OOOOHHH Okay! That's kinda creepy and unsettling while also really fascinating at the same time. Kinda feeds into the legend that all Honedge are reincarnated human souls, mainly warriors/knights ect. if I remember correctly
By the way my personal headcanon is that BOTH is true: That the Honedge line can be just "regular" Pokemon and that there ARE Honedges who's spirit has previously been human. Kind of like how some toys can just randomly turn into Banettes, while the species still exist as regular Pokemon who were Shuppets before.
Where DUSK falls into that category? I actually like to think he's been human before, which explains why he acts so peculiarly human and has such a strong (sometimes OBNOXIOUS) and silly personality. He doesn't hold any memories of his past lives however

gonna be real i will never understand why shuppet evolves into banette and while i like both designs i dont think, considering banette's whole doll thing, that they work as an evolution line...so i wanted to try making alternate? evo and pre evo for them that instead expand on their individual concepts instead???

do… do ghost types ever have to be euthanized??? They are (with exceptions like frillish and dragapult) already dead, right? What happens if a ghastly or yamask is gravely ill or cannot live in peace due to health conditions?
dead vs. not-dead isn't really a helpful category when talking about pokemon that are sometimes spirits haunting something that isn't really alive- an in fact, the dreepy line do fall into the category of beings that were once alive, died, and are now spirits!
keep in mind that euthanasia means "good death" and is our way of providing a painless end to pokemon who no longer have good quality of life. this is relatively rare on a physical level for ghost type pokemon- though it does happen- and tends to be more for ghost types that are so stressed, fearful, and reactive that being put to rest is the kind thing to do.
for pokemon like decidueye and skeledirge, we euthanize like we would most other pokemon by ceasing brain function, usually through injection. but with pokemon like duskull, gastly, or shuppet, which are spirits, euthanasia takes the form of helping to soothe their spirit enough to move on. it's not unusual for veterniarians to call upon the outside help of ghost-type experts to assist in instances of spiritual euthanasia! this is a really tricky process, so thankfully it's not super common to need it. i've personally observed it once with a yamask whose trainer had passed away, and it was honestly a really beautiful experience to watch, but it took a long time and involved a lot of complicated spiritual techniques.

standard-issue question, who's your favourite mon? i saw ghost favourite type so you already have great taste
and if anyone is mad about doodles that's their problem. no obligation but doodle all you want it's cute
hiya! Hehe, I see we're alike! I love sooo many ghost types, yes. but if i had to narrow it down, Chandelure is probably my favorite of all now that i'm older. (a certain electric spider aside). But I also really like the shuppet line, giratina, duskull, pumpkaboo, driftloon... really, there's so many good ghost types! But yeah, i love the palette and design of Chandelure the most. i'm goth, you see, so i just gravitate to that elegant gothic-ness of it. And galvantula is just sooo cute... but really...

if i were to answer this from my heart of hearts, it's lugia. i couldn't really tell you when it began, probably after i played XD Gale of Darkness at age 7, but it's been my favorite pokemon since. i have sooo many plushies (even one that used to be as big as me! till i grew up, of course), even a hoodie LOL. i was a lonely child, so i found a lot of comfort in my hoard of lugia. i'll keep this from getting too long! Thank you for liking my doodles and asking a fun question! TT_TT i feel welcome already!

#353. Shuppet
Tumblr media
Shuppet is attracted by feelings of jealousy and vindictiveness. If someone develops strong feelings of vengeance, this Pokémon will appear in a swarm and line up beneath the eaves of that person's home.
Colour and symbol charts can be found here.
Tumblr media
A note on colours: in my experience, floss looks different irl than in online pattern makers. If you think a different colour will work better, go with your gut!

I'm not even gonna make the snom for this post.
Let's talk about the anon problem. I have not yet been targetted, and I don't look around often enough to see what's going on. But I've seen a couple posts about what is happening, and frankly I expected better from a fellow human being.
Some of the things being said by "the anon problem" are completely unacceptable. Some of these @i-am-a-pokemon users are minors, and the things they're being subjected to are completely out of line.
This is not okay, it never will be okay.
So, @oshnom , @i-am-a-snom , @i-am-a-shuppet , and all the other pokemon I'm too lazy to ping, do me a favor, and turn off your anon asks.
And @pmseymourva , I'm sure you already know, but don't give this pitiful excuse of an attack the publicity it wants.

[A video is attached!
It's getting late out; the house is quiet, despite the saturation of Dark-types inside. The lights aren't on, only letting in a dim grey from the overcast sky outside. The kitchen, especially, is empty; other than the two Mistrests that haunt it and Deckard, head resting on the table. Oddly enough, there aren't even any Shuppet.
Basil's face is dimly lit by the laptop open in front of her, glinting off her half-glasses and making her look more gaunt than usual. She reaches for a mug of what's probably tea, rubbing at her shoulder with the opposite hand as she takes a sip. Her gaze settles on the green Dusknoir sitting across from her as she sets it down.
"So why do you care?" She asked after a beat, holding back a yawn. "Can't remember you having done that before."
Thyme blinked, recoiling slightly; a low groaning tone left his mouth. To any Pokespeech users- it doesn't mean anything, just an aimless vocalization as he uses telepathy.
Porypory, unfortunately, can't 'hear' telepathy.
Basil presses her lips together, her black lipstick turning into a thin line.
(Telepathy only written out for personal reference. It is not in the video.)
"Basil, dear, please... I just, well... hmm." He shifted, taking his own mug of tea and pouring it tastelessly into his stomach-mouth. "It's just, well... Recently, there's been... my quota, you know. It's been getting steeper as I've been getting used to everything."
"It's been six-- I don't see how that's my problem."
The Dusknoir seems to sink into himself.
"Well, it's- ah, I would- would like to ask for your help, here," he spoke with a hum. He seemed almost hopeful as he did, lifting himself slightly up. "It's simple, really! I'm only one specter, but if you were able to help me with finding and collecting spirits, even if for just a couple nights every month, I'd be able to easily clear my quotia- Basil, are you listening?"
Her tea, unmoving, is held to her lips, taking the world's slowest sip. Her other hand seems to move unsteadily as she saves whatever it is she's working on and closes her laptop, then rests on Deckard's head.
Basil remembers much more clearly what happened the last time Thyme asked for her help.
"Are you alright, dear? You seem a bit, ah..." He lifted a hand, gingerly waving it as if to catch Basil's gaze. She looks away. "You're allowed to say 'no', if you don't-"
"No." The reply comes quick, almost breathless. Under her, Deckard whines, pressing into Basil's stomach. "Can't."
"I, ah, are you sure-?"
"Yes." She feels like she's going to be sick. "I'm going. To. ... Bed. Please leave."
A bit nervous, Thyme phased out of the chair he was sitting on and floated back. With a sharp glare from his niece, he fled through the wall, knocking a pot from where it was hanging off the wall. The video cuts out as Basil shakily scoops Deckard into her arms.]

Do my Pokémon understand me?
This question is a complex one that depends highly on species, training, and socialization, but in general the answer is: Yes, to an extent.
Pokémon tend to have really strong pattern recognition and a good grasp on things like object permanence and displacement. Generally, a Pokémon can understand a vocabulary of a couple hundred words. They can remember and respond to their names, nicknames, the commands of their trainers, and the moves their trainers ask them to use. They can also pick up on words that get used around them often (for example, my Crobat hears the word “treat” and immediately shuffles over to me to beg.)
Some Pokémon, like Lapras, the Abra line, the Ralts line, Shuppet’s line, Chansey, Audino, and a surprising amount of others have a lot stronger of a grasp on language. While they might not pick up on all the subtleties of things like grammar and syntax, they can understand and internalize information that they hear. You may have read a famous story a few years back about a Lapras from the Whirl Islands. It found an injured surfer who told it to go find help on the mainland and bring medical help. The Lapras understood him and was able to actually find a Nurse Joy who it ferried out, saving the surfer’s life. This was a really clear example of the Pokémon understanding that the man was hurt, listening to his request, and then choosing to fulfill it.
Pokémon are incredibly smart creatures. Some of them are far more intelligent than humans. Even those who don’t have “an IQ of over 5,000” (looking at you Alakazam. We all know that you made that up,) are able to listen to and understand their trainers. That, combined with things like empathic abilities, body language, and nonverbal makers of communication all add up to a very strong bond between Pokémon and their partners

Can you tell more about your cannibal shaymin OC who hates being in land forme? idk her name but she seemed cool... I like pokémon OCs and she had a really neat look and vibe about her... any other poké OCs you have would be neat to learn more about too!
(Under the cut for courtesy.)
Whoa, so interesting for her to be remembered, I made her years ago... (2019 mayb?) She wasn't as developed as some other concepts of mine, I never settled on a name proper, but I think of her as named something kind of severe. Like 'Clarity'... in contrast with her very sick, hazy mind.
She's genuinely just a vvvvery very ill, disordered individual, I imagined her very troubled when developing as a baby, put-off and violent towards any littermates or parent figure. She's not very old... young adolescent? And her diet is 'improper', as shaymin aren't meant to predate on other pokes, so she is underweight as her body isn't absorbing nutrients properly. Though I think unlike our world, pokemon are magical, enough that there is some wiggle room, esp as a pseudo-legendary... so her diet won't kill her, just hobble her, maybe further her unwellness. It's not exactly a hunger like a normal predator, it is something possessing her to do this, I would say almost like a delusion (that this is her 'destiny' in some manner, that's why it 'feels so good'.)
Eventually she was slated to have a mate that was a very overweight vaporeon my wife developed, one that got really good at hunting in its own habitat ww... I knew my wife was thinking about her being drowned, pulled into the lake by him.
As for OCs, I have several, many were made during a particular winter in 2017 where me and my wife sat down to design several pkmn to pair with one another. :3 Most of them compiled here & most didn't get a name. I think only the zigzagoon had one, 'Dart'... His mate, the persian with a blue gem, is named Lapis. I remember their narrative was one where her owner desperately wishes to breed her for her rare color mutation, but she is so persnickety and will not deign any proposed sires... The owner isn't cruel so doesn't force anything into her. But then she becomes charmed by a dirty little stray zigzagoon and instead obsessively wants to groom, cuddle, mate with him lol, and the owner just has to be like sigh, if this is what she wants....
I believe the chinchou was paired with a goreabyss that was very saturated (from her successful diet, much bloodsucking done ww), they meet oneday and she decides to not... kill him, for now. (?) The shuppet paired with a swirlix that is repulsed by sweets, thus suffers from a poor diet also. When the swirlix is unwell, the shuppet is able to feed on her negative emotions, and when the swirlix gets nursed back to health by shuppet, then it is his turn to become lethargic and unwell (no longer able to feed from her.)
Butterfree, electrike etc. were all just design pitches, not developed.
Since I really like the 'chu line, I had various sonas of them also. I had a 'set' of 2 pichu which were 'composite sonas' to represent myself, born from the same egg but instead of recognizing one another as siblings, saw each other as halves of the same whole. Technically they have defects effecting their development, improper tails and one has lop ears (cartilage issue?) Their egg was abandoned, so they have no troupe, and they're unable to be kind to one another actually... so they're sort of doomed to die if no one takes care of them. There's alternate timelines where, if they're somehow very lucky, they are able to evolve into pikachu/raichu... but then just become absolute monsters like that. Like I mean flat out going to become rapists kfkfkf
The pikachu, Muka, was an exploration of if those pichu weren't born separately, instead combining into 1 being. In this case, the lop-eared one would be melanistic (which I sometimes think of 'shadow' pokemon as being that in this world) ; the result is Muka is very visibly a chimera. He is still abandoned as an egg, and development was very difficult, but he has a 'more complete mind', less fractured.
One of my most recent sonas was Hondew, I made him like, early ~2021 or something... another chimera. (This concept stuck w/ me for a sec...) I have a write-up of him still:
"As a trapinch (and vibrava) he was a very simple minded creature, highly food motivated. would overeat if he could. but he was just getting by in the desert and could only do so much. Surviving to his final evolution was good fortune. The resulting intelligence and stats boost... are used all towards his high food drive. but now he also has the ability to enjoy playing with his food, and devise ways to hurt things.
his moveset is focused on paralysis (mean look, thunder fang) to slow things down and avoid giving chase(or being chased). he's not a fast flier, nor can he fly very high. as he gets fatter and less mobile, it means he problem solves how to work around these things. enabling him further..
he delights in eating baby pokemon and eggs, there's a sick enjoyment in doing so. and he clears the area of unwanted competition by making an inhospitable environment where there's a dirty rotten baby eater on the loose ! :(
He'll never pick a fight directly with a pokemon as high leveled as him. he has patience and tenacity on his side. he will play the long con of harassing you, tormenting you, and evading you with a tricky moveset. and most pokemon just would rather live elsewhere, where the competition is more manageable and there isn't a huge jerk nipping at your heels every second.
he likes to manipulate things in his hands, and the frequent use makes them more dextrous than most flygons. he can often be seen holding something. meticulously running his claws over it. in the case of avvy's shinx, he loves to touch her fur and carries her around everywhere. she's very novel, as shinx are not native to his deserts. he keeps her on a whim, but grows very attached to her over time"
Aside from him I think my most recent exploits were these other unnamed ones, a salandit and a togekiss. The togekiss is there to love and fuss and chuff over the little archen that nips at it, and the salandit is endlessly consuming cutiefly. I have a liepard and nidorino in the works, but they're indistinct in my mind still...
(Often I suppose naming the pokemon doesn't always come to mind bc they are equivalent to wild animals & sometimes it just doesn't really feel important or cross the mind.)
My only other OCs I belieeeve are in PMD verse, compiled here. Their narratives are not very different from the plot of their respective games. I think only the PMD sky set of phanpy (Vvyrd) and vulpix (Vivi) deviate, as Vivi evolves and her nature changes as a ninetales, she eventually steals Vvyrd away into the mountains to live in isolation. The skitty/mudkip were only from playing the demo fr DX so I don't think they had proper names... The super team was of a bulbasaur (Periwinkle) and fennekin (Wish) !
That's!!!!!!!!! Everything I think...........

Oh, I don't know if someone's asked this before, but what would Peach's favorite Pokemon of each Type be?
Peach would walk around the lab, trying to decide what’s the top of each type, in a moral dilemma at every turn.
Water? Ok, pretty easy toss up, she has two water type Pokemon by choice, so that’d be a Dreadnaw or a Golisopod, she did the Galar gym circuit with a particularly shy Golisopod who totally destroyed its foe despite the nerves it had, and it really impressed her. She gave it so many opportunities to retire but it was really brave despite being a big wuss haha, still is on the island to this day.
Fire... I mean Torkoal is neat, nothing wrong with a heatmore, she knows Charizard well, handles enough of them. But with Val staring at her, almost reading her mind like some creepy horror movie character? Has to be a vulpix. Or peach is dead haha! How could she betray such a loyal partner by choosing anything else?
Grass. Damn man, so difficult. The greenhouse is rife with Pokemon, all excellent. Oddish started her love, but meganium is one of her actual starters, and bulbasaur! How cute are those. Cherrim, sunflora, bellossom? Dammmmmn difficult choice. She would circle the idea of choosing just one for hours. Perhaps the others would be easier to do first.
Electric, vikavolt, or maybe a magnemite. Cute, small.
Rock...uhhh, onix are beloved. Gigalith are neat too... she has a soft spot for bonsly. But i suppose, based on her work with them, she's got a very hot headed Midnight Lycanroc who works guard duty, and that has to be top of the list for her. purely because of its fiery nature.
Ground, toss up between Donphan and Steelix.
Normal, SO hard to pick theres so many good ones. Stantler or Ursaring if she's real honest with herself.
Fighting, Pangoro are great fun, but Heracross are a firm top fav.
Fairy, Ribombee or Florges for sure, both equally great!
Dragon would beeee...hm. Noivern line, very cool, big personlaities.
Bug. Super tough, loves a bug. Paras hold a special place in her heart.
Ghost. I man she's nervous around ghosts, but Shuppet are very useful, and Phantump are very sweet.
Dark. Shiftree or Tyranitar for sure, she's connected with too many of those to not think of them first when talking dark types.
Psychic, probably Elgyem. Has worked with one for a long time in her personal training time. Has come to love them.
Poison, a family fav typing, she handles so many! Bulbasaur or Roserade come to mind, but damn, Nidos are cool!
Ice. Not a fan, but likes Sneasel a lot! Plus they adapt to warmer climates just fine.
Steel - Scizor or Bronzong for sure!
Flying Crobat, Tropius, Noctowl...how is this so hard to pick just one?!
This is always so hard to do, it's sat in my draft box for so long!
