JESSE GRESS DIAGNOSED WITH LUNG CANCER: Jesse Gress, the long-time Todd Rundgren collaborator and former Guitar Player magazine editor, has lung cancer.

Gress, who had a single-lung transplant in 2021, said the tumor is in his native lung.

“I harbor no expectations, but with my beautiful wife and daughter by my side, I remain full of hope and determination to kick this thing’s ass,” the guitarist said in a statement.

PANIC! AT THE DISCO TO DISBAND: Panic! at the Disco’s forthcoming European tour will be its last, frontman Brendon Urie said.

“I am going to bring this chapter of my life to an end and put my focus and energy on my family,” he said in statement.

BELLE AND SEBASTIAN CANCEL 2023 TOUR DATES: Belle and Sebastian canceled all 2023 North American tour dates as singer Stuart Murdoch deals with unspecified health issues.

“As you might be aware my health took a dive around November 2022,” Murdoch said in a statement.

“While I am hoping that I will improve over the coming months, we felt it would be a safer route to cancel this tour and leave a clear path to recovery, rather than take a risk and have to cancel at the last minute.”

DOUG MARSHALL LEAVING BIG SOMETHING: Big Something is on the cusp of its first lineup change as bassist Doug Marshall plans to leave the band, which formed in 2009, in February.

“Even though we are sad to see Doug (go), we also recognize this is an extremely positive personal decision based on family and friendship and we fully support him as he begins a new chapter in his life,” Marshall’s bandmates said in a statement.

The band plans to carry on; they’ve not named Marshall’s replacement.
