Tagging @yuuugay (three U's might be hard, but I believe in you, Yuki!), and @georgiedoesntfloat (I'm sure you'll find some awesome songs!), and anyone who'd like to do this too! (Sorry for not tagging anyone else, I actually did like 96% of this two days ago then my brain decided it couldn't think of more people who like music and it hasn't been cooperating with me since. :/ Did I go overboard with the colors? Idk, but I'm leaving it.)

scorched earth (3/?)
Note: This story is set in the world of my very long Maleficent/Aurora fanfiction The Prisoner (which you can read here if you want), but focuses almost entirely on original characters. There is no need to read The Prisoner to understand what is going on--this story stands on its own and will give you all the background info you need. Please also note the general content warning; I will not give specific warnings by chapter.

Senna realizes belatedly that she must have taken much longer in the garden than she could possibly have imagined. Talking with Euphemia felt like a dream, and once Senna rounds the corner and the sound of Euphemia’s singing fades, Senna wonders whether she didn’t perhaps dream up the whole thing, after all.
Senna’s hand flies to the pendant that still hangs about her neck, as though to check whether it is still there. She takes it up in her hand and examines it. She is sure she’s never seen anything remotely similar before, and the way the gold sparkles could never be mistaken for a trick of the light. This, like what happened in Senna’s garden, is undeniably magical.
She comes back inside to find a cover over her food, and Abigail at the sink washing up.
“Oh, I wish you’d leave the dishes to me,” says Senna.
“Too late,” says Abigail cheerfully. “You can wash your own plate when you’re done, I suppose, if it’s so terribly important to you.” She shakes off her hands and pats them dry on a dish towel. “What took you so long? Too many to choose from?”
Senna falters. “Not exactly.”
