#it’s a technically-ya novel with really fucked up mechs and giant monsters and political schemes and revenge. #and canonical queer polyamory and brutal torture (related to the revenge! :3) and so so so much fucked up shit. #it feels like a violent ‘fuck you’ to darling in the franxx’s extreme gender essentialism while pulling on different themes common to other #mecha anime. with motifs and characters pulled from chinese history and mythology. and it’s REALLY GOOD. #very much a book for me. i am a grown-ass adult but i am nonetheless the target demographic for this novel. #(it’s not a book for everyone and i don’t expect ALL of you would enjoy it. but it is very very much a book for me.) #hilariously. it is actually kind of a ‘fuck you’ to darling in the franxx. this is mentioned in the acknowledgements at the end. #v speaks!

Well firstly, he's gay so I think that's partly why. But he also has a tendency to either demonize or idealize not only concepts, but people, in his songs. The women he sings about are either the romantic pure woman or they are cautionary tales of fallen women, leading him like a sacrificial lamb into debauchery. His songs tend to be moral plays that have a woman that is either a Madonna to be idealized or a whore who tempts him to sin (the madonna/whore complex). Though towards Dangerous his songs began to embody sexual passion (still with an underlying contemptuousness for women), as he strove closer to his idealized vision of European values. He presented his surgeon with a reference picture of Peter Pan and told him to work his magic (no pun intended).
