⚠️ WARNINGS⚠️ biting, public, hickeys ,creampie, quickie
Tumblr media
You and your boyfriend ,Steve Harrington, worked together a scoops ahoy, which was perfect because you guys wanted to spend time together during the summer and work together, you two became good friends with Robin and we're always a chaotic duo and being dumbasses.
Today was just a normal day at work and you and Steve were in the backroom of the scoops ahoy just chilling and waiting for your guy's turn to work after Robin, you were playing with Steve's hair, just because you love touching and playing with it, his head in between you legs, which ofc he didn't mind one bit, and you were just playing with it, he's actually pretty ticklish around his neck area, you'd barley touch his hair and his back would twitch as he chuckled a bit, you found it cute and always used that information doing the deed, he was twitching a bit from you touching his hair, he put his hand behind his back to try to make the twitching stop which helped a bit but he'd still twitch here and there "aww your so cute ..and you have pretty hair" you pulled on it aggressively and playfully ,not sexually , "OWW!" you laughed a bit and he started to laugh, he knew you were just playing around and your laughs were contagious
Robin open the window things "excuse me! what you two doing? I'm bored out hereeee!" She saw that you were just playing with his hair, you both stared at her "you playing barbie (y/n)?" "Yes I am" you said smiling "should I be offended or flattered" Steve said "I'm not sure.. maybe both" Robin said "his hair is so soft" you said "yea well if his hair gets in the ice cream it's over for this business " Robin said "yea I'll wash my hands when it's my turn to work" you said smiling "yea you don't want the people catching a disease ..or lice" Robin said "hey! I don't have lice!" Steve yelled "then what's this small white thing moving in your hair?" You said, he turned around to look at you quickly, raising his eyebrows high with a bit of fright in his eyes as in to see if your being serious or not "I'm kiddinggg..it's most likely dandruff" "wha!-" "eww Steve.. get it together" "there's no way.. I got rid of my dandruff!" "How's that possible?" Robin said "I have my ways..and what are you doing your supposed to be working" Steve said "I'm boreedd!!" "But we're hanging out" Steve said "I don't care I'm bored" "give us like 15 more min" "15?? I'm dying out here guysss" Steve got up and closed the window things "no hard feelings right Robin?" Steve said, she opened the windows again and bonked his head with her hand and closed the windows again, "ouch"
You started laughing, he smiled after seeing you laughing "yea what r u laughing at?" He came face to face with you "your just...yea" your still smiling, he smiled brighter "I'm just what?" "Your adorable" "oh yea?....well your beautiful" "am i?" "Ofc you are" he looked at you with eyes full of love "beautiful inside and out" he kissed you on the lips "so are you " you said "yeaa.. I know" he rolled his eyes playfully with a smirk, you laughed and pulled him into a kiss again which turned into a passionate make out session, your hands went around his neck as his were on your waist and cheek "heyy uh wanna do a quickie?" He whispered "wha- Steve were at work! What if someone hears or robin sees?" You whispered yelled "we'll just have to be quiet " "but why now?" "Because you just make me crazy" you signed and thought about it, looking away from him, but you could feel his pleading eyes "mmMM fine! But you better be quick"
He smiled and started to kiss your neck, you pulled his hair slightly making him already moan quietly, you slapped his arm "be quiet!" You whispered, he just went back to kissing your neck, leaving some hickeys, he started to take your shorts off and finger you slowly while rubbing your clit with his thumb, you grabbed onto his short sleeve tightly, trying your best not to moan, y'all just panted silently through the kiss, after you were wet enough he stood up and banged your back against the wall as silently as possible, making Robin hear a thud, she was about to go inside the room to ask wtf was happening but she heard kissing noises "...eugh are you serious??", He then started to lower his shorts, revealing his hard member, his hands still one your waist and yours on his back and neck, he then lifted one of your legs and moved your panties to a side, he then looked into your eyes deeply, wanting to see your reaction when he put his dick inside you, you both panting slightly, he then slowly thrusted his cock into you, you covered your mouth to not let a moan slip out, your eyebrows furrowed from the pleasure already kicking in, Steve just sighed in satisfaction, his breath stuttering a bit, when he was fully inside you he started to kiss your neck "please start Steve" you whispered, he started to thrust into you, you gripped onto his shoulder tightly and squeezed your eyes shut, he just tilted his head back sighing deeply, you started to moan quietly but loud enough for people to hear so you bit on his neck to stop moaning, he hissed in pain but moaned a bit, his hand went up your shirt, under your bra and started to caress your breast tenderly, pinching your tit, you bit onto him a little harder, leaving bite marks on his neck, he panted "damn...your irresistible" and started to thrust into you faster, you slipped up a moan but he kissed you to muffle your moans, you pulled his hair making him groan into the kiss, his thrusts started to get aggressive, making some rattling noises
Robin could hear a few things but mostly the rattling and thumping, she was disgusted "hey what's going on back there?" A customer said "oh they're just fixing something that's.. broken yea"
You could feel his cock hit your g spot, aggressively hitting it, making you arch your back slightly "fuck..I'm c-close...steve!" You whispered "me too...fuck! your amazing" he kissed you aggressively thrusting into you faster, you both moaning into the kiss, almost not caring if anybody else heard, it just felt too good, your wall tightened around his cock, rubbing it perfectly, he groaned louder and came deeply inside your womb making you cum on his dick, clenching onto him tighter, you could feel his dick twitch aggressively inside you
You two stayed like that for a few seconds ,y'all panted for awhile then he pulled out, his cum dripping out of your cunt, "fuck..that was amazing" he panted, Robin then started to bang on the windows aggressively "hey are yall done now?! You better clean up your mess and get to work!" You blushed a bit, Steve put his shorts back on and got you some paper towels to clean your self up a bit, your legs a bit sore, he opened the window "you could hear us?" He whispered to Robin with slight fear in his voice "everybody heard you dingus" you then slapped the back of his head "I told you we shouldn't have done it!" "Hey it takes two to tango! Don't blame it all on me you wanted to do it too!" "Excuse me?" "HEY GUYS!" you both turned to Robin "everybody is staring" you both stopped but you kicked his leg "ow!" "Oh my God you two owe me" "yea yea whatever" Steve said he turned to you and hugged you, catching you off guard, he then whispered in your ear "I don't regret it tho"

Can’t Fight This Feeling volume 2
when i’m with you

Warnings - this whole story is going to be major spoilers for Season 4 volumes 1 & 2
Tumblr media
-2-
Once I was showered and dressed I walked down the hall and heard my mom and Steve chatting in the kitchen. A sound not unusual in the Henderson house at any point during the day.
But I wouldn’t say that I wasn’t nervous about what she was talking to him about. Obviously I hadn’t told Steve about the acceptance letters and the worst thing would be him hearing it from my mom instead of me.
I stepped into the kitchen and they both looked over to me smiling, “Morning LuLu,” my mom said brightly.
I smiled to the two of them and took a seat next to Steve, who leaned over and kissed my cheek, “Morning, baby,” he whispered before sitting back into his chair, draping his arm around the back of my chair.
We fell into easy conversation until Steve and I decided it was time to go. I picked up my backpack from the front hall way and went out to Steve’s car with him.
“I can’t wait to get today over with,” I told him as we pulled out of my driveway.
He laughed and looked over to me quickly, starting the familiar route to Robins, “Yeah?” he questioned.
I hummed and nodded, looking over to him, “I’m so burnt out, I need the week to recoup.”
He grinned but kept his eyes on the road, “Well, I’ve got lots of plans for us for the week,” he explained.
I quirked an eyebrow at him, “Plans? What plans?”
He took my hand in his and kissed the top of it, “It’s a surprise,”
I laughed and shook my head, typical Steve, “Well I’m excited to see how these plans live up to your previous ones.”
He shook his head with a small smile, “Trust me, they will,” he said as we pulled up to Robins house where she was waiting for us at the end of the driveway with her band uniform laying at her feet and trumpet case in hand.
She was staring at us wide eyed when we got out to help her out her stuff into the car, “You good, Rob?” Steve asked, putting her uniform into the back seat.
She nodded lightly before passing me the trumpet case which I put into the back gently.
“Yeah I just feel like my head is going to explode,” she said airily before getting into the back.
Steve and I got back into the car, “Why?” I asked, looking back to her.
She let her head fall onto the back seats head rest, “Because I was up most of the night thinking!”
“Thinking about what?” Steve asked her as we started driving to the school.
“Everything! I was stressing about this pep rally! And then all of a sudden it’s seven in the morning, we have to go to the stupid pep rally in question,” she started ranting as she came up between mine and Steve’s heads in the front, “and I woke up looking like a total corpse!” she groaned and pulled at her face.
“You’re worried about the pep rally?” I questioned, “Robin, you’ve done a million pep rallies, why are you afraid of this one?”
“It’s…a big rally,” she moaned, flopping her head onto my shoulder, I rested my head on hers and patted the top of her head.
“You expect us to believe that?” Steve asked her, causing her to pop her head back up.
“Yeah?” she questioned looking to him.
“Yeah? We both know what this is about! I’m not buying that bullshit about the pep rally this is about Vickie!” he exclaimed.
My eyebrows shot up and I looked to her, only for her to slink back to the back seat with a red face.
“A Vickie update that I’m not aware of?” I questioned.
“No!”
“Yes!”
I giggled and shook my head. Robin had let Steve in on the fact that she liked girls about a month after Starcourt. They had severely bonded over the time they had worked at Starcourt before Hawkins went to shit, and the underground lair only solidified their bond. She told me Steve and I were on the same level of trust, so she knew she could tell him.
“Yes there is a Vickie update, babe. And you know what else?” Steve said, looking over to me.
“Don’t listen to him, Louise,” Robin chided from the backseat.
Steve scoffed and looked at Robin through the rear view mirror, “No, you listen Robin. You gotta stop pretending to be someone else when you’re around her! Just be you!”
Robins head popped back up in between us, “You’re just quoting me to me, dingus.”
“Hey, Steve’s right!” I agreed, “You gotta take your own advice, Rob!”
“It’s different!” she insisted.
“Not really,” Steve squinted, “just take the advice you give and flip it around to you, ya clutz.”
“Hey, it is different! You asked Lou out, if she said no, whatever no one bats an eye you loose a couple cool points, not that you had many to begin with-sorry-but if she said no you just move on. If I ask out the wrong girl, boom! I’m the town pariah.”
I looked over at her and saw her frown, and I felt devastated for her. She was, unfortunately, right. Some people were…very closed minded in small town Indiana. And it sucked because…people who didn’t know Robin would base their feelings about her solely based on who she liked. And Robin was one of the most selfless, kindest people out there.
Steve signed, “Robin, I’d buy that…except Vickie is definitely the right girl! Hence, Lou,” he turned his head quick to look to me, “the new development.”
“But we don’t know, Steve!” Robin called from the back.
“She returned Fast Times paused at fifty three minutes five seconds! And who pauses Fast Times at fifty three minutes and five seconds?” he asked.
I frowned and looked to him, he had wild eyes as he watched the road in front of us. My frown turned into a smile as I watched him. I could tell that whatever he was going to say was his way of trying to help. And I always loved him for trying to do what he could to help.
“People who like boobies, Robin!” he exclaimed.
I looked down at my lap as my silent laugh came out just as I heard a small, ‘ew!’ from behind me. Again, he always tried to help…in his own Steve Harrington kind of way.
“Don’t say boobies!” Robin begged.
I looked behind me to her as she threw her head back.
“Boobies!” Steve shouted, “Its no big deal! I like boobies, you like boobies! Vickie likes boobies! Definitely!”
I slapped his chest lightly, “Okay, now I’m team Robin! No more boobie talk!”
He looked to me and winked quickly making me giggle and roll my eyes.
“I’ve never been so relieved to be at school,” Robin muttered as Steve drove down the small hill to the high school jumping out the second Steve had the car stopped, “I’ll see you in there Lou!” she told me as she hopped out of the car trying to balance her uniform and trumpet case in her arms.
I sighed and looked to my boyfriend who was watching me a small grin, “Come here,” he said quietly leaning across the middle console.
I smiled and met him halfway, our lips met and he immediately deepened the kiss. I put my hand on the back of his neck and pulled him closer to him, he had his hand on my leg trailing it up.
“Whoa,” I laughed as I pulled away from him, “we’re in the car with a bunch of people around us,” I reminded him softly.
He smirked and shrugged, “You’re the only one I care about here, they’d all just be jealous anyways.”
I leaned in closer and kissed him quickly, “I gotta go,” I whispered.
He groaned, “Just blow off today, it’s the last day before spring break,” he suggested.
Shaking my head I pulled my bag onto my lap and smiled at him, “I love you,” I said quietly.
“I love you too,” he smiled, “I’ll pick you up at home.”
I nodded, “Bye, love,” I said, opening up the car door and getting out.
“Bye, baby,” he said before I shut the door and started walking towards the gym where we were all being ushered into.
I spotted my brother and Mike standing together with Max. I climbed up the bleachers, waving at Robin when we locked eyes, her eyebrows disappearing into her hair and side eying Vickie who was next to her. I shot her a subtle thumbs up before arriving at the row with my brother.
“Hey,” I called to them over the noise of band and cheering.
The boys barely acknowledged me but Max waved me over to stand with her, I pushed past Dustin and Mike and stood next to her.
“You okay?” I asked.
She shrugged and watched the cheer performance in front of us, “Never better,” she said sarcastically.
I sighed and put an arm around her shoulder, “You can talk to me, Max. I’m always around to listen.”
She looked down and nodded, “I know,” she responded looking up to me, “I’ve just…I can’t stop thinking about it. Even when I’m sleeping it’s all there is.”
“I thought you said the nightmares weren’t happening as often?” I questioned looking down at her.
She readjusted her headphones on her neck, not meeting my gaze.
“Max,” I said, leaning down to be able to speak more privately to her, “you can talk to me. To any of us,” I reminded her.
They started announcing the basketball team and Max turned her attention to them, turning her head slightly towards me, “I know, Lou,” she said before shifting her gaze to the team.
I squeezed her before letting my arm drop, turning to watch Lucas run out into the gym in his basketball uniform. I cheered and clapped for him, waving once he looked towards us.
Jason started talking and hyping up the team, and giving a shoutout to his girlfriend Chrissy aka head cheerleader and queen of Hawkins High.
“You know…I think I can speak for all of us when I say, it’s been a tough year for Hawkins,” he began solemnly, “so much loss. And sometimes I wonder ‘how much loss can one community take?’”
I looked over to Mike and my brother both rolling their eyes.
“In dark days like this we need something to believe in,” he continued, “so last night, when we were down be ten points at half to Christian Academy. I looked at my team!”
“Oh God, is he turning the fire at Starcourt into a motivational basketball moment?” I asked.
“And I said, ‘Think of Jack! Think of Melissa! Think of Heather! Think of Billy!’” Jason went on.
I felt Max stiffen from next to me, I put my arm back around her shoulder and squeezed, “It’s okay,” I whispered.
“Think about our heroic police chief, Jim Hopper! Think about every one of our friends that perished in that fire. What did they die for? For us to lose to some crap school?”
“What an idiot,” I whispered.
“For us to return home with our heads hung low in defeat?”
“No!” the crowd chanted back to Jason.
“No,” Jason repeated, “let’s win this game. Let’s win this game for them. And that’s exactly what we did!”
The crowd began cheering like maniacs. I looked around them, amazed that they were eating up everything Jason was feeding them. What did they die for, for us to lose to some crap school? What kind of bullshit was he spewing.
“We embarrassed those candy asses in their own house. And now tonight-tonight we’re going to bring home the championship trophy! Let’s go!” Jason yelled into the microphone as the room exploded with cheers and screams.
“Tonight?” Mike yelled.
I looked over to him and Dustin, both with a confused look on their faces.
“How is that possible?” Dustin asked.
“It’s a tournament,” Max told them, “you win one game and go on until there’s only one team left.”
“That’s how sports work, guys,” I chuckled as I let go of Max’s shoulder.
“But it has to be tonight?” Dustin whined.
“What’s wrong with tonight?” I asked as we started slowly moving out of the bleachers.
“Hellfire!” they both shouted with their backs to me.
I rolled my eyes, “I think Eddie will be okay with changing it so Lucas can be there.”
Dustin spun to face me, “You know Eddie as well as any of us,” he commented.
“No I dont?” I responded.
He scoffed and shook his head, “Yeah whatever. Eddie will not be happy about this.”
I threw my hands on the air once we reached the gym floor and walked out, “I dont know then, Dusty. Talk to Lucas. See if coach will tell him if he’ll be in the game or sitting tonight. Or talk to Eddie. Whatever floats your boat,” I explained, “I gotta get to class. I’ll see you guys later. Max, find me if you need anything,” I told the group before going to my locker.
I went through my morning as normal, each teacher giving us our homework for spring break and reading assignments.
I finally walked into the cafeteria with my lunch tray in my hands, trying to find Robin. I didn’t see her at first, but I did witness Eddie Munson jump onto the Hellfire club table.
“But as long as you’re into band, or science or parties,” he was staring at different tables as he was walking along the Hellfire table, “Or a game where you throw balls into laundry baskets!” he shouted to the basketball teams table.
I saw Jason stand up and say something to Eddie, but Eddie responded by using his fingers as devil horns and sticking his tongue out.
I grinned and walked in along the wall behind the tables just as Eddie leaped off the table and scared a student.
“You’re not making a good impression, Eddie,” I laughed walking past him.
He gasped dramatically putting an arm around me, “Lady Henderson, pleasure as always.”
I grinned and rolled my eyes slightly, “Hi Eddie.”
“What do you mean a bad impression. Me? Of all people?” he questioned me jokingly.
“You scared the poor girl!” I reminded him.
“There’s many more things in the world scarier than me,” he argued.
I laughed and nodded, “That’s fair.”
“So, have you given anymore thought to my proposal?” he wondered.
I chuckled and shook my head, looking into his eyes, “About what? A date?” he nodded his head quickly with a small grin, “Eddie, I’m with Steve,” I reminded him, “I tell you every time.”
He chuckled and lifted his hands in mock surrender, “Okay, okay. You got me, sweetheart. See you after Hellfire tonight?”
Sighing I looked to him, “I’ll be picking him up, yes. See you around Eddie,” I said with a small smile before finishing my walk through the cafeteria keeping my eyes open for Robin. Who I evetyally found alone at the end of the table staring at her tray in dismay.
“What’s wrong now? The mystery meat finally come alive and eat your fork?” I questioned sitting down next to her.
She looked over to me and groaned, “I just don’t know what to do about the whole Vickie situation! Is Steve right, is Steve wrong? And if he’s wrong then I’m going to be even more of social outcast. Or worse, if he’s right then for one, I’ll have to listen to him gloat and second then I’ll have to move onto the stage that comes after hopelessly crushing on someone. Which I don’t even know what that stage would be. And-“
“Robin!” I cut her off, “You need to breathe! Remember! You can’t be a walking run on sentence!”
She breathed out deeply, “You’re right. You’re right! Okay, I’m breathing and going to chill.”
“Or your own version of chill,” I chuckled, picking at the sandwich on my tray.
“Hey, my version of chill and everyone’s else’s is all the same just different perspectives,” she noted, “you’re coming tonight, right?”
I smiled and looked to her worried face and pinched her cheek gently, “Of course we’ll be there tonight. Steve and I wouldnt miss it! I would, however, love to miss dinner with his parents.”
Her eyes widened and she turned to fully face me in her chair, “Excuse me? Dinner at his parents?”
I hummed and nodded, “My reaction exactly.”
“Why? It’s not Steve’s birthday…not a holiday…why are they going to be gracing either of you with their presence?”
I shrugged, “I-I truly have no clue. Steve’s nervous about it, I can tell. He doesn’t like his routine of not seeing his parents messed with too often.”
“You’ll fill me in, right?” she hinted with a smile.
“Of course!” I giggled, just as Dustin ran up to us.
“Do either of you want to play in Hellfire tonight?”
I felt my face scrunch up, “Pardon?”
“I talked to Eddie like you recommended,” he said shooting me a dirty look, “and he’s pissed. He’s not moving the campaign and said we needed to find someone to sub in for Lucas!”
“So you’re not coming to the game? To support Lucas, your best friend?” I sat up straighter and stared at him irritated.
“He’s going to sit on the bench again, Lou!”
“It doesn’t matter!” I told him, “He wants you there to show your support! Benched or not, he’s one of your best friends!”
“Just tell me yes or no! I don’t want a lecture!” he exclaimed throwing his arms out next to him.
“No! I told Lucas we’d watch his game and I meant it, Steve and I are going!” I stated.
He scoffed and looked to Robin, “Rob?” he questioned.
She shook her head immediately, “Band,” she said simply.
Dustin groaned loudly and stormed off.
“What a dingus,” I complained.
Robin laughed and nodded, “Forget that. You have bigger things to worry about today.”
I let out a fake cry and pushed my tray away from in front of me, “Don’t remind me.”

the sun was setting. orange and yellow hues sparkled through the windows that the curtains let peek through. the room was quiet, the only noises coming from the shared breathing and the rustling of the bedding. the room felt hot with the door closed and the previous activity that had you and steve just laying in bed with the sheets up to your naked, sweaty chests.
steve rolled over and changed from laying on his back to his stomach, staring at his ceiling while adjusted his body so his head lay on your stomach. he had one leg in and the other out, your right leg in between. steve managed to wiggle an arm under your back as his free hand drew whatever came to mind onto your sticky belly.
a tilt to your head as it lay on the pillow, a lovesick smile tugging the seams of your lips. a hand fell on steve’s head and you began running the digits through his thick head of brown hair with a few lighter parts popping out from his time in the sun. nails scratching at his scalp to pull vibrating groans or fingers twirling strands of ruly hair around.
steve rubbed his open palm over your waist and down to your thighs before trailing up again. his wonderful lips plant wet, open-mouth kisses over your stomach and the imperfections scattered over your lower half. his nose would glide over your belly button before setting his chin just above it to peer at your with lidded eyes.
“yes, handsome?” you hummed as you pushed hair behind his ear.
“i love you.”
three words, eight letters.
the two of you have said them for years. at first just surface level meaning, friendly-familia meaning, something you say in passing to your parents as you leave the house in a hurry or friends when they do a favor for you. but eventually, the words held a different meaning for the two of you. it would be lingering touches and eye contact maintained longer that was acceptable. staring at steve’s side profile as he talked, letting your thoughts run away from you with imaginary scenarios before shaking them away and landing back to reality.
and now the words held all those meanings, silver bands wrapped around ring fingers showing the world.
“i love you too, stevie.” thumb straightening his left brow into place.
steve rubbed his thumb up and down at your hip bone. more kisses pressed to your stomach, some quick and open, some more lingering, and some with heat as he gave little bites at the skin. you would giggle or squirm, a moan pulled from your throat when the feel of his lips felt tantalizing. fingers would curl and pull steve’s hair in response, you would feel the smile as he continued his loving assault.
“you know,” lingering kisses to your lower stomach, “i can’t wait to have kids with you.”
“oh, yeah?” top teeth biting into your bottom lip to stop a smile.
steve stopped the kisses (much to your disappointment) to once again rest his chin on your stomach. it was slightly discomforting but you didn’t push him away.
“yeah. i know you don’t want many if we were to have our own. so i want an older girl so she can help keep her younger brother in line.”
you let your index finger run down the slope of steve’s nose bridge, “how long have you been thinking about this?”
the quick dart of steve’s eyes piqued your interest. he only did that when he was embarrassed by the information he was about to lay out. you didn't push him, just observed him as you waited.
you felt steve’s voice but didn’t hear it. he spoke his words into your skin and it took you a moment before you realized he said anything. you asked him to repeat it politely.
he cleared his throat. “since our third date.”
“why our third date? if this was a romance anything, you would’ve said our first date.” you weren’t criticizing, just curious. you just remember it as a fun roller rink date.
your simple question sparked a twinkle in steve’s pupils. “i know what you're thinking.” “what am i thinking?”
“that it was just a roller rink date. why is that so special to start thinking about kids? right?” a shrug was your answer. steve continued his version of the story.
“okay. well, i was getting us food and you stayed in our booth. after i placed our order i leaned against the wall so i could continue to watch you-“ “stalker.”
steve tickled at your sides, breaking you into fits of laughs and tears before you conceded. “anyway. i was staring at you, my mind just constantly saying, “you got your girl”. and then you stood up and walked to a claw game. i was gonna rush over so i could impress you, but stopped when i saw you crouch down and start talking to a little boy. then you started to play the game and after many, many, many-“ you shoved his shoulder and the both of you chuckled, “many tries. you got the boy a stuffed animal. and in his excitement, he hugged you. and just seeing the way you froze before holding him tightly with your eyes closed…”
steve trailed off and you could feel the tears wishing to fall. hands grabbing for steve’s cheeks and giving a slight tug to signal him to climb up your body. his hands sat by the sides of your chest as you planted kiss after kiss over his face. a kiss to the side of his lip and you move his head back.
“here’s a potential plan. we wait another year or two, getting more marriage on the plate and getting used to our grown-up jobs. and then from there, we could start having a bit more carefree sex and just… see what happens. what d’you think?”
steve’s eyes went side to side then to your lips and back to your eyes. “i say…” he leaned closer, lips ghosting each other as he whispered, “that’s a good plan, honey.” and he kissed you until you couldn’t remember your name, only steve’s.

8. “I’m not okay if you’re not okay.” for the angst prompts with eddie or stevie?
love everything you write, you’re v talented 🤎
Tumblr media
Steve Harrington x Reader | 2.3k+ words
With everyone else worrying about Max, no one else seems to notice your symptoms, that you too are within Vecna's grasp.
"I'm not okay, if you're not okay" / send in a angst prompt / thank you so much anon you're so sweet!
You groaned slightly as the pulsing migraine that seemed to never leave you grew worse and worse with each passing second. Around you, everyone was gathered in the basement of the Wheeler home. Nancy sitting on the couch with Robin beside her, and the kids sitting on the floor with Max. Steve sitting on the far side in the armchair, and that left you, sitting on the floor to the side.
The glow of the television was making your headache worse. That should've been the first sign with everything that had happened in the last twelve or so hours. With everyone's, including yours, focus on Max being under Vecna's curse - it didn't occur to anyone that any of you could fall victim as well.
With the death of Chrissy and Fred - and now the threat against Max - everyone's been running on little sleep and even less food. So when you started feeling a little less than well you chopped it up to the recent events.
"Hey Nance, is it ok if I go and crash in the guest room? Not feeling too good." You spoke up, causing everyone's attention to be on you.
Steve watched with a worried look on his face as you stood up from your place on the floor.
"Of course," Nancy spoke, standing from the couch, prepared to lead you up to the room.
As you moved to walk past him, you felt a warmth grasp your hand gently. When you looked down you saw Steve's fingers entangled with yours.
"You ok?" He voiced, his voice laced with worry. "Want me to come with you?"
"I'm ok. Just tired, haven't really slept...given the circumstances." You let out a dry laugh, "Stay...I'll be fine."
Steve nodded his head as he gave your hand a gentle squeeze before letting go of it. He sat back in his seat and watched as you ascended the stairs and out of his sight. When he went to look back toward the television and caught something in the corner of his eye. He quickly looked to see Robin staring at him with a knowing look.
It seemed obvious to everyone in the group, but the two of you, that you and Steve were in love. You'd known each other since the first grade but it seems that in the last few years the two of you have been really close. With everything dealing with the Upside Down drawing the once childhood best friends back together.
"Don't," Steve spoke with a stern look on his face.
"What? I didn't say anything," Robin spoke with a smirk.
"You don't have to," Steve sighed leaning his elbow on the armrest, so he could rest his head on his hand.
"Can we fast forward to the part where the two of you stop making heart eyes at each other and just get together already? It's starting to get annoying." Dustin said, keeping his gaze on the movie.
Steeve's only response was lightly smacking the back of the teenager's head.
You walked down the hallways of the Creel House with the floorboards beneath your feet seeming to creak with each step. The house was so dusty that you were sure the air was 85% dust and nothing else. With spiderwebs dangling from nearly every corner and railing. Ahead of you, a little was Dustin and Steve, with the younger one sweeping the flashlight against the floor to light up the path.
"So what exactly are we looking for?" You asked, slowly walking along the walls as you peeked at the photos hanging on the wall. Some so sun-bleached you couldn't make anything out.
"Anything that screams Upside Down. Or Vecna-y" Dustin answered
"I don't think anyone of us knows what is Vecna-y besides Max," You spoke up as you moved to catch up with them.
"Anything out of place." Dustin sounded annoyed, rolling his eyes.
He continued down the hallway as you and Steve fell into step beside each other.
"God, the older he gets the more asshole he becomes," You laughed
"You're telling me. His ego is becoming unbearable." Steve shook his head.
He looked down at you and watched you for a moment. It was hard for him to not noticed the dark bags under your eyes when you came down from the guest room that morning. You looked more tired than when you went to bed.
"How are you feeling?" Steve asked, causing you to turn to him with a confused look. "You said last night you weren't ok...and you seemed a little worse for wear this morning."
You pursed your lips slightly, flashes of your nightmares coming back to you.
"Just a rough night's sleep. Worrying about Max...worrying about Eddie...really thought all this stuff was behind us. You know?"
Steve nodded his head "Yeah, I know what you mean."
As the two of you passed a bedroom you started hearing the tick...tick...tick of a grandfather clock. You stopped for a moment and looked into the room to see a large clock standing in the middle of the room. You were confused at its placement, especially since it was a replica of the one down in the main entrance.
"Steve, you see this?"
You turned toward your friend but were welcomed to an empty hallway. The ticking got louder before it stopped and instead began to chime. It was so loud that it made you jump back slightly. But when you looked into the room it was gone...and instead in front of you looked like your old living room.
Sitting on the couch was your mother, her head in her hands, as she sobbed. But something about her cries sounded off. Your heart dropped into the pit of your stomach as you stepped forward hesitantly.
"Mom?" You called out "Mom? What's wrong?"
She continued to cry and seemed to be ignoring you.
"He left us. He left us...." She cried
You walked a little closer. "Mom? W-Who left?'
"...All because of you..."
"Momma, you're scaring me," You spoke as you reached down to gently grab her shoulder.
"It's your fault he left! It's your fault he left us!" Your mother snapped up and started screaming at you, scaring you enough to cause you to fall back against the floor. "It's your fault your father left! Your fault!"
"...and couldn't understand why he couldn't just have returned you know? I mean how many times do we have to call before he finally just does it?" Steve spoke, telling a story about a customer at work.
But when you did respond that was finally when he noticed that you weren't beside him. Steve looked around confused when he didn't immediately see you. But when he turned back to the end of the hall, he saw you, standing in the middle of a doorway.
"You find something?" Steve called out, moving back down the hallway toward you. When you didn't respond he called out your name, posing it more like a question. "Come on dude..."
When he got closer to you, Steve was able to notice and realize that something was wrong. Goosebumps broke out across his skin as an unsettling feeling started to fill his gut. He called out your name again, this time more timid and scared.
"This isn't funny," Steve took the last few steps and moved to stand in front of you.
His worst fears came true as he looked to see you deep within Vecna's curse. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head with them fluttering quickly, only showing the whites of your eyes. Your head was tilted back slightly with your entire body stiff and rigid in place.
"Y/N! Y/N!" Steve called out, placing his hands on your shoulders and shaking you. Deep down he knew that wasn't going to do anything, but the desperate feeling coming over him was enough to make him sick. "Don't do this to me, god, please!"
The desperate screams of Steve calling your name echoed through the old home like a nightmare. Everyone quickly raced to the two of you. They all came up the stairs to see Steve shaking and patting your shoulders and arms frantically as he called your name. The panic was obvious in both his voice and all over his face. His brown eyes were wide with fear as tears quickly began to fill them.
"What happened!?" Nancy asked the moment she got to the two of you.
"I-I don't know...one more moment we're talking and the next she's like this..." Steve stepped back, panting and running his fingers through his hair. "...I don't even know how long she's been like this...I-I didn't notice she wasn't beside me anymore."
"Does anyone know her favorite song!?" Robin spoke, quickly joining in Steve's panic.
For a moment Steve's thoughts became a little clear at the mention of a song.
"Center console of my car, Blondie tape...go now!" Steve shouted toward Lucas and Dustin.
The two of them scrambled before quickly turning back down the hall and out of the house.
"Max, we might need to pause Kate Bush for a moment," Nancy spoke
"Of course," The girl spoke, quickly turning off her Walkman.
It felt like forever, but it was only a few minutes before Dustin and Lucas came racing back up the stairs. With every minute they were gone Steve thought for sure he was going to pass out. But the moment the Blondie tape was placed in his hands, he worked quickly and placed the headphones on your ears.
But the moment they slipped onto ears, your feet began to rise from the ground, as you lifted into the ground. Everyone froze for a moment as they watched you rise with your eyes fluttering more violently.
"Fuck, fuck, no!" Steve screamed, slamming the walkman shut and quickly searching for your song. "Come on baby, come on...don't do this to me..."
Steve didn't care that he was openly crying.
His only focus was on you.
Praying to whatever god that listened that you wouldn't be taken away from him.
"...I am here to end your pain," Vecna spoke as he loomed over you. His monstrous features became more haunting from the shadows that crossed over his face.
You quickly shook your head as you tried to run from him, but soon felt something wrap around your ankle. You were barely able to catch yourself before your body was propelled down to the floor. Another vine see wrapped around your wrists and you were lifted up in front of him - Vecna. You cried uncontrollably as you faced him.
"Please...please...I-I don't want to...d-die...please..." You begged with tears falling down your cheeks.
"Let me end your suffering," Vecna spoke before his large hand came and began to hover over your face.
You remembered listening to Max as she told of her experience with Vecna and the fear that came over her.
It's enough to make you sick, twisting your insides with the deep fear that you are going to die. It's like acid moving through your veins.
Buy soon a song began to echo everywhere around you.
Follow by voices.
"Don't leave me, baby, please, please...I love you...please..."
A large gasp left your lips like your lungs weren't able to breathe the entire time you were under, along with your body falling. You let out a scream of surprise as you felt the free fall take over your body. A pair of arms wrapped around you tightly and pulled you into their chest, acting as your cushion as you fell. You let out uncontrollable sobs that came from you the moment your brain was able to register that you were safe.
You saw the relief on each of your friend's faces along with a few crying. Robin turns to find comfort in Nancy and Max doing the same with Lucas. In your ears, you could hear the vocals of Pat Benatar in your ears. Your hand reached up and pulled the headphones off as you relaxed into someone's chest.
"I've got you...I've got you...." Steve whispered softly in your ears. "You're safe."
You turned around in his arms and nuzzled your face into his neck and continued to cry. You hadn't felt this safe in a long time, resting in Steve's arms. But that acidic fear Max talked about still lingered slightly.
The sound of the bedroom door opening caught your attention. When you looked up you saw Steve sheepishly standing in the doorway. After Creel House, everyone gathered at Steve's home. His parents were gone on another trip, so the Harrington house became everyone's safe haven. You'd even gone and got Eddie from the boat house so he could shower and sleep on a real bed.
"I-I wanted to come and check on you...see how you were doing," Steve spoke, his voice holding a bit of nerve.
"I-I'm ok..." Your voice was still hoarse from the crying and screaming of earlier. "A-Are you ok?"
Steve hesitated for a moment before walking further into the room and closing the door behind him. You watched as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed beside you. His hand reached out and gently grabbed yours as he looked down at you. Steve's face was pinched with worry and you could still see the fear swimming in his brown eyes.
"No, damnnit." He frantically spoke "I’m not okay if you’re not okay. Do you not realize how much you mean to me? God...for a second I had to think what it would be like in a world without you because I thought for sure he'd..." Steve couldn't finish the sentence, "I can't lose you."
"I'm ok for now," You spoke softly, "I-I didn't know what was happening either, I promise, Steve..."
"I believe you, hey, hey" Steve caressed your face as he noticed the panic you were starting to send yourself into. "I believe you."
You moved to wrap your arms around him, once again needing the comfort of his arms. Your face nuzzled into his neck and let his scent surround you. It was his musky cologne, laundry detergent with a hint of his body wash. The scene was purely Steve and was the only thing to make the fear go away.
"I heard you...you know..." You spoke up, voice slightly muffled by his neck. "When I was under...I heard you."
Steve nervously laughed "Did you?"
You pulled back to stare up at him, so he could see and sincerity and severity of your words. "I love you too, Steve."
A smile tugged on the corner of his lips, as his body seemed to relax slightly. Steve moved quickly caressing your face before bending down and kissing you deeply. His lips molded perfectly around yours as they moved in sync.
Steve pulled back and pressed his forehead against yours. "I'm not letting anything happen to you. Never again."

Your fingers shook as you picked up the small test on the counter. Two pink lines. Pregnant. You were pregnant. A rush of emotions flooded through your body as you stared at the test. On one hand, you and Steve had always wanted to have kids, and you knew that he would be the best dad in the world. And on the other hand, the world was a lot scarier than you’d ever imagined. The two of you had been through a lot, and it really hadn’t been long since the last deadly and life-altering event in Hawkins. What if something happened again? What if Steve didn’t come back next time?
Unsure how to feel, you clutched the test in your hand and sank to the ground, knees to your chest. And how were you going to tell Steve? You were almost positive he’d be happy, but what if he wasn’t? Babies were definitely in the plans, but that was someday… you hadn’t discussed babies in your current plans.
Just then, there was a knock on the bathroom door. Steve’s muffled voice came from the other side, “Baby? Are you okay in there? It’s been a while…”
You didn’t answer, heart pounding in your chest, eyes flashing to the door. It would only be a matter of time until Steve would open the door.
After a few more moments of silence from you, he spoke up again, sounding a bit more concerned, “Is everything alright, sweetheart? Please answer me…”
Taking a shaky breath, you answered with an unconvincing, “I’m fine, Steve.”
He knew you better than that, though, and could hear your voice waver. The knob on the door turned, “I’m coming in, okay? I’ll cover my eyes if you want me to!”
This made you laugh a little as you lifted a hand to wipe under your eyes, “‘Kay. You don’t have to cover your eyes.”
The door pushed open and Steve popped his head in, hands over his eyes still, “Are you sure? Won’t look if you don’t want me to.”
“Steve, I’m fully clothed.”
“Well, that’s too bad,” he huffed playfully, smiling at the sound of another giggle from you. Uncovering his eyes, he pushed the door open further so he could come in. His gaze dropped to you on the floor and he frowned slightly, gently pushing a socked foot across the linoleum into yours, “Whatchya doin’ down there, sweetheart?”
You quickly averted your eyes from him, closing your hand tighter around the test and shoving your hand between your thighs. Shrugging, you mumbled, “Dunno.”
“Okay,” he replied, not wanting to press. Before you could say anything else, he dropped to the floor next to you. His thigh pressed to yours, arm closest to you wrapping around your shoulders. Fingertips tracing over your upper arm lightly, he leaned over to press a kiss to your temple.
Steve knew you’d talk when you were ready. Sometimes you just needed someone to sit with you for a bit. It took a moment, but you finally leaned into his side, head pressing into his shoulder. He’d sit with you forever, if that was all you needed.
After a few minutes of silence, you let out a soft sigh and shifted your posture. Hand still closed around the test, you looked up at your boyfriend, “Steve?”
“Mhm?” he hummed, gently smoothing a hand over your hairline.
Without saying anything else, you opened your hands, holding it out in his direction. Your hands were still shaking, so he cupped your hands in his, “What’s this, babe?” Leaning in closer, he furrowed his eyebrows, “I can’t tell what thi— oh.” He cut himself off as he realized, the last word a breathy whisper.
“I’m pregnant.”
Steve’s wide eyes flashed up to yours as his fingers curled around your wrists carefully, stumbling over his words, “You… you’re— Wow. We’re having—“
You nodded, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth, slightly unsure of how to take his reaction, “A baby, yeah.”
“Wow,” he breathed out again, but this time a huge smile took over his face. And when his eyes met yours once more, you couldn’t help but to smile, too. It was contagious.
“Yeah,” you replied in the same breathless voice.
In seconds, Steve had practically tackled you to the ground; wrapping you up in a hug, hands cradling the back of your head so you didn’t hit it on the hard floor. You laughed wildly, throwing your arms around him as he smothered your face in kisses, “We’re really having a baby? You’re gonna be a mom?”
“You’re gonna be a dad,” you affirmed, slipping your fingers into his hair gently, twisting a long strand around your finger, “Are… are you happy about it?”
Shifting his position so his knees were on either side of your hips, he shook his head in disbelief, “Holy shit. Baby, am I happy? Are you kidding me? I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.” His fingertips scratched against your scalp gently, leaning down so the tip of his nose brushed yours, “Wait, was this… is this why you were crying? Are you not happy? Because we’ll— we’ll do whatever you want.”
His response caused tears to well in your eyes again and you closed them tightly, shaking your head quickly, “No, no it’s not— I am happy. Just… just really scared. I just started thinking about how the world is so much scarier than it seems, and I th-thought—“ you choked back a sob, moving your hands to cover your face, “thought about if you ended up back in the upside down, and didn’t come back, I-I couldn’t—“
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, sweetheart,” he carefully pried your hands from your face, hands cupping your cheeks, and thumbs swiping out to dry your tears, “Hey, look at me, y/n.” Your eyes flicked to his and you let out a ragged breath. “We’re safe. I’m here. And I promise you, I’m not going anywhere. Even if… even if things came to that again, those kids don’t need me. I’m just the babysitter. I have more important people to take care of now,” his hand settled against your tummy gently, “Okay?”
“Okay,” you whispered, nodding your head. You believed every word he said.
“Okay,” he nodded firmly, pressing a kiss to the corner of your lips. “Take some deep breaths, yeah? You’re breathing for two now.” You wanted to tell him that you weren’t sure that that was how it worked, but he took a deep breath in to get you to do the same, and then gently blew the cool air across your face, causing you to giggle.
After a few deep breaths, your breathing returned to normal, and Steve fell to your side, laying on his back. His arm slid underneath your head as you moved in closer. Reaching over with his other hand, Steve brushed his thumb across both cheeks gently to wipe away the last of your tears. With his lips pressed to your temple, he whispered, “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Staring up at the ceiling with a slightly dazed expression, a smile evident in his voice, he said, “We’re having a baby. Our first little nugget.”
“We’re having a baby.”
“And we’re still laying on the bathroom floor,” he all but giggled, turning his head to look at you, pretty brown eyes sparkling.
Your laugh echoed his as you also turned to look at him, “We most certainly are.”

Birthday
Tumblr media
Summary: Steve says he never had a birthday party, so you give him one, even though it is not his birthday. The gang helps you plan and set up, let’s hope it stays a secret.
Trope: Steve x reader; established relationship
Warning: fluff, kissing, talk of drinking, use of y/n once
Word count: 1.0k
30 Day Challenge: Day 3 Send request <3
You and Steve were shopping for a present for your little cousin when your jaw dropped hearing the words that came out of your boyfriend's mouth, he had never had a birthday party before. “Wait what do you mean” he shrugged “I just never had one my parents would take me to a fancy restaurant with their friends then give me cash” poor baby “I’m so sorry” “Eh it's alright” he said kissing your forehead “I think they will like this one” he said holding up a drawing set.
The drive back to Steve's place was quiet windows down, Duran Duran playing on the radio. But your mind was somewhere else Steve had never had a birthday party, you loved Steve so much and wanted to give him everything, give him the love he lacked from his parents. Even though it was the middle of August, and his birthday wasn’t till April, you didn’t want to wait till April to give him a party so why not celebrate his half birthday? “You ok” Steve said worriedly “Yes why” you answered quickly “Girls on Film was just on and you didn’t scream the lyrics at the top of your lungs” “ I'm fine just thinking” “About” “It's nothing” “If you didn’t sing your favorite song than its not nothing” he challenged “It’s just that you never-” “AH if you are getting worked up on me not having a birthday party before I will.....not sure what but don’t get work up about it ok” “But-” “Sh now let’s go inside there is a couch and a movie calling our names”
The movie didn’t interest you at the moment you were too busy planning in your head Steve’s half birthday party. Where would it be? Who will come? food? drinks? cake? Games? Money wasn’t a problem just like Steve, you lived a wealthy life that is how you met Steve. It was at one of the big fancy parties this time your parents were hosting. You walked outside bored out of your mind when I figure came out from the dark “Bored too” said the figure “Yea not a kid friendly party” you joke. The figure came out from the shadows, and you were met with a handsome young man “You're that Harrington boy right Steven?” “Steve, but yea that’s me” he smiled. From that moment on you and Steve were always together at parties, soon becoming best friends than lovers. He has become one of the most important people in your life, he was so sweet, even though he knew your wealthy status he payed for everything. It was time to spoil him.
After your movie date you went straight home writing down the plans, luckily the weekend you wanted to have it your parents would be gone so the party will be at your house. You would give a call to Robin tomorrow for a guest list most likely being her, the kids he is always with, and probably Nancy and Jonathan maybe that Munson kid. Food, you have a taco man that Steve loves so easy, his favorite snacks, popcorn chips. Drinks he loves his lemonade so many versions of that, water, juice boxes for the kids, maybe alcohol. Cake, he mentions for your graduation party he loves the cake which was chocolate and strawberry from the bakery three towns over. Games? Do you have games at parties for 19-year-old, since it is still summer your pool will be ready, maybe drinking games for later at night.
The next morning you called Robin for the guest list “Y/N his birthday is April” “I know but he never had one before” “Yea ok so” “I want to give him a surprise one” “Ok fine it would be his kids, Eddie, Nancy, Jonathan, Hopper, Joyce and me” “That’s it” you said dumbfounded “Yea he not popular King Steve anymore” right you thought “Do you need any help” Robin asked “Not till the day of the party oh make sure no one tells him” “Gotta girly” “Thank you so much Robin” “anytime” next was taco man he was shocked to hear that it was such small party but gave you the yes that he will be there. The cake was ordered and would be picked up at 2 that day. Everything was going perfectly.
Surprisingly, no one told Steve, Eddie and Dustin almost blurted it out by asking what time that party would be, but Robin caught them in time, but other than that he suspected nothing. It was the morning of the party and the plan was that Dustin was going to have Steve drive him around for a couple of hours while the rest of you set up. You had balloons on the ceiling, drinks in the cooler, taco man out back preparing, snacks on the table, cake in the fridge. Perfect. Dustin radio the kids that they were on the way. Everyone got into a hiding place “Dustin why are we at my girlfriends house- don't just walk in ”“ SURPRISE” Steve jumped back “What” “Happy half-birthday"
The party was so much fun. Steve was having the time of his life in the pool surrounded by the people he loved. The tacos were amazing, he lost count after his 4 plates. no one mentioned it but Steve started to tear up when everyone was singing happy birthday. He loved his cake and was shocked when everyone handed him presents. Overall, he loved his first birthday party. After everyone left the house was clean, you and Steve went up to your room. “Did you like your surprise handsome” “I loved it thank you so much” he said bringing his lips to yours. After putting on pj’s Steve hopped into your bed, opening your blanket for you to hop in. You snuggled into his chest “Can I tell you a secret” he whispered “Yes” you whispered back “I knew about the party” you sat up “How” “Well the kids were talking about it on the walkie in the same channel I'm on and you left your list out” SO CLOSE.

Lessons in Honesty
steve harrington x reader
chapter 1
– other chapters: part 1 ⋆ part 2 ⋆ part 3 ⋆ part 4 ⋆ part 5 ⋆ part 6 ⋆ part 7 ⋆ part 8
– synopsis: Being Robin Buckley’s younger sibling had always been uneventful, up until she got herself tangled with Steve Harrington. And really, you were happy for her. She deserved friends. What was bothersome was when he got let in on small secrets like your infatuation with Eddie Munson, and decided to take it into his own hands to try and get him to pay attention to you-- by pretending to be your boyfriend.
– notes: it has been a long time since i have written fan fiction but here i am!! my dumbass loves a fake-dating plot and i couldn’t resist. i hope to update this pretty regularly, and i post here and under the same username on ao3. i think i’m going to continue to post this as a reader insert and then do an alternative version that’s with an oc (because i can and reader insert series mess with my brain) BUT here’s to hoping y’all enjoy it!!  read here or on ao3  _____________________________
“Stop staring, dweeb.”
The voice cut through a fraction of your brain fog. Not enough to draw your attention away from your current pin-pointed focus, but certainly enough that some semblance of normal thought would have eventually trickled back in. You know, had it not been for the second later when an arm cut across your vision and someone flicked you on the forehead. Patience was never your sister’s virtue.
Still, it did shock you enough out of the stupid little reverie you had fallen into that had been going on for a good five minutes. It was probably better she busted the daydream before someone else caught you and thought you were someone’s lobotomy patient left without supervision.
“Christ, Robin!” You huffed, slapping away her hand as she gave you an indignant look. It was distraction enough that you managed to flick her right back on the forehead right after. Maturity was never your virtue.
“That was a lot harder than I did it,” she argued back, already trying to thwack you once again.
It quickly became a sitting wrestling match as you tried to capture each other’s arms, biting low insults at one another as it went along. You finally managed to yank Robin’s arm down and back to her side, head twisting fast to see if anyone was watching the scuffle. Thankfully not. There was already so much commotion between the football idiots trying to knock soda cans off one another’s heads by throwing a spiral. They probably weren’t even trying to hit the can anymore with how much harder they laughed when the ball slammed into someone’s face instead. I mean— It was kinda funny.
“I sat beside you, and you didn’t even notice me. Do you think that if you stare long enough, it will intimidate Eddie’s clothes into falling off his body?”
The instinctual hand that slapped over her mouth at that moment might have been loud enough to draw some attention if it wasn’t so perfectly timed with the loud smack that came from the football hitting someone in the face again. Divine intervention at its finest.
“You don’t have to say every thought that pops into your head,” you whispered harshly, eyes still nervously darting around just to double-check no one had heard. Your only solace was that you hadn’t decided to sit at a closer table to Eddie, who was far out of earshot halfway across the quad.
“Tell me about it,” offered a new voice from directly behind you. Shock and surprise rolled through your body as if electrocuted, eyes widening as a familiar figure sat opposite you at the picnic table. “The other day, she was complaining about how annoying it is that your mom tells embarrassing stories about you both to company, but then lets it slip in the same sentence that she wet the bed until she was nine.” Robin must have kicked Steve’s shin under the table because he let out an even more dramatic “Ow!” than you thought him capable of.
“What, did they realize they made a mistake in letting you graduate and rescind your diploma?” You asked him, probably a bit more snippy of a greeting than usual, given that you were still red-faced and deflated from Robin’s mental attack.
Robin gave a short snort at how Steve reared his head back an inch, his floppy hair moving with him like its own appendage. “Ignore them. They’re just mad Eddie Munson doesn’t know they exist.”
You always thought choking on water was something only people on television did when they were shocked. Turns out, It was very much an honest reaction and one you could do simply with your own spit. “I hope you trip over your own feet and the doctors have to wire your jaw shut,” you breathed out, covering your heating face with your hands as you tossed your head back, wishing you were anyway else. And by anywhere, you meant that in the truest sense there was. Let the footballers whisk you away and use your face as target practice instead.
“Munson? You like Eddie’ The Freak’ Munson?” Steve sputtered back. You were thankful that he didn’t just laugh in your face instead, like when Robin found out. You still felt the phantom feeling of her spit flying on your face when she did. Then again, maybe laughter wasn’t the worst reaction. When you removed your hands from your face and saw the genuine look of astonishment and confusion cross his features, brows furrowed, head slightly cocked to the side and studying you as if you were the freak, you began to wonder if you’d prefer the slice of a chuckle and not the hammer of a disappointed and alienating stare. “So you’ll joke about me never graduating— which I did, they can’t just take that back— but find that a desirable trait in Eddie? You do realize he was held back for two years.” As if his own words finally hit his ears, he screwed his face up like he smelled something bad. “Jesus, dude is like twenty years old.”
“I never said it was logical, okay?” you huffed back, folding your arms over your chest, then unfolding them, feeling too restless and itchy at the scrutinization your sister and her idiot friend were putting you through. “I know it’s not going to happen—known that since I was a freshman and joined the Hellfire Club. You can both let it go now.”
You’re a Junior now, and Eddie still treats you the same as if you were a wandering lost puppy he pitied and took in. You kind of were back as a freshman. No friends, not really anyone to talk to other than Robin, wandering around aimlessly in the hallways like the least scary ghost there was, given how many people tried to walk through you. You’d prefer outward avoidance to that. Still, things were different now. Maybe your only friends were members of the Hellfire Club, but at least you’d ranked up from lost puppy to social pariah but with a decent backbone. Eddie, however, clearly didn’t see it that way. His nickname of pipsqueak stuck and has followed you since. Sometimes, he shortens it to Pip, which would be fine if half the student population didn’t think that actually was your name. Some didn’t even believe you when you corrected them.
Robin raised her hands up in surrender, which was bullshit if you’ve ever seen it. “Whatever. Look, I’ve got band practice, so you have to walk home by yourself. Tell Mom to remember to leave the leftovers in the fridge this time, okay? I don’t want to accidentally eat a fly like last time because she left my plate out.” She said that with so much ease as she stood up and walked away, acting as if she hadn’t behaved like someone sprinkled rat poison on her tongue when it happened. It was pretty gross, to be fair. Just thinking about it made you mentally gag and reach for a toothbrush.
“I’ll be fine,” you called out, the same time Steve let out a disgusted mangled noise that sounded halfway between a dog trying to get a stuck piece of kibble out of its throat and a baby trying to say their first words. You stood up from the bench and swung your backpack over one shoulder.
Steve’s voice cut off your movement when you began to walk away. “Hey, let me drive you home. Your sister made me come all the way here to drop off her trumpet she left in my car. I’m already acting like a glorified errand boy today.”
You gave a short, breathy laugh, eyebrow raised. “Just today?” You asked teasingly. That got you an eye roll. “I’m good. Robin just acts like this town is more dangerous than it is. I assure you, a walk by myself will not kill me.” She’s had a tendency to hover lately. And by association, so did Steve, though you just assumed it’s because you were hanging out with Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Max lately, and he had that weird sort of older brother/fifth-wheel type relationship with them. You also assumed it had something to do with Nancy. A lot of what Steve did had to do with Nancy.
“Are all you Buckley’s this painfully stubborn? Just get in the damn car,” he fought back with as much patience as your sister had. Which, as stated earlier, is none at all.
“Steve, it’s fine.“ At this point, you were arguing back merely on some screwed-up principle. You might have gotten farther with it had Steve not stalked next to you and yanked your backpack from your shoulder, already walking off towards the parking lot with conceited expectations that you would fall in line and trail behind him.
You did. He had your bag.
At least you managed to snag one last glance at Eddie as you walked past.
“Has anyone ever told you that your bossy?” You muttered under your breath as you stopped at the familiar burgundy brown BMW that your sister had begun to use as her personal taxi. He tossed your bag into the back once he slipped into the driver’s seat, leaning over the center console to push open the passenger door you waited by.
“Has anyone ever told you that you have bad taste in men?” He supplied back, putting the key in the ignition when you slammed the door shut.
“Don’t start,” you said, staring at him heavily annoyed as he pulled out of the parking lot. “I’m not even as bad as you. Everyone sees the way you pine after Nancy.”
His head snapped so fast to look at you that you quickly smacked his arm to remind him to keep his eyes on the road. “Everyone does not— I don’t *pine* after Nancy, okay? I get it. She’s with Jonathan. We’re friends.”
“Friends who want to—”
“Don’t start.”
Alright. Fair.
Still, it was hard to believe the whole friend’s thing, not only because of the looks Steve gave Nancy, but the ones you saw her give him behind his back. Jonathan wasn’t here. He was in California. And whether or not Nancy just gave Steve lingering looks that were remnants of the past, there were moments you wondered if that was just it. Robin surely didn’t. She was pro-Steve and Nancy all the way. You were shocked she hadn’t already made embarrassing T-shirts about it.
“Don’t let Robin pollute your thoughts,” Steve broke the silence, a more quiet seriousness passing over his concentrated face. “She thinks there’s still something there, but there isn’t. Probably because all these dates I’ve been on lately have all gone to shit. I think Nancy even stares at me with pity about it too.” Keeping one hand on the steering wheel, he ran his other in a frustrated motion over his jaw. “It’s annoying. I wish everyone would get off my back about the whole thing.”
“Well, why not just tell them you’re seeing someone? Not like it has to be anyone in Hawkins. Dustin’s got that long-distance girlfriend of his.” It was easy enough to lie about that sort of thing, right?
Steve gave an unamused snort. “Yeah, like Robin will just let that one slide. She’ll see right through it.”
“Then just ask someone to pretend to be your girlfriend for a while. I’m sure plenty of people are lining up just to have a shot with the late, great Steve Harrington, even if it isn’t real,” you joked, though it was true. You’d never really talked to him before he became friends with Robin, but you remembered him from the hallways last year. Heard his name bounce around girl’s lips too often to ignore it.
“Thanks for that,” he muttered in return, hand gripping his steering wheel tightly as he went quiet once more. You shrugged, turning your attention to the window as you watched your neighbourhood come into view. Playgrounds, bright red fire hydrants, trees with tire swings hanging off thick branches. Yeah. Truly a terrifying small town if you ever saw one.
“But maybe you’re on to something.”
Of course, you were on to something. You may be hopeless sometimes, but you were actually pretty clever—
“Why don’t you date me?”
It was a good thing you weren’t the one driving. You would have crashed the car. He would have deserved it.
“You can just drop me off here,” you replied, reaching for the handle, thinking the best option in this scenario was to tuck and roll out of the car. Steve grabbed your wrist before you could. Damn.
“I don’t mean for real, smart ass. But think about it. It would solve my problem, and maybe even yours too.”
You turned back to look at him with a face that read, ‘maybe they should have taken away your diploma, after all.’ “And what problem do you see me facing?”
“Eddie. Eddie’s your problem. You want him to notice you, right? Jerk off’s never been my fan, and it probably annoys the shit out of him that I hang around Henderson and the other idiots. Add you to that equation, mixed in with a guy’s stupid need to have something they can’t have, and he’ll want to be dating you in no time.”
Huh.
“It’s surprising you were never a mathlete in school with logic like that.”
“Can you be serious for a second?” Steve pleaded back at you, turning into your driveway as he did. Even though you were home, you didn’t think getting out of this car was going to be any easier at that moment than it was any earlier.
“I am being serious!” You replied back, a small laugh escaping you at the absolute absurdity. You wouldn’t be shocked if this was just some elaborate prank set up by Robin to pay you back for ruining her favourite sweater a week ago. It was a bit overkill, but you had to appreciate the effort. “You’re the one not being serious. No one would even believe it anyway.”
Steve gave an oddly offended look. “And why wouldn’t anyone believe it? What, you’d never stoop so low?” Jesus, here he was, putting words in your mouth already.
“No,” you said bluntly. “I mean you would never stoop so low. What, the holy ex-basketball player dating his best friend’s little sibling who spends most of their days drawing alone or playing Dungeons and Dragons? Doesn’t exactly scream your type.”
He opened his mouth to argue back, judging by the narrowed look of his brows but decided to drop whatever it was. He deflated with a sigh into his seat, bringing up a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. “I-“ he paused again. “That’s not true, alright? Can you just think about it?”
You chewed the inside of your cheek, studying him and trying to understand why he was being so pushy with it. You could see how his predicament was bothersome. You’ve been on the receiving end of Robin’s persistent nagging countless times. But there was probably more to it than that if you were to bet. If Steve was so willing to sell himself out to try and make Eddie jealous, chances are he was hoping that using you would do the same for Nancy. He could deny it all he wanted, but there was still a hang-up there.
“Fine.” You relented, Steve’s hand immediately dropping from his face as he sat up perfectly straight like an obedient child just being told they could have one treat. You held up your hand to tamper it down. “Fine, I’ll think about it. Don’t get your hopes up.”
Turning back around to grab your backpack, you opened your door and slipped out of the car. Steve leaned over the seat and reached for the handle. You thought he would shut it and just be done with it, but he surprised you by saying, “don’t take too long. You don’t have to play hard to get with me,” with an infuriating smirk.
And then he shut the door in your face.

I'm Used To It
Tumblr media
Steve Harrington x fem reader
Summary: When Y/n’s alcoholic mother comes home things don’t go well after she finds out where she had been. With nowhere else to go Y/n remembers she’s not the only one dealing with this kind of thing and calls Steve to pick them both up for the weekend. Friends to lovers.
Warnings: alcohol abuse, alcoholic parent, divorce, mention of abandonment, swearing, trauma
Word count: 3548
A/N: Most things that I write are based closely on my own experiences and traumas, this way I can write a better and happier ending though. If you go through anything similar please know you are not alone and you are always welcome to message me if you need to talk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Sweetheart, ’m home.” Y/n heard her mother call out from the front door of their trailer but something didn’t seem right.
“Mom?” Y/n came out of her room to find her mom trying to keep herself up. “Where have you been?”
“Ran inta an old friend.” She smiled at her daughter. “We talked for awhile.”
“You went drinking.” Y/n started to get both mad and upset.
“Nooooo.” Her mom shook her head before almost falling over.
“You’re obviously drunk!” Y/n yelled.
“Pssh, you’re being redicu-lish. ‘m not drunk. Haven’t been in yearsh.” She badly lied as she walked over trying to hug Y/n. “Watcha have fur dinner?”
“I didn’t.” Y/n pushed her mom off her. “We had planned to have dinner together, remember? We were going to cook since we were both going to actually be home tonight.”
“Sorry. Wanted to catchup with a friend.” She pouted since her daughter pushed her away and tried acting like she was sober.
“No, you wanted to go drink. How long has it been going on this time?” Y/n started to yell. “Going to rehab three times already wasn’t enough for you to keep sober? Or how about dad leaving us for a girl ten years younger than you when I was fourteen because he didn’t want to deal with you drinking anymore.”
“Really?” Her mom started to yell back. “Really had to go there?”
“Yes, I did.” Y/n walked over to the fridge to find herself dinner since it’s already nine o’clock.
“Whatcha ya doing?”
“Finding myself dinner, duh.” Y/n rolled her eyes.
“Do ya really think ya need more to eat?” That hit a nerve in Y/n.
“Fine.” Y/n slammed the fridge door and stomped to the front door.
“And where do ya think you’re going?” Her mom yelled, stopping her for a second.
“Being like dad and getting the hell away from you.” Y/n yelled with tears brimming her eyes before leaving.
She took a second to breathe trying to figure out what to do. Then she remembered how Max moved to the trailer park after her step dad left and she has a similar situation with her mom. Y/n was the only person Max trusted to tell about what was going on at home. She then decided that’s where she's going to go since it was a Friday night and is sure Max isn’t doing well either.
It only took Y/n a few minutes before she was knocking on the younger girl's front door.
“Y/n?” Max looked at her confused then noticed the tears still threatening to escape. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, just, you know my mom.” Y/n explained then noticed the older redhead passed out on the couch with a bunch of beers scattered around. “It looks like we’re in the same boat actually.”
“Yeah, though I’ve never seen you so upset like this.” Max grabbed her hand pulling her into the trailer and towards her room making sure the doors closed. “What happened tonight?”
“Max, I love you, you’re like my baby sister especially with how similar our lives are.” Y/n had grabbed her hands. “But this is something you don’t need to be burdened with, it’s mine.”
“It’s also not something you need to keep bottled up and deal with alone.” Max squeezed her hands. “Please Y/n/n talk to me.”
Y/n thought about it for a second then felt exactly how hungry she was and decided on something else.
“Have you eaten dinner?” Y/n asked, having noticed there wasn’t much food in the trailer.
Max stayed quiet for a moment before shaking her head. “No, even with two jobs we don’t have much money and most of what we have mom spends on booze.”
“I’m going to call Steve, okay. Tell him what's going on and to pick us up.” Y/n explained grabbing the phone from the bedside table but Max stopped her.
“You can’t.” Max looked at the older girl with pleading eyes. “Please, I told you about all of this in confidence because you understand and I see you as an older sister too. I don’t want anyone else knowing, especially not Lucas, and Steve is too close with him and the others.”
“Max, he’s my best friend and already knows about my situation and he’s never told anyone else.” Y/n explained. “He’s very protective of not just me but also you, he would want to know. Give you a place away from this.”
“He’s protective of you because he’s in love with you.” Max told her which gave Y/n butterflies in her stomach.
“Steve’s not in love with me, we’ve been friends for as long as I can remember.” Y/n said.
“But you’re in love with him.” Max reminded her. “And don’t try to lie, you already admitted it when we played truth or dare with El over the summer.”
“And I told you guys that I don’t plan to ever tell him since I don’t want to ruin our friendship.” Y/n reminded her. “And there’s no way he’s in love with me.”
“Keep telling yourself that Y/n/n.”
“Anyways, I’m calling Steve.” She started dialing his number.
“Hello.” Steve quickly answered.
“Hey, it’s me.”
“Y/n? Everything okay?” Steve perked up. “I thought you were doing a night in with your mom tonight?”
“Yeah, that didn’t exactly happen like it was supposed to.” Y/n let out a long sigh. “She decided instead of dinner with me to get drunk with a friend.”
“Got it, I’m on my way to get you and we’ll pick up pizza on our way home.” Steve said and she could hear him moving around.
“Actually, I’m at Max’s.” Y/n looked at the younger girl. “We’re kind of dealing with the same thing right now.”
“What? Max too?” Steve wasn’t expecting to hear that from his best friend, after meeting Max he couldn’t help but feel protective of her especially with everything from Billy. “Okay, tell her to pack a bag for the weekend, you’re both staying over. You still have some clothes here, and besides you like to sleep in my shirts anyways.”
“Thanks Steve.” Y/n smiled. “And just like my situation, don't tell anyone about Max, especially the boys.”
“Completely understand, I’ll be there in a few minutes to pick you both up, see you soon.” Steve said before hanging up.
Y/n placed the phone back on the nightstand and turned to Max. “Pack a bag for the weekend, you’re staying with us.”
“It’s okay Y/n, I’m fine staying here.” Max shook her head.
“Max, you and I both know I won’t let you stay here with your mom passed out and not enough food to feed you.” Y/n said while standing up and grabbing a bag from the girls closet. “And We both know that Steve will carry you over his shoulder to force you into his car and keep you all weekend to make sure you’re safe and fed. He did that to me when I was fifteen and learned about what was going on with my mom. Though he was more pissed that it was happening since I was eleven and I never told him, that he found out when he snuck over trying to get me to go to a party.”
“You know that’s kidnapping right?” Max laughed a little, taking the bag from Y/n and started packing some things.
“Yeah, I told him that.” Y/n also laughed. “He didn’t give a shit. I’m sure he’s going to feel the same now even if it’s three years later, especially when it's you Max.”
“I’m pretty sure he’s only doing this because he loves you and I’m basically your little sister.” Max scoffed.
“Max, he cares about you very much, I promise he does.” Y/n reassured her. “He still would have done this even if it was just you who called him.”
Just then there was a honk outside and Max looked out the window to see the familiar red BMW.
“That’s Steve.” Max turned back around. “I’ll meet you guys outside in a minute, just gotta put a few things away and leave a note for my mom in case she sobers up at some point this weekend.”
“Okay, don’t be too long.” Y/n kissed the top of her head before making her way through the trailer and out the front door to find Steve leaning against the driver side.
“Hey Y/n/n.” He pushed himself off the car and over to his best friend where he quickly engulfed her in a hug. “How are you doing?”
“The same as I always am when this happens.” She explains. “Her getting upset with me as though she didn’t do anything wrong, me getting mad at her for blowing me off and drinking then her having to say something about me trying to eat dinner.”
“I’m so sorry.” He squeezed her tighter.
“It’s okay Steve, I’m used to it at this point.”
“No it’s not okay Y/n, but we’ll figure it out later, for now let's just get you and Max out of here.” He said before letting her go and realizing the red head wasn’t around. “Speaking of, where is Max?”
“She was finishing packing her bag and writing a note for her mom, just in case.” She explained.
“Is she doing okay?” Steve was very worried. “How long has she been dealing with this?”
“Why don’t you go inside and ask her?” He looked at Y/n confused which made her sigh. “She doesn’t think you care about her, that you’re just doing this for me.”
“What?” Steve was surprised by this. “Of course I care for her, I have ever since I met her, especially after I learned she was Billy’s step sister. Was scared for her and what she had to deal with living with him.”
“Go talk to her.”
Steve nodded his head before walking to the trailer as Y/n got into the passenger seat of his car. Max was finishing up the note to her mom when she heard the door open again.
“Sorry Y/n, almost done.” She looked up only to find Steve and not her sister figure standing in the entryway looking at the horror of where she lived. “Steve?”
“Hey Maxy, you okay?” Steve asked moving over to her using the nickname she okayed the older male and Y/n to use occasionally, but not all the time.
“Yeah, I’m great.” She gave a fake smile to him while folding a piece of paper and writing “mom” on it. “You know how Y/n/n is, overreacts sometimes when it comes to me?”
“Are you sure?” He asked while eyeing the place before moving over to the kitchen and searched the cabinets and fridge to find little to no food. “How long has this been going on?”
“Not long.” She shook her head while refusing eye contact.
“Max.” He moved to her, placing his hands on her shoulders and leaning down to be eye level with her. “How long has this been going on?”
Max took in a deep breath and looked up at him with tears threatening to escape her eyes. “Since my step dad left after Billy’s funeral. Mom took on two jobs and started drinking a lot more.”
“That long?” He rubbed his forehead before moving his hand through his hair. “How often is she drinking?”
“Every night, until she’s passed out.” Max looked over at her mom asleep on the couch.
“And where’s all the food?” He asked.
“She hasn’t gone to the store in over two week, keeps saying that she doesn’t have a lot of money right now to go but then comes home with more beer.” She finally started to cry and Steve quickly wrapped his arms around her to let her cry into his chest.
“I’m so sorry Max.” He whispered so that only she could hear, even though she was the only one there besides her passed out mother.
“It’s okay Steve, I’m used to it.” Saying the same thing Y/n tells him.
“No Maxy, it’s not okay. Y/n tells me the same thing in this situation but it’s not okay.” He then pulls away and crouches down with his hands on her shoulders again. “Please know that I care about you, very much, and if you ever need to talk or need a place to stay to get away from your mom or even just need a meal please, please call me.”
“I will.” She nodded as she wiped the tears off her cheeks. “Thank you Steve.”
“Anytime kid.” He smiled and stood up grabbing her bag off the counter. “Now let's go have an awesome weekend.”
“This never gets spoken about.” Max said as they walked through the trailer. “Especially not too…”
“Yeah, yeah. Especially not to the guys.” Steve interrupted her. “I would never tell anyone about this without your permission.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The three of them drove to one of the few pizza places still open ordering a large before going back to Steves where they sat and ate and just talked while trying to keep the mood light.
“Wait seriously, Erica told you that about Lucas?” Y/n laughed at what Max had just told them.
“How do we know it’s not just Erica trying to embarrass her brother?” Steve asked but was still smiling.
“Have you met Erica?” Y/n raised a brow at him. “She would never tell a lie like this, but embarrassing her brother just makes it better.”
“You can’t tell Lucas about this though. He doesn’t even know that I know.” Max explained.
“Our lips are sealed.” Y/n and Steve say at the same time making all of them laugh.
“Well, I think I’m going to turn in for the night.” Y/n stood up, grabbing all of the plates off the table and the pizza box.
“It is getting late.” Steve said while looking at his watch then followed his best friend into the kitchen where he took over doing the dishes from her.
“Max, I’ll show you to the guest bedroom.” Y/n said, grabbing the girl's bag.
“Thank you again for letting me stay here.” Max said to Steve.
“Anytime kiddo.” He smiled. “I’ll follow you guys up in a few minutes.”
As Max followed Y/n she noticed one room to the right of the stairs that must be Steve’s parents room then followed her passed one which must be Steve’s, then passed the bathroom and into the one next to it.
“Do you normally sleep in here?” Max asked moving to the bed where Y/n placed her bag.
“No, I usually sleep in Steve's bed.” She explained until she noticed the look Max was giving her. “Don’t look at me like, we’ve been doing this since we were kids okay.”
“Whatever you say.” Max smiled.
“I’m going to go change real quick, then I’ll be back.” Y/n told her before leaving.
Y/n grabbed one of Steve's old Hawkins High swim team shirts and a pair of black pajama shorts she’s left one of the last times she spent the night. She came back into the guest room to see Max in a long sleeved nightgown sitting cross legged on the bed with some comic books.
“Wonder Women, nice.” Y/n picked one of the comic books up before sitting across from her.
“I didn’t know you were on the swim team?” Max looked at her shirt.
“I’m not.” Y/n looked down, flipping through the pages.
“Is that Steve’s shirt?” Max gawked before giggling a bit. “Are you sure you two aren’t already dating?”
“Shut up.” Y/n laughed a little before putting the book down and looking at the younger girl. “How are you doing Maxy?”
“I’m fine.” Max refused to look at her.
“Really?” Y/n eyed her. “Please talk to me. Lucas told us about how you guys broke up.”
“I have nightmares sometimes about that night at the mall.” Max started to explain. “And you know, my mom doesn’t really help, but it’s fine.”
“You know I told you that you could come over whenever you needed.” Y/n placed a hand on the red head's shoulder. “You should have told me that you didn’t have food for dinners and stuff.”
Max shrugged her shoulders before sighing. “It’s just, you have your own shit to deal with, you have your own alcoholic obviously.”
“Yes I do, but I also don’t deal with it every night.” She paused for a second. “Well at least not in a while. It just depends on if it's a one time slip up or a long ‘slip up’. But anyways, you know I’m always here and so is Steve.”
“I’m getting used to it Y/n/n, it’s okay.”
“Yeah, you don’t get to use my line against me.” Y/n laughed a little. “But seriously, please call us.”
“I will. Thank you.” Max smiled at her before they hugged each other.
“How are you two girls doing?” Steve knocked on the doorframe wearing flannel pajama pants and an old tshirt and watched as they let go of their hug.
Max looked at Y/n for a second before turning to Steve with a smile. “We’re good.”
“That’s good.” Steve smiled back. “I’m really sorry you guys have to go through this.”
The two girls looked at each other with a smirk before saying at the same time “We’re used to it.”
“Very funny.” Steve rolled his eyes. “Why don’t we go to bed Y/n/n.”
The older girl nodded her head and stood up moving over to Max and kissed her on the head. “Night Maxy.”
“Night Y/n/n.”
“Good night kiddo.” Steve moved and ruffled her hair after Y/n left the room.
“You know she loves you right?” Max said before he could leave.
“What?”
“Y/n. She loves you.” Max said again. “I know you love her too with how you look at her, we all know it.”
“Of course I love her, she’s my best friend.” Steve tried to play it off.
“Steve, you’re in love with her.” Max corrected, making him sigh.
“What am I supposed to do? I don’t want to ruin our friendship.” He brushed his hand through his hair.
“Just tell her. I promise you won’t ruin your friendship.” She reassured him.
“Fine.” He closed her eyes before looking at her again. “I’ll do it if you promise to call whenever you need something.”
Max thought it over for a second before nodding her head. “Deal. Good night Steve.”
“Good night.”
Steve turned off the lights in the room before going back to his to find Y/n already laying in bed.
“Everything okay?” She asked while sitting up when she noticed him.
“Yeah.” Steve nodded his head as he took his shirt off since he likes to sleep without one. “She just wanted to tell me something.”
“What’d she say?”
“It’s nothing.” He lied as he started to get in bed.
“Steve.”
“Do you remember when I punched that guy at the last party of the school year last year?” He asked, confusing her.
“Yeah, the blonde baseball player who was flirting with me.” She nodded her head. “Why are you bringing that up right now?”
“Do you know why I punched him?”
“You had said that you had heard him talk shit to some of the guys making a bet that he could get in my pants in less than five minutes.” She explained. “You were being your protective self as usual.”
“Well I lied.” He sighed.
“What?”
“I never heard him make a bet.” Steve confeased.
“Then why did you punch him?” She was really confused now.
Steve looked over and pushed some hair behind her ear. “I was jealous.”
“What would you be jealous about?” She giggled a little.
“I was jealous because I hated seeing some guy flirt with you.” He said while placing a hand on her cheek. “Because I’m in love with you.”
“Really?” Y/n couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her best friend, Steve “the hair” Harrington, is in love with her.
“Really. You don’t have to say it back or an…”
He didn’t get to finish his sentence though as Y/n leaned up and kissed him. He was shocked at first but quickly composed himself and kissed her back. It was a soft kiss but he could feel all of her emotions in it and she could feel his.
They soon pulled apart needing to breathe but looked deep into each other's eyes.
“I love you too.” Y/n finally said, making him smile before he pulled her back into another kiss.
“Well finally.” A voice from the door caused them to stop everything and turn towards the culprit to find Max with the biggest smile. “I’m radioing everyone.”
Max left, leaving the two alone again as they smiled at each other before going back to what they were doing before being interrupted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Sorry if this was badly written, had to take a few breaks while writing it so as to not cry because I’ve gone through the same things both Y/n and Max go through from when I was 11 until I was 20. Though I wasn’t lucky enough to have a Steve in my life until I was 17 who had an alcoholic father and understood what I was going through and gave me an out whenever I needed it.
cw- not rly proof read, barely mentions of fighting (demo dog), enimies to lovers, uhhhhh i dont think anything else tbh.
summary - robin is unsure if her enemy likes her back or not untill she makes a bold move.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“did you see her hair when the hair tie fell out?!” robin continued to daze to steve doing her eyeliner in the passenger seat of steves car.
“robin-”
she cut his speaking off and put her hand down from her face for a minute to look at steve. “now yes steve i now it wasent exactly the best time to find something attractive but..that was attractive!” she looked at him with a “duh!” face almost saying ‘i mean you like girls! you gotta admit, that was hot!’ without actually saying that.
what robin was currently talking ab was when you were fighting a demo dog, swinging around so much your hair tie fell out of your hair, letting strands stick to the sweat on your face and some still loose from behind you. so yeah. not really the best moment to be crushing but oh well what can you do right?
“i think i should ask her out.” robin bluntly started.
“are you sure you want to do that?” steve asked hoping robin would think about this but instead she immediately replied with a strong ‘yes’
“ok but listen i can think of atleast two reasons why you shouldnt do that!”
“oh reaally mr. lady puller? you want her that bad?” robin teased seriously and rolled her eyes.
once steve pulls into a spot in the school parking lot he turns in his seat to look at his (quite frankly only) friend and smacks her hand causing her to drop her eyeliner.
“hey!” robin went to unnecessarily banter.
 “no robin ok listen! for one we dont even know if she likes woman and two she hates you!” steve yells mater of a factly.
“yeah well one can be solved by me asking her out doofus. and two shell know i dont hate her once i ask her out. so really! asking her out will clear everything up!” robin states mater of a factly.
not wanting to be late to class for once steve gives up.
                                                time skip bc i suck
Tumblr media
“hi” robin cheekishly said to you.
“hi?” you said back in a undertone.
“uh- are- are you hurt to bad from yesterday?”
“no. not really... it just kinda sucks that i have to like- hide from everyone you know?”
“oh trust me i know.” as robin was talking she saw you open a mini cupcake.
“oh my god! y/n!” she randomly shouted.
“oh my god! robin!” you copy sarcastically.
“i just saw you open the cupcake, duh, im right here of course im gonna see you open it but it reminded me that i made a cake yesterday its like red velvet with chocolate icing that i might add also made myself it took me so long and i was scared like so scared that i was goint to like explode something but guess what? i didnt!”
as she kept rambling you slowly smiled remembered something steve told you.
“when robin likes someone she can not stop talking. like she starts talking non stop and really fast.”
“robin.” you cut her off
“yes?” she quickly replied.
“do you like me?”
“yes. no! maybe? i dont now how do you feel about me?”
“how i feel about you is if you were to say you like me.. i wouldnt say i didnt like you too.”
“well then yeah. i do like you. y/n”
“i like you too robin.”
“i like your smile.”
one thing being said right after the other untill robin started ramling again. but this time you decided to cut her off.
“will you be my girl friend?”
robin just stared at you in shock making random hand movements sometimes making some stuttering noises.
“robin?” you say in a sing songingly voice.
“uh- yes? yes! i will be your girlfriend!”
the moment was cut when steve came up behind robin.
“aha! yes! she likes you! thank you for not listening to me!”
Sleepover
Summary: Steve Harrington/ftm Reader; reader gets dragged into a sleepover
”So it’s settled then.”
“What is?” You look up from the history book you’d been skimming.
“We’re having a sleep over at Eddie’s.”
“A sleepover?”
“Yeah like where we all get together and hang out and play dumb truth or dare questions, you know that sort of thing.”
“I know what they are but like I didn’t think you’d all be into that.”
“Come on, we have to, this is the first new guy we have, we have to get each other’s deep dark secrets out to each other, and what better way than staying up till like three am eating pizza and watching horrible movies.”
“Back to the Future is-”
“A nightmare. Thank you for your input Steve but not now.” You grin as his face flushes a little, you’re worried you’ve embarrassed him but it doesn’t seem like it at all which you’re relieved at.
”That’s Nancy and Robin.”
“Wait, they can come over?”
“Well duh, I mean Robin lives loose enough and then like Nancy is gonna miss an excuse to do a makeover on me and Steve, she’s gotten really good at make-up, you know that like super over the top neon coloured shit?”
“Oh Y/N good you’re here, I got you a present.”
“A present?”
“Mhh,” Robin thrusts the box into your hands and you turn it over, about to cut the tape but she places her hand over yours.
“No, upstairs, or tomorrow…” She offers and you tilt your head, ripping the paper off once you get upstairs.
“A new binder?”
“Yeah Eddie said your mom threw out your old one, so I thought I could get you a couple, you can keep them here or something, besides they look more like actual tank tops now, a little harder to spot.” She grins and you nod a little speechless at how kind she is.
“My gift is better.”
“Your gift?”
“Uhh yeah, it’s kinda a joke one, but you can actually use it.” You open the hastily wrapped bag, proclaiming happy fifth birthday on the side, you laugh at it a little but gasp when you see the packer sitting in the tissue paper.
“Wow this is so cool.”
“Wait dude why’d you get him a-” Eddie trails off and you laugh.
“No it’s not what you’re thinking, I just shove it in my pants instead of socks.”
“Wait, you shove socks in… OH it’s so you have a dick!! Wait why don’t other guys use this, make people think they have massive dicks… it’s like a push-up bra right, but for your penis.”
“Oh my god Eddie that’s…”
“I mean he’s kinda right.” You laugh and nod, tucking the packer next to the binder in your overnight bag.
”So the investigation…”
“The whole thing with El and her friends right?” You tilt your head and Steve nods.
“Yeah have you seen what’s happening, first the fire and then-”
“No, I have no clue where or what any of that is.”
“Let go.” Steve winks at you and pulls you up as he offers his hand.
It’s a little cold out but you don’t mind following Steve as he walks with you towards the edge of the trailer park for some privacy.
“So who do you like more, Robin or Chrissy?”
“What?”
“Usually everyone has the hots for one of them, or maybe you’re into Nancy?”
“Usually?” You tilt your head and Steve shrugs.
“Yeah most guys either want Chrissy, the girl next door or Robin, the mysterious girl.” He holds his hands up tilting them like scales tipping.
“Well I prefer guys so…” You shrug a little at his hands. And he grins.
“ I think Eddie is  going to lose it soon, having to watch Chrissy with Jason.”
“And you?”
“Well I just;I like guys, I’m picking neither.”
“Well yeah but do you have a guy in your sights?”
“I’m a little busy not trying to lose my family.” You cringe a little but Steve laughs and assures you he knows you meant no harm.
“We should get back, I’m sure we’re missing Eddie getting some horrible neon green make-up on him right now.”
Chapter One: In the Air Tonight
No one ever left Hawkins, Indiana. You grew up, got a job, moved out of your parents’ place, and started a family. Repeat. Everyone knew everyone. In fact, everyone knew who Joyce Byers was before the Byers kid had disappeared. Everyone was connected. She had even gone to high school with the mother of her son’s bullies. Everyone knew each other. Joyce had followed in the footsteps set by those who walked before her; she grew up, moved out, and started a family. Her sister, who she considered to be her best friend growing up, had moved away to Ohio. Which seemed years away and eventually turned into just that; contact between the two become more distant. Phone calls had become shorter and distant until they hadn’t heard from each other in months and, eventually, years.
Until her sister became very sick and Joyce visited tried to visit every other weekend or her days off from work. Sometimes the boys came along but she never forced them; the task being daunting on the single mother herself. As his aunt grew sicker, Will found himself struggling to come to terms with her sickly disease and honestly seeing her in such bad shape made him anxious and nauseous. So he stayed home, either with Jonathon, who sometimes couldn’t stomach the situation either, or stayed with the Wheelers for the weekend. As her days became numbered conversations became very serious. She didn’t have much to offer but she’d give Joyce everything if she took good care of her only child, her daughter. Joyce, with tears in her eyes, promised to treat her niece like her own.
1984.
Christy Matthews lost her mother on a blistering hot summer day and despite the sun blaring on her during her mother's service, her skin felt ice cold as her aunt Joyce wrapped her in an embrace. It was meant to bring comfort to the teen but it only left her sobbing into her aunt's shoulder as Joyce rubbed circles in her back. Though she had just lost her sister; Joyce had to remain strong for her family. For her niece who had just lost her mother and for her boys who had lost their only aunt. "It's okay to cry," her youngest says, tears in his eyes as well. Her heart sank for her boy who had been through so much; something they had decided to keep from her niece since they were no longer in danger. She let herself cry, to feel, for her son. For her loss. For their loss and everything they had all been through. The four cried and held each other together as dirt was thrown on the lowered casket.
Joyce let Will stay with Christy in Ohio as she packed the rest of her belongings to take back to Hawkins while her and Jonathan made the drive back to Indiana. The house was already sold and the next day would be her final day in the house she had grown up in. There were so many emotions Christy was feeling at once; grief, terror, uncertainty. She was terrified for what the future held but she was so thankful for her family and the support they had been showing her through this hard time. It wasn't her hard time; all of them were affected by her mother's passing and it would be selfish of her to think any different. She had lost her mother but her aunt had lost her sister and the pain the two were feeling must be so different but the same.
Will wished Christy had been around more growing up; she was fun and she didn't judge him when he told her how he felt. During summer vacation after her mom got sick Christy would stay with the Byers; her mom being watched over by an in home nurse they hired during the summer. It was her mother's way of letting Christy have her freedom and not have to fuss over her while worrying about school. Though her mom never told her; Christy knew she had felt guilty for getting sick and Christy giving up her life to take care of her. It wasn't her fault and the teenager so badly wanted her mother to know that; it was never her fault.
The two stayed up and made up stories about fairies and an evil dragon that gets defeated by the fairy that got casted out by the other fairies for not being strong or brave enough. Of course, he didn't do it alone, oh no, he had help from a handsome knight with a noble stead. Will pretended to yawn when it came to the part where the fairy lifted the knight's helmet to see the face of the brave man that had helped him. Christy rolled her eyes at her young cousin but cut her story short anyways. He was probably right; they had a long drive ahead of them.
~
The drive wasn't entirely dreadful when you had a great DJ as your passenger; Christy had cassettes upon cassettes and Will managed to choose the best of the best to fill up the travel time. They sang loudly to Genesis, their self titled album she had just received for her birthday months ago, and Will occasionally looked over the map Christy had given him for the trip. Christy almost knew the way by memory but needed some refreshing at some points of their trip. The trip wasn't long; only about four and a half hours. But both of them were ready to stretch their legs by the time they got to the Byer's residence. They had tried to leave Ohio at a reasonable hour but the two had slept till noon and had made it to Hawkins around five, after stopping a few times for food and restroom breaks.
The two were greeted by a grinning Joyce who was happy to see the two had made it safely and she was totally not worrying the entire time the two had been out of her motherly sight. Before her sister's passing, Joyce had gotten everything in order, she adopted Christy and she would be starting Hawkins High, joining Jonathan in the fall. With Christy now staying in the Byer home, Will and Jonathan became roommates to make way for their cousin to have her own space. The teen was more grateful than her family would ever know for accepting her into their home. "The boys have been waiting," Joyce told her youngest once she had met him at the passenger side of the car, she placed a kiss on top of her son's head and quickly moved to the trunk to help Christy with her boxes.
Most of her items had been already packed and shipped to Hawkins through a moving company Joyce had hired but a few of her last minute things she had packed in her car and had made the journey with her. Christy had yet to exit the car despite Will already had and her aunt opening her trunk, she needed a moment to collect herself. To come to terms with the fact this was her new home and she would never see the home she had spent seventeen years growing up in. She took a deep breath then slowly let it out; letting her body relax. She placed her  pointer finger to lips and then to her mother's necklace wrapped around her rear view mirror. She was finally prepared to start her life in Hawkins and prepared to be ambushed by Will's friend who hadn't seen her since last summer. Unbeknownst to her, a lot had happened to the group between then and now.
summer, 1983
Christy was in the passenger side of her aunt Joyce’s car, the radio was at a reasonable volume. It had been two years since her mother had gotten sick and this was the first summer with the Byers since then, she had gotten to know her aunt and cousins when they came to visit her mom and her in Ohio. Christy was very grateful for the visits; she spent most of her time caring care of her mom and the visitors took weight of her responsibities off her shoulders even if it was for a short period of time. Plus, having your mom as your only friend was totally lame and the added company was nice.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t get out of working,” Joyce steals a glance at her niece, hands gripping tightly to the wheel. “But I’m gonna make sure you have everything you need. Everything is in driving or biking distance. I know your car is in Ohio but I’m sure Jonathon will let you borrow his. I think he still has his bike unless we gave it to Goodwill.”
“Thank you, Aunt Joyce,” Christy smiled. She was excited to see where the Byers lived, knowing it was going to be her home someday. She had already accepted that her mother was never going to get better. “For everything.”
That summer she had spent playing D&D with her cousin at the Wheeler house, borrowing Jonathon’s car on occasion just in case there was a good movie showing or just to get out of the house and go into town. The party showed her around town; either biking or all of them piled into Jonathon’s car. ‘Heat of the Moment’ was blasting on the radio as she drove the kids into town, all of them singing horribly along.
“I got the album that’s going to change your life,” Christy smiles, taking a hand off the steering wheel and pointing to the cassette she had entrusted with Will. “Put it in.” This album had changed her life and she was about to change the lives of the four boys sitting in that car. “Chills. That’s all I can say.”
Soon enough, Face Value by Phil Collins was blasting through the speakers of the car. “I’m going to school you guys in cool music, ‘kay? Can’t have you listening to garbage like a bunch of dweebs.” She looked at the three boys sitting in the backseat from the rearview mirror. “We may be dweebs but at least we have good music taste.”
“You said 'we',” Dustin said from the backseat. “That means you’re including yourself and, therefore, grouping us together-”
“Yeah, I’m a dweeb,” Christy rolled her eyes. “Now shut your trap before I take it back.” She didn’t mean it though, she enjoyed their company far too much. She smiled to show she was joking, which caused the boys around her to smile and quickly burst into laughter.
The whole party was rushing behind Joyce to see their friend and, arguably more interesting, his cousin. They argued and talked over each other; arguing about who would carry what and how Christy didn't have braces anymore but she still had her thick rimmed glasses. The older teen never considered herself cool and actually enjoyed hanging out with her younger cousin and his friends which was why the party liked her so much. She treated them like equals because she believed they were. "Christy!" Dustin said loudly despite closing the distance between the two in an embrace. "We've missed you!"
"I missed you the most," Lucas blurted out. He instantly regretted his lack of thinking and turned away to hide his embarrassment. Back last summer, even when Christy had braces, Lucas couldn't stop talking about his friend's cousin. It was obvious to the group, and Christy, that Lucas was harboring a crush on the older teen. Christy thought it was adorable and treated all the boys like they were younger brother but Will thought it was gross. "I mean, you're the best healer," he tried to recover.
"I miss the cool indoors, let's grab a box and go!" Christy joked, trying to take some of the embarrassment off of Lucas's little outburst. Joyce laughed, grabbed a box, and lead the way back towards the house. All the boys and Christy grabbed a box and followed behind, Christy closing her trunk behind her. Will walked beside her older cousin while the rest of the group walked ahead of them. "I'm glad you're living with us," Will said softly so his friends wouldn't hear. "I really missed you." A trace of a smile was on his lips but it wasn't quite there. "I'm sorry about Aunt Frankie." He didn't look at her, just kept his sight in front of him as he walked. "Losing a parent sucks."
Christy vaguely knew about the abuse that her aunt had suffered through the hands of her cousins' father and she was glad that he was long gone and out of the picture. "We win some, we lose some, I guess," Christy offered once they were in the cool room of the Byers' living room. "We go on living for those who are longer here, we have to. The only way to go is forward." The other three boys had caught the end of their conversation and a sorrowful mood had filled the room.
"El," Mike whispered. He was looking forward, focusing on nothing, not looking at anyone around him.
"Who's El?" Christy questioned, earning looks from the whole party, like they were questioning whether they could trust her or not. Tell her the secret they were obviously keeping, she just wasn't sure what the boys weren't telling her. They stared at her, none of them saying anything. "Come on guys," Christy laughed awkwardly. "You gotta lighten up, you're one redhead away from looking like the Children of the Corn."
can we get a fic where r is a nurse or med student and she just had a terrible terrible day at work and steve just comforts her? ly <3
i know nothing about the medical world so forgive me. kinda basing this from a breakdown i had after orientation for my job then texting a friend for some help.
masterlist
silence. peace and quiet after a twenty-four hour on call shift. no beeping monitors, no patients getting angry with you, no messes to clean up; just you sitting in your car letting your brain melt. and then the tears started to sting, face pinching to withhold yourself but letting the floodgates free. your breathing was labored and your head was getting fuzzy, you hoped no one was a witness to your breakdown.
fingers death gripping onto your leather steering wheel, head falling forward and almost hitting your horn. you squeezed your eyes shut, trying to take deep slow breaths, needing to steady yourself before making the thirty minute drive back to your apartment where steve was waiting for you.
steve. with his name popping into your head you reached into your bag, pulling your phone and flipping it open then pressing one to speed dial the landline. the dial tone rang twice and then you heard his voice.
“harrington residence.” just those two words from your husband lifted your sorrows for a moment, allowing you to calmly speak into the receiver. “hi honey.” a sigh of relief before a wet hiccup followed.
you could hear the concern when steve asked, “hey, you off? need me to pick you up?” already knowing you had your car with you, but also knowing you would be exhausted to drive.
you shook your head even though it wasn’t seen, “no, no. just… just wanted to see if you needed anything?” closing your eyes as the welling tears continued. “want something for lunch? was gonna stop by-“
“it’s fine, honey. i already cooked something for you. just get home safe. i love you.” and he didn’t hang up right away, waiting for you to respond back. a croaked “i love you,” then quick to press the end call button. you took deep calming breaths, five in five out, before starting the engine and cutting the radio off.
you kept to the speed limit, sometimes going three over or even five under causing people to honk and speed past you. you didn’t have the energy to care about their pissed stares, just counting the stop lights until you hit your block, rolling into the complex then pulling into your parking spot.
your bones felt like liquid as you gathered your bags and drinks, locking your car then heading up the one flight of stairs. a quick left then past three doors and you stood outside yours, number 736, a lovely floral reef circled the peep hole.
with a heavy hand you slid your key into the lock, turned the knob and was greeted to the warm lighting and laugh track blaring from the tv. the lingering smell of mac and cheese with some baked chicken and steamed veggies caused your stomach to gargle.
“hey pretty.” steve’s smooth voice slid into the hallway with you, his hands reaching out to take your load off your shoulders.
he made sure to keep your belonging organized and hang your coat on the rack. he knelt to the floor and helped tug your sneakers off your aching feet before ushering your further into the apartment to the couch.
reruns of your favorite sitcom light the room as steve leaned in to press a tender kiss on your left temple, eyes closing in contentment. “i’ll be back with our food.”
steve was gone less than five minutes and you could feel your eyes growing heavy as each second passed, head lulling to rest on the back of your couch. you smiled and chuckled low at a joke you already knew, but it still tickled you pink.
“kept it in the oven to stay warm. hope it taste good, i followed the recipe for the mac and chicken, but you know me.” steve set the two plates on the small table covering your feet. “how’s my girl doing?”
he rested a palm to your left thigh and rubbed over your scrubs comfortably. you took a deep inhale before sighing out, “draining.” the one word sufficient in summarizing everything.
steve hummed, “sorry. but luckily you’re taking the next two days off. how about we just rot in bed for one day and then be slightly adults the next day. how’s that sound?” his browns eyes darkened and shaded with the flickering light.
leaning your head onto his right shoulder and fighting sleep you yawned out, “sounds perfect.” the laugh track and commercials becoming your white noise.
Can’t Fight This Feeling
Tumblr media
-18-
We ran out of the movie theatre hunched over to try and not alert Robin and Erica who were still sitting in seats on the opposite side of our row.
As soon as we were out of the theatre Steve and I laughed until we almost couldn't breath. I placed my hand over my chest and bent forward in fits of laughter.
I stood back up and saw Steve leaning against a wall with his eyes closed mid laugh.
I stopped laughing and looked at him. My crush on him had evolved into more than it was in elementary school. I...I really liked Steve. And it was almost soul crushing because I knew that it would never happen.
But in the same breath it felt different between us. I could feel that even in the weird state we were in after being injected. We've defended each other, been stuck in a Russian under ground lair together, held hands, shared looks.
Maybe there was something there, maybe there wasn't. Maybe I'd find out, maybe I wouldn't.
"Lou?" I heard him ask.
I refocsued on his face and smiled, "Steve?"
He grinned at me, "Water time!"
I nodded enthusiastically and followed him to the water fountain, where he motioned for me to go first.
I walked up to the fountain and pressed the button, smiling when the stream of water came up. I bent down and the second my lips touched the cold water and went down my throat, I could feel how dry my throat actually was. It almost became painful as I continued drinking because of how long I went without it.
I pulled back and motioned for Steve to have some, which he did without hesitation.
I leaned against the wall and looked around the empty area.
"I want to watch the movie when I can focus on it," I stated.
Steve make a noise in agreement as he continued with the water.
"I really have no idea what was happening in it," he said breathlessly.
I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, "He went back in time...in the car I'm pretty sure."
"So he went back in time?" Steve asked.
I opened my eyes and looked over to him, seeing him still bent over the water fountain but his head turned to me.
"Yeah-I mean, I'm pretty sure," I told him.
He furrowed his brow, confused, "But it's called Back to the Future?"
I widened my eyes and nodded, "This is why I need to see this again without whatever they injected into us."
He nodded, agreeing with me, "Do you want more?" he asked, referencing the fountain.
I nodded and walked quickly over to the fountain, Steve stepped aside and I continued drinking more.
"Wow," I heard him say, "Lou, come look at this!"
I stopped drinking and went over to him, stopping right beside him, "Check this out," he said lightly, "this ceiling is...is beautiful."
I looked up to it and saw the twinkling lights and and glass windows showing off the night sky, it was very pretty.
"Wow," I whispered with a small smile.
The lights began moving, so I started turning in a circle trying to keep up with them. I giggled and continued spinning slowly watching the lights dancing.
And then...oh shit. The wave of nausea that hit was instantaneous.
I stopped spinning and tried to clear my throat.  Saliva filled my mouth and my stomach turned. I felt myself swaying in place.
"Bathroom," I heard Steve croak out.
I looked over to him and saw his pale complexion and knew he was feeling the same way I was.
Not trusting myself to open my mouth, I nodded to him. He took off and I followed him down towards the door marked 'Restrooms,' where he pushed the door open roughly. We ran down the small hallway where we finally got to a bathroom and Steve opened the door leading to a bright room with multi coloured tiles on the walls. Most importantly, I saw the bathroom stalls.
Steve ran to the second stall and I ran into the first one, I fell to my knees in front of the toilet and let everything come up. Not that there was much in my system, but whatever was in there was coming up.
My throat and nose were burning, and I was kneeling there for at least five minutes, where all I did was vomit.
Finally, there was nothing else left. I flushed the toilet immediately and leaned my head back, away from the toilet and tried to catch my breath. My mouth tasted terrible and I was in dire need of gum or something.
I heard the toilet flush in the stall Steve was occupying. I coughed a few times and scooted back to lean against the wall, opposite of the stall.
I felt better. I think I had gotten most of, if not all, of the drug out of my system. I still felt a bit foggy and dizzy but I wasn't sure if that was from the puking or from the drug. All I knew for sure was that I felt drained. But I definitely wasn't feeling as dopey as I had been before.
I heard Steve groan from the next stall.
"You okay?" I asked quietly.
"I've honestly been better," he sighed.
I looked up, and felt relief when I saw the ceiling was no longer spinning the way it was out in the hallway.
"The ceiling stopped spinning for me...is it still spinning for you?" I asked.
"Holy shit," he said after a second of silence, "no. Do you think we puked it all up?"
I hummed, "I don't know, ask me something. Interrogate me."
He chucked from the other stall, "Interrogate you...when was the last time you peed your pants?"
I grinned, "Almost today," I told him honestly, "when the guy brought out the saw," I explained through a laugh, "I was terrified."
Steve laughed too, "Seriously?"
I laughed with him, "Almost!" I repeated.
"Yeah it's definitely still in our system," he mumbeled from the other side.
I leaned my head against the wall. My heart was thudding against my chest. I wanted to hear the honest answer to the question that was on the tip of my tongue.
"My turn!" I said breathlessly, "Have you ever been in love?" I wondered.
I sensed the hesitation on his end only for a second, "Yeah," he answered slowly, "Nancy Wheeler first semester senior year," he said, then made the sound of a gun shot.
I nodded, "Nancy's nice," I mused, "I've known her forever because Dustin is friends with Mike...and obviously because of her and Jonathan..."
"Yeah," he said quietly, "Nancy is...she's a good person."
I bit my lip, "Are you still in love with Nancy?" I asked quietly.
"No," he said instantly.
I leaned my head against the wall, "Why not?"
He sighed, "I think I found someone better for me," he told me.
I smiled sadly, "That's good, Steve."
"Yeah...Dustin's been telling me since he got back from camp that I gotta find my Suzie...and this girl...I dont know, she might be my Suzie," he said with certainty.
I felt my face flush. Part of me was hoping he was talking about me. The other part, the more rational part, knew that there was a chance we wasn't. This crush had been growing and festering in me since elementary school, but simmered in high school. The last little while I was having a bit of a...Steve Harrington renaissance. I was feeling something, a real something, for him.
The crush felt unattainable back then. Like I knew he wouldn't be interested in me, because he didn't associate with me. But now with it bubbling back up, and with the shit we'd been through the past few days...I thought we were close.
But hearing him talking about someone who might be his Suzie...that was a lot for me to take in. I was worried I would have to burst the bubble as soon as this was all over.
"What's she like?" I asked, as unwanted tears filled my eyes.
"She amazing," he said breathlessly, "and I just wish...that I had been hanging around her instead, during high school. I dunno, I guess I would've been worried about Tommy H making fun of me or something, or being worried that I wouldn't be Prom King," he said with a hint of disgust.
"Dustin's right though, all that stuff is just a bunch of bullshit," he sighed, "I should have been hanging around her the whole time," he stated adamant, "but I was just too stupid to look around, too stupid to see her.
"She's so funny," he continued happily, "I don't remember the last time I've laughed as much as I have with her. And man...she's smart, like, way smarter than me. She managed to help crack a Russian code and figure out the meaning behind it..."
I felt my eyes widen and my heart stop for a second.
Robin. Did he...like Robin? I wouldn't know how to talk to him about this if he was going to tell me he liked Robin. It wasn't my place to tell him he wasn't the gender she was even interested in. I would never do that to her.
"She sounds really great, Steve," I told him as I brought my knees up and leaned my head on them.
"Lou..." he began quietly, "I really am sorry for the way I acted to you in high school," Steve emotionally told me from the other stall.
I brought my head up and wiped away the tears that I so badly didn't want to be there, "I know."
He sighed deeply, "You never deserved any of that, Louise. You're seriously amazing and...like I told you...I dont want to be part of any bad memory that you have. And I dont think I'll ever forgive myself for making you feel upset."
I kept quiet but...as stupid as it was my heart felt like it was breaking. How could my heart break over something I didn't really have? Steve and I weren't together...he didn't like me...he didn't like me.
"Lou?" he asked, "Did you OD in there?"
I sniffled and wiped my eyes again, "No, I'm still alive," I said with a small chuckle.
Suddenly he was pushing himself from his stall underneath the barrier and into the stall I was sitting in.
"The floor is disgusting," I said as I wrapped my arms around my knees.
"Yeah well, I've already got a bunch of blood and puke on me so," he said brushing it off.
I could help but smile and giggle.
"Why are you crying?" he questioned worriedly.
I cleared my throat and tried to bypass it, "I think just...it's been a lot today and I think it's caught up to me."
Steve smiled sadly at me, "What do you think about this girl?"
My stomach was in knots. But I didn't want to show him that.
I smiled sadly at him and nodded, "She sounds...really great, Steve. You should talk to her about this."
He nodded and ran a hand through his hair, that still managed to stay up even after everything we had been through the last little while, "I should never have been such an asshole to you, Lou. Never. If I knew all the shit that I know now back then...no....I never would have done that shit to you."
I spread my legs out in front of me and leaned my head against the wall and looked over to sinks, "An almost end of the world epiphany, I can take that."
"Lou," he said putting his hand on my knee, I looked at him and took in his face. Beat up, swollen, cut, bruised, bloodied. But sincere.
"If I had known you...really known you back then, it would have been different."
I smiled, "You're just saying that because you became weirdly good friends with my little brother. Then you and I got taken by Russian spies and tortured."
He shook his head before the words were even fully out of my mouth, "No, I'm saying it because if I wasn't so blinded by trying to be this popular douchebag, I would have seen how selfless, brave, kind, loving, funny, loyal, strong you are. I would have seen you, Louise Henderson.
"Even these last few months being friends with Dustin, I should have seen it, and I'm sorry that I didn't. This...what? Almost week with you has been more eye opening then my last nineteen years on earth have been."
I smiled faintly at him and sent him a small shake of my head, "Well, like I said, Steve Harrington, I forgive you," I reiterated.
He let out a loud breath through his nose but sent me a tight lipped smile, "Do you get what I've been getting at?"
I tilted my head, "No?" I questioned, confused
He smiled and let out a laugh before squeezing my knee, "I ...think you're great, Lou. Like...really great. And I've developed...a bit of a crush on you," he said breathlessly, "and by a bit i mean a lot, like...yeah a lot."
I sat up straighter and looked at him, "What?"
His eyes moved back and forth rapidly, "Didn't you...I was talking about you that whole time, Lou," he told me.
I breathed out a small laugh, "I thought...I thought you were talking about Robin," I explained awkwardly.
He furrowed his brows at me, "Robin? No, I mean, I really like Robin in the sense that she's going to be one of my best friends for the rest of our lives like I said before. But you're...completely different. You make me feel good about myself, and make me want to be better, Lou."
I couldn't help the little laugh that bubbled past my lips, "I think you still have that drug in your system."
He smiled at me and shook his head, "No...I think I'm finally thinking clearly."
I grinned and shook my head. Just pure absolute happiness was radiating through me. My stomach was in knots but for the first time in a while, it was pleasant.
"Unless you don't feel the same?"
I looked back to him quickly, he looked worried and nervous. I shook my head at him immediately.
"No, no," I told him, "I like you too, Steve. I have for a long time," I smiled.
He breathed out airly and smiled at me, "I'm sorry I was slow to catch up."
"You caught up," I shrugged, "that's the important part."
He looked down at his lap, "Maybe we can go out when this is all done?" he asked, looking back up to me, hopeful, "Like tomorrow night?"
I grinned, "I think...that might be fun," I nodded, "As long as your face isn't hurting too much or anything."
"If it meant hanging out with you without Russians or monsters coming after us...then it'd be worth it," he said quietly, smiling.
"Sounds good then, Steve," I said, trying to hold in the giddiness I was feeling.
"What should we do?" he mused.
I smiled over at him, "Anthing but coming to Starcourt!"
We both began laughing but a second later the bathroom door burst open and in came Dustin, Robin and Erica.
"Okay," Dustin started, "what the hell?" he yelled looking between me and Steve.
Steve and I looked to each other and began laughing again.
"No, no, no, come on," Robin said, stepping up to the two of us, "I know you're both drugged out, but it's not the time," she said bending down to help me up.
I smiled up at her as I stood up with her, "No, we're good now," I said motioning to myself and Steve, "pretty sure we got it out of us."
Relief flooded her face as she nodded, "Okay well, then you can understand this. Don't run off when we're still be chased by Russian guards!" she yelled, irritated.
I looked over and saw Steve standing next to me, we shared a small smile before I looked back to Robin, "Sorry," we said in unison.
She rolled her eyes and nodded before Erica spoke up, "Listen can you two nerds hold it together and not get us killed? I'm tired of being chased by a bunch of Commies!"
"Okay," Steve said raising his hands, "what's the next move?"
“We leave the mall," Dustin began, "get the hell away from Starcourt. We're gonna blend in with the rest of the crowd and disappear."
I nodded, "Okay...okay, so when are we going?"
Dustin looked back at the door, then back to us, motioning for us to follow him, "Let's see if it's done," he said quietly.
We followed him out of the bathroom and down the hall, leading us to the door separating us from the movie theatre area.
Dustin opened the door slowly and I could immediately hear the chattering of people and I figured either the Back to the Future movie or some other movie had finished because people were all around in the lobby where Steve and I had, stupidly, been spinning in circles.
Robin, Dustin and Erica were in front of Steve and I , with Steve standing directly behind me. My hand was hanging slightly behind me with Steve's fingers laced in mine.
Dustin looked back to us for a second before opening the door fully and walking out into the crowd with us following him.
My breathing had picked up slightly, knowing that the guards were still after us and probably milling about looking out for us.
"Well shit, that worked," Erica stated with a grin.
"Of course it worked, we just have to get on the bus with the rest of these plebes, and we'll be home sweet home," Dustin said, laying out the rest of the plan.
I scanned the area to see if anyone stuck out watching us.
Steve cleared his throat from next to me, "Huh...Dustin...we might not want to go back to your house."
I gritted my teeth, remembering that Steve had said Dustin's name to the Russians. He only said his first name, but I doubt they would have a hard time figuring out who he was. Not that I was angry at Steve at all. Angry that the Russians had gotten to us.
"Why?" Dustin asked quickly.
"I might have given them your first name," he said quietly.
Dustin looked back at us, "What? Why?"
"We were drugged, Dustin," I reminded him, "we couldn't exactly control ourselves."
"So? You resist! You tough it out like a man!" my little brother said sternly.
I swatted him across the back of the head, "Ow!" he yelped looking back at me with a dirty look.
"Next time how about you be the one sleep deprived and taken by Russians, beat up, knocked out and drugged and see how well you resist," I suggested.
Dustin rolled his eyes at me and turned to face forward, while Steve squeezed my hand tightly. I looked up at Steve and saw him watching me with a small smile.  I smiled back at him softly.
"Guys?" Robin said quietly, sounding frightened.
I looked to her and saw her looking straight ahead, I followed her line of vision and saw the two men who we ran into once we were out of the elevator.
"Oh shit," I whispered just as one of the men looked in our direction.
"Abort! Abort!" Dustin called as we all almost began tripping over ourselves to turn around quickly and start running in the opposite way.
We got to the escalator but they weren't on and were totally blocked off.
Robin went to the area between the two escalators and sat down at the top and pushed herself down the metal slide that was between them.
"Come on," Steve instructed, pushing me to go after Robin.
I sat and pushed off and slid down quickly with Robin grabbing my hand to help me up after I made it to the bottom with Dustin, Erica and Steve coming down one right after the other.
"We have to hide," Dustin whispered, "come on!"
We followed behind my brother and ran over to one of the food places and hopped over the counter positioning ourselves on the floor. I sat between Steve and Dustin with my knees pulled up against my chest.
I was trying to calm my panting down, trying to get my breathing to even out.
The second he sat down, Steve grabbed my hand and held it in his. Was this going to be how it ended, after everything we had just gone through culminating with Steve and I expressing that we liked each other...we were all going to die, together, behind the cookie place.
I kept my head pressed against the counter and squeezed my eyes shut. I felt my brother grab my other hand. I opened my eyes and looked to him, but he had his head down.
I could hear the men walking closer to us and I knew this was probably it for us. I was terrified.
Steve squeezed my hand and I looked over to him, his eyes were wide and fearful and I'm sure mine reflected that too. He brought our intertwined hands up and placed it on his chest, where his heart is.
He nodded once and I nodded back. A silent moment between us.
I looked over to Dustin and saw he was now staring straight ahead but he looked petrified with his eyes wide and mouth parted breathing heavily.
I squeezed his hand to get his attention.
"It'll be okay," I mouthed to him silently when he looked over.
He nodded and squeezed his eyes closed. I did the same and braved myself for whatever was was coming.
Then...an alarm was blaring.
I opened my eyes quickly, looking from Dustin to Steve but they both looked as confused as me.
There was a loud crash behind us that made me yell, but it was over in an instant. Steve was the first to make the move to turn and look over the counter with us quickly following suit.
First I saw the bodies of the Russians strewn across the floor of the food court. Then looking to the right I saw the red car that had been stationed in the mall this last week flipped on its side, it had been thrown into another food court store front.
"Holy shit," Dustin whispered.
Steve nudged my arm, I tore my eyes away from the car and looked to him, he was looking up to the second level of the mall, I followed his line of sight and saw them. The rest of the party and Nancy and Jonathan looking over the railing at us.
Halloween Party - Billy Hargrove
Billy x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
Word count: 1,560
Summary: At Tommy’s Halloween party a certain couple talks about their secret relationship. Will they decide to tell everyone or will insecurities get in the way?
Authors Note: So basically I just wanted to be able to post a Halloween Imagine on Halloween. So I wrote this which I personally thought would be short but just the dialog ended up being on paper 9 pages (ten on google docs), then adding all the details and etc etc it filled up. This ended up longer than I thought it would be but I’ll never complain about that haha. I wanted to be able to post something on this holiday and I’m proud of this. I chose Stranger Things for the Halloween Imagine cause they actually go through the holiday in the show so perfect. Thank You and Happy Halloween
“Come on Y/n/n. Cheer up.” Steve spoke from upfront in the driver’s seat after having been glancing back at his sister for the hundredth time. In the last 8-minute car ride.
“It’s a party, you love parties.” Nancy added giving Y/n a quick smile and glance from the passenger’s seat. Y/n appreciated their worry but it’s not like she could tell them why she wasn’t herself.
“It just wasn’t a good day ok? I’ll cheer up once we get there. Promise.” Y/n told them from the backseat. She just couldn’t wait till they got to Tommy’s Halloween Party, then she could get out of the car and go find the person she’s been missing all day.
Once they arrived at the party Steve, Nancy, and Y/n separated. She left her brother to have some time alone with Nancy. All the while Y/n went in search of a certain person. The party was already practically full so it was a little harder to find anyone.
Luckily enough for Y/n the person she was in the process of looking for had already spotted her and was heading over towards her.
When Billy reached Y/n he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back into his chest. Y/n let out a squeal of surprise. Billy leaned his head down a bit and started off kissing along her neck and shoulders. Before he decided to get a bigger reaction out of her and bite down on her neck. “WHAT THE HELL BILLY!”
“Just wanted to surprise my girl.” Billy mumbled into her hair as he kissed the top of her head, as he chuckled a bit at the reaction he got.
“By biting my neck?” Y/n asked turning her head to look at him with an amused look.
“Oh yeah, I’m totally into cannibalism.” Billy nodded, speaking with a totally serious face and tone. Y/n broke out into a smile and laughter, Billy ended up breaking and joined in.
“You’re so weird, and cute at the same time.” Y/n shook her head at Billy’s antics as she turned her whole body to face him.
“Thank you” Billy smirked proudly.
Y/n shook her head and chuckled “That was really only half a compliment.”
Billy’s smirk turned into a smile and he hummed before answering. “Considering you love both of those qualities about me, the whole thing is a compliment, Sweetheart.” The couple laughed softly at his statement, knowing it was completely true. After the two both calmed down the laughter Billy decided to ask the question he was pretty sure he already knew the answer to but it still was bothering him. “Your brother come tonight?”
Y/n looked up at her boyfriend, already knowing where this is coming from on his part. She nodded ‘yes’ while answering. “Yes. He drove me.”
Billy hummed, nodding to show he heard. Billy ran his tongue along his teeth, hanging his head before speaking. “I wish you would have let me drive you.”
“Billy. . .” Y/n sighed
“I know, I know.” He nodded already knowing where this would go. Where it goes every time.
“You didn’t want him to find out either.” Y/n pointed out to him, poking him in the chest.
“I know, it just sucks.” Billy admitted
“I agree.” Y/n agreed leaning her head against his chest with a sigh. “Maybe we should say screw it.” With that statement, Billy burst out in laughter as if that was the funniest thing he had heard all night. Y/n pulled out of his warm embrace to look at him. “I’m being serious Billy.” Y/n smacked him hard across the chest.
“Ouch” he chuckled, rubbing his chest that was turning red in the spot that she had hit. But it wasn’t hard enough to bruise. Both of them knew that. Billy forced his attention back on Y/n. “You’d be a lot more intimidating if you weren’t dressed like that.”  Billy tilted his head sucking in a breath looking Y/n up and down, checking her out. Billy reached out to take her hips but Y/n moved a few steps back out of his reach.
Y/n smirked up at him and raised a brow. “Oh, so you like my costume?”
Billy nodded a little quickly, but he definitely likes it. “It’s fucking sexy.”
“Hmmm, so is yours.” Y/n hummed sizing up her boyfriend, who of course chose a costume that showed off his chest. Which Y/n love’s but right now she was trying to have a serious conversation about the topic at hand. “But I was being serious, Hargrove.”
“Oh so we’re back to last names, Harrington?” Billy smirked
Y/n sighed in defeat giving Billy her best puppy dog look. “Billy be serious for a few minutes, please.”
Billy gave a slight nod before surveying the house. He grabbed her hand and lead her to a more private area to talk about this. “Ok, ok. Tell your brother were together?”
“Yes” Y/n nodded
“Babe, we both know for a fact he’s gonna think I’ve just been using you to piss him off. Now that’s never been why, and I’ve tryed to make that clear in our relationship to you the best I can. The thought of your brother figuring out or telling him, in the beginning, was a bonus. To piss him off like that. Him having to deal with his sister dating his enemy. Priceless.” Billy stated as they entered an empty guest room. He sighed running a hand through his hair in frustration before continuing on with his explanation. “But now its different. Now I don’t want it to piss him off. Not on purpose at least. I’m serious about this. About us.”
Y/n smiled at him, her eyes filled with adoration. “I know, Billy. I’m serious about this too.”
“I just don’t want to lose you. Especially over something like that.” He admitted with a shake of his head. Billy did not want to lose her.
“You won’t lose me, Billy. I promise.” Y/n spoke gently but still with a firm tone so he would know she meant it, with all her heart. She rushed over to him cupping the sides of his face, stroking his fingers gently across his cheeks.
“Don’t get me wrong, Y/n. I would like nothing more than to tell your brother- tell everyone. I want to show you off, that your mine, to all the world. But I don’t want to ruin this.” Billy pointed between them towards the end, for emphasis. He scoffed at himself and the situation as he took a step back and sat down on the bed.
“No one will take what we have, Billy. I promise. Not my brother, not Tommy, Carol, Nancy, your father. No one.” Y/n stated as she took a step back as well, so she stood between his legs. Y/n’s hands were leaving Billy. “So what’d you say?” Y/n asked moving her left hand to cup the back of his neck and right hand down to intertwine their hands together.
“We can tell everyone. I’ll fight for us if anything happens.” Billy nodded, agreeing to let their relationship be known to the rest of Hawkins. They have both been wanting to since the begging but the two also knew it’d be better if they waited. Well, no more waiting.
“Me too.” Y/n agreed biting her lip, trying to contain her excitement.
“My fathers getting nowhere near what we have though.” Billy stated with hard eyes and voice. He was never gonna let his abusive, asshole father anywhere near his girl, or their relationship.
Y/n nodded in agreement, absolutely understanding where he was coming from. “I completely understand that.”
“Wanna go tell everyone now?” Billy asked wiggling his eyebrows while moving his unoccupied hand to hold her hip.
“Huh?” Y/n tilted her head, mouth open and eye wide in shock.
“Well, everyone from school is here tonight- or at least most of them.” He pointed out. But Y/n was still in a little shock. Normally having this conversation was like pulling teeth. An with how this one started off she thought it was gonna go that same way, but it didn’t. Y/n let out a series of small laughs which made him ask. “What?”
Y/n shook her head. “Nothing just. You went from not really wanting to, to wanting to tonight.”
Billy smirked pulling her closer with a tug, making her fall into him. “If we’re gonna do this we need to do this with a bang.”
“Wait, Billy.” Y/n pulled away to look at him as much as his grip would let her.
“Yeah?”
“You still want to drive me?” she asked amused but also hoping he still did want to drive her.
Billy nodded “‘course. Why?”
“Well, once we announce our relationship I don’t think Steve’s gonna wanna take me home. Or drive me anywhere for a while.” Y/n bit her lip giving him a mischievous smile.
“I’d drive you everywhere and anywhere if you’d let me.” Billy mirrored her smile before pulling her in for a kiss. They deserve to enjoy the last few minutes of their secret before the inevitable happens.
Unexpected Surprises
Summary: Things don’t always go as planned, but sometimes they still work out.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, angst, evil russians
AN: Y/F/I is your favorite ice cream
Nervously you made your way over to Scoop’s Ahoy where you knew your boyfriend Steve’s shift should be over soon. The two of you had been together for some time now since you started dating soon after him and Nancy broke up, and you would be lying if you said you didn’t love the guy. The only problem was, sometimes life gets in the way no matter how careful you are.
You wipe your palms on the front of your jeans out of nervous habit as you catch sight of Steve behind the counter scooping ice cream into a cone for the little girl before him. As he hands the cone over his eyes catch yours and his face lights up in a bright smile. You try to return the gesture but by the confused look that appears on his face you can tell that he seen right through you. If you weren’t already planning on letting Steve the information you found out earlier today before, you definitely had to now.
Trying to steady your breathing you sink into the closest seat to you and wait for your boyfriend to finish work. According to your watch you had about ten more minutes before his shift was over, so that meant you had ten minutes to figure out how you would tell your boyfriend of a few months that you were pregnant. All you could do was hope he didn’t freak out too much or break up with you over it. Sure you both only worked part time jobs, but that didn’t mean that this would be impossible. Somehow, someway the two of you could make this work, you just know that you could if you tried hard enough.
Steve sliding into the seat across from you with a cup of Y/F/I dragged you from your thoughts abruptly, “Hey pretty girl,” he says warmly with offering you the ice cream with a small smile.
“Hi,” you murmur hesitantly as your scoop some of the frozen treat onto your spoon.
“What’s wrong?” he questions instantly sensing that something was off with his girlfriend.
“I need to tell you something, but I think it would be better if we talked on our way home or once we get there,” you explain looking up to examine your boyfriend’s expression.
“Okay,” he says silently eyeing you for any clues as to what’s wrong, “Is everything okay? Between me and you I mean.”
“It depends how you take the news,” you mutter sliding the other half of your ice cream to him like the two of you typically did.
He looks up at you with a nervous and uncertain expression but nods anyways while finishing off the ice cream. Once he was done he stood from his seat and threw away the empty container before waiting for you by the exit. Neither of you spoke a word to the other until you were both comfortably settled in the car and driving towards your house.
“So, what is it that you needed to tell me?” Steve asks breaking the silence that had settled between the two of you.
Nervously you played with the hem of Steve’s t-shirt that you had on that day to hide the fact that your stomach was in fact growing. For a minute you were going to back out and make up some lie, but you knew that you couldn’t hide it from him forever. He is your boyfriend who you actively have sex with, he would notice the minute he seen you naked.
Releasing a shaky breath you shift your gaze to the windows in front of you, “I recently realized that I’ve been gaining weight-.”
You’re sentence is cut off by Steve’s laughter, “you look perfect pretty girl I don’t care about how much you way.”
“Steve, I wasn’t done. There is more to the story and you might not like the ending,” you explain causing his laughter to die down, “That I realized I have had the same box of tampons in the bathroom for a couple months now.” “You always get the same brand babe, even I know that,” he says cutting you off again.
“Steve, I only have so much courage to do this and every time you cut me off it diminishes.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you say before taking a deep breath and letting it all spill out, “It wasn’t that I had the same brand, I had the exact same box. The amount in the box never changed. So I brought it up to Nancy and she made the joke that I might be pregnant. She wasn’t serious but the moment she said it a lightbulb went off in my head. I could’ve possibly been pregnant.” The next day, after work, I stopped at the drugstore because I knew that you had a late shift and I took the test. I threw the test away because I didn’t know when to tell you or if I even wanted this. I do, no matter if you are with me or not.”
“What are you trying to tell me Y/N?”
“That I’m pregnant.”
The moment you say pregnant he slams onto the brakes swerving off to the side of the road, “What? Y/N you work at The Gap and I sling ice cream for a living. Hell I couldn’t even get into college if I wanted to, how am I supposed to raise a kid?”
“My parents could help, I know they would if we asked. And I ran into this woman who was shopping at my job last week before any of this even happened. She saw one of the drawings I was working on by the register when she came over to cash out and liked it. Long story short she asked me to come work for her as a sketch artist for her books and all the other stuff her company does. Her employee now is moving away and she really needed a replacement so I start next week.”
“I really don’t know if we can do this Y/N,” Steve mumbles pulling back onto the road and setting off for your house.
When the two of you arrive he slows to a stop but doesn’t shut off it off as he turns to you, “I’ll pick you up for work tomorrow,” he murmurs before kissing you goodbye quickly leaving you confused and slightly hurt.
Steve’s attitude didn’t change for the rest of the week and by the following Tuesday you were way passed having your feelings hurt. Now you were furious that he wouldn’t even properly face you. What used to be car rides filled with laughs to and from work each day turned into an awkward silence that was so deafening it made you want to walk.
Today he wasn’t allowed to be silent and push you away. You convinced your boss to let you out early and made your way over to Steve’s job. He was going to talk to you one way or another by the end of the day even if you have to make him talk.
The moment you arrived you knew there wasn’t going to be any talking about the issue between you two. In a corner booth Dustin, Steve, Robin, and Erica were sat around a table as the young girl munched on a bunch of ice cream. Whatever they were doing Erica apparently didn’t like, but judging by the amount of ice cream in front of her and the look on Steve’s face she apparently agreed to it.
All their talking stopped the moment you approached the table and an awkwards silence took its place in the air, “Uh, can we talk for a minute Steve?” you ask trying to ignore the tension surrounding the table.
“We’re actually kind of busy right now,” he replies in an attempt to get you to leave without talking.
“Well this is important,” you persist.
“What we are doing is probably way more important than whatever it is you are freaking out about,” he mumbled lowly. He thought you wouldn’t hear it but you did and your heart dropped to the pit of your stomach the moment the words registered in your brain.
“If it’s that important to you than fine, but you aren’t going to keep pushing me away Steven. Whatever it is that you are doing I want to be involved.”
“Y/N, no. That’s not a good idea”
“Why not?” you ssk crossing your arms over your chest in annoyance.
“Because it could be dangerous.”
“You’re letting Erica be apart of this and she’s only like ten. Plus after last year I think I can handle it.”
Steve goes to argue with you again but Dustin cuts him off, “She’s right Steve, she was a major help. Especially after you got beat up by Billy.”
“What happened last year?” Robin asks in a confused tone.
“It’s a long complicated story,” you reply casually.
“So is this one,” Robin agrees with a nod.
“Knowing these boys I can imagine,” you say with a small smile before slipping into the booth beside Dustin.
Once seated Robin and Dustin began to explain what was going on right within the very mall leaving you slightly shocked but even more worried. You agreed that you were going to help them much to Steve’s dislike then set off to get ready.
“I really don’t think you should come with us later,” Steve mumbles on the way to your house later that day.
“Well you really don’t have a choice, especially if this is more important to you than discussing our child.
