Soul/maka/crona is probably the only time I’ve ever been like “(x character) has two hands” simply because maka is genuinely so insane over both of them that it feels like a genuine reading of the text as opposed to like… shoving two vastly different relationships into one big relationship. Also because I think its incredibly funny. Putting crona/maka/soul/ragnarok/that dumb fucking cat together in one apartment is a hysterical concept.

If I wrote a (longer) fanfic it would be crona struggling with medical trauma probably and also dealing with failure in the medical system and facing what your parent chose for you medically even though it hurt your health
I think writing something more realistically rooted in ableism vs trauma is Very Crona and I’m interested in the dynamic Maka and Soul would work at to figure it how to A) make crona comfortable and B) make it work lol because disability changes everyone’s lives and there’s no magic able bodying ray no matter how much money you have (and they don’t have much, and crona isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite patient because of their history)

𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 - 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬!
❀ , ☼ - featuring: death the kid, soul, blackstar, maka, tsubaki, liz, patty, and crona.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
death the kid
• good luck
• in a relationship, he’d want you to look as symmetrical as possible to him. (i’m outta luck 😍)
• he’s the typa guy to lint roll ur clothes if he sees a piece of dog or cat hair on them.
• dtk is definitely anxious and an overthinker in a relationship
• his love language is gift giving
• he’s not really into too much pda, but if someone starts eyeing you when you’re with him, he’ll start holding your hand or put his arm around your waist.
• he def needs a s/o who has a lot of patience.
• overall he’d be a pretty good boyfriend
soul
• basic teenage boy
• what more can i say
• likes pda
• his love language is physical touch
• he def always have a arm around your shoulder or waist most the time
• he likes when you take care of him
• yk making sure he’s okay, tending to his wounds and such
• he’d be a pretty chill bf, he is the jealous type tho
blackstar
• slightly annoying boyfriend
• maybe more than slightly
• but if you’re already dating him you should know about his…beaming personality by now
• he’s always doing things to impress you
• like crazy stunts and trying to fight randos
• he def gets super worried abt you if you get hurt or sick
• very protective over you
• love language is words of affirmation
• he’s also another jealous type
• and immature
• but super loving
maka
• a good s/o
• puts all her trust in you to do the right things, have her back, etc
• not really the jealous type but if she does happen to get jealous, she’ll be quiet about it
• she’ll cook, clean, basically do anything for you
• she loves when you compliment her, anything about her tbh
• not really too into pda, but a little hand holding and hugging is okay.
• her love language is a mix of gift giving and words of affirmation
tsubaki
• very good gf
• she doesn’t rlly get jealous because she trusts you and she knows that she has nothing to worry about
• her love language is physical touch
• she loves when you hold her hand or when you give her small kisses on the cheek
• she loves it when you rake your hands through her hair
• she also loves when you feel her up (🤭)
• overall she’s pretty chill, but she does get nervous about some things
• and any time she does, she goes to you right away.
liz
• very mature
• she is just simple in a relationship
• like don’t lie, don’t cheat, and it’s all good
• she knows when she’s in the wrong, and she’ll call you out for the same thing too.
• only gets jealous when it’s justified
• like if someone started flirting with you right in front of her
• her love language is quality time
patty
• good gf
• she’s just a ray of sunshine tbh
• only time y’all have relationship problems is when she feels like you aren’t giving her enough attention
• her love language is physical touch
• she’s always on you in some way
• her favorite way to be on you is by piggyback riding
• she doesn’t rlly get jealous tbh
• she don’t think of things that deeply 😭
crona
• oh my
• VERY anxious s/o
• they don’t rlly know what to do
• for like anything
• so crona’s always like “Am I doing this wrong?” when it comes to ANYTHING in the relationship
• def needs a s/o that can give lots of reassurance and has patience.
• crona would get jealous often, and it would be obvious
• love language is def quality time
• you just have to be patient with crona, if something happens and they don’t understand what they did wrong, you’d just need to be able to explain everything in GREAT detail so crona understands.

Hey! Since you mentioned "Soul Eater" before, can I ask what you think about it? From the anime, from the manga (if you read it), the powers, the story in general, the ships, the chops, the humor, etc.
The anime was stunning! I love that it managed to translate the gothic but campy vibe the manga had. The soundtrack was insane too. I used to be so obsessed with Paper Moon and the second ED. Even the character OSTs like Kidd's theme and BlackStar's theme were really good, even if the lyrics didn't make a lot of sense.
The character designs and powers/fighting style for each character was soooo cool btw. The aesthetic for this whole show was just so good. Like. If Tim Burton and Doctor Seuss went and collaborated on an anime idk what I'm saying.
Tumblr media
And the animation for the fight scenes were just mesmerizing. Bones(the animation studio) are just real damn good at what they do.
Tumblr media
Seeing Maka fight with that giant scythe changed my life. At the time shounen rather than shoujo/slice of life anime were my thing. It was my first time seeing a female main protag for a shounen anime, that was probably one of the reasons I was as obsessed with the show as I was. I saw myself in maka for many reasons, i loved her a lot.
I had my gripes with the anime. Like. The ending was a lil weird with how they defeated Asura, but I did love that it had Maka also be a weapon. Also the fact that Crona was alive and well by the end is a nice bonus.
Tumblr media
I vividly remember being obsessed with this scene in particular. I had such a huge crush on them lmao
Also not to like out my cringey 12 yo self, but I used to ship Crona/Kidd. Looking back it's so funny.
Soul/Maka is still one of my favorites anime ships ever tho. Ships that start off being besties that gradually turn romantic are just always gonna be my favorite i guess
Tumblr media
Also just... Soul's dedication to always keep Maka safe was so dang sweet??? He'd catch a sword on the chest for her. He'd break her fall for her. He'd really do anything for her. Like damn...
As for the manga, yes I did read it! I think it ended when I was in high school? I followed the manga as it updated along with other mangas like Pandora Hearts and Reborn etc. Soul Eater was the only shounen I finished reading (Unless PH counts as shounen. I don't think it does...).
The direction it went with was so painful. Crona leaving Maka and going back to Medusa was my NaruSaku fallout istg. It sucks that things didn't end happily for Crona in the manga, but I still enjoyed the journey it put me through. As dark as it was, the chapter where Crona finally kills Medusa was kinda cathartic.
And although the manga didn't have weapon!Maka, i like the upgrade when she honed the abilities of her grigori soul. Maka riding scythe!Soul like Cardcaptor Sakura with her magic staff was so cool. And the way she had Soul's blade turn into piano keys and turned the black blood into a dress was kinda badass. I wish we get to see these in reboot FMA brotherhood style someday
Tumblr media
The humor was great. My brothers and I still quote/reference a lot of the funny stuff from it. I just wish it wasn't one of those animes that can get so pervy to the point it's uncomfortable....
Anyways, loved it a lot. Sorry I probably could have talked about Kidd and BlackStar too and I love them, but this reply would be a lot longer than i have the energy to do lol. They're popular anyways. This show had one of the best female anime characters in Maka and it will probably always have a special place in my heart.
And the chops? Great as always

Why Maka and Crona works so well together
Tumblr media
Probably my favorite part about any series is relationships between characters, what dynamics they have, how shared history drastically affects how they act together, and one of the reasons i love shonen so much, is how great the genre is at taking a relationship of mutual enemies, and flipping it on its head through two very disconnected souls suddenly developing a shared understanding, and a new and powerful bond blossoming from that.
Naruto and Gaara, Luffy and... Everyone, Izuku and Todoroki, heck series like Hajime no Ippo pretty much runs on this kinda dynamic. Even Fairy Tail, which didnt exactly start off great, and only got worse, managed to squeeze out one absolutely excellent character using this dynamic in the form of Gajeel and his relationship with the rest of the fairy tail crew.
In Soul Eater, this method of storytelling is used, speciffically to create the single best relationship between characters that the franchise ever made, in the form of Maka and her rival turned bestie Crona.
I'll leave a full analysis of why the actual fight that formed this relationhip was the series highlight for another day, as what i wanna focus on here is analysing what it is that makes this relationship so great post Crona's heelturn.
Tumblr media
What makes Maka and Crona's relationship such a special thing, both in universe and from a storytelling perspective, is that both of them compliment the other perfectly, and helps them to grow... But it's not really spelled out the way that a less talented series might do.
Now with Crona, the way Maka helps in development and growth for the demon swordmaster is pretty obvious.
Timid, shy, afraid, and would much rather stay inside a dark safe, dark shell. That is how Crona starts the series, and doesnt exactly lose these qualities once Medusa's direct influence is lifted.
But that is not what Crona actually wants.
What Crona wants is to connect with people, but is way too terrified to try, as well as risking failing while doing so.
Crona needs someone who is willing to prod and poke, but also to show gentleness while doing so.
What makes their relationship hit so hard from day 1 is how Maka understands Crona completely, and is willing, and wants to give Crona the help and support to break the hold of Medusa. But not only that, Maka WANTS to be around Crona, valuing their relationahip enough that she is willing to stand up to Shinigami to defend Crona if necessary.
Maka thusly serves as Crona's anchorpoint, the center of all character growth and developments. She brings out all the best qualities out of Crona.
Tumblr media
But the thing is that this goes both ways, because while the way Maka brings Crona out of the dark shell and into the Light, Crona does the exact same, just in a more subtle manner.
Maka at the start of the series, is a girl that is absolutely defined by her flaws, and all of those flaws are rooted in, not too dissimilar from Crona, fear.
Tumblr media
"I wish all of you would just die!"
The total breakdown of her parents relationship, personally witnessing her father's many affairs, and not at all having come to terms with her mother abandoning her, has left Maka with a fear of many, many things.
At the start of the series, that fear manifests itself as being terrified at Soul abandoning her, her being completely unable to find it in herself to try to make up with her father, and her inability to confront the fact her mother abandoned her.
All of it comes together and it brings out all of her worst qualities.
Tumblr media
Her hyper agressiveness, her short temper, her complete and total inability of giving her partner and friend soul the benefit of the doubt, and so on.
It also manifests itself in several moments where Maka's fear of danger hamstrings her, like when the sheer power of Stein's soul brings her to her knees, or when her hesitation to using Soul as a weapon(out of fear that he would get hurt) during her first fight with Crona ended up with him having to block an attack in human form, which drastically inreased the actual damage he would have taken as opposed to if she had just blocked the standard way.
Even when Soul was gravely injured, this fear also manifested itself as her being completely unable to really show how devastated she was over how badly he was hurt on her behalf before she was alone with the unconcious Soul.
She was afraid of her father, of stein, of anyone else seeing just how hard things could hit her.
This is not to say that Soul and Maka had an absolute trainwreck of a relationship at the beginning of the series, quite on the contrary.
Tumblr media
They have a relatively functioning relationship, where they act as nagging siblings, or a bickering old married couple, but there is always that ugly side of their relationship hiding just under the surface, all fueled by Maka's flaws and fears.
But there is also the opposite, moments where the two strengthen each other, or take the bullet for the other if need be.
But what their relationship does not have, is Soul helping Maka truly grow past her flaws.
Maka at the start of the series and the person she was when she faced Crona a second time was a braver soul than she was in episode 1, but she had not grown past her flaws, merely become hardened, strengthened by expiriences.
Her truly changing from the girl dealing with the aftermath of her parents divorce, into the young woman that would defeat Asura, began in that basement surrounded by pillars.
Tumblr media
After their shared experience of connecting to the other's souls, and understanding who Crona was deep down, Maka does something she hasn't truly been able to do since her parents divorce.
She shows genuine, honest compassion and kindness withouth the fear of rejection.
Compassion, understanding, and giving someone the benefit of the doubt.
It all begins here.
This is the point where Maka really begins healing from her parents divorce, where she is finally able to truly bare her heart to another person again withouth the nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she is setting herself up for failure, that was always the big problem with her and Soul's relationship.
Crona is not the only source of Maka's development in the latter half of the series, but it all began here, and Crona keeps bringing out all of Maka's best qualities just by being close to her.
Tumblr media
Maka brings out Crona's kidness, bravery, and a deep, deep wish to connect with everyone else, while Crona in turn brings out Maka's compassionate side, her kidness, her understanding side, all of which she had very deliberately buried at the beginning of the series.
Tumblr media
And it all culminates in the sand pit, where Maka discovers that her faith in Crona ultimately was misplaced, and she got backstabbed, just as she always feared... And rather than fly off the handle, she reacts with a display of tough love... That is rooted in understanding, and compassion.
She forgives Crona, because she understands. She knows Crona, and she knows just how deep down the scars Medusa gave bites, and so she reacts with understanding, she gives Crona the benefit of the doubt, and her support, a far, far cry from the impulsive and angry girl who screamed that All men should just die in epsiode 1 after feeling hurt by Soul's seeming betrayal.
Tumblr media
And when she thinks Crona is about to die, the girl who was once absolutely terrified of showing anyone around her how she felt when she tought Soul might be about to die in a similar situation, and kept it all in, no longer does so, because such display of stoicism to keep face, rather than show the people you care abouy you actually love them, wasn't really worth much to begin with.
Maka Grows a lot over the course of Soul Eater, but the development that really, truly matters, is all rooted in her relationship to Crona.
Understanding, forgiveness, the bravery to take the moral high ground, to show how you truly feel rather than keep up a facade that isnt really you... To happily take the risk of being hurt by opening your heart because you know the warmth and joy that only comes by opening yourself to another person... It's a side of her that only Crona was able to bring out, the same way that only Maka was able to bring out the best aspects of Crona.
And that, is why they have the best relationship in Soul Eater.

Platonic Yandere Soul Eater Gang x reader
Tumblr media
A/N: So, I've been posting a lot of One Piece stuff, so I thought I would be good to break up with other fandoms I'm interested in. Soul Eater is an Anime I haven't watched in a while but really enjoy so I wanted to write something involving the main group. I also want to write for OHSHC and maybe even twisted wonderland and Genshin. Anyway, please like or reblog if you enjoy. Thank you!
The Soul Eater gang is filled with a bunch of odd ball characters. From an outsider's perspective, it is hard to tell that they are even friends. They are almost always arguing, and if they aren't there's an argument waiting to happen.
I like to think that you were a knew student at the DWMA, weapon or meister, it doesn't matter. What matters is that, to these kids, you were interesting. You most likely met Maka first, Soul never too far from her. After that, she introduced you to the others, and the rest was history.
Soul and Maka were like you shadow, never far from you once you became friends with them. Soul is obsessed with anything 'cool' and in his eyes, you are such. You'll never know it, but he constantly worrying about reaching your expectations. Most of the time when he's around you, he's laid back, and compared to the rest of the gang, isn't super possessive. When he's with Maka though, he's more inclined to get upset if someone interrupts your time with him.
Maka is a lot like her weapon, in the case that she isn't possessive over you and your time. She does like hanging out with you and will often spend time studying with you, sometimes even with Kid and Tsubaki. The only thing that gets Maka riled up with you getting hurt. It's something that effects all of them, but Maka always feels as though it is her fault when you get her. She is not afraid to put herself in danger if it means protecting you.
Speaking of Black Star, he is a lot. Just hanging out with him drains a lot of your energy. Out of all of them, Black Star is the one that takes most of your time, not being afraid to threaten someone who is trying to take you away from him. Tsubaki sometimes tries to calm him down, but deep down Tsubaki is just as protective as the rest of the group.
Tsubaki is super sweet. She loves hanging out with you and wishes so much of your time wasn't taken up with school. She hates seeing how stressed you are and will do whatever she can to fix it. She understands that Black Star is a lot to handle, so she's often the one who calms Black Star down when he gets too worked up. However, Black Star and Tsubaki have a hidden understanding, both of them being the one who protect you. If you even go on a mission with them, Black Star and Tsubaki will work his hardest to protect you, both expecting your praise after defeating any threat to you or your safety.
Kid is the strangest. While he loves being your friend, he sometimes feels as though he doesn't deserve your friendship. He wants to be perfect for you, he needs to be perfect for you, and will settle for nothing less. He also encourages you to be your best self, doting on you in every sense. He makes sure you are eating right and keeping up with your studies and training, along with making sure you don't stress yourself out with schoolwork. He wants you to be the best version of yourself, feeling a sense of pride when you accomplish something. Kid is also possessive and will use his status in the school to intimidate students into leaving you alone. He doesn't like when others criticize you, or even talk to you, so he will always drag you away when others try and take up your time, complaining about the so called "useless students."
Once Crona joins the school, they also take a liking to you. They are naturally shy and, like kid, don't believe they deserve you and your kindness. They feel the most content when they are with you and want to be around you constantly. They despise Ragnarök and how he constantly embarrasses them but feels somewhat better when you don't mind. Crona cares a lot about your opinion and will sometimes go as far as changing things about themself to better please you, only stopping when you say not to. Crona also doesn't feel the need to be possessive over you, feeling as though that's wrong, even if they hate it when you are not near them.
All together, they care about you deeply, and want you to be as happy as possible. While they might disagree on a lot of things, they do agree on one thing and that's you. I like to think that Maka manipulates you to move in with her and Soul so that they can keep better track of you and relay that back to the others when needed. You wouldn't really even notice their weird behaviors, since, other than Black Star, are really good at hiding the most negative aspects. If you do ever point out their behavior, they won't hesitate to quilt you into staying with them, referencing how much they've been though, and how they wouldn't make it if you left them.

So, I got blocked for replying to this post here
Tumblr media
I commented and pointed out to OP that the relationship during adolescence being referred to in this very good book they show is NOT child to child, but adult to child. That is the type of attachment needed for healthy development.
I also recommended the excellent book The Boy Who Was Raised As A Dog by Dr. Bruce Perry for further reading on the topic of child trauma. My comment to OP was kind and supportive, but still pointing out the error in their interpretation.
But, my comment was deleted and I got blocked.
CroMa fandom, why you in denial about the fact that Crona needs THERAPY???
Thing is... It could have been anyone to exorcise Crona. It just happened to be Maka. But Crona would have developed a dependency on whoever had first reached out to them. Maka isn't special. Maka was just the one who was there. And to really heal, Crona needs professional help. A romance or even a friendship isn't gonna magically solve Crona's problems. Neither will antidepressants or other drugs. Children need a positive adult attachment. This is well-established brain science, not opinion.
Highkey think y'all know that, CroMa stans, and don't wanna admit it cuz...you think it would sink your ship? 🤔 Idk. A kid can have friends, that is normal but that can't be their primary relationship. That's not healthy for anyone, and especially not for someone in deep trauma.
Anyway, guess polite conversation get blocked now. Oh well.

Hello!! How are you??
Could I request Death the kid and Crona With a Fem!S/O who has a Sangomiya Kokomi Personality from Genshin Impact ??
Thank you!!
Tumblr media
Sorry for it being so short! Again I don't know anything about Genshin Impact other than a few voice actors.
Death the Kid
-Finally! Someone with some patience.
-At least with him.
-Most people stop paying attention to him as so as he goes on a rant about symmetry, but you stay and listen, which he appreciates.
-Liz doesn't understand how you can be so calm with him, can't you just him to shut up?
-Patty doesn't care, she's happy with a new friend.
-You're also incredibly understanding.
-This along with the patience makes him ecstatic to have you as a spouse.
-If you dress like her, he'll worry about how everything you wear could be slightly uneven.
-Never the less, He's greatful for you.
Crona Gorgon
-You were so polite when you two met.
-They just couldn't understand.
-You weren't as forward as the others. Where they were straight-forward and to the point.
-While Maka is a lot more extroverted, you're a bit more introverted, Crona feels like they have a bit more of a understanding with you when it comes to talking with people.
-The best part, for them, is you can give them space when needed, and be near when attention is craved.
-Loves you to the ends of the earth.
