a/n- am i back? not really. was i day dreaming about beomgyu? hell yes i am :))
▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞▞
It was too early to break your heart, but leave it to Beomgyu to make that happen.
"Y/N, i- I didn't think you'd be up." he stammered, slightly panicked.
He was right. Usually, you'd stay dead asleep on Saturdays until noon since they were your only days off. But you noticed that his bedside was still cold, and your heart sank. It hadn't been the first time you woke in the early morning to find him missing. But today would be the last time. You were tired of waking up to an empty bed.
"I didn't mean to wake you so early, bab-,"
"Don't call me that," you interrupt. That's when Beomgyu sees it—the finality in your eyes. Still full of sleep, but he can tell something's different.
"Are you okay, y/n? I'm sorry I didn't come home last night. I was just so tired after practice, and so i-" you cut him off again.
"You don't have to do that, you know? You don't have to lie. I know you weren't at the dorms. Yeonjun told me you went out."
Strangled silence grew in place of your admission. You stared Beomgyu down, hoping he would just confess. Maybe if you pretended to be strong, he wouldn't see how badly your heart was about to break. Perhaps he would just own up to it, and maybe you would forgive him.
Beomgyu looked back at you with uncertainty swimming in his eyes. What could he say when you've already caught on? He knew he couldn't hide it from you forever, but a part of him thought he could have both. Have a person waiting on him at home and a fling to keep him excited when the stress was too much to bear.
He never thought he would cheat on you. It was only one kiss...at first. Then it was lingering touches and meeting up in between schedules. Areum was still only a trainee, but he felt understood for the first time in so long. He never had to hear the slight nagging for attention or the constant pleas for dates from her, like he did from you. Beomgyu was busy, and so was she. They respected that and made do with the time they did have for each other.
That, however, meant no time for you, not that he cared at the time. But now he's caught and didn't have the guts to confess.
You swallowed the knot in your throat and forced yourself to look away from his eyes.
"When did I stop being enough for you?" you sternly whispered.
"Don't say that y/n; you are enough."
"Then where did you go last night, huh?" feeling the anger rise in you, "If I am enough, why weren't you at dorms or here with me?"
"It was just a mistake y/n! It didn't mean anything, I swear!"
"You say it, but you really mean her, right? That girl you told me not to worry about." your voice cracking slightly.
He blinked before he realized what he had said.
"No, y/n, I just-- I just meant," he faltered, but you weren't going to give him a chance.
"Leave. Just fucking leave. I don't want to see you anymore." By now, the tears were flowing, making your voice thick with pain. Beomgyu clenched his fists, crossing the room and kneeling in front of you, vying for your attention.
"Please, let's talk about this. I can explain." he pleaded, but his time was up. His alarm ringing broke through the sound of your crying, signaling it was time for him to head to practice. Beomgyu was torn now.
"You can go. Don't worry, I'll pack up your stuff and leave it outside my door. You can pick it up tonight." turning away from him, for what felt like the last time, and opting to lie down so you could get back to sleep.
He stayed kneeling for a few moments, feeling whatever love he had left for you chipping away at his heart. Finally, after forever passed, he dragged himself up from the floor and made his way to the bedroom door, turning around one last time, "You were always enough, y/n."
You soon hear the front door shut and feel the rest of your heart splinter into pieces.

Tumblr media
"Hey, how did you sleep?" Soobin's question was innocent enough, but when he'd finally turned around to see you, he couldn't stop the small gasp that left his mouth. "Ah... on second thought... let me make some coffee." He shifted only slightly to be able to reach the coffee machine. You situated yourself on the counter and rested your head against your arms. Beneath you, you could feel the cold marble against your nose while Soobin continued on breakfast.
"Those people are working me to the bone," you muttered, thinking back to how your boss had dropped a whole new stack of files in front of you just when you finished the previous one. You were even looking forward to spending that extra time with your husband but, yet, here you were, slowly dozing off. But, your sleepiness was put on hold when you heard two plates being placed down, followed by two mugs. You felt a soft kiss press against the back of your head and it was like energy had been transferred into you. You sat up and marveled at the breakfast in front of you.
"Well, your vacation is coming up soon, so let's tough out our work together," Soobin grins and takes the seat next to you. "The first step is always a good breakfast," he urges you to eat and you took the first bite.
"Ah... delicious as always," you sighed dreamily. "Are you sure I'm not still dreaming? How did I end up with such a good husband?" You said between bites.
"Oh, come on now, any good spouse would do the same," Soobin, although a bit bashful, kept his attention on you. "You've been working overtime too, make sure you take care of yourself when you're at work! I prepared your lunch over there too, it's by your workbag," he says. You turned to him, mug still against your lips, and your eyes said it all.
"I really do have a perfect husband."
"And I a perfect spouse," Soobin chuckles. You turned away only to focus on eating. Sure, overtime was slowly killing you, but it would all be worth it once your paycheck rolls in. You already have the plane tickets in your purse, all you needed was a little more so that you and Soobin could splurge once you both go on that long-deserved vacation.

a/n — because of 230610 beomgyu need I say more. + this kind of sucks idk why but I mean I need the idea out of my drafts sorry y'all
Tumblr media
“beomgyu, please.”
your fingers were gripping beomgyu's jacket— your lips burned from the previous make out session you absolutely regretted, lipstick smeared and desperation fluttering with your pretty eyelashes as you pleaded, blinking at beomgyu. “just a few seconds, I can't let him see me.”
you'd just ‘ran away’ from a guy beomgyu had set you up with— or at least tried to— after realizing he was a terrible kisser with a lot of opinions that would be better off inside his mind. and you were fed up with the constant ‘girls aren't good kissers without experience’ opinion he had, right after calling you a good kisser. he had completely messed up your make up, abruptly landing a kiss on your lips right in the middle of the dance floor. hot bodies against each other and blaring music, causing you an overload of senses.
your eyes stared at beomgyu, who was tall enough, especially with the platform boots he wore tonight. so even with you holding him down, gripping him for dear life wasn't enough to make the two of you see eye to eye. he ran his thumb over your eyebrow with a smile, his fingers adorned in silver rings felt cold against your skin— your eyes absorbing his appearance, your heart beating with anxiety.
“aren't you cute,” he chuckled, making you let out a panicked giggle, “you want me that bad?”
“don't get ahead of yourself,” you stood to your toes, your action making beomgyu lace his finger around your waist in support, “i don't want you, I need you.”
now, that sounded completely different in your head. you needed him to save your ass, you didn't need him in that way. not charming old beomgyu, who kicked the back of your knees when you'd be walking to class. not beomgyu, who'd scrunch up his face everytime you'd walk past and ask if you've taken a shower, especially when your hair were obviously wet. not beomgyu, who'd smack your head from behind and point to the closest person near the two of you when you'd ask, “what the fuck, gyu!?”
so what was it about this beomgyu, the beomgyu who was humming at you and tracing your skin with his initial, the beomgyu whose eyelashes you insisted to do before the party because you realized that he had amazing lashes. the beomgyu who was lazily blinking at you, a blush creeping on his cheeks, adam's apple trembling, “need?”
“you heard me,” but you decided this beomgyu was different, this wasn't the same beomgyu at all. no, his eyes looked different in the flashing lights, his fingers moved up and down your back like he was trying to earn a reaction out of you, but it wasn't working at all, especially when you tightened your grip around his collar in desperation.
and it probably meant something that your first instinct was to look for beomgyu when that horrible kiss happened, and you suddenly realized that staring at his face. beomgyu scrunched his nose at you.
“please.” you said as you turned your head, checking to see if anyone came around the corner looking for you.
“and what's in it for me?”
you were starting to get impatient. you started tapping the floor with your foot, shaking him slightly with a whine, nervously pink in the cheeks. “alright, alright,” he pulled you against the wall right beside the two of you as he heard someone say your name right behind the corner, “but you owe me.”
“anything,” you giggled as he put his arms next to your face against the wall, his body hiding you. he had his eyes closed, forehead against yours, and you could feel your heartbeat chatter your teeth as the echoing of your name got closer.
but somehow, you were still not satisfied.
anyone could still peak over beomgyu's shoulder and see you, your bold make up and your recognizable face. “beom,” you whispered, your breath falling on his lips, the footsteps growing closer, “what if—”
but then he cut you off, lips on your own, a hand guiding your thigh around his hips; he had you pinned. the scent of smoke made its way up your nose as he mumbled, eyes slowly opening, causing his eyelashes to flutter against your cheeks. “hand. hair.”
immediately, you snaked your hands up his hair, unusually soft and—well, they smelled good. the image you had of beomgyu as the annoying asshole who picked on you in the halls was merging into something else, like ripples of water settling down to show a proper picture. beomgyu was holding you in a way you've never been held, his voice humming and his lips in a smile against yours.
and was it that bad to admit that he was getting you more nervous than being found by the guy you were trying to avoid? he'd mutter a little ‘ah!’ that would travel like current throughout your body, especially when you'd turn your head to check if anyone would find you like this; pinned against the wall, eyelids shut tight, his hands underneath your blouse and on your skin. and the idea of that made your face turn redder than the whimpers beomgyu was letting out to tease the fuck out of you.
“you're such a shit kisser,” he mumbled with a giggle that definitely sounded like he felt the opposite, when someone turned around the corner, calling beomgyu's name.
“gyu—oh, fuck.”
beomgyu placed a hand on the back of your neck as he turned, gently nudging your face into his shoulder. “yeah? dude, I'm busy?”
“yeah. shit— I mean, yeah.” then with a stutter at beomgyu's annoyed expression, he continued, “have you seen y/n anywhere?”
“the fuck, dude?”
“nevermind.”
and as the body turned around the corner, beomgyu turned to you with a raised eyebrow. “you can look up now.”
and he saw your face— lips puffy, sweat beading underneath your eyes, panting from the adrenaline, hair disheveled from the friction against the wall— you were a mess. and you were laughing like a maniac.
“dude, you're good,” you just chuckled as beomgyu cocked his head to the side, tongue in cheek. “like me that much?”
“beomgyu, no!”
“mhm, then let go of me.”
and that's when you realized you still had his hair in your hands, your forehead against his, and your legs around him. you muttered a defeated fuck, standing to your feet and getting ready to walk away, cheeks burning.
“hey,” he asked, pouting as he bent lower to look at you, “no thank you kiss for me?”
“is that what I owe you?”
he thought for a second as he clicked his tongue, back leaning against the wall as he thrust his hands into his pockets. “mhm,” he finally nodded, tapping his lips which were glittering from your lipgloss.
“right here.”

Ever since Soobin had gotten up and chose to wear that t-shirt— the one you specifically loved on him— you had been craving for his attention. You were sitting on the couch scrolling through your phone and he was standing by the table looking through some important papers or something.
You usually weren’t a clingy partner, but you had your moments where you just wanted a hug from him. This was one of those moments. You just wanted to steal his attention away from those papers.
Your bottom lip jutted out slightly as you looked at him. He was listening to music and humming slightly, slouching forward while skimming the words on each piece of paper. It was unfair that he could look so cute while doing such mundane tasks. You stood up.
“Hey…” You murmured as your hands slipped around his waist and your cheek bumped against his back softly.
“Hey.” He echoed, a small smile appearing on his face.
“Are you busy?”
“Not really… why?” You had stolen all of his attention at this point as the papers he was once studying lay abandoned on the table. He turned around so you were hugging him frontways now. Your head still didn’t reach higher than his chest, and the height difference always made him giggle.
“I couldn’t steal just… 1 kiss from you, could I?” You asked as if it was a bad deal for Soobin.
“You can steal as many as you’d like.” He proposed, leaning down so you were both eye level. His heart shaped lips formed into a pretty smile, adorned with a dimple on his cheek. You kissed his dimple first before reaching his lips. Attention successfully stolen.

3:31PM — first love!soobin 💌
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moments of how our First Love couple came to meet.
haven’t read the first love series yet? you can catch up here.
Tumblr media
Friday, May 14th, 2021
Soobin had just finished his last class of the day, and as he exited the classroom, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders. Just one more week of classes, then it was another year down. The beginning of the fall semester was already looming in the back of his mind, but he tried to shrug it off. Class just let out, don’t think about next semester. That’s what he imagined Yeonjun would say if he were with him.
The boy plucked his phone out of his pocket as he walked the sidewalks of campus back to his dorm. He tapped his passcode in, opening his messages with his roommate.
soobin: are you at the dorm yet?
yeonjun: yeah, what’s up?
soobin: i was thinking pizza for dinner, want to split? 🍕
yeonjun: i’m in
yeonjun: i was thinking of going into the city tomorrow to shop for some summer clothes. wanna join? it’s just me and a friend from my songwriting class going
Soobin took a second to think it over. He always got a little nervous meeting Yeonjun’s friends. Soobin himself was naturally an introvert and had a hard time warming up to new people most times. On one hand, he loved having Yeonjun for a best friend because he felt more comfortable being sociable with him. But Yeonjun’s friends usually were very outgoing and it admittedly made Soobin a little self-conscious. On the other hand, he hadn’t done any shopping since the holiday season, and he could also use some new summer clothes. He figured it wouldn’t hurt to suck it up this once and go.
soobin: sure thing
The next day, the two boys got ready in the late morning and made their way to the nearest bus station. There they waited for you to show up. After a few minutes, Yeonjun decided to text you and check on how far you were.
“Oh, good. She said she’s just around the corner,” the older boy casually spoke as he locked his phone and slipped it into his back pocket. Beside him, his friend’s eyes widened slightly in confusion.
“She?”
His voice wandered off as he watched Yeonjun notice you walking up, a smile on his face. He watched his friend greet you before turning towards him, gesturing to the dumbfounded, dark-haired boy. Soobin suddenly felt out of place and self-conscious (just as he worried about) but for a different reason. He hadn’t realized Yeonjun’s friend was a girl.
“This is _________, from my Songwriting class,” the older boy introduced you to him. The name sounded familiar. He remembered Yeonjun mentioning it, but he never put two and two together to realize you were the friend they would be shopping with.
“It’s nice to meet you, Soobin,” your voice melodically greeted him.
“You too,” he nodded politely, thankful he hadn’t stumbled on those two words.
“We should get going before the bus leaves us.”
Yeonjun breezed through the awkwardness that he hadn’t even detected between you, leading your little group onto the bus. The ride went a lot smoother than Soobin had expected. You were really friendly, getting along with his and Yeonjun’s conversations easily. Though, he suspected that was because you had hung out with Yeonjun for some time over the semester. His personality had a way of rubbing off on people after a while, and that seemed to be the case with you as well. It was comforting to him in a way.
The midday shopping was fairly successful. Yeonjun had dragged the two of you throughout his favorite stores, and he found a few outfits to take home. Soobin ended up not focusing much on shopping for himself, instead engaging in conversations with you about college and how you chose to attend your school. At some point, Soobin found himself zoning out of your conversation, too distracted by your beauty. He liked the way your eyes had a twinkle to them when you spoke about something you enjoyed. He liked the way the corners of your mouth pulled into a small smile. He could tell you tried not to grin too wide, but he wondered why. Your smile was so pretty; there was no reason to hide it.
After dragging the both of you through several stores, Yeonjun finally conceded to eating a late lunch before heading back to campus. He spent most of the time telling stories that he and Soobin shared, and Soobin consequently correcting any details he messed up or over-exaggerated. You sat with them, eating your food and chuckling along with them as if you had been with them during the stories they told. It felt nice to be welcomed into a friendship like theirs.
You had originally been weary of meeting Yeonjun’s friend for the first time. Yeonjun was a great guy to hang out with, but there was always a fifty-fifty chance when meeting guys on campus. Most of them were boring, cocky, or just plain obnoxious to be around. But in rare instances there were guys like Soobin—friendly, personable, handsome . . . You liked guys like Soobin.
As the shopping trip came to an end, you mentally thanked your past self for agreeing to Yeonjun’s offer to tag along.
On the ride back to campus, the bus was more packed than in the morning. Seats were scarce, but the moment a seat became available, the two boys gestured for you to take it. After a few minutes, the businesswoman that sat beside you had got up and exited at her stop. You expectantly looked to your two friends, patting the seat beside you.
“One of you can take this seat,” you said, just trying to be polite since they had also been on their feet all day with you.
Soobin looked from you to Yeonjun, who stared back at him with a pointed look.
“Why are you looking at me?” the younger boy laughed, “Go ahead.”
“You’re older,” Soobin replied with a playful smile.
Yeonjun rolled his eyes, “Don’t try to be nice now. If it was just the two of us, you would’ve beat me for that seat.”
You chuckled at their childish back-and-forth, luckily not noticing Soobin’s ears growing pink.
“I would not,” he mumbled.
“Yes, you would.”
Soobin sighed, and the two boys continued to stand out of pure stubbornness. He glanced at you when he knew you wouldn’t catch him. She’s so pretty without even trying, he thought. The bus jolted to a stop at the campus station, and several students made their exits. The three of you brought up the rear, hopping off moments before the bus closed its doors and departed.
“I’ll see you Monday in class, right?” Yeonjun turned to you, his shopping bags clutched in one of his hands while his phone was in the other. Soobin’s one, small bag hung from his hand at his side. He stood kind of awkwardly, and his eyes seemed to wander away from you when yours met them. It felt like he wanted to say something, but couldn’t.
“Yep,” you nodded before turning to his friend, “It was really nice meeting you, Soobin.”
“Oh, yeah, it was nice meeting you, too. Get home safely,” he spoke sweetly, his smile revealing the dimple you grew to be fond of over the hours spent with him today. You hadn’t met many people with dimples as deep as his before. You liked them.
“Thanks, you too.”
And just like that, you were making your way towards the girls dormitory, getting your roommate on the phone to talk along the way. You had informed her of your day with Yeonjun, but you didn’t know beforehand about Soobin joining. So you figured she might want to know.
“Did you buy anything good? Are we gonna do a try-on haul when you get here?” she asked excitedly.
“No, I didn’t really go to shop for myself. I was mostly just a tag along,” you explained, “I actually wasn’t the only one he brought. There was a guy named Soobin, an Arts History major. He was nice.”
There was a pause over the phone, and for a moment you wondered if your connection had failed. But then your friend spoke with a hint of suspicion in her voice, “Nice? Is that all?”
“Yeah, he was nice . . . Why?” you laughed naïvely.
“I don’t know, it sounds like my little ________ has a crush.”
“Sooyoung, I just met the guy. I don’t have a crush on him,” you tried to speak with confidence, but even you weren’t one hundred percent believing of your words.
“Is he handsome?”
You sighed, kicking a pebble lightly across the sidewalk as you walked the block that lead to your dorm’s front entrance, “Yeah. He’s tall. He has broad shoulders, dark eyes, and dark hair. He reminded me a bit of an idol. He gives those vibes a bit.”
“Oh my god, you’re head over heels for this guy!” your roommate exclaimed, and you could only laugh incredulously at her accusation.
“Sooyoung, would you get a grip? I am not!”
“You are! You may not realize it now, but you definitely like this guy. I need to meet him. We’ll need to plan a hang out with the four of us,” she said as if it was a fact.
You got to your dorm, making your way through the entrance and walking upstairs while successfully changing the topic before making it to your room. The phone call ended as you opened the door. But the conversation picked up as normal once inside. The two of you blabbed on as you chilled out, deciding on watching a movie. Though, while the movie played, you couldn’t help but think about Sooyoung’s idea. Maybe there was a way you could get Yeonjun on board with a hang out for the four of you. But how could you bring it up naturally without it seeming like a ploy to see Soobin again? You needed to think this through.
Tumblr media
“Alright, say it.”
Soobin was caught off guard, looking to his friend as the two of them walked towards their dormitory. They had just wrapped up a quick conversation about the bus running on time today, for once. But after a few moments of comfortable silence, the older of the two had made that demand, completely unprompted.
“Say what?” Soobin asked, earning an expression from Yeonjun that wordlessly said ‘don’t act stupid’.
“________. You like her, don’t you?”
If Soobin had been drinking at that very moment, he definitely would’ve spit it out. The equivalent to that at the moment was nervously stuttering on his response, “W-what? What makes you s-say that?”
“Well, the stuttering gives it away,” his friend teased, then sighed, “But you seemed so tense today. Not in a bad way, I could just tell you seemed off, like you were nervous around her.”
“I don’t like her,” Soobin simply stated, though his heart betrayed his words by beating faster at the thought of you, “We just met.”
“Okay. Maybe you don’t like her, but you think she’s really pretty, don’t you?” his friend nudged him playfully with his elbow, making him roll his eyes. His younger friend nudged him back, trying not to let his words get to him.
Of course he thought you were pretty. Anyone with eyes would agree. They would be crazy not to, or at least that’s what he thought . . . Maybe he did like you. But what was the harm in that?
“Ahhhh, I knew it,” Yeonjun grinned, claiming victory when his friend remained silent. Soobin couldn’t hide the blush creeping into his cheeks and ears. His body was terrible at hiding his feelings, he was learning.
“Even if I do, it’s not like I’ll see her around. Summer’s starting, and we won’t have similar classes next semester.”
“Must you forget that I’m the King of networking?” Yeonjun asked him as they approached the entrance to their dorms. He held the door for his roommate, continuing the conversation as they walked up the stairs to their floor, “I could easily set up another hang out with the three of us. She did say she was staying on campus for the summer.”
“But I’ll be at my parents’s house this summer,” Soobin replied. Yeonjun pinched the bridge of his nose. He was almost convinced his friend was born to think of the negatives in life.
“And it wouldn’t kill you to hop on a bus to Seoul for some shopping, or a movie, or something. I know you’re an introvert, but seriously, Soobin, you need to make a move. This could be your first real relationship!”
The taller boy scoffed, “Sure, go ahead and say that louder. I don’t think the bottom floor heard you.”
“Sorry,” his roommate bashfully apologized, but resumed his nagging as he opened the door to their room, “Look, _______ is a really cool girl. And you two seemed to hit it off really well. What could it hurt to ask her out?”
“She could reject me,” his friend deadpanned as he plopped onto his bed.
Yeonjun groaned, closing the door before resting his forehead on it in annoyance, “Fine, don’t listen to me. Do what you want.”
Soobin sat on his bed and watched his friend shrug with feigned carelessness as he sat on his own bed and proceeded to open TikTok. He started to tune out the noise from the app softly playing on the other side of the room. On his side of the room, he scrolled aimlessly through the explore page on his Instagram. Though he was mostly gazing at the images while his mind thought of you. He thought about the way you laughed at a dumb joke he told at one of the stores you went to. He didn’t remember what the joke was anymore, but he could distinctly recall the way your nose scrunched up a little when you laughed at it.
Across from him, Yeonjun’s chimed with a text message. Just like every other day, Soobin didn’t pay any attention to it; that was until Yeonjun looked up at him with a shit-eating grin on his face.
“What?” Soobin asked.
“________ just texted asking if we would like to join her and her roommate for lunch next weekend.”
She did?
“Oh. I mean, I’m down . . . if you are,” Soobin added the last part to ease the eagerness that bled through the first part when he spoke.
Yeonjun’s brows raised as if he was impressed, “Hm, I thought you said you were going to your parents’s house next weekend?”
“I can take a bus here,” was all Soobin planned to say, but the look on his roommate’s face had him adding an “Oh, shut up” for good measure.
“I didn’t say a word.”
But Yeonjun didn’t have to. They both knew in that moment that he was right. Soobin did like you. The question was, would he ever get the courage to do anything about it?

[7:14am] you don't know what possessed you to agree to be taehyun's running partner.
and yet here you were, huffing and puffing alongside him in the early morning shine.
there were many problems with this little arrangement:
first of all - taehyun would be at your house for half 6 in the morning, which you expressed was too goddamn early and you needed your beauty sleep. to which he replied you didn't need any.
secondly - his strides were bigger than yours. the benefit of having long-ass legs was that people could get places quicker. you had no such advantage. and so, it took a lot more steps just to catch up with him. between the distance of your strides and the lack of stamina you had, it was a dangerously exhausting combo.
and finally - you were convinced he was a full on positive psycho. he found all this very 'refreshing' and 'fun.' yes, to taehyun, this was a 'light' exercise. everytime you stopped for a break, he would have a giddy smile on his face as he caught his breath. he looked happy, while you felt like you were going to collapse.
"you wanna go for one last lap around the lake?" taehyun suggested enthusiastically, nudging your arm as if that would motivate you.
"no." was all you said, still catching your breath as you flopped onto the wet grass. he happily joined you.
"i don't think i'm cut-out for this life," you groaned, while he chuckled.
there were some advantages to running with taehyun, of course. one namely being that... you could admire his toned body, and the way the sheen of sweat artistically graced his face. nothing like that to wake you up in the morning.
he crossed his legs and hummed to himself, waiting for you to catch his breath.
"hey," he finally perked up, "you want to get a mcdonald's breakfast instead?"
you looked at him with, unable to comprehend the words he just spoke.
"i fucking love you by the way," you wanted to hug and kiss him for this but all you could muster was a light tap on his bicep, which he gracefully accepted with an easy laugh.
maybe you weren't regretting being taehyun's running partner, after all.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
reason #0: ...BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU DID 7 YEARS AGO
It's almost expected for little kids to dislike the opposite gender. Whether it'd be because of the deadly cooties disease, or the grossness of the opposite gender or even just innocent crushes masked as dislike - though the rule was apparent, you're socially not supposed to like people different from you.
Some boys, you remember, were often downright despicable. So you did have some reason to dislike them. However, you remember the time when one of your friends would come up to you at recess during fourth grade and go on and on about how some boy wouldn't stop pulling on her ponytail. Before you could tell her that he was mean and ugly (like a fourth grader would say to comfort their friend) she pulled hard on your arm and said something even your little brain thought was strange, "I think he likes me."
It was like ever since your friend confided in you that perhaps Mingyu from English class fancied her, four other people throughout the fourth grade pulled you aside and talked about their crushes to you.
You weren't informed about the new social change until that year. "I hate him means I like him Y/N, catch up!" your friends would tease.
Why wouldn't you believe your experienced friends? Of course you believed them...that is until fifth grade rolled around. A new kid had transferred, new to town. When you read back on your life, it was like a classic cliche.
The class hadn't started so it was still roaring with mischievous laughs and acts. As usual, you found yourself in the corner of the classroom, laying your head down on your table. But when you randomly open your eyes, you don't expect to see an unfamiliar boy (mainly because of the small town you lived in) and your lovely teacher, Mrs. Park talking.
Mrs. Park had her arms around him, and to you he looked shy - even reserved would be a word to describe him that moment.
When you squint, trying to listen to what your teacher was telling him, the boy makes direct eye contact with you and you could swear you saw the little bit of annoyance flash on his face. But you ignore it.
When the bell rings and everyone was seated at their respective assigned seats, as expected your teacher introduces the boy as a new transfer student.
"Beomgyu", you'd learn was his name.
You thought little of him, he was just a boy.
And when he was assigned to sit in the empty seat - the one behind you, you still thought little of it.
When you go to the back of your classroom to take out your bag from the cabinet, his facial expression made you feel uneasy. Why was he smiling like that? Eh, you dismissed those thoughts and again, thought little of it.
When your friend gasped, seemingly in pure horror, you thought little of it. She was always prone to dramatic outbursts you'd think to yourself at that moment.
That is, until she pulls you to the bathroom, turns you around slightly just enough for you to be able to look at the back of your head in the mirror, and says "Look."
Chewed pink bright bubblegum was stuck right in the middle of the back of your head. And at that moment, you knew you've never felt this way. Not when your mom took away your devices, not that one time your dad refused to buy you ice cream, not that one time your little sister pulled out your hair, not that one time you got yelled at by your parents, not that one time you received a bad grade for your class. Not one time have you felt this pure rage.
Deep inside, and it was almost like an instinct mind you, you knew who the culprit was. "Beomgyu."
Social expectations were never rules because when you decided you hated the person who caused you to get the worst haircut of the entirety of the fifth grade body, you knew you meant exactly what you said. You hated him. You hated Beomgyu.
Tumblr media
reason #1: ...BECAUSE YOU HATE ME
The shy reserved boy you thought you made eye contact with a year ago was nowhere to be seen. How did you even come to that conclusion in the first place? Because Beomgyu, an 11 year old, couldn't be any more opposite than the word shy. He was the life of the party. Of course, in the middle school sense. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him.
At first, you thought maybe it was the appeal of him having the new kid title. But you were proven false, because if it was, the appeal would've died long ago. And you wouldn't be hearing every other day how funny he was, how cool he was, how friendly he was, how...god, you hated him.
"Oh my god! I just got invited to Beomgyu's-", your friend, Sieun, immediately put a hand over her mouth.
And you scoff at it. You know its because you were there. At this point, the whole entirety of the school knew of this narrative - Beomgyu did not like you. Which made your blood boil because you hated him first, not the reverse. At least your friends knew the truth, that was enough for you.
"I don't care if you mention him Eun."
"I just don't get why he hates you so much...no matter what you did, isn't it a bit cruel to invite the majority of the school except you?", she sighed.
'Kay. Maybe they didn't.
"Sieun, I don’t care if he didn’t invite me. Actually, I was praying that he wouldn’t send me an invitation.”
No, that was a lie. You kind of did want to go to the birthday party, not because it was beomgyu’s but because everyone else was going. And also because it was well known at the school that Beomgyu’s parents were rich. So his house would probably be fun..
After a while of everyone getting invited except you and your friends, you had thought that at least he left your friends alone and you don’t have to feel lonely about not going. But, no. Now you’re officially the only one without a birthday invitation.
All the more reason to hate him. Especially when you did nothing to get this sort of treatment from him - you were the one wronged, not him.
reason #2: ...BECAUSE I JUST DO
When there was a month left of summer break, you start to get the weird sense of missing school. You knew once you got back in, you'd regret ever feeling school-sick. But you cherished these emotions greatly, it's a rare occurrence so why not?
It was still sunny, ice cream melting onto your hands easily. "Eighth grade will be our best year I can feel it."
You nod slowly, Sieun said this three summers in a row, none of the years being more than mediocre. But still, you appreciated your friend's insistence on a great year. Or the best year as she calls it.
The hot dirty stairs that both of your legs were making bare contact with, was annoyingly the only thing you could sit down on. The town had barely any interest in investing - even more so on one public bench.
"Hey, I'm gonna go. The sun's about to set, mom's gonna get so mad at me." she gets up removing any dirt that might be on her shorts.
You wave goodbye to her like you usually did, and she'd skip away like she usually did.
If you had known that was the last time you'd see your best friend, maybe you wouldn't have done your usual routine. And maybe you would've for a change, pulled her into a hug.
Tumblr media
It was three o'clock in the morning and you were more than tired. The yelling and panicking of getting ready so early baffled you...you weren't informed of this prior to today. But your dad was folding clothes into a bag quick than you'd ever seen him, your mom was taking care of waking you guys up and dressing formally than you'd ever did. What was the reason?
You asked your parents tons when you were in the car, but it was complete silence. You didn't want to feel anxious though, especially when your parents eyes were sparkling with what you'd find was hope. But...still. Why?
If you would've known it was because you guys would move into the city, you would've unlocked the door and ran out when you had the chance. Preferably to Sieun's house - her mom wouldn't have minded adopting you anyway.
And even more annoying than the bland white walls of the airport, the tiredness of hurried families, was the face of a boy you dreaded to see.
Beomgyu.
You can acknowledge that its been years ever since the gum incident - even the birthday incident at that and maybe the hatred didn't even derive from those anymore. Maybe it was instinctual. Was that how it worked?
Well, it had to, because you hated his face. You hated his walk. You hated his laugh if you've ever heard it. You hated his smile if you'd ever see it. You hated everything about it.
And suddenly the grogginess from waking up in the break of dawn had disappeared, because the passion that had stirred up inside you was due to pure...pure hatred and it was enough to keep you alert.
reason #1: ...BECAUSE YOU NEVER LIKED ME
When Beomgyu learned he was finally moving away from Seoul to a secluded town, he had never been happier. His parents put him through therapy to prepare for the "big" move but his excitement was over the roof. He was tired of the loudness he'd wake up to at night, he was tired of the constant police sirens, he was tired of the yelling of his stressed parents - he blamed it all on the city.
He disliked it in every sense. The school he was attending even worse. Through that school did he learn that his family was "broken" as they called it, through it did he learn how much money his family made effected the outlook of his life.
"Whachu gonna do? Run to your rich daddy and bribe the principle to expel me?"
Yeah, third graders were painfully aware of things. And they were painfully mean. He knew what they'd say was true but he wasn't ready to hear it at eight years old. So he made sure to bite the boy's fingers till it bled.
He got suspended.
So, yeah. He was happy he'd finally leave.
His small imaginative mind never knew what to expect - but it was definitely not whatever happened that day. People were so nice, he never thought they would be.
"Beomgyu, right? Wanna play tag with us during recess?"
He was sure his eyes probably were glowing with those sparkles, because he never got invited to play...not until now.
"Yeah!"
And throughout the whole day, kids would come up to him and ask him about city life. He'd lie about it, of course. When they asked if he missed his friends "back home", he'd lie again. White small lies don't hurt, especially at the benefit of people's high regard for him.
When last period of the day rolled around, he was tired. Especially after running around during recess. Can he have it in him to get more friends? He doesn't know if he can handle more..
He felt someone's eyes on him when he was talking to Mrs Park - trying to get out of introducing himself. When he looked at the person, they were 1. a girl, 2. annoyed?
He could swear he just saw you rolling your eyes at him - which brings him back to Seoul. Right back there. Was he dramatic? Yes. For a little kid devoid of attention? Not really.
He got the expected, people running to him after introducing himself (as per Mrs. Park's demands).
He also got a seat behind you, the girl who seemed to dislike him. Maybe I did something wrong? He was focused on trying to make it up to you somehow while the teacher was talking away.
He taps your shoulder and you turn to him, "This class is kinda boring heh-"
Your eyebrows furrow, really, really deep. And you turn away to face the board again.
God. Did he just make it 10x worse?
Oh no...do you hate him?
But I didn't do anything! Now he was left in his desk sulking, thinking of ways to make you not dislike him. He doesn't want to be disliked by one person, because one person can make everyone else dislike him...he doesn't think he can handle that again.
After the bell rang, some people waved bye to him. He had friends. It all felt surreal, like a dream.
That is, until he remembers you exist again.
It's his last chance to prove to you he's worthy of being liked.
When you randomly turn to look at him, he smiles. To show you that he's a nice person. But the expression on your face was mere disgust, he remembers, he's sure it was disgust.
He didn't want to do anything but cry that day, no matter how many friends he made, a person who never said a word to him made him forget about the euphoria for a day. For a day in that small town, he felt lonely just like Seoul. It was all your doing.
And after two years, he learns he has to move there again. With you by his side. The reasons why were complicated, but it had to do with his parents arguing again. Frankly, he didn't care anymore.
But what he cared about, was how you looked at him.
What he felt at the airport upon seeing you there, with the usual hatred he was sure you harbored, he couldn't help but requite it. He hated you too.
Tumblr media
reason #3: ...BECAUSE YOU STOLE MY FIRST
"Mom, why did we move without telling anyone -- MOM!", she was ignoring all questions regarding your moving. She never responded, not even negatively.
Did she even care about how you felt? How it felt leaving everything behind to somewhere completely foreign? Clearly she didn't, because she acted like everything was fine.
As it was your first day at your new school, she packed your lunch, but instead of the usual bag she'd put it she packed it in brand new lunch box. It was nothing out of ordinary, the box wasn't even the issue. It's all the little things that add up to this. The new clothing, new hairstyle, different brand soap, new bag.
It's like she wanted to erase anything you guys usually did back in the town. And it made you feel extreme fury. You felt mad at the situation, but you're sure now, looking back that you were a lot more angry than normal - but most likely due to you experiencing new hormonal changes.
"Ms. Choi's kid is coming to pick you up so you guys can walk together, go get ready."
You couldn't believe her. She knew you hated Beomgyu. You even remember shedding a few tears about being the only person not invited to his birthday in sixth grade - but all of a sudden she forgets this because she's all friendly with his mom?
What you said next was definitely hormones, you would take it back if you could, but it happened. The first time you'd ever say it, "I hate you mom." You storm out of the kitchen; it wasn't the last.
You tried leaving the house before Beomgyu showed up, but it was too late. The moment you opened the door, he was there. He awkwardly waved his hand at you, you try your best to give him a smile but ultimately fail.
The thing about you and him was that you guys never really talked, maybe a few times for a class but not out of free will. You don't know what he likes, you don't know what he does, you just know the things you used to hear in both sixth and seventh grade. And he probably doesn't know you have this hidden irrational hatred for him. Which then makes you think if you should even keep up with the strong dislike of his existence..it was just giving you a headache after all.
Yeah, no - you never dismissed a thought so fast. You thought your hatred for him would never grow because it was truly large enough as it is, but when he held a smile towards your mom saying he promised he'd "take care of you" then shutting the door, purposefully going down the steps fast, avoiding walking side by side with you...he's a fucking snake. That was what he was.
To both of yours dismay, you had to be stuck to the hip. One, because of your mothers sudden bonding, two, because none of you had made any friends. It was kind of shocking to you actually, you knew Beomgyu as this extroverted class clown kinda guy - but he was awfully quiet these past few months. You never found out the reason for his sudden change of behavior that year, but you never asked. It wasn't your position to - even when you guys could manage an hour long of free-will conversation now.
Tumblr media
After you graduated middle school, you thought they were hormones. They had to be hormones. Because there was no way.
Just no way.
That your reaction to the smile he had as he got his certificate, was something less than annoyance. More than familiarity. More than fondness. It was awe. You were in awe at his smile, at his smile at you when he flashed you a silly thumbs up.
There's no way you liked a guy. Let alone, Beomgyu. The bane of the entirety of your existence.
Tumblr media
The denial stage for you was fast as a 14 year old - you knew you liked him.
You even spent the entirety of summer with him. You'd never in your life think you'd be at his house at fourteen, talking like you were the bestest friends ever, watching movies and playing video games. You didn't even want to hide liking him anymore.
Barely a week before the both of you would start high school, you were watching a movie about it. It was a typical romance but one that resembled yours way too much for your comfort.
Maybe Beomgyu noticed too because instead of the usual unwanted commentary, he was silent. When the leads kissed, it was even more uncomfortable. Usually, you wouldn't care. You both passed through a total of three sex scenes previously, it wasn't awkward then. Why was it now?
When Beomgyu got a hold of the remote and paused it, you thought maybe he had to go to the bathroom again. But he didn't get up. He was still sitting.
"Do you - like..- want to - Should we kiss?"
You thought you would've fractured your neck with the way you turned to him, your eyes wide and your mouth still filled with popcorn.
With the way you reacted, he couldn't have been more embarrassed. He's expecting a rejection, he should've known.
So he was quick to retract, "I mean, if you don't w-want to- I'm just saying for like practi-"
"Practice?"
Looking at you expectantly, he nods quickly.
"Okay. For practice."
When he leaned in like the movies, and your hand was on the back of his neck, you were positive you liked him at fourteen. Positive, even when your teeth crashed, and when he awkwardly tried to slip in a tongue. And finally when his nose bumped into yours, you push him away laughing.
"That was so bad." but for a first kiss, you didn't care. You were giddy you got to kiss your crush, even if it was for practice.
He laughed along too, "Come on it was nice!!"
You roll your eyes, it wasn't and you knew he knew that too...but that made it all the more special. You wished this summer would go on forever.
Tumblr media
That summer had to be just a fragment of some sort of dream you had - or it had to be idealized to fit your fantasies, because Beomgyu never talked to you after it.
Did you do something wrong? Was the kiss that bad? Does he not like you anymore? Did he even like you?
You were back to square one - except this time, you were at the receiving end of the stick and you didn't know why.
And when he walked at the other side of the sidewalk just like the beginning of 8th grade, you knew you weren't friends anymore.
"Hey, what happened with you and Beomgyu?" your mom had said once, and to it you shrugged nonchalantly. Tears were going to drop if you hadn't immediately distracted yourself with something else. This was more of embarrassment than your liking for him at this point.
Your pride was hurt but it's been a while now, and you've chosen to forget it ever happened just like he did. Especially when you managed to make friends during freshman year; making it all that much easier to forget your first friendship in this city.
Unfortunately to your dismay, one of your closer friends, Soobin, had to befriend Beomgyu as well - you opted out of telling him anything regarding your history with him. It didn't matter all too much anyway. You never saw him at school.
That was until a rumor had spread, and you soon found out it was about you.
"Ya heard? The cute freshman's a horrible kisser!"
"Y/N right? Damn, that sucks."
"I don't know about you guys but I'd still hit."
The laughter that erupted were so loud, they were so goddamn loud. The tears were pouring out already, you knew who did this. You knew who created this "rumor".
"Y/N, I - ..I didn't mean for it to-", Beomgyu had caught you outside the classroom's door, or rather you caught him there. When he felt someone's gaze on him, he turned around - to find your eyes bloodshot and full of so much tears. They were glossy, and he knew that meant you heard what he heard.
But that didn't matter, the objectivity of the situation did not matter. Because whatever made you think your dislike for him reached its peak, it had just gotten worse. You hate him. You hate Beomgyu? No. You hate him so much. You hate him so so much. You despised Beomgyu.
You ignored his red knuckles and his pleading worries to explain, because when you turned away from him, going back to the cafeteria, you knew that you would do whatever it took for you to make him miserable in high school.
Tumblr media
reason #2: ...BECAUSE YOU'RE BETTER
He wanted to know his hater better - you, you're the hater by the way (if you hadn't noticed already). To try and figure out the flaws he had, he just needed to know what you excelled at and if he didn't excel at it. Because based on the article he read, "the first most likely reason for an individual to hate another for no particular reason" was a superiority complex.
He found this out the first time he'd met you in Mrs. Park's class, you were a teacher's pet. But would you really pride yourself on being one? If that was the reason for your implied superiority complex, then he'd be okay with you hating him for the rest of his life.
Okay, it was kind of fast how he got proven right, you definitely did not pride yourself on following orders (well, you did but it wasn't the biggest thing), it was your grades.
You were the smartest kid. And it wasn't the usual, "Oh, she answers the most questions in class" no, it was greater. Maybe because of the small town setting at the time but every parent knew about you.
Actually, he even fondly remembers bonding with people in his grade because you guys's parents couldn't stop comparing your grades to the top student - you. "Be more like Y/N" or "Surpass Y/N" were the phrases he gathered most students heard.
It was even more prevalent though when you guys had moved to Seoul and his mom bonded with yours. When his mom became even more fond of you, he started to get jealous. And tired.
The expectations on him from his mom were stricter than usual, granted that could be because he was going into a grade where points mattered, but he didn't care. It was still tiring, and even when for the short period of time you guys were friends, he felt jealous. Every time you'd laugh with his mom, every time you'd help her out, every time you'd be considerate towards her - because he knew that you were the daughter his mother never got to have. He knew he was less than.
And when you end up joining the band that had initially rejected him a few days ago - any hints of guilt that he still felt disappeared completely. You were taking everything away from him - that was the narrative he ended up going with.
He doesn't know if that was the reason he avoided you freshman year, but it never mattered. He was about to forgive you, he really was, he would start hanging out with you again...you should've given him a bit more time.
But of course, you end up replacing him. With someone better. Someone who was like you. And right and there, as he saw you laugh along something Soobin had said, his inferiority complex had never been more apparent.
reason #4: ...BECAUSE IT'S COMFORTING
The "plan" you had about ruining Beomgyu's high school experience, was long forgotten. Actually, it was forgotten the day you said it. You went straight home, wrote in your diary about how much you hate him and how much you want to ruin his life...you even wrote down ideas! But eh, some were illegal - you weren't risking it. Plus, you found that it was easier to go through life pretending he didn't exist.
Other than the few visits his mom would make to your house, bringing Beomgyu alongside with her, it was rare you'd see him. Now you're thanking the heavens you moved because if it was back at the old town, you would've seen this man for the rest of your life.
It's like it was almost a reminiscent of your life before Beomgyu in 5th grade, before bubblegum in your hair, the time you were truly comfortably happy.
But hey, of course, late at 3 am you strangely miss hating him. Devoting the strongest of your feelings, to him only. It was childish, you know by now. So, you snicker at the thought - how could you dislike change this much for you to miss hating someone.
Then you remembered the previous summers where you'd feel what you used to call "school-sick" (word play on home-sick). You haven't felt it since middle school, it goes away eventually. Just like this feeling you had about Beomgyu, it'll go away.
You wonder for a moment before shutting your eyelids, was the majority of the time that you spent on hating him simply for the comfort of hating him?
Tumblr media
When junior year rolled around, it felt like time flew. You quit a lot of your hobbies to focus on college applications and working on your resume. You also end up breaking up with your boyfriend of one year, Yeonjun. It wasn't a good relationship - plus, you were kind of tired of the complains you'd hear from your friends about him literally every other day.
Then you take on a temporary job of three months - it was just a barista position but you needed more work experience so why not do it in the few months of the school year you actually had time on your hands? You knew you were overdoing it but you'd have to get used to burnout soon enough anyway. ,
During your third shift, the last thirty minutes, you don't expect to see a familiar pitch black haired boy.
Ah, your arch nemesis of seven years. A classic.
"Can I get my usual?", he held a playful smile on his face; you could tell he was holding back his signature lopsided grin. He was for sure about to laugh.
You roll your eyes, managing to bite away a smile, "No one here knows your usual sir."
"I'm referring to the usual - you know, the "i'm literally gonna fucking murder you" eyes. I'm sure you know a lot about it...", he scratches the back of his head mockingly squinting at your name tag, "Ms. Y/N?"
You didn't expect it but shit, were you laughing. And he laughed with you. So, so many things were making you reminiscent. This time, it was the summer before freshman year, when you'd laugh like old best friends with Beomgyu.
"It's been a while hasn't it? Our enemy arc", you were taking off your apron. You usually closed the place thirty minutes earlier than you were supposed to, but Beomgyu had to ruin it didn't he?
He leaned against the register, turning from you, "I've been waiting for the romance one to come for a while."
And you secretly smiled.
Because you did too.
Tumblr media
reason #3: ...BECAUSE I WANT TO KISS YOU AGAIN
Beomgyu's head was on the steering wheel of the car his mom let borrow for the night, and he was overthinking. He was outside your home, patiently waiting for you to come out. You both never confirmed whatever tonight was gonna be - because for all he knew, it could be just a friendly hang out. Which would be fun, of course.
But.
He dressed too nicely for just a friendly hang out - it was obvious he was wearing formally "date" style clothing. What would you think if it was just a friendly date? Would you not talk to him for another three years? Can he even handle...
His thoughts trailed off when he heard your mom yelling good luck - and most importantly when he saw you.
This was a date.
He couldn't contain his smile when you opened the door and let an exasperated "Hi."
"Sorry, my mom was giving me a whole mini sex ed lecture. It was torture."
Normally, he could wait. He waited for a first kiss for two months. That was a long time when he was younger. If he thought about it, its like he waited for the second kiss for almost two years. If you rejected him now, it would be okay. He just knows that if he doesn't ask now, he'll never ask and that would be his biggest regret for years.
"Can I kiss you?"
When you looked at him with your doe eyes, and that smile he was dangerously devoid of seeing for years, the light nod that gave him the consent to crash his lips onto yours, it was like all the years of you hating him were worth it. It was all worth it if it meant you'd like him like he liked you.
He only ever hated you because of his immature, boyish outdated mindset.
Bothering someone you liked.
Tumblr media
reason #.EPILOGUE
"So what you're telling me is that you never dated Soobin?"
"No! He liked someone else for like five years, he never liked me like that."
Beomgyu gives you an exaggerated "what" look. Then he sighs as he runs his hand through his long, black locs.
"I thought he was my competition..."
And to that you laughed, "Your competition was Yeonjun. You could never compete with him."
"Oh my god, you dated that asshole?"
You giggle as you nod your head, remembering your relationship with your ex.
"No, but I have a question."
"Shoot", he takes a spoonful bite of your beloved mint chocolate ice cream. He controlled his facial expressions as he gulped the minty taste down - your taste buds were definitely not the same.
"Why did you put the gum in my hair?", when his eyebrows are raised like he literally doesn't know what you're talking about, you clarify, "In 5th grade. Remember? When we first met."
The dumbfounded look on his face made you teasingly slap his forearm. His eyes almost bulge out when he settles his ice cream cup on his lap, putting up two hands "I'm being serious! I don't know what you're talking about!!"
"Beomgyu, I'm being serious right now. Do you not remember or something?"
"I've never put gum in your hair. I cross my heart and swear-"
"Okay, stop. No fucking way."
No, there was no way. No way you spent hating an innocent man for 7 years.
"Then what about the "I'm a bad kisser" thing in 9th grade?"
"Oh, that was me."
Okay, maybe not so innocent.
Tumblr media
AN: Honestly, i didn't know the direction I was going with this and just kept on writing. my initial "feel" for it was more like pg rated, cutesy one sided enemies then to lovers. but yeah, that was definitely not what happened here. or at least i dont think so. i also think i rushed it at the end but i just didn't want to write any longer than i have sorry if you feel unsatisfied T-T but if you read this and you enjoyed it, you can always send a request!! this is a completely new account and i'm focusing on only writing for txt, if you have ideas, i'd like to try to make them true idk T^T

“let's keep the last one and try again.”
yeonjun blinked at you from behind the glass— his glasses were perched low on his nose, his hair was pulled into a half pony and his neck, adorned in a dainty chain, flexed as he swallowed, realizing that he felt awfully nervous to be criticized by you. he only nodded, a jingle from his piercings echoed, letting out a chuckle as he saw you tilting your head with a soft, encouraging smile.
cute, you thought to yourself as you pressed your legs together and rubbed your face, accidentally smearing your lipgloss a little beyond your lips. but it only made you look imperfectly prettier. that's what yeonjun thought, eyeing the way your lips looked— plush and soft n’ sparkly as you smiled at him.
“you're good, jun,” you hummed after his take, throwing him another smile as you shifted your focus from the computer onto him. you couldn't tell if it was the new ambiance lighting that was recently installed in the studio or just your imagination, but, was he blushing?
“thank you.” he muttered, running a finger over his bottom lip. reaching out towards the pencil, he began scribbling something on his lyric sheet. “can I try that again?”
“of course.”
you were refreshing, yeonjun thought to himself. the way you shot him encouraging nods and hums of approval— he felt like he was being highlighted in ways that he never thought could make him shy. and after another take, he saw you sucking in a breath, looking at him with a raised eyebrow, as if to say, ‘it's perfect.’
you could see him pressing his lips together. if he wasn't blushing before, he was definitely now.
“fuck,” you blinked with a slight chuckle. ironically, what you were about to say next was exactly what he felt like, ears growing pink as he fingered the pendant of the necklace around his neck, eyes glazing over your oddly sweet features.
“i've never heard anything that sounds like you before.”

11:56 ꕤ choi yeonjun
warnings : suggestive
the air around you seemed much warmer since yeonjun had entered your room. what was supposed to be an ordinary evening with friends, had turned into a secret rendezvous in your bedroom, while the others played console games in the living room. the door had closed behind you, your back now pressed against it, while yeonjun's fingers ran innocently over the skin of your hips, your top pulled up to the bottom of your bra. his lips brushed yours, tempted to finally cross the line between friendship and love, and kiss you the way he'd always dreamed of but never dared to do. your fingers mingled with the black locks of yeonjun's hair, tugging gently as you kept your eyes riveted on his rosy lips, which seemed to be calling out to you. your breathing seemed jerky, as if all the temptation in the world was making you run out of air — until he nibbles your cheek playfully, urging you to pull a little tighter on his hair. « kiss me. » he sighed against your skin, placing a kiss on the corner of your mouth. and perhaps the alcohol coursing through your veins causing you to tilt your head slightly to one side, grabbing yeonjun's tempting lips in barely a second. it was hot and passionate, rushed but addictive — until he nibbles your lip to slide his tongue warmly against yours, fighting with you to dominate the kiss. while your mouths led a wild, passionate, and hot dance, his hands slipped under your thighs to lift you off the ground, forcing you to hook your legs around his waist. and he kissed you, again and again, with more and more desire and love.
reblogs & feedbacks are highly appreciated !

[09:23 pm]: choi soobin || part 2
Tumblr media
“i’m done, i’m just gonna sleep on the damn floor,” soobin groans as he plops down on the ground, letting his back hit the wall and resting his head against it.
the two of you are currently in the process of moving into a shared apartment, and it’s going as well as one would expect: boxes everywhere, you’re both starving after hauling boxes and furniture all day, and none of the key pieces like your beds, couch or even just chairs are assembled yet.
…which means you’ll have to sleep on the floor on the first night in your new apartment. how nice.
soobin was the one that insisted on assembling it all yourselves, since getting it delivered and assembled is a scam, why would we pay someone to do that? it’s gonna be fine.
it wasn’t fine.
at first you were ecstatic to be moving in with your lifelong best friend, but now, staring at all the half-assembled pieces of furniture, little screws, metal pieces and manuals strewn all over the floor, you start to have your doubts.
“you know, if we had just payed—“
“if we had payed we would have wasted a shit ton of money, and for what?”
there is a scowl on your face, and it makes you wonder why he has such a personal vendetta against hiring someone to assemble some furniture.
“well for starters, we wouldn’t have to sleep on the stupid floor—”
“one night on the floor won’t kill us. you’re supposed to sleep on a hard surface anyways, right? it’s good for your back. i think, i dunno,” he shrugs at the end and you can’t help but snort at him.
“could you at least try to be convincing, bin?”
“listen, i’m just as pissed and tired as you. let’s just unpack some pillows and a blanket for now, and i promise we’ll work on our beds first thing in the morning.”
you observe him for a second, and only now do you notice the overwhelming exhaustion on his face. maybe sleeping on the floor isn’t so bad after all. maybe it’ll get rid of the kink in your neck.
you let out a sigh, and turn to the mountains of boxes, “fine. but you better help me look for a blanket.”
within 20 minutes the mess on the floor is made even worse by random pieces of clothes, cutlery, books and decorations strewn around. the mountains of boxes have been reduced to little hills consisting of half-empty boxes, the contents messily thrown around in the desperate search of a pillow or a blanket.
emptying another box filled with clothes and finding nothing of value you sigh and move on to the next one; a lighter box that upon opening envelops you in the warm, fluttering feeling of nostalgia.
the box is filled to the brim with childhood pictures, drawings and notebooks you filled out when you were younger, colouring books, diaries, sticker books — your entire childhood was staring back at you from that box and you can’t resist the urge to look through it all, right now.
carefully examining the contents of the box, you start by taking a closer look at the heaps of pictures, chuckling a little at the dozens of pictures of you and soobin. you and soobin during a play in kindergarten, holding hands and both of your faces painted in a wide array of colours. you and soobin on your 8th birthday, with him holding his gifts for you proudly into the camera while you’re standing next to him, most assuredly buzzing with excitement. soobin bidding you farewell for the two week camp your parents signed you up to when you were 10, both of you crying and unwilling to spend two weeks apart from each other.
“bin, come look at what found..”
“y/n, if it isn’t a soft, cuddly pillow i don’t want to—“ soobin cuts himself off when he sees the pictures in your hand, and you can tell he’s experiencing the same wave of warm nostalgia you had when you first opened the box.
he takes the pictures from your hands, sifting through them with a fond smile on his face. while he continues to go through the pictures, you focus your attention on the other things in the box.
sticking out between two wildly decorated notebooks was an envelope. upon closer inspection you can tell it’s a little older, the edges a little worn. the envelope is decorated with stickers and your name is written in confident but clumsy writing, a little heart scribbled next to your name.
you open the envelope carefully, not wanting to accidentally damage a childhood relic, especially one as cute as this. the letter inside makes you want to scream and cry thanks to the sheer cuteness of it all.
hello y/n
i like you
i will buy you an ice cream
so pleas like me back
mom says we can marry if you want
bye
there were little scribbles of cats, smiley faces, hearts and stick figures (that presumably represent you and your mysterious admirer) all over the papers, leaving little to no unoccupied space. they are delightful, and the contents of the letter are a whole different level of adorable.
you can’t help the little awww that escapes you, and soobin immediately leans over to check what has you swooning like that, when your original quest of searching for blankets and pillows seems to have been long forgotten. his eyes almost pop out his skull when he sees, no, recognises the letter.
“how could i have forgotten this? it‘s so cute,“ you mumble, and soobin snorts. “yeah, super cute how you can barely read it. i remember my mom making me practice writing it all out a few times because it was so hard to read,“ soobin chuckles and sifts through some of the other stuff in the box.
you just blink down at the letter, then up at soobin. he was so casual about it, as if it was a well-known fact. feeling your heavy stare on him he stops rummaging and meets your eyes, “…what? is there dust on my face—“
“you wrote it?“
the disbelief in your voice makes his eyebrows shoot up in surprise, nodding silently. why were you so surprised? who else would it have been, other than him?
“bin, you‘re telling me you had a crush on me and didn‘t think to tell—“
“i was like five, what does it matte—“
“yeah, you were five but you wanted to marry me! that’s a serious crush—“
he groans and snatches the letter from your hands, folding it up and fiddling it back into the envelope, “let’s just forget this, it’s history.”
you grin and pinch his cheek, making him scowl and stare at you with furrowed brows, “well, how can i know it’s history if you never told me about it?? you could still want to marry me! so tell me bin, what about me—“
“y/n please, we were five! everyone else was ‘getting married’ and you were my closest friend, okay? even if i had a crush, it doesn’t matter anymore—“
“okay, then when did it stop?“
“what?”
“the crush. when did you get over me?”
he stares at you, stammering something akin to what do you mean and why do you care, though it comes out all jumbled. he’s shaking his head in disbelief, looking at you as if you’re crazy.
“it’s just a question, bin.” your voice is soft now and he hates it; hates the fact that it makes him feel like you’re pitying him, like he’s a loser. he can practically envision you telling him that it’s your fault and not his, how he’s your best friend, how you love him but don’t see him that way — it makes his blood boil and just throws him further down the hole.
he huffs and walks over to the other side of the room, ripping open another box, all in silence.
“..soobin?“ no answer, just him rummaging through the contents of the box.
“bin, i’m sorr—“
he suddenly pulls out a blanket, and finds some pillows underneath as well. he briefly looks at you, kneeling on the floor to make a somewhat comfortable arrangement the two of you can sleep in for the night. you walk over to him and before you can react, he mumbles, “i don’t want to talk about it, okay? i‘m tired, please.“
you nod silently and go to turn off the lights when he is done building a (admittedly) rather sad looking sleeping arrangement, and as much as you want to tease him, it would probably just make him more upset. so you bite your tongue, laying down next to him and stare up at the ceiling in silence.
you‘ve slept next to each other countless times, but not once did soobin seem this hell-bent on bringing as much space as possible between you two. “night,” you mumble, fully expecting him to ignore you, but to your surprise he says it back. the two of you lay next to each other like two wood blocks, and it’s incredibly awkward. this is you and soobin, there is no awkward between you two! both of you are uneasy, and you can feel his hand twitch next to you when you readjust your position a little.
taking a deep breath your own hand slowly inches towards soobin’s, until your pinkies are touching. it takes a while for either of you to move, until soobin carefully moves his hand towards yours. then you move yours a little closer, then him, so on and so forth until you end up with your hands tightly intertwined. you were ready to fall asleep like this and pretend nothing ever happened once you wake up tomorrow. up until soobin suddenly breaks the silence, that is.
“we’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
you’re glad he can’t see your face, because you can’t help the goofy smile on your face.
“okay.”
