hellooooooo
so, last race of the season, last report. I don't know how to feel
SF-23 YOU WILL NOT BE FUCKING MISSED LITTLE PIECE OF ROSSO CORSA SHIT
right now, I'm the least Tifosi person on earth. Ferrari did my boys dirty with this one. Of course we had to finish the season with a Ferrari Strategy Masterclass. WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!?! WAITING FOR A SAFETY CAR? EXCUSE YOU?!?!
Congrats to Max. You're an absolute beast. But please, don't be a beast next season. I beg you Maxi Taxi. That goes to you too, RBR.
In case you didn't get it, I'm angry at my favorite team. Because we fucking lost the P2 in Constructors. As my dad said, cuz we were bitches this season. I think my dad is a really wise man, I don't know about you.
I wanna punch someone and throw them to a wall. Because I've been forced to listen how Mr Pérez did not deserve his penalty, and how it was a xenophobic action from the FIA. Let me tell you something. The FIA might be group of useless people whose decisions half of the time look like they were taken with their feet, but that penalty did was deserved. "He fully turned into me" WHAT THE HELL. you are not Osama Bin Russell, last time I checked.
If I speak I'm in trouble about the man in the Mercedes with blue that snatched my P2 in the Constructors, so I will not. He did no wrongs I'm just fucking angry because I wanted that P2.
Yuki my man, you are a legend. I think I'm getting Jason Statham to go to races more oftenly if that's how you drive when he is seeing you.
I never, ever watch the races with someone else than my family. But yesterday was my friend's birthday so I decided to throw a little sleep over in my house. Said friend is a die-hard Mercedes fan. It is an understatement to say that another one of my friends had to get between us because everytime a graphic popped up in the screen and it said that Mercedes was P2 I wanted him to be the person whose head I smashed against a wall.
happy winter break everyone! this season had ups and downs, but it is safe to say that: IF NEXT YEAR IS NOT OUR YEAR I TELL YOU FERRARI YOU WILL FELL MY WRATH. AND MY GRANDMA'S.
PD. the only thing that kept me sane during this last gp was, I cannot believe what I am going to say, Lestappen and the goddamned Sticker War

QOTS Rewatch - 5x08 - Todo Lo Que Toco
Know something funny? I didn't even do a 5x08 debrief last year after it aired. Haha. I was both too anxious about what was next and too confused about what this episode had tried to reveal. I think it's a little easier to parse having now watched the rest of the season. I did do a live reaction post though, which at least helps me track most of what I thought about as I watched live?
Tumblr media
There are only two things I dislike about this episode. Number one: TERESA'S HAIR IS IN THE BUN THE WHOLE TIME. I miss natural-hair Teresa. I guess it's cute that the next time we'll see her with her hair down is when she's having sex with James. Very symbolic or something. Still, she looks so tense all episode with her hair pulled back like that (I know, I know, she's tense anyway, that's the point...)! It gives me a headache just looking at her.
The only other thing I dislike about this episode: welp, I guess it's just men running the show after all. For a TV show that started off so female-focused, with not just female characters at the center but female relationships at its heart (Teresa and Camila as well as Teresa and Brenda and even Camila and Isabela), it's such a bummer that in the end we find out Teresa's just a puppet of a bunch of men. I don't know what the deal was with the actress who played Castel and why they couldn't get her but I think it would've all landed a bit better if Castel had actually been a character? (I didn't love watching Castel's inconsequential floor manager, or whoever tf he was, talk down to Teresa so horribly last episode (and this one), only to have Teresa find out this episode that all along Devon and Castel have been pulling the strings.) At least it's clear Teresa isn't their only puppet--so is Boaz, so is Kostya.
I realize that is, in fact, the point. It unfortunately though all feels a little muddled in this episode and it left my head scratching at the time, but I think after a year and a rewatch I can finally reason it all out.
What is happening here then? What's the big reveal? Teresa's apparently got multiple enemies at this point (Boaz, Devon, and Kostya) but how do they all fit together? Some of that I guess won't really become clear until next episode so I'll revisit this then. But in this episode I think there's still enough to unpack.
Tumblr media
So, we learned in season 3 that Devon and Castel are CIA. Devon at the time was after Teresa because El Santo was a competitor to the Colombians and thus, in conflict with the CIA's interests. Once El Santo was taken out, Devon and Castel backed Teresa and James went to work with Devon in order to protect Teresa's status as the "preferred distributor" of the CIA, or something like that.
Now, this season, Teresa has her eye on the prize, which is going legit. I think James knows deep down that this can't happen, since he well knows that the CIA won't let her out of the business alive. Anyone in that deep with the CIA can't have a life after. They'd be way too much of a liability. So James is carrying this weight around all season, wanting so badly for her dreams of going legit to be possible but knowing that, in some way or another, the clock is ticking for her. Teresa of course finds out that Devon was a CIA contractor in 5x01. But knowing that he is a CIA contractor and knowing that she is essentially a puppet of the CIA are very very different things. What she finally learns in this episode is that, not only was Devon CIA (making it futile for James to try to fight back when Devon insisted he come with him at the end of season 3), but that James gone with Devon specifically so that Devon would leave Teresa alone. (This is the "you were protecting me" part of her realization.) The other part of this realization, though, is that for all of seasons 4 and 5, she has been the CIA's pawn. The CIA wasn't just turning the other way from her business; she was a part of their entire drug world ecosystem. A cog in their proverbial machine.
So the CIA is the "big bad," but where does that leave Boaz and Kostya? Well, Kostya obviously becomes her enemy because the CIA wants him dead and want her to kill him. She enlists Oksana to kill him, he finds out about it somehow and kills Oksana instead, and now Kostya is coming for her. That's all fairly straightforward.
Boaz, on the other hand, is a little more confusing. Boaz has been a part of her operation since the end of season 3 when she banished Camila and plugged him in as her supplier. He remained loyal to her through all of season 4. So what exactly happens with him in season 5? Did he just get bored with being a good employee? Did he lose respect for her when she let him live? Did he get pissed off at her for sending George to spy on him?
Or was he also Devon's pawn? When Devon shows up in her bar this episode, she says to him that Castel couldn't have cut her out to work directly with Boaz without his permission. "Permission?" he says, "They did this on my order." I find it hard to believe Boaz knew all along that Devon and Castel were CIA. He's way too much of a loose cannon for the CIA to entrust him with that much information. Likelier, to me, is that Devon enlisted Castel to cut off Teresa and work directly with Boaz. The ruse was that Castel didn't want her distributing in Europe and didn't like that she was getting too big (which, as Teresa pointed out in 5x07, doesn't even make sense, since European expansion would have only been good for Castel's business). But Castel could act as if she was cutting Teresa out for that reason, and by empowering Boaz in that way, they could assume he would start gunning for Teresa for all of his own personal reasons, knowing he had Castel's leverage behind him.
In fact, though, this was Devon's plan all along. He wanted Teresa squeezed so that she had no choice but to follow his order to kill Kostya. And he knew that the only way she would feel that squeezed is for the lives of her family to be at stake.
Tumblr media
Whew. Okay. All of that make sense? I think so. It's a hard pill to swallow for me (and, no doubt, for her) that she's just been a pawn all along, though I realize the point is this isn't an empowering business, she wouldn't have been able to change the industry from within just be sheer force of will, it's not a life she could have possibly made work. That's the point. And yet it's so depressing.
Not depressing though is seeing how, now that she knows everything, the distance between her and James that she'd been trying to force all season immediately vanishes. The distance wasn't all her doing--it makes it clear that also, him having this outsider's view of what she's trying to accomplish and knowing all along it isn't possible is a part of what puts them at odds with each other. He can work for her and take her orders but he can't fully buy in because he knows it's futile. She can feel that distance (most acute in 5x06, for example) but neither of them can actually talk about why it's there, her because she can't go there emotionally and him because, well, I think he is so afraid of devastating her. He doesn't want her to lose hope in going legit since he knows it's the only thing that drives her at this point.
And then in this episode he sees, and realizes, that no--going legit is not the only thing driving her. Underlying everything she does is her love for the people in her inner circle. Pote and Kelly Anne and George and, now, him. So, finally, he can tell her the truth. And, finally, he recognizes that she's still the person he fell in love with back in Dallas. And she realizes that the distance between them isn't necessary anymore. That, in the end, it's okay to be vulnerable and he's safe.
Tumblr media
So. I love this episode, at the end of the day. Despite Teresa not having her hair down in a single scene. Despite the heavy reveal that everything she's been working toward is impossible. (And despite the writers killing off the only other interesting female character of the last two seasons who they severely underutilized this season in particular. I SAID IT. Sorry Kelly Anne.)
Final thought; I was so excited about 5x09 after watching 5x08 because it really seemed like we were going to get a Teresa-centric episode (and therefore Jeresa-centric). Who could have possibly thought they'd spend HALF THE EPISODE IN THE SUBURBS???? RIP to that anticipatory hopeful feeling lol. I love 5x09 now but it's definitely not what I thought we were in for at the time. Just trying to get as much of my ranting about that out of my system now as possible so that I can move on to actually appreciating the episode for what it is when we get there next week 😂

BL- BOYS' LOVE:
Series: BAD BUDDY (2021, THAILAND)
Due to their horseplay Pat (PAWAT CHITTSAWANGDEE aka OHM) and Pran (KORAPAT KIRDPAN aka NANON) are left in a compromising position when the dorm rental agent returns.
Tumblr media
Believing the worse she asks for cooperation (asking them not to do "it" there) as the room is rented. But was it though??
Anyway Pat was relieved as Pran was moving after hearing Pat's father trash Pran's family while he hid under Pat's bed.

Favorite first kiss?
Favorite First Kisses!
Doozie of a question. Here we go...
Tumblr media
1 Until We Meet Again
I mean COME on. How could this not be the #1 best first kiss? It's so gentle and so good and so hot and just... EVERYTHING a first kiss should be in life. A++ romantic
Tumblr media
2 Old Fashion Cupcake
THE LONG SHOT. The desperation. The finger bite. The oozing THIRST. A++ quality desire incarnate
Tumblr media
3 Why R U? Korea
Korea, scooping in a top spot? It's just the body language, the striding in, dropping the backpack, the surprised MUTUAL response (no flinching), and all the yearning. A++ want
(Foreshadow: This may... or may not... be my top kiss of 2023.)
Tumblr media
4 Bad Buddy
Seriously boys, BOYS! You had to make it so beautiful and so painfully heartbreaking at the same time? Thanks for that. A++ pain
(They may have a light kiss before this one, I can't remember. I keep meaning to do a BB rewatch but I have to gear up for it.)
Tumblr media
5 Semantic Error
I mean, well, OBVIOUSLY. Just A++ they perfect, no notes
Tumblr media
6 Second Chance
I am pretty sure this one got best kiss of 2021. All you KinnPorche stans are sleeping on this little gem = Tong delivering what amounts to BLs best drunk kiss ever. FIGHT ME. A++ confused needy babies
Tumblr media
7 About Youth
Speaking of sweet af first kisses from first timers. This one drips in sweet innocence including a rainbow and some smiles. A++ first sweethearts
Tumblr media
8 HIStory 2 Crossing the Line
Okay the actors kiss for a dream sequence before this but this is the characters' first kiss, so that kinda counts, right? It's just such a pretty kiss. A++ stay on target, stay on theme, utterly unique
Tumblr media
9 My Dear Gangster Oppa
Ya know this show is just so much fun and so solid and this pair deserves more accolades then their previous series afforded them. A++ finally, well done you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10 I Feel You Linger in the Air
Okay it's just all the dialogue and execution around this kiss is great and then the kiss ALSO doesn't disappoint. Plus permission and snark and so much more. A+++ class & storytelling
Also, whaan (sweet) is a really good word to have seared into one's brain in Thailand. Useful when ordering drinks.
Okay they kinda kissed before but this is the one that counts:
I didn't know how else to put this category but I had to include it so I could include this kiss:
Tumblr media
We Best Love
The crying bridge-top kiss. I mean COME ON. One of my favorite kisses of all time. I love it when the weep+smooch.
Tumblr media
La Pluie
Honestly? All their kisses are good so I can't remember if this was their first but, it great. Frankly, off all their kisses it's not my absolute favorite, but they deserve a mention because... wow boys. Just... wow.
Tumblr media
The Eclipse
Because of their dynamic I am pretty sure there was something before this one, but this one lives in my head.
Tumblr media
Be Loved In House I Do
I'm not sure this counts as their first because I can't remember the sequence in BLIHID (he through line is a bit wonky in my brain) but it is a killer kiss.
There should be more Taiwan but...
The thing is, once a Taiwanese BL starts delivering great kisses they just keep it up. So unless the narrative puts particularly strong plot intent on the "firstness" of that first kiss, they just get all sexy domestic muddled in my head.
Honor the Crumbs - Sides & Shorts, Best First Kisses
Tumblr media
Some More
"You can kiss me, heong."
Tumblr media
2 Moons 2 - MingKit
It's just such a sweetly perfect first kiss of the very first time variety. Before About Youth, we had these two.
Tumblr media
Cutie Pie - NueaSin
Kissing the kiss that won them their own series. No other audition needed. In the land of amazing kisses, and up against Zee, this ONE stood way out. Very good boys. Very good indeed.
Tumblr media
kiss x kiss x kiss - perfect scandal (AKA the office ep)
Look, this is the kiss we should have gotten in Cherry Magic. It's great, both the hesitant "permission given" first part and everything that comes next. Track this down if you can, it's a lovely little short from Japan.
Tumblr media
My Secret Love - TimMai
Very minor side dishes but they were all I cared about in this show. They gave me the kiss I wanted even if they didn't get the screen time the deserved.
Tumblr media
You're My Sky - SanAi
We all know they stole this show, not that there was much to steal.
Tumblr media
Kiss Me Again - PeteKao
Maybe not the best as a kiss, but it was 2016 and this was SO SIGNIFICANT to the fandom, to the plot of the show, to coming out, to EVERYTHING. This is THE TayNew kiss. I will never forget it. Never.
I don't have a good screen cap but MarkOuwen's kiss in the taxi in Love is Science? was also fantastic.
(source)
Kisses as of Dec 2023. Not responsible for great first kisses that come after this date.
Opinion and preferences based on these ideas of good kiss chemistry.
I want you thoughts, RT and add your favorites or leave a comment. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Boys and girls of every age. Would you like to see something strange??
In breathless anticipation of whatever spooky tricks Barb and Alex will pull out of their witches hats this year, I’m reaching back to Halloween 2021 for the second installment of their dark winx club mini series. So while awaiting their next video which will probably be Libra, step into my way back machine and witness the underwater MAJESTY of dark Layla/Aisha!
Fate: the winx saga did our girls, especially our resident Fairy of Tides, so dirty and Alex and Barb have no patience for it lol.
“At the beginning of this year, fate: the winx saga came out on Netflix, and it wanted to portray winx characters in a darker setting. But I don’t think it succeeded.”
“I want our dark Layla to be spooky but with a lot of colors and bright features because that’s the vibe of the original winx cartoon. Colorful fashion and magical designs. I just want to show that you can make a darker rendition of a character and still use light colors and have fun with the design.”
“Layla is a fairy of water and our version will be an evil underwater creature. That’s why we don’t need her wonky loose legs.” *saws Clawdeen doll apart at the torso*
“We need to spookify her design a bit more. Skeletons are spooky right?”
“She looks great so far, but to be honest she doesn’t look like Layla with straight hair like this. So let’s fix it with plastic straws and bobby pins.”
youtube
If you are an enjoyer of the original cartoon in any capacity, if you occasionally rewatch today or just remember it fondly, this video is for you! Alex and Barb seamlessly fix the hatchet job Fate did to the Princess of Andros, and give us a colorful, fashionable, morphix-powered evil mermaid. All in the Halloween spirit of course!
If you like the video consider going to subscribe to the enchanterium YouTube channel!

Sometimes self care is rewatching Dune (2021) and going on and on about ‘the symbolism of this or that’ or how ‘something here is a nod to the sequels’ or ‘look how the casting characterizes the house atreides’ or ‘the music here is phenomenal, it foreshadows gurney’s fate later on’ or ‘I think the difference in the vocalizing in the soundtrack here is deliberate’ until whoever you’re watching it with is ready to commit murder to shut you up.
But it’s just so phenomenal that you can watch it and catch new things each time, the visual and auditory storytelling in the background gives you so much! All these little things that go unnoticed until you see and want to jump out of your seat at them, let’s talk about that.
Let’s talk about how Jessica is always hooded when her scenes are associated with her Bene Gesserit powers and upbringing, how you can literally watch her out her hood down or up mid scene as she transitions from mother and concubine to an obedient disciple, how it foreshadows her struggle in the books all the way through Children of Dune.
Let’s talk about how well done the foreshadowing of the jihad is, how even this early on we can see the start of what is integral to Paul’s conflict in Messiah, how that feeling of helplessness about a destiny he doesn’t want will keep him frozen and unable to stop what’s in motion, how Messiah is such an incredible book because it ties into the dystopian trope wherein revolutionaries become like those they once revolted against, but how it’s so much more fascinating than some of the ways we see it in modern dystopias, because it’s the main characters who are following the pattern, not just watching in horror as those they fought with change for the worse, but actually experiencing it, horrified at what they’ve done and what they will continue to do, frozen and so unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done to stop it, how the movie is still in the stage where they are noble and valiant, but it makes sure to show the dread of what it coming, how it does such a good job of showing the burden of foresight that is so integral to Dune, the way that even as they see the future and can attempt to change it, they know that no matter their decisions, horrible things will come, how it shows Paul as scared hating the power he was given and blaming his mother and her aspirations, how the atreides family never wanted to be great, they wanted to be good, how Paul is coming to see that great and good cannot always coexist, how you look at this boy and you can genuinely see how he will become the man saying ‘Believers, all of them’ how Dune is such a hard story to get right because you watch someone devolve and stand by why horrible things are done without seeing him as a terrible person from the start, without the boy and the man seeming irreconcilable from one another, how the movie actually is on the right track even though the end result is unpalatable to the majority of society, how they are showing the white savior trope in a way that is thus far complaint with how it is deconstructed later on, how they have the epic notes of the beginning without going in a direction that makes the ending impossible.
Let’s talk about how they cast the Atreides family as beautiful people, but not soft, not tamed to modern standards, aristocratic in their looks in such a way that you believe they have been nobility for centuries, maybe millennia, slightly untouchable, dangerous, like those in power during the Italian Renaissance, how Paul looks young but also ethereal and formal, the balance between boy and duke and messiah in his appearance, how Leto’s hair and beard make him not only regal but worn by politics, cold and formal yet fatherly all at once, how Jessica’s ghostly pale complexion nods to her Harkonnen ancestry in the books and how she is beautiful in a way that seems not entirely human, how the other members of the Atreides house are each unique and full of character, not designed to fit a palette or aesthetic, whereas the Harkonnens have an eerie similarity that shows how little they value free will, how the Harkonnens are not dramatized to emphasize their characterization but rather understated, devoid of emotion save for rare explosive moments, how they echoed this in their design, making them blank slates, taking away rather than adding, leaving them almost human, but not quite, enough to trigger that ancient animal instinct in a person that says ‘something is wrong here, something is dangerous’ rather than making them fit in with the conventions of a time period or trend as to how to look evil.
Let’s talk about the soundtrack, how the epic music playing when House Atreides lands on Arrakis is echoed as Gurney and his men charge at the Harkonnens who so greatly outnumber them, how this not only ties you emotionally to the battle, hearing this dying cry of the Atreides, more so than the music continuing to be dark and foreboding through it all, but also how it foreshadows the survival of Gurney and the small group of men with him, living to reunite with Paul later on.
Let’s talk about how throughout the soundtrack we have women vocalizing, the emphasis on the power of the Bene Gesserit and how in Leto’s death scene we diverge from this trend, how he was so powerless against all these grand plans but he still took a stand, still ended things on his own terms.
Let’s talk about how Jessica doesn’t answer when Leto asks her to protect Paul as a Bene Gesserit. Let’s talk about the bull and the matador, the symbolism there. Let’s talk about the emphasis on medieval and renaissance headdresses on the Bene Gesserit, the significance of choosing attire from a time when the Catholic Church was in the peak of its power. Let’s talk about the nods to Gurney’s music. Just, look at all this stuff in the movie that you barely even notice, the first time. All the planning that went into it, how to fit in all these little nods, how to stay true to who the characters are in the present while also beginning to show who they will become. Let’s talk about it.
Though maybe not to the people I was watching the movie with. I don’t actually have a death wish.

Welp, Chai, I rewatched the entire Hazbin Hotel pilot on the night of the 18th. It's been well over a year since I even watched it. Now onto my thoughts...
The Good 😊
The Animation: I know a lot of us complained about Viv's style of animation. But compared to the current HH animation style, it's a lot more pleasing in my eyes. I especially love the smear frames in the pilot (often referred to as "cursed images") as they really make the animation very dynamic.
The Voice Acting: I still absolutely adored the voice acting in the Hazbin Hotel pilot. Jill, Monica, Michael, Edward, Mick, etc. really brought their A-Game and really brought these characters to life. Frankly, I should've been way more upset when they were replaced back in December 2021.
Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow: Man, I have forgotten how much of a banger this song is. I don't know how to describe the genre/genres of this song, but I view it as a strange yet effective mixture of a piano ballad, pop rock, and speed metal. I actually headbanged pretty hard during the song, something I can't say about the new Hazbin songs.
Vaggie: Still love that little grey moth sinner with an unfortunate name. I view her as the most rational (if not the only rational) character in HH. I still enjoy the scene where she explains to Angel Dust the legend of Alastor, very reminiscent of a Hey Arnold urban legend scene.
The One Scene between Angel Dust and Alastor: I don't know why, but the scene where Angel Dust offers a dick sucking to Alastor and then Alastor bluntly rejected him still makes me chuckle to this day. That's probably the only sex related joke I laughed at in my recent rewatch.
The Bad 😡
Seeing Red: This is a complaint nearly all of us had with the pilot: Too... much... RED! I don't know why didn't bother me years ago, yet it bothers me now. Granted, compared to the current series, the pilot has a little more variety of colors, even though it's still red dominated.
The Humor: Unfortunately, aside from the Angel/Alastor exchange, a lot of the jokes in HH fell flat with me during my recent rewatch. It just makes me wonder how I thought HH was funny back then. Maybe Viv's rose-tinted fog really clouded my judgement.
Vaggie's Treatment: One thing I still dislike about the pilot, even back when I was a fan, was how Vaggie was treated. Despite being the most/only rational character, Vaggie was treated quite poorly. From being ignored by Charlie, to being insulted by Angel, to being slapped in the ass by Alastor. *sigh* Why do cartoons have to torture characters with a hint of rationality?!
Too Many Characters, Not Enough Time: Not sure if this is nitpicky or not, but I feel the pilot "introduced" far too many characters in a 30-minute video. Yeah, I put quotes around "introduced" as many of them got only a few seconds of screen-time or were only there in portraits. Even "main" characters like Husk and Niffty got the short end of the stick in terms of screen-time. It also took me long to realize that Viv really favors her male characters over her female ones. Female led show, my ass!
The Ugly 🤢
The Wasted Potential: This is the only ugly thing, but the wasted potential of HH is so ugly that the Ugly Barnacle would die. Under Viv's rose-tinted fog, I foolishly grew emotionally attached and had high hopes for this show. Unfortunately, thanks to Vivienne Medrano's micro zepto-management, she pissed all the great potential away. *sigh* It could've been great... 😔
Well, that was a load-off. Now I feel like I've made some closure. 😇
-Metallica Anon 🤘
Thank you for reminding me just how Gerald Urban Tale-esque Vaggie's Alastor exposition was...between that and the constant little sound effects, the whole thing felt like a Nicktoon, and I know that's part of what I loved about it.
This was a bittersweet walk down memory lane just reading it, but I'm glad you got your closure, Metallica Anon. It really could have been so great.

Wanted to do a big pretty artwork for the Hilda finale, but I'm sick and have no ideas and motivation. So here's something simple.
Awful rant about the show, if you're interested: (spoiler free)
I started watching the series back in late 2021, right after the movie was announced. (Which was just my excuse to watch it.)
It was surprisingly good. I was grinding a Royale High event through the entire thing and I still enjoyed it a lot. I think I watched one half of the movie before midnight on new years eve and finished it after. I went out of my way to avoid my family to watch it. I was so hyped, and it was so great. Probably still my favorite movie to this day. I've had two phases where I watched the movie for 5 days straight and never got bored, and I still rewatch it regularly. I LOVE HILDA AND THE MOUNTAIN KING ‼🗣🔥💯
The series itself means a lot to me. I watched it in a difficult time in my life. (It's gotten worse 😊) It was so nice and calm. There weren't even any references to the real world and no fourth wall breaking. It was so nice for me to escape into that little world without any reminders of my own big and scary world, and it still is.
Hilda will always hold such a special place in my heart. I think season 3 was great, and the last episode was awesome.
Also, what do you mean it's been 2 years? Has it really? You sure? Are you for real????
I wanna go back to december 2021 I was so much happier than I am now 😭😭
Thanks to Luke Pearson and his gang for bringing this series to life and giving it a wonderful ending, I will never forget it! Def gonna watch it with my future children. (My reptile collection)
Thank you for listening to my autism rant 👍

a rant about the media narratives surrounding lewis, fernando and max
ok so ever since well, bahrain testing 2023 and the discovery that aston martin do indeed have a fast car (and more importantly, one which is faster than merc), the media have created the alonso ‘hype-train’, saying that this man is basically the third-coming-of-christ (let us not forget about the ‘great white hope’ himself who is the only one standing between nando and jesus himself, but i digress); example are aplenty, as the majority of formula 1’s posts on instagram, twitter etc. being about fernando and even sky making a cute little montage reminding people (who most probably have not watched nando’s glory days) that nando is in fact a two-time world champion, went through nearly all teams on the grid like a hot knife through butter, leaving a fire behind him Every. Single. Time. (you gotta respect the man at least for his ability to cause drama everywhere) and that this is not the first time he is not in a back-marker team.
And you can understand the hype to a certain extent...jeez, dude’s forty-one and races brilliantly with as much as fire as before; (disclaimer: as much as i can dislike the man, i can still recognise as a great racing driver, because you really would have to be blind not to see it); but there is a limit to it which i think has been crossed and it’s about deserving something…deserving a better team, deserving a third world championship, deserving to win races…
Tumblr media
“(...) can fernando bring home a third and much-deserved title this year?”
pray tell how exactly this third title ‘much-deserved’? and i fully understand media tactics, content creation, boosting engagement, clicks, likes etc. etc., it’s all part of the game, i know…but why is it that fernando is the one who ‘deserves’ it? Why is the media suddenly capable of using the narrative of ‘deserving’ in relation to someone like fernando alonso?
And why that narrative can never be present in relation to one lewis hamilton? The answer’s pretty easy, no? But it runs deeper…because the media don’t want to like lewis hamilton. they didn’t want him to win in 2021, that much is obvious if you rewatch literally any race from that season and listen to the narrative around him and max…the ‘dethroning’, the ‘young-pretender’ etc. the elements where all there, they were ready, waiting impatiently for the new champion, their new ‘face of f1’ (how’s that working out for them eh?) and when ad21 came about…which was even better for the show because the stakes were all that higher with the two of them on equal points…until of course, lap 57, it was all going slightly against the script, wasn’t it? But then they did their little rule-breaking, ‘human error’, whatever you want to call it and so what? max verstappen champion of the world.
lewis hamilton couldn’t afford to say anything. he couldn't because of who he is. And the media knew it. They would swallow him up like wolves. They would pounce on him, rip him up, mix him with dirt; and if they don’t do that (because he disappeared for a few months) they will sickly glorify his composure, his class, monetise his trauma etc. And we see it to this day…his silence was glorified; last year, sky f1 knew perfectly well what strategy to take; they’ve got their new champion; there’s no asterisk to that title- martin brundle (ironic you had to clarify that bud), or better yet say ‘move on’,‘it wasn’t that bad, just a mistake’, ‘you can’t change it’’, yeah because you wouldn’t like it to be changed, would you? You never wanted a black man to break that record, did you?
oh and also thank god lewis came back to the sport, and oh how amazing it is that merc built a shitbox of a car, so we can now again talk about how ‘he still hasn’t recovered from ad21’, let’s again use his trauma, say he’s finished, that he’s struggling, let’s make a mockery out of it all, yeah…and max, oh you know, he drives like a champion, he deserved that title, you win it over a season- martin brundle, again (it’s always the same suspects, isn’t it?)
He deserved it, here it is again. max verstappen deserved his titles (rule-breaking and cost cap breaches under the carpet); he’s a pure racer, you know. All he cares about is racing. He’s pure talent and passionate.
fernando alonso deserves his third title, apparently. He works hard. He empowers his team. He works well with his new, young teammate. He’s got the experience, the maturity and the talent. He’s the oldest driver on the grid, but he’s driving better than ever.
Lewis won’t get that because he’s alone as the only black man in this sport, which will continue to isolate him, belittle him, but also will use him. Lewis won’t ever get the alonso treatment. He won’t be willed on, cheered on, no. No, never.
Same old. Same old.

Oooh I just started rewatching Twin Peaks yesterday! The last time I saw it was around 4 or 5 years ago. Just putting on the first episode again made me realize how much like home this weird little show feels like to me. It’s been nice to see your enthusiasm for it on my dash :)
may I ask what you enjoy most about the show, or why it appeals to you, if anything comes to mind? I find it’s a bit of an odd one to try recommending to people - I love it, of course, but my taste is a little strange, and I don’t find other fans out in the wild that often.
oooh, that's an interesting question! i think theres a lot of aspects that appeal to me about twin peaks...on a very surface level i love the aesthetics of the show, as someone who lives in new england (pacific northwest and new england are connected pacman-map-style in my mind), the settings and fashion are all excellent. i also love its absurdity, i love the fact that no one talks like a real person and theres people with such weird and distinct archetypes and over the top emotions all colliding with each other---that, and the way it approaches the sort of worldbuilding going on, plus the importance of dreams in the narrative contribute to such an interesting and dreamy atmosphere. i think what makes twin peaks special compared to things that were made after it and were inspired by parts of it is that even when its confusing and strange on a literal level, its always emotionally resonant--you don't need to understand it, because you feel it. the way they're able to set up all the people and relationships in this town so quickly, you really feel like you're a fly on the wall in this living and breathing place, even when its strange. you rarely see how buildings and places connect, but you don't need to because its all so convincing as a woven together location (and of course thats for like logistical/filming purposes, but it creates an interesting effect lol). it uses the familiarity of americana tropes (and even television tropes) and distorts them to create meaning, while still keeping parts of their signifiers intact. even watching it for the first time in 2021 was shocking throughout, so i genuinely can't imagine how it felt catching it live when it was airing, like there was nothing else like it! the fact that david lynch helped to make a prime time television show is something that like logically should never have happened, but i'm so glad it did. i also think on a production/creative level, its so interesting to see how it sort of morphed and developed as the original run and fire walk with me and the return unfolded, like what themes were dropped versus what (at first) insignificant details were given meaning and expanded upon.
i do think it can be a hard sell to convince people to give it a chance--i've had a friend or two try to watch it and say its too slow for them, or it just wasn't clicking. but i've also had more friends really get into it, probably because i have a lot of weirdo artsy friends (i say that with love of course). but i think it's a great gateway into other weird and absurd stuff, or at least it was for me. i also enjoy a good ol "weird thing happening in small town" story, and so it was interesting watching twin peaks and then revisiting stuff that was clearly inspired by it, or at least partially (welcome to night vale, s1 of stranger things...s1 of riverdale. but also i think the return has its own sort of inspiration fuel, like season 4 of barry and beau is afraid struck me in the same way that the return did)
