that is why Michael had been furious with his twin at his rebellion. Samael's arrogance and presumption. His selfishness and self-centeredness. The way he'd opened humankind's eyes to good and evil, before he thought they could be ready for it. The way that he had envied humanity's place in their Father's heart, his initial disgust and disdain of them.

Michael had been angry. He'd been angry at Samael.

And yes, Michael was angry at himself. He was angry over the Fall and the loss of Samael... now Lucifer, to Hell and the fact that he couldn't protect his Twin. Not in this.

Although in the deepest part of his Self, Michael knows that if it were left to him, he would have left humanity forever innocent of such things. They would never have grown if Samael had not dared their Father's wrath. They would never have changed and been what they were now, beautifully imperfect and capable of great things, both terrible and good.

Michael remembers quietly listening at the feet of a Certain Jewish carpenter, who also happened to like telling stories. The story that has stayed with him is the one of the Prodigal, the son who had foolishly squandered his Father's gifts and returned shamed and sorry, but still welcomed by his parent with love, joy and acceptance.

Michael remembers weeping afterwards and the Storyteller did come to him, held his hand and brushed away his tears in gentle comfort. "Brother, why do you weep?"

"Because. I do not want to be the firstborn son," Michael finds himself blurting out. "I love my brother. I still love him. And I failed him."

(As we know, it is very difficult to lie to the Storyteller. Even if one happens to be an Archangel.)

The firstborn son, the one who had stayed with the Father, who had been dutiful and obedient. Michael isn't the firstborn in the family, but he looks at his own Self and realizes his own failings. Sees himself in that firstborn son of the story. He doesn't want to be like that - resentful, proud and jealous. Self-righteous. Unforgiving. Unyielding.

He doesn't want to be the one to hold his brother down again, weapon at his throat, filled with wrath.

"Then don't be like that," the Storyteller tells him with an affectionate smile. "Love your brother. He is lost... but he will be found, someday. Welcome him home. Be happy for him."

Michael listened and kept that lesson close to his heart.

5. Style

"Well obviously, I get the style points in this family. Amenadiel has made some truly unfortunate sartorial choices and well... the only one who comes closest could be my twin, that is, if he'd only be convinced to remove that tie."

"Excuse me?"

"Amenadiel, if you're tired of walking around in that dreadful hoodie and jeans combination, please let me know so I can schedule an appointment for you with my tailor."

"I happen to own a very nice three piece, Luci. Even Linda -- "

"Yes, dear elder brother, do finish that sentence. I'm all ears!"

"This tie hides a garotte in it that I can use in a pinch."

"Oooh, do you have any other interesting toys, twin?"

"Got a lighter that I can use as a grenade? And this suit is bulletproof."

"..."

"Michael, you're supposed to be the SENSIBLE twin, please do not encourage Lucifer."

"Mmmm.... Lucifer likes."

Obviously, His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs ending up getting bespoke bulletproof Kingsman suits for Christmas. While he still disdained ties, the novelty of being bulletproof around Chloe when they were off crime-fighting together was too good to pass up.

Why do you wanna rewrite merlin? I’m on S4E9 (when lancelot comes back from the dead) and it’s good so far (except for Morgana, my baby does not deserve to suffer like this)

Alright, so I’ll TRY not to spoil you too much.

For me, personally, the show never lived up to its premise, nor did it really....have a consistent view on its own morality? It’s generally acknowledged that Uther did a Very Bad Thing when it came to relentlessly persecuting sorcerors, but then, time after time again, Merlin refuses opportunities to either end or diminish that persecution or to kill Uther, even in circumstances where Uther’s death wouldn’t have been directly tied to magic. Merlin ultimately ended up caring more for ARTHUR and Arthur’s wellbeing than his own people, and unfortunately, Arthur never proved himself worthy of that kind of loyalty. Which could have been a FASCINATING take on an unreliable narrator and the development of a narrative over time, but the writers unfortunately didn’t have the self-realization to realize what they were actually writing on the page. Again, I’ll avoid MAJOR spoilers, but during the time he’s king...a lot’s discussed, the audience is told many things about how he’s A Better Man Than His Father, but then we never really SEE it, just like we’re expected to believe that Gwen and Arthur are True Love™ because the soundtrack decided to add in Swelling String Music in the background.

And...really...

Look, I GET that the fandom loved Merthur. I really, really do. But at the same time, they never really rise BEYOND the “Hahaha stupid servant” thing. It’s very, very funny when one person tosses things at another, hits them, belittles them, etc., because it’s two guys, amiright! Sometimes, there are these little moments where they come close, and it’s cute (and then the writers pull back), but ultimately? I would say it’s fairly toxic, as a relationship. And normally, I don’t particularly care, because so many things that I ship are absolutely wretched, but this is someone who Merlin’s willing to risk his people for? There’s no...development. There’s this ongoing cycle of taunting, “Oh, look, Arthur’s not a complete tool after all,” and then...whoops, back to Square One because lol emotions are funny. I guess my main thing is: If they’re going to be friends, you have to SHOW them as friends, and you have to show them evolving beyond the servant/master dynamic. Because otherwise, watching a character getting ordered around by someone that’s supposed to be a friend? Isn’t really my cup of tea. Note: BY THE SECOND EPISODE, Arthur was canonically willing to believe Merlin when he was like “lol Valiant’s a little bitch.” Because the writers certainly did in later seasons.

The treatment of Morgana, you’ve already pointed out. She deserved better as a character; she had SO much potential, but they left her fall to the equivalent of flipping a switch. And...personally, I got TIRED of how sanctimonious the cast could be towards her. Arthur and Merlin can preach about how she should rise above years of Uther’s abuse to her, but ultimately...that was HER experience. Arthur, Gwen, and Merlin ALL suffered at Uther’s hands, but...coming from experience, the way that a given victim will react to an abuser can vary. She’s ALLOWED to be angry. You don’t HAVE to love your abuser, or forgive them, or wish them well, and after what she was put through? Also, I’ll never forgive the writers for making the scene where Merlin POISONS HER about his pain. “Oh, look at our woobie protagonist, he’s crying :(” YEAH, AND MORGANA’S CHOKING TO DEATH RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, TRYING TO GET AWAY BECAUSE SHE DOESN’T WANT HER WOULD-BE MURDERER TOUCHING HER.

I’m calm. I’m calm.

That Fucking Dragon. Get rid of it. If you can’t develop your main cast’s relationships organically and have to rely on Destiny™, you can’t write. IF you’re going to keep That Fucking Dragon, then at least let him be a LEGITIMATELY shady character. Like, Merlin goes from “OH SHIT KILGARRAH’S OFF HIS SHITS AND IS GOING TO BURN CAMELOT TO A CRISP. WHO KNEW HE HAD AN AGENDA ALL ALONG?” to “Ah, well, I’m going to take this action because my BFF Kilgarrah said so.” There’s no real consistency there.

Also the inconsistencies with Mordred, but I’ll skim that since you’re not there yet. Suffice it to say, they could have split him into two separate characters and it would have done very little. They never knew WHAT to do with the damn kid.

Okay, but strictly speaking, what I would change:

The timeline. That’s it. The show stretched itself out too much, ESPECIALLY with Uther. Look, I love Anthony Head, I love Anthony Head as Uther. He’s a delightful asshole who even has a few moments of sympathy despite being a genocidal asshat.

But Uther had to go. There’s a REASON why most Arthurian adaptations begin with the death of Uther, and that’s because, as long as he’s around, things are kept static. Merlin stumbles around, trying to save the day, Prince Arthur alternates between heroism and prattishness, usually within ten seconds of one another, he and Gwen look longingly at one another as Swelling String Music Plays, Morgana smirks...nothing CHANGES.

Ergo, you’ve got to get rid of Uther ~S1-2. I lean towards S2, so you can get a little time to develop him/his relationship to Arthur and The Igraine Drama. Cut The Troll Episode, cut a few other filler episodes, and just. Kill Uther. That gives you time to develop Arthur as a KING, while also not making the switch to King Arthur seem jarring. Spend some time on the magical ban, have Merlin GENUINELY try to do something for people like him. I’d probably set The Magic Reveal around S3-S4, with the last episode of the series being the establishment of the Golden Age of Camelot, with Merlin being appointed Court Magician.

Sometime in those few extra seasons, I WOULD like to see Morgana have an arc of her own. Not even necessarily a full REDEMPTION arc, because I’m not sure there’s anyway for her and her brother/the court of Camelot to be on solid terms, but at least something where she has to really...figure out what’s best for her people, as a High Priestess. She can’t TRUST Arthur and Merlin, but they’re also offering a way out. One of the common things I’ve seen people argue about her sloppy writing was that Morgana HAD to be evil because that’s part of the Arthurian myths, but the figure of Morgan le Fay’s been very flexible throughout the years; in her first appearances, she was benevolent. I would like to see her THERE, having reached a truce with the others. Just as Arthur rises to the kingship, she gains power in her own way. There’s no need to take it to Camlann.

Gwen and Arthur....I would put more threads of it in S1. I’m not sure it would EVER be my Number 1 ship, because it has Arthur in it, but the DEVELOPMENT needs to be there. And, whatever happens with her and Lancelot, I wouldn’t have them being FORCED into it by Morgana. For me, that completely annihilates the pain of Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot. If Uther can make vague references to keeping Morgana’s mother company while Gorlois was away, I THINK the audience can handle Gwen having conflicting feelings towards two men. Maybe Arthur’s different now that he’s king, not the more carefree prince she knew who turned her from a maid to a queen. Maybe the kingdom’s under invasion, maybe he’s finding out that his father left far more of a mark than he thought and he has to reconcile the fact that he STILL loves his father with knowing that the man was a monster, maybe he doesn’t EXACTLY understand the amount of pressure she’s under to be The Perfect Queen, since the court will take any opportunity it can to rip her apart. And she loves him, of course she does, and she’s grateful to him, but Lancelot’s there, and he’s concerned for Arthur too, and he understands what it’s like to rise above his station. I’m not asking for a full on soap opera storyline, but IF you’re going to put Lancelot/Guinevere in there, then you have to do it in a way that respects the characters rather than just ticking points off a checklist. (Especially given that the show completely went away from Arthurian myth at various points, so it’s not like they HAD to bring it in. And the lovely thing with Arthuriana is that you can bring in or take out pretty much whatever you want; the genre is endlessly adaptable.)

Also, we were robbed of a Merlin-style Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. ROBBED. (Christmas special, anyone?)

since i remembered i was trying to make work commentary a thing here, more rambling / author’s notes under the cut!

push your way through the cracks is the first edgar/mc i’ve written here and while i’ve mentioned there that edgar is my fav out of the cast, i fear that i’ll probably take me a very long time to write another one bc... he’s my favorite. i noticed i have the tendency not to write much (or have finished works) about ships i really, really like despite... you know, liking them. hopefully not - shipping aside, i like exploring the characterizations of enigmatic types like edgar.

about the fic, i pretty much like it save for the second part bc i think i could’ve done something more with it - not exactly change the setting, but expounded a little further on it. i don’t know, it feels lacking somehow in comparison to the first two.

there are a lot of flower-related descriptions tossed here and there, but i think i succeeded in not being so purple prose-y? hopefully! this was pretty descriptive, i guess.

with this edgar fic present, that means i have 2 more red army doods to write about, namely zero & jonah. i was really aiming to make edgar the last one tho haha.

i think i wrote this after a discussion i had with a friend about sirius & his route - she read some posts commenting on the route and she wanted a nearby opinion. we got into an agreement: while we do find sirius to be indeed husbando material, his route would’ve risked nothing if they gave him more / emphasized his flaws. his flaws, not mc’s, gosh.

no, seriously. in my opinion, mc fretting so much about being immature sort of blinds her from the little things that prove sirius is not so composed as he appears to be. it gets even worse when she realizes she’s fallen in love with him, and while i enjoy the black army going kira-kira rabu support team + seth being hopeless suitor, i’m going 50/50 on mc. she’s written to be indeed very single-minded come the war phase and while that’s not necessarily bad since she gets to broaden her perspective as she always does, i think i would’ve appreciated it if she came to most of the realizations on her own by reflecting on them based on how the events around her are progressing; and not simply by sirius / someone else pointing it out for her. no wonder she’d think she’s immature in comparison - it also irks me a bit that she keeps on fretting about her feelings for sirius. this is what i’d be sad to see again in other routes: the romance overthrowing the potential / present character development.

side note: i understand that in relationships with a notable age gap, maturity / perceived maturity can be a problem - i just wished that the route downplayed on this bc honestly, there are other things more interesting to explore than that angle, like, say; isn’t she from another culture or world or something????????? will those differences affect our potential relationship??????????????

on sirius himself, i recall reading on reddit that one person didn’t pick up ikerev for the reason that the cast is too perfect. that’s a fair opinion. i think i can relate this to sirius himself: while throughout the route you do see some flaws in him, he’s still overall the dude you’d write home about + that dude you’d dream introducing to your parents complete with that suave voice (thank u junichi suwabe). no, i’m not saying that he has to have some unlikable or quirky trait / wangsty backstory, it’s just that in my opinion he’s desirable but not exactly relatable. let him struggle, let me see him rise up from it. show me his humanity. there’s the scene with him and lancelot, but i want more. tho him being afraid of being alone is what i find extremely relatable and endearing about him, very nice. otherwise... well, maybe i have to reread the route again or smth.

anyway. the fic emphasizes actually on his character trait of self-control / restraint. did u know too much is bad for u??? it can reflect that since you hold yourself back too much, it could mean that you’re masking your true feelings, for example. there are various psychological studies on that. *stares at sirius* hMMM.

i took care to be quite descriptive on that kiss scene and at the same time, not to be so emotional on it bc it’s still sirius lol - i believe he’s not one to lose himself completely to his emotions, but he’s not that afraid to succumb to some of it - especially if he actually wants to feel them.

... this turned out to be a rant portion rather than a fic commentary now didn’t it

aug 24 // ikerev (i’m seeing a pattern here)

a beginner’s guide to waltz was seriously just some formatting experiment, then it blew up to something larger. i actually like it tho, it’s cute.

writing oliver is actually fun, not bc of the reason that i can be rude. he is rude, but he’s not like that for just the sake of being so. as seen with blanc, it’s probably a result of habit. why exactly he chose to be verbally aggressive is something i’d like to know in his route.

i have no idea how the relationship shift is portrayed either, but i do hope it’s a mortifying revelation on mc’s part lol. like, lookie here, that little kid with his wee shorts and pretty hat that you hang out with all the time and don’t care about acting so ladylike around was that hot hunk who saved you before! oliver’s so amused and never letting her live it down.

for the line ‘i’m not interested in asking you about a decision you’ve made since you arrived here’: the decision mentioned is mc’s promise not to fall in love & to go home. i think oliver would be one of those routes where he falls for her but wants her to go home anyway, but the difference in his route is that he’s very adamant to make her leave. maybe thinking along the lines of ‘i don’t want you to end up like me’ or something. idk. idk what i’m trying to type at this point, lol.

just some random thought, but i do hope ikerev artist tcg someday draws mc in the game outfits / hairstyles bc she’s actually rly pretty. the description of mc’s outfits / fashion of part 4 of the fic was out of me just staring at the my closet portion of the game. don’t ask - i like the hc of oliver & mc having elegant wardrobes / fashion sense, and since i’m too lazy to check up 19th century london fashion trends...

sep 28 // collar x malice

haunted by something still alive was the result of me thinking about guns. don’t ask me either. maybe it’s also a result of me wanting to write something else that isn’t from my horrendous drafts folder lol.

these were actually nice drabble practices, and the first one i clearly had i mind was shiraishi’s. i honestly think it would be fitting, probably around the start of the route where they haven’t got to know each other so well.

from there on i tried to do the drabbles in the route order i did when i played the game, which was mineo - sasazuka - okazaki - shiraishi - yanagi. but tbh when i was writing it became shiraishi - mineo - yanagi - sasazuka - yanagi again - okazaki, lol. i rewrote yanagi’s and okazaki’s three times.

subtitles have their respective mathematical operations on it - i find it kind of cool and funny that those are their symbols (amnesia had the card suits), but when you do think of it properly, it does relate to their characters.

... never forget that hoshino ichika is canonically good with guns.

in absence of glass slippers as stated was a part of one of my first ikerev drafts. still a draft until now, but the portion i posted is one of the ‘finished’ sections of the fic.

i don’t headcanon mc as a respectable lady from a equally respectable house or her being a well-off girl, but i like the concept of her being a self-taught lady of society aka she learned stuff like manners, dancing, and etc. out of curiosity or for more practical reasons like fitting in. 19th century london is still the victorian era, so social class and propriety was still a thing.

her taking off her shoes to practice dancing with ray is a sort of a challenge, actually... his measure of improvement will be based on the times that he steps on her feet / how many blisters her feet would gain by the end of the session, lolol - that’s why she says that stepping on a rock is the least of her problems. pretty hardcore, isn’t she?

thus the title actually - glass slippers (mary janes actually) are pretty delicate, but don’t you think a lady’s foot is much more delicate?

with ray’s fic up, i’ve officially written a piece for all of the black army men! nice.

neither heaven or hell is holy shit, an mc-centered fic! hella rad - i was half thinking to classify it as a drabble, but since i decided that drabbles are pieces that i may get back on, i kept it as a full fic instead since i’m happy with how it turned out.

all of my screamings are in the tags, so i don’t have much to add besides that lol. however, the writing here is pretty different, and that’s because i was trying to do a three sentence fic challenge kind of thing. buuuuut it became three paragraphs with three lengthy sentences instead lol.

also, there’s some stuff highlighting mc’s london-er/english-ness. washing powder is the british term for laundry soap. 19th century roofs for royals were usually panels, and wooden beams for commoners. different as chalk and cheese is a british expression. i’m certainly not british but i just like emphasizing the fact that mc is of another culture/world, thus there should be differences in how she perceives things / her mannerisms & actions / her way of speech. i’ve been conscious of that in all of my fics involving her.

actually, i do make it a point to watch her way of speaking. i really like the polite way of speaking of 19th century britain (and also of today), so i try to integrate that despite the fact that i’m not british myself lol. it’s hard to fully convey it, but i try with hoping that it doesn’t seem too off. i should probably look for more references to practice it.

this was a very spontaneous piece with actually minor editing involved, and i’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

Kyle’s Route part 7

Initial ramblings!

Spoilers regarding Lancelot in general

Still catching up on Saturday's Lucky Time!

Jonah: "King Lancelot has started eating even less than he did before. Ever since the night you arrived in this land, Alice."

This scene actually made me understand Luka's feelings toward Jonah a little better. Imagine Luka is feeling sad and neglected, and Jonah saying well, mille-feuille always makes ME feel better, so it'll make you feel better, too. It's a sweet but superficial solution to a deeper problem. Jonah explicitly states that this problem with Lancelot started the night Alice arrived. That was also the same night Lancelot declared war on the Black Army. Lancelot is under a lot of stress/pressure, the worst of it he keeps secret, but we don't see Jonah focusing on easing those burdens. Lancelot isn’t being a picky eater -- he’s not coming to the table at all (in more ways than one).

Jonah means well, like incredibly well, but I can't help thinking that Lancelot probably would have died in most other routes if not for others stepping up to help or catching him on his way down. Jonah is the closest one to Lancelot but he does not see Lancelot's self-sacrificing tendencies. Of course Jonah wants Lancelot to depend on him but Lancelot isn’t giving him an opening. So Jonah wanting to at least make sure Lancelot eats is beautiful, but Lancelot has struggled for so long and he's so far gone at this point that food probably can't fix this.

And I can definitely understand Jonah despairing over the lack of a solution. So him snapping at Alice is also understandable because he's doing his best and doesn’t need her criticism.

Jonah: "If you think this breakfast menu isn't right for the king, then show me your proof!" "I do not listen to arguments that have no basis."

Ahh, I love Jonah~!

Although when Alice asks if she can use part of the kitchen, Jonah replies: "Do whatever you want. As long as you're not getting in my way, I don't care about you at all."

But... but obviously Lancelot cares about her in some fashion if her arrival is literally affecting his eating habits. Like I love Jonah and how much he cares for Lancelot but Jonah has such tunnel vision lol

We've made it into Kyle's room at last! The classical drawings on the wall are a really nice touch. Kyle the Naturalist. The color scheme is very beautiful and I love the sheen of the floor vs the plush furniture.

Once again, I'm enamored by how much Kyle cares about his work. The books stacked everywhere. How he reads informational texts with the interest and investment one would read an adventure book. Those glasses!

I'm confused about the glasses LOL Are they just reading glasses when he hits the books to lessen eyestrain? (At least he’s taking care of some part of his body!) He has to get up close to his patients and he fills in charts/reports, so his vision is probably fine in general? But those countdown to Kyle's route posts mentioned how rare it was to see him wearing glasses like ??

Kyle eats not one but two servings of Alice's soup! And he says it's super good! And Alice is flattered by his compliments! And that's super cute!

Alice re: the stacks of books: "You've read all of these?"

Kyle: "Of course I have. Why would I buy a book and not read it?"

Me: *SWEATING PROFUSELY*

I can't believe I had to pick "Kyle is surprisingly COOL" for the choice this part. There is no surprise about how cool he is! Alice saw him working in the infirmary, she should have some idea! Diligent felt like a better choice to me...

And then I was a little alarmed at this part:

Alice: "There aren't many people who keep studying after they finish school just because they enjoy it."

Alice, the medical field is a SCIENCE! And it's the 19th century. Like a few decades before this doctors didn't think they had to wash their hands (thank you, Semmelweis!!) and it will be a few decades more before the first antibiotic is accidentally discovered. Please keep studying, Kyle! Also, coming from someone who has drawn up the schedules for a hoard of hospital doctors, know that modern doctors are given blocked-out slots for study/education lol Your doctor should be keeping up-to-date.

I LOVE HOW KYLE AVOIDS EYE-CONTACT WHEN HE'S EMBARRASSED LIKE HOLY SHI-- Ahhh, I love it so much. That's adorable. My heart is so soft rn. I'm so happy that Alice finds it cute, too. Please embarrass him all the time I’m living my best life here lmao

Alice using Kyle's books to research a way to help Jonah with Lancelot's breakfast 10/10! Alice observing Kyle studying and inadvertently falling in love with his small habbits is 10/10!

WOAH WAIT CAN YOU NOT!? First Luka in the countdown and now Alice like how about no!! Kyle says some really wonderful things and he is, in general, just a kind and diligent and goofy guy. He's fine! At least he's not asking why a medical doctor needs to study, like honestly!!

Kyle finding Alice asleep on the couch and his first reaction is, "Aw, come on." LOL. I love the complete lack of romance/sexiness here tbh. And we get some Kyle POV here that I love!

"After judging the distance between sofa and bed with his eyes, Kyle shifted his gaze back to the sleeping [Alice]."

Kyle: "Can I do it?"

LMFAO I'M CRYING

He does STRETCHES before picking her up I'm WEEPING. I love him. Kyle, please don't strain yourself. You're back isn't doing so hot from sleeping on the couch the past week.

It's really sweet though that he wanted to put her to bed and not leave her on the couch. Because then he took the couch. And he's so sweet with her my heart is super soft rn. That he's troubled by the fact it might be bad for them to sleep in the same room together without a curtain between them is just... super sweet...

Kyle is a sweet, cool, diligent, and considerate man and even when he opens his mouth, you can't change my mind!

Long suffering Foggy Nelson has been the victim of ambushing by hug or sudden hand-hold, by bright and bubbly enthusiasm over probably the weirdest things, kisses on the cheek, straightening of ties, thumbs up from around corners…the laundry list gets longer with every passing year they’ve known each other. And he wears her affection with a style and grace that’s rather unmatched by nearly anyone he could care to name.

And he returns those tokens with equal aplomb, albeit differently. Musicals watched at his apartment, a tour of the office while he was still working on it. Phone calls in the middle of the night to make sure she is first…okay, and that she doesn’t forget she actually has a home to go to.“Definitely me in public, him in personal space.”

She laughs and the sound radiates warmth and kindness through out it’s duration which is brief. Not because the question is funny but because Foggy is one of the sweetest and most romantic souls she knows, more so than she is, and that’s saying a lot.“Foggy’s romantic in da very French sense of da word. I mean if I had t’ pick someone oddah dan my braddah whom I could see ridin’ resolutely into battle wi’ a token around his arm from some kine maiden fair…I couldn’t pick anyone beddah. He carries a wonder of da world, a belief dat’s deep as oceans inside. He will champion a cause because it’s da right kine to do an’ nevah really t’ink twice, no matter how much he stand to lose, how hurt he could get, how he don’t see himself dat way.

Lazy conversation, great little jokes, really lissen an’ rememberin’ small details.”She smiles.“Me…mebbe is cause how I was raise but I feel like… need t’ go real big or go home ya know? They walk through the park, talking about his cases, even the smallest ones bringing a sense of pride and sense of self worth in it. And it starts with walking maybe too close, so that her hand brushes his and eventually she slips her fingers between his. She’s always had a thing about touch, it’s how she navigates the world and sometimes it just makes her feel a little less lonely, a lot safer. And maybe he doesn’t mind so much, because he lets her. Sometimes carrying on through with a conversation or lifting their conjoined hands to point something out that she might have otherwise missed.💕: who is more likely to make huge declarations of love in front of other people?

“Uh. Foggy.”

She remembers it all too clearly. How strange they all looked in Josie’s, Foggy and Karen and Misty and Beth herself. And she watched how he watched their long-legged and blonde friend. And Beth wondered what it would be like to be here for just a moment, though she was jerked out of that feeling when he slammed his palms on their pool table, and ordered another round of drinks.

‘These are my friends and I love them!’The only explanation he gave. Karen doesn’t know how lucky she is. Can’t see beyond Matt or Frank. But Foggy never gives up on people, and Beth admires that, even if she can see the marks it leaves behind. Even if she knows what those marks feel like. He walked Karen home that night, and she…left a picket fence of cocktail umbrellas for her cabbie.She never really had the guts to ask what, if anything, happened that night.💘: who developed a crush on the other first?“Oh, I dunno. We’re jus’…jus’ friends.”

She doesn’t know exactly when she noticed how he lights up a room with his smile. Or how she could spend hours listening to his opening and closing statements, or talking about how he grew up and what his favourite movies are. She doesn’t know why he risked life and limb to come to her clinic the night of the Earthquake. Or when she first traced the veins on the back of his hand and gave it a squeeze. She wouldn’t even really call it a crush so much as…she just likes being around him. She thinks he’s the best cuddler and a good friend and…💝: who spends more time (possibly overthinking) what presents to get the other?

“Me. Cufflinks. Wha’ was I even t’inking?! But a’ least he took it in stride.”💓: who initiates most physical contact?

It’s not exactly initiation, but Beth usually starts it. Whether it’s running her fingers through his hair at the end of a rough day, or letting him doze in her lap when he’s sick, or rubbing his shoulders during the middle of the night and he’s still burning midnight oil at his desk. It is the only real way she knows of telling him that she cares about him, his well being, and all the other things that go along with it. That and the hand holding. Or resting her head on his shoulders while they’re going through their Star Wars marathon.

“Some day, I’m gonna be really sad when I’ve got to force-choke him for being rebel scum dat he is.”💌: who is more likely to send cutesy texts to the other?

“I wouldn’t call dem cutesy, really. But sometimes it’s nice t’ get a random tex so ya know someone out dere tinkin’ about ya. An’ he ~said~ he liked cute animal videos, so reliably no can hold dat against me, jus’ sayin.”💟: who spends time reading their zodiac incompatibilities?

“No idea wha’ ya talkin’ about, incompatibilities. We’re both Cancers, born t’irteen days apart and a couple years, give or take, which means we bot’ got a lot in common if ya don’ count generational kine. An’ so wha’ if his venus is in his sixth… I mean I’m sure I could sit down an’ draw out his chart if I wan too but why? Beth absolutely believes Foggy is the more physically protective of the two of them, where as she’s more emotionally protective of him, and in a way it creates a really beautiful synergy. And it’s also extremely endearing though the idea that he could get hurt because of her absolutely kills her. “I say we’re pretty even matched here.”💚: who tends to get sick more often? who is better at taking care of the other?

Beth is convinced that he’s never noticed that she doesn’t get sick. Despite working in an emergency room and running a health clinic in the Kitchen. That whenever things go really side ways {or she spends time with people like Frank Castle}, she has the remarkable good luck not to come away with a single scratch. And she really hopes he doesn’t ever catch on because that is the one secret she can’t share with him.Likewise, Foggy’s worst habit is his lack of self-care and the fact that he’ll run himself into the ground if he’s allowed to. So of course she tries to make sure he doesn’t without seeming weird about it.

“I mean, I’m pretty sure I can say I’m mo’ beddah taking care of him, and oddah people, because dat’s ya know…what I do for a living. An’ I guess den dat makes him da one gets more sick.”💜: who said “i love you” first? or, if neither has said it yet, who is more likely to say it first?

“Objection!” She almost chokes on her cup of coffee at the question. Obviously flustered she seems to drop back behind her personal shell over the matter. Arms hunched inward and face turned away so her hair falls into it. Beth…can’t bring herself to say those words. Even if she meant them, even if they scratched at the back of her mind. Because when she does? The person leaves. She’s watched it happen time after time after time, and she can’t bear the idea of not having Foggy in her life.Besides, she’s a thousand percent sure that he doesn’t see her that way. And that’s okay too. He deserves someone he loves. He deserves the world.“Dis seem really unfair. Wha’s dat called? Leadin’ da witness?”💛: who believes in soulmates?

She’s absolutely sure they both do, but it’s surprisingly not something that’s come up in casual conversation. And if she were honest with herself, she’d admit he’s already found that person. And she absolutely has no remorse punching a certain blind-man dead in the face if he ever breaks Foggy’s heart.Again.

LRA Korea Write Up!!! This is so freaking long and rambly and fangirly but here we go

So obviously spoiler alert, I’ll mark the appropriate parts with trigger warnings, and also I don’t speak any Korean so obviously I missed a lot of stuff

Okay so first off the theater and stage itself were pretty damn small especially in comparison to the 4000 seat Palais des Congrès in Paris but they def made that stage work for them. The back of the stage was curved in and had steps going all the way around, a screen above the steps with projections, etc, and a couple of entrances for actors. They had some minimal set pieces, but the coolest part was the like celestial pattern they had on these giant moving screens that they used for a curtain as well as for backdrops for some of the scenes. Tbh the costumes weren’t like mind blowing like you could tell they didn’t have the biggest budget but they worked and none were so ugly or awful that it took me out of the story.

So the show starts in a similar way with Merlin and the Dragon, but it was really cool bc the part (i assume at least) where the Dragon mentions the king’s son Arthur pops up at the top of the steps! As the knights are slowly appearing for the tournament and start fighting, Arthur actually sings part of Je me relève??? Which imo is brilliant???? Anyways it gets down to just Meleagant and as he goes up to try and pull Excalibur from the stone, he sings part of Un Nouveau Départ which is also brilliant???? This production did a great job of establishing and maintaining musical themes for characters and i was living for it.

Anyways Arthur does the thing and yay he’s king now but wait side note Han Jisang who played Arthur was SO FUCKING GOOD. Like he captured Arthur’s transition from a boyish squire to a grown ass adult king so beautifully and wonderfully it was truly incredible.

Okay so now it’s Advienne que pourra time and holy fuck. Holy f u c k. Kang Hongseok was the perfect Meleagant. I’d link it but I’m on mobile but you can see his Advienne que pourra in the King Arthur press call around the nine minute mark and he just fucking k i l l s it. Also there were no sword dicks in the choreography so it’s automatically better. And the projection1!!! They had a sun up from the beginning bc the Dragon had appeared in the sun but it was still up for Meleagant but then during the bridge it’s eclipsed by the moon and it’s like ooooo symbolism for Meleagant’s feelings~~~

Side note i really really really loved the staging of this like so much of it made soooo much more sense than the french production and like I’m attached to the original because obvious reasons but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t‘ve been better.

The training scene with Gauvain was pretty similar as the original. Merlin introduces the stag and the wolf again, and ngl the dude who plays the wolf has very nice abs so good for him for being motivated to work out like that lol. Anyways i really liked the staging of Qui suis-je because Arthur still has his existential crisis but Merlin’s explanation of the Grail is less directed at him??? Like Arthur’s still on stage but he’s not listening and is working on training with Merlin’s brothers. So it’s much less “I know you’re having a hard time but look at this shiny thing!” Than the french one.

They took out the Danse des guerriers battle dance number music but they did still have a dance battle! At the top of the stairs they had Guenièvre and Léodagant being held prisoner by Méléagant and they showed Mélé like trying to be romantic ish with Guenièvre so establishing that connection was really nice. And Méléagant had a new song???? That was really short????? But i don’t think it matched any of the melodies of his other songs?????? I’m confused but intrigued.

Oooo what was really cool was how they did Arthur asking Meleagant to knight him. Like in the french one it’s tense but i really felt the tension among the characters tonight it was sooo great oh my god. But after Meleagant takes the sword, he sings a few lines of Advienne que pourra and then points the sword at Arthur’s neck and idk i just really liked it it was such a nice touch and maybe it was Hong Seok and the other actors reacting to him but there was a true sense of holy fuck no one knows what he’s gonna do next and Arthur had this look on his face like I’m prepared to die if this is my time and ugh i love them all so much ;alkdjfa;dk

Okay next is Rêver l’impossible. I liked our Guenièvre but I’d have to see her again to have a more detailed opinion of her lol. I really loved this scene because one no pregnant handmaidens and two Arthur was being really cute and acting all in love with her and it was adorable and I love it. Quelque chose de magique was more of the same like Han Jisang fucking killed it as Arthur like he was such a dork in love and I loved it. And towards the end of the scene Méléagant walks on stage and looks at Guenièvre and Arthur and so you know he knows he’s lost Guinevere.

Un Nouveau Départ was great because Kang Hongseok is great and I love him. They did have the dancers do body rolls which i found very amusing for some reason idk why a;dlkfajd;lfksd Next was my one complaint about the show and it’s that there was no transition whatsoever between Un Nouveau Départ and Au diable but maybe they had Guenièvre do that lyrically??? Still some sort of musical interlude in between would’ve been nice. I did l o v e how they did the water for her arrival like she stood at the top of the stairs and they had blue fabric covering all the steps then they pulled it down as she started to walk down and the screen was doing these cool star projections and it was just so pretty.

RAPE TW for this next paragraph

Next was A l’enfant and Tu vas le payer. Nothing really changed story wise but our Leia was soooo good and was such a great dancer. And I noticed the lady playing the role of child Morgane in the story had such great expressions and body language and tbh the same can be said for the entire ensemble they were amazing. Anyways our Morgane was really amazing too her expressions were also soooo great and I’m running out of adjectives bc it’s three am a;ldkfjad;l but anyways the way things go down for these two songs is about the same in the french but the staging is different obviously like instead of the party scene it’s mostly Morgane jamming out with the ensemble then they roll Arthur and Guenièvre in on rolling platforms and then Morgane waves her arms bc magic and she does the same movements as Guenièvre so it looks like she’s controlling her which I thought was a cool way to do that. Afterwards Arthur is obviously very distraught but instead of Merlin being like “you have bigger problems your people are dying” Arthur runs off stage to (hopefully) process what just happened so i appreciate that there’s that moment instead of just rushing on to the next thing.

Next was Guenièvre’s garden and Lancelot’s arrival, which was really cute bc her handmaidens blindfold Kay and have him try to find one of them and he ends up in Lancelot’s arms ;aldkfjsdl;k. And the way Kay tries to protect Guinevere was so freaking cute he kept throwing his arms up to protect her and she kept pushing them down then his arms would pop back up it was so cute ;ladkjfadlk

Si je te promets goes down pretty much the same, but what’s interesting is afterwards Merlin shows up and is like hey your people are dying and that’s when they have Délivre-nous! They also had ensemble member solos instead of just one singer which i thought worked really well. And Arthur’s moving among them and he tries to reach out to help them as they fall dying and i just love the staging so much like from the very beginning with the dude who rushes in to tell Arthur Méléagant is holding Guenièvre and her father captive you can just tell Arthur is so concerned about caring for his people and i love him so much ;alkdjf;aldk

After that song ends Arthur’s like hey we gotta fix this shit so he creates the round table then goes into Je me relève!! Which was a lil creepy bc that’s the exact same idea i had in my own LRA rewrite and i was like fuck did they find my blog but it fucking works y’all!!!! And they end Act I on that song and ugh it’s so beautiful i love it

Act II starts out with Dors Morgane dors but it’s not about her mother’s rape anymore, we think she’s talking about her plans for Lancelot, Guenièvre, and Arthur but that is to be confirmed. They then show ARthur and Lancelot kicking ass and taking names which i liked that it showed Lancelot had buddies besides just crushing on Guinevere lol

Next was A nos vœux sacrés which holy shit y’all. Holy shit. Both actors are so freaking good and they both hit high notes at the end of the song and i died and went straight to heaven it was sooooo amazing ;alkdjfa;ldskjfas;d also they did not paint Méléagant up like a war boy they had this like branch like mask thing??? It looked really cool omg

Next Lancelot and Guinevere had a short scene that led into L’amour quel idiot and i loved this staging so much!!!! Like instead of having him sing at their faces after the wedding he’s downstage singing and longing for Guinevere while she and Arthur are standing at the top of the steps getting ready for the wedding and i just love it so much y’all

The wedding scene didn’t have a song but Morgane sung Ce que la vie a fait de moi afterwards and holy fuck y’all i freaking died and went to heaven every time this Morgane hit a high note she was soooooo good y’all. So fucking good.

I don’t really remember much about le Serment d’Arthur prob bc i know they changed things but language barrier so I’m not 100% sure how it changed rip

Faire comme si was good but I’m so attached to the french staging of that song i still miss it ;alkdfjsad; one thing that i really really loved and preferred in this one was Lancelot and Guinevere don’t really touch?? It’s just longing gazes and at one point they touch hands and Lancelot like freezes like oh fuck she’s touching me i can’t believe it but then Guinevere pulls her hand away and he just leaves his in the same spot for a second like he still can’t believe she touched his hand and ugh i loved it the lack of touching really upped the ante on the pining and it was sooo good a;ldfkjadfkl;

Next was another scene with Morgane and Méléagant where Méléagant starts out being all like you promised me!!! And then I *think* Morgane tells him something like be patient and explains her plan but once again Korean and changes so it’s mostly speculation

I’m glad they didn’t just leave the song the way it is in the French version bc it doesn’t work very well where it is in the French one??? So I’m so happy they moved things around and tried to make things work better

Next up Merlin peaces out and Arthur????? Sings a slow reprise?????? Of Quelque chose de magique??????? No clue what he says in the lyrics but i thought it was an interesting melodic choice to bring back in the moment Arthur loses his mentor

So Guinevere gets kidnapped and Kay’s the one who actually realizes she’s gone and who took her but Arthur decides to go after her himself??? Then it switches to Lancelot who’s looking for the Grail and they kept the phrase Wake Up in English bless them but he doesn’t find Guinevere’s handkerchief until partway through the song and Niel (the kid playing Lancelot) was really great??? Like it was so much fun watching him as Lancelot ugh

I don’t remember why but Arthur then has a reprise of Si je te promets jury is still out on what he’s singing about but will keep you posted

Yoooo nos corps à la dérive man. So. Good. I’m so in love with Hong Seok’s Méléagant he’s so great and i just ;lakdjf;alkdjfd but the set was so cool they had like all these white ribbons??? That Guinevere was attached to??? Which sounds weird but it was like part spider web effect part almost shattered mirror effect???? That’s not explaining it well but it looked really cool and avant garde ish and there was a significantly fewer number of random creepy skeleton projections so i was here for it

Major difference tho Lancelot shows up ready to throw down except he gets his ass kicked and is seriously injured??? And Arthur shows up but he just listens at first so I think that’s when he really figures out what’s up between Lancelot and Guinevere but then Arthur steps in and kills Méléagant (who sings a reprise of Un Nouveau Départ before being carried off into the afterlife) (rip in peace). Arthur then leaves Guinevere and Lancelot alone while the latter dies and they sing a really sad reprise of L’amour quel idiot :(((( my son dying meant that Il est temps got cut but like they added soo many reprises and things it makes sense that they’d have to cut at least one song but still sad :(

Next Arthur talks with Morgane and I’m not entirely sure what was happening but it seemed like she was having a breakdown because of what happened and what she did to Arthur and Vanessa said that he said something like “Don’t turn into our mother” or something like that but she breaks down and spirits herself away while she and Arthur sing a reprise of Dors Morgane dors

Then it’s Tout est joué and Merlin is standing on the back of the steps while Arthur is in front of the closed screen so it was nice to have that kind of physical barrier present on stage to further emphasize that Merlin’s not gonna be helpful bc he’s now separated from Arthur rip

Next up was Auprès d’un autre which involved a lot less yelling and shit then the French version and holy shit Han Jisang fucking killed it (again) he was sooo great but Arthur lets Guenièvre go partway through the song and so the show ends with him by himself holding up Excalibur

At curtain call they sang some of Je me relève (i think) again and it was cute esp bc at the end everyone was holding a dramatic pose except Han Jisang was just quietly bopping and jamming to the instrumental outro by himself so everyone is dead still except Arthur who was just bopping along it was so cute ;alkdjf;alskdjf

Anyways it was amazing and they seemed to make changes to make the story make more sense which bless them for doing it but i loved it so much and i need to see it like a million more times it was so good a;ldskfjas;ldkfjads;lkfjasd;k

Babylonia Singularity

Not going to lie, Caster Gilgamesh’s appearance was why this is second

His interaction with the Gudas made me laugh and shipped in particular for CasGil/Gudao. His interaction is also outright damn hilarious but I do like their frenemy relationship or still one-sided love from Ishtar’s part

Gilgamesh interaction with Kingu and especially about Enkidu is defintiely my most favorite since I fall in love with their friendship. And it broke my heart especially after the passing of Enkidu and him saving Kingu because losing his best friend once is already painful for anyone who has one you considered very close to even more than your family and anyone in the world

Merlin getting his ass kicked by Fou is outright hilarious, and I enjoyed his appearance when he helped the Gudas at the end to defeat Tiamat

Ana and Quetzalcoatl… Fuck my heart really broke for them especially Ana. Once given her identity revealed, it broke me especially facing Gorgon of what she will inevitably become. Quetz on the other hand tries to help Gorgon as being the best Onee-san and it didn’t really work out…

Eresh-chan where I’m really hoping she comes home in my Chaldea this year because her interaction is outright cute to the Gudas and specially despite her role as the antagonist, she loves and cares for humanity more than anyone

Lastly, no one actually bullied Romani this time round out of joke so much. Something that makes me really happy after the non-stop bullying from every fucking Singularity

Overall this singularity I’ll look forward to seeing it on anime soon, and eventually the rest of the singularity

Solomon Singularity

Needless to say, the conclusion for the first Arc will hit in the list

The fact every Servant that the Gudas meet will come to aid them knowing it’ll be death if they fail

Merlin’s confession that he’s Magi*Mari not only shocking but outright funny since it’s the relate example that your 2.5D waifu is probably an old dude behind the screen XD

Fou’s sacrifice to revive Mash… One of the heartbreaking scene at the end

But the one that hits the worst is Romani…. Him being Solomon, Marisbury’s Servant, the Grand Servant known as King of Mages… The man who spent his entire life worrying about the humanity’s end and feels helpless when he becomes human. Yet, he never regrets it because that was what he wants from the start, the one desire he finally is able to be selfish to say what he wants from his heart…

BRING BACK ROMANI 2K19!!!!

Camelot Singularity

My favorite is definitely how Gudas rebelled at the Lion King, their real answer to King Hassan about the whole situation in Camelot will does show their character development even if it’s reader-insert.

Da Vinci’s creation of the bumper mobile with Ozymandias’s pyramid XD

Bedivere’s heartbreaking scene where he cries alone from everything that has happened and his own fears ;~;

Nitocris initial appearance and her adorable Tsundere side to the Gudas after warming up to them XD

Lancelot and Lion King’s interaction. Despite she’s a divine goddess, at least I feel there’s her old humane self when interacting with her closest knight

Arash’s sacrifice…. Yeah, I feel so bad that I don’t want to level him up to become a suicide bomber from his NP OTL

Agravain… I want to see more of his appearance despite his personality and certain views… I feel complicated about him but I want to know more about his character and even his interaction with Gareth in particular

Definitely looking forward to Camelot anime movie when it’s out!

Shinjuku Singularity

Artoria Alter riding a bike wins!

But seriously the reason this is in is actually James himself. His entire apperance and role in the story just basically win my heart

Yan Qing too especially that one scene of cross-dressing to find out where he is among the mobs in disguise

Top 5 Events:

Fate/Zero Accel Event

Again, literally any Urobutcher’s work will hit my top list

Waver’s entire role and the finale with Iskandar… Yeah, fucking fate/zero feels all over again

And his interaction with his teacher especially wanting to save him because he failed once hurts too

But the fact he easily conned his teacher lessen the pain since it hurt my st

Despite the crazy price, Iskandar actually helping Kariya to save Sakura really wins me. Only the sad thing is because this is an alternate history…

Irisviel and Artoria’s interaction, their relationship in Fate/Zero speaks louder as Artoria really becomes her knight to protect Irisviel from harm until the end

Kerry and Irisviel’s interaction… At least a possible happy ending is finally formed for them despite they have a completely different relationship

Edmond Dantes Tower

I actually missed out this event… But why this is in the list it’s because I want to fucking play this event back once the rerun kicks in!

At least after reading Solomon Singularity where he appeared to aid Gudas… And of course with the pillars regretting how they fucked up by getting him as an ally to help the Gudas..

I seriously want to play the event… That’s it OTL

Da Vinci and 7 Counterfeit Heroic Spirits

The one event that’s basically one hell of a comedy fest XD

From Jeanne Alter counterfeiting Da Vinci’s stuff to summoning fake Servants to get Guda’s EX harem skills

Mama Emiya trying to escape but failed miserably!

The Fake Servant appearance where everyone guesses and tries to comprehend their role

FAKE SIEGFRIED, NUFF SAID! The Sumainai who actually don’t wants to be a sumanai downright hurt my stomach for a while

Best scene is still the crew breaking in to face Jeanne Alter, only to find her in questionable position with Fake Brynhildr. Gudas trying to get the Servants to fight only to remind by Mama Emiya that everyone lost their motivation thanks to that

Lastly the longest “…” scene with Jeanne Alter… Tsundere definitely cranks up high on her for this entire event XD

Little Santa Alter

The final Christmas that Romani appears TT_TT

The entire reason why this happens because of Jeanne Alter’s own plan and ended up backfiring her XD

But the Gudas actually coming up with this plan really does show further development in them after bonding all the Servants they had in Chaldea

Santa Island Mask, where no one knows it’s Amakusa Shiro but Lord Santam is where everyone obviously knows it’s Mama Emiya XD

Asterious, the cinnamon roll of fluff wish for happy days like this

Jack, Nursery and Jeanne Lily friendship development is definitely why this is in the list

And Jeanne Lily herself, her development from being a Santa claus to eventually being a proper Servant after finally being able to be selfish for what she wants

Almost Weekly Santa

The fact Artoria Alter drags the Guda with her is downright funny XD

Her beating nearly everyone before giving the present is amusing to see especially giving Emiya, David and Robin Eli-chan’s special Christmas concert

This event is why Alter version is the better Artoria since she actually pretended to lose so that Jack and Nursery are able to celebrate Christmas

Slippery Caesar getting away from conning other Servants, god fucking damn it!

Lastly Jeanne Alter and Artoria Alter bickering… Yep, they really get along well as the Gudas stated

But poor Pierre’s soul clones at the end on being Jeanne Alter’s partner in the game of monopoly

Sweetest Summer Surprise(Vane x Reader)

A/n: okay, once again I will try to repost this (third time’s a charm???) Hopefully this works. Again, this was my original work that I had submitted to @lovehotelreservation ‘s blog.

Summary: As respected Vice-Captain of the White Dragon Knights, Vane has a lot to be happy about. Except, there is one thing he is surely missing out on, and that is the beloved captain of the Grandcypher.

Feendrache was a welcoming place for the crew of the Grandcypher. Praised for helping the people against illness and the cruel workings of Isabella, their visits there were nothing short of pleasant. Especially the Dragon Knights, who quickly became close friends with the crew, largely so to Lyria and the Captain, (Y/n).

It was however, quite obvious a certain dragon knight was head over heels for said captain, which he was teased about by his friends for. His once carefree attitude would suddenly become meek and indecisive, unsure about how to approach simple conversations with her. It was something Vane couldn’t help, seeing as how she was such a big supporter of him. Whatever he wished to pursue, (Y/n) had his back. She was like his very own cheerleader, eager to help and inspire him to do his best. He had to admit, it was nice to have someone so helpful.

But then again, that was also the one drawback of her being so willing to help. She helped everyone. Despite her kind words and determined grins, he realized she helped nearly every person that she could meet, wether or not they seemed rude or cold at first. It was a constant struggle between his heart fluttering with glee at the thought of her giving him special attention, or seeing her do the same with others. It was a delicate place to be in, and for that reason, he decided he wouldn’t confess.

Perhaps he mistook her actions for love when it was really just a sign of her friendship? He was frustrated over this predicament and so desperately wanted to ask his fellow knights for help. Yet his own insecurities and jealousy didn’t let him, he knew if he asked they’d probably think lesser of him. He wasn’t as smart as Percival, as strong as Siegfried, or as handsome as Lancelot, and it crushed him slightly. His friends were practically perfect on their own, they could probably have any woman they wanted with a snap of their fingers. But him? He was Vane, the loud-mouthed knight who would always be in the shadow.

“Hey there, dough boy! What are you doing?” Vane let out a girlish shriek and placed his hand over his heart, trying to calm himself down.

“Jeez Captain, you could have said something you know!” He flushed.

“I did, but you never heard me. Are you okay? You looked really out of it…” she asked, her voice laced with concern.

“Y-yeah…I’m fine now that you’re here!” He have a soft smile.

“That’s so cheesy.” She giggled “but I shouldn’t expect anything less than sweet from you!”

That smile. No matter how sad he may have been feeling, it was a miracle to have her smile. Even if she was in the arms of someone else, that grin would be all he needed to be content. He sighed loudly and looked at the ground.

“Seriously though, you look very sad. Is something troubling you? You can always talk to me, you know that right?” She looked at him sadly.

‘But you’re my problem.’ He couldn’t tell her how he felt. Despite how much these feelings were drowning him, he couldn’t just admit them and ruin his one chance at being close to her.

“Hey, I got an idea! What if we do what you want for now? I’ve got nothing going on and everyone is doing something else, so why don’t we spend together?” She grabbed his hands and smiled with a hopeful look in her eyes.

“T-together? Alone?” Vane sputtered. (Y/n) seemed to read it as a rejection of her idea and awkwardly shuffled around.

“If you don’t want it that way then I could-“

“No! I was just surprised! You know, like, why me of all people?” He scratched his hair and gave a toothy grin, leaving her shocked.

“What do you mean, ‘you of all people’? You’re awesome!”

“I dunno…I just thought that like… maybe you would’ve wanted Lancey or Percival to hang out with you more?”

“And why’s that? I thought we had a good thing going on here.” The captain chuckled.

“We do! Don’t misunderstand me! It’s just-“

“Awww, is Vane jealous?” This made her nearly riot as she slyly chuckled at him.

“N-no!” His face was erupting in red, flustered that she’d make fun of him like this.

“Aww you’re too cute! It seems I got you to feel better a bit!” She pinched his cheeks and giggled, making him puff his cheeks in embarrassment.

“You’re so mean, (Y/n)!”

“I know, I know, come on now, what do you want to do? I’m still holding that offer up.”

“Oh, right. Let’s…you pick.”

“But…this is for you?” She shook her head in confusion before she looked like she had an epiphany. “Oh I get it! I’ll pick all the things you want to do! Like a test of our friendship! Got it, I won’t disappoint!” She gave him a thumbs up and began dragging him to the palace’s kitchen.

“First, we can bake! I know how much you love it so we can make a cake together!” He beamed happily, loving the fact she knew that about him.

“Okay, but I’m warning ya, Chef Vane goes very fast!” He stated proudly.

“That’s how I like it.” (Y/n) laughed loudly.

“Good, because this might seem a bit hard for a beginner.” Vane innocently replied, making (Y/n) howl even louder.

“Thank you for that.” She murmured.

“So first, we need eggs, flour, vanilla, and sugar. Oh and milk.”

As the duo gathered the ingredients, they talked about random things that occurred while they were apart. Vane mused about how Percival cried about dropping his favorite china set, or how Siegfried nearly broke his legs trying to dance in his armor. (Y/n) talked about how Lyria almost set fire to the Grandcypher trying to toast bread, which caused a massive panic amongst the crew members. Vane felt more relaxed than earlier, practically forgetting his own insecurities and worries. It was nice to indulge in small talk like this.

It was strange how horrible the captain was at cooking, which made Vane curious as to how she made those chocolates from previous months ago.

“Sorry Vane, I think I cracked another egg wrong.” She laughed awkwardly.

“No worries. Here,” he stood behind her and wrapped his arms around hers, gently holding her tiny hands in his large ones. He scooped up an egg for her and he guided her hands on the proper way to crack them open. “See? You gotta tilt the eggshells so the yolk falls into the bowl.”

“Oh, that makes sense.” She nodded.

“Now for the flour, we need about three quarters of a cup and-“ He abruptly stopped when a sudden force hit his face, making him sputter and cough. (Y/n) giggled as he slowly wiped some flour of his eyes. With a blank stare, he cupped some flour into his hands and shook his head.

“You shouldn’t have done that. Now you’re gonna get it!” He yelled as he chucked the flour at her. She squealed in excitement as they both began pelting each other with flour, dodging and attacking in the name of good fun.

“I’m not done with you yet Captain!” Vane yelled energetically, holding the flour in his hands and aiming straight for her. She ducked in time but someone else wasn’t so lucky.

“Oh shit.” (Y/n) whispered, edging back away from him.

“Oh no, I’m gonna get killed.” Vane murmured, wrapping an arm around the captain.

“What are you two buffoons doing?” Percival quietly spoke, his voice stern and slow.

“She/he started it!” The duo pointed at each other. Percival clenched his teeth and gripped his sword tightly.

“I don’t care! You two are going to regret this!” He yelled, his face still covered in flour. The duo began screaming and running, this time out of fear for their own lives.

“Oh, hello Vane and- what the?” Lancelot was taking a stroll in the castle when he saw his childhood friend and (Y/n) running quickly, covered in flour.

“Can’t talk now bye!” Vane waved as he held onto (Y/n)’s hand. Lancelot stared in confusion before seeing, or rather, hearing, Percival. He turned his head and saw the red haired knight screaming like a maniac with his sword out, his face and part of his armor covered in flour. It was a surprising thing to see, but Lancelot couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.

“They must be having a good time.”

“I know a place where he won’t find us!” Vane shouted and jerked (Y/n) to the right, near a very hidden clearing in the forest. The two tried to catch their breath and waited anxiously for Percival to be gone. After waiting for five minutes, which felt like eternity, the two sighed in relief and collapsed on the ground.

“Jeez, I’ve never thought baking a cake could be so scary.” (Y/n) laughed.

“Thank you, (Y/n). That cheered me up a lot. Even if we almost died, I don’t regret this!” He rested his hands behind his head and stared at the blue sky above them. (Y/n) scooted closer to him and sat down, enjoying the nice breeze.

“I’m glad I helped you. You mean a lot to me, so I want to make sure you’re happy.” She softly spoke, the breeze gently making her hair flow. Vane opened his eyes widely and felt heat rise to his cheeks.

“Y-you…you mean a lot to me too. Listen I have something I want to tell you.” He gulped and lifted himself up to a sitting position. He held her hands in his and looked into her eyes. (Y/n) looked shocked and he saw her cheeks turn a tinge of pink. Breathing in deeply, he closed his eyes and tried to muster up all the courage to confess. To hell with the downsides, to hell with the risks. He needed to let his feelings be known, and if she wasn’t the one, then he would finally rest knowing at least he tried.

“I…I love you a lot! Like more than what is normal and it’s been driving me crazy! I’ve been thinking nonstop about you, and I miss you every time you leave Feendrache! Damn it (Y/n), I love you so much!” He yelled loudly. His eyes were tightly shut before he felt her hug him. He dared himself to open his eyes and saw her smiling.

“You idiot! I love you too!” Tears of joy trickled down her cheeks and Vane’s eyes widened in surprise. Overcome with happiness, he swiftly picked her up and twirled her in his arms.

“Yes! Yes! By the gods, I thought you’d never feel the same!” He held her tightly in his arms.

“Is that why you were so insecure earlier? Vane, I’ve loved you since forever. I even pretended I didn’t know how to bake so you’d be close to me!” She laughed.

“Well that makes sense.” He nuzzled his face closer to hers and wiped her tears away with his thumb. “I love you…”

“I love you too you big goof.” (Y/n) softly responded.

“Now, how about we finish that cake and celebrate our first official day as a couple?” She nodded and he quickly hoisted her up bridal style and began jogging back to the kitchen.

Bonus: Siegfried watched the new couple happily run back into the castle. He sighed in contentment and laid his head back into the branches of the tree he was resting upon.

“Looks like he finally found his princess.” He murmured, before looking at a nearby bush towards the left of him. “Percival. Lancelot. You can come out now.”

He heard the shuffling of the two men as they came forward, pride visible in their features.

“I’m so proud of Vane for confessing, it takes a lot of courage. I only hope this relationship lasts a lifetime, and may they both be happy.” Lancelot was about to continue with his prayer for the couple when Percival grumbled. Even though he had his usual self-righteous attitude, it was quite evident that even he was proud of his friend.

“That oaf mustn’t ruin my best vassal.” He turned away and folded his arms, but that large smirk on his face revealed what he was really feeling.

“Have faith, Percival. I wonder how the wedding might look.” Siegfried mused.

“Wedding? Don’t you think you’re rushing things?” Lancelot asked, dumbfounded.

“You haven’t heard half of the things he’s said to me. The poor boy was so entranced by the captain, he nearly had a heart attack the moment her name was uttered.”

“One can only hope the proposal is better prepared than this confession. I’ll help him treat my vassal to the most proper union of love.” Percival stated.

“I thought you were very angry at them? You looked like you were going to stab them with Lohengrin.” Lancelot grimaced at his friend’s scary expression.

“Oh, I will have my revenge. However, I will not deny my brother the best.” Percival chuckled.

“Does that mean I’ll walk the bride down the isle?” Siegfried asked, a joking grin on his face.
