So a while ago I commissioned @thefruitloop-chan to make a Solarpunk poster for anyone to use! And this beautiful piece was made!
Tumblr media
This is a blank for people to put text on, and here’s the two text ones that I put over
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyone can print them and put them up and around town! Especially since it’s Solarpunk Action Week! Thank you again Squid for making this beautiful artwork! Let’s make a better future together!

Characters co-owned w @_magic.stardust_ on IG 😌✨ (a couple more comics abt this on my account already)
I'm not a very positive person, i have a LOT of doomer tendencies. I feel everything like it's cranked up to the max, and as you can imagine it doesn't feel great. Every day throws more atrocious things in my face, and i can't ignore it 🥲
I see other people feeling the same way. We dissociate and numb ourselves by watching, playing, buying stuff. Hateful movements are gaining traction and climate change has its foot in the door
And it's all happening either way, to some degree. I feel like shit, and i'm sick of that. I might as well have a little bit of hope, otherwise i'll go bonkers 😭 Do we continue doomering our way through life or ignoring things altogether, or do we choose to hope a little?
That's why i'm looking into Solarpunk and am thinking of taking any readers (and myself) on a little journey through a better world, and how it might work, through a series of mini-comics I'm posting here. I don't have all the answers (no one person ever does), and i don't hold any pretenses that this kind of world is going to be our future. But i often hear "You love critiquing the status quo, but what do you propose instead?" I'd like to find out too. Here's to something we can hope for, no matter how slim the chances are! Because as I said, i might just lose my mind otherwise ☠️
P.S for new peeps: this is an AU with me and my friend's OCs, so all characters are genderless and go by they/them. It's not identical to our world in that regard, but other than this fact we try to keep it more or less realistic 🤙
Tumblr media
I spent a thousand krillion hours on this and the other Solarpunk comics, consider throwing 2$ at me on Buy Me A Coffee to raise my spirits :] I'm not doing well mentally these days, but people's appreciation helps a lot. Thank you very much!

I like solarpunk as a theme or concept, but most solarpunk art doesn't quite work for me. For the most part, you've got Manhattan, But With Lots Of Trees or Happy Cottagecore With Robots.
What's missing, for me, is a sense of connection with where we are now. Both of the standard solarpunk visions present a world that has already been completely transformed. There's no hint of what it took to get from now to then, no evidence of what people had to overcome, to sacrifice, to pull humanity out of its ecological nose-dive.
I'd love to see a solarpunk city depicted in the process of being rebuilt. Show me old buildings being torn down, and new ones being built from the salvaged materials. Show me a tower with hanging gardens and wind turbines that's clearly a modified, pre-existing structure. Show me a lovely green zone that's still expanding into a reclaimed industrial park.
Maybe it's just me, but depictions of good futures fell like pure, unattainable fantasy without a connection to the present. For me, hope comes with imagining the path that gets us there.

Flower rings!!!!!
These were made by my mom, who does wire art and she made a fuck ton. So I have some and I twisted the stems into different sized rings! There are tutorials out there on how to make them if you want to do these yourself, it involves making wire frames that you then dip in glue and paint with nail polish once they dry
Sorry for the bad lighting but it's the best I could do for now lol

Solarpunk Colossus.
Tumblr media
When the ancient ones awaken to help out humanity with their climate problem.
This was a piece I've been wanting to do for ages and @stimpunks helped me make this a reality! So thank you so much for this commission! All of my neurospicy friends should definitely check out Stimpunks and give them a follow!
I just wanted an excuse to blend Solarpunk with fantasy art really.
The idea is that an environmental research facility was unwittingly built upon the back of a sleeping earth colossus due to the unique flora and fauna of the area, only for the colossus to suddenly awaken. The behemoth made an agreement with the scientists that they may stay on its back, but only on the condition that they treat the isolated ecosystem with respect and that their research will help heal nature and bring about a world where humans and nature live in harmony again.
The research facility itself is constructed from entirely sustainable materials and is a blend of iron-age and modern architecture. The scientists must stick to strict limestone paths so not to erode any of the earthy areas. Some locations cannot be accessed by foot and are therefore drone-only. The entire facility is powered by those airborne turbines (I probably added more than there needed to be but they look pretty haha).
Here's some concept art for the colossus. I made him a lot less grumpy in the final piece. He has six legs on account of him being extremely front-heavy and he has little tiptoeing ungulate feet. I also worked a lot of fossil motifs into his design, plus I imagine the wooden structures that make his antlers are so ancient that they have started to petrify. I want this creature to feel truly ancient. His face is also inspired by "the green man" a little bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scientists have nicknamed this colossus "The Wean" (Wee one) on account of him living off the coast of Scotland.
Oh and before anyone asks... yes, this was at least a little bit inspired by "Shadow of the Colossus." I'm not going to hide my influences ^^'
If you want to see more Solarpunk or fantasy art from me, please consider donating a Ko-Fi! Even a small amount really helps, especially with how difficult things are for artists right now.

Jocelyn Lena's mindscape is the first of many Penny and Junebug will traverse in Mind or Matter. An idyllic solarpunk world of bright sun and institutes of learning, something darker lurks beneath the surface, which the duo will uncover together!
This is concept art for my currently in pre-production webcomic Mind Or Matter! If you are interested in seeing more, please give the blog a follow to keep up to date on progress!

I'd like to present to you a solarpunk flag!
Tumblr media
This flag was designed and drawn by @himokors
It has very blury meaning but it goes like that:
The center symbolizes both the sun (the purest energy) and the sunflower 🌻 - a magnificent plant with numerous uses, and once again, as a symbol of the sun and prosperity.
The multitude of white dots represents the Dyson swarm, symbolizing the method of harvesting solar energy and a decentralized system of management, where individual people are united in an alliance working for the common good and moving together towards a noble idea.
The three dots at the top represent RRR - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (and other meanings if they can be imagined). Individual elements only make sense when viewed in the context of the entire flag.
This flag is free to use for everyone who likes it!
