lost phineas and ferb episode where perry is called to investigate what dr doofenshmirtz is up to because carl the intern got ahold of some intel that doof has been seen speaking to lawyers and looking up the endangered species act at internet cafes and as major monogram says, "something fishy is going on"
meanwhile phineas and ferb's subplot of "i know what we're gonna do today!" is that isabella needs her environmentalist fireside girls badge so they start researching which species are in urgent need of help in the tri-state area so that they can use new cloning and gene therapy technologies to bring at-risk animals back from extinction
(yes there is a c-plot where buford and baljeet argue the ethics of this idea, i don't have time to explain it all for you rn)
we cut back to🎵doofenshmirtz evil incorporated🎵where we see perry carefully maneuvering around doofenshmirtz's lab scared he might fall into a trap but he hasn't set off a single booby trap and it's clear something is off
he runs into doofenshmirtz and goes to kick him in the gut action movie style but doof steps back one overly confident and says, "nuh uh uh, you see perry the platypus, you are TRAPPED! by the danville section of the endangered species act of 1973!"
doof goes on to explain his tragic backstory: "you see, perry the platypus, when i was a child my parents did not show up for my own birth! but you know that already, yadda yadda yadda they did not love me and then they loved roger more, ANYways i was raised by ocelots! i had a lovely foster mother who took me in and made me one of the pride, and so you see, perry the platypus, i am still legally considered an ocelot. did you know that there are only 50 recorded ocelots still alive in the continental united states? very sad for me as a member of a near-extinct species. it would be immoral for you to hurt someone critically endangered... in fact, you have made many attempts on my life this summer"
[montage of doof's security camera footage of their battles]
"which is why i have decided to bring you... TO COURT!" we cut back to phineas and ferb's back yard where they've decided to start cloning ocelots in their kiddie pool
candace storms outside enraged and says, "phineas and ferb are you cloning ocelots in my duckie momo kiddie pool!?"
ferb's one line of the episode is "well, i guess it's more of a kitty pool, now"
candace storms away saying, "i'm going to tell mom!" and isabella turns to phineas and says, "oh, does your mom have experience in wildlife conservation?"
we cut back to the doof and perry plotline where the two are now in the danville hall of justice and we learn that doof has spent his monthly alimony check on a defense lawyer and perry turns and sees the lawyer and then vanessa helping her organize her briefcase and perry chitters at her and vanessa shrugs and says, "i'm thinking about going into legal defense. sorry perry."
the rest of the doof and perry b-plot is spent in court and perry is about to ask for a public defense lawyer when carl runs into the room and explains that he's owca's official legal defense and perry looks at him like, "uhhh is that even allowed?"
it doesn't matter because apparently the judge is out sick today but because it's danville roger's the judge now because he's the mayor and everyone loves him.
the court case continues.
meanwhile phineas and ferb have successfully cloned multiple ocelots from the original ocelot dna they had on hand and isabella asks phineas if these clones will experience health problems like premature aging, phineas casually explains that ferb figured out the problem while they were experimenting with stem cell harvesting.
back in the courtroom, doof's ocelot foster mother has been brought to the stand along with an ocelot to english translator. doof gets emotional seeing her after so long. she says that he was one of her favorite child and he was as strong a hunter as anyone else in the family. it's incredibly sweet. the jury's in tears.
meanwhile, isabella has established connections with a group in texas who are going to release the ocelots back into their natural habitat and, using the cloned ocelots to prevent inbreeding, help establish an ocelot breeding program. the group explains that they are going to send a helicopter to retrieve the cloned ocelots from danville and bring them to texas soon.
isabella gets her fireside girls badge.
candace manages to get mom to see the backyard only after the ocelots have been helicoptered off to coastal texas, their primary habitat.
mom makes it into the backyard as phineas stares wistfully over the fence and says, "if you love something, you have to let it go." candace goes, "look mom look look look!" and points at the ducky momo kiddie pool, devoid of cloned ocelots, where baljeet and buford are now chilling out, having settled their philosophical debate about the ethics of animal cloning.
back in the courtroom drama, doof looks like he's about to win when an attendant walks into the courtroom and whispers something in roger's ear.
roger looks up, grinning, and says, "good news, everyone! my attendant here has just enlightened me that ocelots are no longer considered critically endangered!"
this settles the case, with perry being decreed not guilty and the entire affair being called off. the courtroom cheers, roger walks over to doof and personally congratulates him on his species' return from the brink of extinction.
doof shouts, "curse you endangered species classification system!" at the ceiling of the danville hall of justice.
perry arrives back home just in time for mom to say, "who wants pie?"
the end.

Hey I love your right is so I don’t have words to describe but I now yo have a lot of hope baby sister but they adorable that I have to ask if you could do one we’re she is only 5 months and only what to be with Hayley and Klaus and Hope but if any of the others pick her up she starts to cry or get cranki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Favoritism
Tumblr media
Baby female Mikaelson reader x Hope mikaelson (+family)
Warnings: None, just whole bunch of fluff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Klaus bounces you in his arms while he walks into the courtyard of the abaittoir. Your rested against his chest with one arm wrapped around you and his other hand resting on the back of your head.
You move your gaze to everyone sat in the room. Hope is sitting beside Elijah on the couch, Freya is in an armchair, and Kol is in the other armchair.
Klaus civily greets his siblings and Hope, grunting when his phone starts to ring in his pocket. Taking his hand off your head, he pulls the phone out of his pocket. Marcel's ID contact shows on the screen. Sighing, Klaus answers the call.
He turns back around to face the four others, "I have to leave, seems Marcel has gotten into a bit of a dilemma" Klaus tells, not going into any detail. Everyone nods, Rebekah deciding to tag along with her older brother.
Klaus swiftly passes you to Kol since he was the closest to his younger brother.
After your dad leaves, Kol and you are just staring at eachother from where you're secured in his arms. "What?" Kol asks you (not expecting an answer), noticing how your gaze is not shifting off of his face.
You start squirming in your uncle's hold, wanting to get out. Before long, the squirming turns into tears running down your tiny cheeks.
Kol's eyes widen, not knowing what to do. He's never had any experience with this. Like at all. He was surprised when Klaus passed you to him in the first place.
Soon the tears turn into full on crying. Panicking further, Kol's eyes widened more than before and brings you against his chest to try and rock you like he's seen Hayley and Klaus do a bunch of times. It's doesn't help at all, at anything, it only makes you more worked up than you previously were.
He looks frantically over to his older siblings, "help!" Kol exclaims as he sees that they were just sitting there, staring, while he's now trying not to cry along with you.
Elijah stands from the couch and walks over. He bends down and picks you up out of Kol’s arms and into his own. Bouncing you in his arms and using the same techniques he's used with all his younger siblings and Hope when they were younger doesn't work. It only seems to have made you even more cranky than you were before.
Seeing the panicked face on her uncle's face, Hope stands up. She has a smidge of an idea about what's happening, but wanted to see how long it take her original vampire uncles or aunt to break because of a baby. Taking pity on them, and you, hearing how your cries and breathing have gotten more erratic, if she doesn't step in now, you might catch a cold, she stands up from the couch.
Hope walks over to her uncle and convinces him to pass you over to her. Sighing, he does, worries about you and doesn't want to put any stress on the teenager. Especially after what had happened when Hayley had almost died from Greta and how her son has used his niece.
When she cradles you in her arms, you immediately calm down, knowing it's your big sister. You nuzzle your face into her neck, her soft hair brushing against your cheek.
She walks back over to the couch and sits down. Her arms are wrapped tightly around you, making sure that there's no way you can get hurt. As she leans back into the comfy position she was in earlier, she feels eyes on her.
Looking around the room, her uncles and aunt are staring at her, mouths slightly agape, and eyes widened ever so much. "What?" She asks, knowing full well why they're staring.
"Did you use a spell to calm y/n down?" Elijah asks calm and collectively, unlike how Kol would be responded of he had the chance first. "No, but I've noticed how she's been only wanted to be held by mom, dad, or me. So I wanted to see what would happen if none of us were and how long it would last before I had to hold her" she explains as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Definitely no clear favoritism there" Kol scruches his eyes in mock anger and slight offense at you snuggled up with your big sister. Freya chuckles at her little brother's 'hurt feelings' about their five month old baby niece choosing wanting to be with her sister.
Hope just smirks at him, "I don't know what your talking about" she kisses the top of your head gently.
-
"What's going on in here?" Hayley's brow quirks up, she just got out of the shower. Telling by her still damp hair.
"Well your baby clearly has favorites" Kol says, flopping back into the couch with his arms crossed and a pout on his face. "I'm starting to wonder who the actual child here is, you or her" Hayley smirks and sits down next to her two daughters.
"Wow, first the baby, then the teen, and now the mother" Kol groans about how he can get insulted by all three of them in under thirty minutes. And you can't even talk yet!
Everyone chuckles at the teen original vampire, including you, copying what you hear your big sister doing and now your mama.
Vito going from annoyed to loving your stay in his apartement and starting treating you with his wife, his obsessive tendency on the first few was very subtle toward you but it's getting more apparent by holding your hand when going out and beat up punk that disrespected you. One of his most fearful moment is for one day you just go back to your own timeline leaving him all alone
Tumblr media
A/N: Ugh your minddddd!! Sorry this took a few days, I got a little busy. Using a prompt from the Yandere prompt list hehehe
44. “Leaving me and going back home is all you think about, isn’t it? Always dreaming about it, always thinking about it?”
Warnings: abuse, manipulation, being held hostage,violence, slight SA and happy sunshine rainbows!!
Requests: Open 24/7
Masterlist
As much flack as Vito had originally given you, he’s so attached to you now.
Vito definitely is the kind of Yandere who pretends like he’s not completely obsessed with you but is actually dying for your attention.
Tsundere I believe it’s called? Yeah. That’s him.
It’s been nice having you around the house. You make him meals, help out with laundry, cleaning, and even patch him up when he comes home hurt. Not to mention very caring and understanding. You check off all the boxes his mama told him to look for in a wife, why would he ever let you go?
Besides, ever since you told him that he’d end up old and alone, he’s been on the hunt to find his perfect wife.
Apparently that perfect someone is you.
Now you were simply doing all of these things as an exchange for him letting you stay while you worked on a plan to get back home. Not because you were trying out to be his housewife.
Vito is from another time period, for him, if you're basically functioning like a married couple then you are one.
All you need now is a ring and his last name.
You didn’t pay attention to his little gestures at first. Him opening the door for you, paying for you and being protective were all chivalrous gestures most men in the 50’s would’ve done anyways. He never made it a big deal or overstepped a boundary so it didn’t really rub you wrong.
Of course Joe would tease you about Vito being completely smitten over you but it never really appeared so. Also who really pays that man any attention???
It wasn’t until Vito started becoming bolder that you started taking him seriously.
Vito would start to get visibly upset if you decided to sit across from him and not directly next to him at restaurants.
He disliked when you interacted with any man other than him. Even to the point where he would start to question your feelings for Joe, slightly accusing you of flirting.
He became a lot more physical, insisting that you’d hold his hand or have at least one of his arms around your waist at all times.
You tried to protest about how this made you feel extremely uncomfortable since this was a very intimate gesture but the man wasn’t having it. It was like arguing with a wall.
“Y/N, I know we’re only friends but I’m doing this for your protection. If other men around think you’re with me, they won’t dare lay a finger on you. Everyone knows I’m with Falcone.”
To your dismay, you dropped it. What he said kind of made sense. Women and children are off limits, especially if they belong to a family. Maybe he knew something you didn’t.
The physical contact continued but only got worse. To the point he’ll just pull you onto his lap, adjust your clothes and move your hair out of the way so he can rest his head on your neck.
“Trust me Y/N, I’m not into you. You’re not even really my type. Like I said, I just want to protect you. I need people to believe it.”
Why are you lying so hard Vito??
This soldier doesn't like it when a man disrespects a woman period!! Like y’all remember this man holding everything in him back so he wouldn’t kill the guy that hit his sister.
Mama’s boy™️
Can you imagine what happened to the man who decided it was a good idea to not only catcall you but to smack your ass???
You tried to tell Vito to forget it and that it wasn’t that big of a deal…
You spent hours trying to get the blood stains out of Vito’s bomber jacket as well as the sounds of his fists slamming that poor punk into the ground out of your head.
As much as he tried so hard to hide his one sided relationship from you, it was so obvious by this point.
Vito felt strongly about you, even if it was platonic. It was getting out of hand and causing you to look for an out.
Maybe speaking to Vito about this would help? Maybe this was all a misunderstanding and maybe this time he’d actually listen to you?
Yeah….no.
He’s a stubborn fuck that refuses to accept reality.
“Okay…since you can’t respect my wishes and this isn’t enjoyable anymore. I’m thinking about leaving and going back home. I mean that was always the plan but-“
What? You’re leaving? No no no. How could you leave your husband?
“No. You’re not going.”
Haha that’s funny…
“Um, Vito, I didn't ask you. I’m telling you. I’ll be leaving soon. Did you really think I was going to stay here forever?”
Yes. He really did. You were meant to be a part of this decade, here with him. What is so great about the future if he’s not going to be there to spend it with you?
He’s not happy, this isn’t right. Something in his brain snapped and he’s not letting you leave.
“Leaving me and going back home is all you think about, isn’t it? Always dreaming about it, always thinking about it?”
“Vito-“
“Do you think it’s funny that I have to spend my life alone…no one to love or take care of me while you go back to your life like it’s nothing??”
“P-please calm down-“
“Oh please fuck off Y/N. There’s someone else isn't there?? Huh? You have some pretty boy waiting at home for you right now? I can make more money for you-”
“Vito! There isn’t anyone else. I’m just not supposed to be here. We weren’t ever supposed to meet. This was all a huge mistake and I’m sorry for interrupting your life. I wish I just never came here. I-I wish we never met.”
Seriously? Did you mean that? Are you going to go back and undo all of this? Can you even do that? You can’t do that, he can’t live without you. You’re meant to be together.
Taking a second to breathe and lower his tone, he spoke calmly.
“Look, I’m sorry. I gained a little crush on you and it’s admittedly gotten a bit weird. You are right and I’ll let it go. If you feel like going back home will make you happy then I will learn to live with it.”
“It’s okay Vito. Let’s just get some rest and then we can discuss this over breakfast. We’ve had a long day.”
Yeah he’ll never learn to live with it. That was his best attempt at setting down the situation. He needed alone time to think and most importantly for you to go to sleep.
It’s wrong…he can almost see the frown on his late mother’s face as he thinks up this sick plan. But he didn’t ever think about you leaving before and now he’s terrified of you doing just that.
He’d only be locking you up for a few days, that’s enough for him to break you…make you change your mind…
He’s been tought exactly how to fuck with someone in the army, how to make his enemy crumble into doing whatever he wants.
Vito could do that with you. It’ll be okay and you’ll learn to forgive him once he gives you a new fur coat or something.
“This is for the best, Y/N. It’s for our future.” He loves you and the ropes tied around your ankles are tied with care. ;)
I was reading through aome of the other asks and found one I saw was really neat so could I request R0635, UMP9, SOPMOD and Springfield having somehow had children with S/O, what they would he like as parents.
(Also what do you mean SOPMOD asexually reproduced an identical smaller version of herself HOW)
(GFL) RO635, UMP9, M4 SOPMOD II and Springfield as parents
(SOPMOD) "Don't ask questions you aren't prepared to handle the answers to, anon!" Much like the original ask with DEFY as parents, we will assume the child's genes for their mother's side is the DNA of the human they were designed from.
Tumblr media
RO would be constantly worried about her and S/O's child.
She'd be worried about their safety, that they weren't spending enough time with them, and a myriad of other issues.
But the moment she hears their laughter, her worries melt away as she holds them.
RO didn't think too much on what she would do outside of war, considering she was a weapon, but now she has an idea.
As much as she wishes for them to be on base so she can watch them more closely, she doesn't want them in harm's way.
And more importantly, she does not want her child to have terrible influences like SOPMOD or M16A1.
(RO635) "A-Ah! Sweetie, please be careful, don't run! You could slip on the ice around here!"
RO is admittedly a bit overbearing and a touch too affectionate for her child but it's all out of a place of love for them, and nothing is getting between her son/daughter.
Tumblr media
UMP9 literally could not be any happier with her child and S/O.
When she and the rest of Squad 404, she wanted to start a family when she had enough money.
And it looks like one goal was already taken care of!
Given the secrecy of her squad's operations, she doesn't openly visit her child for their safety.
But the moment she can, she absolutely smothers them in affection, picking them up and giving them kisses all over their face.
(UMP9) "I'm hooome!~ Give me a hug!"
UMP9's smile threatens to hurt the servos on her face with how much she does so, playing with her kid and having zero hesitation in indulging in whatever game they wanted to play with her and S/O.
UMP9 introduces her child to her cool "aunts" of 404, having to awkwardly explain why UMP45 was so sarcastic, HK416 was so "mean", and G11 was always asleep.
Tumblr media
CHAOS
SOPMOD is excited to have a child to raise with S/O! It means that she can teach them all sorts of cool things!
Now S/O has to reign in the chaos of two people, since the child doesn't know any better, and SOPMOD is SOPMOD.
Whenever she isn't there to look after the child due to a mission or base safety, she lets her child have SOPMOD II Jr. accompany them.
The two apparently get into all kinds of trouble, but they aren't caught so it doesn't bother SOPMOD that much.
To which S/O cannot say the same about their feelings on the matter.
(SOPMOD) "S/O! Let's go play, mommy's got you a new toy!"
The new toy consisted of a child-sized flamethrower that she made herself, which had S/O sweating buckets trying to convince her to not let them use it.
Antics aside, she would never let their kid come to any kind of harm as long as she remained functional, and always triple checks to make sure they're safe.
Tumblr media
Springfield works even harder at the cafe knowing that she has a child.
At the end of the day, she always makes sure to save enough sweets for her family to share.
Since Springfield is not often deployed on missions, she actually has her child stay in her room on base.
If they're old enough, she has them help out around the cafe with her, G36, and S/O.
Her smile seems to grow tenfold in their presence, admittedly spoiling them a great deal.
But she can't help it! She loves her kid far too much, but she isn't afraid to scold them when necessary. Especially when it comes to hard work.
(Springfield) "Dear, please bring your mother some coffee for her friends!"
She always baked before meeting S/O and having a kid, but now her muffin production has kicked into overdrive, to the point they always have extras no matter how many they eat.
Hi, I love your Sidelined AU! My question(s) is about the emotional fallout of Draxum’s cruelty towards Leo in the original oneshot – do Leo’s brothers realize the impact of what Draxum said to Leo - since it hurt that they didn’t refute his words at the time? And what is Draxum really sorry for, if he expected Leo to die (‘I can make you a replacement son’)? (to be clear I like remorse and redemption arcs and am totally on board, just trying to get my head around it)
thank you!
this is a fair question! when I wrote that initial one shot it was not envisioned as part of a series, so if I had actually written it with that in mind there likely would be some differences, like I would have made an effort to include April and probably would have scaled back some of Draxum's more blatantly villainous dialogue. but I didn't know, and so I didn't write it that way, and now we have what we have because retcons are for cowards /jjjjj
in regards to his brothers not refuting Draxum: Leo would try to avoid letting them know how bad that hurt him initially because he doesn't want them to know that bothered him, but he's really low and ends up fighting with Donnie especially and I could see it coming out in a weak moment of bitterness that they didn't defend them, which would definitely make his bros upset, because yeah, they didn't. to be clear it's not because they actually agreed with Draxum, it's because they're young teenagers who were in a stressful situation and they were all in shock over what was happening. I think we can all forgive a 13/14/15-year-old for not having the correct emotional response ready to go, haha. and in time Leo will realize this too - they could probably all benefit from family therapy tbh but it is what it is. anyway, they do realize the impact of it on his mental health eventually and it's a work in progress to help him out of that rut.
Draxum... really wasn't thinking of the boys as, like... people, at that time? I'm not convinced if Draxum really knew what level of sentience the boys were going to have and was probably still thinking of them as animals at first. and then when he met them and realized they do have human level intelligence... well, humans dehumanize other humans all the time, and remember that Draxum was planning to attempt a genocide, so overlooking the personhood of others was a thing he was already prepared to do.
he said what he said mostly to antagonize Splinter. in his mind, Leo wasn't much more than an animal, so he wasn't really Lou Jitsu's son. like sure, he used Lou Jitsu's DNA to mutate him but that's not really the same, is it? the idea that Lou Jitsu had been off playing house with his experiments was ludicrous to him, because those aren't children, they're experimental soldier prototypes. it made as much sense to him as a trainer calling an attack dog their son.
it's not really until he's seeing their pure grief over what's happening to Leo, when he's interacting with them in a cooperative capacity, that he starts to accept that they are actually a family, and that what he's done has destroyed them. as with many situations, unfortunately, it takes seeing the hurt he's caused and empathizing with them to finally see them as people, and to regret the actions he's taken. of course, it's too little too late at that time, but he has time to make it up to them eventually... he just really has to work for it.
thanks for the ask!
Starting from the first episode, Rick and Morty's sixth season mirrors, references and counters season three. Season six references other seasons, especially the second, but the writers really want you to focus on season three and how much has changed.
Season three starts with The Rickshank Rickdemption, which I think is the best episode in the series, but it also shows Rick at his worst: a horrifying monster who destroys everything in his path on a rampage that culminates in a full-on mental break as he yells incoherently at a terrified Morty in the garage.
The Rickshank Rickdemption shows Rick's "fake" backstory, features a return to Morty's original dimension and involves the whole family in a zany adventure. Unfortunately, this also kickstarts Rick's spiral into nearly irredeemable madness.
Solaricks goes to similar places: Rick's backstory, Morty's original dimension, the family's complicated dynamic. By now, season five has revealed that Rick's "fake" backstory wasn't fake after all. Instead of mocking the audience with a "Fuck you, you can't have what you want!" sneer, the episode shows us Rick's quiet sadness.
Meanwhile, Morty ends up in his original dimension yet again. But he doesn't find the goofy Mad Max-esque characters from season three. His father, who's become a more realistic deception of an apocalypse survivor, tears into him and tells him--and the audience--that he, Beth and Summer were real people, not plot devices.
The episode abandons the cold and mocking earlier version of the Cronenberg Smiths. Jerry abandons Morty, too, leaving Morty to wander away crying. No brutal destruction and bloody corpses on the citadel. Just a sad, lonely teenager in an empty landscape.
Rick comes back for him without claiming that he doesn't care about Morty. He doesn't yell at him, insult him, subject him to horrifying violence or bait him into trying to kill him. Morty's not angry at him, either. After everything that's happened, after all the fucked-up shit that Rick's pulled, after all the screaming and fighting and abuse, Morty runs to him with a smile on his face and his arms outstretched like a young child.
Nothing could make Rick abandon his revenge-fueled atrocities in The Rickshank Rickdemption. In Solaricks, he abandons his chance to kill Prime when Morty calls him "Grandpa."
Tumblr media
Likewise, Final DeSmithation is the second Rick and Jerry episode that we've been hoping for since The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy. The first episode battered viewers with Rick and Jerry's hatred for each other. Rick unleashes rage-fueled tirades while Jerry focuses on his desire to get back at Rick, to hurt him and even kill him.
In Final DeSmithation, Rick isn't the one terrorizing Jerry. In fact, he actually gets annoyed at the Smiths for making fun of him (while doing household chores, which is another first for Rick.)
He has no reason to help Jerry. If anything, he has a chance to endlessly mock him. But he gives Jerry a half-assed explanation that he "just didn't want to see someone get bullied into going to a zoo," which would still be nice if it were true. Rick doesn't even bother making up a mean one, such as "I'm only doing this so that my daughter doesn't kick me out of the house for not saving your stupid ass."
Final DeSmithation also had a fandom staple: Rick in a suit and tie. The series full of fakeouts suddenly pivoted to giving fans what they want.
Rick's mean to Jerry throughout the episode, but you can tell that he's getting tired of the act. He's a little more patient, and his remarks are less incisive. At the end, Rick tries to take it back by slapping Jerry, but the episode doesn't end there. He immediately looks guilty and accepts Jerry's offer of friendship afterward.
I also loved when Rick said that he's "dead center on the alignment chart." Earlier seasons, including season three, glorified the idea of Rick being close to evil.
Tumblr media
Analyze Piss is the most direct callback: a sequel to Pickle Rick. However, Rick's not concocting ridiculous plots to get out of therapy. He willingly attends therapy. He paces around and fights against it, but ultimately, he seeks help.
He respects Dr. Wong, who knows how to talk to him on his level. He puts her ideas into practice even when the family pushes back because Rick's not doing what they want him to do. Rick still struggles and falls apart, but he tried this time.
He has chances to manipulate the Smiths, but he doesn't take them. Instead, he looks at them sadly. His ego is slowly eroding.
Finally, Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation mirrors The Rickchurian Mortydate. Both episodes are season finales, and both involve Rick and the President bickering with Morty caught in the middle and getting increasingly sick of Rick's bullshit.
Still, this episode is a little nicer. Rick relapses, but he doesn't entirely backslide and turn into the murderous lunatic that he was in The Rickchurian Mortydate. He's just crabby.
The episode ends with an exciting cliffhanger instead of a dark moment when the Smiths (rightfully) get tired of Rick's bullshit. Rick even says in his usual crazy rant that he'll try to be healthier in season seven as he hunts Prime Rick.
We finally get a fakeout, but this one is gentler than the others. It's disappointing that Rickbot wasn't the real Rick, but the writers don't want us to leave thinking that Rickbot existed only to fool us. Rickbot tells Morty that Rick technically committed those kind, loving acts. It's a surprise twist that doesn't negate the entire season.
Tumblr media
Season six countered infamous scenes from other seasons, but the season three parallels stood out to me because they contrast Rick at his worst with Rick at (maybe) his best. He can't change the past, but when he ends up in the same situation again, he can make different choices.
The tag rambles in (the post about moth/dead!us fluttering around Foul Legacy) have given me even more random angsty ideas hehehe
Also, for a bit of size context, I personally would see us as an Atlas Moth (they're very pretty, just like everyone here <3).
"in an alternate universe Childe vanished and a sparkly moth started following you around" Ack okay but the simultaneous misery and nostalgia at getting a mini version of the big moth that we love so much. Honestly, I think that prospect would just break us, so here's a few ideas and whatnot: - Underside of the moth's wings would be sparkly, while the topside would probably be some sort of dark purple. - Antennae that look like Legacy's horns <3 <3 - Literal-moth moth would probably try to stick around our hands as much as possible - Unfortunately, we can't pet him like we could when he was mothman. Because, y'know, fragile creature and all that.
"ohhh if the moth gets hurt (because it's so easy for them to get hurt) Foul Legacy starts sobbing" - Moths can't fly again if a wing breaks, unfortunately ;-; - Frankly, I can indeed see Foul Legacy just end up sobbing at a wing of ours being broken (ooo that's a new idea, maybe I'll touch it later...) - Us, with a broken wing, crawling over and around both his claws and mask, also maybe nestling in his fur(hair)? - Uncertain if a soul moth (as I'm gonna call us) needs nutrients like a regular moth. However, if we do, then Foul Legacy may just stop by forests or something frequently in order to keep as as healthy as we can be <3
~ :D Anon (Sorry it took me so long, was busy with tests ehe)
Note: I removed the link, hopefully it'll send this time? If it does, then woop-
aaaa yeah tumblr asks can be very VERY finicky especially on anon for some reason??? once i tried to send one in and it wouldn't let me because i had too many commas, tsk tsk!!! (original ask here <33)
Foul Legacy little moth: !!!! oh my goodness imagine you're in that state where you're trying so hard to cling onto hope, trying so hard to seem fine so you don't worry your friends and family- and it seems like the little moth that started following you everywhere only helps you heal, or at least people think it should since it's a constant, comforting presence
but the moth knows the truth- it knows how you sometimes break down when you're alone in your room, no matter how happy you try to seem during the day. it knows how you cry into your hands, your sobs of "where could he be?" as you despair over your lost Abyssal monster, your missing Foul Legacy
the little moth can only perch on your fingers, fuzzy antennae waving in your face like it's trying to wipe away your tears, and despite your sadness you still find the energy to cup your friend in your hands and smile wearily- just as kind as Childe remembers
you little moth: Foul Legacy will break if his tiny moth companion gets hurt- even more so if it was by him, even on accident. his talons and armor is sharp, deadly to something so small and delicate, and he cradles the moth in his hands and weeps. the little insect flicks its antennae, almost as if it's trying to reassure him, but all he can see is the rip in the poor thing's wing
he doesn't know the moth is you, intent on keeping him company even after death- he simply knows that it feels familiar, that the creature is dear to him and someone to be treasured, for when else will a moth willingly become friends with a beast? he swears you keep you safe from now on, allowing you to snuggle into his fluff or hair, away from his claws and teeth. occasionally you'll go and perch on one of his horns, happily enjoying the breeze that you can't fly in anymore, at least not as well
on particularly peaceful days he tentatively allows you to sit on one of his claws, basking in the sun and looking awfully proud of yourself despite being a moth. you flutter your wings and he flutters his back, and Legacy can see you happily waving your antennae in the air
at those moments, Childe knows peace
I've been a bit too drained to work on any of my actual theories or detail catching(there's a yuno draft I keep staring at) so with that said, I may or may not have been listening to the entire Mili discography and couldn't help but assign MORE songs. I've previously assigned Yuno(Camelia), Mahiru(Rubber Human), and Mikoto(Sleep Talk Metropolis) songs. So they don't get any. Yeah.
Haruka: Extension of You
There is me, and there is you Who knew everything, teach me how to sing Teach me how to sing, teach me how to sing
I learned the good and the evil Learned your boundaries, learned your mortality You're out of service, out of service
There are still many things that I want to know Stories left untold Does it feel good to love? To hand out your own? To hand out your own? Does it feel good to hate? To shelter one's self? To shelter one's self?
Note: Vibes.
Fuuta: Painful Death For The Lactose Intolerant
Cleanse up your body, cleanse up your soul
Perfect life for you and I People who's trying to get by Painful death for the lactose intolerant For you there is no lament
Begin the revolution!
Note: Technically is the one that gave me the idea to actually make this list, though I came up with Kazui's WEEKS ago, and Amane's I gave to her basically as soon as it was released- which was a few days ago. Either way, Fuuta fits the allegory of this song for me- the disdain for people who 'can't change' in his view. I think his views of change are... changing now, so this is definitely for before he was injured. Yeah.
Muu: GIVE ME RICE
Honey This is all, this is everything All the things you want All you'll ever need
The entire 'give me' section that I am NOT pasting. It makes more sense listened to.
Note: I'm not entirely sure how to explain this song. While the song is mostly of just wanting things, there's elements of the singer knowing that this isn't what they need. It feels like a song of just not knowing how to end a cycle that is actively hurting you, even if you want to, and ending up perpetuating it as you give up. Maybe my explanation of why doesn't entirely make sense as to why I'd give it to Muu. I think with Muu, she didn't really want to break the cycle in the first place- when she was on top, of course- and that she simply fell into her role when she was no longer in that previous position. Muu is fairly passive, and I feel as though this song is better for the Muu shown in It's Not My Fault.
Shidou: Nine Point Eight -special edit-
Please don't leave me behind, leave me behind So you held me tight And said I will be just fine
Take me to where your soul may live in peace Final destination Touch of your skin sympathetically brushed against The shoulders you used to embrace
Note: I don't really have anything particular to say. I don't think it fits well per se, but I think the softness of the special edit over the original better fits Shidou. There's also a lot of flower imagery, so.
Kazui: From A Place of Love
There's just so much work Too much work to be done Committing to commitments Hiding my indulgence The freedom we sacrifice for love
You're a nice girl I'm just not ready now But then mommy said It ain't family biz Get over it Toughen up Just like the man we expected
I know that I agreed to this myself (Myself, myself) I wish it was their fault
Note: I was so tempted to paste all of the song lyrics. I also hope that all Library of Ruina fans that see this post take sanity damage from seeing THIS song here. I don't think any arguments can be made here. There's so much about getting into a relationship that ends disasterously because of being pressured into it, and then the blame that the singer puts on themself, that just works so perfectly for Kazui's story. The version specifically posted here is the battle version, not the Key Ingredient version, because that version leans more into some of the other elements of what this song was made for, elements that just don't fit. Either way. Kazui song. Don't read the comments.
Amane: Duetting Solo
(Holy land, with Her we stand) The love we teach, violence we preach (Knives in hand, we're innocent lambs)
My hands are red, my heart is black
I cried I screamed I slept I woke up mad
Note: Duetting Solo is a song of revenge, one that just so happens to have a heavy layer of religion on it. I know nothing of the source material, it is just kind of there. But yeah, to me, at least, this song feels very similar to Purge March in tone to me. Amane doesn't completely respect the beliefs she's been born into, even if she uses them to justify herself.
Kotoko: Rosetta
For everyone everywhere everything Will betray your innocent heart All of them
Vile, vile Shield yourself Mind my words Don't let yourself corrupt
Come back to me Rosetta No-one nowhere nothing will take anything anything anything from me
Note: There's a certain... anger to Rosetta that I can't really explain. It's just one of those things you feel, you know? Anyways, this one is a Kotoko and Lucky one. The song is so concerned with Rosetta remaining 'pure' and 'uncorrupted.' It's so distinctly paranoid that she will be hurt in some way. I have more reasoning but I began writing it and quickly realized 'oh! I should save this for my very complicated thoughts on what Kotoko and Lucky's relationship was, WHICH I WANT TO HOLD OFF ON BECAUSE LUCKY IS DEFINITELY BEING ASKED ABOUT.' The not-really summary on that though is that the singer of Rosetta, in my personal analysis, seems to be an overprotective/helicoptor guardian of sorts, paranoid of what the world could do to their child, and so paranoid that they end up being left behind by Rosetta anyways. The last lines of the song to me indicate that the singer saw Rosetta less as human, and more of something the singer 'had' in some way- just like how Kotoko seemed to treat Lucky like something she needed to protect and not much else, regardless of her genuine thoughts on her. Please do not make of that what you will I have a lot of thoughts and it's VERY hard to elaborate what I mean. Just. Rosetta. Kotoko and Lucky song.
God ive been reading through your rewrites and im totally obsessed. I've had so many similar ideas about cooking and i get so excited looking at your ideas. I have my own cat system and story idea set outside of the warriors Universe I've been working on for years now and reading your ideas gives me tons of inspo. Theyre an incredibly useful respurce for worldbuilding
Also this is totally unrelated to literally anything, but what are your thoughts on Jaggedtooth / Snag? He was Rowanclan's mentor and a major Tigerstar supporter
Also, does Antpelt have any kin in this rewrite? In the original series I beleive he is an "orphaned" kit. I'm a sucker for Ant x Breeze but i've also recently come up with a headcannon / au where he is brought in and is apart of Smokey's litter with Onestar. The reason he brought Any in and not Dark was because Ant was deathly ill and Onestar pretended Ant was a random orphaned kit that hid mate decided to surrogate. I have absolutely no idea how the litters line up with canon though so 🤷
Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad it's helped get the creative juices flowing!
On Antpelt
He is an Orphan Warrior in the main series by my definition, yep! He has no official siblings or parents. I haven't figured out who his parents are going to be yet, though, only because I haven't completely redone WindClan's family tree yet.
In fact I only have a few things truly confirmed for WindClan's family tree right now.
The first is that Onestar has no siblings. He's the son of Larksplash and Cloudrunner, and his mother died in childbirth, which is how he got the name Onekit.
The second is that Mudclaw's children are the first born at the lake; and they are half-Clan, from him and Whitewater. Whitewater was going to invoke the Queen's Rights, but after the failed rebellion she felt wrong about her two oldest kits and gave them to Torear to raise. Those kits were Kestrelflight and Harespring; she kept the last one, Owlclaw.
Soooooo basically Antpelt's nowhere right now. I'll hook him up when I work on the tree next; but Onestar's only child is going to be Heathertail, and maybe Galekit, but they're going to stay dead.
Jaggedtooth
I really like Jaggedtooth and Nightwhisper. They both always struck me as people Tigerstar actually HATES, but keeps them around because they're useful.
I'm fond of how far Jag was willing to go for him, cutting off one of his own fingers to get Tigerstar into a better position, only to be snubbed. I'd join BloodClan too after that fuck you Tigerstar get divided loser
I know Jaggedtooth's generally used as a villain, but it's more fitting to my narrative for him to be a bit more sympathetic. For the story I'm trying to tell, Clan Culture is supposed to be a constant antagonist, especially for this time period where Fire Alone is not established. Runningnose is being buffed up into an actual villain, meaning there's no need for Snag to do the false sign with his severed claw.
So for my rewrite, Jaggedtooth,
Is an ok mentor to Rowanpaw. Rowan is now the daughter of Brokenstar, but Jaggedtooth doesn't care and she finds that refreshing.
What really hurts her is when Jaggedtooth leaves, as he was the closest thing to a father she ever had.
Rowan's first mentor is killed in the epidemic. Not sure who it is yet though.
Anyway Jaggedtooth rejoins BloodClan, and either goes back to the name Snag or shortened it to Jagged/Jag.
The costumes (and maybe the cutlure), how do you come up with those, and where do you get the inspiration?
I am by no means an expert but I'll try to answer! So I'm gonna answer the question of costume design and culture design separately for the sake of what I hope is simplicity. But for both, my general advice is to:
A) Keep it simple B) Constantly ask for the why, specifically for culture worldbuilding
As far as wordbuilding goes for culture, I personally like to try and make the shit up on the fly as I go cuz I find it a fun challenge, but it never hurts to look at existing cultures for some inspiration! That said, keep in mind there's a difference between drawing inspiration from a culture and attempting to represent it, and if you're going for the latter and have no lived-in experience with the culture, research research research.
That said, there are basic nuances in culture that are always present no matter what culture it may be: how and what the people eat, what the people don't and do believe in, how they creatively express themselves (art, music, dance, writing). Basically, how they exist in, interact with, and view the world.
SO! A few tips to building a culture based on how I typically go about it!
-Consider the environment your fictional peeps live in. What's the weather? What's the native flora and fauna? What's their technology like? Is their magic? If so, how does that influence the environment and the people in it? Ask yourself these questions when worldbuilding in general, but I think it's a neat place to start because environment influences how a culture may develop over time.
-Once you figure out some of the environmental elements your peeps have to deal with, you can get creative with it. How do they build their houses? What do they wear and what do they eat? How do they eat? What are the tools they use on the daily? What, to them, is considered abundant and what is considered scarce, how do they react to that?
-Get creative! Think about what makes your race unique and maybe consider how that affects their culture. I like to pick out unusual details about my fictional societies/races and try to consider how that would influence their overall culture. For example: a world with a race that has no magic vs a race that does. A race that are, say, covered in fur, or have sensitive hearing, or perhaps are largely blind. Maybe the people don't have a means to vocally communicate, or perhaps they have no arms, or they have extra parts (wings, tail, additional arms/legs, eyes ect). Maybe the women grow beards and the men don't, maybe they don't actually have any distinct sex or gender; you get it. Everything and all of these things can be used to get the ball rolling in creating something unique and fun for the culture, like how they interact, how they exist, what they believe in. Having an origin for a cultural development will help answer the question why, and knowing the why (which doesn't necessarily have to be super intricate btw) will help give your culture a little more believability. Because everything has a why in context, even if it's a very simple one.
If you don't mind a personal example: my race the Spirits in my OC story. For a simple example, they are magical and they have horns. That lead to the idea that they believe their horns store a large portion of their magic, and that led to the idea that the horns play a huge role in both intimacy and basic interaction in their lives. Touching the horns with hands = only allowed with friends. Lowering the horns = a sign of submission or a challenge. Touching horns to horns = intimate, reserved for close friends, family, partners. Bashing horns = aggression, incredibly rude, or rough play. And that's just for the basic social interaction; this little detail can lead into ideas for personal grooming, what could generally be considered attractive, how they view people without them, how they decorate them, so on.
-My final tip with fictional culture building is to try not to worry about the super fine intricacies, especially when you start to build your world. Try to let it flow as organically as you can, and brainstorm brainstorm brainstorm. Play with the ideas, don't shy away from crazy or simple ideas. A culture-- and for that case a world-- doesn't necessarily have to make complete sense for it to work, largely because it's... a part of being human is the best way I can put it? It's usually messy, and some of it you may not understand even from a creator standpoint, but that's what makes it beautiful man.
-----
NOW! As for costume design! Because I got lengthy with the previous I'mma keep this as short and simple as I can!
-When designing an outfit/costume for a character, consider who they are and what their purpose is in the story. Think about their personality, their occupation, their environment: how does that translate to how they dress?
-Use references. Use them. Find characters that have the general vibe you're going for and note how they look, dress. Look up fashion from different periods in history (especially if you're lookin' to make it based on a specific time period), take some inspiration from that.
-Keep in mind the 70-20-10 rule. This is specifically for color design in both your character and your character's costume. In general terms, a character's design is made up of 70% of one color, 20% of a secondary color, and 10% of an accent color. This helps with cohesiveness; be mindful of what those colors could tell the viewer about the character at just a glance.
-----
aaaaand that's all I got. I hope this helps in some capacity! ;w;
For the time lost
Summary: Zuko wants to erase every reminder of his past mistakes, and Katara will take him on a journey to, quite literally, heal both of their scarrings.
Contains: Angst, Fluff, Katara has burns scars from Aang's first attempts to firebend, Katara tries to get over her resentment towards the FN, Zuko doesn't hate Azula.
Dear reader: I hope you enjoy it! <3 Let me know if you want me to continue posting
Find chapter one here and chapter three here.
┊┊┊┊☆┊*🌙*┊☆┊┊┊┊
Chapter Two
Katara thought about her students while folding clothes. A decent amount of people decided to move to the Southern Water Tribe after the war ended, and she knew a lot of families took this as a chance to start over. For now, she was in charge of nurturing the minds of the young benders that arrived. Even though she loved this new job, it was time for her to take a break.
“Hey, what’s with the sunglasses?” her dad asked, taking them off the nightstand and putting them on. “I know it’s summer but we’re still in the South Pole, kid”
Katara smiled. “I’m just packing them for tomorrow”.
His dad offered to help her, but she was almost done when he arrived, so she thought of two plans for her trip instead. Plan A, she would eat at the first rotisserie that appeared on her way to Zuko’s fancy royal mansion/palace/casa. Then, she would go to his house and even though she insisted on staying in a hotel nearby, she would eventually agree to stay. She would get a Fire Nation royalty-style spa day, Zuko’s treat (it’s important to clarify that, at least half of this plan was stolen on Toph’s visits to the Fire Nation. Though it is quite obvious). After all of that, she would ask him (preferably during a beach day) why he is visiting the North Tribe so much. And right before leaving, she would spend a day at Iroh’s shop.
However, it seemed like she had to go with plan B. Sure, it wasn’t a bad plan B, but it definitely involved fewer massages and face masks than the original, and Katara was just a girl who wanted a little self-care. Can anyone blame her?
“I like what you’ve done to the place” Katara stared at the wooden panels on the wall. She was too shy to confess her feelings about fire hazards, she didn’t even know if it was offensive for him.
“I tried to make it a bit retro, you know?” Iroh explained. “Everything is changing so fast, I’m afraid the world forgets its roots. But I guess that’s not a big preoccupation for younger folks”.
The words of Iroh resonated in her head on most occasions, especially since she was aware that he was Azulon’s firstborn. Even if he had spent more than a decade fixing his past actions, it was still weird for her to share the same table as a guy he had resented from the moment she gained consciousness. It’s hard to get used to this new era, and it’s probably the reason she barely went to the Fire Nation, even if it meant fewer hangouts with Zuko. In the last months, Aang helped her a lot to channel her antipathy into different, less draining emotions. Today’s emotion is: curiosity.
“I think I know why you are here, Katara” he offered her a cup.
“Well, we both needed a vacation”, she said. ”Zuko’s told me how busy these last weeks have been for him… plus I missed swimming without the risk of dying of hypothermia”.
“Then you’re certainly going to love the beaches down on Chaisee’s island” Iroh gave her a warm laugh. “Oh, the times I had there when I was your age!”
Katara took a sip on the cup and smiled.
“But be careful, Zuko’s skin might be sensitive after last week”, Katara cautiously nodded, “as a water bender yourself, you know how the healing procedures work”.
Healing procedures? Katara nodded again. Could Iroh tell she was nervous?
“Yeah…. I totally forgot. It’s such a sensitive procedure!” she said, having no idea about this healing thing. “And I wouldn’t want to hurt a Fire Lord, they have a history of heated arguments don’t they?” Apparently, it was impossible for Katara to shut her mouth. “Anyways, promise I won’t interfere in the treatment. Don’t know how I forgot, Zuko told me all about it on my way here… I mean, on a letter of course. He wasn’t on the ship. I guess you know that” shut up shut up shut up.
Iroh widened his eyes and made a frown that immediately told Katara that her attempts to sound unbothered and casual failed, as usual.
“Did I say something I shouldn’t?” Iroh covered his mouth his hand.
Katara tried to comfort him. “Well, he technically told me about his trips to the North Tribe, so it was a matter of time until I figured out what was going on”, honestly, she never even considered the idea of him wanting to get rid of his scar. He hadn't mentioned since he was sixteen. “I have a few questions now, though”
“Maybe you should ask him directly, I’m sure you’re going to notice the change once he arrives. A healing process is slow, and you know Zuko: he wants everything fast”, Iroh sighed, “but in his last letter he told me that this healing session was quite intense”.
He poured the water into two cups.
“The thing is,” he cleared his voice, “Zuko doesn’t understand that there are some parts of a wound that can only be healed by him.”
DRAGON FIVE: Heo Ji-Nan
Tumblr media
Since its the Year of the Dragon, wouldn't you guys mind if I post about the Fire Dragon bench? They're my side hyperfixation that I love writing about every so often 🥺
Also yes, I specify bench because I don't care much about the main team for now. At least outside of their dynamics with the benchers that is-
First we have Ji-Nan, the reserve keeper. He's so cute ;____;
His profile implies that he lives in Seoul despite being from the south, so I like to interpret that his family moved there at some point of his life.
Typical story of a parent managing to gain a better place to live at thanks to their job; the usual. While most of the family was ok with the moving, Ji-Nan does get homesick at times, specially of the warmer temperatures. His original home are the Jeju Islands, by the way.
Because of the sudden change of location, Ji-Nan still has it hard to get used to living in the big city overall. At least joining his school's soccer club helped him make some friendships, I guess.
So, about his issues with the cold, here's a cruel fact: Ji-Nan has cold intolerance, which makes enduring the Seoul winters even worse. To cope with them he tends to put on puffy jackets, scarfs, gloves, and tons of layers of clothing. Otherwise expect him to catch him a cold very quickly…
The little hat he wears is just something he bought in hopes to warm himself up.
He has an older brother, but that gets constantly on his nerves because of his mischievous and unneeded comments towards him. When Ji-Nan practices soccer, he likes to act as a striker, and he will celebrate intensely every goal he makes against his brother.
...Though, Ji's very hot-headed overall. He doesn't take jokes very lightly, and he gets pissed off easily. I don't see him as violent when he's angry, closest thing is that he's quite petty and tends to complain about others in secret. Soccer and goalkeeping are also ways he lets his fury out without hurting others, supposedly.
Though in very rare occassions, Ji-Nan CAN actually try and fight someone no matter the size.
I like the idea of Ji-Nan using Dai Bakuhatsu Harite a very different way than the one seen animated: While the main keeper uses many but enough hits to stop the ball, the reserve often hits the ball way too much and with too fast, causing it to be slightly burned after the final explosion. This is an unwanted side-effect that's caused by a badly performed move.
His relationship with main keeper Jo Jung-Soo is okay, given there isn't an actual rivarly; and even JS himself sees potential on Ji-Nan. Unfortunately, he is very aware that the reserve keeper often puts too many of his negative emotions into his moves; which isn't neccesarily a bad thing but such intense things create the side-effects we mentioned earlier. So Jung-Soo always keeps an eye on him, and steps in is Ji-Nan is being his usual salty self.
"Don't let your fire get too intense, it will damage your playing style".
JN unfortunately doesn't have the best reaction to this, feeling often misunderstood. But at least later on the FFI he realizes healthier ways to express his negative feelings while also finding peace of mind. He probably got onto meditation or something
Because of the bad relationship with his older brother, te tends to become attached to pretty much every single older boy that treats him better. Jung-soo? The coach? The other benchers? You name it. Please ignore the fact that 3/4 of the bench aren't great people, the bar is just that low for him.
Though, Hwan Woo-Myang having a similar personality to his brother -always teasing Ji-Nan and his skills- can cause some tension between the two. Even if he's just being mischievous, this still is able to open the worst side of the little keeper, straight up talking shit behind him at any chance.
...For something more positive at least, time did make both boys mature a bit; removing Ji-Nan's petiness and making Woo-Myang a bit more considerate for others. After a re-encounter as adults the two surprisingly bonded well this time around, and they soon became good friends. Nowadays every weekend Woo-Myang likes to take Ji-Nan to eat and/or sing together. They always are having fun!
Speaking of the future, after the FFI Ji-Nan was the only FD bencher that kept playing football. Despite everything he never gave up and kept training, and soon enough after perfecting his skills enough he was given a spot on a professional Seoul team.
Another thing that contributed to his rising fame was his bond with Jung-Soo, given that they were in pretty good terms and often tried to train together. Nonetheless, Ji-Nan prefers to go his own way, even as to wishing to soon play internationally unlike the main keeper (Who'd rather stay on Korea as to keep improving local football).
Last thing, but a huge issue that did held back Ji-Nan during his early football days was his height. After all, with the current best korean keeper being huge, why would anyone place their trust on a tiny one? To compensate that, he trains very hard almost daily, following a rough excersice routine crafted from trial and error. At least once his daily effort is done, he loves to eat a huge bowl of fresh fruit.
(And yeah, don't expect him to get any despective comment about his height very positively).
song challenge !
Share at least 5 songs that you associate with or remind you of your muse! (I went a little crazy and added explanations for them also. My bad. I like to talk about Twain.)
1. American Pie - Don McLean
Well, it's not really very original of me and it doesn't really remind me of him for the reasons you might think, because he doesn't really relate to the song or anything. But, when I was first starting to write Twain---back when he was basically strictly adherent to BSD canon---one of the first headcanons I ever made that had meant a lot to me was that American Pie was a really important song to him. The reason why has changed a lot---he used to have a mentor figure who liked the song, but now it's closer to "when he was a kid, it played on the radio a lot and he liked it". I think as my portrayal of him evolved I really wanted to emphasize the importance of his upbringing on his character, so that ended up fitting in well as a little nod to the fact that while things were hard for him, they weren't ALWAYS hard.
2. Nunemaker's Parable - Everybody's Worried About Owen
If you know this song it's probably obvious, but from the very first time I heard it I thought about Twain! It's a song based on a biblical story, which is a bonus point because Twain WAS raised in the bible belt in a very religious family, but the content of the song is someone losing every single home he's made for himself over and over again, and turning to worse places because of it. It resonated with me and my portrayal of Twain a LOT because I put a lot of emphasis on the fact that Twain, without someone acting as an anchor, is a drifter who's too afraid to put down roots because he's afraid they might get severed.
3. All Gone - Mother Mother
It's another song that reminds me of Twain because of the way he's pretty much scrubbed himself clean of the person he grew up as in every way but the ones that matter the most. He doesn't really talk about his childhood or his family or anything like that and it was because of a purposeful desire to "die" and carry on living as a new person. It didn't end up making him feel any better about the things that had happened, and it's honestly probably worse that he doesn't talk about it, but... Well. He doesn't really like to dwell on stuff so the idea of him talking about it at literally any point is far-fetched. The point of this one was that I like the interpretation that he thought had to mutilate his sense of self in order to move forward, only for it to not end up helping him at all.
4. This Year - The Mountain Goats
Despite being an occasional pessimist and the sort of person who'd joke about dying often, I've always characterized him as the sort of person who wants to live no matter what he has to do. I think drowning when he was 14 really changed his perspective on life, because he genuinely didn't see hope for a future at that point and wanted to die right until the water entered his lungs for the first time, and ever since then he's been oddly stubborn about pushing through. That's not to say he's afraid of death or anything---he's a little afraid of dying alone and he obviously doesn't WANT to die, but it's more of a sense of... "I know one of these days I'm gonna get unlucky and bite it and I'm glad there's an end to life, but I'll do what I can to make sure that's not today". From where he is now, he just wants to be able to appreciate the world and the things that are possible in it while he's alive.
5. Blossoms - The Amazing Devil
I wanted to have at least one song on here that gave me an excuse to talk about his interpersonal relationships and I think this is a really great one. He's lived the sort of life where he's either had to leave or has been left by most of the people who he's cared about, and this song has a sense of drifting and anger and desparation and hurt that I think comes from having those failed relationships and wanting to MAKE something with someone that ends up going right---but it also ends somewhat optimistically, and that's why I picked it over some of the other songs that I was debating talking about for my #5. He's been ruined beyond complete repair by the people he's disconnected himself from but he has the inherent capacity (and desire even if he won't admit it to himself) to choose to stay and work for something resembling a healthy relationship with someone else.
I feel like the obvious solution to the Ogerpon problem is shared custody. Kieran can come back to our academy with us and all three of us can hang out and be friends without pressure from his village and family (however intentional or unintentional that pressure may be, you can’t say it did anything good for him).
I feel like he’d fit well with the friend group of Arven, Penny, Nemona, and the protagonist, anyways. Look me in the eyes and tell me Nemona wouldn’t love helping him get stronger.
Petition to adopt Kieran into the Paldean Friend Group. I think he would absolutely get along well with the other 3 characters. Nemona can help him get stronger while also doing some good for his self-confidence, Penny's anti-social herself and would be able to sympathize with his social struggles (also, she's not exactly known for using strong Pokemon, but doesn't let that get her down), and Arven has strained family bonds (ouch) and has done life-threatening things for the sake of a Pokemon (as someone who lost their childhood dog, the scenes with Mabostiff made me tear up).
I think the change from "friendly rival who is chill with everything" to a character who is a "friendly rival turned into your arch-nemesis" is actually a nice change! As much as I love Hau, Hop, and Nemona, the idea of a rival who goes from being a close friend to actually starting to dread being around us is so... interesting! I mean, you could say Bede was starting to despise running into us, but he was never really a friendly rival to begin with. Anyway, while I love the idea here, why did they have to do it to my boy? Actually, I'm surprised that more characters DON'T say anything at all about us getting Legendary or Mythical Pokemon. They're just like "Oh, you caught (Legendary/Mythical Pokemon)? That's cool. I had pancakes this morning" like they're as common as a Caterpie.
And I am 100% with you on the intentional vs unintentional thing. A person's intentions don't dictate the impact of their consequences. Even if Kieran's family meant well, that doesn't magically erase any potential harm that could've been done. That's like saying Lusamine, whose original intention was to find a way to find her husband again (or something like that), is magically repented from the harm she put Gladion and Lillie through just because she had good intentions. Or, for example, you could say Team Magma and Team Aqua have good intentions when they wake up Groudon or Kyogre, but they're seen as evil groups for a reason: because they do harm. Lysandre is a perfect example of this- or better yet, AZ is a perfect example of this! You could argue that AZ had good intentions with the Weapon by ending the great war and reviving his Pokemon that was killed because of it, but does that change the fact that he killed a bunch of people and Pokemon for it? No, it doesn't.
That's like saying a parent who gives you minimal attention isn't guilty of neglect or something because their intention was to prepare you for the real world. There's literally an old saying that goes something like, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". If you hurt someone, whether it be physically. mentally, or emotionally, your intentions don't really mean anything. Can it make your actions more understandable? Perhaps, but that doesn't change how your actions/intentions impacted other people. Even if they're unintentional, that behavior still affects someone, like how the pressure from the village and Kieran's family would still impact him in a negative way, even if they didn't mean to.
Sorry for the rant, that went a bit deeper than I meant to, I just got too into the writing-
Main Character Cust Support
So, this grew out of a discussion that @f0xywrites, me, and a third party who wishes to remain anonymous, had on the AUgust Writing Challenge fanfic server.
One of us said "I think I've wrecked my character beyond all repair. Maybe I should return him for a refund." And that sparked an idea--which rapidly turned into this!
So here's Episode One of the "Character Support Chronicles". Let us know if you enjoy it!
Rating: Gen; Words: 1581
TW: very passing mentions of rape and childhood traumas
Episode One:
Marge smiled politely at the angry author in front of her station. “I am sorry, sir, but this character clearly does not meet the standards of our return policy.” She pointed at the large sign on the wall behind all of the desk agents.
Main Characters must be returned in their original condition.
No cash refunds. MCs may only be exchanged for characters of similar age and gender or credit toward future characters.
No returns after the character has appeared in an uploaded fic.
Excessive returns by authors may revoke your rights to future credit.
Marge indicated the character in front of her, still enclosed in her tiny shimmering orb, the blues, greens, and pinks swirling about her like a translucent abalone shell. “She appears in 3D. Clearly she’s been featured in a work that has been made available to the public. All of our MCs are released in 2D until uploaded.”
“I don’t care!” The author fumed. “She doesn't trust men at all–not even me!”
Marge picked up her scanner and aimed it at the MC’s barcode. She studied the profile. “Sir, you specifically said you wanted her for a Rape and Revenge storyline–”
“But–” he pointed a finger in her face. At that moment her desk phone rang. “One moment, sir,” she said, before picking it up.
“Customer Service, this is Marge, how may I help you?”
“Yes, I’d like to make a complaint. I ordered a fully fleshed out Main Character–Roger B, and I was writing him today and this guy has no hobbies–and no friends! This is NOT what I had in mind when I placed this order!”
“I’m so sorry to hear that you’re dissatisfied, ma’am. May I call you ma’am? Do you have your order number or character barcode?” Marge listened, then pulled up the character specs. “Thank you, I have your information in front of me. It appears the character is still unused. If you would like, we can send a replacement, one that functions a bit better and is more on the social side. Great, I’ll get that out to you shortly. Would you prefer a smaller, more intimate friend group or a larger group with fewer close connections?  Thank you, it was my pleasure to assist you, we just ask that you be more specific in your order for next time. Hope that you enjoy the experience!"
With an internal sigh, Marge turned back to Mr. Angry. She held up a hand warningly. “I absolutely can not process this as a return. However I can give you a one time free upgrade of “Character Undergoes Intensive Therapy” that may resolve some of the issues you’re having with her.”
He thought it over. “Will she be able to find true love?”
Marge wasn’t about to over promise. “With a man? I can not guarantee that, sir, no.”
“That’s okay,” he said. “She can like anybody she wants. I just want her to have a family.”
Marge smiled. Maybe Mr. Angry wasn’t so bad after all.
*****
“Customer Service, this is Bill, how may I help you?”
"Yeah, I ordered a character with a messed up childhood, and I'm not satisfied."
"I'm sorry to hear that, sir. If your character is too well-adjusted, we could have our Freak Squad take a look at him or her..."
"No, that's not what I meant--this character--damn--I wanted some Hurt/Comfort, but way too much fucked up shit has happened to this guy!"
“I am very sorry to hear that, sir, but retrofitting like that is simply not something our company does. You’ll be much happier taking your Character for some after-market work at Fluff Corp. May I transfer you to them now?”
“I guess if that’s my best option, then fine.”
“And, sir, if I may make a suggestion? So that Fluff Corp knows what you’re after, you might try “difficult” instead of “messed up” when placing your childhood order. Thank you, please hold the line…”
*****
“Hello this is Fluff Corp, where your teeth may rot but your stories never will! My name is Keiko. How may I help you today?”
“Yeah, I’m Ed. I got a fucked up character.”
“Oh, I see! Sorry to hear that, Ed. May I suggest one of our specialist departments? I could get you over to someone in Soulmates for a ‘Love Heals’ story arc, or Found Family is always so popular for that–but if you really need a total reboot I can recommend our FixIt Fic hotline.”
Keiko felt a tap on her shoulder and looked up to see her coworker Abdul who was just coming back from break. He whispered, “Another fucked up?”
She covered the mouthpiece of her phone and nodded. “Another one. Came in on the aftermarket number so it’s not one of our Originals.”
Brenda from PWP was passing by and overheard them. “What the hell are they doing over at Plots, Inc these days? Some of these cases are brutal.”
“Are you still there?” Ed’s voice resonated from the headset in Keiko’s hand.
“Oh, I beg your pardon, Ed, yes, I’m here,” Keiko said, shrugging at Brenda and Abdul. As she resumed her call, she heard Brenda whisper to him, “I had a guy the other day who couldn’t figure out why his MC kept safewording in a scene. Turns out Plots gave him claustrophobia from being locked in the closet as a child and then happily released him in a sub role with no TWs!”
Abdul was horrified. “That’s just irresponsible.”
Meanwhile, Ed was growing insistent. “I just want the fastest, most effective route.”
Keiko studied the profile he had uploaded to her tablet, and accessed the Guilty Conscience panel. Nothing. She tried Commitment Issues next, then Addiction. Still nothing. That narrowed it down a great deal. Feeling confident now, she brought up Unresolved Trauma.
“Bingo,” she said.
“Bingo?” Ed asked, puzzled.
“I’ve located the problem.” She grabbed her stylus and sketched out a quick spider diagram. “Are you sure you want fastest and most effective? Just so you are aware, that may involve an upcharge and perhaps memory loss by your MC.”
“And don’t forget, there can be severe aftereffects later if your character experiences a triggering event,” Abdul piped up from behind her. Keiko opened her mouth to pass that along but apparently Ed had heard him.
“I’m sure. I need this character ready to go as soon as possible! The idea train hasn’t exactly been kind lately. I can’t miss it when it decides to show up!”
“Understood. I’m going to conference in someone from Time Travel. We will drone drop a “childhood best friend’ and a “deus ex machina by a trusted adult” at appropriate points in your character’s development. That should get them out of the headspace they’re currently stuck in. I’m still going to note your file, though, because a healthy dose of Found Family or Voyage of Self Discovery is strongly recommended in these cases.”
“Noted,” Ed said.
“And please update the character profile with any applicable trigger warnings so that when our Butterfly Effect department runs the simulation to approve the Time Travel fix, they don’t overlook any complicating variables.”
“I’ll do that right now. How long will this all take?”
Keiko checked her phone. The green light was on, indicating Time Travel had an operator available. “I’m conferencing them in right now, and assuming all goes well, you should be ready to write in around 45 minutes,” she estimated.
“Fantastic!” Ed enthused. “When we’re done here, do you have a supervisor I can talk to about your superior help today?”
Keiko felt herself blushing. “That’s very kind of you, Ed, now I’m still on the line but let me welcome Cynthia to the conversation…”
*****
Keiko and Abdul were exhausted at the end of their shift. Keiko just put her head down on the desk and contemplated going to sleep right there. Abdul pulled out a few sticks of gum. He’d recently quit smoking and the second he was finished with the phones he would start chewing.
“Guys! Guys! Guys!” Keiko heard Brenda’s voice. Reluctantly she sat up. The other woman was hurrying over.
“You guys will never believe what’s been going on over at Plots, Inc! Their new VP of Character Development came from Angst and Self-Loathing. Before that she was over SickFics-”
“Oh my God–no wonder!” Keiko couldn’t believe it.
“Yep, classic Hurt Without Comfort/Whump Is My Life type! And she’s overseeing all their new main characters!”
Abdul groaned. “Wonderful. Plots, Inc is now the Angst No Comfort Bureau. And you know who is going to get all the fallout from this, right?”
Keiko nodded. “They’d better get it together or we’re going to be spending all our work hours trying to bring everybody’s Dead Doves back to life.”
“I need a vacation,” Abdul muttered. He looked hopefully over at Brenda. “Do you think they might need someone in Pillow Fights or Cuddle Piles for a few weeks?”
Brenda snorted. “Not a chance, man.” She bit her lip and thought it over. “You know, though, they were wanting someone to shadow an exec over in Slice of Life next quarter. Want me to talk to somebody for you?
Abdul snapped his gum. “Yes please. I’ll go back to smoking if I have to play MC therapist all day every day.”
Brenda turned to Keiko. “How about you?”
Keiko smiled, remembering Ed and his character. “Nah, I’m good,” she said. “I love what I do.”
May I write a fanfic inspired by your Future Krang Donatello au idea?
Of course! ^ ^ Just please credit me for the original idea. I also give more because I'm happy someone even asked.
Two possible paths for getting a D in the past.
1.
D is one of the original invading Krang. So when Casey Jr goes back in time he not only has to deal with family that looks similar but different and don't remember him, but also what was like his weird uncle who looks almost the same and is the enemy. He knew that since D was a Krang there was a time he was on their side, but actually seeing it?
This could be a good thing though! They got D to join before they could do it again. With how early on it is in the apocalypse D could fix most of, if not all, the damage caused by the Krang! That's what D did, he fixed things! …Everything but himself.
Except it was sensei that got him to join and Casey isn't sure how. Also trying to convince the others that one of the aliens that stole Raph could be an ally isn't going well, especially not with Leo.
Casey unknowingly already starts to make D wander off from the other Krang. How did a human have tech he didn't remember building? It even had his marking! It was going to get to the bottom of this.
2.
D going back in time with Casey. Future Leo doesn't want the kid to go alone and, minus the apocalypse, D has honestly made their lives so much better with his tech. Clean water, fresher air, whatever those weird plants D grew for food. Stuff the turtles didn't have growing up despite April trying her best to make things easier. If Casey Jr was going to be staying there he deserved to not live in conditions worse than the apocalypse.
People in the past, of course, freaked out about the alien that randomly appeared out of nowhere and "abducted" a child. April investigating it meant they didn't have to look for her and saved some time. Also, Casey didn't get hit because D grabbed April's arm to stop her, saving time with the whole unconscious thing. No disbelief on the Krang since D is right there. Did have to stop so Splinter could freak out a bit though.
They were able to get the key before it was even used. D has the footage of the foot clan's faces when they saw him helping stop them saved in a special folder. D almost immediately after starts fixing up the lair. D gets what Leo meant now, there's no way the hatchling should have to live like this. He just soaks up the past turtles' awe.
D keeps poking fun at how tiny past Leo is. When Leo asks how tall he is D shows a life-sized hologram. Raph starts crying. Little brothers aren't supposed to be that big! D shows older Raph and Raph cries tears of relief that he's still big enough to carry his little brother. D thinks it best not to tell him how long ago the photo was taken. Mikey asks about him and cries because he's still so small.
D being blunt with others. Raph and Leo fight and D is tired of it. Raph's just afraid of you getting hurt and Leo's afraid of not being good enough for you so he's purposely failing! Just co-lead or something!
They… really like that idea and decide to try it out. It works pretty well since Raph knows he can rely on Leo's ideas and Leo can rely on Raph's experience and general big brother instincts. If they fail then they can't blame themselves because then they'd be blaming the other too. Wait, does this me Leo has to thank D? Dang it.
Bonus things for both:
D building a technodrome just so I can have Technodrome Shelldon. He grabs the core AI before they leave, either while fighting the other Krang in the past in 1 or escaping with Leo in the future. It took centuries of research and construction to create this one, and it's a shame to just leave it, but it's not what makes his creation truly amazing.
Leo and D getting into a slap fight. D doesn't have hands and it sounds like wet spaghetti hitting a wall. No one can look away.
D making Casey hover skates. They float a couple of inches off the ground and glide smoothly. It takes some practice though and D both holds his hands to keep him steady and will use his body as a crash pad if Casey Jr starts to go out of control. Better slamming into D than a wall. Casey learns pretty fast and can now easily keep up running with the turtles.
