Alright, buckle up, i have no idea how long this is gonna be!

Soup is one of the oldest of the clones, being alive even before Shiro's escape from galra(back then Haggar just wanted to have a backup in case her champion died) - so she has a lot of experience in fighting..... not so much when it comes to stuff like. y'know. reading. she did pick up a few languages though! She knows english(maybe beacuse she does have some of Shiro's memories?? i havent decided yet) and galran pretty well, but can understand propably like 5 or more besides that - though she mostly listens and rarely talks herself.

Shes a quick learner and great at adapting to new situations! After shit hit the fan('the black paladins' happened) and she suddenly found herself in a new, unfamiliar world Soup started searching for other survivors - and she found Tashi, hours old and very confused, and later the other five.

Soup is independent(or at least tries really hard to be) and doesnt like following someone else's ideas, so at first working toghether with Tashi and the others was difficult - but she learns fast, and she feels responsible for their safety.

She appears calm and distant, but really shes afraid of letting out her emotions and hurting the people around her, so she bottles it all up until she cant keep it in anymore, and even then instead of processing everything LIKE A NORMAL PERSON she just lets it all out when no one is watching and the cycle begins anew.

Beacuse she and Tashi were the most emotionally stable people on the planet(its really not a big achievement when theres just 7 of you tho), they had to become The Responsible Adults TM. Soup is patient and keeps calm in stressful situations, but shes not great at long term planning and emotional support(an invaluable skill when dealing with four children) - but that's where Tashi expertise lies! They compliment each other and toghether manage to keep their weird little family relatively safe and happy(most of the time)

Soup loves cooking(shes nowhere near Hunk's level, but shes not bad either, especially considering the circumstances) - youre telling me food can taste good?? and not look like wet cardboard??? Holy shit!!!

She also collects cool rocks! Whenever she finds a really neat one she goes around showing it to everyone

The youngest kid, Taka, thinks shes the coolest person in the world(even if she eats bugs sometimes)

Theres propably more, but this is long enough already! Shes cool and strong and brave and i love her!

I hesitate to call anyone evil because they all just kinda have their own crazy interlocking mental illnesses that drive them to do terrible things to and with eachother. that said. YEAH MAW IS. I could argue Starlight is the main perpetrator becayse maw wouldn't have hurt another iterator without her influence butttt you asked about maw so I will respond.

maw, even for an iterator, has a hell of a God complex going on. immense greed and solitude driving her to maintain the cult of her colony. she was actually a very generous god, if ruthless, but Hella xenophobic to both other iterators whom she considered lowly in comparison to her divine splendor and also anyone trying to immigrate into her colony as it upsets her sense of control.

this is. uhm. kind of a problem since around when she's built is when the great equalizer really hits full force and ancient kind is scrambling for any space avaliable. ash is a clusterfuck ATM, sparks is full, and maw has used her puppet admin to close immigration. and their group is fairly isolated. so. like. yikes ! they start scrambling for space on sparks and keep building on top of her, and at some point have to expand horizontally and extend her structure. sounds cool! except when you consider theyre doing the construction while she's fully awake, the extra processing power is overclocking and overstimulating the shit out of her, all while she's trying to tend to a mega colony. it's fucking hell and she begs ash to do something to get maw to share the burden, anything to make it stop. and. hold on I wrote a broadcast abt this

so maw basically says "L get fucked" because she refuses to submit to lower gods who can't even control their people. this kind of is the root of all of sparks trauma and hrr eventual actions against her and ash but this is abt maw.

after mass ascension... she kinda has a crisis because. no worshippers! so naturally she creates purposed organisms to inhabit her can. however it eventually goes arwy and they start ripping eachother apart. and maw just finds this cathartic and is like 'oh really? let me show you real carnage' and just keeps bioengineering more insane shit. in her own little bubble ignoring everyone 'below her' for a very long time. hypocritically she also fucking hates sparks soo much for her false seniority and her superior power [from the expansion maw directly caused....] and other things but. that doesn't really matter until later and sparks is terrified of her so they don't interact.

this is a side point but the gladiator campaign happens somewhere around here. Hella busted slugcat in her brutal can who must impress her to escape. they end up 'fightinf' her [trying to survive her boss fight long enough] and they're the one to bite and break her antenna LOL

until.... overseers of pale pink manage to squeeze through her can, and, eventually, Starlight reaches her and speaks of her [and whispers] work to get them off the string. u see maw wouldn't care but both of them are soo vulnerable and just ripe for the taking! and God is she desperate to fufill her complex. they mainly want her help for the ability to bioengineering to break iterator internals, most primarily the arm to free the puppet. so maw makes them kneel and beg for divine aid [or starlight anyways. yes it is as homoerotic as you imagine]. they kind of drive whispers away and just loop into eachothers worst desires. driving starlight deeper into her irrational and desperate impulses and maw deeper into violence and wrath rather than godlike benevolence. maw basically loaded starlights gun and gave her threats to remove herself from her structure credence.

so eventually they turn on whispers, who's fallen out of use to them and is already growing more fearful and growing wise. the final catalyst is them spotting colorburst being sent to ash as an attempt to wake him and invoke his seniority to stop them by whispers.

maw sends the purposed organisms she designed to whispers can and they rip their puppet free. against their will. but they get the chance for one final scream, an emergency broadcast that becomes complete pandemonium for their group...

I did not fucking care for like the first 20 issues of doom patrol 1987 and almost dropped it until i reached the grant morrison run and it was instantly so good i couldnt stop reading. Ive said this to my friends before but i would say its comparable to the works of stephen king in both the good and the bad ways. It was a good comic in the same way "It" was a good book

The 60s one is fine and i enjoyed it (it has rita! but so does the tv show so if you want to see her but dont want to read a 60s comic you can watch her there) but if youre in it for the surreal really weird storylines you mightve heard rumors of from dp the 80s run is where it all begins. honest to god id say just skip the issues until grant morrison takes over theyre so BORINGGGGG. cant rec this comic enough mostly out of spite for the fact that when most people think of young justice they think of the swagless cartoon and not this beautiful team of teens. For one, the kids actually act like teens in the comic and not young adults having stupid relationship drama. Theyre sweet and stupid and care about eachother and the storylines are really thoughtful and opinionated. a lot of what im saying is regurgitated from things my much more eloquent friend monty has said about yj but since reading it for myself and now knowing firsthand i cant agree more. There was a really awesome story involving arrowette (cissie king jones) about a school shooting and gun violence. a lot of modern comics take the (pussy) centrist route when dealing with big controversies like this but they literally look to the camera and say GUN CONTROL **PLEASE!!!!!!!!**. in an ealier issue theres this funny moment where bart (impulse) zips away to stop some hunters from killing a deer and kon (superboy) is like did you really violate their AMERICAN right to shoot guns? AWESOME!!!!!!!!

also its just earnestly really really really funny. it has that sam and max style of humor which is why i think i loved it so much.

cant sing enough praises for this comic. Also in the yj show they had dick grayson as the robin for the first season? and wally? why do you hate tim drake and bart allen that much. tim kon and bart are a package deal dont separate them you bitch!

i never really understood the pearl clutching wrt to claudia wanting to have sex. louis was experimenting with boys but he's scandalised that claudia at over 18 is interested in sex. did he really think they froze everything when they turned her? like the minute she asked about love between two men, louis should have known she was growing up.

also lestat knew exactly what he was triggering taking her to lover's lane. and i think he knew what would follow with claudia's sexuality awakening.

i think clauds asking lou about love between two men wasnt so much about her tryna understand her own sexuality but moreso the fact that lxl were prolly the first gay relationship shes ever seen in her life beforehand. cuz before that scene shes writing ‘they have a funny way of being nice with eachother’ and shes looking at lestat’s hand on louis shoulder. louis is pretty clear about wanting claudia bc he couldnt have children, bc he lost his family, whereas lestat sees claudia as a means to keep louis but grows to see her as his child too. mutual babytrap gone terribly wrong. but ur definitely onto something with how lestat takes claudia to hunt at lover’s lane..

les is giving “back in my day, when u reached 14 u understood sexual innuendos” here lol. lestat & louis engorge claudia with luxurious items on their terms: giving her a diary, clothing, scraps of sentiment, and the knowledge of the hunt. an adolescent vampire possesses a reduced level of impulse control, and she shows such, her reactions are beyond control of what lestat + louis terms are even when shes mentally closer to a child in the beginning of her arc. she ends up gorging herself on flesh, to where lestat & louis come under heightened scrutiny bc of it.

now whether u mean fans or lxl characters ‘pearl clutching’, idk but it serves well to why lestat and louis have different reasons for wanting claudia to remain their child, even at the expense of her wants and desires.. if u mean fans i think its bc the costuming/acting on bass’s end suggest claudia in ep4 occupies far more of a childlike role bc she is still mentally young for some parts of the episode. her childish perspective girds our viewpoint in some parts, with the camera at lower angles, fantastical scenes of bones and flesh sticking out when the police inspect the townhouse that logically, could not have been there, the soundtrack even sounds childish if that makes sense. even tho she ages from 14-21 years old in this ep, she is living her second [or first, really] act of childhood. but at some point the ‘child’ wants to be free of their ‘parents’ terms and conditions.

u have a p clear violation of her boundaries when lestat and louis read thru her diary in an attempt to ascertain where she kept the bodies, but theyre also trying to read ‘their’ creation bc shes starting to explore a sense of self outside of being ‘their’ child.

and that sense of ‘self’ includes also, a sexual self. charlie even says he cant believe claudia is a young woman [19 is the age she is at the time they meet?] bc of how young she looks. her killing charlie in a lust filled craze, lestat making her watch him burn, leads claudia to asking what her lot in life will be. why cant she have her lestat, her louis? she fails to make companions bc of her incomplete physical maturation as an adolescent and her weakness at the time as a vampire, killing any companion she tries to make. and its truly a sad lot in life to where creeps & freaks interested in perpetual adolescence/youth r what claudia feels is her only chance at a romantic, much less, sex life.

i think my favorite thing about the josuyasu dynamic is how different they are? like, on the surface they look similar with both of them being entrenched in japanese delinquent culture and aesthetics, but theyre super different in like every other angle!

for one, economic background: okuyasu, while enjoying a middle class life for his toddler years, was basically destitute and very lower class for most of his remembered experience bro lived in squalor the coal mines fr. josuke has lived comfortably middle/upper-middle class his entire life rlly well displayed in the shigechi arc where okuyasu says he'll be putting his lottery winnings into savings + josuke calls him boring and says he's gonna buy a nice new suit with a sexy silhouette like okay gayboy. josuke has NO long term goals or thinking, he just lives life by the day, whereas okuyasu who is shown to have very poor emotional impulse control, still thinks far into the future about when this money will get him out of a tight spot we love a king who thinks (not josuke)

life experience: okuyasu's mom bite the fucken dust FAST LMFAO + he helped his brother kill people + his father beat him + keicho was emotionally abusive + and then his dad turned into snot + ratio + L + rip bozo etc. okuyasu is extremely traumatized :/ he's had to deal with the crushing pressure of financial instability, his dad's abuse and then his dad's 'disability',(condition is probably a better word but disability is very adjecent? idk the nijidad arc has elder abuse vibes as well) and his brother's control issues and neuroticism, and then with the responsibility of all those lives on his hands from the arrow hunting like gawt DAM at least let him grow some fucking chest hair babe DKSAJNASJIFLF so he never grew up with anything stable, other than the longterm goal of solving the problem of his dad's goopification like . zoinks

josuke grew up very privileged, tho not to say he didn't/doesnt experienced social ostracization and bullying at the hadns of his peers and small community for being a biracial bastard w/ a single mom and dressing like a lil freak etc, but his grandpa and mom were a very tight knit support system for him. he's solidly middle class, never moved houses and uprooted himself, has generous spending money, etc. at the beginning of diu you can see he's a lot more bratty and uncaring and even a little selfish, with the callousness he showed towards okuyasu's "death" during the rhcp fight, the rage towards angelo (though justified lmfao pop off), and his overprotectiveness of his appearance. the dude definitely had some way different challenges compared to okuyasus literal murder accomplice shit

grief wise!! my friend noticed that once josuke and okuyasu met eachother, they became sort of "grief soulmates"!! here's what my friend wrote about it:

"the traumas that okuyasu has are all "historical" in some way, rooted pre-canon in deep ways, which can even extend to keichos death in a way because of how the causality works out, and it's the mirror opposite for josuke who has a completely grief-free life until canon starts and brings with it this change in status quo that caused him to develop these new experiences that ended up having claws

so @ the same time as josuke is learning that the world is sometimes awful in truly desperate ways, he's kinda on a 'downward' trajectory in terms of hope and idealism, okuyasu is on his way up because the same change in events actually mark an improvement for him !!! and so they end up meeting in the middle a bit and helping each other stabilise as mirror images

which is that josuke is reaching "out" for comfort, because it's home and closeness thats suddenly new and dangerous, which suits okuyasu well bc hes reaching in, because he has these new centres of comfort and stability in josuke and their friend network + more literally the infrastructure of the town canon connects him with"

basically theyre opposites when it comes to trauma, okuyasu's life is on an incline (kira's murderspree isnt exactly strange to him, even if its still upsetting) and josuke's is on the decline with his grampy drinking murder juice

im trying to finish outlining cots and telling yall my train of thought might help me finish this so here that is.

This is also the first time you guys are getting any idea of what is actually going on in this story so have fun.

It takes like 5 chapters (not including the prologue) for things to actually start going somewhere. I dont know if thats normal pacing or not but oh well.

The difference between Sokka and Katara in this half (ish) of the story is so funny because theyre both experiencing the opposite sides of the teenage experience. Kataras out here rebelling (against who??? not even she knows), and Sokkas going through the beginning stages of gifted child burnout but like on crack.

Azulas a lot more better off in this fic than in canon because her and Zuko get to have a lot better relationship. Theyre not extremely close, because there is still some tension but not nearly to the extreme as canon. They just have a normal sibling relationship or close to it. She gets to be the well rounded and overall stable one. She deserves it. Everyone else at one point or another is going to be pretty distraught. Azulas just watching the world burn. and we love her for that.

So far all four of Zuko, Azula, Sokka, and Katara have atleast one pov in each chapter. And the difference between these is so funny because you have Sokka, who is worried about everything and anything and is like the mom of the group trying to keep his children in line, Katara's out there doing the dumbest shit she can think of on impulse, Zuko's trying to fight 10 people at once at any given chapter and Azula's just... watching.

Direct quotes from some of the outlines of azulas povs include, "Azulas really confused at everyone", "Azula's scheming", "Azula's interrogating and also scheming", "Azula's being a girlboss" Pretty much Azulas just taking everything in and laughing at everyone elses problems.

I love Azula in this fic.

Zuko's getting himself into trouble. This boy really just needs to shut the fuck up and life will overall just be a whole lot easier for him.

Most of the oc's from this fic are the more minor ones from ihiap. So far I think they've only been mentioned once or twice. But there are also some new ones and one of the new ones should be pretty familiar because its like, if two of my other ihiap ocs had a baby and you change the font a tad bit, you get this dude.

This dude is going to be the one to save Zuko from getting himself murdered because he wont stop running his mouth. This guy is the type that usually really soft and kind and quiet but at one point he just has to go "it's not that zuko's a horrible person, he's just really fucking stupid" and everyone else in the situation just goes "Oh yeah that makes sense thanks for clearing that up"

Katara and Sokkas relationship kind of replaces Zuko and Azulas for the strained sibling relationship in this fic. This is because Sokka a few times has to do something that majorly goes against Kataras strong morals but he has to do it to save her but he doesnt tell her that and it creates a lot of tension.

Zuko getting himself captured by making dumb decisions while Kataras trying to be his braincell 🤝 Katara completely abandoning any and all responsibility, actively putting a target on her back, after Sokka had to mansplain manipulate manwhore his way into some semblance of control to keep her from being tortured and starved 🤝 Sokka making the most impulsive and not well thought out decisions possible while Azula is constantly covering him and fixing the mistakes hes making in order to keep Katara and Zuko from getting killed.

I think that Sokka and Azulas relationship is a lot more simular to canon Katara and Sokkas relationship than cots Sokka and Katara. Because like,, while canon Sokka and Kataras bond is the whole "we're siblings, we grew up with eachother, we've always been by eachothers side' thing going on, that got a little bit interupted in cots. Mean while Azula and Sokka both have this 'I have this overwhelming weight resting on my shoulders and it's caused me to have to do horrible things to protect either myself or my loved ones and my sibling doesn't underdstand the entirety of that' solidarity in one another that allows them to have a really close relationship.

This story has so much going on right now because all four of the characters that im trying to keep track of all have very different goals and drives and plots. And it's going to be a while before they start to overlap.

I really love writing Azula and Ursas relationship because canon gives you so little that you can interpret it in so many different ways. Like if you put a little bit of work in you can turn it into every single mother-daughter issues dynamic in the book.

And theyre really confused for half a second, look at eachother, then Janus watches as Remus freezes, before a pair of deathly cold hands gently cup over Janus's eyes. And a new voice joins the mix:

"Thank you kindly for freeing me. It's been over a century since Ive been free of that wretched casket. Judging by your appearances, I've missed.. A lot, it seems."

So. Of course- Remus decides to adopt Virgil immediately into their weird group to teach Virgil the ins and outs of modern day life, and Janus, fearing that Remus will be a bad influence to this super strong super fast Vampire if left completely on his own to wreck havoc on their town, steps in to help balance out Remus(not that his influence really makes anything better, as hes best friends w/ someone who eats nasty food combos and does things like graverobbing on impulse, he himself a skilled lockpick with a silver tongue and a penchant for lying on impulse.)

Turns out Virgil takes a v strong liking to Janus, and is super fucking awkward about it for the longest time bc of the social/time language barrier, even if hes a quick learner.

They eventually get together, and thus we get to the things that I doodled, which cant mostly be described as "Virgil goes om nom nom Mine and Janus is content to go along w/ it"

Pretty sure I might also make Logan and Patton vampires as well, and them being friends from the past that weren't aware of Virgils imprisonment, just that he disappeared? But we'll see.

matt murdock is really mean. matt murdock told foggy nelson that he can't say god dang it because that's using the lords name in vain and if he does it again matt's not gonna play with him. matt murdock touches foggy's hair too much and never lets foggy touch his back. matt murdock says his dad can beat up foggys dad any day. matt murdock is really mean, but foggy likes him. he's really cool. foggy saw him tell ms lilith to give foggy his snack even though he misbehaved during reading because matt didnt even like the cookies anyways. that was cool of him. foggy really loved ms lilith’s cookies.

matt goes blind in the fourth grade, and he's not in foggy's class anymore. he has to go to the special kid's classroom, so he can read braille books and do lessons that he doesnt need his eyes for, and foggy misses him, but matt says it's ok and they can still hang out at lunch! and that's not perfect but foggy sees matt everyday still and they talk a lot and at the end of the year matt says that he'll teach foggy how to read braille next year and they make plans to see if foggy can join matt's class even though he's not blind and everythings going to work out fine and they can still be best friends! and foggy can't wait! but when he comes back to school next fall and looks for matt, he's not there.

when he gets home, he asks his mum to call matt's dad, and they talk on the phone for too long about stupid things while foggy sits impatiently at the kitchen table waiting for matt to be put on the phone. matt's not home, though, so he asks where he can call matt, and jack tells him a number to call. foggy calls it and waits to be put through, when he finally is, foggy asks him where he's been, and why wasn't he at school, and matt tells him he's going to a different school now, and they can't see eachother every day anymore because it's a catholic school and it's upstate and matt's gonna live there every day except sundays when he comes home and maybe then they can see eachother still then? and he's really gonna miss foggy, and, foggy's REALLY gonna miss matt, but what can he do? fifth grade is lonely, but foggy makes new friends, and he talks to matt sometimes, he still misses him, but slowly, they fall out of contact. by the time foggy's in eighth grade, he barely remembers matt murdock at all.

when foggy gets to college, he hasn't though about matt murdock for years, which is why when the blind man busts through his door, foggy hardly realizes it's him. 'oh, a blind guy. i had a blind friend once,' he thinks, and introduces himself, which is why he is so shocked when the guy takes a step back. 'is it really you?' he asks, and suddenly the features of matt's face, although changed over the years, become oh too familiar, and foggy can't help but grin, because his best friend is back, and if this isn't fate, then what is?

they catch up on all the things that they missed in each-others lives: matt's dad's death, foggy's dads arthritis, how foggy runs the shop in his spare time, how matt met an old blind dude who tried to teach him karate or some shit and thought matt had some 'special senses' or whatever, and they're just so happy to see eachother again. foggy lets matt touch his hair, and matt lets foggy run his hands through matts this time, and foggy is SO ecstatic than he cant help but give matt the fattest hug, though he decides he's not gonna kiss him yet because let's not ruin this QUITE so fast,and then they do everything together: finally, no more stupid separate classes, and yeah, life is pretty great. it takes two years for matt to work up the courage to tell foggy he thinks he might be gay, and it takes about two seconds for foggy to react to that by giving matt a kiss on the lips and ask him if that makes things any clearer, because foggy has no impulse control over his actions ever, apparently. matt just shrugs and asks him to do it again but for longer and then maybe he'll be able to tell, and foggy is happy to oblige. when he pulls away matt grins at him and tells him yeah, he thinks he's definitley gay if that means he gets to do that more often, and foggy laughs and nervously asks him if he means with men, or with foggy specifically? and matt raises an eyebrow and says 'uhh....with....you?' and foggy's heart melts into a stupid big puddle and he kisses matt again.

so the first design i did back in october this month was very similar to my normal sona blu ^^

most of my self inserts followed this trend but then i decided that i actually wanted to change it up a bit. i refer to this more of the changes of s1 to s2 now :)

What is it about ruby and sapphire that you love so much?

besides being a CANON wlw representation in a childrens t.v. show (especially one that is so blatant, they literally say that they love eachother) I also just love the very nice and communicative relationship aspect? 

Like I LOVE the whole ‘opposites attract’ thing with personalities. What I love about them is that these to different personalities look at the other and just find things that complement them and to love the other as an individual. Of course at some points the personalities are gonna clash but they get through that with some STRONG communication and patience. Rebecca has been very insistent that the reason that Garnet is so stable is that Ruby and Sapphire communicate with each other well (i.e. ‘I am their fury, I am their patience, I am a conversation’)

That’s not to say that they are PERFECT at it (as seen in Keystone motel), no couple is. And I LOVE that portrayal of a realistic relationship. A lot of media usually depicts the ‘star-crossed lovers’ troupe as these two people who are the PERFECT couple with no disagreements and clashing of personalities at times which is quite frankly bullshit.

Every couple has disagreements (note i said disagreements, not fights. If you have FIGHTS with each other like straight up yelling, name calling, physical, you need to get out of that relationship asap.) And every couple sometimes has a clash of personalities and thoughts. HOWEVER, it is also very very much a part of the relationship to TALK with your partner and communicate and resolve/compromise with them. Garnet has said it best, ‘Love takes time and Love takes work.’

it also helps for me that the story is set in space and they’re aliens because that is 64738291% my shit right there but also???? I LOVE the concept of fusion. giving the physical form of the relationship you have with the other person (whether its platonic or romantic) is just such a cool idea and having a character like Garnet who is the walking embodiment of love and confidence is just SO. GOOD.
