a hug post | By Nevi Ayu E.
그냥 잠깐 안아줄까요 우리? 너무 많은 일들이 있었잖아요, 오늘. 그러니까 그냥...
Should we just hug each other for a bit? There were too many things that happened today, so let's just...
Hug! This is a hug post for you. You have worked hard living and surviving up until today!
This drama has a lot of 데칼코마니 decalcomanie (k-tweets use this term, so I'm just gonna use it too haha) scenes and dialogues, which I love love love, parallel scenes where they do stuff that resemble each other, say similar things, and ask and answer, on different scenes. And on this scene, Haejun kind of responded to Yoonyoung's words on a much previous scene, where she said: If we can't go back to before we know each other, then there's no such thing as square one. To which, Haejun "answered" after this hug: 모르는 사이가 되는건 원치 않으니까 Because I don't want us to become strangers.
Dialogues taken from Korean drama My Perfect Stranger (2023), written by Baek Soyeon.

World Cup schedule vs when Cheer Up is usually airing:
Mon (Nov 21) - World Cup will air 10pm KST
Tues (Nov 22) - World Cup will air 7pm & 10pm KST
Mon (Nov 28) - World Cup will air 7pm & 10pm KST
These are the only games that overlap with their primetime (7-11pm KST), all the other games are in the middle of their night through Dec 19. So it looks like we will only be one week without the show, and then Cheer Up would return Tues (Nov 29).

random thoughts about strong girl nam soon, episode one (pt 1)
(read more because i always get carried away lol and this post might contain spoilers)
i'm gonna start this post by saying the only reason i wanted to watch it was because of lee yoo mi (i've seen her name romanized that way so i'm going to write it like that) i really liked her acting in squid game so when i saw her in this drama, i went for it
i like the opening song. very epic and suits the super power theme of the drama
right after the opening credits, we get several shots of a gorgeous scenery. i know this adds nothing to this post but i like to point things out when i think they're pretty
and then right after we get a few seconds that made me dizzy because the camera was twisting and turning. maybe to indicate what was about to happen in the next shot?
and then BAM! we get introduced to nam soon with a fight scene
the way she was introduced was very funny i'm not gonna lie. we see this very strong and tall man waiting for his opponent and then... 8/9 year old nam soon arrives (estimating her age because it wasn't specified in the show)
what i just described to you is one of the many many comedic moments in this drama. i'm a sucker for comedy, especially when it's in a show that isn't focused on this genre. as you'll see, i'll list some other moments further down this post
seeing her fight with ease reminded me of astérix when he drinks the magical potion so bonus points for that
i was scared for a moment that the show won't explain how nam soon disappeared but it was explained several minutes later (her father wanted to travel and take pictures of her in mongolia and that's how she disappeared, she lost herself and was then welcomed into a mongolian family)
talking about how she disappeared brings us to her parents and how they're trying to find her. on one hand, you have the father (mr. gang) talking to a journalist and try to make nam soon's story known in case she's already in south korea. and on the other hand, you have the mother (ms. hwang) taking extreme measures to find nam soon: holding a world's strongest girl tournament, buying every single newspaper because nam soon's story was about to be forgotten. you can see how both parents have very different methods of trying to find their daughter and i think that's interesting, especially given how they're portrayed. which we will see in further points.
let's go back to our main character nam soon. how is she doing in mongolia? she's having quite the peaceful life with her parents. that is until her picture is being taken as the winner of the fight contest that we saw her in at the beginning of the episode. i don't know if the authors wanted to play on the words but it's funny how the flash of the camera brings her literal flashbacks of her childhood in sk. and then she gets random memories of her childhood from time to time (hearing voices, dreaming about her family, singing the song her father used to sing to her when she was younger etc.) that's during one of these moments that she remembers her real name: nam soon and not tsetseng (idr if that's how it's spelled) and decides that she'll go back to sk with her biological family. but still, she wants to help her mongolian parents (i'm sorry idk how to name them other than 'her mongolian parents') raise money and then she can go back.
the last part of the previous point is one of the numerous examples of how love is depicted in this drama. i'll explain this in more detail at the end of the post (let's hope i remember)
so far, what we've seen of nam soon's life is her parents' memories of her and how she lived in mongolia. what we can say about her biological parents is how they're very different, almost polar opposites.
this show has portrayed ms. hwang (nam soon's mother) as this very strong (duh!), independent, hardworking and smart woman. the way she made every single business she owned into a gigantic company is a feat in itself. she takes the lead both in her work and her romantic life. she met her (now ex) husband mr. gang (nam soon's father) when she opened her first restaurant and she took matters in her own hands (literally). she dated him for a while and then she proposed and made him a househusband. she'll take care of the money and he had to take care of the house and kids.
while ms. hwang is very strong and independent, mr. gang is the definition of a himbo. i just don't have any other words to describe him i'm sorry but his face should be the definition of the word 'himbo'.
now that we've got to know the parents, let's now take a look at how they're reacting to nam soon's disappearance. seeing their reaction was very interesting to me because, with the way they're portrayed, you wouldn't expect this reaction from either of them. the strong independent and clever mother is at the verge of insanity and is reacting to this situation very emotionally. howevern the father seems more 'distant' and efficient in his way of trying to find nam soon. i would've expected the other parent to react the way they did. it's almost like they're switching roles.
/!\ of course, you'd expect parents to go crazy and panick when their child disappears. i'm not saying this isn't a normal reaction to have to such news. it's just that the mother seemed so strong and very smart that you'd expect her to think logically and try to keep calm in this situation. however, her mind is all over the place and she is thinking erratically. i expected that kind of reaction from the father seeing how he's the more 'sensitive' parent. /!\
while i expected another reaction from both the parents, i think i understand why ms. hwang is all over the place. as we know, for 500 years, the women in the family have had super strength. however, nam soon's strength has surpassed everyone's ever since she was a child. there are a lot of expectations on her shoulders and i think ms. hwang wants to both continue the lineage of super women and work with nam soon on how to work with her strength.
going back to ms. hwang's very erratic response to her daughter's disappearance. she's so adamant on finding her daughter that the second she sees that girl from yanbian managed to hold all those weights without budging (i suspect some cheating with the help of one of the staff/judges that worked there), she's sure that girl (hwang ja) is her daughter nam soon.
however, like the grandmother (i didn't write her name sorry) pointed, everyone in sk is able to know nam soon's story because ms. hwang has made it her mission to talk about her daughter's story on the newspaper she owns. and that includes very personal details that little ms. cheater hwang ja could have gathered while reading said newspaper. nam soon's mother didn't think about that and i know this will bring her some trouble in the future.
with that said, i'm curious to know what the hwang ja situation will evolve into.
i said i would talk about all the depictions of love shown in this episode and i'm keeping my promise (yay who's proud of me?)
there are so many i don't know where to start... i'll just start with her biological parents' love. the worry and the fact that both her biological parents hold hope that nam soon is still alive is enough proof that they both love their daughter.
her 'other parents' (for lack of a better word) also show nam soon a lot of love. they welcomed her into their family even though they didn't know where she came from. they treated her as their daughter, educated her, taught her how to work with animals, but most importantly they listened to her. they didn't know where she came from (and were honest with her on that fact) and they believed tsetseng when she told them she came from sk and had to go back there to meet her family and build one of her own. they knew they had to let her go, even though it hurt them. they still let her go because that's what she wanted. they even sold all their sheeps just so they could afford her plane ticket. seeing their scenes together brought me so many emotions :')

could we maybe possibly get a kissing hcs pt3 with the y7 gang?
pretty please 👉🏻👈🏻🥹
But of course u can, sweetie anon. Headcanons below da cut, might be some mild NSFW below but nothing too out there.
Part 1 can be found HERE | Part 2 can be found HERE
Ichiban Kasuga
Sweetest kisser, honestly. Just very tender and playful as a whole. It's most common for him to kiss you on the cheek or forehead.
Saves kissing on the mouth for when you two are alone, as it's a very special thing for him.
Blushes like hell if you initiate any form of kissing with him. Weak for neck kisses, just FYI. Do with that what you will.
Yu Nanba
Not the most physically affectionate of the Ichigang, unfortunately. It's mostly because he's shy though. Mostly gives you a kiss on the cheek either as a greeting or as a goodbye when he has to go do something.
He's seldom horny but you'll know when he is because he will want to kiss you on the lips a LOT. If he's really going for it all of the sudden, it's almost entirely because he wants to get it on.
Loves when you give him a kiss on the top of his head or on his forehead. Makes him feel so small and cared for.
Adachi Koichi
Out of everyone in the Ichigang, he's the most likely to use a good old fashioned kiss on the lips over any other form of kissing. Why knock a tried and true strategy?
Will give you a kiss on the back of your hand when he's feeling playful or if he's joking around. Also loves to just nuzzle your neck sometimes. Yes, it does tickle a little because he usually has some stubble.
If he's horny, he won't let you know with kisses. It's usually his hands that do the talking.
Tianyou Zhao
Can only be described as a drive-by kisser. Type of guy to just plant a kiss on your cheek, lips, or even on the tip of your nose as he's just walking by you. Loves leaving you flustered.
Unlike most of the boys, he kisses with tongue regardless of how horny he is so you can't use that to gauge his mood. But would it really be Zhao if he made it THAT obvious? Even at his horniest, he's too much of a tease to give it away with just a kiss.
If you initiate a kiss with him, he has to, in his words "get you back". He's like the tickle monster but with kisses. Like you can kiss him whenever or wherever, he loves that. But you are getting kissed back almost immediately.
Joon-Gi Han
Absolutely the softest kisser on the planet. Not exactly what you'd call sweet in the same way Ichiban or Daigo is but he's very delicate. Softest lips in the Ichigang too.
He's got that whole featherlight anime/kdrama first kiss vibe going on. Might feel like you died and went to heaven for a few minutes after the first time he kisses you.
Having said that, his kisses are the biggest most giantest tell when he's horny because he will suddenly be VERY aggressive. Tongue and biting included.

This Week in BL - Characters Voice Our Frustrations
March 2023 Wk 2
Tumblr media
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 4 of 8 - I love these two so much. King is so utterly in love with this boy. I like that this is one of the first BLs I’ve ever seen where sex is depicted as a coping mechanism. Is it healthy? No..ooo..? But it is different. It is phenomenal to see King depicted as sensitive enough to realize that something is wrong with Uea, despite his desire. (FYI all the triggers on this show forever, I’m gonna stop naming them now)
A Boss and a Babe (Fri YouTube) ep 2 of 12 - The flirting is cute. The stalking is not. There’s a Kdrama tone to this pair’s dynamic. I don’t know why I feel that way, I just do. I mind it less this week than I did last week. Cher is a funny, kindly chatterbox and a FIERCE flirt. But not a tease, as it turns out. His poor boss does not stand a chance. Interesting pacing, this is awfully early for a kiss in a Thai BL. I like GMMTV doing these generational discussions around gayness and society, even if this version is more on the nose than Moonlight Chicken.
Tumblr media
The Promise (Thai WeTV & YT) ep 2 of 10 - I’m still enjoying it but I want there to be a good reason for parting with no contact for 10 YEARS, but I do not trust Thai narratives to satisfy in this regard. A drunk kiss is NOT a good enough reason. Oh HI BOSS! (What’s Zabb Man) you so pretty, I like the earrings.
Tin Tam Jai (Tues Gaga & iQIYI) ep 2 of 12 - Oo. There’s only one bed trope. Also queer over achiever expectations. I’ve only seen DBK address this one. Well done little pulp. The tsundere seme admitting that baby boi was his security blanket was so flipping cute. But this show is leaning into taboo stepbrother stuff. So if that wigs you out, avoid. I, however, am enjoying it. Queer fam and local neighborhood kid dynamic is cute. This is more slice of life than drama, not much is happening, but I’m okay with it.
Pastsenger (Thai Weds Gaga) 1 of 12 eps- Stars Marc (My Gear & Your Gown) and Cooper (My Engineer) in a time travel paranormal that smacks of HIStory 5. Sunshine 90s kid travels to 2022, goes to university, encounters grumpy nerd. I cannot STAND the music. Pratfall... into intentional kiss? That’s new. Of course it’s a dream. I like the 90s mentality and language rep, but I’m not sold on the show.
Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - I guess we got the backstory? Did it explain stuff? Sort of. This is still a pretty incomprehensible show. And then a random cute (+ ALL the BL tropes) date, and then “but actually I am still in love with my dead lover.” I’m so confused by characters, plot, pacing... everything.
Our Winter (Thai & Korea YT & TikTok under ThaiMiniSeries) eps 10-11 of 14 - they remain as TutorYimmy in the snow as they are out of it.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Our Dating Sim (Korea Thurs Viki) eps 1-2 of 8 - THIS SHOW IS GOING TO RUIN MY LIFE IT’S SO GOOD. Reunion romance featuring popular smart boy + shy art queer. It’s ridiculously adorable. What do I do? It’s SO CUTE.
All the Liquors (Korea Thurs Gaga & Viki) eps 3-4 of 8 - I like the shy chef with the crush, but I wish we knew why he doesn’t want to sell booze.
Jack o’Frost (Japan Fri GaGa) ep 4 of 6 - Jealousy + manic pixie dream boy + pregnant pauses + great acting = Japan doing its thing.
Tumblr media
It’s Airing But ...
Love Syndrome (Thai Sat WeTV) ep 2 of 10 - I’m just not into any aspect of it (except fucking Lee Long Shi and I can watch him in Tin Tem Jai) saving to binge if the ending is okay.
Blue Sky Complex (Japan ???) 5 eps for VR - Kei Ichikawa's manga is getting a JBL adaptation. Weird distribution though, it started Feb 27 sequentially on 360 Channel (SHOCHIKUch) a VR video distribution service. Will inter-fans ever get to see this, and if it’s filmed for VR will it adapt without being overly dark and fuzzy? I have questions. But as usual, you do you Japan and we will wait (im)patiently to see if you remember the rest of the world exists. This is my preferred kind of live action yaoi, so fingers crossed:
Boyband (Thai) ep 2 of 10 - Stopped airing on YouTube, and only available in Thailand & Japan. Not sure if they’re working a distribution deal or just fucking with us.
Cafe In Love (Thai ???) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff.
Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV Thailand) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. Same as above.
Heesu In Class 2 (Korea Thurs unknown, I check Viki Gaga iQIYI & WeTV nada) - A gay(er) version of Sex Education. I’m still not sure this one is actually happening.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tomorrow: Future (Thai Sun YouTube & Gaga?) 5 eps - Based on a y-novel by Faddest (En of Love - yeah I didn’t know that was based on a novel, either). About, you guessed it, an engineering student and a dentist. Maybe this will be the FOTS we were all hoping for? Fuse (the engineering student) is played by Boom from the En of Love and is kinda the same character (Field). I think we can expect this one to be soft, it’s from the 21 Day Theory people. (maybe March 19 international)
3/14 A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Tues Viki & Gaga) 7 eps (?) - Adaptation of Dongmul's manwha, high school set, features a teasing confident gay, and a rich/poor pairing, about homophobia/gossip putting a scholarship in jeopardy. Star idols Jaehan & Yechan BOTH from OMEGA X, a first for the industry.
3/17 Unintentional Love Story (Korea Fri iQIYI) 8 eps? - Ji Won Young is intent on winning over the heart of Yoon Tae Joon as he's the boss's favorite artist. Stars idol Gongchan (maknae of B1A4).
Full list of upcoming in March 2023 is here.
2023 forthcoming BL master post. (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED)
The Department of You Said It For Us:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You speak for ALL OF US honey. (Am I the only who keeps seeing KarnNut in these roles?) The Promise
Tumblr media
I’d put in the gif but the giffmaking children of tumblr are sadly lacking in the unfettered genius that is Grosse Pointe Blank.
Tumblr media
Chains of Heart reviewing itself.
THIS WEEK’S BEST MOMENTS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GMMTV continues its 2023 Apology Tour. (Boss & Babe)
Tumblr media
King (Bed Friend) might be stealing Consent King title from Win.
(last week)
Current Kpop earworm? Hidden Side from HWANG MIN HYUN (aka Minhyun of Nu’est & Wanna One RIP) - with few exceptions I’m not usually into the visual, but this is a terribly catchy song. And the poor thing has been awfully unlucky with his groups, maybe his solo and acting career will take off?

Darts (OrKa scenario)
Orter x fem oc (my oc Rinka) my friend helped make the shipname :D
Feel free to imagine it as a x fem reader tho if you want. (Gotta encourage y'all to write more)
Anyways I'm too lazy to write it properly I got inspired by too many manhwa scenes and that one kdrama called Nevertheless well the ost mvs atleast so here you go:
_ _ _
Rinka and Orter are at Joe's again but instead of opting to do the monthly endurance drinking game that he won 24/25 times. He suggests a different game.
"Darts?" - Yeah. (fyi idk how darts work so this is like not accuratteeee)
The gist of it is that whoever hits the lower target has to drink a shot and that after x number of rounds, whoever has the higher score winsss and gets a favour from the loser. And if you've read the fandom wiki - Orter is god at darts.
Oh yeah and this is without magic too so Rinka's garbage at it. "How do you do this without magic?"
"Let me show you."
They're both pretty comfortable with each other (I mean they're like fake dating dating out of convenience) and too concentrated on the game to really take a moment and consider how close they were with each other. Like the sides of their heads were practically beside each other with his arms guiding hers. They both don't notice it even when she gets her first tiny win (the dart actually hit the thing) in an ocean of fails.
I'm telling you they're oblivious to the fact they ACTUALLY like each other romantically. Nobody even points it count because THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT THEY'RE IN LOVE. (It's genuinely stupidly effective that Kaldo, someone who knows Rinka really well, can't spot the half-lie.)
Rinka's like tipsy at this point (they played like a bunch of rounds) but thinks she can keep going with the drinking.
So Orter wins obviously but he doesn't utilise the favour straight away like she did. (Not yet published EP 7 moment)
He's saving it for when it's necessary to use because she's pretty accepting when she trusts that person to doing stuff.
They head back to his office and like: the two heavy drinkers were now officially drunk.
Orter's open about his feelings/thoughts he sounds more like a flirt/clingy lmao while Rinka's shy (her usual persona is more like a cool older sister type, so her being shy/hesitant which is more in line with her as a teen is like partial truth.)
So mannerism switch from the typical OrKa interaction.
Orter brushes out some loose strands from her face (hairstyle is now down and free) and she's like not used to the feeling of being the center of attention still.
"Don't be startled when I say shouldn't hide yourself. You're pretty" She's taken aback by this (yeah bro has never stated she was pretty, it's a big deal). "Not even a thank you? You're too humble for your own good."
"You're starting to sound like Ryoh."
"How so?"
Lists their similarities until he's like right at her face and she's like super conscious of him. Bro's eyes feel like they're looking right through her which wells up more fear in her than expected.
But it's still calming.
They get interrupted by a phone call by Renatus that a super important corpse went missing.
_ _ _
Extra thought/crack interaction:
Drunk Rinka: Oh god what the hell is he doing up in my face? Does he know... he shouldn't know how would he know AAAAAAAAAAAA
Meanwhile, Drunk Orter: I WANNA KEEP HERRRRR! SHE'S PRETTTTTYYYYY AND FUN!!! I LIKE HER AROUND!!

Lee Je Hoon's Chief Detective 1958 starts today. Can't wait to watch! I enjoyed him in Taxi Driver and really want to watch through his filmography eventually.
Lovely Runner is knocking my socks off! Byeon Wook Seok and Kim Hye Yoon are killing both the comedy and the drama. Wook Seok is the cutest loser in love! The mystery and unexpected twists are fun and interesting. I hope this quality storytelling continues. I'm on the edge of my seat.
I only have 3 episodes left of Love Me Love My Voice which has been wonderful and heartwarming. I love the main romance but the friendships and secondary romances have been given ample time to shine as well. I'm always here a good found family. I really like how the dramatic readings and song perfomances have been carefully woven into the story to further the character development. Definitely recommend.
Now we come to our debrief on The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. Whoa, what a rollercoaster. The first half was interesting with many characters' selfish and dark intentions mixed with a little mystery were set up in contrast to our optimistic, self-sacrificing female lead. However, the second half drowned in major events happening and then being dismissed as if they never happened, multiple secret keepers refusing to tell the secret multiple times an episodes even when asked point blank when the answers could stop so many bad things from happening, and the existential dread I felt about what the big reveal was going to be only for it to completely dismissed. (FYI I found out what I thought was going to be the big reveal IS the actual reveal in the darker Japanese version it's based on.) After episode 14, I wasn't sure I could continue watching the show. But after a night of uneasy sleep, I decided to finish it the next morning on double speed to get through it. I did watch the last 10 minutes at regular speed. While there were some well done things about their relationship in the second half, it couldn't save the show for me even though I went in knowing this was not an HEA. Overall, I was just left feeling angry and exhausted. As a Seo In Guk fan, this was a show I had long wanted to see, just to find out what my opinion on it would be. I'm sad that the SIG fanmeet has been post-poned, hopefully I will be able to make the next date. But this means I feel okay to stop my SIG show binging so I will not be watching Hello Monster anytime soon. I'm actually impressed with how much of SIG's filmography I've already seen (7 shows as a ML, 4 shows as a cameo, and 1 movie). I'm pretty sure it's more than I've seen any other kdrama actor or actress.
After a bad experience at the new dentist yesterday, where the hygienist manhandled my teeth and they tried to upsell me on services, I was in need of a comfort rewatch. I've been thinking alot about Lee Jun Young lately and decided to break out the first thing I ever saw him in, Imitation. I was only going to watch a few favorite parts from an episode or two and ended up binging my favorite parts of most of the series. lol I really hope his upcoming Cinderella romcom with Pyo Ye Jin is going to be good.
I slowly picked Vigilante back up again this week and was excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk's character finally emerge to add a boost of energy and chaos to the story.
Now that I've got some time and the second half of the series has finally dropped, I will continue watching Chae Jong Hyeop's Eye Love You.

So, I'm one of the rare person that watch the not-so-popular kdrama, The First Responders (2022). I love crime drama, and this drama is about how police, fire fighter and paramedic working together so this drama is definitely in my alley. So, FYI, the drama is split into 2 season with first season's ending is a total cliffhanger.
And the season 2...
Oh my the season 2.
The episode 3 totally killed me in the worst way possible.
Why did you do this to me, script writer?
---- SPOILER ALERT -----
Dojin died.
He died.
He is the second male lead, and even, the second MC. But he is dead so soon...
I cried my eyes off last night.
I don't think I ever cried that hard because of character death in fiction story before.
FYI, Dojin's actor is one of my favorite actor and Dojin himself is my favorite character in this drama. I'm all into the friendship between the Bulldozer and Jin Dog, especially because Detective Jin needs someone who can match his pace and his way of thinking.
But Dojin died.
Heck, I can tell how shaken up Detective Jin is.
He is so close of being best friend with Dojin and that happened.
Let's cast aside the ridiculous love triangle, because I know Dojin and Detective Jin don't compete for Sol's love at all. Detective Jin is too messed up to even think about love, Dojin is too soft-hearted to beat Detective Jin on it and Sol has her hands full with handling two suicidal coworkers.
And now, I can't even imagine how Sol and Detective Jin's love story will continue. It is too painful now without Dojin at their side. They are so wholesome as a trio, they work so good together and they need each other.
Gosh, how will this story continue without Dojin, honestly I can't tell. There should be around 9 episodes again right? How Detective Jin cope when he needs to rely on fire fighters if Dojin isn't there?
How will the story from the fire fighters' side continue without Dojin?
Can I even continue watching without Dojin there? Oh my, I don't know honestly.
