you know what trope drives me absolutely feral? Repetition. Just :
"Hey, hey, it's okay"
"Shh, you're safe, you're safe, it's alright "
"Look at me. Hey, look at me"
"Stay with me. Come on, just stay with me"
"It's over. It's over now."
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry"
"I'm here. I'm right here"

Give me more shaking whumpees.
Give me whumpees who are shivering so much from their high fever that they can't even hold a bottle of water up to their lips, leaving caretaker to hold it for them like they're bottle feeding a baby animal.
Give me whumpees who've lost so much blood that they're pale and trembling violently, their skin cool to the touch. Their body is desperately trying to keep them warm, but with each new shudder they're just bleeding more and more.
Give me whumpees in shock- whumpees who find out something so emotionally distressing that they can do nothing but shake, eyes fixed on a single point, jolting away from any touch.
Give me more shaking whumpees.

There’s something about a whumpee just sitting down. Not fainting, necessarily. Maybe they’re just about to faint, and they quietly just kneel on the ground at a time and place that doesn’t make sense. They don’t even have the capacity or willingness to articulate why they need to abruptly stop and sit. Maybe they’re catatonic while the others look at them.
Maybe a caretaker can see the dull, vacant look in their eyes and immediately senses that something is seriously wrong. Maybe the fainting comes just a few moments later.

List of symptoms
I hate having whump fantasies that involve some vague fever that doesn’t have consistent symptoms to make it feel real. Here’s a handy list to flesh out the nature of your whumpee’s illness.

Sneezing
Coughing
Headache

Nausea/vomiting
Abdominal pain (burning, stabbing, soreness)
Chest pain (burning, stabbing, soreness, tightness)
Pain/pressure behind the eyes
Feeling too hot or too cold
Weakness
Blurred vision

Body Aches Sickfic Prompts🤒😫:
1: Constantly clinging to caretaker because everything hurts, they're miserable, and they don't know what to do with themselves.
2: Crying any time something cold touches their sensitive body.
3: Being extra sensitive to bumping into things, or to rough touch.
4: Just straight up inconsolable crying because they feel bad all over and they're just fed up.
5: Cuddling with caretaker in a warm shower/bath.
6: Being fed pain meds by caretaker.
7: Whining while getting a massage from caretaker, because even the lightest touch hurts.
8: Curled up in bed, not wanting to move and swaddled in blankets.
9: Being super uncomfortable on a car ride because every bump is painful.
10: Making a bed for themselves in whatever the warmest room in the house happens to be.

Caretaking that is casual. Caretaking that's domestic.
You're sick, but it's just a cold. You're exhausted and sleepy, but it's nothing too serious either, so there's no need to worry.
So you're on the couch, sipping tea, trying to read, ending up just lying there, huddled under your blanket, drowsy and halfway to sleep.
Meanwhile, your partner is sitting next to you, also reading. Or playing a video game while you are watching, blinking tiredly but happy to be entertained in this way.
Or it's your friends. They're chatting, talking about their days. Watching a film. All reading. Studying. Playing cards.
And you're just sort of... there. They ignore your sniffling, don't mind when you blow your nose. They don't think you're gross or annoying. Occasionally, somebody might walk by and absent-mindedly pet your head. Squeeze your shoulder. Without even really looking at you.
"You okay?", somebody says, half-amused, when you sneeze forcefully.
"Fine", you mumble, closing your eyes again.
"You want tea?", somebody asks, but it's just an afterthought. They were already on their way to get tea for themselves.
"You warm enough? Want my jumper?", somebody offers. But it's only because they just took it off since they felt too warm.
You're literally just... there. Like a pet. Still part of it even though you can't do much. And you're so happy to simply be around them, feel included. Know you are cared for even though the illness is not that bad. Know you are loved without having to do anything for it.

one of my favorite things to imagine is atsushi noticing akutagawa being kind of sluggish and a little pale...he pulls off a glove to press his palm up to akutagawa's forehead to see if he has a fever and of course he does 😭 "You're burning up, you should be at home!!!" he tells him all pouty and expects akutagawa to argue or smack his hand away but he's so out of it that he's too defeated by being caught to say anything back 😔 and i love the idea of akutagawa laying his head on atsushi's shoulder cause he's so tired 💔 he's been working for days without sleep and he doesn't feel good 💔💔

When the whumpee is really, REALLY out of it with a high fever, and it's making them really worried and anxious, so their partner has to reassure them, explaining every little thing they're doing to whumpee.
"I'm going to put a nice cold towel on your head, honey, it's going to feel really pleasant."
"You can't keep lying in those sweat drenched bedsheets. I'm going to change them for you, okay? Fresh, dry sheets feel so much better."
"I'm going to give you a little sponge bath, alright? Just some lukewarm water and a soft sponge..."
"Are you tired, love? I'll dim the lights for you so you can take a nap. And it'll help with your headache."
"I'm going to take your temperature again, dear, we need to keep an eye on that fever of yours... I know that the thermometer feels really cold, but bear with me for a moment...."

having soft thoughts of a sickie feeling guilty about puking up all the food caretaker made for them with so much love and care:
sickie having to maintain appearances, even as their poor stomach revolts agaisnt the heavy meal sitting inside it
sickie who can't help but grimace at the sight/smell/texture of the food, which makes caretaker think they might've messed it up
sickie clutching/hugging their middle as they try their hardest not to puke, thinking of the smile caretaker had on as they watched them eat, thinking they finally were starting to recover
sickie who has a hand clasped over their mouth, holding it tight to keep the food in no matter what, even to the protests of caretaker who's trying to tell them to just let it out, don't try to hold it
sickie who ends up losing the barely digested food over the blankets, sobbing apologies to a caretaker who's more worried about their well-being than anything else

as much as I love whumpees who are just absolutely knocked out by their illness, there's something equally great about whumpees who are just barely there. their eyes are still open a sliver, and when caretaker moves across the room they track their movements lazily. they don't have the energy to speak but they don't need to- the pained look in their eyes and the weak groans they're able to make tell the story well enough.
they're not conscious, but they're not unconscious either. they're just... in between. drifting. too sick to be alert but also too sick to fall asleep comfortably.
all caretaker can do is sit by their side with a washcloth to gently wipe the sheen of sweat from their forehead and soothe them with reassurances that, judging by that glazed look in their eyes, caretaker isn't quite sure they can even understand.

Whumpee being unable to lie down comfortably for whatever reason. Maybe they’re traveling or are wounded in a way that doesn’t allow them to recline. Maybe they have a lung infection that requires them to sit upright.
Imagine Caretaker sitting beside them with a folded rag or cushion on their shoulder that they let Whumpee rest their head on. Whumpee is finally able to fall asleep leaning against Caretaker.

Hot water to a whumpee after they’ve lost a lot of blood who’s too dehydrated and weak to stay awake and are also very cold
Hot tea to a whumpee with hypothermia who’s too numb or shaky to drink it themselves
Cold water to a whumpee who just woke up after fainting from heatstroke
Hot broth to a whumpee who hasn’t eaten anything substantial in a long time and has trouble keeping most food down
Hot broth, plain oatmeal, or okayu to a whumpee who is extremely nauseous
