Shinji: EXCUSE ME!? Our team is both professional and mature. For starters, we have– Mashiro: Heeeey is lunch ready yet? Shinji: Yeah Kensei has prepared lunch downstairs. And oh, I also bought Ribena drinks for everybo– Hiyori and Love, from downstairs: FUCK YEAH, DINO NUGGETS! Ichigo: Kensei, yelling from downstairs: OI YOU GUYS! Be careful!! Those are still hot! Shinji, shouting to them: REMEMBER TO DRINK THE RIBENA!

You ohhhandedly mentioned tessai livong through ww2 and… wow thats true there were a lot of characters that got a first row seat to both conflicts, even if only the second was really impactful on japans history. Does urahara, yoruichi, tessai, the vizored or any of the shinigami have any specific feelings on ww2/the nuclear bombs? I know its a wild fucking question but it literally just occurred to me and i cant stop thinking about it.
Yeah WW2 is an entire 5-chapter arc in the fic because apparently Kubo is from Hiroshima, and Karakura town is based on his memories growing up there. Stuff that happens during that arc:
The Soul Society's sole warning that something catastrophic might be coming is the arrival of an irradiated and enraged Coyote spirit from the Trinidad test site. It's up to Newly-appointed captain Komamura to calm it down and explain what happened, and Mayuri is able to work out that atomic weapons are real from it's descriptions. He gives Soul Society about a month before the humans drop one on a city.
Unfortunately, he's correct.
***
Urahara and the Visoreds use the fact that they're already dead to mitigate some of the damage from the bombing by walking into the epicenter and shoving carbon rods into the most radioactive points, stemming much of the radiation damage, but there's nothing they can do for the initial wave of destruction.
It involves going through a new gigai every trip and learning what if feels like to have the flesh actually melt off your bones, but Hirako Shinji and the other Visored are no cowards, least of all about Hard and Dirty Work.
Tessai makes Ururu and Jinta out of spare parts from Urahara's Gigai experiments to house a heavily damage Kitsune and Tanuki spirit pair from a shrine that was destroyed. Ururu is the Tankuki, and the older one- Jinta seems a bit more 'organic' because Tessai learned a lot making his sister, and because as a Kitsune, he's a better actor.
***
Soul Society is in major trouble though.
with the sudden influx of souls- first from the bombing, but then from the radiation sickness and the famine that followed, the living and spirit worlds are in danger of becoming unbalanced.
It's a Major Crisis!
Fortunately for them, people with sociopathy tend to operate really well during Crises, and I realized the reason Mayuri hasn't been fired or killed by the time Ichigo shows up is that when shit hits the fan, Mayuri's lack of emotional response to the suffering of others means he can buckle down and fucking DELIVER.
Expansions to the pocket dimension that the queue of incoming souls is housed in? He didn't sleep for two weeks to get it done on time, but there was more than enough room when the bomb dropped and for the few months after as casualties continued.
Emergency rations for all these incoming factory workers that know nothing about farming? Behold, Nutritionally complete meals that you can eat right out of the box! And smaller, friendlier ones for the kiddies!
Hell, the 12th division even makes instructional propaganda videos about how safe and tasty these new foods are, featuring The Grand Clown Himself, and distribution centers featuring his likeness, so Mayuri enjoys a peculiar popularity in the Rukongai, not unlike an off-brand and sometimes educational Krusty The Clown.
Just ah. Stop asking questions about the ingredients list.

"I'm not fucking killing civillians." Says Kenpachi when Yamamoto begins to bring up the historical method that the Shinigami have used to balance out sudden influxes of souls from the living world.
"Oh?" Yamamoto glares at him. "You have a better idea?"
"What's them big fuckers that come outta tears sometimes? Hundred feet tall, black, bird faces?" He asks, waving as he tries to remember the names.
"...Menos Grande?" asks Ukitake, who has gotten remarkably good at interpreting for the man next to him at meetings.
"Yeah!" Zaraki grins, patting his six-foot-tall colleague on the head like a small child. "You said they're like... combination creatures of a thousand souls each right?"
"Zaraki is correct." Pipes up Tousen, who is also extremely eager to not murder civilians and even more eager to absolutely fuck up the army of Menos Aizen has been gathering in Hueco Mundo. "-It wouldn't be *easy* but dispatching approximately Five hundred Menos in the next week seems much more doable and much, much more morally sound than killing five hundred thousand civillians. Sir."
Kaname can feel the curse nails on his back starting to bleed from Aizen's glare but he presses on.
"-There appears to be a significant population of them gathered on the far eastern edge of Hueco Mundo. It would probably take most of the 11th Division's forces but-"
"IKKAKU!" Zaraki is already bellowing out the door to his lieutenant. "TELL EVERYONE TO PACK AN EXTRA PAIR OF PANTIES, WE'RE GOING ON A HOLLOW HUNT!"
There is a distant but enthusiastic whoop form Ikkaku in reply.
"An excursion into Hueco Mundo is exceptionally dangerous." Unohana notes, voice placid as he returns to the table.
"-and? I don't do this job because it's safe 'n' easy." Zaraki shrugs.
Her neutral expression softens just a bit into a small, affectionate and perhaps ever-so-slightly lascivious smile. "May I suggest that a detachment of the 4th Division accompany the 11th? It won't make the work easier, but it will mitigate some of the risk."
Yamamoto groans, aware that the decision has been made for him.
"Fine." He grunts. "Take a detachment of the Ninth too, you can use that newfangled radiodar whatsit to keep me updated."
"Pardon?" Mumbles Kaname, slightly woozy from blood loss.
His circulatory situation is not helped when an illusion-blind-to-the-blood Zaraki grabs him about the middle and starts carrying him off under his arm in exactly the direction the 9th and 11th are not like a particularly bewildered purse Chihuahua.

Aizen... almost strays from his path.
The Hogyoku is slow and tiresome, his first plan to barrage Karakura with Menos to create the Oken is being trashed and actually being forced to work his job of Rukongai Management is- Well, it's reminding him just why he started this quest to Dethrone God.
What loving creator would make an afterlife of squalor, where the 'lucky' are cursed to outlive everyone they know and love? Not one worth worshiping, surely.
But actually being out here, setting up emergency food distribution, implementing the latest in civil engineering from the newly arrived and seeing it immediately improve the quality of life, uniting families and... actually helping people? it's making him question his path. Perhaps- Perhaps God is not some uncaring regent on a distant throne. Perhaps God is something that lives in all souls, a kindness and goodwill towards one's fellow man, and to spread the will of a loving creator, one must Act to Enact God's Will...
Gin Panics.
He has not spent the last 300-odd years dangling the Hogyoku in front of Aizen, stuffing him full of spiritual energy to feed to the machine that generates reality like he was fattening up a goose for Pate, only to have him give up his quest for divinity NOW.
He's gonna have to do something drastic.
He's gonna have to convince Aizen he was right all along, and that he needs to keep using the Hogyoku.
He's going to need to use Aizen's own Illusions against him, and convince Aizen that the souls of the citizens of the rukongai aren't worth playing a Benevolent God for. That the whole thing needs to come out and be replaced.
Sure, it's a dick move
but those are his specialty.
***
It's the night before the 11th and the two detachments are supposed to leave for Hueco Mundo, and Yamamoto's been doing some thinking.
He is also in Zaraki's quarters at midnight sharp. "Captain-General." Nods Unohana, pausing mid-activity to acknowledge him. "Bruh." Zaraki grunts to indicate they were busy. "I need to borrow Zaraki for an hour or so, and then you may continue." he says, and then steps back outside so the man can get untied and dressed.
"This better be good old man, I know you haven't been married for a few centuries but REALLY-" Zaraki grumbles, emerging and putting his sandals on. "Don’t worry, it’ll take twenty minutes tops, all you have to do is stand behind me and don’t hide your rage." Yamamoto explains. "-We'’re going to go see the central 46." Zaraki pauses mid-sandal, slowly looking up at him with an intrigued arch to his brow. "Yes, it’s forbidden." Yamamoto says, not tearing his gaze away from the moon above them. "-But I've received reports that the Central 46 has acquired blueprints of the... Device. Used in the living world earlier this month and I'm nipping this at the damn bud." Zaraki grins, and finishes putting his sandals on.
The Central 46 are alerted to the Presence of Yamamoto and Zaraki by the main gate to their district being kicked through the wall of the council chambers.
"Hello, Sages and Wise Councilors of the Soul Society!" The Old Man greets them as he steps through the hole he just made, and The Barbarian squeezing through after, sword casually over his shoulder. "Well isn't this a surprise, everyone here in a full meeting at One in the Morning on a Teusday!"
"Wh-What is the meaning of this?" one of the head councilmen sputters, mustache bristling. "Shinigami are forbidden form this place, I'll have you both execu-!"
"Shut up." Yamamoto glares, and sparks fly from the corner of his eye. The hem of his Haori is starting to smolder and singe as well as he approaches the table the councilors are crowded around the blueprints from the living world.
"Now, we are all good and honorable people here." Yamamoto says, casually waving a hand in what would normally be a placating gesture but now only made his sleeve flicker as Ryujin Jakka grew hungrier. "-But I've been around long enough to know how Power corrupts."
"And we've all been exposed to a new, horrific level of Power."
"Oh, of course, you would never! It's unthinkable to sink to such a level!"
"...but it's been a few weeks. The initial shock has faded, and you're starting to understand the full toll of the destruction." he explains, strolling up, the diamond insignia on his back spreading across his shoulders as the Haori singes. Behind him, Zaraki is following with an unpleasantly carnivorous stroll, yellow eye lazily moving from face to face, taking stock of all those present. "...and you are perhaps developing a new standard of devastation and suffering to wish upon your enemies."
There is some muttering, some protesting, and worse, some agreeing. They are silenced by a sudden electric crackle of Energy from Zaraki.
"I’m just here to tell you all-" Yamamoto continues, unperturbed. Or perhaps so perturbed he's warped all the way around to a deep, ruthless peace.
"If I hear any ONE of you has taken steps to develop a weapon like this-" he points a finger at the blueprints, which singe and then burn, a low, slow flame that reduces them completely to ash.
"-I’m going to kill all of you."
"Actually," he explains, as the blueprints finish burning and the table catches as well, fire blooming and crackling, lighting him from beneath. "I’m going to kill all of you and your families. By which I mean, I’m figuring out who all your ancestors were going back Five generations, Kill them, and kill all their descendants."
The table burns, and the floor is threatening to catch, but nobody can move to ring the fire alarm or grab a bucket of water.
"-Because that’s the kind of indiscriminate destruction these things cause." he explains. "It's a damn shame to say this, but this is the first time we've been able to settle whole families in the same town- because five, six, even seven generations of families, from great-great grandmother to the newest infants were burnt together in an instant."
"So if you want to wield that kind of destruction, you best be prepared to deal with those kinds of consequences." he growls, and suddenly sweeps his hand over the fire, which snuffs out immediately.
Slowly he turns to go, and regards Zaraki behind him.
"Oh, and just in case any of you had thoughts of hastening my retirement in regards to this matter-" he speaks up, and points to Zaraki "-Near as I can tell, this asshole is immortal and indestructible, so if I happen to be dead, he'll do it for me, won't you?"
"Yes, sir." Zaraki Nods, eye fixed on the head councilor, committing his face to memory, blade and crackling eagerly.
"-and he's nowhere near as speedy and clean a killer as I am, so I suggest you don't test either of us." Yamamoto grins, and Ryujin Jakka can't help but flicker off his brow for emphasis.
"Goodnight, and go fuck yourselves." Yamamoto bows, and exits through the same hole he entered.
The walk back to the 11th is largely silent, but Yamamot can feel the pleased-yet-curious thrum of reiatsu from Zaraki.
"Question, boss-" he suddenly speaks as they approach the 11th.
"You're not supposed to question orders, Zaraki." He sighs. He'll make a proper shinigami out of him. Eventually.
"...Request for clarification, Boss-" Zaraki tries again, and Yamamoto nods. "-Why me?"
Yamamoto arches an overgrown brow at him.
"Not complainin'-" Zaraki explains, pointedly looking up at the moon and scratching his neck in deferment. "-But Byakuya's got more sway with them and Gin's definitely better at terrifying first impressions."
"Hm." Yamamoto nods. "It's in the follow-up, not the impression, you see."
"I do not." Zaraki says. For all his faults and frustrations, Zaraki sure keeps Yamamoto on his toes about not being lazy and actually explaining himself.
"-I am very serious about you killing them and their descendants if they ever think about making one of those devices." he sighs and Zaraki nods, waving a hand for him to continue. "-So I picked the Shinigami most invested in a peaceful future to make sure my orders would be carried out."
Zaraki still looks confused.
"You're my only captain with children, Zaraki." Yamamoto explains. "I know you only give half a rat's ass about the court guard, but I've seen what you'll do for Yachiru."
Zaraki nods understanding now, and a few more paces of silence pass between them.
"...Thank you, Sir." Zaraki mutters, bowing his head and using the honorific with genuine intent for the first time since Yamamoto had known him. "-For understanding."
"Thank you, Captain Zaraki." Yamamoto nodded slightly, stopping before the gate to the 11th. "-For understanding as well."
"-Now get back to Captain Unohana before she schedules some sort of blood test of a thousand needles for me!" Yamamoto grunted, prodding at Zaraki with his cane, and the man didn't need to be told twice.

So, I had a dream that I fully credit to reading your blog Ray. AN there is the mention of a letter mistaken as a suicide note.
Fem!Ichigo is Chuuya’s mother and Urahara is his father. The story goes like this:
Ichigo has been abandoned by everyone during those long, awful 17 months. During a festival she gets drunk and comes across a drunk Urahara and they end up sleeping together at the Shoten. Ichigo wakes up first, cleans up, and leaves. When Urahara wakes up with a truly horrible hangover he thinks he had another of those dreams, you know, since he’s a dirty old man, and precedes to go back to his lab.
Ichigo after a truly horrible fight with her sperm donor, decides that she’s going to graduate early and move out. This later causes a big fight between the sisters, horrible things are said, and Ichigo leaves in the middle of the night to a hotel.
After this fight she finds out that she’s pregnant. She worries about what the shinigami might do to her baby, she’s not stupid she knows she might have ended up in a cell next to Aizen if she hadn’t lost her powers, and decides she has to leave. It breaks her heart to leave her sisters but they have Goat Face and he would never let anything happen to them, they’re the children he wanted not the weapon he had to have, and her baby only has her. She’s leaves them and letter sneaks into the house to get some of Masaki’s things and leaves.
The letter when found cause mass panic because it could come across as a suicide note so everyone gathers to search for Ichigo but she’s long gone. SS is alerted and everyone loses their minds. It also comes out the Isshin is Ichigo’s father and that just adds to the chaos. Evidently Isshin is Yamamoto’s grandson through Kyoraku. (Yamamoto is Kyoraku’s father but he has his mothers name, not sure why my subconscious didn’t enlighten me on that. Kyoraku and Ukitake are together, have been for centuries, but every once in a while like to add a third to spice things up. The added Isshin’s Shiba mother, who was clan head and Kaien’s grandmother, and nine months later here came Isshin.) Anyway, C46 does something(again my subconscious didn’t enlighten me) and Yamamoto decided that they have outlived their usefulness and they are all killed and C46 disbanded.
Meanwhile Ichigo makes her way to Yokohama, goes through her mother’s things and finds out she was a Quincy. This just reinforces the idea of her leaving and no contact being the right choice. Her pregnancy kicks starts her powers to return and eventually darling baby Chuuya is born.
Ichigo and her spirts are all untied when it comes to protecting the baby and she trains like a maniac and becomes C46’s worst nightmare(if y’know they were still alive).
Things start to get blurry here. I know the Quincy’s come and she kills Yhwach and all his horrible plans come out and many Sternritters turn on his and name her the Quincy Queen(Ishida was not involved yet). She releases Harribel and gets her back to Los Noches and meets up with the other living arrancar. The Quincies(sp?) eventually end up helping rebuild Los Noches as war reparations. Ichigo, the quincies, and the arrancar all eventually end up becoming friends. SS is none the wiser.
SS does eventually get a clue about Yhawch and decide cutting off the 3 world from each other is the best thing to do. So the Kurosakis, Karakura Gang, Shoten Crew, and remaining Visored all end up living in SS so they can eventually face the Quincy threat. As fate would have it the Quincies and Arrancar end up stuck in Hueco Mundo while Ichigo and Chuuya are in the Yokohama. Fast forward a few years and Ichigo is in an accident protecting Chuuya and then Chuuya ends up on the streets. Things proceed as canon from there. Chuuya vaguely remembers Ichigo but not enough to seek her out. Proceeds as canon from there.
Hueco Mundo and SS eventually make contact and everything comes out. Urahara goes nuclear(he’s kind of Yandere here) and immediately goes to find Ichigo and his son. Because they’re his and he refuses to be separated for a moment more that necessary. Yamamoto approves of a marriage between them because he wants all of his family back in SS and everyone else agrees they want her back in SS because they thought she was dead for over a decade. So Ichigo would be forced back regardless of her wishes. They eventually find her while she’s still in her coma but no Chuuya. This sets Urahara off because, his son, his baby, who he never even got the chance to meet is missing. My dream ended with Urahara unleashing himself on Yokohama to find his missing son.
I woke up with the thought that evidently mother and son have the same taste in men and that I wanted to see what overprotective assassin daddy Urahara would do to the people that abandoned or hurt his son. It would be glorious, horribly bloody but glorious. Chuuya deserves good things in life and as much as I love Dazai I’ve always been of the opinion he could do with being out maneuvered sometimes. In this case by Urahara.
I need you to write this out. I need it desperately. This is beyond fantastic I swear to all the gods

Renruki - "Given"
Summary: Renji was beginning to worry. Lately, he’d noticed something strange about Rukia. Specifically, her reiatsu. Though he couldn't quite put his finger on it, it felt somehow... off.
AO3
Renji was beginning to worry.
Lately, he’d noticed something strange about Rukia. Specifically, her reiatsu. Though he couldn't quite put his finger on it, it felt somehow... off.
That cool flow of spiritual pressure was one he'd become finely attuned to over the years, even after their decades of separation.
In their childhood, he’d witnessed her reiatsu's initial sparks and the potential they held. He'd felt them grow over their time at the Academy, pulsing and flickering with incredible power as she tapped into and honed that potential.
He knew, all too well, the terrifying dread that came with feeling it deplete to the point that he almost couldn’t sense it. He’d felt himself be completely enveloped by it, shivered as it permeated his very core and melded with his own. As their physical shells became entangled, allowing their very beings to join on another plane they hadn’t even known possible.
As far as Renji knew, he was familiar with every possible state and variation of Rukia’s reiatsu, perhaps even more so than his own.
Yet, nothing he’d ever sensed before could compare to the energy that radiated from her now.
At first, it had been something he’d had to strain to even make out. Faint and sporadic, like a barely beating heart. Over time though, Renji noticed that this reiatsu didn’t actually appear too different from how Rukia's did normally. A prospect that unnerved him.
It was difficult to place. The traces that stood out didn't appear alien or dangerous. If anything, it was as though they'd melded with the larger pool of her own reiatsu, becoming a part of her.
Renji wondered if it was simply the result of her training, growing and uncovering new strength within herself. But, he wasn't sure.
He’d been there for her greatest shift in strength when she’d finally mastered her Bankai training in the Zero Division, and nothing at that time had seemed out of the ordinary.
Even now as she continued to refine her abilities, striving to fill the role of her former captain, she never experienced a growth in power as drastic as the one she did during the Quincy War.
Renji hadn't noticed any unusual shifts in her reiatsu back then, so he wasn't sure why that would be any different now.
It wasn’t until he started noticing shifts in Rukia's physical well-being, that he truly began to grow concerned.
She was growing tired much earlier in the day, the fatigue making her movements sluggish and dulling her reflexes. It was lucky that her position saw her taking on fewer missions, as Renji worried that she might end up getting hurt.
She would return from work with deep knots in her shoulders and back from the hours spent sitting at a desk. While Renji was pleased that he could help to bring his wife comfort, his hands kneading the tension from her muscles, he knew the relief would only be temporary.
Her appetite had gone. Whenever they ate together, Rukia would spend much of her time glancing off into space, missing parts of the conversation and pushing most of the food around with her chopsticks.
Renji worried that it could also be due to stress. That having to lead her division alone, while also training a seated officer to eventually step in as her Lieutenant, was taking its toll. Perhaps the solution was to arrange for them to take some time off and relieve the tension that was overtaking her.
He couldn't remember the last time they’d had a chance to take a break. Ever since Aizen's betrayal of the Soul Society, they'd rarely had the chance to stop and process everything that had happened.
Perhaps they could visit some hot springs or meet with Ichigo in the human world.
Maybe while they were there, they could stop by Urahara-san's. The shopkeep might have an answer as to what was wrong with her.
Sadly, though, he knew Rukia would refuse. It was the wrong time. If she were to leave, there would be no one to run the thirteenth. The last thing their division needed was for its Acting Captain to step away, even temporarily.
So, as a compromise, Renji settled for trying, discreetly, to arrange an appointment with Captain Kotetsu, not wanting word of Rukia’s condition to reach her brother.
Knowing the lengths his captain would go to for his sister's sake, Renji could imagine the man overreacting to the news and sending over a throng of Kuchiki staff to care for her. Rukia wouldn’t be comfortable with so many people tending to her. It would be overwhelming and likely only make matters worse.
But, at the very least, if he could get the Fourth to see her, they might be able to determine what was wrong.
As the source grew stronger, and easier for him to focus on, he noticed that the usual, icy white was actually tinged slightly, by warm, unmistakable flecks of red; a spiritual pressure that Renji had only ever sensed in one place before.
Traces of his own spiritual pressure.
That was something Renji couldn't understand.
He knew it wasn’t unheard of for a reiatsu’s colour to change, but that was usually something that only happened when they were wielding different abilities in battle. He had never heard of reiatsu taking on the qualities of someone elses. These streaks of red were ever-present, even when Rukia was perfectly still, completely passive.
The closest thing Renji had ever felt something to it, was a sensation that had only flickered through him briefly, on a few occasions. A feeling as though their reiatsu was melding, becoming one.
It was rare. Something usually spurred on when they were entangled in throngs of passion. Whenever they sparred, their many past attempts to express the feelings they carried in their hearts. But, perhaps most notably, was their first time together in the Zero Division, in the midst of the Quincy war. Having both almost died, faced with the harsh reality that the chance may never come again for them.
In this case though, the feeling remained, as if permanently etched upon Rukia’s soul. As though their feelings had given life to it. As though he had transferred a part of himself into her.
The feeling it woke in him, instinctively, was one of comfort, home. A sentiment he usually related to Rukia.
Somehow, the presence of his own spiritual presence calmed him, somewhat, waking an instinct to guard and nourish this potential that rested within her.
He decided to press the issue over dinner, catching her turning lumps of rice over and over with her chopsticks.
“Rukia, is everything alright?”
To his surprise, the innocuous question caused Rukia to lose grip on one of her chopsticks, the wooden utensil clattering against the floor.
“O- of course. Why wouldn’t it be?”
“You just… haven’t seemed yourself lately.”
"O-oh, really? Is that so?"
"I know I'm probably worrying over nothing, but... You've been working so hard."
“Well, I- I actually had a check-up this week."
Rukia’s eyes were downcast as she answered, an odd strain entering her voice. Renji felt his heart jolt, anticipating the worst.
"You did?” His voice rose, urgent. “Is everything alright?"
"Yes, we're-," she flinched. " I'm fine, Renji."
"Oh, that's good," Renji exhaled.
He knew it seemed ridiculous, worrying about her. Rukia was one of the strongest people he knew, more than capable of handling herself. But illness was something that went beyond physical and spiritual power. It couldn’t be so easily combatted.
He couldn't help his concern.
"I'm sorry, Rukia,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I guess I overreacted. It's just... recently, I've noticed something off about your reiatsu. It's felt... almost different. On top of the fact that you've seemed tired a lot and have been having trouble eating, I was worried something might be wrong."
Rukia set her bowl down, sliding along the tatami mat to nestle beside him. He felt himself enveloped by the same spiritual pressure that had been consuming his thoughts. Rukia’s hand rubbed against his arm soothingly.
"Renji, it's okay.”
Renji frowned, pulling away from her slightly to glance into her eyes.
“What do you mean?”
Rukia broke their gaze, her vision training onto the floor as she exhaled, readying something.
"I suppose it's my fault for keeping this from you for this long… You're right, Renji. You did notice something different. But I promise you, it's nothing to worry about."
The soft brush of Rukia's words managed to ease Renji's fears, somewhat. He was reassured to know that his instincts had been right. That it hadn't just been in his head.
At the same time, Rukia seemed to know what was happening and, judging by her demeanour, there was no reason to worry.
Still, he couldn't help but be curious. What was going on?
As if reading his thoughts, Rukia clasped one of Renji's hands, moving to rest it against her stomach. His hand lingered there, feeling the rise and fall of her chest with each breath she took. The pace was calming, a strong, steady pattern for him to focus on, while speaking to Rukia’s health.
Strangely, he could also sense that unusual pressure flaring especially vibrant underneath his touch.
His gaze lifted, unsure of what Rukia was trying to tell him. His breath hitched as he saw her, tears brimming in the corner of her eyes and a fond, gentle smile directed solely toward him.
"Renji, I'm pregnant."
Renji blinked, gaze carrying blankly ahead as Rukia’s words flowed through his mind.
Suddenly, everything seemed to fall into place. The reiatsu forming inside Rukia that carried traces so eerily similar both to his and her own, the fatigue that had been weighing upon her over the past several weeks.
The pressure stirring within Rukia, melding with her, was in fact their child.
A cool hand covered the one resting against her chest, dragging Renji abruptly from his reverie. As Rukia’s gaze met him, expectant, he realised how long he had been lost in thought. The breath caught in his throat underneath her soft, nervous smile; those shimmering violet irises, shining somehow more beautiful than ever. He could only watch in silent awe, eyes brimming with uncertainty and disbelief; feelings that would not persist much longer.
Quelling his unease, Rukia nodded through a peal of joyous of laughter.
Suddenly, Renji’s own vision blurred, a sting forming in the corner of his eye. With a burst of desperation, he dragged her abruptly into his arms, taking her in with a shaky breath. The pressure flared as if in response to his presence. In that moment, Renji almost felt as though he could reach it. It wouldn’t be long, though, before it did take the form of something solid.
A perfect beautiful child, bearing the best of both their features.
A glimpse of the future they had always longed for.

answer me, my prince-esque hitsukarin would be so cute tho.
set during the timeskip, where toushirou and karin haven't met and become friends.
but essentially, urahara gives both toushirou and karin a box, telling them to write in them and a miracle might happen. this box allows them to write letters to each other, and it goes undetected by soul society security. the catch: it has to be handwritten!
and so, they unknowingly become penpals, and get to know each other intimately that way. revealing thoughts to each other that they wouldn't have said otherwise, at least at first.
maybe it's more gen/friendshippy, so it's an outlet for their stress at the start. this is how it begins, toushirou wishing he could confide in someone while he tries to repair his friendship with momo, and how to handle his guilt in stabbing her. karin deciding to close herself off, now that she's taken on ichigo's duties, but still wishing she could have a rukia like ichigo, so she feels less alone, bc she doesn't have a friend group like her big brother does, who can see supernatural things, and they don't want her in their fights against hollows. but she finds herself wishing she could talk to someone about these ghosts/hollows she talks to.
and in these letters, unfolds the snark and teasing, the gentle advice, and miscommunication from not understanding tone. the worry in being like. why aren't they responding tonight? did something happen? the looking forward to receiving the responses, the wishing that they could see the expression on each other's faces. to feeling understood, and laughing quietly at in-jokes. the almost writing i wish i could see you in person, and toushirou planning booked holiday leave eventually so he can visit her. the way they start off guarded, before realizing how it's freeing to open up to a stranger-turned-friend. to realize, belately, that they've fallen for each other when they haven't even seen each other.
there's a moment, they think, when they could exchange numbers, and hear each other's voices, and then, bc they're young and foolish, they resist that instinct, bc they've build up such a good letter writing rapport, that prefer they stick to the old fashioned format instead.
(and maybe matsumoto and yuzu sneak in and write some mischievous letters as well, hoping for some matchmaking to happen, bc whoever is on the other side of the box, well -- they're definitely making the person on this side happier. and they're curious!)
there's an awkward pause, when they finally meet, months after their first letter to each other, and things are... better for them. less of a issue. hinamori has recovered, and their friendship has healed; karin's come to terms with talking to ghosts, feels less burdened by taking up the mantle ichigo left for her. and they've told each other what they look like, said they'd wear specific items so it's impossible not to recognize each other. but then karin, says, jeez, there's no way you're a captain when you look like an elementary student! and toushirou snarks right back at her, you're a lot shorter than i expected too! and then suddenly, they're smiling and laughing, bc it's comfortable and familiar, everything sliding into place, and they just wonder why they didn't do this sooner?
so what was the miracle?, karin and toushirou ask urahara later, eating ice cream bc they only meant to stop by for a minute. miracle? urahara echoes, playing coy. what miracle? you two are a date, why are you asking me useless questions? go enjoy yourselves and be happy!
(we're not on a date! they reply, blushing, but they're not fooling anybody.)

Are you a shipper?
I ??? I suppose- I guess so??? Yes?? ///

Here's a list of ships I like that no one asked for
List of ships I think should be canon due to story setup & chemistry (But I also appreciate that the story would focus on plot more than a relationship. Don’t always agree with how these characters are written at certain points though)
Rukia x Ichigo (BLEACH) Two misfits with a death wish from different worlds who find each other and learn how to live. Rukia gives Ichigo closure and reconnection with his estranged family that kept secrets from him, along with giving him closure with his mother. Ichigo teaches Rukia, a soul reaper who never got a chance to live IRL, a soup reaper part of the cold-blooded Kuchiki family, how to live. While Rukia teaches Ichigo about the new aspects of death and all the ghosts he’s been surrounded by as a child that he’s never understood before now. They’re two sides of the same coin. The hero and the heroine of the series.
(Also Orihime x Uryuu from BLEACH because they both lost a beloved family member when they were young and have been living alone ever since. They're both fantastic seamstresses, they believe in each other when no one else does, they've protected each other, and they spend a majority of a season together. Uryu drops everything to save her in season 2, and he has the most chemistry and reason to do so outside of anyone else. Orihime often compliments him and makes him blush too.)
Blake x Sun (RWBY) Both faunus with somewhat opposite personalities that play off each other. Blake is a broody book worm while Sun is almost a literal ray of sunshine. He has a few flirty moments with her. He follows her home knowing she tends to run off by herself, challenging her fear of hurting others I think? He spends a good season assisting her in tracking down her old terrorist group and even meets her parents. She kisses him on the cheek after they depart. Good friends with the potential for something more (If they were written a little more consistently.... its been a while since I watched RWBY so I might revise my opinions later)
Ruby x Oscar (RWBY) It's Red Riding Hood’s silver eyes (aka silver slippers) for Dorothy’s salvation. To help her get home. The analogy and parallels behind their stories are fascinating. They’re both the youngest of the group with the heaviest burdens on their shoulders. So far they’ve been pretty cute, wholesome, and over all supportive of each other.
Izuku x Ochaco (My Hero Academia) Not a big fan of this show but it's the first canonical (?) shounen pairing that has actual chemistry to me. Izuku is a good friend to her and gets flustered when she's close to him. They both give each other great Christmas gifts to showcase they know each other well. Where Ochaco is actually useful and supportive and has a crush on Izuku but has goals and friends outside of him, and both of them prefer to focus on a career rather than have time for a romance during the series.
Charlie x Alastor (Hazbin Hotel) I won’t disrespect Charlie x Vaggie, but Vaggie shoots down Charlie’s ideas and personality. She doesn’t partake in the singing, dancing, or the hopeful and innocent attitude. She’s bossy and nonindulgent of Charlie, albeit simply because she wants to protect her and reel in her ideas. Alastor on the other hand is just as eccentric and carefree. They’re both charmers, centers of attention. Performance artists. Alastor has the potential to corrupt Charlie while Charlie has the potential to purify Alastor. We could see a relationship develop onscreen, where as Charlie and Vaggie are pre-established and unlikely to get attention drawn to how they actually ended up as a couple. Even Viv herself initially claimed it “just happened over time as they started out as friends”, even though Vaggie was originally Angel’s girlfriend, believe it or not. Charlie and Vaggie are the main and only ship for Hazbin though. I just don’t care about them as much as I would if Charlie had something develop with Alastor.
Stolas x Blitz (Helluva Boss before season 2) Scumbag disasters. Prince and the Pauper. Cheaters. Liars. Unhappy guys with romantic baggage issues. Start off as work-fuckbuddies but start falling in love and then at that moment, everything falls apart around them. It's messy, its bloody, its angsty, there were staKES, I'm SO SMAD-
The Harry Potter series isn’t something I’m a dedicated fan of, especially after Rowling, but Harry x Hermoine made way more sense to me from the movies. Scorpius x Albus in the Cursed Child was rectified; the subtext hints it's now canon which thank god they fixed because Scorpius x Rose was terrible. Albus had a crush on Delphi which, yeah, who wouldn’t have a crush on Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way? But I prefer those two probably as a brotp. Delphi has lesbian vibes(and she’s over a decade older than Albus, so). Albus Potter befriending his dad's enemies? Like it's great. It breaks the cycle. It's a new beginning. A new family. All the HP kids being gay/LGBTQ+ is just really funny to me. Fuck you, Rowling (There’s an HP crackship I actually like a… lot, but I’m too embarrassed to say what it is aloud. It's a spicy angsty unhealthy ship...)
Otherwise crack ships: White Zangetsu x Black Tensa (BLEACH) Angel God vs. Devil God enemies turned roommates. One is feral and the other is reserved but both are equally dangerous and creepy in their own right. (used to like Ichigo x Zangetsu but now I’ve kinda lost interest because Ichigo’s personality changed. Otherwise interchangeable GrimmjowxZangetsuxIchigo I guess. And Harribel x Neliel. Sweet & silent level 3 Espada girls. Neliel is the gal Harri’s missing for her group. She deserves another queen at her side!)
Roxas x Vanitas (Kingdom Hearts) Also don't mind these two also just being a platonic brotp. But Roxas and Vanitas are both remnants of Sora & Ventus with faces that aren't their own. They both can summon monstrous beings, they've been through pain, and they've always been second to someone else. They were both manipulated and lied to. They both wanted access to Kingdom Hearts for power, for a wish to be whole again in one way or another. They're both half of someone else and this makes them struggle with their identities. Roxas however has a joy for life. He has friends and jobs to keep him busy. Vanitas on the other hand hates life. He has nothing to live for because he's always in so much pain and thinks friends would drag him down. Roxas wants life and freedom. Vanitas wants death and/or fusion. Two kins with opposite desires. Could they save each other or destroy each other? There's so much dramatic potential here. Literary gold.
Namine x Xion (Kingdom Hearts) Wish these girls had more personality and chemistry, but I think they've got a gothic x pastel prep vibe going on. Xion was a puppet controlled by the Organization and Namine was controlled by the same Organization, just a different branch and for a somewhat different reason. Xion can copy & steal powers and Namine can rearrange memories, making them both potentially scary if they were to fight back together. I think they are the only two that would ever understand each other.
(Dib x Zim ..??? or just Brotp because of reasons like Roxas x Vanitas. Basically two opposite beings with similar upbringing or social status, both arrogant hotheads with unmatched intellect. All they want is approval, acceptance, and praise. Which they will never receive from their worlds that reject them. They are the only ones who take each other seriously. When Dib gives up on paranormal hunting, Zim becomes depressed and rots away in his house until Dib returns. Zim even seeks Dib’s help with sabotaging Tak & the Planet Jackers. They could be great friends, if they weren’t on opposite sides. If they joined forces, they’d be unstoppable. Jack Frost x Pitch Black (Rise of the Guardians) Also don't mind them being just brotp. Both lonely and lost in their bleak immortal lives, rejected by everyone else around them. Their powers can be dangerous to children if given the wrong influence, like Pitch's. In the books, they both share a similar past. Both were warriors of light. A light that flickered out and changed them into what they are now due to a tragic loss of some kind. Jack is youthful, silly, but observant while Pitch is old, dramatic, and charming. It's like giving your old dog a new puppy. At first they're annoyed, but then they slowly start being more active to play with the puppy? Not sure that's a good analogy. But Pitch said what goes together better than "cold and dark", while "fear and fun" work just as well together. Thrill rides & Halloween? A lot of adrenaline junkies out there would love what these two could come up with together.
Lost my mind at the Jevil x Spamton (Deltarune) shenanigans, implying they’re divorced exes. It’s so funny. Otherwise Jevil x Seam, estranged magicians is pretty nice too.
Other honorable crack ship mentions I won’t explain: Peridot x Lapis(SU) , Pearl x Bismuth(SU) though honestly I even wonder if that's considered crack cuz.... them ladies.... they like each other... so obvious..., Charlie x Helsa (Hazbin Hotel) , Hiccup x Jack Frost (HTTYD & ROTG crossover) , Nicole x Sally (Sonic Archie) , Mettaton x Papyrus??? for some reason?? (Undertale), Also not crackship but Marceline x Bubblegum I’m just not a big fan of Adventure Time to mention it, not crackship but Chat Noir x Ladybug… if they were written well … , Gaz x Tak because why not… goth girls that slay (Invader Zim)... Also not crack ship probably some ships from Star vs the Forces of evil but I haven't watched that show in a long while and the ships got out of hand at the end.... also like Kallen x Lelouch (Code Geass) but genuinely think Lelouch is Aro Ace and therefore think he's perfect alone... and probably a handful of others I’ve forgotten about or just am not a big enough fan of the series or ship to really name
Though I was hanging out with @ciipher-arts the other day and we just??? Discovered??? An incredibly rare ship??? Sonia x Mina? (Sonic Archie x Underground) I feel like I just had my eyes opened. Omygod the internet is sleeping on this crackship. genius

I'm very interested in how Aizen would have reacted right after his loss to Ichigo to questions from Central 46 or other people (yk rangiku, izuru, shunsui maybe) who would like to talk to him about Gin Ichimaru, asking him why he killed his follower. Will he be honest at least in the fact that he knows that Gin betrayed him? How will he feel hearing their questions?
Well, the short answer to this is fairly simple: Aizen wouldn't be saying shit to anyone, especially not if they're asking him about Gin and what happened during Deicide. It's not their place to know anything about that.
The longer answer is much, much more complicated. Time for a read more. This answer's going to be fairly extensive.
Aizen is, and always has been, an extremely private individual. He's allowed very few people to get close to him and no one's gotten as close to him as Ichimaru Gin has managed to do. Kaname and Momo put Aizen on a pedestal, with Kaname going so far as to all but worship him whilst Momo truly believed he was nothing more than her gentle, kindhearted captain. The point here is that neither of them truly saw Aizen as a person; they only projected onto him their ideal image of him. Kaname venerated Aizen like unto a god and Momo's emotions over Aizen were colored by her affection and love over his kindness and warmth. Even his Espada idolized him, even though Aizen already warned them not to trust him; he very clearly stated that that wasn't anything that he remained interested in. It's actually quite intriguing that, for a man who wanted to fill the vacant throne in the heavens, he actually never has enjoyed being worshiped like a genuine god. There's something that could be said about that.
None of them actually beheld Aizen properly and the Espada followed him out of fear, respect of his strength, or because they genuinely did believe in him.
Gin, on the other hand? Gin actually perceived Aizen, saw him, right from the first time that they met. @godkilller and I have built a very massive dynamic for them, and we're ever discovering new facets of how they are, how they feel, and how they behave with one another. So when I say that Gin saw Aizen, it has to come with the caveat that for the first time in over a century, Aizen found himself not only seen but perceived on a level no one else had given him since he'd been a young boy. All it took was that first meeting on that night when Aizen watched him kill the old man Third Seat and the resultant way that inspired Aizen to take Gin underneath his wing.
And, above anything else, it has to be remembered that Aizen's character has always been one defined by loneliness. He was around others, but Aizen never truly belonged with others. Did he ever really feel accepted into the Division? No, not entirely, and a major factor of that was Shinji who kept him at arm's length, especially emotionally, but remained willing to fuck his lieutenant after some years had passed. Meanwhile, Aizen was, at that time, deeply in love with him. And we all saw how that went; eventually, Aizen's anger and growing hate for him burst the dam and Aizen decided to commit murder for a number of reasons.
But before that happened, Gin showed up in his life and genuinely changed the trajectory that Aizen was on. In a very real way, Gin saved Aizen from himself and the path he was heading down. He managed to pull Aizen from that brink of total despair and despondency. There is no way I can possibly overstate how important Gin became to Aizen, but it can be seen in canon; Aizen's behavior in the Blood War after Deicide is far, far different from how he had been prior to that point after he revealed his ambitions to all of Soul Society. He's withdrawn. He doesn't want to engage in conversation. He's downright apathetic to everything going on and, for that matter, he's become something of a death seeker.
And it's so very obvious when you think about the biggest factor of why that is: Gin isn't there to engage with him, or to make sure that Aizen doesn't hold onto that malaise for an extended period of time. Aizen is very literally full of depression and given his behavior in the final act, there's no way you can convince me that he isn't trying to get himself killed.
The point of stating all of this is because I always have to find ways to convey and emphasize just how profound Aizen's attachment to Gin became; even platonic, it's a genuinely massive loss for Aizen. Throw emotions into that mix and it becomes much, much more painful.
But even without the emotions or anything romantic thrown in, it's still clear that Gin appealed to Aizen in several ways. There was, of course, Gin's raw potential, even at such a young age which excited Aizen to no end, but there's also the fact that he challenged Aizen and was unpredictable to a greater extent than anyone else ever has been. Even Urahara Kisuke couldn't make Aizen guess what he'd do the way Gin can and Kisuke is, as we all know, a very prepared man for any fight. But he's still predictable to Aizen who can come up with countermoves if he really wished to.
Gin, though? Gin kept him guessing and that was a genuinely large part of why he became so important, and that isn't even touching on the fact that Gin was able to become a viable death-threat. That alone captivated Aizen's attention, due to the fact that not only did Gin manage to consistently be unpredictable to him, but he also managed to force Aizen to acknowledge that out of everyone he knew, Gin remained a genuine source of providing even faint flickers of fear and kept Aizen on his toes.
There's also the fact that Gin never idolized Aizen, never put him on any sort of pedestal, and never once tried to be obsequious towards him. In fact, Gin's been downright bratty and sharp-tongued towards Aizen in many ways and instead of being an irritating factor? It was only once again a reason why Aizen found his relationship with Gin to be so appealing to him. Gin's willingness to challenge him, call him out on his actions and behavior and words, and carrying a genuine threat of being able to not only actually harm Aizen but to possibly kill him?
How could Aizen have resisted that kind of appeal?
The fact that Gin was able to perceive him and see through those careful illusions of himself he'd built up in the public eye was absolutely one of the strongest factors for why Aizen took Gin under his wing and soon trusted him above even Kaname was absolutely one of those facets of their relationship that is always important to remember, too. It was that, more than anything, which really made Aizen decide that he wanted to keep Gin close - but the other factors are equally important. Aizen had no one to challenge him for years and given that no doubt brought a profound ennui to his life, Gin was an open breath of fresh air.
I did say the longer answer would be more complicated, didn't I?
Aizen's dealings with the Central 46 are always going to be the same; contemptuous needling or a lack of a response at all. I'm pretty sure if he hadn't been restrained the way he was on the day of his trial in that kangaroo court, he probably would've killed all the replacements to the original slaughter that he, Gin, and Kaname undertook when they were setting their plans into motion. He would never answer their questions, at all, even if they didn't pertain to Gin. He just generally holds that body of bureaucrats in constant disdain. The most they'd get out of him is his mouthing off which is what led to that sentence of 20, 000 years. He has no reason nor desire to ever be polite to those individuals and I imagine that won't ever change. He knows the secrets of the Seireitei and he knows how much those old men will prefer to focus on his actual crimes rather than ever ask him about what happened with Gin as it is. If they ever did ask a question about that, it'd probably be only in passing. The result would be the same, however; Aizen just would not answer them and never plans on doing so. He might, however, be thinking of how nice it'd be to drop a full-chant Kurohitsugi on them all.
But, as for those others...
I don't think Rangiku or Izuru would technically be allowed to speak to Aizen, given what I've read between the lines of what was being done to him leading up to his trial, but if they were? The answer wouldn't change at all.
Aizen is, as I said before, an extremely private man. He wouldn't even be able to begin processing his own emotions over such a profound loss, let alone be able to answer the questions that others posed to him; not very easily, I should say. So if Rangiku and Izuru came to him to ask those questions, Aizen would probably use all manner of ambiguity, bending of the truth, and generally talking circles around them until he managed to make them leave him be -- that is, if he even answered them at all at that point in time when he's beginning to process what happened, or at least to begin realizing that what occurred was his own fault.
He knows, of course, that Gin had an attachment to both Rangiku and Izuru; Rangiku was his Academy classmate and someone who obviously holds Gin in high regard and Izuru was his lieutenant and with him since the day that Aizen decided the most competent of the recruits would become second-in-command to Gin, which is a factor I think some people forget about. But also, Aizen thought of Izuru as the most competent out of all the potential lieutenants that he was considering for Gin and Kaname and therefore picked out Izuru for him. Kind of like a present, you could say. A very weird present, but a present nonetheless, because he wanted Gin to have the advantage there.
So, if they were allowed to see him, they wouldn't get very far with him. If Aizen doesn't want to answer a question, he is quite good at simply closing his mouth and staring the person in question down. I think that'd be how he'd handle it if Izuru and Rangiku were trying to get answers out of him. To him, what passed between himself and Gin is theirs and he isn't willing or interested to let anyone on the outside of that dynamic behold the nuances and complexities therein, especially if he and Gin were involved with one another. It's, quite simply, not their place to know and it isn't information that will be useful to them.
Out of all of the three people listed, I think only Shunsui would be able to get any kind of response that might remotely come close to being an answer to such questions, if you tilted your head upside down and squinted. But only remotely as Aizen wouldn't give him very much information either and anything that he possibly would say would only be surface level at best, nothing that can be confirmed easily or, alternatively, the information would be only what everyone already knew. I do think that Shunsui and Ukitake would be the first (and, perhaps, only) people who'd recognize it if Aizen and Gin wound up in a relationship together and I also think that Shunsui would be able to know that there wouldn't be any good answers, even if Aizen and Gin weren't involved. But it wouldn't stop him from asking until Aizen decided enough was enough and simply chose to remain close-mouthed and make it clear that he was done.
Pertaining to the emotional aspect? Oh, he wouldn't be enjoying any of those experiences. Aizen came out of Deicide wounded by what had happened, deeply so. Their asking questions of him when his emotions are already a tumult within him, trying to find out any information on why he did what he did, wouldn't be something that he'd show. But if capable, he'd absolutely do his best to shut them down and shut them out. Asking questions that pry into the privacy of a man emotionally devastated won't do any good and instead of getting angry with them and shouting? Aizen's much more likely to just, simply, shut down and do nothing, say nothing, until they leave, especially since those questions would be pertaining to Gin. It's an awful mess and Aizen really isn't a man who's good at handling his emotions in a good fashion.
So, in sum, I don't think that he'd ever give anyone a comprehensive answer, if he even answered any questions about Gin in the first place. It's a subject that's both too personal and too painful for him to ever speak on to anyone else and it'll remain that way for years, even decades, perhaps even centuries. He's a mess, especially once everything really starts to sink in for him, and there's nowhere for him to turn for support or help, especially not when he's locked up in Muken.

when kisuke, isshin and rukia were shown to conspire and work together against soul society to bring back ichigo's powers in the fb arc, how do you think the conversation between rukia and isshin went? they mightve talked quite a bit for isshin to entrust the sword and ichigo to rukia. how would he react to her shikai since it was used? wouldnt he ask her why she is helping him? how would she answer? would isshin then put the pieces togther to who comforted ichigo with "stepping into the depths of your heart....i'll wait" speech that ichigo parroted to isshin? would he confront her about what went down during her rescue arc?
So, I'll preface this by saying that Isshin puts up a façade, portraying himself as a goofy idiot, but there are hints he knew Rukia was staying in his house even in the first arc and that he knew or guessed that Ichigo was going to save Rukia when he "went away" for a week (In chapter 68, Isshin says "if you meet any cute girls there, remember to introduce them to me!").
Isshin also almost certainly knew what she was, if not necessarily who she was, when she stayed with the Kurosaki family prior to Ichigo's trip to Hueco Mundo. By the time chapter 186 rolls along, after all, Isshin has enough power to shed his gigai once again and fight Grand Fisher. And presumably, Rukia stays in the Kurosaki home during the month that Ichigo is unconscious following Aizen's defeat.
So, here is how I think this happened:
Isshin's first conversation with Rukia isn't when she is trying to restore Ichigo's powers; it's when Ichigo is unconscious in his bed in the Kurosaki home, his powers slowly fading. Isshin doesn't push, but Rukia tells him, slowly. She tells him about the night she gave Ichigo her powers. About her brother and Renji coming for her and nearly killing Ichigo.
Isshin has heard some of this from Kisuke, of course; he and Kisuke go way back. But he lets Rukia tell him the story of how Ichigo came for her in Soul Society, how he risked himself again and again for her and rescued her from the Sōkyoku; beat sense into her brother and Renji.
Most of all, she tells Isshin that she is sorry for how she has irreparably changed Ichigo's destiny; for how many times he has gotten injured trying to save her, for the trauma of Hueco Mundo, the story of which she herself doesn't fully know.
Isshin, Kaien, and Kūkaku are related, you know. While he doesn't give Rukia a punch in the nose, he does yell at her for taking so much blame onto herself, and reminds her that she's his third daughter, and that he's glad she's safe and that she and Ichigo take such good care of each other. And yes, he'd put the pieces together and understand that it's Rukia who told Ichigo that she would wait until he's ready to tell her about his trauma.
Of course - Ichigo is "normal" when he wakes up, his powers fading into nothing and with them his ability to see Rukia.
Later, Ichigo struggles enormously with being a regular human, unable to protect and unable to see Rukia or the shinigami friends he has made. From Death Save the Strawberry, we know Rukia mostly liaised with Kisuke while he built the special sword that would eventually bring Ichigo's powers back; he and Isshin have a conversation in the manga about the choice to once again change the course of Ichigo's life by returning his powers.
I think Isshin and Rukia see each other only briefly, before that moment when Rukia stabs Ichigo a second time, but I think they understand each other: it's Rukia who first brought him into the world of the shinigami, whose power he carried in his soul, and it's Rukia who must do it again.
So I don't think Isshin needs to ask her why she's helping him; he knows who Rukia is and what she means to his son. I think he'd thank her - for not giving up on him.

Pile One
Personality: Child: Nature, Artist
Overall I can see you being a meek, tempered character. Definitely green-coded, because child nature is pretty straight-forward but artist kind of enforces a serene and like….out of touch with reality quality to you. As a member of the group, you’d be the one who’d rarely like to pick sides when an argument erupts, preferring to make sure everyone is heard and opting for alternative solutions instead. You don’t really like violence and you don’t like loud harsh things either. The only thing that can get you amped up is when people abuse nature or those less fortunate. Ironically I feel like you’d be brought up in all of these circumstances but we’ll find that out later. I keep getting a picture of someone painting by a reservoir or out in a park near the river but they have a…peaceful, solitude energy to them. They’re okay being alone. I don’t believe you’d be the member who would rather fight alone, but you also won’t really be looking for your counterparts either. You very much either enjoy the companionship of pets/animals, nature, or just very close loved ones….rarely. I also can imagine you’re very focused on individualistic goals and the series would probably throw in a random symbolic love plot randomly in the series but it would really impact your character and the rest of your actions would be ‘in honor of them’, something like that. All in all, you’re very much the most empathetic and spiritually connect member of the group, or at least one of the two. Probably a lot of hijinks that involve you disappearing out of the blue only to be found meditating out in the woods or something. There is a slight quirky energy beneath all of this calmness.
Storyline: Ace of Wands, Ace of Pentacles Rx, Four of Cups Rx, Nine of Wands (The Fool), Three of Pentacles (BoD: Seven of Wands Rx)
Literally said ‘shut the fuck up this is so cute’ out loud lmao whoops. So starting off, I see gifted kid syndrome here. This is someone who is very talented, powerful, creative, has the world at their fingertips, etc. Your mind would be filled to the brim with ideas to bring to life. However at the same time for some reason I’m feeling like there’s a bit of…like you know what you’re capable of. You know your worth and you’d kinda feel some way if anyone gives you any less than what you think you deserve, but I think it’s because of this Ace of Pentacles, which would be when you get your powers. It’s like it severely threw you off (understandably). Think of like…any scene from any show where the protag is losing their mind because they don’ t know what’s happening. I’m vividly seeing that scene where Ichigo is struggling to hide her ears and tails from her crush and has to run away. Your energy though is much more frustrated than light-hearted and funny. You could be thrown into a ‘why me’ mentality because these powers might have a neutral effect that overflows into normal life when you’re not using them like into TMM (like how Ichigo gained cat like reflexes). It can also just give you an irate mood which causes friction with your friends and family because this isn’t necessarily something you can just vent about. This is really screwing up your groove though because it’s not meshing well with Whatever creative endeavor you were banking your future on and it made you miss out on what you believed to be your destiny. However it’s okay! We have Four of Cups Rx for when you meet the others. I’m pretty sure this is going to be an accidental meeting, or you’re going to be in some ‘accident’ when you see some Colorfully Acrobatic People come in and save the day and something registers in your head that ‘oh…maybe this was my destiny instead. I don’t need to only have one direct line for what I’m meant to do’. I also don’t believe they’ll notice you either (you’re really good at hiding your presence lmao), you’ll be the one to approach them and sort of confide and ask them for help in a way and lowkey get dragged into this world saving stuff LOL. Fittingly, we have the Nine of Wands afterwards, but what came flying out with it was The Fool, which is So damn cute oh my god. While you’re obviously out there risking your life every day, and there’s this strong resolve and you have battle scars and you’re never going to give up until you win—there is this newfound fresh energy given to you by your new teammates. Due to you having to work with these people and interact so much, their warmth starts to fill you up after some time and you might find yourself picking up some small habits of theirs after some time, and honestly acting very out of character for you (seeking companionship, being more extroverted, opening up a lot faster, etc). Then to end we have the Three of Pentacles!!!!!!! AH!!! By the end of this journey, you’ll have started to come into your own and be much more comfortable with teamwork and the you from the beginning of this story is like a distorted image if someone were to show you them. With the Seven of Wands Rx too, it’s really enforcing that you’ve learned to let your guard down and no longer fight against letting people in (it can also be, literally, the fight is over), but this just screams to me that someone who was shut off from others and avoided them is now reaching out to them and is the one speaking the most in meetings lmao. Not a complete 180, but definitely more open.
Lessons Learned: Morning – The world awaits you
Pile One I’m Screaming. This card is asking you if you’re truly living your life or are you just going through the motions and to have this as the lesson you learn throughout the series, maybe I’m going to cry over a hypothetical character? This basically just repeats what I stated a minute ago. Your character would’ve been so focused on their destination and goal at the start of the series that they weren’t really too bothered about smelling the roses or hanging out with others, or even some of their family. So by the time the series ends, they’ll have learned to loosen up and relax and understand that what’s the most important thing is to be able to look back and be able to remember moments where they really fell in love with their life or the people that they let in. To laugh at memories they made or be able to look at buildings or neighborhoods and pull out an imprinted memory from months or years ago. That’s the lesson you would’ve learned in your story.
Powers/Weapon: Full Moon, Luna
So moon moon LMAO. For some reason I keep seeing like a monocle, or a magnifying glass. You definitely would have powers over water or maybe like a gravitational- OH wait like Michiru? From Sailor Moon. She had a mirror and used water so maybe your powers would work something like that. I think maybe if you used it as a reflection maybe in some weird way you can use the mirror and gravitation as a means to keep someone fixed to whatever it was viewing as it’s gravitational pull? Honestly I’m not thinking too much there’s just an emphasis on like The Moon but not really water?? And also like glass so definitely that monocle or magnifying glass, so go crazy if you can think of something! There are tidal waves in the full moon card though.

Pile Two
Personality: Mentor, Destroyer (Shadow)
Soooo definitely getting the vibe that you’re one of the members who would’ve been in the game for a bit before the others found you. You’re independent and not necessarily cooperative? It’s not an aggressive underhanded way of interacting with people, but you really don’t like abiding by other people’s rules or ideologies. You’re more than willing to teach others ways to get by and important things to remember, but you keep everyone at arm’s length. I think you’d see everything objectively and are very emotionally detached. It’s giving madoka magica. You’ve seen people come and go, not in the best way, and if you can save others from falling to the same fate then you will. However, that doesn’t mean you’re going to let them keep their rose colored glasses. They’re playing in the big leagues now and they need to understand that, so some may call you cold-hearted but you’re looking out for them in your own way. This would probably be fueled by someone you would’ve lost because that would make sense as to this polarized warm yet icy feeling that I’m getting. Plus a lot of songs are coming in that speak of missing someone.
Storyline: The Chariot Rx, Ten of Cups Rx, Knight of Wands Rx, Temperance, Seven of Pentacles Rx (BoD: The Hanged Man)
Oof yeah this is giving me Kyoko vibes. Before the series starts, your character would feel very frustrated. A bit like they’re in the passenger seat of their life and everyone else is behind the steering wheel but they don’t have the nerve or energy to take it back? There are aspects of their life that they desperately want to have under control but somewhere in the back of their mind they’re scare of what would happen if they step up and do something about it. Like it might impact everyone else around them. Now for obtaining your powers, we receive the Ten of Cups Rx. When you received your powers, you believed heavily that this would be the answer to all of your problems but it backfired on you. I feel the need to say this but I’m getting the feeling that there’s a lot of self-fulfilling prophecy going on here. Like if you believed that if you didn’t bring your lucky bracelet with you then you’d have a bad day, but then of course you would because you’d be paying extra close attention to everything happening so you’re noticing a lot more stuff than usual and you’re already in a stressed/bad mood. However with this it’s a lot heavier like either an actual loss or just broken relationships and I just need to say it’s not your fault. It’s normal to overanalyze and have what-ifs but please don’t bear all the burden and trick yourself into believing you’re at fault. If it doesn’t resonate then leave it, this was supposed to be a light hearted fun pac but uuhh I guess messages will be messages??  For meeting the others, we have the Knight of Wands Rx. This to me speaks for someone who will be a bit…rough around the edges. You are definitely going to be someone they will be in awe of, but you can also be impatient and kind of vulgar? I keep hearing ‘keep up kid’ lmao. I get the feeling that you don’t really avoid them as a group, and you will play along with whatever requests they have, but you don’t make it easy. So you might give them riddles whenever they have questions, or make them do drills when they request your help physically—it reminds me of grimmjow too, like the vibe you give off. Now for Temperance, I believe that as the story goes on, you learn to gain some ease of mind and to level out your emotions as well. You don’t give much trouble whenever help is requested, and you’re less intense as time goes on (and it’s deeeeefinitely a teasing point of the rest of the cast). Throughout the series you would’ve been helping them secretly from behind or without them knowing, and after a while you would’ve stopped caring about your ‘secret role’ and just gotten on them for being so careless and ‘bad at their job’. I think you also would’ve had a slight vendetta against the enemy for ruining whatever you had before the series started, and as time goes on you would’ve learned to help let that go, definitely by watching the rest of them interact with the world around them and also with you. Seven of Pentacles Rx…I think this story would’ve ended with a sacrifice or a failed mission, seriously your story is just sounding straight out of madoka. I think this would’ve been a member that you would’ve gotten close to as the story progressed because I sense frustration, like the scene you always have of a character punching the ground. I’m also getting like a flash of fire. You know how candles flicker? It’s like that but a lot more intense. So I’m sort of getting the feeling that someone might have felt the need (whether they were right or not about it) to go for the mission and it causes all those lessons you learned to fall to the wayside for a hot second before someone else pulls you back and reminds you. I’m glad the hanged man is at the back of the deck because it means the lessons stay with you after all of this, and I think you’d keep in loose contact with everyone but I kind of still feel like you’d keep to yourself still? It’s kind of like that friend who moves to another country and they make surprise visits and everyone really loves to see them. Definitely a fighter/warrior and definitely getting red vibes from this pile.
Lessons Learned: Villain – You can always rewrite the story
I’m gonna cry this is so sweet. Very much lines up with everything above. At some point you would’ve gotten yourself stuck in the position that you need to keep yourself alone in this glass box because if you interact with others then their lives will fall apart or you will ruin whatever they have going for them, but with the people that come into contact with you—well, how they crash into your life constantly, you’ll come to learn that you Are welcome and you’re not some virus. You are rough around the edges, you can be a little rude, but you’re still welcome and they still welcome you in and will defend you just like anyone else they know, and it will make you re-evaluate a lot within yourself and make you realize that at any point you can change how you view yourself because some of it is not correct in the first place.
Powers/Weapon: 7th House - Partners
Mimicry was the first thought I had- OOH! Oh my god I’ve been speaking about loss and stuff and of course I get the 7th house so yeah, take that. You are a very intimate and sensitive person, don’t let what other people assume of you affect you, you know yourself best. Anyway, mimicry. Yeah I believe that you just have the ability to copy people’s powers but it has to be activated in a certain way? I don’t believe you’d have to touch them but like, maybe if you see them use their powers effectively in full then you can use it or something? I’m also seeing strings so maybe hand to hand combat involves that in some way? Very sexy of you, we need more string involved hand to hand combat. Take care of yourselves pile two.

Pile Three
Personality: Shape-shifter, Child: Magical
Something was telling me this pile would be heavy before I even got the first card and well. Yeah. I. Both these cards talk about seeing the potential and possibilities in everything beyond what’s in front of you. There’s something about you where you have an Infinite amount of wisdom thanks to numerous past lives, if we were to go back to reality for a second, and your connection to your higher self or the spiritual realm in general, but you’re not bogged down by it. You have a very big ‘why not’ mindset, and you don’t let a lot of things stop you. Errors don’t really get to you because you tend to really just make things up as you go. There’s a whimsical feeling to you, but it’s bubbly as opposed to pile one. I can absolutely see you as those characters who would simply be banking on mere hope to get them through tough times or because ‘you just feel it’, which is by no means an easy thing to trust and just rely on. It’s very weird because you have simultaneously a heavy but very light-hearted energy and I’m pretty sure I know which energy you’re presenting by choice. Duality, as the kids call it. Also, 100% for the power of friendship motif.
Storyline: Chariot (Ace of Swords Rx), The Fool Rx, Queen of Swords Rx, Ten of Cups, Three of Cups (BoD: The Tower)
AH! Oh no okay. It’s giving white/purple aesthetic. So before the story starts, I think your character would Seem to be going places. They would seem to have everything in order and like they’re unstoppable, but they’re kinda faking it. It kind of reminds me of ‘Make It Up’ by Same Tsui. You can seem very graceful and you’re Very good at keeping your skeletons in your closet, and honestly you keep people pretty far away from your inner circle, because no one really knows that you have no idea what you’re doing with your life and that you actually don’t know what you’re going to be doing in a few years and no you don’t have a job after this please stop asking!! It’s kind of like you’re mind if always running and there’s a million thoughts going so even when you’re ‘engaging’ in conversation, you’re not really there but people only really like you for ‘pleasant’ company. There’s something about your aura that they just try to be around? Yeah definitely getting the white/purple energy here. With The Fool Rx, I think this actually helps you in some backwards way? It’s definitely another responsibility added to your plate that you Did not want, but it’s also like a distraction/get away from your worldly responsibilities that you will Gladly take. Like who else is going to take down that giant alien that’s destroying city hall, the president? I do get the feeling that you’re even more restrictive about the people you talk to and who you let in so you feel a lot more lonely than before, but it’s like you let your frustrations out in battle and you’re sort of disconnected and kind of treat this persona like it’s not even you in a way. Like a VTuber lmao. Now the Queen of Swords……lmao yeah yall not fucking with them LMAO. It’s not for the usual reason, but I don’t think you’ve been in this game for a bit, but you just don’t want to give up the near reckless way that you do things. You’ll be quite blunt about it too, feeling like the ‘girls like you are annoying’ line. I think they’ll eventually win you over after a minute, because the only reason I see you rejecting the invitation is for your freedom to do what you please and you believe that you’ll lose that if you join them. Now your next card!!! For the duration of the series!! Ten of Cups that’s so beautiful and adorable. You will eventually come to see this group as your family and they will fill up all the holes and cracks you thought you’d never be able to fix. Weirdly despite the general personality up there, I think you might be around the average age or a bit younger (maybe 1-2, not by much). When it comes to deep philosophical or moral issues, or you have that down, but when it comes to like…life? You can flounder, and the rest of the team helps you out with that so much, you can see them as guides in a way. Lowkey feeling a strong protective energy towards this from this card and as I was typing this, all this and heaven too came on. So to finish off with the Three of Cups, you definitely would’ve found a loving friend group that you never want to lose. Like after that mission is over you demand they keep in contact and you make sure you all have monthly hangouts and you keep up to date with all of them or they’ll never hear the end of it. Having The Tower on the back, I believe that throughout the series, there’s a lot of metamorphosis going on. You would’ve had to shed a lot of your beliefs and understandings of the world and how it works to get to this ten/three of cups at the end of the story, because you started off very stand-offish so it’s like this was a destined plan for you.
Lessons Learned: Feather – Think first before you judge
Yeah, it’s not necessarily like. Rich kid? But there is a feeling of ‘you won’t understand my world or where I come from so why should I bother’. You placed yourself on a different world from everyone else, and while they are Also detached from who you are at your core, you also did that too in a way? At the end of the day, you will come to learn that there are people that will be willing to learn how you operate and who you truly are, and they will love to meet that person. You, though, have to remember to give them a chance before assuming.
Powers/Weapon: Gemini
Dual wielding!!!!! There is a snake on the card…also angel wings on both figures here so maybe those can have something to do with your outfit, but I’ve been thinking of a staff the entire time. There’s also a sun and a moon on here—so maybe you can swap between two powers but there’s a cooldown? If there’s no swapping then you have two elements or powers and they offset the other from going crazy, but if there is swapping then you just…have a cooldown lol. Which I think would be neat. Also explains the messy energy up there in your fighting.

Pile Four
Personality: Child: Divine (Shadow), Child: Magical (Shadow)
You are very sensitive. There’s a high level of escapism here. The issue is that you believe so much in the good of man, that when they continue to prove you wrong, you take it personally. It impacts you way too much and it plagues you longer than it should. Definitely do not benefit from taking in various news outlets. You have a strong sense of justice, and it’s your main motivator, so when you can’t keep your promises to others or you fail yourself in a way, even that can get you into a depressive spiral. There are a lot of things that can throw you out of balance here. I kind of feel like you have training wheels on within this realm, and you try very hard to do good but it’s like the evil is out balancing you and we’ll get into when we look at your story but I think as time goes on you’ll figure out how to make smaller impacts that matter instead of trying to hold the entire world in your hands because it’s just not possible. I see someone like curled up into a ball, they’re not crying or anything it’s very peaceful but that’s like your resting state in a way? It recharges you before you absolutely drain yourself doing your best to rewrite all the wrongs that are happening. It’s a very strong pure energy, it’s just exhausting at the same time.
Storyline: The Fool Rx, The Devil Rx, Queen of Pentacles Rx, The Chariot, Queen of Swords Rx (BoD: Five of Wands Rx)
Mhm, I’m getting a lot of restriction before we meet you. It’s a feeling of someone telling your character all the people to avoid, what times to get back home, make sure you always have this or that on you, etcetc. Reminding me Very much of my dad telling me to remember 21 pages worth of laws before I moved lmao. You’d feel restrictive because those rules would also come with the price of you minding your business and never getting involved, so if someone is in trouble you’d have to just Leave them to their troubles—which does not match your personal code of conduct. So then we get to The Devil Rx. You feel SO relieved getting your powers. It’s like before it was always sitting in the back of your head that you can’t do anything and you’d always wonder if you’d see them as headlines the next day or if they got their issue solved etcetc, but now you CAN do something and no one has to know about it. You can save those who are in need and finally get that itch that’s been bugging the hell out of you for so long! It’s a dream come true! Until we get to the Queen of Pentacles. You maaaaaaay have had an issue with going overboard. You also may think too little of the rest of your team. I sense a slight conflict with them and within yourself when you start to wonder what they’re doing, which will lead you to wonder what You’re really doing as well. I kind of feel like you’re really happy to know that there are others who ‘answered the call’, but then there’s a slight disappointment that they aren’t going as fast as you’d like them to? You’d start a slight argument with whoever is in charge before going back off on your own for a bit before getting your ass beat and needing help anyway and then starting to realize that maybe you’re being a bit too forceful and stubborn about the whole thing. You’re taking on way too much and you’re trying to be like some holy hand that solves the whole problem themselves when you can’t and even as a group, that’s impossible in a sense. So with The Chariot, you slowly learn how to take control of what you can and cannot do, and how to balance and figure out how to exert your energy whenever you can. It’s a bit of a struggle I feel in the beginning, but you learn pretty quickly that you don’t have to be a magical hero to make changes in daily life, and it’s just a lesson learned from your past you need to move on from. So with this lesson comes the Queen of Swords Rx. By the end of the series, you’ve learned what boundaries you need to place up as to not drain your energy so horrifically. I sense a little bit of snark too as opposed to someone so straight-laced, you’re kinda funny LOL. With this being backed up by the Five of Wands Rx, it’s definitely just a lot of battles you learn to live and let go, things that aren’t worth fighting for and compromises you need to make within yourself as to have time for bigger and more important things.
Lessons Learned: Princess – You can be your own knight
I think this speaks to the beginning energy. You being caught in the feeling that you were helpless and you need this magical power to help those in need (because like, at the end of the series you lose them you know). Over the course of the series you start to remind yourself that you don’t have to be so bombastic about the things you do to make the world a better place and just helping one person with a small task can have an enormous ripple effect that you may not see, but it’s taking place and you have no idea when it will end, but it’s helpful.
Powers/Weapon: 3rd House - Intellect
Honestly I wasn’t seeing anything so that explains it. Also explains why I got reminded of that story of mine, cause there’s someone reading a pretty thick book here. I think you’ll have a power that allows you to sense out enemies? Sort of like Ami’s computer/tablet thing from Sailor Moon, but without the technology. You also might just be the tactician of the team, but your argument felt uuuhhh virgo mars like. For fighting style though, I do see someone participating in hand to hand combat though, sometimes just beating someone up is acceptable and valid.

Pile Five
Personality: Beggar (Shadow), Goddess (Judge – Shadow)
Okaaaay. I was a little bit confused for a second, but this is definitely someone plagued with impostor syndrome and tries to laugh it off with little goofy antics. I think as you were growing up, you were told that you strongest qualities Was your appearance or your fashion sense, things like that? But people never paid attention to everything else you had to offer unless they were reprimanding you. So after a bit you found yourself agreeing that you don’t have much to offer besides a pretty face, and you kind of shy away from putting in effort? I’m pulling a third card lmao. Okay we have Judge in the shadow position, but Prostitute did flip over abruptly while I was trying to get another card. I. Do not sense any negative energy coming out of this pile. I mean I sense a bit of hurt or like, abandonment in a way? I don’t really know how to explain it, it’s kind of like I’m shut out. Which makes sense. I think because of this, you can snap at people whenever you’re criticized  and when you spot a chance to do so, it can come out a bit harsher than you intend it to (though you Do intend to hurt them just a bit, just not that bad). However, what I Do see is someone who is very sweet, and willing to give a helping hand if someone else needs it. They are able to be objective and give clear options or opinions on a matter to help someone else make a reasonable decision—but that’s definitely being blocked by some hurt or childhood wounds currently. So I can’t Really get a clear reading, but there’s some sweetness underneath all of this. (Even before I could understand the first two I wanted to put down seven devils so)
Storyline: Wheel of Fortune Rx, Strength, Ace of Pentacles, Knight of Swords Rx, The Hermit (BoD: Three of Pentacles)
Starting off, I believe you’d be running through a string of bad luck, or you just feel like you’re in a bad place in general. You’re being held a bad hand of cards, you’re not favored  by the world—however you want to put it. That’s the viewpoint that your character is going to be sitting in. It’s pretty straight-forward? You’ll be feeling pretty down and negative about everything, and there’s not much to drag you out of it. It’s not that you’ll be alone, because I see people reaching out or getting you to talk to people but you really don’t see the point in it and you’re not very communicative about how you’re feeling either. Now for when you receive your powers, this will give you some faith back in a way. It’s sort of false hope, but it’s Something for you, and you’ll take it. With Strength, you kind of see it like ‘oh, I’m special? This is for me and me only’. It gives you an energy boost and I don’t think many other people will question what is giving you a pep in your step, they’re just kinda happy that you’re looking a bit better lmao. I don’t really see you being very proactive about helping others honestly, you just enjoy Having something for your own? Now for the Ace of Pentacles, I think you’d see the group as a good idea to join. Something about them being sort of like an after school club? In a way? It has nothing to do with morals or vibes or anything but it’s like you’re not doing anything else and they seem fun so why not. I think you meeting them would be kind of goofy. Like you didn’t plan it but it feels like the ‘same hat’ comic lmao. Your energy throughout the series though would be the Knight of Swords Rx, so I think your general composure would kind of….irritate your teammates a bit? They are much more headstrong and passionate about this mission than you are and the way you’re so blasé about the outcome of it can piss some of them off sometimes, which a few of them won’t be so shy about expressing. They can tell you treat this like a game and there would be many instances until a complete blow up between you and them but it’s very helpful for your growth and healing as a person. I believe some of them would see who you are beneath it all (definitely in times of important decision making) and would actively try and get that to come out during these arguments, while others are just straight up annoying lol. Like I said though, you would definitely take some time to yourself after those heated moments and mull over them and wonder just what to do with yourself which can lead you to The Hermit by the end. I think after everything, with everyone’s indirect help, you can start some inner healing and rework some of thoughts that you have. You’d still be chill, but in a much more attached and coherent way, people can actually reach you by the end of the series. With the Three of Pentacles to back it up too, you’ll be much more open to people’s input and concerns they have and be more responsive when it comes to your life and your inner world.
Lessons Learned: Library – Take control of your own narrative
Yeah, a consistent energy of you being more present by the time this series is over. It also speaks back to the very beginning, of people overlooking your other qualities for just being a pretty face. You are much more than what people take you to be at face value. Do not let others diminish your light or have them ruin the sweet energy that is hiding within you because despite the Attempt of trying to lock it away in a tiny safe, I can still feel it lmao. As the card says, you have a whole story to tell that no one else can do for you, don’t let them take that away from you. Something tells me you have a very individualistic quality to the way you present yourself.
Powers/Weapon: 12th House - Secrets
God pile five LMAO. There might be something to do with manipulation or…control? The image is showing me a key being reflected in the water, but for some reason I can only think of someone controlling someone else via speech.

Pile Six
Personality: Avenger, Fool (Shadow)
Okay Diego. I’m getting very like...no yeah, I’m getting Diego from TUA. For the Fool aspect, I think something like your upbringing has shaped you in a way to sort of deflect from being vulnerable. It doesn’t have to directly be your parents, because you know childhood bullying exists lmao, but it’s sort of like…it’s really weird. You are very compassionate and empathetic because you have a strong moral stance and you believe in a right and a wrong, and you can’t stand seeing the weak get picked on—which is possibly a sensitive point for you—but at the same time if someone asked you to open up you’d do everything in your power to distract them from the original topic until you can escape. Definitely the type to go through some rough shit and dust it off as ‘nothing’ as well. You also tend to approach things distantly as if you’re on the outside looking in? It’s a kind of defense mechanism that people can mistake as being cold-hearted or insensitive, but you’re very much still vulnerable which is why you do it in the first place. Someone who is cold-hearted wouldn’t even bother to get traits close to an avenger lmao. This is all pretty straight-forward sooo
Storyline: Eight of Swords, The Moon, Ten of Cups, Six of Wands, The Fool (Queen of Pentacles Rx)
Lmao bruh. Okay so I believe that you share some qualities with pile four. However your energy is much more headstrong and flamboyant in a way. Before the series starts, you will be feeling trapped in a way, but it’s about your circumstances in how you can help those around you. It’s like a reflection of yourself and how you ‘rank’ yourself as a person. Like if you’re a good guy or a bad guy, even though it’s impossible to objectively do that. So when you receive your powers, quite literally, you take on a hidden person. You go full bat-family. You are kiiiinndda confused about this whole thing but all you need to know is that you have powers to help take down monsters and you’re fine. So hopefully this isn’t the realm that has clauses in it because you definitely didn’t wait around to read them. I’m definitely getting a loner vibe for a bit, and it kind of takes priority in your life, because it’s very important to you, even though it doesn’t seem like it to others. Honestly I feel like that just assume you’re slacking off in work/school. With the Ten of Cups, I feel a lot of excitement when you meet the others, because it’s like you’ve found more people who share the same viewpoint and line of ethics that you do. Whether or not that’s what’s truly happening, that’s how You feel inside. It’s like a bouncing ball of energy, it’s flying around the room LMAO. You are soooo happy to find them, it’s really cute. You join them without a doubt and honestly I don’t feel a lot of tension or conflict because you are being represented by the Six of Wands for the series energy. There is mighty success on your end and you feel like you’re fulfilling what you’re meant to be doing? Like when you wake up and see people safe or overhear them talking about ‘that crazy thing that happened last night’, it puts a small smile on your face because You did that, you were that masked colorful crazy kid that helped them last night. So yeah it’s a thankless job but more and more people are safer on the streets thanks to you guys! Which will leave you feeling like The Fool followed by the Queen of Pentacles Rx by the end of the series. You will feel so refreshed and excited like a little kid but can’t help but kind of feel empty? I keep hearing ‘what’s next?’, you really don’t want it to stop here. Like obviously you don’t want Another threat to fall upon your world, but also like…seriously though what’s next. It can be kind of annoying to your teammates because they’re exhausted after all of that and they’re happy that they just finished without any harm done and you agree but you’re seriously wide-eyed for any new adventures to go on, and I get the feeling that it kind of gives you an idea for a possible career to make of it (though the thrill just isn’t the same, you know).
Lessons Learned: Tree – Let them go
This speaks for people who tend to suck up the emotions of those around them, or generational wounds. I can definitely see this being a problem that you slowly start to learn as the series goes on, and afterwards. Like I said, it’s the same issue with pile four so you might’ve been attracted to that pile too? For you, it’s a case of not letting the world seep into your veins and trying to figure out where your emotions end and theirs begin. Once again, you are a highly empathetic and sensitive person, you just don’t display it. Even worse because you don’t really take the time to sort out your emotions as much as you should, so this is definitely a learning curve for you throughout the series.
Powers/Weapon: Cancer (1st House—Self)
A lot of water and moon imagery for most of these piles. I also didn’t really see much while writing, so I’m asking for another card hehe. Ah. Are you just a reflection of pile one because I mentioned Michiru’s mirror and here it is again LMAO. Uh. Well, this pile can Definitely have a power like her’s if they don’t prefer something else because That was pretty straight-forward as opposed to it being a Possibility for them.

The Nothing But the Rain Arc is next in TYBW anime!!!!! In honor of that, here's my question- in a past ask you noted that kaien and masaki got on like a house on fire, but how did they first meet? Did masaki go to visit isshin at the clinic one day and kaien just happen to be visiting at the same time? Or did isshin specifically go out of his way introduce the two of them?
Along that vein, what would you say was kaien's first impressions of the sunny young lady who would one day become his Aunty Masaki? (Which is WEIRD to think about since there's a 360-something year age difference between them. Though I can see masaki hamming up the aunty role on occasion for the lulz.)
Yeah, I can't wait to see it animated.
I have a short that I wrote on my Ao3 where Kisuke sends Kaien in Isshin's direction to help sort out the remaining odds and ends [here]. Not entirely canon to BB but I like to think that until Isshin found his footing, Kaien helped out at the clinic for a couple months. Mostly administrative work and the how-tos of navigating the bureaucracy of human business management until Uncle Isshin figured out 'Idiot's Guide on How to Human'.
Masaki happened to visit during a time when Kaien was working. Kaien assumed she was a patient waiting for an appointment, albeit a super friendly and charming one and they struck up idle conversation while Isshin was handling his current patient. Their talk eventually turned the subject of traveling; Kaien described different countries he'd travelled to (without mentioning he was technically supposed to be in hiding, of course) while Masaki animatedly discussed places she's like to go - asking after particulars if Kaien had already been there.
Then Isshin introduced them properly when he finally managed to cut in.
Of course, Masaki figured out they were family the second she laid eyes on them (and understandably/hilariously mistook Kaien for Isshin's son from Soul Society).
After that introduction, they went out to lunch and got to know each other. Kaien was shocked to learn Masaki knew about Shinigami and the spirit world but presumed Isshin told her to keep her safe thanks to her uncommonly high reiatsu for a human (Isshin didn't dissuade the notion). Masaki in turn was stunned to find out Kaien was another former Shinigami but didn't press for details. However she did tease Isshin for losing his powers while Kaien somehow managed to keep his.
That aside, they got on extraordinarily damn well. Something Isshin was only pleased about.
Though Kaien's gut reaction to hearing Masaki and Isshin were engaged was a blunt 'Wait, what now? Good god, Uncle works fast.'. That being said, he has plenty of hilarious stories about how that bachelor's party went down. (Kisuke and Shinji both have hilariously compromising photos that Isshin would rather die than let see the light of day. ;) )
Yes. Masaki did ham up being Kaien's aunt despite being 3.5 centuries younger than him, but Kaien took it in his usual genial humour and got his fair share of teasing rebuttals in. In general, they were always on very good terms. And whenever Kaien was in town, the three of them would get together for a dinner or lunch. After Ichigo came along Masaki was perfectly happy to let Kaien watch her baby boy while she and Isshin had date nights.
On a more melancholic note; though Kaien was thrilled to see his Uncle with his new bride, watching them together made Kaien a little envious. I think seeing how happy they were together is one of the catalysts for why Kaien began seeing a certain individual in his immediate circle in a different light.
Whether those feeling are reciprocated; only time will tell.

This is not the kind of thing I usually meta about here but I’m at work and thinking about it so here we go.
I’m thinking about the only two GENUINELY kind acts that Urahara performs- as in “this act had no actual value to an overall strategy and, in fact, could have been a detriment to what he was already doing”- is because of Hiyori.
Now keep in mind that Urahara is at his core… not a bad person but not a good person either. He’s the sort of person that you don’t trust with YOUR life, but the lives of as many people as possible. He cannot single out an individual life because when that happens, you run the risk of sacrificing more people. Absolutely Rukia’s life was worth the lives of everyone Aizen would kill if he got his hands on the hogyoku. That’s just math. You don’t have to like it but most people understand that’s how he operates even as it makes him seem pretty cold and indifferent. (And he’s not.)
But Hiyori DOES NOT. From the jump, Hiyori is calling him out. At first, it’s because he’s dopey and he doesn’t get angry and he’s clearly a people-pleaser. (Which I’m assuming he was only doing for her benefit because she’s bossy, temperamental, and suffering from abandonment and it was tactically sound to complement her without butting heads.) She DOES NOT like his tactics. Period. She doesn’t like the Maggot’s Nest and is extremely irritated about him being from squad two, which tells me Hiyori has a zero tolerance policy for deceit.
Yoruichi? Urahara’s BEST FRIEND? She knows (and would scream at him if he didn’t) that he would let her die if it would save a hundred people. She gets pissed at him when his inclinations skew selfish and don’t take tactics into consideration. When Hiyori ends up in a dangerous situation that Urahara put her in, she’s the one who tells him to captain up and respect that Hiyori can handle herself- sending someone else into a situation that MULTIPLE people are already involved in is stupid and shows that he doesn’t believe Hiyori can handle herself.
Except HIYORI wouldn’t think like that. Hiyori fears abandonment. Hiyori doesn’t like lives being weighed and measured against the best possible scenario. So Urahara goes after her and it ends up BEING a tactically unsound decision that gets him exiled and loses him the chance to undermine Aizen from the inside. What it does do is save several individuals at the cost of Soul Society losing the only people who could have stopped Aizen quickly. It was not a decision that came to ANYTHING except saving the Visored and Urahara made it work but it took a century.
Now the second time: during the Blood War arc, the only scene we really get with Hiyori and Urahara is the scene where she says, pointedly, that he’s clearly okay with Ichigo and Yoruichi going into a dangerous situation if it suits his plans and she is PISSED. We only see Urahara from the back and he doesn’t react, but when he goes out, at first, he’s with Kyouraku’s group and then, at some point during I believe the Gerard fight (aka the FIGHT URAHARA PROBABLY COULD HAVE REALLY HELPED WITH), he’s fucked off and where does he end up? In the Askin fight where Ichigo and Yoruichi ended up. (I know Ichigo fucked off before Urahara got there but he WAS there.)
Oh huh. So Urahara abandoned the group he was SUPPOSED to be with because either he sensed Yoruichi and Ichigo were in danger or because he felt he needed to get to them. And yes, his fight with Askin turned out tactically in his favor and he was able to prevent repeating his mistakes but THAT GERARD FIGHT NEEDED HIM.
And you could argue with Mayuri out, there was NO ONE else who could fight Askin and win so it worked out fine, but the point is that Urahara did not set out to meet up with Yoruichi. He just DECIDED that in the moment.
Because Hiyori said “these are your friends and people you love and you DO NOT LEAVE THEM BEHIND.” And he didn’t leave her behind and I don’t think she ever really grasped that- or she did and she can’t reconcile it with the persona Urahara projects.
Hiyori is the only person who absolutely will not accept Urahara’s bullshit and will bully him to do better and I VALUE that relationship and Kubo owes me reparations for not giving me more of it.

KHR Recs
These goodies are on FFN. Maybe some were transferred over to Ao3.
Russian Roulette by Vixen Tail
PreCanon OC born in Russia derails canon. Amazing world-building, accurate major events with mentioned divergences, slow burn endgame romance with Reborn, also she does have other relationships. I don't know how to talk about this fic without spoilers. This is a huge series, remember that. She's on the last part of the series now (vixen thinks) and the chapters are huge. I swear to God, this is the #1 khr fic for me.
Anything by wolfsrainrules and northeast.
Breathe Throught the Flames by NorthPeach
Ichigo is reborn. He has magic fire powers. And is that... a parent? Who's parenting him?
Some Say Ice, I Favor Fire by NorthPeach
"Consider actual unicorns. Dragons." Skull tried to warn you, Reborn. Hibari and Tsuna raise a dragon. Only 2 chapters but they're beautiful. Hibari loves his firstborn child and Will raise the best dragon ever.
Slip Up by wolfrainsrules
Undergoing rewrite under Slip Up Revamped. HP/KHR. Skull is Harry and the Arcobalenco learns what kind of person their "Lackey" really is.
Also on Ao3. All their fics are great. Those that aren't oneshots are not yet completed, however.
Out of this World series by Luki Fanfic
This one is on Ao3 as well. The series is about the 10th Gen plus Tsuyoshi going to a new world to build a life. There's a BNHA and a Pokémon crossover. BNHA is a more Slice of Life Humor while the Pokemon I purely Humor, not quite Crack. Pokemon does have Hibari, though.
Black Sky by Umei no Mei
HPxKHR Starts with FemHP being raised by the Black's before she gets with Xanxus. Fair warning, very long WiP fic. Also, stays with HP for a long time. Comes off with a very Period Piece since Dorea (femHP) was raised by Old People Nobility. Amazing worldbuilding. Everything slots together beautifully, from both fandoms. Also, Dorea is a single mom for a while because of Nono's bitch ass. But she does get to meet Daniella (badass grandma with a crossbow who led the Vongola during WW2, you will adore this character, she hated almost every family decision her son made)! Beautiful communication between Dorea and Xanxus, once they realize there are cultural and personal misunderstandings.
He Deserves Better by AliceVermillion
Cliche twin fic, Tauna runs away and is taken in by the Varia.
Keeping Your Character by Insanity-Red
OC's reincarnation was messed up. She ends up replacing Lambo and is aged up. Humorous, she torments Tsuna by being so blase about it all.
Don't Kiss and Tell by Luki Fanfic
Nana's family has a curse. They swap bodies with anyone they kiss. Kyoko and Tsuna take advantage of this at a young age. Great idea, both get to experience being a different gender (or rather, the expectations for boys and girls).
Generation Cross by Luki Fanfic
Ok, just read all the authors works. I hadn't realized how many of them I had saved. Tsuna dies and somehow wakes up in his mother's body with a 2 yr old him. First step, get a divorce.
Time Tourists by Caticature
Abandoned, but a great idea. Time travel to 1st Gen and they all look like kids. Misunderstandings ensue.
Harry's Housekeeping by Wolven Haven
HP/KHR Mistaken identity at the wrong/right time and place lead to Harry getting a cleaning job in the Mafia. Oh well, Harry's always been good at cleaning. P.S. Harry cleans up murder scenes! Not graphic. Timeline is during the forming of the Arcenbalenco. Skull is Teddy, who is superworried about his oblivious godfather.
Intuition Overdrive by vaporeanxglaceon
After Nono seals Tsuna's Flames, his Intuition goes into overdrive to compensate for the loss, leading to awake but catatonic boy. When Reborn arrives to turn Tsuna into the next boss, he needs to find a way to help Tsuna before anything else can happen. Iemitsu and Nana are parents who are trying their best but don't know what to do to help him. WiP, maybe abandoned. Such sweet Angst, though.
Red String by Lady Hallen
I think this one is on Ao3, too. HP/KHR FemHPxReborn Hyacinth(femHP) and Reborn have a meet cute and gets together. Super good, lots of chapters, WiP. I want to gush about it but I don't want to spoil it.
Fics by sakuradrmonalchemist
Their fics always have so much potential but seem to all be WiPs, keep that in mind. She has so many xover fics. For KHR, there are HP, YYH, Natsumes Book of Friends, BNHA, High School DxD, Sailor Moon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Batman, Tsukihime, Grimm, Kingdom Hearts, fate/stay night, Naruto, One Piece, Card Captor Sakura, Magical Girl Lyrical Nonoha and more!
Igneous by apathyinreverie
HP/KHR Harry/Reborn After Voldemort's defeat, Harry becomes involved in the Mafia, by being kidnapped/sold by his uncle. After a bad choice by others to have Harry recover under the safety of the Blood Wards (which no longer exist, you idiots), Harry's Flames are forcefully awakened and others try to force Flame Bonds on him. Reborn has a mission to find out if a Family knows how to forcefully activate Flames. He comes across a newly awakened, nearly naked, Sky that snap Bonds him. Very good, happens mostly in the HP world after that beginning, with future Arcabalenco popping up. Harry gets to pull off the We Are Not Amused Aura in Kingslys new MoM office with a dumbass Head Auror. It's beautiful.
Fortuna by 1458
In one world, Iemitsu left his family behind in Namimori. This is not that world. (Un)fortunately. Idiot dad Iemitsu who.... attempts to dad but has no clue how. Nana and Tsuna move to Italy with Iemitsu.
Of Organized Crime and Schizophrenia by AshGopal
Naruto/KHR Tsunade dies and expects to go to the Pure Lands. Instead, she's reborn a Mafia heiress who has a voice in her head. At least she's not alone. The Sannin are together once again. PS Ryohei and Mukuro are Sannin, too.
Not Quite Myths by Falia7
Tauna is Mythological Catnip. It starts with a unicorn and gets worse from there. Gokuderas in heaven, Reborn is ready to lose it, Tsuna is willfully ignoring everything. There's also a multinational cult in Tsunas honor.
No Ones Here to Sleep by mokona-pyuh
Naruto/KHR Skull is Gaara!Shukaku doesn't take kindly to being extracted from Gaara and yeets them into another world. Gaara is reborn with a giant Tanuki still hiding in his soul. Crackish.
Dusk to Dawn by reighost
HP/KHR Harry is reborn as Tsuna. Tsuna adpats to his new life and "Magic". Hopefully he can have a normal life. He makes friends with kid!Kyouya. Also Kyouya's family in this is amazing. If I ever write a fic with Kyouyas parents in, I'm going to beg reighost to let me play with them. Also, reighost is Araceil's amazing partner. They used to do a lot together. Dusk to Dawn is also a spinoff of one of Araceil's (deleted :'() fics.
Under Wing by reighost
HP/KHR After Sirius dies, Harry learns that he's not who he thinks. Desperate to escape dark!Dumbledore, he seeks out his birth family, the Hibaris. We get a peek at a few other fandoms on his way home. He's Kyouya's beloved baby brother in this.
Sincerely, Shattered Shards by You Light the Sky
Nana's family has a special gift. They can give pieces of their hearts away. But no one liked Tsuna's heart. Until Reborn came to town. WiP. Made me cry a bit.
The Final Boss by Sakura Hyuuga
Gamer!Tsuna, Accidental GenderBent!Tsuna! Tsuna's life becomes a game after a realistic dream where he hit yes to play. He thought it was just a dream when a prompt opened up saying only the female version was unlocked. When he woke up, it definitely wasn't a dream. She is not amused. Humor, WiP, funny 'omake' bits.
Of Steel, of Iron, of Stone by Seito
Warning:Angst, Terminal Illness. Tsuna claims he can't become Decimo. Reborn finds out why after a disastrous use of the Dying Will Bullet.
Burn Me with Fire by Shadowblayze
HP/KHR. After burning Quirrel to death, he starts dreaming of an angry man trapped in ice. With a mentor, Harry learns how to fly free. Blaise Zabini friendship
Trading Yesterday by Shadowblayze
HP/KHR With sequel, Stealing Tomorrow. Kawahira takes the Sky Pacifier after Luce's death and finds a new Sky to give it to. The remaining Arcobalenco panic and desperately try to find their new Sky. Meanwhile, 8 yr old Harry has been given the keys to his freedom, with one catch. He will die before his 30s.
Song of Truth and Light by TheSocialBookworm
Demigods are rare and feared. Someone so "No-Good" can't be one... right? Drabbles about Tsuna the hidden Demigod.
Xanxus' Babysitter by Starchains
HP/KHR. Harry ends up employed at Vongola Mansion and becomes Xanxus' personal servant. Harry refuses to let another old man's incompetence ruin a child. WiP
Kyoko by Discoabc
SI reborn as Kyoko. This is Not Ideal. Kyoko tries to get away from the future she know is waiting for r her. It goes... hrm. Well, it's certainly a different way to become part of the Underworld.
Oh wow babe thank you for these recs!!

The more I read your posts the more I wonder what the fresh hell happened in the Bleach fandom lol.
I wasn't a part of it back then, but when I witnessed the collective breakdown from shippers in an ending, to the point of burning their books, I don't think I want to know...
Alright for a very, verrrry basic breakdown of what essentially happened:
Bleach starts, Ichigo meets Rukia
Early 2000's, boy meets girl in shounen and they're bickering, instantly shipped
First two arcs of Bleach focus on Ichigo and Rukia's relationship (henceforth referred to as IR)
Anime overhypes IR, downplays Orihime - Ichigo's actual love interest - and her relationship with Ichigo (the ship of which henceforth referred to as IH)
Anime makes Orihime more ditzy and air-headed + ditzy and air-headed female character in the 2000's + "potential" "love rival" of IR (Orihime is the sole love interest for Ichigo and thus there literally isn't a rivalry but you get the idea) = Orihime becomes extremely hated, consequently making IH extremely hated
Renji and Rukia's relationship (henceforth called RR, though it's less relevant in general) isn't necessarily downplayed by the anime so much as it is mostly ignored by IR because Obviously Rukia Just See Renji As A Friend (spoiler: no she doesn't)
As the manga continues passed the Soul Society arc (also known as the Rescue Rukia arc) written IR interactions drop significantly as their relationship remains as Extremely Close Friends (but like, actually)
Anime still pushes IR anyway through filler arcs + continual erasure of Orihime's moments, now with added IR implications in canon moments (i.e., Nel getting jealous of Rukia and thinking she's in a relationship with Ichigo during the beginning of the Arrancar arc - doesn't happen in the manga). IR shippers start clinging to non-canon material such as colorspreads and merch, character poems are misinterpreted to be about IR when they're not ("I wonder, can I keep up with it? The speed of the world, without you in it?" is often mistakenly said to be about Ichigo towards Rukia, I do believe it's actually about Zangetsu - this specific one happens later on, but you get the general idea), etc. etc.
Fade to Black movie drops, becomes known as "the IR movie" - then the mangaka is said to have said that Ichigo and Rukia were "more than friends, less than lovers" which somehow translates to them being lovers despite IR shippers' own wonky translation saying otherwise (this one genuinely confuses me to this day lmao)
Cycle continues
BOOM Lust Arc, Ichigo dies trying to protect Orihime and is then subsequently revived into a Hollow by her desperate pleas to save her combining with his want to protect her, only to become human again once he successfully kills what was threatening Orihime (in his mind)
Omega IH moment
IR shippers fuckin' hated it, makes the Lust Arc = Fail essay to justify why the Lust Arc actually totally definitely doesn't mean anything and IR will still totally happen
By this point they've believed IR is "basically confirmed" and they go back to hating on IH
Cycle continues, anime is still hyping up IR, though I do believe by this point they stopped downplaying Orihime/IH at least somewhat
Then we do a hard cut to the Quincy arc
Ichigo and Rukia barely interact. Are barely in the same panel. Or on the same page. Or even in the same location. Like, for the majority of the last arc.
IH moments skyrocket, as well as RR moments skyrocketing
Most notable moments for both: Renji thanking Ichigo for bring him and Rukia back together from the bottom of his heart; Ichigo bringing Orihime to fight alongside him against the last arc's main villain, something Ichigo had never done before with anyone else
IR shippers haaaaaate it, deny that anything that happens between IH and RR mean anything since IR is such a shoe-in for canon
Cut to the ending of Bleach, IH and RR are endgame because fuckin' duh
Cue infamous shit-fest from IR shippers
In essence, the breakdown that came from the ending came from a loooooooong history of IR shippers taking extensive, all-expenses-paid trips up and down The Nile about anything and everything that was slowly building up between IH and RR. They (and, to be clear, I mean "they" as in the specific IR shippers who acted like this, not all IR shippers) would also act pretty damn entitled too - they'd chase the mangaka Tite Kubo off of Twitter twice if I remember right, just cuz he wouldn't fuckin' lie and say that IR would be canon.
None of this being at all helped by the anime shitting all over Orihime's character at the crucial beginning episodes of Bleach, with them completely butchering her literal first appearance ever into something that quite literally portrays her as feeling the exact opposite feelings for Ichigo than the manga shows her feeling (and with Ichigo seeming annoyed with her presence, which is where you get the whole "Ichigo doesn't even like Orihime!" take from).
So ultimately the years of IR shippers feeling as confident as they did about IR becoming canon, shitting on IH both as a ship independent from the shippers as a "crackship" and as something that is stupid of anyone to ship and thus any shipper of IH inherently invites ridicule (of which they did a lot of), ignoring all of the signs that IR wasn't gonna happen to the point of taking words from the mangaka that outright stated even in their translation of his words they were not lovers and somehow twisting that to mean that they definitely are lover, taking any development Ichigo had as a character and making it somehow someway all about how he is nothing without Rukia and only Rukia because only Rukia ever helped him because romantic love is the only thing that could ever save Ichigo and Ichigo would totally abandon his still-living friends and family in the World of the Living to be Rukia's lieutenant (hmmm where has this theme cropped up before) - all of that culminated into the absolute STATE they fell into when it was revealed that all of their excuses for their shitty behavior meant even less than they already did because their ship didn't even become canon at the end of the day. You both had to be there and be glad that you weren't there lmao

sometimes i wish bleach had gone a bit deeper with exploring karin’s character, bc i do wonder how/if her views on ghosts shifts, over time? like, to begin with, she wants nothing to do with them, and they are effectively, invisible to her because she can somehow pretty much deny their existence.
doesn’t quite seem to apply with hollows, (grand fisher, and the first hollow that caused ichigo and rukia to meet), but. at least it seems like from then on, she cannot turn away, if only because ichigo is involved, and she worries about him. but i still don’t know if she actually feels like acknowledging ghosts, from then on?
i think karin has to make up a frame of reference of her own, bc nobody tells her anything, but she can recognize the uniform that ichigo wears, that rukia wears, that toushirou wears, that she can safely go, oh they’re an ally. if they’re okay with ichigo, friends? or something like that, then that must mean that they’re okay in her books as well. so she can distinguish the difference between ghost, hollow, shinigami.
this is why her meeting toushirou is so interesting. it’s not quite ichigo&rukia take 2, but karin at that point, is more open to the idea of the supernatural. she’s gaining more awareness of the supernatural, and maybe she’s never that involved, but she’s still conscious of it. (maybe she can’t tell that kon-is-ichigo, but i bet she can sense that something is off, even if she can’t figure out what). it’s why their two episodes together are so cute, because both are kind of out of their comfort zones, but they’re still so sweet as burgeoning friends.
anyway, ichigo loses his powers, and during the timeskip, karin steps up. but how? i don’t see her fighting hollows, because ichigo’s friends have got that covered, tho i guess the super sentai thing with don kanonji could still be in effect, regardless if he’s in town or not; and karin does visit urahara’s shops, so maybe her and jinta talked something out.) so my best bet is that karin just... talked to ghosts. told people off and acted as a messenger for some ghosts, stuff that ichigo prolly did before the first chapter when ichigo met rukia happened.
karin steps up, because someone in the family has to. karin steps up, because she sees it as a way she can protect ichigo. it’s duty, rather than interest.
but after? after the thousand blood war. does karin go back to ignoring ghosts again? there’ll be less hollows about, thanks to aizen not needing to create them. shinigami should be good at their job, but there’ll probably always be a stray ghost wandering before a shinigami performs konsou. does karin pay attention to ghosts now that ichigo has his powers back and can see them again, or does she go back to ignoring them like before?
anyway, kind of want a future fic where karin is like. right, i want to get this supernatural stuff out of my system, convinces herself that it’ll happen symbolically, if she just has a one night stand with toushirou, and then they can go their separate ways, only for karin to try and move on, and realize that that damn kurosaki gene is kind of in her dna, (that desire to help people no matter what) and toushirou to realize that actually. he’s in love with her.

Bleach Anime Celebration 2022 - Day 1: The Rain
Tags: Uryu x OC, not in this fic though, this fic is just fluff and character interactions in the rain, set during the 17 month time skip after Hueco Mundo, no warnings, rating: g.
_________________
It wasn’t supposed to rain that day, and yet here he was stuck standing under an overhang watching it pour down, lest he go out and get soaked. Uryu wasn’t inclined to do that, particularly with his arm still bandaged, and so he was simply hoping it stopped soon because he didn’t want to be hanging around for hours. At least he was dry, unlike the people passing by on the street who were also unlucky enough to not have umbrellas.
As he watched, a familiar figure went by at a pace that could only be described as a scurry, with such a dismayed look on her face that he couldn’t help but call out to her.
“Rina!”
She practically skidded to a stop in the water coursing down the street as she did a double take, but once she’d caught her footing she moved to join him under the shelter of the overhang. Uryu stepped aside to give her more room and to give space for the puddle that was rapidly forming under her feet. She looked down at herself with a grimace, plucking at her shirt which was now clinging to her, so soaked with water it was now a darker brown than her eyes.
“Hey, fancy meeting you out here,” she commented, letting the plastic bag she was holding slide down to her elbow as she reached up to attempt to wring out her long, chestnut hair. It seemed like a lost cause to him, which she quickly realized for herself.
He shrugged slightly in response to her comment and the motion seemed to draw her attention to the bandages still wrapped around his left arm. Her brow furrowed ever so faintly as her gaze fell on them, her lips compressing. “Did you need-“ she started to ask, but he cut her off with a hasty denial that didn’t seem to reassure her at all. Both she and Orihime had tended to his wounds in Hueco Mundo, and while he felt fortunate to still have his arm and appreciated their help he felt like they had done enough.
“Okay, well, if you change your mind, that’s what I’m here for,” she replied, not doing a particularly good job of hiding her concern.
“The Soul Society didn’t send you just for me,” he said, a statement and not a question. Given how poorly the Soul Society looked after its own, he knew they wouldn’t send someone to look after a Quincy of all people.
“Sent is a strong word,” she replied, suddenly not meeting his gaze in favor of watching the rain as she fiddled idly with the handles of her bag. Now it was his turn to be concerned, for he’d seen first hand what happened to Soul Reapers who so much as appeared to shirk their orders or duties. The last thing any of them needed was another incident like they’d had with Rukia, especially with Ichigo currently not possessing his powers and his own promise to his father to not help the Soul Reapers. Truth be told, he probably shouldn’t have been speaking with her now, but he’d never really cared what his father thought.
“It’s fine,” she continued, as if sensing his worry, “they wanted someone from squad four to be available just in case…” She trailed off with her own slight shrug.
“Just in case a group of Arrancar came and started kidnapping people,” he suggested flatly, reaching up to push his glasses higher up on his face. Honestly, the number of times Orihime had been kidnapped in recent months…
Rina let out an amused huff as she smiled, “Precisely.”
“Well, it’ll be good to have you here,” he said without really thinking about it. It would be good to have a healer around, but he probably shouldn’t have admitted that fact. It wasn’t like he was planning on needing her help now that things were back to normal, even if he was seemingly the only one in Karakura Town who could be counted on to handle a Hollow whenever one showed up.
Her smile turned shy and she shook her head slightly. “You won’t need my help,” she said.
“I’m… not supposed to accept it anyway,” he admitted, wishing the note of petulance hadn’t worked its way into his voice. Her brow furrowed again as she tilted her head to the side, but he didn’t elaborate.
“Oh, well,” she said, her confusion seeming to clear suddenly, “please know that while I have great respect for your honor as a Quincy, my honor as a medic says I can’t just let you die.”
It was his turn to laugh, both out of amusement and relief that he didn’t have to explain himself. It was easier to let her believe that was the true reason why he was refusing her. She wasn’t entirely wrong, now that he thought about it…
“Noted,” he said before pointing at her bag, steering the conversation into more neutral waters. “I hope it’s nothing water soluble.”
“Oh no, it is!” she said with alarm, holding the bag open to peer inside. A collection of small paper bags was stacked inside, the top one of which was admittedly a bit damp on the side. Rina made a quiet tsking sound as she withdrew it and carefully unfolded the top. “Well, maybe… no, they definitely got wet,” she said, having reached in and pulled out a piece of hard candy. It was a small, yellow oval with a diamond pattern running across it, and a faint scent of lemon reached him from the open bag. “I hope Urahara isn’t too upset. The other bags look fine,” she said, attempting unsuccessfully to shake the drop off her fingers and back into the bag.
“Is he starting a candy store?” Uryu asked, unable to think of what else he could possibly want five bags of Sakura Drops for.
“No, he said something about an experiment and I decided not to ask,” she replied, finally giving up and sticking the flat of her finger in her mouth.
“Probably wise,” he commented, eliciting another amused huff from her as she inspected her hand for any residue.
“They still taste fine at least,” she said with a shrug, tilting the bag towards him in a silent offer. He hesitated for a moment before he decided it was probably fine and took a piece. Lemon wasn’t his favorite flavor, and he had to fight not to make a face at the bitterness of it.
Rina rolled up the bag and carefully put it back with the others, making sure the wet side was facing up. “If he says anything I’ll just tell him he should’ve gone to get them himself,” she commented, much to Uryu’s amusement as he couldn’t envision her talking back like that. “Oh, looks like the rain is stopping.”
It had indeed dwindled down to a light shower while they’d been talking, and even that seemed likely to stop entirely within the next few minutes. Rina’s hair had barely stopped dripping in the interim, and her shoes made a distinctive squishing sound as she shifted her weight forward to peer up at the sky, making him once again grateful that he’d been inside when the downpour had started.
They stood in companionable silence as they watched the rain peter to a stop, the sun almost making an appearance before being obscured again.
“I should get going,” she said softly. “It was good to see you though. If you change your mind about your arm, you know where to find me.”
She stepped back into the road and was gone before he could answer, leaving him with a faint smile and the taste of lemon on his tongue.

GrimmIchi (post epilogue): Includes some Anime characters and an original character of mine also using Anime terms. 24
Everyone begins doing there assignments while Taylor, Anthony, Ichigo, Grimmjow, Uryū and Brandan begin entering the hideout of Bǫlverkr
Meanwhile inside the hideout
Nobuo: Bǫlverkr my love, it appears we have intruders.
Bǫlverkr: So be it, let them come
Nobuo: Of course my love.
Meanwhile at the first room
Taylor: It’s strange, we should have encountered an enemy.
Just then a speaker system turned on and Bǫlverkr began speaking through it
Bǫlverkr: Nice to meet you, Head Captain Taylor, Squad 1 Lieutenant Ichigo Kurosaki, Anthony who is the fiancé to Head Captain Taylor, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, husband to Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryū Ishida, the current head Quincy since Yhwach’s death and Uryū’s fiancé Brandan.
Taylor: You know who we are and you aren’t sending your men after us?
Bǫlverkr: I have no desire to fight any of you, in fact this was all merely a test to see how you can plan as the Head Captain and you pass with flying colours, and before you ask I knew Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto before Yhwach killed him, and he told me to test anyone who succeeded Shunsui as Head Captain and I gotta say you pass with flying colours, Taylor, you expertly commanded all of the squads plus the Quincy and Arrancar plus made sure you had back up with you as you infiltrated this hideout, oh and before you ask all of the people I hired really were made to believe that I was some evil guy and I mean made since I artificially made them well except for Eiden and Nobuo, oh and if you are wondering what happened to Yoruichi, Suì-Fēng and the rest of the Stealth Force don’t worry, they are fine, I actually told them the truth behind this all and made them all lunch, some of the male Stealth Force members unfortunately won’t be returning to action anytime soon since they over did it.
Just then Suì-Fēng appeared on a separate speaker system
Suì-Fēng: Not to worry, as long as Lady Yoruichi is my girlfriend, I don’t intend to punish my family members for over doing it.
Yoruichi: Because she knows that I will punish her if she does.
Taylor: No need to say anymore, Yoruichi because even not hearing or seeing Suì-Fēng right now and can tell she is probably embarrassed that you said that to anyone, since despite not showing it, in public very often, she still has some of her traits from 120 years ago back during the Visored incident, which there is nothing wrong with, since I still have some of my childhood traits and I am 23 and all my childhood traits, that I still have are permanent and won’t ever leave me even though a handful embarrass me greatly.
Yoruichi: Oh I guess you are right since Suì-Fēng, just collapsed out of embarrassment which means I better get her to Isane, Kiyone or Orihime quickly otherwise she might die of embarrassment.
Taylor: Can she still swallow?
Yoruichi: Looks like it.
Taylor: Then quickly bring her here, before getting her to Isane, Kiyone or Orihime, since there is no clue she will make it that far without a pill I have.
Just then Yoruichi carrying Suì-Fēng’s limp body in her arms flash steps into the room
Taylor: Ok, this pill is designed to lower embarrassment levels enough that she regains consciousness and can be healed. he proceeds to drop the pill into Suì-Fēng's mouth while Yoruichi holds Suì-Fēng’s mouth opened There she’ll be able to make it to Isane, Kiyone and Orihime now since if you look, her breathing has regulated, and heart rate has returned to normal.
