thinking about the way that lingering after her leap of faith , kneeling with her hand outstretched for mono , was more of a reflexive impulse than a conscious choice . dimly six had recognised that she needed to catch her friend and help him , the way she had countless times before this . he'd jumped , and her hand had curled tightly around his . starved fingers snug and secure around his .

her heart was pounding so hard , it seemed to be physically hurting her chest . there was a dull ache burning there anyway - one that was burning more powerfully with every passing second . six's breaths were leaving her in short , sharp pants as she kneeled at the edge of this tremendous drop , gazing at the ground , unable to meet mono's gaze for a tremulous minute .

her music box . her recollection is hazy , the memories are not entirely clear . but she remembers the way mono brought down the hammer on it so brutally . the way it's comforting tune warbled brokenly , and finally stopped short altogether as the metal buckled under his weapon's impact .

every strike against it had wracked her with agony . unbeknownst to her , it had broken a beautiful spell ... a gentle trance that had finally pulled her out of this wretched world and allowed her to know comfort again , however false it might have been .

it could have been so perfect . he could have stayed with her . she wanted him to hear the gentle chimes too . there's another memory of moving closer to him when he arrived , joy surging through her at the familiar call of his voice . a recollection of showing him her treasured silver trinket , trusting him . they could have been safe there . they could have been happy . why did he ruin it ?

how could he smash it to pieces even as she had screamed for him to stop it !

her grasp had inadvertently loosened and her expression had contorted with hatred as she stewed on all that had unfolded . the little cry that mono let out shook her from the miserable flashback , and she musters the will to meet his eye at long last .

he has the audacity to look hopeful , beneath his anxiety . then - to look progressively confused . like he doesn't know what he did to her . blood boiling , eyes frenzied , a lump in her throat rapidly forming , she'd let her gaze bore into him .

his voice sounds faraway as he scrapes out a shaky plea . his fingernails are cutting stark red crescents into her hand as he desperately clutches her . it hurts . he hurts .

he's always been the one that hurts . there's no more bag to hide behind , and ... he looks just like ... !

revulsion . hate . terror . betrayal . heartbreak . the movement had to be swift and decisive - a girl hell bent on surviving this , on putting as much distance between herself and this boy as possible . she wrenched her hand free from his grip , shook him off . let him plummet .

then she rose to her feet , ignoring his deafening scream .

six dusted herself off , took a shaky breath as she turned on her heel . and she left him to his fate . didn't so much as glance back . hot , angry , miserable tears pricked at her eyes . she blinked them away .

First of all, I hope you know your AU is SO FCKING GOOD I CAN'T STOP HAVING HEADCANONS ABOUT IT (this happens to me when I fixate on something lol).

Anyways the one that I think about the most lately is Ian and Anthony writing songs by themselves during the hiatus. I don't know what their relationship is like in your AU, or whether they had good/bad breakup, but I like to think that they both wrote music that will never see the light of day out of embarrassment.

Some titles for Anthony:

Best Interviewer: about knowing how much he avoids talking and instead lets others do the talking

Birthday Card: about happy (now bittersweet) childhood memories

Quota of Self-Importance: reflecting on his selfishness towards his former friend and co-writer

Nostalgia: about looking back into his old songs and missing more than just the music

Magnifying Glass: sort of The Sun 2.0, although this one will be hidden even from Ian. For all the things that The Sun says (talking about Ian), Magnifying Glass talks about himself as the perfect antithesis, almost as a response to the other song, like two puzzle pieces.

Some titles for Ian:

Compartmentalize: about realizing how much he's hiding and keeping from everyone, even though on the outside he looks put-together

Where Are You: about missing someone. He thinks the song is way more subtle than it is

The President: about having to take control of everything in his professional and personal life now that isn't a part of a duo

Bummer: self-reflecting about the music he's doing on his own, melancholic and devoid of any beauty (or so he thinks)

[REDACTED]: an instrumental. Even he doesn't know what it is about. He just knows it gives him chills when he hears it, but he doesn't know why

Sorry about the rant lmao. I genuinely have an idea about the topic every song in their "Friendship Always Wins" album is, but of course, those are just a theory.

I have wayyy too many ideas for songs in their hiatus lol these are just the ones from the top of my head.

snail ur amazing, also yes i shall :)) im always happy to talk about them oh my godddd, some of this will be a mix of general thoughts and just convos me and Leo ( @lostforgottenspaces ) have had abt the crouch family, specifically for our fic SFTDWD (Sing For The Damage We've Done) be prepped for a long ass rant!!

anyways, i feel like people don't talk about their canonical story as much as they should because they're so interestingggg,

Snr being in the ministry and not w/ the deatheaters?? Barty getting involved with them through his time at hogwarts??? The trial flashback??? Bartys own trial??? Mrs. Crouch sacrificing herself for her son??? Snr openly hating his own son??? Snr locking Barty away for decades in his childhood home??? Barty killing Snr?? Barty going back to the deatheaters?? like helloooo????

the angst potential there is so good i wish people used it moreee,

in my mind i view their dynamic as; Snr meeting Bartys mom/Laura (I usually name her Laura so I'll probably just use that here) in Italy when they are young, probably around 18-19. Laura had been homeschooled as a witch there with her family, and she meets Snr and they actually have a very happy love story,

but as time goes on, Snr's drive for success within the ministry pulls the couple a part. Snr believes he knows Laura fully, and that she's an angel, which is not true! Laura is human person who makes mistakes, but Snr sees her as someone higher, so when she does makes mistakes he loses it. They have a child because of a societal expectations, Snr never wanted kids, he believes them having a child will only hold him back.

Barty is born, Snr doesn't pay him much mind, though he tries to get past his negative feelings to be a father to his son. He attempts to be a better father than his own father was to him, but as time goes on he starts to care less and less. I imagine something happens in the ministry, maybe he gets demoted, and he starts blaming Barty for those problems, as well as Laura too.

Barty attempts to get his fathers positive attention for most of his childhood, though he never gets it. His father uses curses on him, especially the imperius curse, to get him to leave Snr alone. Laura tries to get Snr to stop, because she loves Barty, but Snr won't.

Another thing I like to note is because of Snr's cruel treatment of his son, Barty is much closer with his mother. Though he, as well as Snr, start to see her in this perfect light, and is confused when she does something that is more siding with Snr than with Barty. I think it adds depth to the two of them, being similar like that, and it makes Laura quite the tragic character imo, so yk 🤭 i love tragedy

anywho, Barty isn't allowed to leave the house much as a child, his only way of refuge is books and studying, so thats what he does. He reads and takes notes, etc. This is one of the reasons why he decides to take on all of his OWLs when he's in Hogwarts.

id imagine Barty slowly gets involved with Deatheater stuff simply by association with his classmates, hearing them talk, being a part of things like that. He'll join the deatheaters with them, secretly.

when he turns 18 and graduates, he gets a job at the ministry per his fathers request, while still being in with the deatheaters. A year passes, and at only 19 he gets exposed during Karkaroff's trial, his father is shocked and so is his mother. During his own trial, (along with the Lestranges) he gets sentenced to Azkaban, both his mother and father are present.

his capture soon weakens Laura's health, and she becomes weak. She tells Snr her last request, which is to save her son from a life in Azkaban. Snr begrudgingly helps her with this, and she switches place with Barty. Barty resists at first, though his mother tells him everything will be okay, because his father will keep him safe. Laura doesn't know what Snr will do afterwards to keep Barty out of the Deatheaters and Voldemorts company.

Barty still remains a prisoner, although now one in his own home, his childhood home. He's barely 21 at the time, and he spends around a decade there. Snr mostly ignores him, only hearing of him from their house elf, Winky. She becomes Barty's caregiver, bringing him food and keeping him company. Barty would ask her for the current news, for books to keep him entertained, and simply just to be around. Though, Winky wasn't allowed to talk to him mostly, she would follow his requests, and would stay around sometimes.

Barty was the one to convince Winky to bring him to a quidditch match, she then convinced Snr, who begrudgingly accepted after being prodded quite a bit. Then...well yk most of the rest of the story, blah blah he escapes for a second, blah blah...yk the jist.

I also like to think that Barty talks to Moody while he's being held captive in the suitcase thingy. He doesn't have anyone else to talk to and he hasn't been out of captivity in a while, which is one of the reasons why people think Moody is acting so weird, as he's being freakishly antisocial and unaware of things. But Moody knows like a shit ton about Barty and his life, just because I think that would be fun lol,

Barty then kills his father finally in an act of revenge, something that had been replaying in his head for years...he'd been imagining that moment since forever. He finally kills the man who tormented him for his whole life, and he relishes in the fact of seeing that Snr is terrified of him now, bc finally Snr gets to feel the same way that he had made his son feel for Barty's entire life.

And then, Barty loses his soul from the dementors kiss, and he's all alone...yk i love that fact so much. Especially for those Slytherin Skittle fans, Barty dies last out of all of them, and he's all alone.

another thing id like to note is Barty's involvement with the deatheaters. I think that it was a mix of him being with the wrong crowd, as well as basically seeking them out. He's being abused and neglected by his father, and it causes him to act out more, and he finds these kids who are basically doing the same thing, so he joins them, and then follows them. He's just a child when he does, he's ignorant obviously, and i think that's what really gets to me about his character.

Barty is practically still a child when everything happens to him. He and a lot of the deatheater characters in the marauders era are just victims of being looped in as a child, if childhood ignorance and abuse. Even though the crouch family isn't involved in the deatheaters, Barty still seeks comfort in it because he can't find it anywhere else, which is just fkin heartbreakingggg,

i love this family so much, they're so goddamn interesting to me, i love barty angst and just his character in general, i would love to see more people explore it, and i will always continue to throw my bbg around like a ragdoll!!!

A lot of people have talked about it and Number of the Beast is very scary to me. I've already seen people do math about the probability but even without that just listening I was like.... isn't that way too likely??! The wording of it too is so. Like it's cool flavor but it's also really awful... "If you ever roll 3 sixes you are killed in a spectacular fashion and are claimed by whatever terrible power most interested in your soul [...]" Hm. I'm frankly not sure how I feel about it. I guess, like always, it would depend on the framing it's given but just on paper it feels bad to think about Clem getting them after they finally managed to break free. I'm not even a Figure-head like some of my mutuals but I really really want to see them continue on this path (pal31 note: I love the new "Using this new lease on life on violence would be a waste" hook. It reminds me of Valence.) ... Also. Well. Still thinking about Austin being like wow finally I have someone onscreen for Perennial to communicate to (that isn't Clem). I want that too...

I'm not 100% on Armour Astir rules still but does the Investigator as a support playbook not have a mech? They don't, right? (I do HAVE the book, but I haven't closely read it, mostly skimmed over moves.) Of course a class like this has different advantages and I'm loving the Investigator so far but I WILL just miss Keith mech combat. He's so good at making really effective characters, but I guess Phrygian was kind of a high point for that (one-shot kills, baby!!!!! god. Phrygian ruled).

Speaking of Keith characters. The bit to get in the bathroom felt so much like being stuck in a point & click adventure game and you look around and talk to the person there & try like 3 things that don't work & then you go oh RIGHT I have this tool I forgot about because I never used it before! So that was fun to me. God I just enjoy Eclectic so so much.

And I really loved Keith losing it at the fact that the first thing he did was stalk a guy & follow him into a bath room. On a whim. It's sooooooooo funny I love you Eclectic it makes perfect sense to me Leap would be like yeah I trust this guy to handle this & send him. It just paints a picture that I like looking at. A lot (pal31 note: And he IS competent he does his job he's just also a weirdo. Just like Leap...)

I'm a bit. Hm. Connadine? I guess I should wait to see how that develops but it's kind of like... I guess don't want Jack's cool guy to be no-sold (?). I don't even think that's something I need to worry about, because Austin just wouldn't do that, but it was a thought/feeling I had and I want to catalogue it at the very least.

EDIT: I don't think I took any notes on this but godddd the intro!!!! Who does it like Friends at the Table!!! Incredible work. I imagine it might've worked even better for ppl who hear that voice reguarly (I don't have tiktok & only watch ones on my dash basically). I also am... just kinda interested in the production/making of that tbh. I don't know how the tiktok thing works, but I know that with other voices like that it matters a lot how you type text because it can change intonation. And if it was put in as one text vs singular sentences, and if that changes anything? I mean it was edited for timing obviously, but I just wonder how much vs the initial input. Interesting to me.

Let's start with the Connadine business since that's what I ended on. It was good. I looooved the conversation on the rooftop. Eclectic's cracked face. Connadine's risk of "curious", Austin saying something like "it would be easier for him to not be curious about this person interrogating him". Likeeeee. OK. There was an energy. To me. There was. Which is just funny because it's never ever coming from Keith but his weirdguys are just so compelling to people around them aren't they... A SHORT ASIDE: read this good fanfic recently. grey to black by tenworms. And I already thought about ways synthetic beings can show intimacy or perform pleasure(...strange way to phrase it but it's what I've got rn) recently because I had Leap/Figure A on the brain for 4 days straight, just stuck up there (and it's a bit different there again because Leap is Equiaxed, right. And also I've developed specific opinions on their relationship or how they express it but anyways). All that to say idk what's up in that regard with Delegates, it may similar, it may even be a little weirder again because they're part Divine and maybe sometimes a little magic, but you know. At the very least. He COULD have fingered that old man ASIDE FINISHED Nevermind all that I read @/swallowtaileds post saying Eclectic should start a Gravity Clock with him and I would really love that! Great idea. He's got free spots anyways. Hopefully ensuring Connadine to show up again? Then again, he did sound like he thought it'd be best to get off-planet... Which doesn't necessarily mean /he/ plans to, but I would guess that was the case. I wouldn't want to see my replacement come in, but yknow. Hm!!!! Jack!!!!! (This is the second time in the past week a FatT episode has made me go "Jack!!!" in an incredulous tone. The first time was the introduction of the hole in Grandpa's Farm. Which is so concerning to me.)

It does feel kind of weird that the Paint Shop is just felled this uncerimonsoul unceremoniously (edit: I cant believe I forgot to fix that. This word has entirely too many vowels). Eclectic just did that... On his first mission out... and it wasn't even the mission he was on (!). And like, it makes sense for it to be that easy because it was literally planned and aided By the head of the Paint Shop. And I think this is something that will have the most interesting repercussions for the next faction game, and I have no doubt something really sick will come about with it. So while I don't really care for it now (funny factor aside. Love this for u Eclectic.) I'm taking it as a "wait and see" thing. Also like. What is Eclectic doing now. Like in this sortie? I guess he could keep investigating but he did already get some info.? And I don't know, but it doesn't extremely seem like the other side is gonna wrap up super quickly. I did just remember he still has like, all of his B-Plot points or whatever, so he should probably use those to help the rest of the crew, but also. I don't know it's like whatever happens he Already Basically Felled A Pillar (and Jade Kill most likely will do the actual felling, but come on).

Quick Gur mention: I cheered YES! out loud when Dre failed that roll (sorryyy) and then went Noooo..!!! a few minutes later when they rerolled and succeeded. Very funny for Gur to just pop in going "You can't simply leap into holes!!!" I love him soooo much. I'm back to hoping for Figure to fail rolls, and honestly it's bad for them to roll too well anyways, so really. Who's to say if that's bad or good.

And just bc of my recent Integrity post I have got to mention this: a scepter huh!!! A scepter! Just after losing(?) Dahlia, a ruler twice-over. Something to be held, or wielded. Something no longer in connection with its pilot! This Integrity does not demand intimacy. Or it won't have it, not from these people (reading @/madetolooklikeus' posts earlier)... I still have my thoughts on what I think is interesting to happen to/with Integrity but they have shifted substantially. I am sitting and stapling my fingers like that one guy and having thoughts...! HM!

New hooks and gravity clocks are over both these episodes so I'll just put it here. I already mentioned Figure's new hook above, and I really like it. And not to just repeat myself, but it DOES remind me of Valence. This would be an outlook they had. They could've said something like that. It is also just a direction many Dre characters go to, I think, but of course Valence stands out with the direct connection to this season via the last, and also of course to Brnine. (I know people always go on about character haunting a narrative and sometimes it's like nah that guy just died but Valence Truly For Real IS.) Speaking of Brnine. "I'm living on borrowed time, keep up their fight." is crazyyyyyy Brnineeeeee with the survivors guilt!!! Oh it's yummy. To me. It was a bit funny to me when they were like oh is that a plural they? and had a little hehe about it because I straight-up had not thought that it wasn't. ...It's of course very fun and tragic and sexy for it to be about just Valence but I WOULD like it to be about Phrygian and S.I. and other people they've had to leave behind too. I think that can both be true though too with the way Brnine avoids to even think of them(Valence). God. Living on borrowed time... I forget who said it, Dre or Ali, but it really does play nicely with Figures new hook. OH and then with the new Thisbe clock for Brnine!!!! Augh!!! "Brnine is capable but brittle. Their success and survival is the only way forward." Oh... and I wonder how Ali will word Brnines new clock for Thisbe on the other side. It's so interesting in the way she talked about it, how that relationship might differ now. I need it I want it to turn around in my head. God these two are truly just so. I will never ever forget about "Operant Broun lies to me because they believe I am a person." Janine is just so good at this.

Okay so transcended Noviel Au, but canon compliant- so now we know how exactly the novel's gonna go from here, let's assume that Noviel will appear maybe around after they tame the bone dragon(just after Javier becomes a grandmaster) but before they go to hell, so we can have a "friendly" competition between Noviel and Javier lmaooo????(Javier lowkey being more aggressive than normal bc yessss)

And at the same time, lie about the fact he got almost all his ideas from mr "knight of blood and iron" to everyone at the estate, and everyone Lloyd befriended lowkey had a dejavu meeting Noviel with Noviel being shocked about how everyone he knew in the og novel just being conglomerated in the frontera estate(the elves he made ellencia armor with, the dragon he maimed(that's still alive???) Sir Blank(who's also alive) and non-evil Alicia???) got tumblr again just because I have thoughts abt barbie movie. gonna be super messy but I gotta get all my thoughts out. spoilers spoilers spoilers you've been warned watch the movie before reading this

also I talk abt women and girls a lot but like gender complicated some of it also relates to any afab ppl, some of it to anyone feminine, so keep that in mind reading it

it was fun it was entertaining it was visually super well done (the sets and the costumes oh my godddd) and yet I am SO CONFUSED

okay okay so like there were just so many things crammed in, so many plot points and like so many ideas and so much POTENTIAL and I liked the setup they had for so much of it but it never felt fully expanded on!! I honestly would've watched ten hours of this movie if only😭😭

stereotypical barbie, her journey throughout the movie could definitely be seen as a story about a young girl growing up and seeing what the world is like. she starts out in "barbieland", where everything is a perfect fantasy and life is beautiful and fun and thst could all be seen as like childhood. and then as she starts "malfunctioning" and eventually sees the real world, that's her starting to grow up, and her at the end choosing to be human and live in the real world is like her becoming an adult.

I'm not sure how I feel abt this way of seeing the movie?? like it's kind of cool, since that is what a lot of girls go through growing up. I heard when I was a kid that things used to be bad for women, but now it's all getting better and women can be whatever they want to be and blah blah blah. then you grow up and realize it's not true, that things haven't changed much.

and barbie being a person who sees the real world and decides she wants to live in the real world as a real woman is kinda cool, it's definitely got some beautiful synbolism abt growing up and living in the world proudly as a woman despite misogyny

on the other hand, I don't know if that's really an applicable journey for barbie herself. there was this suggestion throughout the movie that barbie was "an idea". idk if I like the movies ending, that barbie becomes human and like... isn't barbie anymore?? it just felt kind of strange and out of nowhere to me

I think if they'd made the themes of her "growing up" more explicit, then her leaving barbieland at the end would make more sense, but there's kind of a tension between her being an idea and a concept versus a person with agency, like within the reality of the movie. I made another long post abt the lore of barbieland but the summary is that it's like a magic idea space where mattel products are created. so it's kinda weird to have stereotypical barbie fully choosing to leave that world. the concept of barbie like deciding not to be barbie anymore kinda sucks, because she is THE stereotypical barbie, and her leaving barbieland would imply that they like aren't making any stereotypical barbies anymore?? which I don't think is what the movie meant to imply but like ahhhhhhh

also idk what I would've preferred the ending be, it rlly depends on what the focus of the rest of the movie was, cuz if I could change things abt this movie I'd have way more focus on a few points and one or two subplots rather than what the movie was actually about

so there were (basically) three subplots they were working with: Gloria and Sasha, the Mattel ceos, and the kens. it felt like too much time was split between them all and there was never a satisfying conclusion from any of it. I feel like each of those plot points could've done more and could've communicated a particular theme

the themes I think they were trying to communicate were:

1. basically being a woman is hard - and being a woman is contradictory and difficult, women shouldn't have to be perfect and they're held to too high a standard, growing up and learning abt misogyny is hard, patriarchy is bad and it exists in lots of ways in the world

2. gender equality - women shouldn't be an idea or an object their ideas should be valued and they should be subjects, womens stories should be told, women should be in positions of power as much as men, feminine interests and aesthetics are as important as masculine ones (not rlly one the movie explicitly made but probably the most important one imo, like look at the movie)

3. men?? - men shouldn't be entitled to women, men shouldn't define themselves by their relationships, patriarchy hurts men

personally I wish the movie had focused less on the kens and men in general cuz I wanted this to be as much as possible an unapologetically feminine movie and as focused on female characters as possible, but if they were gonna focus on that i have some ideas abt how they could've done it differently.

personally, I also hoped it would have more focus on queerness, on how boys are discouraged from playing with barbie and by extention some theme of like femininity isn't just for girls, but honestly it already had way too many themes it was trying to address and I'm asking for too much here, would've been cool but it's okay that there were only small nods to queerness. at least there was earring ken, weird barbie and allen

so I think it would've been rlly lame if the Mattel corporation was the main subplot focus. maybe barbie meets Gloria and gets to actually see what her life is like in the workplace. maybe at the end she or Gloria or both work as higher ups in the company and get to be a part of making new barbie ideas. idk honestly, I think having them as a small part of the movie was ideal and they could've been an even smaller part.

Gloria and Sasha should've been the main focus of the movie imo. they both could've been such compelling characters if they'd had more screentime and they could show two completely different perspectives on barbie. more couldve been shown of glorias life cuz we don't rlly know much about her and I wish we did. it's never rlly shown why Sasha stops hating barbie by the end of the movie, it's kinda just brushed over; maybe she could've been shown to realize that even tho barbie can promote negative body image stereotypes and is owned by a massive corporation and encourages consumerism, she also means a lot to a lot of women and the stories and love they have for her means something despite everything wrong with her. and her mom was the perfect example of this!! and I think this is what the movie was going for and I wish this had just been made more of a focus!! and the relationship between Gloria and Sasha definitely definitely should've gotten more attention, they're shown to be distant at the beginning and it's changed by the end, but WHY!! why is Sasha distant at the beginning, why are her and Gloria closer by the end?? it would've been a great thing to actually explore it, maybe to show how playing with barbie used to bring them together or how Sasha realizes all the stuff she's realizing abt the world, how it's misogynistic and messed up, her mom already knows and she's not ignoring it she's just learned how to live with it. god that could've been such a beautiful point to make a scene with Sasha and Gloria connecting and learning to understand each other would've made this movie for me honestly. and maybe barbies ending is she chooses to stay in barbieland and keep being an idea that celebrates femininity, maybe her ending is she realizes that's the good she's doing for people when she sees Gloria and Sasha realize that too

the kens are interesting cuz I get why they're in the movie and I like 50 percent get the point they're making but I could've done with way less of them or more of them. the plot line abt Ken bringing patriarchy to barbieland wasn't my favorite and if it hadn't been there and there'd been more time for Gloria and Sasha I'd be happy. at the same time I wish they'd gotten more into patriarchy and how it affects men, or how being dependent on someone affects you, or how feeling like you need to be dating a woman is harmful to men and to women. personally, I would've been absolutely obsessed if Ken went to the real world, saw how patriarchy existed, thought it was cool, and then saw how it negatively affected women - specifically, saw how it made women think they needed men to be whole and how women were often only portrayed in stories as love interests. and he saw himself in that, and maybe even bonded with some woman in particular who was also dependent on a partner or felt like she needed a partner, and that was what inspired him to be separate from barbie and wear his "I am kenough" hoodie and all that good shit. I'm biased cuz I saw Ken and I was like ooooh a storyline abt dependency?? hell yea and I wish that had gotten more emphasis honestly. or maybe ken couldve seen how in the real world women are harmed by being excluded from "masculine" stuff and he couldve gone back to barbieland and made the kens realize what they really wanted was to be included in feminine stuff, not to be left out of girls nights and dances and everything, i think that couldve made a rlly interesting subplot. ultimately I don't hate the Ken story we got, I just feel like it could've been a lot of different things and I kinda wish if it was gonna be a focus that they'd done it a little differently.

in conclusion I loved this movie and it had a lot going for it, but it was also kinda confusing and messy and packed with ideas. I can't blame it for being messy and complicated cuz gender is messy and complicated and they couldnt possibly address everything. instead i wish it'd been a little more focused, given a little more attention to some of the ideas, made it's points a little more clear. but whatever, it's still great and has so much raw potential and so many ideas that ik people are gonna have so much fun expanding on those ideas and interpreting it all and that's beautiful

But ough imagine how the League felt after Iris left to watch N vs Hilbert/ran away, cause she disappeared after the biggest battle between Team Plasma vs The Unova League. And they all got separated from each other during the fight, but they regrouped after Hilbert defeated Ghetsis all with various injuries, some worse than others. But imagine Drayden panicking because no one had seen Iris since the beginning of the battle and now she’s missing + possibility injured. If they really think about it, Team Plasma was going for the kill, not just to defeat their Pokémon but they were also commanding their Pokémon to attack the Gym Leaders. Imagine people start thinking that Team Plasma succeed in killing one Gym Leader

Unless of course Hilbert saw Iris with N and Ghetsis, then he’d probably tell Alder or someone that he saw Iris working with Ghetsis

But yeah like Iris fr still had a deep fear of her dad cause she immediately thought she’d get beaten or something when he found her, but he just said how he missed her and how she has a dragon of her own now. One much more powerful than any dragon N could have awoken

And now Iris will truly be the Queen of Team Plasma, how she and Kyurem will take down the League and become the Champion N failed to be

There's this deep and primal rage within me when I think abt Ghetsis hurting Iris and N, like, my guy, what in the fuck are you doing cjmdndmd like idk do you know that one comic back then where N was forced to watch someone kill a Purrloin, and there's like a grunt telling Ghetsis that this was wrong, that N was just a child, but Ghetsis insisted that N watches, to know just how fucked up humans can get. Fucking imagine that w Iris too tho ncmxnx like homegirl was forced to watch how some humans mistreat baby Dragon Pokémon, how some would force them to evolve earlier than most so they could get a powerful Dragon, and Iris was more stubborn than N. She didn't want to watch those, didn't wanna hear her friends crying for mercy then given none, but Ghetsis did not like that, and punished her instead.

But also Drayden thinking that Iris is dead😭😭 like your honour pls she is his granddaughter now nothing will ever change that and imagine if he's so adamant that Iris isn't really dead. Imagine Drayden really begging for Hilbert to look for Iris too tho, that Hilbert finds her along w N, please, just he just wants her back home. And ofc, Hilbert promised he'd look for Iris too, compared to N, he and Iris were much closer as they found immediately a common ground between them.

And Iris is there w Ghetsis now, he found her before Hilbert or N could, and god he's not gonna fail again. Grooming Iris once more to be the perfect leader of Neo Plasma, engraving in her mind that they will rule over Unova, that she's the most powerful trainer in the region.

And all was going well for Ghetsis yknow, he finally had Iris back and instead of being a failure like N, but Kyurem never liked Ghetsis. He doesn't like the way he treats Iris. Doesn't like the way he has that device in his cane to make Kyurem kneel to him instead. He fucking hated Ghetsis w all that he is. And so he told his beloved trainer.

Iris at first didn't believe it, sure her father had some off days but.. but he couldn't be that bad, right..? Then again, she was never fond of the way he shows that he cares, never fond of the punishments, never fond of his love that he apparently has for her and for her brother. When Kyurem told her abt it time and time again, Iris began to believe she really has to do smth. Ofc, Kyurem encouraged her, what kind of pkmn would he be, his trainer had always been there for him, time to return the favour. So he tells Iris that she really is more powerful than Ghetsis, that she could rule Plasma and Unova without his help, he was just a bridge she has to cross and burn the moment she gets to the other side. Ghetsis was just standing in her way, and she has to get rid of him.

God imagine tho right midpoint of their plan, Ghetsis was monologuing again, going on how it's going perfectly, that N finally left and Hilbert was nowhere to be seen. But Iris,, well,, the Shadow Triad was loyal to her yknow, more so than they were to Ghetsis, so they helped her w her lil plan. They broke that device in Ghetsis' cane, but not obvious enough that he'd figure out it's broken. Kyurem was finally free from his control, and Iris finally the one who can command him again. And god just bcmdbd

Imagine right after they attacked Opelucid (imagine that's really the final straw for Iris tho bc she saw Drayden getting hurt, w Kyurem's ice no less, she felt like shit and Kyurem had to tell her it was part of the plan so Ghetsis wouldn't be suspicious, and she knows that, but Kyurem knows how much it hurts his trainer), and Ghetsis was so fucking proud of himself that his own plan was going well. Imagine tho at the frigate, when he went to Kyurem's chamber he sees Iris there, and he's going on how proud he was of her for finding Kyurem, making Plasma even more powerful than before.

But like, imagine if Iris' back was facing him tho, and she just slowly turns around to face him. Her look almost felt empty, devoid of any emotion, and Ghetsis would be lying if he says it didn't freak him out a bit. Then Iris smiled at him, "you're right, father.. it's going well. But.. Kyurem doesn't really.. like you." Just as she said that, Kyurem was released from its own prison, stepping out of it and standing next to Iris, eyes fixated on Ghetsis. "We decided that maybe it would be for the best you'd just.. well.. how do I put this delicately.. I think it would be best if you die."

Ghetsis finally met his fate at the sharp ice of Kyurem's Glaciate impaling him.

❧ it doesn't quite matter what your profession is—if you're an idol from a rival agency, or another up-and-coming model, or both! izumi initially hates your guts either way. especially if you're the latter—are you trying to outdo him? hah, fat chance. there's an undeniable air of tension around you two whenever you happen to be in the same room together, whether you return his feelings of animosity with your own, or with cool indifference.

❧ of course, all of izumi's ire is very much a private matter. as far as the public is concerned, you two are just rivals in the entertainment world! the tabloids are absolutely brimming with the latest "gossip" about the two of you—did you hear about the incident at the latest photoshoot? the challenging little smiles they both threw at the camera at their latest lives? it irks izumi to no end that your names are always beside each other in entertainment headlines—but on talk shows and interviews he always just smiles, too tense and with too much teeth.

❧ everyone from knights is well aware of who you are by now—with how much izumi complains about you, how could they not? he (uncharacteristically) drags his feet to a job whenever you're involved, but the whole time he's enthusiastic in a way that seems a little different from competitiveness... especially as you two work together more, he goes from dismissive and scathing to, well, mostly the same, but he's nicer about it. a little. he'll scold you for your poor form and show you how it's really done, but he'll go through the effort of saying you did a good job today on the walk back to the station.

❧ it's something that seems like the start of a not-quite-friendship, actually! you seem to work better together, almost, and the "playful banter" between you two in interviews and talk shows seems more natural. he denies it so vehemently that it's rather funny, though, and izumi absolutely hates when you tease him for it—what's wrong, sena? don't tell me you've finally fallen for my charms? he denies it within an inch of his life, but there's a part of him in the back of his mind that finds it rather cute, the way you say that.

❧ needless to say, izumi doesn't often listen to voices in the back of his mind.

❧ the actual "-to lovers" part of your relationship is rather...anticlimactic, to be honest. you could be hanging out in a changing room between shoots, or in some half-empty cafe, or on the way back to your house after izumi offered to walk you home. (because he didn't want you doing something dumb and getting yourself hurt, of course.) he's been almost suspiciously nice to you, lately, to the point that even he's aware of it now—and he can't help the heavy sigh that leaves him when you happen to ask why. izumi's retort of, "can't i just do something nice for you?" dies quickly on his tongue when you remark about how he used to absolutely loathe you when you first met.

❧ but you suppose it isn't so bad, you continue, that he seems to hate you much less, now. another remark about him falling for you, another nudge of your shoulder against his, and izumi is nothing short of mortified once he processes the words he blurts out next: "are you really so dense that you haven't noticed that i l—that i don't hate you?"

❧ (the way you gape at him makes him almost feel better about himself.)

my fucked up twisted cyclepath genshin confession is that i kind of hate whales. they really do make the gacha part look like it doesn't require a shitton of grinding, encourage normie f2p/welkin only people to pull for "whoever they wanna" as if planning around the banner schedule isn't a thing, act as if anyone can 36* every abyss rotation and if you can't you probably don't put enough effort into the game or smthn, and let mhy get away with insane shit like the top up prices and character kits that don't have any flexibility without a certain 5* weapon/constellation/a specific c6 support bc "what did u expect from the game without spending". also imo at some point it just becomes unhealthy, like occasionally dropping 100$ on your 2d fave i can excuse but the people who drop 5k$ to get everyone's c6? and their weapons? no way this is healthy and idc how hard the community will try to convince me otherwise bc "its their disposable income 🥺". disposable income my ass please touch some grass ASAP

i completely get this. i think there are a ton of genshin content creators who act as if they haven't got C6 R5 everything on their account and some of their "advice" can fall really flat. I stick to at least the realistic creators who make sure to remind everyone that they do "reinvest" their creator money back into the game for content sake, and that not everyone has the means and shouldn't pull at the rate they do. Then there are the whales that act like certain aspects of the game arent against f2p and low spenders, such as spiral abyss at times. Many would be like "you just don't have the right team comps or rotations" and it's like yes i fucking know that, cause this abyss is to make you want to pull the current banner characters and im not gonna. Or how most non-whales don't have perfect artifact sets for everyone, are still grinding artifacts and talents, and again, cannot always pull on the "meta" characters or don't like the meta characters.

oh my god this just reminded me of a recent co op experience where some whale let me into their world kept talking about their C6s and decided to look at my character showcase and completely unwantedly started asking me if i was "having trouble" building my characters. i was like oh my godddd shut up you have C6 5 stars i do not want you to tell me, a low spender, how to play this game thats super timed gated and grindy. i can literally get like a max 10 new artifacts a day, and most of them end up being dogshit, like im so sorry genshin hasn't blessed me w amazing 4 piece artifact sets on all my characters :/

Hmmm, this is much tougher because my taste in music is so scatter shot it's hard to say what music I've been listneing to "this year" cause like I'll get reobsessed with a song I listened to 20 years ago for 2 days and forget it exists.

"Listen!!!!" by Aly and Aj. The whole album blows me away but this song has such a bittersweet quality while still being energetic. I really wanna blare this song while driving on a warm but windy day

"Baby Don't Play" by Wonder Girls. Kpop song with beautiful, full vocals. I love when there are songs that make you want to dance while also like clutching your chest because the lyrics/vocals. Great use of bass and synth.

"Anthonio (Designer Drugs Remix)" by Annie. This is like THE most generic blond girl europop (if you know waht I mean) and that's what makes it so fucking GOOD. "Everblue" by Omoinotake. It's the Blue Period OP and it's soooo jazzy and smooth. Again, upbeat music meets a bit of sadder, nostalgic lyrics and it's just... so fucking good. Makes you feel like you're in a movie where you're running through the rain as the sun slowly breaks through the clouds.

"All my Friends" Madeon. Idk. It's electropop... it's a madeon song. The energy and BPM are great to exercising too. Like... yesss make me move on that elliptical thank you Madeon. Again, sometimes music that follows all the genre conventions are exactly what you need. Like yesss milk that formula and dont even try to perfect it!

"All Night" by Bree Runway. Godddd, this song is so sensual. I feel like sometimes sensual songs can get boring and repetitive but this song just continually draws you in and shakes you up a bit.

"Nuclear Seasons" by Charli XCX. I listened to this song obsessively when it first came out, dropped it for years because I acutally hated a lot of Charli's pop music, but this song fucks. It feels like if Birthday Massacre did more pop vibes. The dark vibes with the fresh chorus and tinkling bells. I'm glad Crash made me revisit Charli songs I actually liked because this has stood the test of time.

Talking about throwbacks... have y'all listened to Aaliyah's "Are You that Somebody recently?" Sound of the summer babes

"Password" by Shinee. I just realized this list was lacking kpop which is INSANE (but okay this is a Japanese song by a kpop group but please let me have this). Anyways this is THE most cinematic, dramatic song of all time. It starts off intensely and racks up even more intensity as it goes on, AYYYYYYY OOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOoooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCK THIS SONG IS SO FUCKIN GGOOD genuinely top ten of my entire life. "let's go where??" Mädch asked, still following her best friend.

"to have a good night" Changkyun replied, walking to his car. He had a specific plan in mind, but she had no idea. At least not yet.

"its 3AM..." she said, still getting in the car, trusting him to death. They've known each other for a while now, but it felt like forever for both of them. The way they clicked was magical, it felt right, it felt like home.

Changkyun started driving, playing one of his favorite slow R&B playlists. Mädch looked out of the window with a smile, hearing his soft voice mumbling the song while focusing on driving.

The trip didn't last long, but it was long enough for her to daydream on her future which was still, somehow, with him.

"Here we are" Changkyun said softly, almost not wanting to disturb her dream, while parking the car.

When Mädch got out, a strong smell of roses reached her nose directly, surprising her.

"follow me" he said, walking towards darkness. She directly followed him, not wanting to get lost or to be alone in that moment.

After walking through some trees and bushes, the two reached an open spot, lighted only by the moon. Changkyun fixed a blanket on the grass, surprising the girl.

"when did you.."

"you were too lost in roses" he softly giggled, knowing what she was wondering already.

Both lied down in the blanket and looked at the sky. The moon was bright and only some clouds were covering the wonderful stars that were visible only from that place. Being so close, Mädch could only smell his lavender scent instead of roses. The smell of home.

The two stayed silent for a bit, admiring the wonder in front of them, enjoy each other's silence.

"you make me happy" he then mumbled softly. He rarely used to express his feelings to her, but she was used to it, knowing he'd rather show it in other ways.

"you make me happy too" she answered shyly, looking softly at him.

In the middle of that field surrounded by roses, during a cozy summer night, he turned to her before saying something that he never said before and she would never forget.
