#prince's talk tag #ren dont look #this took so long to go through and sort aaaaaaa my back hurts lolol #man i bought A LOT #i gotta wait for tomorrow for my presentation book to come in so i can put the posters in them #the stickers i can put in my sticker book #as for the charms and buttons i can put some up but not all i dont have a lot of room oops #anyway!! no con makes me wanna spend so much money quite like anyc #ive been to a few different cons in my time but this one takes the cake the artists and vendors are perfection #there was a rally for b/aldurs g/ate where you visited participating booths and either rolled a 20 with a d20 #or bought 10 bucks worth of stuff from each booth to collect stamps #then youd bring it to the last booth to get a prize which was some prints and sticker sheet which you can see on the top row in the 2nd pic #as well as a sticker sheet in the top left of the same pic #and since this game is my current obsession and by extension the vampire in the game i had no problem getting the stamps by spending money #i bought so much of my boy and this wasnt even all they had of him but it was a good chunk #i also bought a bunch of ge/nshin stuff specifically d/iluc bc hes my fave when i was playing a lot and there was an artist who had so much #of him available for sale and he looked so good in their style so i had to #the pic with the flamingo fidget toy i got from the p/r/s/k meetup!! the host gave out little goodie bags as thanks for coming #she was dressed as h/onami which is why the card has her on it #the pic with the cookbook was by an artist ive seen a few times and would buy recipe prints from (the back of the prints has the recipe) #so when i saw they had a cookbook now i had to get it!! its so cute!! #I also bought a bunch of dice bc i love dice and i was with two people who play a lot of d/n/d and enabled me lolol #i havent played in a while but they invited to play sometime and i do wanna join!! so why not #hard to take good pics of the dice tho i get what the sales person at e/verythingd/ice was saying #speaking of: shoutout to that sales person for hustling to get us to spend so much. they are good at what they do. im not even mad #they werent mean or anything but they had a job to do and did it well #the stone dice on the black box was from a different company but i saw those dice and knew i had to get them. they called to me #havent had dice do that since i bought a set at a card shop in italy #the p/ersona tote i got from a booth that had a persona themed pc and you had to take a pic of the display and tweet it to get the bag #we tried saturday but they ran out fast so we had to run to the booth sunday to get it

still 5 boxes to go - looks like my becky chambers, murderbot, and my dark is rising box set should be in there, plus a bunch of mysteries, but this is more representative (except don't judge me by the donaldson those were a gift from my aunt & uncle. also yes that is a duplicate grimm's bc it was like a dollar ok, i might want to give it to someone)

then i'll just have the boxes of my dad's books!

#and then in order to have them match i will have to move a living room one to the bedroom #and then flip the other living room ones so that the new one and the only slightly less new one make a bookend type situation #bc that's the only way i can think of to get the heights and shelves matched up and it's been bugging me anyway #but it involves even more book shuffling plus probably blisters again #and it STILL won't be enough shelves even if i chunk everything on the 'not a lot of love' table right out #like seriously all my paperbacks are still mostly double-stacked which is okay #but i REALLY WANTED to see all my books spined out please tell me if there are tricks i'm missing if you have tips #because i cannot justify like four more bookshelves - one will be a lot if i go for it - but it seems like that's what it would take #this is nuts how do bookshelves hold so few books? i can't even fit all my liaden books in one shelf #just organizing my fave authors together takes like two entire bookshelves and that's not even getting to the mysteries #then i have the sff favorites that have pride of place and NEED to be in the bedroom plus the shelf of 'kid books' #and that's not even counting the memorabilia stuff like the doctor who and robotech stuff #and actual books from when i was a kid that have sentimental value - like my rule is if i've reada book more than a dozen times #i am not getting rid of it no matter how it's falling apart especially bc so many are out of print #me still trying to find john verney books whenever i have a chance bc i only have the first two of the february series #which ... my february paperback better be in those boxes too >_>

Chiho Saito’s 1999 Revolutionary Girl Utena Original Illustration Collection

IT’S HERE. IT’S DONE. IT’S FINISHED. NOW…IT’S YOURS. Happy Holidays, my friends.

Vanna here! I have posted some already about this project, and the responses I got, public and otherwise, have been absolutely incredible. Y’all have been reblogging and hyping this before it even finished…I haven’t felt so encouraged about an Utena project since the musicals! (Yes, streams soon, I promise.) You can read the other post to get more details, and catch my post here with more details about the process if you’re interested. The long and short of it?

This is the first artbook I ever scanned. I did it in 2001. In Photoshop, using multiple scans per page that took hours to process. But it was 2001. A half megabyte file that was 1250px wide was considered extremely hardcore and impressive. That’s just always been the business I’m in when it comes to Utena art, you know? 

It’s now the latest artbook I’ve scanned, and so much of the process, and effort involved, is unchanged. What has changed, is the result. Welcome to your new desktop background. Your new phone background. Your new poster print. 

What I’ve done here is attempt to create definitive digitized images of Chiho Saito’s work as offered by this book--I have removed the print moiré of the original scans, and used my literal decades of experience to try and tease out as much information from them as possible. Without being physically in front of the original artwork (which is a thing I’ve had the great fortune to get to do) this is The Most Chiho Saito you are ever going to get. I’ve tried my best to make sure there is a way to get it that works for everyone:

I am genuinely really proud of this work.** I was able to tease out so much new detail from these…her incredible layering techniques, the faintest brush of her highlights, and the full range of her delicate hand at whites and blacks… details commonly lost in digitization. I sincerely hope you find something here that you’re looking for, as an artist looking for inspiration, as a weeb looking for a desktop, as an archiver excited to see incredible 90s manga artwork saved forever in the digital realm. I have a confession. This artbook was my ‘side project’ as I worked on this, *the main project.* For a couple years I’ve been banging around with a new domain, and originally I had other plans for it, but Elon Musk ruined my Twitter and Discord is well along on its way to enshittification, and well….we joke on the Discord a lot about ‘reject modernity, embrace forums’ and you know what? We’re right. So Yasha and I are putting our money where our mouths are once again, and doing something insane. We are launching, in 2023, a website forum. Obviously, this is not the official ‘launch’ per se, but I cannot announce the artbook without directing you to the forum, since it sits on the attached very cool gallery system. Oops! Told on myself. Another post more focused on the forum will be forthcoming, but if you are just that motivated to get in right away, you absolutely can! (This will help stagger new arrivals anyway, which is good for us!) If you would rather wait for the ‘official’ launch, by all means that’s coming, including a lengthy screed about how and why we’re doing this. In either case, remember: this is a couple weebs trying to make internet magic happen, we are not website developers by trade. Give us grace as we iron things out and grow into this cool new website thingie…hopefully along with some of you! :D
