If I see ppl saying this or that theory is stupid in the tag, then yeah, I mean I feel weird posting about agreeing with that theory now bc itā€™s recently been established by some that itā€™s a stupid one šŸ˜
Like the whole birthdaygate thing. I love that theory, but after talking about it Iā€™ll suddenly see ppl in the tag hating on the theory, as if I didnā€™t just specifically mention it šŸ˜³ likeā€¦
Not saying people canā€™t have their own theories, but if youā€™re repeatedly posting in the tag, publicly, where everyone seeā€™s, about how this or that wonā€™t happen no matter what some people think, now suddenly itā€™s an atmosphere where no one knows if they can even post about those theories anymore, I just feel like it makes me look like an idiot bc Iā€™m now one of those people others think is stupid for believing.
But honestly Iā€™m also an over-sensitive person, so maybe itā€™s just me.
Like the whole byler confessional thing is something I also have no interest in. Bc it centers on this tendency fandom has to constantly bring up hot takes. Like oh EVERYONE thinks this, but I donā€™t!!!
Like some ppl will invalidate theories solely bc theyā€™re popular. Like, that will genuinely be an argument for the basis of why a theory isnā€™t solid, bc a bunch of ppl believe it.
I personally believe a lot of theories, even the crazy ones, bc itā€™s fun. Like iā€™d rather believe all of them, and hopefully some are actually accurate, than to just believe what fits with what I want to believe and play it safe.
Iā€™ll even believe theories I donā€™t necessarily like, but the story is giving me signs that itā€™s going to pay off. Like the whole byler getting murrayā€™d thing. Thatā€™s sort of a hot take now to talk about bc some fans donā€™t want it to happen, so theyā€™ll kind of push it into obscurity as something they believe wonā€™t happen, solely bc they donā€™t want it to.
But the thing is, I donā€™t necessarily want/not want it to happen, thatā€™s beside the point. The show has hinted at a lead up to this for years, thatā€™s why I believe it. So when I talk about it, donā€™t think Iā€™m pushing that theory on you despite you not personally liking it, and donā€™t assume I think byler is solely going to get together bc of a snide remark from Murray. Itā€™s simply a theory based on evidence. And itā€™s gonna be a lot more complex than Murray being the sole reason they end up together. If anything itā€™s just a small component to the pay-off of that story arc, based on the watching the show as a whole and seeing the signs leading up to it with Jancy and Jopper, followed by an endgame payoff with the main ship of the show following suit, aka byler.
Iā€™ve been in fandom theorizing before. Iā€™ve been disappointed. And Iā€™ve been impressed with fans ability to figure shit out before it played out. Tbh theorizing will always be the best part, especially when the people working on the show really care about where itā€™s going narratively.
You will never see me on here hating on peoples theories. Bc honestly most of you are smarter than me and I care about what you guys think. I also donā€™t want to rule anything out definitively, even theories I donā€™t initially like, bc who knows, they could be right!!
So if I offend anyone by talking about certain theories or headcanons, Iā€™m sorry for that.
If I ever talk about a theory that somehow directly contradicts yours, Iā€™m sorry for that.
I think despite others opinions, Iā€™m just going to try to keep theorizing things, without invalidating other theories in the process.
That just feels like the best way to go about things.
And Iā€™m gonna try to ignore ppl saying they hate this or that take when it applies to me and just post what I want to post and if some agree then yay and if no one does then Iā€™ll stfu bc thereā€™s no point in stirring the pot if no one even agrees with me anyways šŸ¤£

Ā raymond headcanons.. they aren't entirely fleshed out and they're like "what if it was like this? that makes sense". so sorry if things dont quite make sense or isn't that thought out.. also there may be errors here and there but this isn't supposed to be a polished document its just a rough collection of headcanons i haven't done much with other than like... thinking of them lol
some of this stuff i've posted before but i'm going to reshare again
polokus in origins is described as "an artist and unabashed hedonist" and i see him as just that. immature. he loves all his creations, of course, but he's not exactly responsible. he sees the nymphs more as friends than his daughters. he's more concerned with people liking him than doing the right thing. when he has his first bad dream, he cowers and doesn't want to do anything about it, or he's too scared? this leads to betilla having to do everything herself, she gets help from the other nymphs and creates rayman
the masks of polokus represent his different formes, or perhaps different eras. polokus is a shapeshifter and can be whatever he wants to of course, but he has a "default" he likes to stick with. when he finally changes his "default", a mask is made of the previous forme. for example, polokus from rayman 2 and polokus from the ubiart games are him in different "eras" if that makes sense. their cultural and historic significance could be expanded upon definitely i think but i havent thought too much more into that lmao. the wiki on rpc says that the four kings look like the masks but that sounds more speculative and feels like a stretch. i donā€™t buy that at all, i donā€™t see the resemblance
polokus loves all forms of art, and as a result, a lot of the glade's "religion" boils down to being creative and creating, and a lot of magic in general require some form of art, such as dancing for certain spells (the way teensies open portals in r2 or w/e). the people of the glade create art, sing, dance, to keep polokus inspired, amused, and happy so he doesn't have any more bad dreams. i thought about the nymphs all having a corresponding art form, with, obviously, holly being music and edith being culinary, but im not sure what annetta or helena would be. helena maybe textiles... annetta im not sure what i would do with her since she's the most... withdrawn nymph
polokusā€™ feelings on raymanā€™s existence are complicated since he is the only creature not created by him. he doesnā€™t know what heā€™s capable of, but heā€™s done a lot already in terms of stopping nightmares and foreign threats such as the pirates. heā€™s impressed, intrigued... a bit intimidated maybe..... he respects rayman and does love him (polokus has to love every creature after all)
im not sure if the muse of the poets is considered to be actual canon since it appears she was only mentioned in a license guide and not in any other official media. but she's a popular character and i like her too so she gets mentioned. she and polokus fall in love and she has their children, the teensies. she is disgusted by them and runs away, leaving them and polokus forever. she is disgusted by herself, too. if her children are ugly, she must be ugly as well. she becomes obsessed with making herself beautiful, and having beautiful children. she eventually becomes begoniax, which you know how that turns out...
betilla: polokus' pride and joy, she loves him as a father, but is disappointed with his lack of responsibility. when she was younger she was very mischevious and much like him. she learned magic just to be able to pull pranks perform elaborate pull magic tricks. eventually when the first bad dream happened, it was a wake up call. she tried to get him to do something about jano but he wouldn't respond to her. she took matters into her own hands since she was the most magically capable of anyone she knew. with the help of the other nymphs, they created rayman. she's been the "responsible" one ever since. if you catch her in a good mood she might be a bit playful but her days of frivolity are long gone. likes to knit and crochet when she has the time (which is rarely), and spend time with her sisters.
other nymphs: i dont have quite as many headcanons about them, but they are rayman's aunts obviously. edith is rayman's favourite aunt since she's a good cook, followed by holly, who has taught him everything he knows about music. helena is very enthusiastic and a bit overbearing. annetta is the aunt that never shows up to anything
the nymphs all have an element tied to them. betilla and fee de la mort obviously being life and death. holly is air, edith is fire, anetta is water, and helena is earth. seems pretty obvious this part but i've rarely seen ppl attribute helena with earth despite the fact she lives on a mountain...? (stone men, stone dogs, golly g....)
ly is interested in the magical workings of the world and is especially fascinated with lums and their power. betilla sees her potential as a magic user and has accepted her as her pupil. another reason betilla has taken a liking to ly is that she reminds her of her own youth, since ly is fairly playful as well, using magic for tricks. ly is initially just interested in rayman because of the fact he's a being entirely made out of lums, but it eventually turns into a genuine, and close, friendship.
a lot of fairies and some teensies can make "weak" silver lums to give to rayman, but they might not do much, or the effects are temporary. only ly and the nymphs are able to give rayman powers with "stronger" silver lums.
polokus does not dream of every individual in the glade. he dreamt of the first peoples of each species, then they procreate by themselves. most places in the glade are natural, similar to earth, but polokus' dreams may affect them (the icy parts of gourmand land is an obvious example. giant fruit? that's silly)
teensies: naturally hairless and there is little dimorphism between the sexes. their fashion is inspired by the fairies', and have adopted to wear wigs, false eyelashes, fake facial hair, etc. all teensies have the ability to perform magic but they have to actively for it to be useful. teensies with an interest in magic will attend a magic school. the best of the best of teensie magic users can become a minimus, and, of course, the best out of THEM become the grand minimus. there are many teensie races, and each may vary in size, colour (turquoise like in the ubiarts, more grey like in 2 and 3. usually just varying shades of blue), markings, nose length and shape. some races may be more adept at certain magic styles than others.
mr dark: i have some ideas but nothing concrete. might not even go with this story as my definitive headcanon. fairy. he was always critical of polokus, and after the first bad dream, that made him hate the god even more. he was the one who wanted to stop jano, and maybe become someone powerful enough to be seen as the glade's new "god" or whatever. betilla has proven herself to be the better magic user after the creation of rayman. polokus' main thing was that he was the creator, he was able to create life, and now betilla's able to create life. she may as well be polokus! she's a threat! when he steals the protoon/heart of the world and eventually kidnaps betilla, he uses her power to create dark rayman/raymesis. raymesis is *not* was not created by dark by himself, and he would not have been able to pull off this feat without betilla's knowledge of creating "thingamajigs". rayman and raymesis are the only two thingamajigs known in existence, both created by betilla. not saying it's impossible that others could exist, but they would have to be dreamt into existence by polokus.
dark's obsession with being the most powerful person in the world and becoming a god is why he stole the heart of the world, of course. ales mansay would take inspiration from this event. his views are similar to dark's, that's why he worships him. polokus is a terrible god, he lets people suffer. rayman is a terrible hero, all he does is sleep. ales knows he wouldn't be able to reach the heart of the world and instead tries to build his ā€œownā€ using lums (maybe not exactly but something comparable... the heart of the world is made up of lums after all). i know that's like, duh, canon information, but it was never stated *WHY* he looks up to mr dark. so now you know why. its bc they both hate polokus

not an anti your anti-anti post got popular so i wanted to know why u ship bkdk? i'm genuinely curious bc i;ve only seen ppl say it's abusive and i'm new to mha
first of all anonĀ thank youĀ for approaching me respectfully about this. there are a lot of people i know who arenā€™t as lucky but really, thank you for possessing the basic human decency that so many others on this fucking hellsite canā€™t muster.Ā
now, first of all let me say that iā€™m not aĀ ā€œā€œā€œhardcore shipperā€ā€ā€ or anything of the sort. i just think that bakudeku/katsudeku has a pretty good dynamic with lots of potential, along with a lot of other plausible ships in the series. i donā€™t get into a series for its ships, and even when i ship something i wonā€™t let it take over my experience of fandom, which is why iā€™m def posting less bnha and ship discourse. thisā€™ll probably be my last post about it, ever.
now, about bakudeku.Ā
on bkdk being abusive:
it is not.Ā
i first want to clarify that while bakugou bullied midoriya in the past,Ā that doesnā€™t fucking make it abuse.Ā i know abusers, and i know bullies. bakugou was shitty, and iā€™m not excusing his actions or saying they were okay becauseĀ they were fucking not. most antis get all their fuel with the lineĀ ā€œtake a swan dive from the roofā€ that bakugou says to midoriya in the first chapter.Ā
did he actually mean it? did bakugou, a boy who was told all his life he would be a hero,Ā who wanted to be a hero, say it with the intent of midoriya actually killing himself? no, he didnā€™t. it would go against everything a hero stood for, and being a hero was bakugouā€™s only aspiration in his life. unless anyone is iterating that heā€™s stupid (which canon proves otherwise almostĀ constantly) he knew that when he said it, midoriya wouldnā€™t do it.Ā
(and while it is important to note that horikoshi has explicitly said that he went too far with that line, as it isĀ notĀ how bakugou should be seen and/or characterised, iā€™m still treating it as canon because it is, antis donā€™t @ me.)
and, as midoriya makes very clear later, he has absolutely no intention of taking bakugouā€™s words seriously. instead, he brushes it off asĀ ā€˜kacchan being a proud idiot who doesnā€™t think before he speaksā€™. however, while he did not take those words seriously, that doesnā€™t mean they didnā€™t hurt even a little. his expression when bakugou says it is hurt, but more than that,Ā shocked. obviously, anyone with a brain can infer that it isĀ notĀ something midoriya is accustomed to hearing things like that from bakugou. if it had been a regular occurrence, his reaction would have been a lot more subdued as he would have heard it before and therefore expected it.
Tumblr media
even if you look at the scene later on, bakugou does not go out of his way to target or even interact with midoriya up until their teacher brings up the fact that midoriya wants to go to ua. bakugou does not see midoriya asĀ ā€œhis old friendā€ orĀ ā€œthe kid who he grew up withā€. what he sees isĀ ā€œa quirkless kid who canā€™t do anything is trying to get inĀ hisĀ alley, the one that everyone told him was handcrafted for himā€. is he right? absolutely fucking not. does he realise this? again, no. this all leads to bakugou having aĀ majorĀ gifted kid + inferiority complex, but i digress.
(i feel like itā€™s necessary to say once again thatĀ i am not condoning bakugouā€™s behaviourĀ just because he didnā€™t really intend for midoriya to commit suicide or midoriya didnā€™t take it seriously, or saying that itā€™s okay if nothing happened.)
anyway, back on topic. later during the final exams arc, midoriya also states explicitly that he and bakugouĀ have not talked properly to one another since they were kids. this makes it clear that bakugou did not, in fact,Ā ceaselessly tormentĀ midoriya throughout their elementary school/junior high years. they just didnā€™t interact, plain and simple. the experience shown on the playground when they were four and the one after school on this day were likely two of very few, perhaps ten at most, incidents in which bakugou and midoriyaā€™s difference in power and therefore status was made clear to show what it means to be quirkless in this society.Ā
(iā€™d like to talk about how fuckingĀ messed upĀ this society is, but thatā€™s a whole other can of worms.)
bakugou has been a bully to midoriya. has he been abusive? absolutely fucking not. do i think their relationship is repairable? yes. iā€™ve been bullied before. i know what itā€™s like when youĀ canĀ reconcile with your bully and when youĀ canā€™t. this is very clearly something that can be salvaged.Ā
on their canon relationship:
do i think of bakudeku as aĀ ā€œhe pulled your pigtails because he likes youā€ situation? am i infatuated with the ever-popular childhood friend trope? not a chance, and dismissing any shipperā€™s evaluation of their relationship to that is fuckingĀ low.Ā
letā€™s start with their relationship at the beginning. bakugou harbours obvious animosity towards midoriya, and the only reason appears to be that it was because he was quirkless. (again,Ā fuckĀ quirk society) bakugou had always been told he was superior, and midoriya had always been told that he was nothing without a quirk. when youā€™re a young and impressionableĀ child, having these things said to you a lot will make you believe it. in a sense, itā€™s akin to brainwashing. bakugou was made to believe that midoriya was worthless in comparison to him, a natural-born hero, and midoriya was made to believe that bakugou was amazing and undefeatable.Ā
there were a lot of ways it could have turned out, honestly. midoriya could have become someone bakugou saw as someone needing protecting, and as cliched as their relationship would have been were that the case, it would have been the onlyĀ ā€œā€œfunctionalā€ā€ one they could have had. hence the dysfunction, because midoriya is not someone who can sit back and take hits. he wants to be a hero, which is half the reason he admired bakugou in the first place.Ā
so in the beginning of canon when midoriyaā€™s desire to go to ua to be a hero is made known, bakugou, as i said before, feels as though his space has been invaded. heā€™s marked his territory, and all of a suddenĀ this quirkless nobody i used to know wants to take it from me. of course, his way of thinking is wrong, but heā€™s never been corrected properly (sorry mitsuki, i love you but youā€™re not good at parenting, and masaru, pleaseĀ doĀ something about your emotionally constipated son).Ā
Tumblr media
bakugouā€™s reaction to midoriya saying heĀ ā€œjust wants to tryā€ makes it look like it was just a trivial matter for midoriya, as opposed to bakugou, who has been working towards wanting to become a hero since he was small (as opposed to midoriya who wanted to as well, yes, but never did anything being analysing the heroes for fun). he feels as though midoriya is going through it with aĀ ā€˜mehā€™ attitude, which deeply offended by the sentiment and takes it personally.Ā
so bakugou obviously hates it. he hates feeling like someone that was, in his words,Ā ā€œa pebble in [his] pathā€ could possibly even fathom overtaking him, when they were compared all the time.Ā
additionally, midoriya has been a part of bakugouā€™s ego fodder. he followed him around, praised him like the rest, yes, but itā€™s very important to note that even though midoriya showered bakugou with praise he still talked to him as though he would someday be on that same level, even as a kid.Ā
they were kids. they were dumb. but youĀ  know what? they grew.Ā
bakugou especially has gone through so much development, even comparing him to the piece of shit he was in chapter 1 is a hugeĀ insult to bakugou, to horikoshi, and to midoriya, who has played an enormous part in it, especially after the sludge villain when it is very explicitly stated that bakugou didnā€™t even interact with midoriya untilĀ
in the beginning of their first year at ua, bakugou learned for the first time what it meant to have people who were equal to him, that he wasnā€™t as exceptional as he thought. midoriya, too learned what it meant to stand as equals, but instead of falling from a platform above, he was thrown up from the ground. and during the battle trial, bakugou tasted bitter defeat for the first time, and it shook him to the point where he had a panic attackĀ in class (which iā€™m disappointed all might didnā€™t notice, but i digress) upon seeing midoriya get k.o.-ed but still winĀ while he was left unscathed physically, and lostĀ to deku of all people.Ā
do i think their dynamic from the beginning of the year would have worked as a ship? no, abso-fucking-lutely not. bakugou feels nothing but betrayal (as in, he would obviously believe midoriya was hiding his quirkĀ from him and lying to him their whole lives) and hatred for midoriya up until the battle trial, after which he doesnā€™t respect or even acceptĀ midoriya, but he acknowledgesĀ him because he beat him and then admitted half the secret to his quirk.Ā
their relationship is an absolute shitshow for a longĀ time and it shows, but the battle trial was a hugeĀ part in the beginning of their relationship developing. and of course, it has to ā€“ midoriya is the protagonist and bakugou is the deuteragonist, after all.Ā
but theĀ realĀ turning point where bakugou comes to grudgingly accept midoriya is during their final exams before the training camp, where they went up against all might. being forced to work together and for bakugou toĀ haveĀ to listen to midoriya really showed us depth in him we hadnā€™t seen before. sadly, all might was absolutely no help in their teamwork (despite that being the entire reason aizawa had paired bakugou and midoriya together) and instead made them try to focus on defeatingĀ himĀ rather than working together, butĀ somehow, that got the two of them to cooperate in battle.Ā
(personally, i believe that they would have been better matched against a more strategic teacher like aizawa or nedzu as they would be forced to come up with a strategy together, and all might provided an unrealistic situation for them overall and the entire fight makes absolutely little to no use of their intelligence, something that isĀ canonicallyĀ a prevalent strength for both of them.)
but honestly, afterĀ kacchan vs deku 2, where they finally becomeĀ ā€œā€œproper rivalsā€ā€ according to all might, where they both finally,Ā finallyĀ talk out their issues and try to patch their shit up. @dekatsuā€‹ explains it really well hereĀ and iā€™ve rambled for long enough about it.
now, after that fight, theyā€™re both at a point where instead of being at each otherā€™s throats, theyā€™re pushing each other forward, and thatā€™s why i like them together so much, whether platonic or romantic. which brings me to...
what i like about bkdk
aka, the thing you asked me in the first place.Ā
do i approve of their relationship before kacchan vs deku 2? no. but after the fight, it blossoms into something absolutely brilliant. while theyā€™re on their house arrest in the days after their fight, midoriya asks bakugou about his shoot style, and bakugou tells him exactly what he thinks and how it can be improved. and he admits, however backwardly, that he approved of it.Ā
from literally that moment on, their communication and relationship develops so so much (not getting into the later arcs because manga spoilers) and bakugou becomes a huge part of theĀ ā€œone for allā€ secret, and every. single. time he sees midoriya use it, he encourages him in his competitive way and he does want to make sure he sees deku become a great hero, dammit.
relationships where both parties push each other to do better always seem to be the ones that work best. bakugou is constantly striving now not justĀ to better himself, but heā€™s making sure that midoriya is getting better too. the more the story progresses, the closer they grow.Ā
weā€™re at a point where bakugou sits in on midoriyaā€™s meetings with all might about one for all and its technicalities and history, and is willing to train separately with midoriya because of it. they donā€™t have any problems with each other now -- even all might has properly acknowledged bakugou and midoriya as great friends.Ā
itā€™s indisputable.Ā
and whether you ship it or not, now if you deny that they have a bond thatā€™s strong as fuck, youā€™re only making yourself look silly.Ā
platonic or romantic, these two have chemistry and they complement each other so well that it almost hurts. i canā€™t wait to see them grow into a hero duo.Ā
. . .
anyway, thatā€™s the end of my 2k+ word long meta (which i honestly wouldnā€™t have been able to complete without the help of a tumblr friend who would like to stay anonymous) and i hope it answers your question and hopefully, it showed you a side of things that not only the antis are seeing. thanx, this is been my last ship discourse post.
