Part 1/2 (next one not coming before June, sadly. Exams and all that)

UPD: i dunno if it's happening, maybe one day...

This took me ages to draw in-between classes and small mental breakdowns. Hope you're liking it though 🤠 Not finishing part 2 before exams-

Solarpunk lore for fellow nerds:

The first scene takes place inside an abandoned prison which has been reclaimed by mostly youth who like to hang out there and do whatever they feel like. They still stay aware about what happened there before and choose to be free to "heal the site". Quite a few other prisons have been made into museums to showcase the brutality of the past.

(Halfway through drawing the second slide I realized spray paint isn't really...environmentally friendly, so let's just say that those murals and graffiti were drawn in the heat of the moment lol)

The rest of the scenes take part in a "dorm" for young people (not tied to any educational facility). Those who have shown themselves to be decently independent and want to move away from their extended family can go and live at one of these!

There they can meet other young peeps and do whatever they feel like: art projects, gardening, self-education, sports, crafts etc. When they feel like they've outgrown the place, they can also choose to move.

Some rooms here are connected (like the one Percy and Andrea, the first two characters, live in) and others aren't. Everyone has a nice little balcony. They also each have a small fridge and kitchen area in their apartments, but big meals happen in the two community kitchen (you can notice them on the left on the 9th slide).

The scene in the laundromat shows Percy casually using a graywater system to recycle laundry water. It goes through a quick filtering process before getting sprayed on the plants to avoid bad long-term effects.

The 'Hobie can't realistically be a 17 year old boy,he looks and acts nothing like one!!!' argument always pissed me off and i thought it was completely baseless but a couple of people i know in the fandom who're actual teens agreed with it and then i got confused because Hobie acts pretty much like i did as a black punk teen and my brother's got the freakishly tall and lanky stickbug build he does and he ALSO does underaged drinking and dangerous stunts and even has authority problems like i did so i was wondering what in the goddamn hell it all put together meant until it hit me like Hobie's guitar:He's ALSO a freak ass teenage boy like i was.Well alright then,i now know where Scooby Doo is

This comic is all over the place bc it took me a week to finish 😭🤙 But I'm still fu¢king proud of it 👁️👁️

The green one's Jess, as you might notice, and Brook is the one in all brown

A little bit of Solarpunk infodumping for the curious:

Jess is a librarian overseeing the book part of the library, though there are many things other than books you can find there. As this position is popular, they always have at least one person who can come substitute them if need be 💅 i suspect the library also works at night, run by and for night owls.

While Brook is a district manager, they don't tell people what to do, but just organize all necessary info from people living in the area. Every couple of years (or in case of a serious accident) a new manager gets selected through a district vote

In the case of this stargazing event, they'd spend some time notifying people about it and (when a majority agreed on having a stargazing night) they'd make sure all electricians turn off the street lights.

The district probably has a limit on how many stargazing nights can take place a month, and they notify nearby districts so that people who have plans in the blackout area can change plans accordingly. Hospitals etc. keep the power on, naturally 🤙
