You had spent the last few hours studying in your room. A lazy Saturday with Max being out with her new friends, your mom and Neil taking another shopping trip to the city, and Billy having weekend practice for the upcoming tournament gave you the house to yourself. You were enjoying the space and freedom, paying bits of attention to the radio droning in the background and making sure you were up to speed for Mrs. Click’s quiz on Monday.

Hearing the familiar sounds of keys jingling, you checked the clock on your bedside table and knew it was Billy returning home from his practice. Your door was open, but he didn’t seem to notice you there as he stalked to his room.

Your doors faced each other at both ends of the hallway with the bathroom in between, so you had an immaculate view when he peeled off his shirt and tossed it to to the ground, the muscles in his back creasing in symmetry as he stretched, his broad shoulders moving in time with his arms as he brought his hands together, clasping his palms and pushing them forward.

You didn’t even realize you were staring, mouth fully agape, taking in the sheen of sweat sprinkled across his golden skin, the dip in his lower back where his waistband sat just below, and the definition in his strong calves as he went through the motions of stretching out his hamstrings, still facing away from you.

You wanted him.

Wasn’t that wrong on some level? Of course you’re not actually related, but what would he think if he knew? Did he know?

You averted your eyes immediately as he dropped his shorts to the floor, covering your mouth and turning to face the other way in your chair. Your entire body tensed as you tried not to make a single sound for fear that he would notice you and put two and two together.

You didn’t look at him naked, at least. That would’ve been too far, and you didn’t want to disrespect Billy, your new step brother, who had been so kind to you despite the reputation he seemed to have with everyone else.

You heard Billy’s bare footsteps padding up the hallway, so you turned back to face his direction once again. Damp, messy curls framed his face, a green towel secured around his waist, and a knowing smirk resting just above his sharp jawline, he shot you a wink before turning into the bathroom and closing the door. Your cheeks seared with panic as you tried to process what you just experienced.

He had to have known you were looking at him. He obviously knew. Did he do that on purpose? You tried your best to refocus on your studies, but it was no use. You heard the sprinkling of the shower in the next room and couldn’t stop fighting with yourself over confronting Billy about what he had just done.

You had been busying yourself with folding your laundry while your mind turned the idea of Billy wanting you to see him like that over and over. You had resolved not to address anything with him right now, but to wait it out just to make sure you weren’t imagining things.

You had just moved here, and you didn’t want to make things awkward for the family. You especially didn’t want to get Billy in trouble with Neil. You folded another Van Halen t-shirt and added it to the neat pile of folded shirts on your stripped mattress. You heard the buzzer on the dryer go off, signaling that your sheets were ready for pickup, and you turned toward the doorway.

“Jesus, Billy!” You jumped when you saw Billy leaning on your doorframe wordlessly, his hair dripping tiny water droplets onto his shoulders that hung like dewdrops on his chest, smirk still in place with his towel around his waist. “How long have you been standing there?”

He scoffed and looked toward the ceiling. “Long enough,” he said simply. His eyes met yours, dark with something you couldn’t quite identify, and you felt the scarlet heat creeping back up to your cheeks, forcing you to look at anything else in the room.

“Did you need something?” He took his hand down from the doorframe and stepped closer to you, still blocking the exit to your room.

“Did you?” His voice darkened, and as he neared where you stood, you could see that his pupils were blown out. He was close enough for you to touch him at that point, and you ached for him. You wondered what would happen if –

“Correct me if I’m out of line, Y/N. But I swear you look at me like you want something from me. Am I wrong?” His eyes burned into yours, his gaze never wavering as he asked the most candid question he could without really giving it away. You swallowed hard, unsure of how to answer in a way that wouldn’t get you into trouble if you were somehow misinterpreting things.

“No,” you finally replied sheepishly. “You’re not wrong. But Billy –”

“I thought so,” he murmured, his jaw clenching. You were afraid of his reaction. You couldn’t tell if he was about to fly off the handle, and you could cut the tension in the room with a butter knife. “I notice you watching me, you know,” he continued, his words like suede slathered in melted honey.

“Billy, please. Please don’t tell anyone. I’m not trying to –” He took another step toward you so that your noses were almost touching.

“And you don’t know it, but I watch you, too. I can’t help it. The way you pretend to have your nose in a book on the swing in the front yard, stealing glances at me working on my car. Do you ever wonder why I have my shirt off in October?” He chuckled, looking around the room. You really hadn’t put those pieces together.

“Billy –”

“What if I want something from you, too?” he drawled, his gaze gliding over your lips before meeting your eyes once more. “What if, every night while I’m lying in bed alone in the dark, I’m thinking of your strawberry perfume and the dimples in your cheeks when you try not to smile every time I say some smartass shit? What if I count your curves instead of sheep while I try to sleep?”

His husky voice was barely above a whisper. He looked down and hissed out a small laugh. “You don’t think I notice that you leave your door cracked every time you change your clothes or that I know for a fact you’re wearing a black lace-trimmed bra and matching panties right now?” His tongue trailed over his bottom lip as he eyed you up and down.

You were completely speechless. Your mind was working a million miles a second trying to piece together all of the what-ifs and scenarios that could come of what you two were about to do, and you knew he was waiting for your answer.

“Billy, we can’t –”

“Can’t what? Have fun?” His devilish grin was torture to your core, and you couldn’t help but echo his expression. “I won’t tell if you won’t.” He ghosted his lips over yours while he spoke, and you were immediately intoxicated by the scent of his honey shampoo and the remnants of mint gum.

“Pinky promise?” You held your pinky out for him to take, confident he wouldn’t buy into your childish game, and you were shocked when he held his hand up, dropping his towel to the floor, and hooked his pinky with yours.

“Pinky promise, babe.” He lit up his blinding smile, knowing there was no turning back, and tugged at the hem of your sweater, helping to lift it over your head. “Good thing you haven’t put those nice, clean sheets back on yet,” he teased before connecting his lips with yours, warm, wet, and insatiable.

You had no idea how this would end, but in that moment, neither of you cared. All you knew was no one else would be home for hours, and you both needed what was coming after the last month of agonizing sexual tension, somehow kept a sweet secret between the two of you.

”Sunshine? Everything OK?”

Calypso woke up to a knock on her door. She had been studying for an upcoming quiz on her bed and had fallen asleep there without intending to do so. Perhaps the university, flower shop work and trying to have a social life (specifically, dating Leo) in addition to all that had finally started to take a toll on her, she thought sluggishly as she opened her eyes.

The previous evening the flatmates had decided to take an evening off from work and studying and spend some quality time together. That in reality had meant Calypso trying to get Leo more used to having fire near him. Since he was already doing fine with candles when they weren’t too close to him, she had decided to raise the bar a bit; moving a burning tealight slowly closer until it was right next to him. That had required quite a lot of persuading from Calypso in the form of kisses but since he had managed to stay relatively calm, Calypso had also made him hold some unlit matches. Leo had glared at her suspiciously, as if trying to ask her how that would ever help him, but she had explained that if he managed to make himself believe that matches were safe to hold, he would also be able to light them eventually. That had apparently made sense to Leo because he hadn’t protested more. In the end both had been quite satisfied with the ‘therapy session’, but it had been rather late when they had finally gotten some sleep that night.

From that her thoughts went back to the dream she had seen before waking up to the knock. She was thankful she didn’t remember the details, but she did know that in the dream she had been at her father’s place (she refused to use the word home as a part of her recovery process). That wasn’t the most horrifying part to her, though. She vaguely remembered overhearing her father talking to someone she didn’t know in another room and somehow Calypso just knew that Leo had been a part of that conversation. An almost unbearable worry had overtaken her as she had kept wondering where he was and if he was alright. Never had she been more relieved to wake up – and hear his voice – than after seeing that nightmare. Her heart was still beating a bit faster than usual and she felt a little shaky as she sat up on her bed.

Finally remembering to answer Leo’s question, she took a deep breath and said: “Yeah. It’s OK. You can come in.”

The door opened and Calypso was happy to see Leo’s curly, black hair peek from behind it.

“I wasn’t sure if you had already eaten dinner or not so I came to ask you if you’d like something… then I heard a thump from your room.” Leo’s eyes went from Calypso to the heavy history book that was now lying on the floor wide open. “Were you sleeping?”

Calypso figured she must have looked like a mess. Her hair was sticking to all directions, her clothes disheveled and her eyes were red and wet from the tears. Sitting a bit straighter on her bed, she tried to comb her hair with her fingers to look a little more presentable.

“What gives me away?” she tried to joke. Leo rolled his eyes.

“I don’t know, maybe the fact that you look like the Sandman hasn’t visited you for a week,” he remarked.

“Right,” Calypso sighed. “I was reading this book...” She lifted it from the floor and showed it to him. “… But it seems not even I can read it without getting bored.”

Trying to stifle a yawn, she put the book back on her bed.

Leo’s slight frown melted from his face. “Yeah, simply based on the cover of that book, that’s totally understandable. You should try some of our math problems and you wouldn’t be bored.”

Calypso crossed her arms. “Hey, Mr. Science Nerd, art history is actually quite interesting! The way you can determine the period when a particular piece of art has been made simply based on the style the artist has been using, or what the piece of art tells about the specific period in history… Besides, it’s pretty amazing that the people of the past have been able to create all that without the tools we have these days…”

Leo didn’t want to start an argument. “Yeah, yeah, you have a point there. I just… with my ADHD I can’t read books like that without getting distracted every five seconds. Physics? Maths? Chemistry? That's something I actually understand and am interested in so it’s easier for me to focus on it.

“Yeah… that makes sense,” Calypso admitted. Leo knew so much about the sciences that it was easy to forget that he was battling with learning disabilities.

“Um…” Leo hesitated. “Don’t know if it’s just me but you seem pretty upset. Were you having a nightmare or something?”

“I… yes, I was,” Calypso replied slowly. Gone were the times when she was still able to lie to him about something like that.

“Wanna talk about it?” Leo asked. Calypso realized that that was also development on his part; communication had never been Leo’s strong suit.

“It was… pretty bad,” she started. “I was back at my… my father’s mansion. You know, being observed by his staff the whole time just like I used to be. Not allowed to go anywhere. I think I was wandering in the hallway randomly, who knows, maybe trying to find an exit or something, when I heard my father’s voice. He was talking to some guy in his office. Then I heard… I heard him say your name. Apparently he had somehow found out about you. I’m not sure what exactly he said but I remember feeling panicked and wanting to find you as soon as possible. And that’s when I woke up.”

“Luckily, I’m right here. And so are you. And it was just a dream,” Leo attempted to cheer her up, giving her a lopsided smile and putting his hand over hers. With his other hand, he reached to brush a strand of her hair out of her face and for some reason that simple gesture made her feel the kind of warmth inside her she wasn’t sure she had felt before meeting Leo.

“I know,” Calypso sighed. “I know this is going to sound awful but sometimes… sometimes I wonder if one day I’m just going to wake up and realize this - all the good moments - was just a dream and in reality I’ve been at my father’s mansion this whole time. I’ve been trying to brush my worry away but honestly, it’s still there. My father’s been too quiet, for too long. I know him, and I have a very hard time believing that he would not care about my doings.”

“Maybe you’re right, maybe he is planning something,” Leo said, and Calypso raised her eyebrows because she had expected him to deny it all and tell her she was simply paranoid. “However, that doesn’t mean that you should face him alone if that happens. I’m not going anywhere.”

Calypso knew they had already had that debate before, and while she still didn’t think Leo knew what he really was up against, she also knew he was stubborn enough that he really was going to stick to his word. Instead of saying anything, she put her arms around his shoulders and pulled him down on her bed with her. His fingers felt warm against her waist and she could smell the breath mint he must have been holding in his mouth a moment before, like he always did when he was either feeling anxious or needing to focus on some task. This time Calypso believed it was the latter because she knew Leo had been working on a new project that he was hoping to introduce at the university soon.

She let her hands slowly roam up and down his back and he seemed to enjoy that given the quite content sigh that he made.

“I guess the thing about life is that we will never know for sure what happens next,” he said. “Everything keeps moving like a machine whether we like it or not and not even I can ever learn to stop that. What I’m trying to say is: maybe we both should learn to worry less about things we can’t control because that will make life easier.”

“Surprisingly smart words from your mouth, mister,” Calypso teased. “Maybe you should try that more often.”

“Ha ha. When did you become funny? I’m starting to think you shouldn’t hang out with me so much,” Leo retorted, lifting her chin so their eyes met.

They kept their eyes locked on each other until Leo’s goofy expression made Calypso chuckle.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh at any of this…” Calypso murmured against his shirt. “I feel so conflicted because of the whole situation. But you are right; I can’t predict the future so I shouldn’t just wait until something happens. That is why…” She stroked his jawline with her thumb. “… here and now I promise I will try to do things I enjoy instead.”

“I quite like that plan,” Leo grinned and reached to kiss her. It started slowly, like most of their kisses so far, but soon Calypso realized that it had a risk of developing into something more. First of all, they were on her bed out of all the places. Even though they had been dating for a while now, they had not yet reached this level of intimacy yet, as pretty much all of their kisses had happened either while standing somewhere in the common area or sitting on the small, uncomfortable couch. Those had always ended before getting too heated. But now, they were in her room, on her comfortable bed, lying on their sides while their lips were locked. Calypso had wrapped her arms even tighter around Leo’s back, her fingertips finding a bit of bare skin under the hem of his shirt. His hands had snuck over her ass, an act that Calypso enjoyed more than she wanted to admit. She shifted a bit and in the process her leg accidentally moved too close to his crotch, causing him to make a small strangled noise, something between pleasure and pain. Calypso blushed when she realized what had happened, putting a bit more distance between them and breaking the kiss.

“Sorry… I didn’t mean to…” she whispered, a little out of breath.

“No, it’s OK… I just… I think I need a moment.” Leo mumbled, looking just as flustered as she was. “Unless… you want to go on?”

Calypso took a deep breath and shook her head. “I’d… I’d like to… but I still think it’s a bit too early. I’m sorry.”

“Is this about those bad experiences you’ve had in the past?” Leo asked.

“Yeah. You could say that,” Calypso muttered. If only he knew...

Leo’s face turned serious, a worried frown appearing there, but he respected her wish and didn’t ask more.

“I get it. We don’t need to do anything you don’t want to.” Instead of going for another kiss, he moved his hands higher on her back, into a less intimate spot, and comfortingly stroked it. At some point, though, he stopped that and instead started tapping with his fingers. The longer it lasted, the clearer it became that he was doing some kind of rhythm that probably had a meaning. Morse code, Calypso finally realized. She had learned some as a kid when her family had spent a lot of time on a boat and her mother had wanted to make sure she had a way to communicate with her in case of emergency.

“Did you just Morse Code me something?” she questioned.

“I… uh… yeah.” For some reason Leo sounded a bit surprised, as if he hadn’t fully realized himself what he had been doing.

“Can you tell me what you said?”

“Nothing you don’t know.” Leo blushed a bit. Calypso couldn’t help but marvel for a moment at the fact that somehow he looked so different when he was grinning mischievously compared to this more serious, flustered version of him.

“Then do it again,” she whispered and to her surprise he obeyed.

Once he had repeated his message a couple of times, she finally figured it out. The message said:

I l o v e y o u

Even though he had said those three words before, Calypso did not get bored of the feeling she got when it sunk into her that someone really felt that strongly about her. And that someone happened to be someone she also loved back.

“κι εγω σε αγαπω*, you weirdo.”

“Wait, what?” Leo stared at her with wide eyes. “Did you just say something in Greek?”

“Maybe. Nothing you don’t know, though,” she stated calmly, repeating what he had said earlier.

“Oh. Alright.” He buried his head into the nape of her neck and gently pressed his lips against it. “So you understood it?”

“I did. I learned Morse Code at my childhood home.”

“Me too,” Leo replied. “My mom taught it because she said you never know when you might need it.”

“Maybe we have something in common. My mother thought the same way.”

“Really? This might sound random, but I’d like to know more about her, and you know, your time together. What was she like?” Leo asked curiously. Calypso hadn’t talked about her a lot but from the little she had, she hoped that she had managed to paint a picture that she didn’t hate her mother the way she did her father - she was simply distant. Although, there had been moments when she had wished that her mother would have tried to stop her father and come to get her back to Greece… but she never had.

Calypso started telling her story. At some parts Leo also gave glimpses of his home life before the tragic loss of his mom, and Calypso felt that with each sentence she learned something new about him. The physical connection between romantic partners might be nice, she thought, but the peace she felt when she could share something that important with her partner - and he understood - was even more satisfactory.

WIP: Sneak Peek (Jaylos Fluff)

So, my hand slipped and I ended up drafting a significant oneshot’s worth of Jaylos fluff last night. I just intended to write a cute drabble since I wasn’t in the right headspace for writing my darker WIPs. But anyway, 10 notebook pages later... I’m halfway through writing/editing a piece that will be comparable in tone to We Lose Our Minds in a City of Roses.

(Even more Jaylos fluff in the works once I hit the Comfort part of Motherless Child; however, that fluff will be cathartic aftercare for the world of Hurt that proceeds it, so... very different than what this little project will be like.)

This upcoming oneshot has nothing to do with V-Day plot-wise, but hey, it’ll still fit the mood of the season, so I’ll aim to have it finished before the 14th. Just gonna leave a few non-spoilery excerpts here in the meantime:

“What were you singing?” Jay asked quietly, opening his eyes. He felt the comb stop mid-way through his hair, with the teeth pressed gently into his spine. “Cee?”

Carlos rolled his eyes. “First time you said something funny today,” he replied drily, rolling onto his back and folding his arms behind his head as he got comfortable on the carpeted floor. When Jay raised an eyebrow at him, Carlos smirked. “Them’s fighting words, De Vil.”

“You’re right,” Jay declared with conviction. “You never stood a chance like this, so let’s try something else…” He drummed his fingertips against Carlos’ freckled cheek as he thought on it, then nodded to himself. “I’m gonna quiz you.” Carlos responded with a muffled but distinctly confused noise.

GameCity 2019

Our team met up with game designers and fans to talk about games, new developments and their motivation to play. We got some insights into various genres of games and experienced a blast from the past playing all-time favourites Mario on the NES, PAC-Man and NeedforSpeed.This weekend Yula Works went to Vienna to visit the GameCity convention 2019. We took a sneak peek at new games and got to know the mechanics of widely known and loved games.

GameCity 2019 GameCity is a game fair and exhibition which takes place each year in the city hall of Vienna. The event lasts for two days and offers the opportunity to try the newest games and hardware for free.

Luigi's Mansion 3 – game review

We played the newest addition to the Luigi games trilogy. Luigi's Mansion 3 is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a friendly and non-violent game rated PEGI 7+ and ESRB Everyone. The game is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Chinese. The game has single as well as multiple-player modes.

The story tells about Mario's brother - Luigi. Luigi, Mario and Princes Peach are invited to stay in a luxurious hotel which turns out to be a trap from King Boo. Luigi manages to escape, while his friends are captured. Now Luigi has to find the missing elevator buttons to access the seventeen floors and rescue his friends. On the way he has to fight ghosts with the help of his vacuum cleaner "Poltergust G-00", a ghost dog and Gooigi, a doppelganger made of green goo.

The game is designed very nicely. Its a 3D cartoon game like the other Luigis Mansion games. The atmosphere is spooky and pretty dark but not frightening. Each floor of the ghostly hotel in Luigi's Mansion 3 has its own theme, from the Egyptian pyramid style floor with tomb rooms to a disco floor or a pirate restaurant. -Tim, yula works

To get through a room/level a player has to solve puzzles and suck all ghosts into the ghost vacuum cleaner. A player navigates with the stick controls and with A/B/X/Y-Buttons use abilities. Single player can alternate between Luigi and Gooigi, letting Gooigi do the work Luigi can't as going through spikes or slipping in tight spaces. By passing a controller to a friend you can play as Luigi and Gooigi in cooperation. There is a multiplayer mode in wich up to 8 players can play together or against each other. Luigi's Mansion 3 doesn't have any educational or pedagogical aspects. It is only for entertainment. However some features can be added to provide pedagogical aspects. For example, every once in a while when a player kills a ghost, he gets some fact that he has to remember in order to solve a quiz before changing the floor. Or there can be implemented some kind of a memory game. A player has to pay attention on hidden things and before changing the floor/level answer how many of particular things were there.

Overall we liked the game a lot, even though it took us as novice players some time to get used to it.

Title Study Date Pairing Henry x Reader Fandom Once Upon a Time Summary Request: "Can you do one where Henry and his girlfriend are in his room and they begin kissing and making out or whatever and then Regina and/or Emma walks in on them" Warning None Study Date For IcedCoffeeAddict A/N: so I watched the sneak peek for 7.1 and damn Jared grew up! In light of that, I think I can manage some making out and maybe even some smut as long as its 16-17 year old Henry. Younger Henry will still be platonic. So we'll say they're like 15-16 here. "Hey, (y/n)," Henry greeted with a smile as he sat across from you at the lunch table. "Hey, Henry," you returned with a light blush, taking a bite of your sandwich. "Are you still coming over after school to study?" he inquired, taking his own lunch out of his paper bag. You nodded. "I was thinking I could just walk home with you?" He smiled. "Sounds great." You and Henry had been dating for about six months now. You were still shy and awkward as you were each other's first partner, but you trusted him completely, and both of his moms loved you. After the curse was broken and Emma decided to stay in Storybrooke, life went back to normal. Mary Margaret went back to teaching, and Regina remained the Mayor. Emma was still the sheriff and everyone else found jobs around the town. That meant that you and Henry had to go to school. You had nearly every class together and often got paired up for projects. That led to your current situation. You recently had to do a science project together which required several hours of after-school bonding. You got to know each other and when your project came in at the top of the class, Henry asked you out to celebrate. You, of course, said yes, and you'd been inseparable since. School finally ended, and you met Henry outside by your tree. It was a lonely tree behind the school that had become your guys' "spot" when you wanted to be alone or when one of you was upset. Henry's charming face came into view and you beamed. He offered his hand, which you happily accepted before turning in the direction of his house. Your fingers laced and he gave your hand a gentle squeeze, causing a blush to dust your cheeks. "Emma or Regina?" you inquired, wondering whose house you would be studying at. "Emma," he replied. "She said she would have a lot of cases to work on so we shouldn't be interrupted." "I bet Regina loved that," you giggled. He chuckled in agreement. Emma trusted Henry and knew that even though he was a teenage boy with a girlfriend, he was smart and respectful, and she was sure that not much more than studying would occur this afternoon. Regina, on the other hand, was overly cautious when it came to Henry, and she was convinced that the two of you would end up naked if left alone for too long. You finally reached Emma's apartment and he unlocked the door, letting you saunter inside. You headed to the couch and set your books on the coffee table, opening up to the chapter you had an upcoming quiz on. He sat beside you, smiling somewhat nervously. He took out his notebook so the two of you could trade notes. You spent a good hour studying and focusing solely on school, but Henry's leg innocently brushing against yours and the incredible way he smelled was too distracting. You both looked up at the same time, bumping noses. You tried to laugh it off, but he had a different response. His hand grasped your chin, tilting your face up. His soft lips captured yours and sparks ignited in your mind. You kissed back after a shy hesitation, your pencil slipping from your fingers and tumbling to the floor. His hands rested on your cheeks, his lips melding perfectly against yours. Your hands rested atop his as you slid back on the couch, resting against the arm. He lingered above you, moving one hand so that his arm could support his weight without laying on you. You let one hand tangle in his short brown locks, and he hummed at the sensation. His own hand slid up to hold the back of your head, fingers clutching your (h/c) strands. Just as your other hand rested on his chest, the lock clicked and the front door pushed open. You broke the kiss with a gasp, both of you looking at the door as Emma sauntered in. She stood, dumbfounded. "Sorry, kid," she chuckled, averting her eyes. She shuffled over to the counter. "I left a case file here." "You're not mad?" you questioned cautiously. She shook her head. "Don't worry - I won't tell Regina either." "Thanks, Mom," Henry murmured as she left. He turned back to you. "Maybe we should get back to studying." You nodded, internally pouting as he sat up. He pecked your lips quickly before turning back to the books. "Is World War II going to be on the test?" you asked with a pout. Wars had never been your strong suit. They weren't interesting enough for you to remember. Henry nodded. "Hey, I have an idea." "What's that?" He picked up the practice quiz. "I'll read you the questions from the practice quiz, and for every one you answer right, you get a kiss." You smirked. "I like that idea." He began reading off questions. You fumbled on the first two, so Henry scooted in closer, pursing his lips to entice you. You groaned. "That's not fair, Henry. Making me look at your mouth will only distract me more!" He chuckled, backing away. Frustrated with your lack of kisses, you lunged forward, settling yourself on his lap. Your legs rested on either side of his hips as you knocked him backwards. He chuckled at your assertiveness, his hands resting at your waist. "Maybe I should quiz you," you murmured, leaning in close to his lips. He turned his head to kiss you, but you sat up just in time. He pouted as you picked up the practice quiz and began reading questions. He answered many more of them correctly than you had, causing you to pour and him to grin proudly. He took the paper from you and tossed it to the floor, his hand resting on your cheek. He brought your lips down to his, kissing you slowly and lovingly. You hummed, losing yourself in the kiss. Your hands rested on his chest for balance as you returned the kiss with all of the love you felt for him. He was always so gentle with you, so respectful. This was the most he'd ever even kissed you. He was always so cautious and worried that you wouldn't want him to. You were so lost in the kiss that the door opened before either of you could react. "What the hell are you doing with my son?!" You knew that screech immediately. You sat up, blushing furiously as you stared down a huffing Regina. "Regina!" Emma's voice called as the blonde stepped into view. "Leave them alone." "Excuse me?" Regina scoffed. "Did you see what they were doing on your couch?" "It's called kissing," Emma replied. "Henry and (y/n) are good kids. Leave them alone." Regina turned and stormed out of the apartment. Emma turned to you two apologetically. "You might want to relocate to (y/n)'s place, kids." With that, she left. You and Henry simultaneously burst into laughter and his moms' reactions to your situation. You stood up, packing up your books and leading him outside to your house, where you spent the rest of the afternoon.

#129: When It Feels Like Everything’s Going Wrong

House projects don’t always go smoothly. We’ve all been there (heck, we’re there right now with the duplex renovation) so we’re sharing some new strategies that we’ve been relying on to keep our spirits up whenever a renovation feels overwhelming, gets delayed, or hits some other unexpected snag. We’re also discussing some upcoming bathroom trends (one of them shook Sherry to her very core). Plus we’re officially starting our no TV challenge.

What’s New

If you missed the first few mentions of our fridge delivery drama, you can hear the initial story in Episode #126 and the discovery of the dented door in Episode #127.

Below is the photo of the “scrape” the second delivery guy discovered on the other fridge during our most recent trip (don’t mind the tiny water droplets on the door, Sherry was in the midst of desperately trying to wipe the entire issue away). See how convincing/terrifying it was? Especially because it was lined up with the handle screw, totally validating the delivery guy’s theory that a drill had scraped the finish off.

And below you can see a sneak peek of the counters that we (finally) got installed. They’re the same Silestone quartz in Pearl Jasmine that we used on the island in our beach house. Can’t wait to share wider shots of each kitchen when we get them a little more settled (aka: blog post coming soon).

And in the master shower at the beach house, we’ve got an example of an “invisible” shower wall, since the glass pane we used doesn’t have any metal framing (and the consistent floor helps the shower blend in with the rest of the room).

Lastly, we talked about the “statement mirrors” we bought to use in some bathrooms at the duplex (the powder rooms, to be precise). They’re out of stock right now, but they’re huge and really nice looking. Hope they’re back soon.
