A Forest Tarot Reading

Hello! It is very humid where I am today so I didn't stay in the forest long. Just long enough to find a stump that had high energy levels and do a tarot reading on it. I was using my tarot deck that has not been wrong yet (it is also the one I have had the longest and the only one I have used), more stories about that could follow this post.

So I went out to the forest, the maple grove to be more precise, and searched for a nice spot that had a high amount of spiritual energy attached to it. I found my answer in a stump that had some mushrooms decomposing around it. I am absolutely fascinated by mushrooms, and I study plants and fungi for school so I figured this was a good spot. I began my question: "Dear Gods, Dieties and Spirits of the forest, What do you want me to know?". I then drew three cards.

The first was the three of coins/pentacles, upside down. Normally this card represents to me hard work, so I took it to mean that I should take more time to myself in life instead of working nonstop like I do. It also represents taking pride in my work, something that I used to do, so it reversed may have meant that I should be taking more pride in my work instead of just getting it done.

The second card was the Justice card, facing upwards. I took this to mean to stay on the path of righteousness and goodness and to help others. Though the book that my cards came with (that I never really look at but I was curious) said I will recieve reward or punishment based on my past actions. A little cryptic and anxiety inducing but O.K..

The final card was the lovers, upright. I took this at the moment to mean to love unconditionally, as that seems like the message that would come through. My book says to take it as "make good and balanced choices" which is also a good meaning to glean from it. Maybe it also means to be honest and open and to create good relationships.

After this reading was over I shuffled my cards again. I was curious. I asked "Dear Gods, Dieties and Spirits of the forest, am I doing the right thing with [my partner]?". Before I could finish a card flipped while I was shuffling. This I usually take this to be an immediate answer from the Spirits. It was the four of wands. I have no idea if it was upright or not, since I was shuffling. So it either means to celebrate or be critical of it. There is a loving family on the card so that may be a good sign?

Warhammer 40k & Age of Sigmar – Trans Pride series !

My other big pride project, with the pride marine series ! The goal here is to paint one representative for each of the Warhammer40k and Age of Sigmar universes faction using the Trans Pride flag color scheme.

I’ve already done 11 factions (12 to be exact, the Ork I finished lately isn’t on the group picture yet).

Project Origins

For those who are wondering why I started this project, it’s pretty simple.

Everything started with a single model (obviously), the Horrmagaunt. I was trying to find an interesting gift idea for a close friend and, remembering that friend love the Tyrannids, I thought of painting them a little bugger. Since I wanted that gift to be even more personal, I decided to use colors that would be really meaningful to them, the trans pride flag colors. It was a first, since, up until that moment, I almost exclusively painted classic schemes (imperial Fists, blood angels, salamanders, etc...).

Here was the result :

As you can see, my goal when translating flag colors on a mini isn’t to reproduce the flag 1 for 1, but to evoke it as naturally and logically as possible.

To be perfectly honest, when I started that little gift, I wasn’t entirely convinced the result would be all that great. After all, it was first and foremost more about the meaning behind the colors than anything else. But oooooooh boy was I wrong because, as the kids says, « that shit slaps yo » or something. I don’t know, I’m not a kid anymore !!

But one thing was certain, I fell in love with that scheme and couldn’t wait painting it again.

So, that’s what I did, that time with a Space Marine seeing those are my personal favorites. And once again, I was really pleased with the end result :

You can easily guess what’s next. I simply had to try that scheme on basically everything, so I started the project of doing it on every faction !

Hell, I had so much fun painting such an unusual scheme, and having to find ways to integrate it logically on a mini, that it's the reason I started another project in parallel, the pride marine one, to try and see if the other pride flag schemes would work as well as the trans pride flag (guess what : not a single one of the scheme I tried disappointed me, even if I have favorites).

Anyway, if you want to try that scheme on your minis and need some inspiration / guidance, here is the recipe I use for the 3 main colors of the flag. Have fun !

Her mind glazes over, as do her eyes. The Spiritseer speaks not of playful memories of childhood tresspasses, but of her sudden, drastic disappearance and his troubled flight to find her. Like a fawn before danger, she freezes.

"You-..." Her expression flickers. There is a teasing of a smile at her lips. He must be joking, she thinks as her gaze and shoulders soften, and her breath catches on the beginnings of a laugh...

But, Eldrin had never teased like this before...

She knew him to be gentle. Though battered and torn by centuries of war, the Eldrin she knew still took the time to hum softly at the beauty of the world and indulge in the warmth of his tea. He was not a cruel jester.

And what a cruel jest this would be. One-hundred and eight years?

"I left you alone for one hundred eight years?" She asks softly, her smile quickly folding into sorrow. "I'm...I'm so sorry." She looks downwards at the polished floors. Her mind kicks and bucks against his story, yet she laments the possibility of causing the Spiritseer distress... and that she had not truly returned home

The tea begins to simmer.

"I...I thought I had been here this morning, but now that I think on it," she gasps quietly as a wave of cold realization crashes over her, "I don't remember making the spare bed."

She rubs her temples, which were often a pressure point of her migraine attacks, though he did not suffer one now. "I had a dream that I was...I was reunited with my friends. Even the ones I thought lost in the storm that had originally brought me here." She blushes and brushes her fingertips against her cheeks at the (False?) memories of those warmest of heartfelt reunions. Slowly, her attention returns to him. "I remember coming to a city near a forest...and rivers for streets. The Moon That Never Sets was large in the sky. It was so beautiful, sir," she continues, her voice cracking as she threatens to cry - overwhelmed by everything. Quickly, she tries to hide and wipe her eyes. "I...I got dizzy...I woke up here...or I thought I did. I'm sorry. One hundred eight years..."

“I really can’t understand why my father and brothers resort to war to claim your arcane knowledge. Or why they steal it,” the sorcerer raised a cup of recaf to his lips and took a long sip. “Surely there is some you are willing to sell, or trade for?”

"We do not trade or sell our knowledge because people like your father and brothers try so hard to steal it, Sorcerer." Eldrin answered with an inwardly supressed sigh.

"Knowledge of any kind can be dangerous in the wrong hands, as you are no doubt aware. The knowledge we possess could cause misery and bloodshed on a scale undreamable. I do not think your species knowing how a Distortion Cannon works or the intricacies of a Hemlock Wraithfighters Mindshock Pod would better the universe at large, do you?" The Spiritseer recoiled at the smell of the recaf, thinking it to have the taste, scent and texture of hot water and fermented guano hastily ground together.

"Tell me, good Sorcerer, what knowledge of ours would you suggest we trade? And what paltry offering would you make in return for such arcane and architectural advancements?"

June 18th Paranormal Investigation

Hello! As I have said in a previous post I work at my local museum, which is ranked in the top 5 most haunted places in my area. We ran a fun public paranormal invesigation this last weekend with professional paranormal investigators that have all investigated this museum before. Here are some cool things that happened!

One device that responded a lot was a lantern that was sensitive to touch and vibrations (I think?) and the more intensely it was touched the more it would light up. Well that lantern went with one particular investigator who is really in tune with energies. In various rooms she got intelligent responses with that lantern, including when talking to a newly donated doll that came in a glass case. We spoke with the doll for hours.

Speaking of this doll, one investigator did the spirit box next to the doll and we got some very disturbing responses. The investigator doing that actually began crying. Also there were multiple cold spots recorded near the doll.

We got video of the entire museum all night as well, with something like 14 cameras running all night. The investigators have to review the footage.

At one point a group of us heard something call out one of the investigator's names, saying "hey [insert name]". No one in the museum had said anything at that particular moment.

I didn't see many spirits ironically this night, I only saw a couple faces here and there. We were investigating until 3 a.m..
