Warnings: angst, bit of fluff mixed in with smut, one outdated word,

A/N: Everyone has their secrets, but sometimes we need someone to share them with. Roland just chooses his last night to let Rin in on his. This is a follow-up to Songbird

Roland sat on the edge of Rin's bed while she paced back and forth anxiously in front of him. Since he came over earlier in the evening, they only managed to kiss until their lips swelled. Rin had taken her gloves off, but refused to touch Roland anywhere with bare skin.

“I don't understand. You said I do nothing to ye?”

“You-you don't,” Rin stuttered. “At least not normally. This isn’t normal, Roland. We've known each other for over a year, and until yesterday neither of us have given any inkling that we are attracted to each other. I mean who wouldn't be attracted to you? Look at you, you're terribly handsome.”

Roland cocked an eyebrow, “Handsome in a terrible way. I'll admit t’the terrible part. I can be a bit..”

“Of a twat?”

“Much. It's the handsome part I don't know I’d agree with. There's not exactly a line around the block.”

“I just don't like surprises. I've had things happen.. To me. I can't take that again.”

Roland reached out and hooked his fingers in the belt loops of Rin’s jeans. He drew her down into his lap, his arms held her in place.

“First you’re giving me motion sickness watching all that back and forth. Second will ye just bloody touch me?! Anywhere, you'll see something I've never told anyone at this school. Not that I have friends besides you.”

Rin’s heart fell. That really couldn't be the truth? Roland wasn't all that bad, he was just a little.. blunt. Not that she had friends, present company aside. It was difficult for Rin to get close with anyone in case their true personalities showed through. She had a knack for telling people their feelings before they were even ready.

“What if I don't like what I see?”

“It's nothing that salacious. Just a wee bit I suppose,” there was a shrug in his shoulder. “If ye don't like it, ye never have t’see me again.”

“Why do you keep saying that like another semester won't roll around?”

“I'm moving to Perth,” he said matter of fact.

“AUSTRALIA?!” Rin was gobsmacked.

“Jupiter!” Roland gave a mock surprised face that teased the girl on his lap.

Rin shoved Roland somewhere between serious and playful. “Oh don't be a bastard!”

“I can't be one! My parents were married!” his brows furrowed in fake consternation. “As far as I know at least?” He stroked his chin in deep thought.

“Can you ever talk without sarcasm or snark?!”

“I'm like Tinkerbell, but I must be acerbic to live!”

Rin’s eyes nearly rolled back in her head. The banter was so natural between them. In that weird way you never notice how much you want or need someone until they won't be there tomorrow. She became instantly pained. Rin had never felt as at-ease with anyone, sharing her secrets and her songs as openly as she did with Roland.

Now her voice was soft and sad, “What's in Oz you can't find here?”

“They offered me a place at their sister conservancy. I've got family over there too. What's left of them.”

Roland nudged his nose against Rin’s. He nuzzled downwards and along her cheek. Taking a chance in kissing her once more where his nose had been. He let his lips linger on her skin, so she knew he would be an open book if she wanted. Even if it was just a day or so before he left her.

Rin draped her arms around Roland’s shoulders before kissing him again. There was a heat, that taste of smoke. Of trailers and RVs all parked together around campfires and music. Then a spice of peppers as his tongue overpowered hers. His kisses taste like Travellers, once called Gypsy.

Roland’s mouth was hungry for her as he awkwardly reached for the hem of her shirt. Desperate to feel Rin, she could tell. All of her. There was nothing sinister about his intentions. Just fiddles and drums and whiskey.

In a blur of laughter and limbs, Rin and Roland clambered to their feet to strip down to their underwear. She flattened her scarred hands on his chest. For someone who could see into someone's mind or emotions, how did Rin miss his olive skin? Those subtle differences that would've given him such grief if others knew.

Rin said it out loud in the sudden quiet. only Roland’s wild heartbeat under her fingers and heavy breath that builds. “You're a gypsy.”

Her eyes focused on his body. An ache between her thighs as she glanced down at the erection inside of his boxers. He wasn't embarrassed. In fact, he was quite confident for Roland at this moment.

Roland’s hands were in Rin’s hair. Entangled so that they tugged her head upwards with a pleasurable pain. She was forced to meet his eyes as he leaned down to mesh his mouth with hers again. There was a sadness now in Roland's flesh. It flowed just underneath the surface as Rin embraced him. Her experience with tents and churches and people “speaking in tongues” as her parents forced her to perform “miracles” on blind faith punters bubbled over her surface and spread to Roland’s.

“Wren. It wasn't like that. I'm sad because I miss them. I'm ashamed of turning my back on the people who raised me. That's where I fell in love with music. C’mon you’re ruining our last night!”

Roland let go and laid on the bed with his back to the wall. He propped himself up on his elbow and tapped the bed a few times. “Let me take care of you?” An eyebrow arched suggestively.

“You know what you're doing?”

Still, Rin laid down beside Roland on her back. He bent forward with a hand on her neck and pecked her lips softly. Once. Twice, before she opened her mouth and welcomed his tongue. They mingled and danced with each other as Rin slipped her hand inside the fly of Roland’s boxers so she could trace her fingers along his erection.

There was a sharp intake of breath as Roland’s stomach contracted at her touch. Rin knew it was more of a delighted surprise as her hand now curled around the shaft and began to stroke back and forth. Her fingertips worked up a friction as he finally exhaled heavily into her. Rin’s breath caught in her throat for the hundredth time that evening. She held Roland as he moved in her the same way his fingers had. Her hands splayed along his shoulders as they found a cadence; silent except for their breathing. Roland’s heavy. Rin's airy as she realized a little more about him.

She was married. With a little girl about 7 or 8. Roland knew her husband as the head of the classical music department. Roland’s department. He listened as they talked about him like an art exhibit instead of a human. technique not passion.

But the husband found out, and Roland was placed in the folk music program. It just made him heart sick for Ireland and caravans and Sunday night cèilidh. How he couldn't go back, but she had stopped him from moving forward. Folk music, HIS music, required love and emotion and Roland had been told he was only good for the technical.

Then he did something he hadn't done since he was 3 or 4, Roland just stopped. He'd play something that was mechanical and cold and hard like he would become. Even if Rin had changed his view these past few months.

Rin loved Roland in that moment as he rocked harder and faster. And he loved her. It wasn't the romantic kind; that was ok too. Sometimes you just need a partner to play music with.

Critical Role: Beau

Over the course of CR2, I was totally blindsided by how much I grew to love Beau, so I was both excited and nervous to make a box for her. I actually made the whole box on paper first (which I have never done before). I think that on some level, I was procrastinating because if I never started, I couldn’t screw it up. After having numerous Beau conversations with some amazing people (special thank you to @alemongrenade, who helped me to turn my Beau feelings into real words), I was able to pin down some themes for her, but it took a while to flesh them out and really get to a point where I was comfortable with them. I ended up focusing on the difference between Beau’s perception of herself and how others perceive her, the way that perception influences her actions, and how that perception was developed.

I have a bad habit where I always feel the need to one-up myself, especially since I’m always learning new techniques and ways to do things, so I tend to want to incorporate all the things I learn into everything. With Beau, though, I wanted to keep it simple. “I’m a simple girl, simple needs,” to quote her introduction. I think Beau is very simple, on the outside, and I wanted the physical box to reflect that veneer of simplicity. Everyone always underestimates her, thinks there isn’t much more to her than a girl who has a problem with authority. So the box is plain, only decorated on the outside with the Cobalt Soul symbol, and yet the contents are varied and complex. (I love a good extended metaphor haha)

One of the reasons I struggled with Beau was her lack of concrete imagery at the beginning of the campaign. While I appreciated her simplicity from a fan standpoint, it was tough to come up with motifs to fit the box. I really wanted to reference her frustration with not being able to see in the dark and how much of a game-changer her Goggles of Night were. My first thought was a glow-in-the-dark message since I was having a hard time finding something more concrete, and even though I eventually did find a perfect pair of miniature silver goggles, I still wanted to include a glow-in-the-dark element, which ended up meshing perfectly with her jade All-Seeing Eye tattoo.

I painted the tattoo in the inside lid and added a clear, matte glow-in-the-dark paint over the top. You can see in the photo below how it looks in the light and in the dark! It’s one of my favorite parts of the box :)

Stones:

I wanted to stick to the Cobalt Soul color scheme of blues and greys as much as possible, so I wanted to use as many blue stones as I could. For a focus stone, I picked a gorgeous electric blue apatite tower. Apatite clears away guilt, confusion, apathy or negativity and helps expand one’s intellect and desire for knowledge and truth. It also represents positive use of personal power to achieve goals, encouraging you to accept yourself as you really are, and to gain greater self confidence. What I thought was interesting about this stone is that the meaning of the word Apatite relates to the Greek word 'apatao', which means 'to deceive'. Now, that’s probably due to the stone being mistaken for other minerals, but I thought it fit well with Beau not being easy to read, people thinking she’s shifty or lying even when she’s being honest, and her troubles with outwardly showing genuine emotions.

I also included a tiny Jade owl to represent wisdom, balance, perspective, and learning to be comfortable with showing your true self (and because I, too, wish Professor Thaddeus could have been Beau’s awesome owl sidekick).

The rest of the stones in the box are:

Fluorite- focus, intelligence, aids in meditation and helps with finding peace with oneself

Labradorite- transformation, becoming, being more true to who you are, help banishing fears/insecurities while enhancing faith and reliance in oneself;

Aquamarine - courage, freedom, and communication

Honey Calcite- clarity of insight/action, confidence, intellectual power

Rose quartz - forgiving oneself, learning to accept love, alleviating fear and sorrow/resentment

Blue aventurine - moving past trauma/letting go of emotional baggage, endurance, help saying what you mean, inner strength, passion/determination, gaining control of anger and emotion, using it to help you

Hematite- grounding, cooperation (fighting in cooperation with spellcasters), fighting up close and personal (associated with martial artists), help talking your way out of situations

Tourmalated Quartz- hardness/tough exterior, help when feeling trapped/cornered. provides security when there is fear of failure, courage and self-acceptance in the learning process. Help with self sabotaging. Good for discipline and meditation. Help dealing with anger/self loathing/bitterness

Sodalite-help being less critical of oneself and help calming internal conflict

Celestite- clarity, intuition, and openness to things out of your comfort zone (also divine energy as a reference to Caduceus’ Holy Weapon spell)

Potions:

There are 6 potions, each labeled with a number on the bottom. The first three are in the photo below, in order from left to right:

The first potion is centered around Beau’s perception of herself, and how that’s been influenced by her interactions with others. Inside the bottle are lemon balm and basil for self hatred, peony for shame and anger, yellow carnation for disdain, heather for solitude and only being able to rely on herself/carry burdens herself, marigold for feeling like she has to constantly fight to prove herself worthy of love (“love you have to fight for”), nettle for insecurity and perceived insincerity, pine for low self worth, lotus for rebelling against authority, purple hyacinth for guilt/feeling like she has to apologize for being herself, and yellow hyacinth for comparing yourself to others/not thinking you’re special. Sealed with silver wax and a lotus flower stamp with blue pigment.

The second potion is a direct contrast to the first, dealing with other people’s perception of Beau and how she really is. There’s acorn for wisdom despite youth, sunflower for wisdom/loyalty, nutmeg for intelligence/wit, cedar for resilience and strength, pansy for thoughtfulness, thyme for loyalty, affection, attracting the good opinion of others, and courage in the face of adversity, gladiolus for strength of character, faithfulness, and honor, and dogwood for deep devotion and keeping confidence. Sealed with silver wax and a sunflower stamp with blue pigment.

The third potion represents the Cobalt Soul and what it means to Beau at different points in the campaign. At the beginning, the Soul is just another cage, someone else trying to impose their will on Beau, but as the story goes on, her goals and theirs start to line up. Dairon is the first authority figure we see give Beau a real chance while also managing to earn her respect, making the Cobalt Soul something that Beau can be a part of instead of something she’s trying to run from. In this potion we have tarragon for struggling to regain independence, chamomile for shedding outside influence, anise for using knowledge as power/to protect yourself/to get what you want, gum arabic for meditation, lilac for wisdom/memory/unlocking potential, rosemary for mental alertness/perception, violet for guarding against deception, lily for freedom and no longer feeling trapped, green tourmaline for calming the mind and increasing abilities/confidence, chrysocolla chips for empowerment and adaptability, and jasmine for appreciation, calming, and developing confidence. Sealed with silver wax and a Cobalt Soul stamp with blue pigment.

The next photo shows potions four through six, in order from left to right.:

Potion number four represents Beau’s past and how it affects her life currently. Before meeting the Mighty Nein, Beau grew up with parents who constantly tried to make her into something she wasn’t; her criminal background was a direct result of Beau rebelling against that control, and we see throughout the campaign that her intense distrust of authority figures still follows her wherever she goes. As time goes on, she does do a lot of growing up and letting go, and yet the way she was treated in the past still informs many of her present decisions and actions. In this potion, there’s lavender for ingrained distrust and problems between parent & child, dandelion for overcoming hardship, sage & cypress for grief and loss, amaranth for help recovering from trauma, black salt for being controlled/told what to be, yellow rose for betrayal, yarrow for regaining agency, mint for trying to atone for the past (Specifically, her guilt and criminal background vs. adopting Molly’s philosophy of leaving places better than you find them after his death), and barberry for freeing oneself from the power/control of another. Sealed with silver wax and a rosemary with blue pigment.

The fifth potion centers around Beau’s fears and struggles (fear of people leaving her, of not being good enough, struggle with being friendly/charismatic, being soft, struggle with presentation). There’s rue for regrets and obsessing over past mistakes, poppy for carrying a traumatic period in your life with you and letting it affect your actions, hydrangea for apparent aggression and being “bad at people,” cinquefoil for desire to be eloquent/wise/self confident, snapdragon for feeling like she has to lie because that would be better than being herself, gardenia for difficulty trusting others/letting people in, violet for importance of outward appearance (being in control of your own presentation and aesthetic and how important that is for Beau), amethyst for fear of being abandoned, garnet for help shedding guilt/sharing burdens, redeeming oneself, and struggling with responsibility (taking so many of the M9’s failures as her own personal responsibility). Sealed with silver wax and a fists stamp with blue pigment.

The sixth and final potion deals with the people around Beau and how she grows by learning lessons from others, both members of the Mighty Nein and the people they cross paths with. Just as in all the rest of the M9 boxes I’ve done so far, there are cloves for camaraderie and being improved by friends, one for each member of the group. There’s also red carnation and basil for brother-sister bonds with Caleb and Fjord, skullcap for willful commitment (found family), zinnia for remembering absent friends (Molly), sweet pea for chaos and adventure (in particular the Jester-Nott-Beau “chaos crew”), magnolia for loyalty, rose quartz for learning to accept love, and bluebell for friendship and slowly growing to be comfortable with being more truthful/open with people. Sealed with silver wax and a rosemary stamp with blue pigment.

So before I even got a box for Beau, I knew there had to be ball bearings in it. There are about a hundred, minus any that managed to escape while I took this picture :)

In the tiny blue pouch, there are gold coins for Beau’s role initial role as group treasurer, along with aforementioned ball bearings, a worn out old Circus flyer, and a set of 21 miniature Major Arcana tarot cards - the 22nd card, the Moon, is in my Jester box. Attached to the tie of the pouch are a silver pair of goggles with purple lenses to represent her Goggles of Night.

Also in the box are Beau’s staff, and her super secret book of important monk notes. Tucked into the book’s closure is a tiny hand-stamped coin with one of my favorite serious Beau quotes, “I don’t want us to drive each other away.”

Vampire! Joshua

Genre/Warnings: fluff, historically incorrect probably, mentions of religion that are purely because of this supernatural au, cursing

A/N: surprise :p i was kinda feeling inspired bc this is a superior concept sorry it’s not a request :( but i really hope you guys like this! it’s been a minute since i’ve written something, i hope i portrayed joshua correctly too - admin seri

1800s poster church boy

until he fell in love

or so he thought

he was strumming his guitar at choir practice

sitting at the side while the nun yelled at the girls, a usual day at the church

and he looked up at the sound of the doors opening and saw her

immediately he’s fascinated by things he’s never cared about before

it was like just the flutter of her lashes made him swoon

poor unsuspecting Joshua Hong, didn’t he know what compulsion was

for a month after, people said he changed

he quit choir and began chasing after this one girl

as were many other men, as they were all too blinded by the compulsion to realize, him included

but she liked him best, it was the only explanation, because why else would she

he remembers that night, dressed in a tux as her date to one of the many balls she was invited too

being pulled into one of the many secluded rooms by the tug of her nimble fingers on his tie

feeling the soft touch of her lips

feeling the pain of her teeth sinking into his bottom lip

she seemed to take great amusement in watching him pull back in horror

she bit down on her own lip, hard

he watched, horrified as the blood dripped from her lips while she smirked

and she kissed him again in his frozen state

next thing he knew he was laying on his bed with a terribly sore neck

left with only a short, vivid scene of her baring her fangs and wrapping her hands around his neck

she was gone and so was the compulsion

he looked into the mirror, ran his hands over the puncture wounds on his neck, and hissed at the pain of a new set of teeth growing

it didn’t take long for him to realize he needed to escape town

it also didn’t take long for him to meet another vampire

Choi Seungcheol offered him an understanding smile and handed him a ring

from then on, he was with Seventeen

becoming a vampire killed any belief Joshua had in god

he was even the ‘I've read the entire bible five’ type, but then again what else was there really to do

there wasn’t much he could say about the topic now, the evidence was clear

however, his knowledge made him the absolute perfect candidate for his role in Seventeen

because where there’s a small, close-knit town, there’s a church

prominent members of the community reside in the church

and they know all the dirty secrets

all he was to do was wiggle his way into the church slowly as the young, pleasant man offering to play the guitar during mass

getting along with all the kids

become the major’s kid favorite

shaking hands with the major as he grins ‘shyly’ when the major dotes on how much the kid loves him

sly, sly Joshua

his job, primarily, is to make sure none of the town leaders catch on to the recent rise in animal deaths

and that no other vampires left any loose ends or some people suspicious

and especially make sure as hell there aren’t any vampire hunters

so he’s at choir practice with a guitar at his side, smiling softly at the nostalgic sight of the kids singing

til he smells a familiar scent in the air and turns to see Jun

“What are you going here?”

smiling brightly, Junhui points, “the kid my girl babysits gets to play this weekend”

“she’s adorable” Joshua looks to the little girl standing next to the piano bouncing on the balls of her feet

“yeah I am,” Jun’s girlfriend buts in cheekily, “thanks Josh”

he hums nonchalantly, “no problem”

while the three of them settle to watch the practice, Jun leans in and whispers, “so any updates?”

“one lady, she’s on the council and is always asks me about our living situation whenever we talk. it’s obvious she’s skeptical. I overheard her talking about the deer Vernon forgot to bury last week too”

“are you going to compel her to stop?”

he shakes his head, “no, she’s been so adamant, it’ll be too suspicious if she suddenly stops caring”

“what are we going to do?”

he shrugs and gives a reassuring smile, “I’ll figure it out”

later that evening, he finds himself at a council member’s dinner party

the amount of dinner parties Joshua has been to is astonishing, it really felt like they had nothing better to do with their lives

so in his dress shirt and slacks, he greets everyone with a shake of the hand or a polite hug

secretly wanting to just down ten glasses of champagne because that’s how utterly unlikable the council members are

managing to escape, he finds himself in one of the many hallways of the mansion and spots a lone figure

Joshua watches as you examine the picture frames in close detail, as if you were looking as to see what color shoes each person was wearing

slowly, he takes light steps towards you, standing behind to take a look at the frames himself

you feel a strange sensation, like that unexplainable feeling that you’re being watched

so you turn your head

“Jesus fuck!”

you stumble a couple steps away from him

how could you not even hear his footsteps

despite your loud exclamation, he remains cool and only smirks

“saying God’s name in vain?” he shakes his head mockingly

you huff, gathering your composure, “I wouldn’t be if you weren’t being so creepy”

seeing him simply shrug and turn back to the frames, you scowl

“who even cares about that anyways,” you mutter under your breath

“never said I did,” he smiles at you calmly

a very unmannerly snort rises from you, “geez you just keep getting creepier and creepier”

he chuckles, “Joshua Hong, nice you meet you. you can call me Josh.”

how he hasn’t been the slightest put off by your unfriendliness, you don’t know

“Y/N L/N”

for the first time, you take him in, finally noticing how insanely handsome he is

in fact, he seems perfect

seeing as you let a little bit of your guard down, Joshua asks, “so tell me about the pictures”

“if you really want to know, Joshua“ you tease, emphasizing the ‘ua’, “this is my family”

he looks at your impassive expression, noticing the way your tone becomes lifeless when you talk about them

“this is your house?”

you smile bitterly, “yeah, it’s nice right?”

shaking his head he exhales, “I don’t know seems kind of lonely”

you eye him with a look of surprise and he laughs

“I live with twelve other guys and I think that’s the only way you could fill a house like this”

seeing you crack a smile, he grins triumphantly

“twelve guys? that’s an odd arrangement”

“it works”

lifting his finger, Joshua points to one of the pictures, “where’s this at?”

“the woods just outside of town, that’s my family and the major’s family camping, we go every year”

finally getting to what he came here for, Joshua says, “you guys probably heard of all the animal deaths in the forest then huh”

you sigh dramatically, “not you too, seems like the whole council is obsessed with it these days”

“oh?”

oh fuck

the chances of this town knowing about vampire seems very high

in a town where a couple families have been in control since forever, those families passed down the secrets

he’d have to ask Wonwoo for more history

“I can’t believe my parents are making me join the council, I don’t know what about turning twenty-one suddenly allows me to handle city politics”

he makes a note of that and chuckles, “mmm yeah, seems more like a clubbing night instead of an inauguration”

you reach and nudge his arm naturally, “that’s what i’m saying!”

“another thing also,” Joshua raises his brows amused and tilts his head towards the champagne glass in your hand

“what are you a saint,” you can’t help but smile, “okay holy one, take it from me”

he almost bursts into laughter at the irony

simply just clinking your glass with his, his eyes sparkle with a playful gleam, “cheers”

after getting your number, which you will never admit you happily gave him, you both start to talk

from daily conversations simply about each others day

to both of you dying when the conversation leads somewhere completely random

you honestly just think, like wow, when has your adult dating life ever been this successful

but Joshua, when he first found out about you and your family, his only thought was how useful the information you had could be

though he’s being honest with himself, you had him since that dinner party

not head over heels compulsion type of attraction

just your tough snarky demeanor, no doubt because of the way you were raised

and the way it fell into a giggly mess meshed with sarcastic comebacks as if you weren’t just laughing your head off

and even if you pretend to be cold-hearted sometimes, you’re the first one to give someone directions or to pick up their fallen papers

“clearly you like her” Jeonghan laughs, entertained by his close friend’s struggle

“I know that much” he chortles, “Y/n likes me too”

“and you haven’t made a move because? there’s only so many coffee runs and choir practices you guys can use as an excuse”

Joshua stares into the moon from his spot on the rooftop, realizing it must’ve past midnight by now

“today is Y/n’s birthday, they’re going to tell her today”

“well didn’t she invite you to her dinner party?”

his lips twitch remembering you ranting about it to him, complaining about the formalities of it all, how you really didn’t want all the council members and their snotty kids, no matter how cute, at your twenty-first birthday

you had reached over and tapped his arm, letting your hand graze against him, “looks like it’s your job to make it worthwhile”

arriving at your mansion, he’s dressed in his best suit and clutching a bouquet of flowers

he can smell your distinct perfume getting closer and closer to the door and smiles softly when you pause in front for a few moments

you’re feeling just as nervous as he is

“Josh” you greet, finally taken to calling him by his nickname

“you look lovely” he says warmly

he reaches for your hand, bringing it up his lips tenderly and presses a kiss

eyes never leaving his, you breathe deeply

“old-fashioned” you mumble, hoping your twenty-one year old self isn’t seriously blushing right now

“i prefer romantic but you’re the birthday girl”

you glare at him playfully, “hey only i’m allowed to be cheeky today”

he lets you lead him around the house, pointing out all the elaborate decorations your parents had set up

he really tries his best to pay attention, but the entire time all he can focus on is how he’s going to break the news of being a vampire to you

for a moment he even thought he could hear his heartbeat but stupid, his heart doesn’t beat

you ended up giving him a tour of the entire house with the pool as your last stop

grabbing his hand, successfully sending sparks up his arm, you lead him outside

he doesn’t let go

“at least the weather is pretty today” you hum, purposely not talking about your hand in his

“looks like the guests are starting to come”

you both can hear the sound of guests chattering and expensive cars beeping

“just let me be alone with someone a like for a moment”

before he can show you any type of reaction you let out a tiny giggle, and use your intertwined hands to tug him closer to you

“do you like me too?” your eyes hold a teasing glint, already knowing the answer

“yes, i do like you” Joshua says firmly

you become serious at his sincere and determined expression

“so what have we been waiting for?”

Joshua sighs, unknowingly gripping your hand tighter

“I feel like I should tell you something first, and if it doesn’t work, I need you to forget it”

“okay”

there were other ways where this could’ve gone smoother, but this information never is smooth anyways

“I’m a vampire”

he watches you cautiously, hoping he wouldn’t have to compel you to forget, because that would really mess with his heart

your serious expression falls into a blank one and he almost isn’t sure that it’s you gripping his hand tighter or the other way around

you let out a shaky laugh, “since when were you so dramatic”

“what-”

you cut him off, “that was a bit easier to process than i thought”

“than you thought?“ he questions incredulously

“Josh, I found out about vampires when I was 16. I was a pretty sneaky teen so do you know how funny it was for me to pretend this was new information this morning to my parents?” you grin mischievously, ignoring his dumbfounded expression

“so what about me?”

“you Joshua Hong,” you tap him on the nose, “aren’t as subtle as you think, I’m just smarter than you I guess”

recovering from his surprise he smirks, “all this time, I was worried about you feeling betrayed, but now I do”

he pulls you closer, letting the hand not holding yours fall on your waist

you roll your eyes and stare up at him, realizing how utterly smitten you are with him

“just kiss me already, and please no fangs”

Blog 7

During class we talked about relationships and why we form them. I am going to relate all my examples to my current boyfriend. The first reason we form relationships is because of appearance. I wouldn’t be with him if I didn’t find him attractive. I know that there are people out there that believe you don’t have to like how someone looks to be with them, and that personality is most important. I do believe that personality is incredibly important. However, if you look at your partners face or make eye contact and feel a spark of excitement, I don’t believe that the relationship can last. I would agree that as the relationship progresses that physical factors become less important. ZZ Top wonderfully and truthfully sings, “Every girl is crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man.” The longer I am with someone, the less they and I feel obligated to dress up for on another, or in my case, put on less or no makeup. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like to do that anymore, we are just more comfortable with ourselves and don’t have to impress since we are together. The second reason we form relationships is because of similarity. My boyfriend and I have our differences in personality, but there are many similarities that are important to our connection. We are both talkative, outgoing, curious, adventurous, caring, and trustworthy. We may butt heads sometimes because we are both very opinionated, but I think that is one of the things that makes us able to grow and learn from each other. My ex-boyfriend had a struggle to communicate because I would always ask him how he was doing, but he wouldn’t ask me. I had to pull words out of his mouth and prompt questions for us to have conversations. It makes me feel good when my boyfriend wonders about how I am just doing just as much as I wonder about him. Other similarities between us include our career goals, friend group, and music taste. It is very convenient that we have the same major because we are able to have many classes together and get to work on homework together. Connected to this, we have our little study group with other friends in our class and we all hang out on the weekends. Music is incredibly important to me. I have been in choir since fifth grade, am in an a cappella group, and play the guitar, piano, and ukulele. Connecting with my partner through music is essential, and luckily, we listen to similar music, or are open to new types and genres. The third reason we form relationships is because of complementarity. I see us showing this trait because we have the “work to our strengths” mindset in our relationship. We are also very supportive of each other in all our work and activities, which helps. The fourth reason we form relationships is because of reciprocal attraction. My boyfriend and I present this concept through complimenting each other on how we look, or our work ethic. This boosts both of our self-esteems. The fifth reason we form relationships is because of competence. This kind of goes back to working at our strengths. My boyfriend may be much better at building computers compared to me, but I am much better at math than him. Then, with us being around each other we can teach these strengths to one another. The sixth reason we form relationships is because of disclosure. Through disclosure, my boyfriend and I have been able to get much closer. He has had some similar family experiences, and we were able to connect through sharing them. We also have similar opinions on certain politics, values, and ways to approach others. These deeper conversations help strengthen the relationship because we trust each other with the information we share, but also respect each other if we do come across some differences of thought. The seventh reason we form relationships is because of proximity. This makes sense in my relationship because we are always studying and have many classes together. He is one of the people I hang out with the most, so I have gotten to know him better than most. The eight reason we form relationships is because of rewards. Yes, my boyfriend and I each have our quirks. However, the costs are nowhere near the amount of rewards from our relationship, so there is a positive outcome. The important thing to remember is that I am in this relationship because I chose to be. We could account for all of the above, but ultimately if I had said no when he asked me out, there would be no romantic relationship. During class we also talked about maintaining interpersonal relationships, specifically what kinds of communication help keep relationships satisfying. The first type is positivity. We don’t exactly always try to avoid criticism, since we are trying to constantly better each other. However, our time is always upbeat, and we see the good as well. The second type is openness. I am not afraid to talk about anything with him, whether it be about our relationship or something personal. The third type is assurances. We are constantly reminding one another that we matter and are there when the other needs. The fourth is social networks. I have not had the chance to meet his parents yet, but he has met mine. Both of us are extremely family oriented. I have met his friends and he has met a few of mine. I love introducing him to everyone that means something to me, because he means a lot to me. The fifth type is sharing tasks. It is funny how well we mesh. Things that I am good at, he isn’t, and vice versa. This makes is easy to split chores or obligations equally amongst each other. Or, if we are both good at something, we work on it together to get the work done faster than if we did it ourselves. During class we also talked about social support. The first type is emotional support. I have shown emotional support to my boyfriend when I was there for him as he was very anxious and stressed about an internship interview for the summertime. I made sure to keep his outlook as positive as possible and calming him since there was so much riding on the internship. Another type is informational support. I gave my boyfriend informational support when recommending some birthday gifts for his younger sister. I also gave him informational support when giving him great websites that explained calculus concepts clearly. That class was the biggest struggle for him. The third type of is instrumental support. I expressed this support when my boyfriend had an important school meeting to go to, but also had to drive his sister to volleyball practice. I told him to take of the meeting business, and that I would drive his sister to practice. One more example of when I used instrumental support was just recently actually. He loves gardening and was looking to start getting his backyard ready to plant his sprouts that he had started in his kitchen outside. As he was cleaning up the dirt and weeds to be clean for planting, I went to the store and bought some supplies like twine, tomato cages, and some pest control products.

In Steve’s line of work, referrals were the key to finding clients. One couldn’t very well put out a flyer advertising mercenary-type services wherein sex (or at least the promise of sex) might be used to extort information or carry out an assassination. More importantly, however, referrals gave him a minor measure of security, in that there was a six-degrees-of-separation element to the identity of his customers. He had begun his career by working for people he knew and trusted, and they in turn recommended him to others. And because the initial sources of the recommendations were reliable, he could feel more or less at ease in taking on new jobs.

It was for that reason, along with a general bad feeling in his gut, that he was currently preoccupied with mapping out an exit strategy rather than engaging in formal pleasantries with the group of well-dressed men seated around the table.

“I’m sorry – but how did you hear of me again?” Steve asked.

The group’s apparent leader, a tall, fit man in his fifties who identified himself as Ian Markova, waved away the question. “I should think that would hardly matter, considering what we’re offering you.”

Steve begrudgingly agreed. Under most circumstances, he wouldn’t have consented to a meeting with guys like these – mafia types, by the look of it – but he could easily retire on the compensation they were proposing.

“Fair enough. What’s the job?”

Markova nodded to the younger man sitting on his right. Steve was handed a manila folder, which he opened to discover the photo and dossier of an Interpol agent.

“Daniel Williams,” Markova introduced. “Graduated with a major in Criminal Justice at Seton Hall, top of his class at the police academy, and generally acknowledged as a rising star in the law enforcement community. Over the years, he’s worked for a variety of government agencies as a top notch investigator. Two years ago, he was recruited by Interpol, where – presumably – he is still currently employed.”

“Presumably?”

“The nature of his job requires him to be constantly on the move and on guard. Much of his personal history has been expunged in order to protect anyone who might be affected by his work, and very few can confirm his current status.” Markova fixed Steve with a haughty grin, and his dark eyes shone with malicious humor. “I, of course, am one of those few.

Steve frowned and closed the file. “And what exactly would you like me to do?”

Markova folded his hands on the table. “From what little information we’ve been able to gather, Agent Williams’s propensity for switching jobs so often may have also been due to prejudice, aside from his obvious talent for solving difficult crimes. He has been openly bisexual since his college days. And you,” he gave Steve an admiring once-over, “have both the looks and the skills necessary to get close to him.”

“And you know all this – how?”

“Never you mind. The situation is this: Agent Williams has been, shall we say, interfering in my business affairs. I could have him eliminated, naturally, but I think he could prove very useful, given the right incentive. What I would like from you, is to find me some leverage. Seduce him into giving up something I can use to secure his cooperation. Complete this small task for me, and I will pay you the sum we spoke of - half up front, and the rest after you deliver.

Markova extended his hand. “Do we have a deal, Mister McGarrett?”

“McGarrett. McGarrett!”

“Hmm, what?”

Daniel Williams – Danny, as he preferred to be called – shook his head in exasperation. “I said – what do you want in your coffee?”

“Oh.” Steve glanced at the self-serving refreshment station in the hotel lobby, wondering if they had any organic butter on hand. He doubted it. “Surprise me.”

“Black it is, then.” Danny handed Steve a plain coffee in a disposable cup and sat down on the opposite end of the couch, facing him. He turned his attention to the papers he’d left laying between them, all of them written in various eastern European languages.

“So, what are we up to today?” Steve asked.

Danny shot him a half-hearted glare, and Steve fought a grin.

Over the past several weeks, Steve had arranged enough chance encounters with Williams, subtly experimenting with different personas and hitting on him, that Danny eventually gave up trying to ignore him and instead began to invite him along whenever he went out to run errands or complete other daily activities associated with life. But every so often, Danny would disappear for several days, or he’d receive a call during one of their “dates” and would instruct Steve to drive his rented Camaro to some out-of-the-way location for a covert meeting. Steve would then be forced to wait in the car while Danny spoke with someone on a disposable cell phone (a new one every time) or talk to a thin figure who consistently kept his or her back to Steve at all times.

While Danny’s clandestine operations, not to mention Markova’s frequent and increasingly impatient demands for a status update, kept him on edge, Steve had to admit that he was actually enjoying himself for the first time since – he couldn’t even remember.

Danny had this strange way about him that made him equally infuriating and endearing. He had strong opinions about everything under the sun, from what was an acceptable topping on pizza to music to the ocean, and he had no qualms about sharing them in a remarkable and highly entertaining fashion. He had a sharp tongue and an even sharper mind, quick with a joke, but just as quick with his fists (a fact Steve discovered when he’d pushed Danny too far and was rewarded with a right cross to the jaw).

But more than that, Danny was kind and compassionate. Steve witnessed it first hand when he “accidently” stumbled upon the agent in the aftermath of a raid. He had been in the crowd gathered around a police barricade, watching in horror as Williams and the local police breached an abandoned building, only to exit moments later with malnourished, dirty and obviously abused children (victims of human trafficking) in tow. He’d watched as Danny brushed the frightened tears off a little boy’s cheek, and draped his jacket around the shoulders of a nearly-naked girl.

And once the smoke had cleared and all of the kids had been taken to several area hospitals, he had tailed Williams to a gym and watched him wail on a punching bag until his knuckles bled.

“Well, for starters,” Danny answered, setting aside his files, “Maybe you’d finally like to tell me something about yourself, something other than just your name and a bullshit backstory.”

Steve put a hand to his chest. “You wound me, Danny. I’ve told you TONS of stuff about me. Why do you keep calling it bullshit?”

Though they’d achieved something resembling a real friendship, neither of them had been forthcoming with anything significant. Steve continued to repeat the cover story he’d designed to attract Danny, who in turn talked and ranted in circles while never actually revealing anything beyond superficial details.

“Because it is,” Danny said. He made himself comfortable against the cushions and laid his arm across the back of the couch. “I’ve learned a lot about you over the last few weeks, and none of it meshes with the crap you’ve been spouting.” Strangely, he almost sounded hurt.

“Yeah? Let me guess – you’re one of those cops who run background checks on all of his dates, am I right? Pray, enlighten me, officer. Did you find something to contradict everything I’ve told you so far?” Naturally, Steve assumed that Agent Williams would do his homework, but he had plenty of useful connections, including a hacker capable of revising Steve’s history to match whatever narrative he required.

Danny shook his head. “Okay; first of all – no. I did not run a background check on you, though in my line of work, that’s well within my right. And second, I am a detective – agent – whatever, and a damn good one. It’s my job to read between the lines and sort out the truth.”

“Okay, detective. You think you’re so smart?” Steve scooted closer and stared him down, his lips curved in a challenging smirk. “What have you learned about me?”

“Well, let’s see.” Danny placed the tips of his fingers to his temples, mimicking a psychic about to perform a reading. He took an over-exaggerated breath. “You either grew up in, or spent a significant amount of time in Hawaii.”

Steve’s smirk faltered.

“Swimming is your preferred method for staying in shape.”

Steve willed himself not to fidget.

“You have a dog, even though you’re more of a cat person.”

The smirk vanished altogether. “How…?”

“You’re ex-military, probably U.S. Navy; your father is no longer alive, and you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which I’m guessing you haven’t sought any sort of help in addressing.” Danny lowered his hands. “How am I doing so far?”

To say that Steve was dumbfounded would be an understatement, so much so that he didn’t bother to contradict anything. “I – how could you possibly know all that?”

Danny sighed and met his glare. “I also know that you’re incredibly thoughtful and gentle. Those who are lucky enough to call you ‘friend’ would describe you as deeply caring and loyal to a fault. And, in spite of this playboy act, you’re a hopeless romantic who desperately wants a family of his own – one that will never forsake him.”

Steve crossed his arms and scowled. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Danny inclined his head slightly and lifted a shoulder. “You can deny it all you want, but we both know I’m right.”

“You keep accusing me of being dishonest and cagey, but you haven’t exactly been forthcoming yourself.”

“Fair enough.” Danny studied him in silence for a moment. Then he nodded to himself, as though he’d made some sort of decision.

He leaned to one side and reached into his pants pocket, pulling out a glossy piece of paper folded into a square. He offered it to Steve.

“What’s this?” Steve straightened the paper.

It was a photograph of two children, a teenage girl with long, brown hair, and a young, blond-haired boy with a wide-toothy grin.

“My kids,” Danny said. “Grace and Charlie. They’re the only good thing to have come out of my failed marriage.”

“They’re beautiful,” Steve answered sincerely. He returned the picture.

Danny gazed at it, a sad smile on his place. “My ex got custody of them in the divorce. Then she got remarried to this real estate developer who’s been constantly moving them around the United States. The only way I could keep up was to study and work my ass off to become a good investigator so that I could qualify for a job with the FBI, and later Interpol, which gave me the freedom to relocate with them.”

He carefully placed the photo back in his pocket. “What sucks is that my current case poses a significant risk. I can only video chat with them over secured lines at random intervals. I haven’t gotten to hold them in over six months. And even before this whole debacle, my ex-wife has been fighting tooth and nail to bar me from visitation. She thinks that if she distances them from me, it’ll hurt them less in the long run if I get killed in the line of duty.”

“That’s – I don’t even know what to say. Sorry, I guess.”

Danny smiled a little in thanks. “That’s why this will be my last case. Once I wrap this up, I’m going to quit and find some place stable where I can put down roots. I’ll retire from law enforcement; maybe open a restaurant or something. And once I’m settled, I’m going to sue for shared custody.”

Steve could hardly believe what he was hearing. On the one hand, he’d just been handed the exact type of leverage he’d been paid to uncover. Clearly, Danny would do absolutely anything for his children; probably even cooperate with some less-than-savory characters to keep them safe. All Steve had to do was excuse himself, call Markova, tell him about Grace and Charlie, and he could sail off into the sunset with a full bank account.

On the other hand, Steve wasn’t the type of guy to put kids in danger under any circumstance. More importantly, how could Steve betray Danny after such a massive display of trust? If he was being perfectly honest with himself, he had grown to like Danny very much. In spite of the lies, they had real chemistry, if not enough for a relationship, then at least they might form a good friendship.

Then again, that point was moot. One way or another, Danny would learn the truth about Steve. And when he did…

One of Danny’s phones rang, disturbing Steve’s introspection and Danny’s quiet observation.

“Yes? Okay. I’m on my way.” Danny hung up and gathered his files. “I need to go. Duty calls.”

Steve stood up. “And I suppose I’m not allowed to come along?”

“Sorry babe.” Danny got to his feet and took a few steps closer to Steve. “You busy on Friday?”

He mulled it over. “I’m not sure yet. I have some – uh – stuff to take care of.”

“Okay. Well, I’ll check in with you later.” Danny hesitated. Then he leaned up and gave Steve a peck on the lips.

Steve blinked. “What was that for?”

Danny grinned. “Meh. Just felt like it.” He left without another world.

Steve raised a hand to touch his lips. It was a hardly a real kiss, certainly nothing to blush about, and yet Steve could feel his neck growing warm.

Oh god; he was so screwed.

March Forecast for Pisces

You’re back! The Sun is in Pisces until March 20, meaning it’s birthday season for you. A dynamic duo that’s been heating up over the past six months could become official. Or, since full moons can also signify endings, you might decide to amicably part ways. From colleagues to S.O.s to best friends, this is a perfect moment to take inventory of your most important ties and get back in sync with each other.

A high-flying idea could get called in by air traffic control between March 10 and July 8, when expansive Jupiter turns retrograde in your visionary ninth house of travel, risk-taking and entrepreneurship. Jupiter has been in Scorpio since October 10, 2017, which kicked off an adventurous 13-month cycle that inspired you to throw caution to the wind. 40. Any special memories? Do they have a special place they like to go to?I think the way Eli proposed is a memory they’ll share. He’ll never forget how nervous she was when she found out about their first child--he still has the ultrasound picture in his wallet. Their special place to be with each other might sound boring to most, but they just like being home together, because for them it is a rarity.

Cinq & Shaundi

4. First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?Not necessarily love, but there was probably some lust at first sight. Cinq always appreciates a well-built woman, which Shaundi was, and I think Shaundi was attracted to him as well.

6. Any tasks that are always left to one person?Cinq tend to let her handle the electronics, and to a point he tries to keep her out of the line of fire--but only in part because she’s important to him. He also knows that Shaundi is one of the Saints most valuable resources and he doesn’t want to squander her talents on some dust up.

11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?Yes, all of the above. Even stupid little holidays like cherry cheesecake and grilled cheese day.

20. What does their home look like? Their room?Once they start sharing a space, it is a mix of his sleek style and her more comfortable one. The leather bed and slick black furniture is set off by plush chairs in a deep shade of purple. So there is a mix of decadence and opulence in their bedroom. And it’s surprisingly neat and free from clutter.

36. What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?I think their greatest strength as a couple is the fact that they fill in the places where the other is lacking. Cinq can be smooth, but he doesn’t always leave a good impression. Somehow, Shaundi can manage that and more. Their weakness is probably based on the fact that he’s a little over protective and she’s headstrong. The two traits don’t mesh well and it create friction.

38. What are they like in the bedroom? Any kinks/fetishes/turn-ons? Anything they won’t do?Even with as much as he trusts Shaundi, Cinq won’t allow her to completely restrain her and he’s not into abusive talk--that actually will rile him and ruin the mood. Other than that, these two are pretty open to just about anything. Shaundi loves to be teased, which Cinq indulges in. Cinq is a bit of a voyeur--he likes watching Shaundi on her own, and loves to watch her when they are together. Luckily, she seems pretty keen on the save a horse, ride a cowboy idea.

43. Do they talk often? What about?They do talk a lot. While most of their conversations in a day are about “work,” in the bedroom that topic becomes off limits. They talk about little things there--the last game of skeeball she played, the band at the club the night before, the fact that some idiot threw up on his brand new loafers. It’s just things and stuff, nothing weighty.

8. What do the like best about their partner?I think one thing they all have in common that they like a great deal about one another is their openness.

11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?Holidays not so much, but they do celebrate anniversaries.

16. Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat?Johnny is keeping a secret from both of them, and several from Matt. None of them cheat on one another. But I do think all of them lie to some degree, even to one another.

22. Does their work ever interfere with the relationship?Occasionally. Though they don’t really bring their alien overlord fighting into the bedroom so to speak. Their relationship is usually a place of relaxation, release, and solace from the stress of fighting for their lives.

30. Could they manage a long distance relationship?Oh, no. I don’t think they could. I’m pretty sure that would be more than any of them could stand, except maybe Johnny and he’d only probably work that hard for Ravi. He loves Matt, but I’m not sure he’d get into the whole cyber thing, though he could pull off and deal with phone sex, I think.

44. Are the comfortable with each other? Anything they have to have their privacy for?They are all very comfortable with one another. Johnny would be the one to say far too much so, because according to him, a man needs to be able to take a shit in peace.

Remy & Matt

5. Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes?Oh, there’s kind of a joke centered around Matt trying to convince her to give him five minutes. There are nicknames Matt would like to be called, but that only happens rarely, if at all. And Remy is a nickname.

10. Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public?Driving: RemyCooking: Neither--though they can both make a few thingsHandiwork: Both--depending on the type of work neededCleans: RemyPays the bills: Matt--I’m sure he wrote a bot for thatHandles the public: Remy

18. What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?They didn’t date prior to the Zin invasion, so a lot of their “dates” tend to center on cuddle time or sex in one or the other of their quarters, and occasionally, elsewhere. They haven’t really gotten to a point of needing a break from one another, unless Remy drags Matt into the sim, then there are moments where he just wants to leave because he doesn’t get the same thrill she does from combat situations.

As for the how long? I don’t honestly know how long they are together overall.

24. Any doubts about the relationship?Remy has more doubts than Matt and all stem around her lack of experience with relationships. She’s only been in one other and it was a horrid one. That one didn’t offer a chance to learn anything more than not to be in a relationship like that again. She actually took the lesson to the extreme until Matt and never really had an actual relationship.

Matt’s doubts spring from Remy’s in a way. He’s had a few and knows that communication is key, but Remy tends to keep her own council which leaves the pair of them scrambling sometimes because she’s not always immediately forthcoming about things. It can sometimes leave Matt wondering where he stands in terms of their relationship.

32. Do they ever get into trouble? Is it serious, or are they just mischievous?Yes. Both. Sometimes there are pranks and silliness. But they’ve been stranded on new planets together. Nearly been killed more times than I can count. And their relationship goes through some rocky points due to silly misunderstandings, as well as some deeper concerns.

35. Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw?I think Matt brings out some better and more hidden parts of Remy’s character. She can be kind of gruff, but she tries not to be that way with him. I’m not sure if it is a fatal flaw, but their age difference is a little strange for both of them from time to time. If I had to say, I think the only fatal flaw in the relationship, at least in the boss’ opinion, is Remy, herself. She really does think she’s all wrong for him, and that he deserves someone more like him, and someone who’s not so much trouble.

45. Any special dreams or goals they have as a couple? Any heartbreaks? Regrets?Matt regrets that he didn’t have the gall before the Earth ended to attempt something with Remy. I also think Matt might just be harboring pipe dreams of a family with Remy, though I don’t think he’s brought it up to her.

Wei Sheng & Lin

3. Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection?At first, no, and that trend continued through the move to Steelport. Then it became more open-ish. But Lin wanted it to be known that she was her own woman. She never wanted anyone questioning her or her place at the head of the Triad in Stilwater (yes, that’s what happens after she survives the Rollerz attempt on her life). She has no doubts about Wei Sheng’s opinions of her, but it is the others that concern her, given the cultural expectations that are pervasive in the Triad. While she proved herself, like any man in the organization has, her place isn’t as solid as her uncle’s had been.

Before the Saints there was no issue with PDA. Once she was infiltrating the Rollerz, their relationship went underground, and there it has stayed since. It does place a limit on public displays of affection, but they deal with it.

13. What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?Given the fact that their relationship has been sequestered, they are big fans of ordering in something extravagant and watching a movie together. Sometimes it’s curled up on the couch, sometimes it’s more upscale. But that’s their main thing.

19. What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?One thing they fought about was just how far Lin was willing go and just how hard she was pushing to get information on the Rollerz. Wei thought she was going a little hard at it, tried to convince her not to rush the job. It’s a bit of lecturing and raised voices, perhaps a little yelling in Chinese.

When it comes to making up it can range from heated kisses because Wei won’t leave without a kiss even if she’s pissed at him, and that usually can diffuse the situation. Other times it’s a little more tender--cuddling, nuzzling, whispers, and soft kisses.

23. How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort?They hug like it’s a goodbye, even when it’s hello--like they might never see one another again and they don’t want the last embrace they shared to be lacking in anyway. Wei always loops one arm tight around her waist, and pulls her tight against him.

Wei Sheng showers Lin with kisses--her shoulder, the back of her neck, her eyelids. I’m certain that at one point or another he’s kissed every inch of her body. Outside of sex, Lin limits her kisses to his mouth or cheek/temple.

Lin’s flirtations are mostly in her gestures--touching her neck, tracing her collar, running her fingers down his arms. Wei’s are generally in the looks he gives her, the things he whispers in her ear.

33. What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?Wei likes to lavish surprises on her--everything from tools to unique and custom jewelry. Sometimes they are things she needs. But more often than not they are the things he happens across incidentally, the ones that remind him of her that he ends up picking up. He’ll do it whenever he sees something, though it’s just as possible that he’ll forget the holiday coming up and just give it to her the day he purchases it.

Lin is a little different. Her gift giving is more structured--holidays, birthdays, anniversaries. And she usually buys him a weapon of some sort--swords, guns, knives, things of that nature. It helps that he is a connoisseur and collects them.

39. Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first? When did they realize they were in love?Wei Sheng initiated the relationship. He thought she was beautiful from the start. She rebuffed him because he approached her like he might any other girl. They finally got to know one another, and it was only then that his interest was returned at all.

The way their relationship started set Wei up to follow Lin’s lead, which is why she kissed him first. Wei Sheng realized he was in love first. Lin took much longer, in fact I think it’s possible that she didn’t realize quite how she felt about him for certain until the grief of losing him struck her.

42. Do they let each other get away with things that would normally bother them?No, not in the least. Wei will grump at her when she gets grease on his jacket and she nearly shot him once for stealing one of her cars. He called it borrowing. She did not see it that way.

hi! sorry if this is random or if it's a sensitive thing, but do you no longer ship aoka? id on't know if you already explained it somewhere already and i understand it was because of the reposters. i guess i just feel a bit sad since you have always been my favorite aoka artist... but you like something else now and draw more of that than aoka. i'm really sorry, i am glad that you are happy, just a little sad you have left us ..but! i understand you put priority in your own interests.

I’m sorry if I disappointed you; it wasn’t my intention. T__T;; Err, in a way to explain myself: when it comes to shipping, I become attracted to pairings that reflect what I’m seeking at the moment. When I was in aoka, it was that desire for companionship but friendly competition. But now, my situation has become a lot more stressful, so I find comfort in the niji/aka dynamic now. _(:3

So…yeah, I got some asks like this here and there wanting to know the full-full story, so I guess I’ll just c/p what I told someone else. I mean it’s not really exciting just dramaaaaaaalallama.

“what did you mean when you said you were in a weird place with ao-kaga?”

It’s a complicated subject since it has been a few years, but I’ll do my best to simplify it! It mostly had to do with the community less than it had to do with the pair themselves!

To start, I always had trouble integrating with tumblr fandoms. I had always drawn in small communities so it was overwhelming when suddenly a lot of eyes turned on me. ^_T!! I wasn’t used to getting more than 20 notes on my art, and then I was left with things in its hundreds.

That is to say, my ego was fed and grew too big. I became stubborn about certain things (like topping preferences and character portrayals; tho now I’ve become more flexible w/ it*) and I had bad encounters with several people from the fandom. (Both parties were at fault haha;; Though objectively looking at it, it was more because of my big head;; orz)

I also felt that because of my past actions, and not to mention several family tragedies caused me to be on the edge more than usual, the rift b/w me and the community has grown farther.

The people who I used to fangirl about aoka with eventually left; some of them started being aggressive and unhealthily competitive with me (in terms of art);; There were huge misunderstandings, yada yada, yeah.;

so…^_T I guess those bad experiences made it hard for me to integrate into another aoka circle. And there was only so much I could have drawn on my own;. Since I sort of lose that close circle of friends and feedback, I drifted I guess. (coughs at tsubasa.)

I don’t regret aoka! I loved it so much; it was just unfortunate I wasn’t able to mesh well into the fandom because of my immaturity and some other unfortunate incidences. ;v;“” I think I will always be passionate about them, but aah, I think for now a break is in order. But, honestly, it’s really easy for me to fall in love with them again.

Here’s something of a secret, I was going through my aoka doujinshi collection with the intent on selling them off. After reading several I got sucked back in lol, and I couldn’t bear to sell away my beloved doujinshis. (I also still collect several artists’ works.) I always wander, but there’s always a 70% chance I’d be coming back ww.

and yea, reiterating with the ships and what I’m attracted to; I like this new ship bc I see myself in Akashi; so many expectations shoved on me, reprieve is really nice in those cases. orz;;;

Yeah;; just don’t mind me skjfh;; I really just do what I like orz… even I can’t predict myself…

But I really appreciate everyone’s patience with me.;; _(:3

I’ve been trying to grow as a better person, but sometimes my life situation just really affects my fandom interactions. and it’s just been really stressful lately orz;; so I’m sorry if I’m not as open or talkative or very prickly as of late….;;;;

I guess I should've made it clear that I mostly meant fanfics when I said that. I just didn't read what I didn't like. While I'm chill with people who liked aoka as a switchship or as a ka/ao, I just didn't read the fics. I started aoka with pixiv comics, so when I journeyed into fics for a while, I backed out of it quickly when I didn't agree with the characterization. It was mostly me not reading people's stuff. (Which, for some reason, someone called me out on it and said that I was a hypocrite?? for writing fics but not reading other people's stuff.) I guess you can call me a hypocrite or someone who was too proud I guess.... _(:3;; I just kind of saw how it wasn’t my cuppa;
