For New Year's eve I decided I would cook myself some traditional Roman Jewish dishes, partly as an excuse to fry an artichoke. Eventually, I created a menu for myself, the Festa Alla Cinque Cibi or "Feast of the Five Foods" which I talk more about here (scroll down, I promise there's a translation). I decided to stretch the cooking over two days, in part because it's a lot to cook in one day and in part so that if something went wrong I'd have time to correct.

This is the first one I worked on (to give the dough time to rest in the fridge while I made the amaretti) but it will be the dessert course eventually. It's a dish I wanted to try in Rome but didn't get the chance to: Crostata Ricotta e Visciole, ricotta cheesecake baked in a sweet crust with sour cherries. There are a number of variations; I chose this recipe which seemed simple but reasonably accurate. I substituted Bon Maman cherry preserves for the sour cherries, but otherwise the recipe was made as written. AND I got to use my new ten-cup food processor to make the dough!

I called it Crostata Di Due Gatti (Two Cat Pie) for self-evident reasons. I'm only a little bummed I forgot to take a picture of it with the cheese filling on top of the cherry before I put the top crust on.

The bake took longer than 50 minutes to brown the crust, and I have a few suspicions about whether the recipe actually tested those weight measures before throwing them in there. The whole thing was still a little jiggly when I took it out of the oven after 70 minutes. But the thermometer said the interior was above 150F, and because I'm not eating it until tomorrow, I won't know if the cheese filling actually set until I crack it open, which should be a fun surprise.

Conveniently it used three egg yolks, because the next recipe I'm going to post in a bit needed three egg whites...

so i finished imas 2011, shiny festa, and the movie a while ago and something bugged me when i was watching it (and when rewatching) that i wanna talk abt cause idk if im just being nit picky.

i feel like imas 2011 treats some of its characters so poorly sometimes. the worst victim of this is miki, i think. earlier on in the show, i REALLY liked her. and i still do, but i feel like after a certain point she sort of lost all her personality. she already had a lot of her screentime dedicated to fanservice, and by that i dont mean the sexual boobies in your face kind (which actually does happen in the first ep iirc lmfao) but like. her winking and being cute for the camera, or doing something cutesy with the producer (who i believe is meant to be a self insert, based not only on character but also the role of the producer in. well. everything else related to imas)

but when she started her weird obsession with the producer is when it really started getting to me. the "honey!!" thing was okay at first i guess like its not the end of the world, but it got irritating very quickly. it also felt uncomfortable, considering shes 15 and the producer is way older than her. yeah i get that teens get crushes on adults all the time but it didnt seem like it was portrayed in that way. to ME at least it just seemed like boring fanservice that they refused to give up on, probably because they knew a lot of fans liked imagining themselves in producers position. i still like her but the constant fucking "HONEY!!1!1 DONT LOOK AT OTHER GIRLS HONEY!!!" makes it really hard to even though i know it aint her fault.

Azusa is another victim of something similar. i watched that whole anime waiting to find something of interest in her, and while there definitely was, it was buried under a heap of gag moments. the whole "im just a woman with big boobies and i got loostt agaaiinn ouuuhh nouu me so dumdums :(" thing just got so tiring so quickly. ive learned to appreciate her more by now but idk is just annoying how she feels like she only exists to be hot and stupid

these are all just my thoughts! i still really enjoyed what i saw of imas, i just wish it weren't so. That sometimes. but then again from what i know i think the series has always been like this. im posting this just cause i want to see what other Ps think about it, whether they agree or disagree, etc. also lmk if im just flat out wrong anywhere!! ty for reading :)

They can identify as allies because of their privilege and power, and that's something, but it's not ideal. Not yet. And some of us are in the same place. We don't all live in accepting places. Many of us don't even live in tolerant places. Some of y'all live in places where being out is illegal. And make no mistake it's not getting easier in today's world. So if you're only able to be you online, or not at all, or you hide yourself or your loved ones or friends or family members who are living in a closeted circumstance, I hope you will be SAFE first. Don't feel like you have to be loud to be you. Safety and security, needs met like Maslow, and know that I AM PROUD OF YOU. I LOVE YOU. I SUPPORT YOU. And BTS supports you, too. HELLO MARCH. welcome have a sit. Oh I have so much to say. Rae's job was chef kiss. I think it's an amazing story, and even the rpg itself is great if we keep in mind it was only supposed to be a university project (my projects suck ass so like wtf. Rae did amazing).

So yeah this got long uhm, sorry I guess? Bear with me for a sec.

AHEEM. anyway. so the story has quite a lot of references to real stories, most of them 2wink focus. Even some of the phrases itself were literal winks to them. I haven't played in a long time so I could not point out all the stories but I'm very sure shiny first years, sunshower festa, fruits parlor? were some, and of course, one of the main ones, Toyland.

See I could talk HOURS about Toyland, I have talked about that story before actually. like. 15 times I think I have posts scattered through my blog. Toyland is one of my fave 2wink stories so the fact that Rae chose it as such an important part of the story is. hhhhhwhwbbghhhdh. Many people think it's only a reference to the song (wonder wonder toyland. which is. still linked to Toyland story so yeah) BUT BUT BUTTT it has so much to do with the actual story too. I can summarize that Toyland is a story where Yuta and Hinata grow a bit apart and Yuta finds this strange confort in Yuzuru, since he thinks they're both the same. They're tied to a pink person who mistreats them sometimes they have issues communicating, and they feel trapped. This bond also happens with both Hinata and Tori who fear that their confort person will drift apart from them; so the fact that Rae chose that as a breaking point for Yuta to start realizing Hinata is gone and for Hinata to encounter the devil who says that he's hurting Yuta and that he should drift apart IS SO IMPORTANT. THE SYMBOLISM IS RIGHT THERE. BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL.

If there's something I love about Looking Glass in general (other than the fact that I cried 5 times 👍) is the message. The fact that Yuta is not alone, "we will always be with you, we will always be your friends". Isn't that strong. Isn't that beautiful.

Also don't get me started with the butterfly symbolism because I will scream. Butterflies mean different things depending on the culture, but they can mean life as they can mean death and tragedy, in some places they even say black butterflies are the incarnation of the devil; but there's another meaning that they can have and that is hope. Yuta is surrounded by hope

Anyway no yeah I'm insane, Solis said on Twitter the other day that perhaps one day she may remake some things about the game and a Looking Glass 2.0 is everything I could ever wish for.

This will be a fun one because the Love Yourself series is easily one of BTS's most versatile album series after HYYH, and somewhat less pretentious than Map of the Soul: 7.

Best of Me: Not only is this song the best example of Chainsmokers' brand of ditzy EDM, the choreo is also god tier - one of BTS's best. Hands down.

People always say the DNA era is when BTS broke out of the k-pop mold and left the rest of the industry in the dust. That's partly true, but something I think some people get wrong is ascribing all that viral success to DNA. As a noncommittal k-pop fan at the time, this album to me honestly felt like a honey trap. I remember I found Jimin's Serendipity intro cute, DNA was like a shiny new toy with all the bells and whistles (and college heartthrob Jungkook), but it was the sensory delight of all the b-sides that had me seriously looking at BTS as a group for the umpteenth time. I was scandalized by the lyrics of Pied Piper and couldn't stop laughing at the brilliance of that song. Jimin's vocals on Best of Me is some of his best work. Ever. Even if Jimin continues singing for 50+ years, his vocal delivery on Best of Me and Magic Shop will always be in the top 15.

Every song in this album I rank at least 7/10. It's a solid album.

Tear: Listen, this song is one of the greatest contributions to the genre in the history of k-pop. Scratch that. In the history of music. I'd place this song right up there with Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.

The first time I heard Tear, I felt like projectiles were hitting me at 140 bpm. The lyrics y'all. (Even Doolset's lyrics don't really do it justice but because I don't want to set a precedent here, that will have to do for now). People, BTS's music is a whole experience and for most BTS songs if you don't understand the lyrics you're missing out on like 80% of the beauty of the song. Tear is one such song. Because what they're saying in that song.. when I first heard it I thought this was the sickest break-up song I'd ever heard, and given this song has the same chord progression as Drake's Marvin's Room (Jojo's version is better), it was a near impossible feat to accomplish. When I later learned that BTS wrote that song to sing to each other (!)...

Y'ALL.

Okay I'm going to go on a tangent but bear with me here.

If you want to understand BTS, listen to their music. They write their own songs. That has to count for something. Listen to what the fuck they are saying. When Yoongi during the Festa 2022 dinner said the work of writing their music was difficult for him and every word felt like pulling teeth (paraphrasing here), how can you not listen to/read what their writing? Because I honestly think if more people did that, we'd see less nutjob theories in the fandom (and in fandom adjacent spaces). If more people actually listened to what the heck they're singing and rapping about, fans and antis wouldn't be surprised by Jin's comments on Youngji's show where he said they all constantly compromise on pursuing their own personal desires for each other and for the team. People wouldn't be shocked to hear Jin postponed his enlistment period from June to the winter season after discussing with the guys. We'd see less manti-lite theories about HYBE control over their artistic expression or their relationships with each other. We'd see less nonsense if more people actually took their music, this art they create, seriously.

Tear is in many ways the mirror track to Run BTS.

Every track on this album, with the exception of So What and The Truth Untold, I'd rate at least an 8/10.

How to value Event Pokémon

When you are trading Event Pokémon, you will face some kind of evaluations and more or less negotiations. And maybe, there is no other topic out there with such a variety of opinions. The most important rule to value an Event Pokémon is: it is completely personal.

Okay, you could feel helpless now. Especially for beginners it can be hard. And there is a bit of work required to get a feeling. I‘d like to give you some ideas and hints - but be aware that all points are influenced by my very own experience and evaluation. Let’s start to answer the following questions:

When was the distribution live? Is it a recent Event or several years old?

How was it distributed? Locally? Via unique serial code? Via universal serial code/internet connection? Were there any limitations?

How many of its kind are currently available (Pokémon type and Event type)? Was this Pokémon distributed just once on a lifetime?

Is it special in any kind of way? Is it shiny? Does it know special moves? Does it hold a special ribbon, item or similar? In what kind of ball is it (Cherish, Poke, …)?

Does it belong to a repeating event type, e.g. Tanabata festival, World Hobby Fair or Jump Festa?

What is its history? Was it self-redeemed or traded to you? Who was the original owner and who has hold it before it was traded to you?

Is it proofed? If yes, what kind of proof does it have? How is the quality of the proof?

Are there any additional important notable information? Was it cloned? Was it redeemed through a save file managed system?

Ok, now let’s evaluate your answering. Obviously, as older as the event gets, its value will increase. Local distributions are generally more valuable. An excellent proof will boost its value as well. If it is cloned, the value might be decreased rapidly. A long trade history can be value decreasing as well - if a banned user is part of its history, you might be not allowed to trade it anymore as well.

Now you have evaluated your event and you have an idea of its value and how much is reasonable to ask for parting with it. However, please be aware that this is your personal evaluation. Another trader can value the exact same event differently - that is the point where your negotiation starts. And sometimes, a trade will not take place. And sometimes it happens that a trade will not seem fair anymore after some time. But most importantly, with each trade you will gain more experience and your next trade may be easier already.

Last, but not least: Funny coincidence, last year I participated on a contest where I spoke about values of events. I haven‘t won the contest, but my entry was second place at least 😉

i have a lot of opinions about iDOLM@STER Shiny Festa (PSP)

it's fun i like it :)

Pros:

I like the gameplay loop of using the free play mode to build up "memories" and then spending them in the challenge course mode

the actual rhythm game feels REALLY nice, the note timing is a little loose but still strict enough to have the right level of "punch" to it and i am aware that this description will make no sense to anyone but me

the note charting is SUPER good, so even though there's only two buttons, there's a great rhythm flow and it doesn't feel too simplistic at all

I think the use of rails doing all sorts of crazy shapes, spawning on top of each other, intersecting and going back and forth, etc is actually sick, it's so much fun and I wish Project Mirai had been more like this

Cons:

music videos were pre-rendered using what I assume is the iDOLM@STER 2 engine on Xbox, which feels a little lame compared to in-engine renders like iDOLM@STER SP did but I get it. since it seems like the PSP doesn't have the horsepower to show more than 1-2 character models during a performance (see Project Diva), and Shiny Festa mostly focuses on larger group performances

branching off of that though, it would have been nice to have moving models during the visual novel segments! I know the story is Very simple but the jpegs feel lame to me, at least give them mouth flaps or something idk

over-use of anime clips in the music videos makes it really really obvious that this was meant to be an anime tie-in game and not entirely its own fully fleshed out experience. like it's got that "im playing over the hedge for nintendo ds" kind of feel if you know what i mean

I get that this is the "beach episode" but swimsuits always get a downvote from me idk I want cute stage outfits. they only do it in a couple of MVs so this is just me being nitpicky

the song list is short, each game only has like 20-25 songs in it which is pretty harsh for a rhythm game. having all of the games, unique songs from each one bump that list up to like 40-50 total which is more reasonable, but buying all 3 games at launch just for that would bite. imo each game should be a full experience in itself and it's a little bit lacking on that front as far as the number of songs goes

this is also a nitpick but the max note speed isn't high enough imo, it's hard for me to read triples or jackhammer type patterns

I think that like 70% of these complaints probably relate to the fact that each game came with a full anime episode, which probably took up a lot of storage space so they had less space for the... actual game...

Pros from the cons:

the pre-rendered music videos are cute!!! cute!!!!!!!

because the song list is so short, they really had to be choosy about what songs to put in so it's a very good little slice of the iM@S discography

the simplicity makes it easy to pick up and put down very quickly/play in short sessions

in conclusion, 7.5/10 too much water

Mimi não possui grandes lembranças de sua infância, afinal de contas, o mundo através dos olhos de uma menininha em seus poucos três anos não faz sentido o tempo todo. Talvez por isso, depois de tantos anos, pouca coisa lhe venha à mente quando pensa em casa – o aroma de biscoitos assando no forno, luzes brilhantes e paredes rabiscadas de giz de cera.

Parecia impossível ser ela mesma e viver com seu pai, por isso desejou muitas vezes fugir de casa para viver a vida que quisesse, mas o amava em sua própria maneira e sabia que se fosse embora exatamente como sua mãe, seu pai encontraria o fim mais cedo que o esperado. Por isso, aguentava como podia. Alguns dias discutiam, em outros não suportavam ficar separados e mais vezes do que gostaria de admitir, Minah mentiria sobre estudar no final de semana na casa de algumas amigas, para sair para dançar.

Virava noite após noite em clubes e fazia amigos aos montes. Nunca bebia por medo de perder a cabeça e ser descoberta pelo pai, mas não conhecia limites quando o assunto eram festas e aperfeiçoou a arte de entrar de penetra nos eventos mais exclusivos. Dava nomes diferentes todas às vezes que conhecia alguém interessante e se não voltava para casa, fazia questão de ser a primeira a acordar para não ser pega de surpresa. E não estava em uma fase rebelde! Só queria se divertir, e tudo aquilo que o seu pai não sabia, não o machucava.

Ela tem medo do escuro, e prefere não ficar sozinha nele. Por isso mesmo gosta de clubes – com suas luzes brilhantes e música alta, ela nunca se sente sozinha.

Pior que foi nem foi recente isso, foi em meados de Março, derrubaram alguns apps de anime da Play Store, e alguns dos maiores sites piratas de anime, algumas pessoas foram presas, e por conta disso ou os sites que restaram se tornaram grupos privados, ou resolveram encerrar seus trabalhos. E nessa jornada de caçar Idolm@ster descobri duas coisa, a maioria dos sites de anime só upa o catalogo da Crunchyroll, por isso Cinderela Girls eu acho em todos, mas o primeiro Idolmaster é difícil de achar.

Bom, eu dificilmente vejo animes legendados em português hoje em dia, por isso nem fiquei sabendo. Enfim, volto a repetir, o país tem problemas piores do que o Joãozinho baixando Naruto. Desperdício de verbas públicas.

Enfim, animepahe[ . ]ru se tú sabe inglês, tem o anime de 2011 + o ova + o filme + os 3 ovas do Shiny Festa. Não tem Puchimas infelizmente, mas não acho que é difícil de achar (tinha até no youtube até pouco tempo atrás...)

I really want a shiny mew, but they're hard as hell to get.

technically, I do have one in my copy of pokemon sun, (I was addicted to wonder trading) but it has a youtube channel as its nickname, which is just tacky. not to mention the fact that my 3ds charger barely works, and how inconvenient it is to transfer pokemon from a 3ds onto a switch.

as far as I'm aware, there were only two events that gave you a chance to get a shiny mew.

one was in thanksgiving 2002 at the new york pokemon center, where, for 6 days, once per day, you could get a special gift mew. apparently, the shiny rates were locked at .5%, (1 in 200!) but that's still not a lot when you only get 6 mews.

there was another in 2005, where, if you brought your copy of pokemon emerald to pokemon festa 2005 or the pokepark theme park, you could get an item, the old sea map. this item would take you to an island where mew would spawn. this mew isn't shiny locked, and you can soft reset to get a shiny, though shiny odds in the older games are abysmal. (1/8192)

I wasn't born yet when these events happened, but even if I was, I wouldn't be anywhere near new york, japan, or taiwan.

you can actually buy a copy of pokemon emerald with the old map hacked onto it. unfortunately, I don't have the money for a gameboy advance, or the time or patience so soft reset thousands of times.

in february 2021, there was actually a worldwide shiny mew event. you were guaranteed to get it. finally, an event in my area that I was alive to witness! ...except it was in pokemon go, which I only played for a brief time in 2018, and then quit because my phone at the time couldn't handle it. it was also paid, and required doing a bunch of stuff that I probably wouldn't have even wanted to do.

so, it seems like I'm shit out of luck for a legit mew. of course, I could do the famed mew glitch, but, as I said before, my 3ds charger barely works. even if it did work, I don't have the time or patience to do all the steps mew glitch involves.

my only options, then, would involve getting it from someone else. people on ebay sell them, but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed, and I'm not compromising my online capabilities. I don't have money, anyway.

I could try to trade for it, but I don't have anything of comparable value. with how rare it is, I seriously doubt anyone would give it away for free. even the most generous person in the world would ask for something in return.

one day, I'll get my shiny mew, but for now, I guess I'll just have to wait.
