Lookin' at Askr's injured art and realizing it's basically just him with holes in his spandex........ thank you FEH for this one thing...
(also I normally draw Hrid and his attempts at adopting siblings so happy holidays to Hrid, he gets to be thirsty as a treat.)

Okay so realistically speaking, giving birth is an excruciating, painful nightmare, and from the few Crocodad fics I've seen most people seem to prefer to write realistic pregnancy and make Luffy's birth a (physically) painful thing. Because it makes sense, it might be more relatable for some writers that way etc, and that's perfectly fine (like genuinely, it's not an issue at all, this is not a critique or a complaint)
God I don't know how to make this segue- Have any of you watched Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story)? It's a great early 2010s romantic comedy series, funny as hell, super cute and sweet, would reccomend, but that aside. During the series the protagonist Takeo's mother gets pregnant and she ends up giving birth to Takeo's baby sister. And it's that scene, where Takeo's baby sister is born, that I keep on thinking back to whenever I wonder how Luffy's birth might've gone.
Takeo and his mother alike are Sturdy Motherfuckers. Like absolute gigachads, borderline superhuman, it's great and it's funny as hell. And because of that near superhuman nature... Takeo's mother goes to give birth at 4:15 pm. And she has finished giving birth at 4:16 pm. One fucking minute is what it took for this woman to bring a child into this world. An absolute legend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The screencaps do not do justice to how fucking funny this is in the actual episode
And so like
Like we know Crocodile's been through absolute hell, being an amputee and all. And as Domino told us at the entrance of Impel Down, we also know the man did not even flinch when forced into Impel Down's traditional 200 Celsius cleansing bath (or 392F)
So Crocodile has better pain tolerance than the average person. Like, you might have to put in a bit of effort to cause him actually hurt. So if giving birth to Luffy was an absolute cakewalk for Crocodile, not only would it make perfect sense in-universe and be completely in-character for him, but also
It would be objectively funny as hell

i guess i have to say it a million times since people insist on being dense: gale is just as much of a victim as the other companions. this isn't the trauma olympics. everyone has been through shit and deserves healing and redemption.
gale is not the self entitled, manipulative abuser people are painting him as. he's a lot of things, but nothing so heinous. he was groomed by a goddess who has a history of preying on wizards that threaten her power, and as a result, gale's ambition and faith was what drove him to discover the netherese orb. what he did was for mystra - in his mind, it was to prove his love by restoring her missing power - and by extension for the betterment of mortals. his actions were never malicious or selfish, in fact he puts himself so low on the priority list it's pretty much non existent. he was never going to use that power to usurp her, but mystra definitely saw it like that, which is why she didn't hesitate to present suicide as his only solution. he never crossed her personal boundaries in the way people are twisting it, he only wanted to cross the boundaries she put on wizards and their power.
people who insist he's all of these things and more clearly only spoke to him once or lack the reading comprehension to see past how much of an unreliable narrator he is. i can understand first impressions might put some people off, but you can say the same about the other companion introductions. i don't like comparing but since people insist on doing it; gale is one of the easiest companions to get along with just by being a good person, yet his honesty and selflessness makes people think he's secretly evil? while the companions with the capacity to be evil don't even try to hide it? how are people being so backwards about this? it's genuinely baffling and tiring to see people continuously spit out incorrect takes all too confidently.
no one is forcing anyone to like him, but it's unfair to completely mischaracterize him because you refuse to learn critical thinking. i promise using your brain is not as scary as it seems, or you can just. not talk about things you don't understand.

Zutaras are really the original self-insert, "we understand the story soooooo much better than everybody else" girlies and they just never moved on
#anti zutara#no offense to anyone who ships it and follows me but I'm so over the shipping wars of this show that aired almost 20 years ago 😭#at some point you guys are gonna need to hang it up cause there's a sequel series and these people are married with children like...#we get it if you were Katara you would've chosen Zuko but guess what?! you aren't and need to stop projecting onto her#the pretending to care about Katara is what really gets me cause she's never even implied to have romantic feelings for him#or vice-versa + it ignores her anger towards him and how long it took her to forgive him + rightfully so#criticizing the writing for Kataang is one thing but turning around and shipping Zutara while doing so is crazy work#ship it if you want but please stop pretending it makes more sense when both Zuko and Katara have their own separate romances 😭#love how people have to age Aang down + infantilize him and erase Mai to make it work but sure it's the better option#stop erasing Katara's arc and development just to claim that Aang brings her down when she's been a bad-ass since season 1#reducing her arc to that ONE moment with Zuko and ignoring all of her other development just to prop up a ship is nasty#Katara isn't a reward for Aang and she sure as hell isn't one for Zuko stop belittling her like that#if y'all didn't watch ATLA when you were 12 and think Zuko was cute this ship wouldn't even exist#thinking about that post that said the writers /pandered to dudebros/ like we all weren't children the delusion is crazy sdfssdfsdfsd#also seeing AANG of all characters getting whacked for a ship...please get a life and stay away from him#antizutara

I think if we are to do marginalized communities good, it'll help to remember that often, marginalized people who seem to be "forgotten about" in the mind of bigots aren't being treated well by them either - so many marginalized people are forcibly erased and made invisible. That is not a neutral action; it is a form of violence. Not all violence will present itself in the extreme of facing physical violence. The core of any violence against marginalized peoples will often come from a similar level of hatred for them. That's why it's so important to combat all violence, even the forms of violence you don't perceive "as harmful" as other forms.

it’s a little frustrating sometimes to watch people try to “debunk” gay mike evidence by quibbling over things that are. kind of beside the point? like arguing that mike’s consistently negative (or even neutral, if you want the benefit of the doubt) reactions to girls aren’t “disgust” therefore they don’t mean anything. but like 1. yeah i agree, cates gate isn’t about mike being “disgusted.” mike’s face when el kisses him isn’t “disgusted.” mike’s reaction to el, to max, to girls in general doesn’t really read to me as “disgust” either. so 2. what DOES it read to you as? incredulity? confusion? discomfort? those…. still aren’t positive reactions.
the point is that mike actively and blatantly Does Not react positively toward el kissing him. and he also Doesn’t react positively to dustin’s description of a girl being “hotter than phoebe cates.” he asks “is she cute?” with maybe preemptive incredulity (in line with will's question "girls go to science camp?") over a girl who goes to science camp being cute, or perhaps just a neutrally curious state over dustin's new girlfriend, but then dustin doesn’t say “she’s hotter than phoebe cates.” he says, “think phoebe cates. only hotter.” that’s a prescriptive statement. you want to know if she’s cute, mike? think about phoebe cates, and then imagine someone hotter than that. and mike’s expression doesn’t improve in the slightest. think about someone hotter than phoebe cates, dustin tells mike. and mike? remains confused and entirely unintrigued. no, he’s not disgusted, but the point is not his negative reaction, it’s a complete lack of any sort of positive reaction. if he’s listening to dustin, he should have, in that moment, thought of phoebe cates. and his reaction?
Tumblr media
nothing.
(but. this is also just to say... i don’t even think it's fair to call most of mike’s facial reactions “proof” of his sexuality in any argument… i think they’re fun little easter eggs that add an extra visual element to his gay characterization. but. it’s not WHY people think he’s gay. it's funny to point out BECAUSE he's gay)
[edit: AND this is not even to mention the direct line drawn to this in season four via stobin's discussion of fast times, linking phoebe cates to 'people who like boobies.' #notmikewheeler]

One of the several things that are very frustrating about how the Maud storyline played out this season is that, from Maud's perspective, the con she plays makes little sense; Oscar isn't an important enough or wealthy enough target for this to be her last great con before she disappears off into the ether, but without that motivation she fact that she burns the bridge behind her by disappearing means that she won't be able to play New York society again.
Perhaps her plan is to play multiple cities, far enough apart (in distance as well as the timing of the cons) that word hopefully won't spread; perhaps there was a reason she wanted to cash out as it were as soon as possible and latched on to Oscar because he happened to be nearby and wealthy enough. But we get no indication of her motivations, and that is what is so irritating and unfulfilling about this plotline; there is no attention paid to her as a character, rather than a hollow mover of plot, at all.
And this, in turn, makes that whole plot feel rudderless and absurd. The necessity of it is indisputable; it has to happen to precipitate the Ada-Agnes role-reversal at the end of the season, and so I'm not saying Oscar shouldn't have lost the money or even that Maud shouldn't have taken it (though there were plenty of more interesting and historically informed ways that plot could've played out). But the fact of creating a character, especially a female character, who is so transparently a plot device rather than a person the writers spent any time thinking about, is deeply frustrating--especially on this show, which otherwise so reliably treats its female characters like human beings.

If I may ask do you feel Gaz being warmer to Dib in Florpus was natural development or too ooc? It felt kind of jarring to me at first glance.
It's funny, I actually have a Very Long Post buried very deep in my Drafts that takes a very deep look at the Membrane Sibling Dynamic and their interactions - focusing on the actual main show itself, but also keeping the existence of ETF in mind. And while I am not just gonna dump it here (it still needs to be polished a bit), my main conclusions are
There were a few Shifts in the way Gaz and her relationship with Dib was written within the show itself.
Her behavior in 'Enter the Florpus' is actually perfectly in line with most of her actions in the show. Especially when you consider ETF was really a perfect storm of Special Circumstances we haven't really put Gaz in the actual show - a situation where she has to see Zim as a genuine threat, where she is genuinely as emotionally invested as Dib is in the Stakes, a situation where she has to see her brother be Actually Emotionally Vulnerable and admitting his own faults to her face.
And even the few episodes where it doesn't work quite as smoothly is more like... the general Shifts in characterizations when we're dealing with serial media written by a collective of people. Like I mentioned above.
And especially when you consider my personal reading of Gaz's character as just... a very messed-up kid who has a lot of Genuine Frustrations she is channeling out in some really Bad Ways. It's not an Absolute Objective Fact but her Big Emotional Moment in ETF to me reads less as her explaining to Dib something she always knew she felt and more like her figuring out herself that she has limits to how much she wants to watch Dib suffer.
Tumblr media
Really the thing that bothers me more in terms of OOC-ness in ETF is not Gaz, but Professor Membrane -

it's not my story to tell, so i won't be writing it, but i sincerely hope to see an interactive fiction someday where the protagonist is a felon. specifically, i'd like the protag to be someone who has served their full sentence and just gotten out.
there is so little respect and empathy for that perspective, so i just would love a well-written IF about it
#maybe there is one and i'm unaware?#if#just thoughts#writing#was just thinking about the stigma that ppl who kill during psychotic episodes face once they are approved for release#and ofc the skepticism and wariness of the general public makes sense esp of whichever community was actually affected by the crime#but like#what do we believe y'all#wtf do we believe#is psychotherapy real or should ppl be locked up forever for doing something while literally out of their sane mind#do we believe in reform or do we keep everyone locked up bc it's more comfortable to treat people like refuse#do we believe in live and let live or do we want ppl to never live on if we personally deem them undeserving of peace or life#is psychosis a real thing or are we all pretending to understand and empathize with mental illness#fr fr#i just really hate how ppl are so comfy reacting in certain ways to that specific sort of perpetrator idk lol#gut reactions are one thing and using our brains and what we objectively know about psychology in combo with that is another#and when it comes to criminals ppl are very happy to abandon the latter and fully embrace the former#but claim to still be good decent people like...............#do you truly believe crimes committed during a psychotic break should be weighed the same as ones not?#cause if you do like... fuck you???#and if you think they shouldn't.... then we *must* apply that logic to how we treat and perceive ppl cleared as not a danger#there's no perfect system anywhere but i hate how individuals are so quick and willing to disappear people we view as problems#the constant war on the unhoused is a good example too#mh#at capacity#the great sham#abolish prison anyway yknow

It is very disappointing to be connected to Australians on this website only to quickly discover they are terfs.
#terfs are so close to discovering that abolishing the gender binary is actually a good thing#this one i just blocked came up with the idea that in a future where there was no gender there would only be sex#and went on to 'support' their argument by saying there would be no pronouns only people with penis or vagina#like how do they not understand those are still pronouns lmao#terfs are so caught up with hating trans women and despairing over trans men that they have forgotten what a pronoun actually is#like this person didn't realise they were creating a binary again based on this fictional idea that there are only ppl with penis or vagina#that there is no inbetween or ability to change whether naturally or socially#and it's so funny because they'll think the binary sex is normalised by nature when it's not!!!!#God#insert that meme where it's a guy on a fashion show criticising someone calling s colour a fancy name#'in a world post gender there wd be no need for nb or trans p bc it wouldn't make sense there would only be two sexes'#shut up. you mean you want to trade one binary for another#you want to revert back to when we didn't fully understand the expansive breadth of being#and pretend that there are no intersex people or even a social contract#terfs are so blind imagine living in a world so restrictive#like abolishing any social binary in a way that recognises multitudes of being is the outcome that will benefit society#not abolishing the gender binary only to fall back on the sex binary#it's the same thing!!! it's the same thing!!!

I Had a Realization About Ch.101 and No One's Talking About It
I had assumed that Dazai has the option to stop the flooding procedure in the Control Room but now that I think about it that is most likely not the case.
Dazai presents to Sigma a sequence of events that differs from what might actually be happening, timeline-wise. Dazai reveals information to Sigma in a way that makes us think every new step in Ch.101 that he reveals is a re-concieved way to defeat the new two-vs-two teamup of Dostoyevsky and Chuuya. But if you look at the events as they are happening in real time, that does not make any sense.
What's actually happening, in sequence:
Sometime before Sigma sees the Control Room, Dazai's cat lady stops time so Dazai can kill all the guards and set up his trap to kill Dostoyevsky.
Tumblr media
We don't know exactly when this happens. It could have been before Gogol even showed up. It could have been when Gogol was explaning the rules. All we know is, it had to have been before Fyodor falls for the trap. So lets set it aside for now.
Other than that, what happens?
CH.98, after Dazai picks Sigma. Dazai dances around with Sigma some, seemingly wasting time.
Tumblr media
Then this happens?
Tumblr media
And Dazai abruptly switches to heading directly toward the Control Room. Which is interesting, because Sigma doesn't notice anything. This is most likely when the cat lady stopped time and Dazai was able to set up his trap. Because now that everything's in play, he can see it laid out for him with Sigma.
It's right after that we get the first signs of an intruder.
Tumblr media
Dazai most likely knew Fyodor was going to pick a pawn to help him escape. What he didn't know, I'm sure, was that it was Chuuya.
Tumblr media
Not only cause Dazai's entire demeanor changes when he realizes this, but because Dazai only says "I see" when a genuine realization comes to him, often times too late.
After this, Dazai sets up the "two vs. two" battle strategy for Sigma. Except here's the thing. That doesn't make sense if the trap is already in play. There is no battle! It's already decided!
Tumblr media
This panel happens after the locking mechanism on Fyodor's side breaks, meaning that Dazai is stating this when his plan is already in motion. Dazai is explaining how they're going to beat Chuuya and Dostoyevsky as if he hadn't already set up the trap, so that Sigma thinks all of this is happening in real time.
Tumblr media
Here's the important part Dazai mentions: Once closed, the walls will never open again and there's no way to stop the flooding. The walls will never open again implies that it's impossible for anyone to open them, including the people at the control terminal. "No way to stop the flooding" is also very specific. Dazai doesn't say that it's impossible for Dostoyevsky to stop the flooding, but impossible in general. (Interesting also how Fyodor says that Dazai got the circuit already as if he predicted the locking mechanism would blow up, just not this soon).
Tumblr media
After his little explanation to Sigma, Dazai doesn't seem to do much except turn on the mic to the flooded room.
Dazai presents the facts to Sigma as if every action he took in the past he is taking due to the circumstances of the two-vs-two, but that's not the case, because Dazai has set up the trap in advance, most likely before he even knew Chuuya was the pawn. And it is a trap he himself cannot stop once it's triggered. Meaning that, unless a new factor comes into play, Dazai literally cannot do anything at this point except watch Chuuya drown. Dazai created the perfect plan, one that he himself cannot reverse. It's not about Dazai letting Chuuya die, it's about if he can stop his own plan in the first place.
