We all heard about the casting coach, and how suspiciously people from working class backgrounds like Micheal Jackson (yes his dad had his music connections. But essentially mj was a slave and was arguably was the first black child star unless I’m missing someone) and Walt Disney (though not as bad) are painted as monsters while the actual monsters are protected for decades

I mean look at Judy Garland, she was a sweet person and she did help the LBGT in Hollywood and supported the civil rights movement

But her “crazy” behavior makes more sense because she was sexually abused at a extremely young age

And she not the only one, Shirley Temple, the boy who played at the first LA Dennis the Manis

Oh and the Peter Pan actor (a lot of people leave out the part where ALL of Hollywood basically says he can choke and die because he was “too” Disney)

But sorry about the Gen stuff, but the false rape accusations, maybe if you guys didn’t view men (especially white ones) the same way Nazis viewed the Jews while saying all the working class men were Weinstein.

Entertainment industry has been like that since the beginning of forever, probably less so when women weren't allowed to participate but still a thing I'm sure.

As for Judy Garland it was nice to see people come out swinging in her defense when someone tried to start shit over well

Jay North (Dennis the Menace) did ok, so did Shirley Temple, plenty of others not so much, more recently we can look at Drew Barrymore and RDJ who both had fairly public meltdowns and problems.

Drew was ruined since her first film was ET and Spielberg takes care of the kids on set, going beyond the legal requirements.

He just fell into the child actor pit, where he wasn't "cute" anymore couldn't get gigs and couldn't adjust to not being in the spotlight, the way he went and nobody knowing is awful to think about still.

Jackie Coogan, on the other hand was a different story.

His parents sucked and as a result there's a series of laws named after him California's Coogan Law all about protecting the earnings of child actors from their parents. % goes into a trust iirc.

He ended up OK in the end though

The false accusation thing, #me too hurt women because #believe women was taken advantage of to such a degree that even this coming out to light

has still probably not cleared up for the trooper, and men are opting to not mentor women because of not wanting to risk a false accusation, everyone screams about how rare they are, to which I say so what, why should they assume the risk even if it's minor

Former VP Mike Pence came out and said he won't be alone with a woman that's not his wife in order to ensure that there is no possibility of someone making a claim of impropriety.

And he got this response

Why is anyone going to put their neck on the line when something like what he said is going to get this kind of response.

Maybe instead of crying about how rare false accusations are they should focus on shaming the people making them and coming up with solutions to keep them from happening.

You know instead of blaming the victims of the false accusations.

All this and so much more going on that isn't in this ask goes to the I don't blame people for not having as much sex, it's actually kinda nice too, fewer std's this way.

Reggie x Kayla x Julie (did we say that was Royal Purple?)

When Julie entered the LBGT Alliance at UCLA she never expected to find love. She had expected finding people who had similar life experiences, doing outreach, planning Pride events, and offering peer counselling when they could.

She never expected Reggie.

Reggie who was a year older and was openly bi, but confessed he'd only figured it out in the last year, so a few of his awful relatives teased him about going through a 'college phase'. Reggie who had a few dates with guys and girls, but confessed he was honestly looking for someone to connect with. Who was quiet about his family, but loud about his band. Who flirted with ease but no seriousness, just loving to make people blush and scoff at his over the top lines.

Reggie who Julie found herself falling for every meeting.

Then, to make matters worse, he came in one day, glowing and going on and on about his date the night before with Kayla. She was a dance major, openly queer, and apparently made brownies to die for.

"She has class right now, but if things keep going well, I'll bring her to the mixer next week," Reggie promised, blushing and grinning when the other members slapped his back and teased him about how smitten he already appeared.

Julie tried to be happy for him, really she did. Reggie was a great guy; he was sweet, talented, smart (Julie was relying on him to get her through entry level Calculus honestly), and he deserved to find someone who made him light up like Kayla did.

But she was also a little jealous, a little heartbroken, and resolved to either not go to the mixer or to get spectacularly drunk at it and throw herself at the first cute girl she saw.

The next Friday night, Julie decided, fuck it, she was putting on her favourite rainbow crop top and going to the mixer, broken heart be damned. She got herself a cheap drink, and started grooving on the floor of the bar the Alliance had rented out for the night.

She danced with Lilly, the adorable nonbinary person from her English class, twirled around with Mac, who was in his drag queen persona and looked fierce as fuck, and even did a turn or two with Justine who had been eyeing her since the fall but Julie had never given much thought to other than thinking she was super nice.

But then she saw Reggie walk in with a girl on his arm.

"Oh no, she's hot," Julie moaned. "Of course she's hot."

Kayla was indeed hot in her purple pastel wig, her shiny holo mini dress and mega watt smile. Reggie was looking at her like a man besotted, and Julie wondered if she could sneak off to the bar for another drink before he spotted her.

"Julie!"

No such luck. She plastered a smile on her face instead. "Reggie!" she pulled him into a half hug. "Looking good as always."

"Not as good as you darlin'," he said, her blush rivalling his own. "This is Kayla."

"So you're the infamous Julie," Kayla smirked. "I swear this one won't shut up about you. Good thing I'm not the jealous type."

"You're poly, isn't that the antithesis of being jealous?" Reggie asked.

"Not always," Julie corrected. "I'm no stranger to the open relationship myself but I still get jealous all the time."

"Well Miss Molina, you wanna dance?" Kayla asked. "I would love to talk to someone who really gets it." She pointed at Reggie. "This one is trying, but he's new to it, so it's harder for him."

Dammit, she just had to be charming and nice too didn't she?" Julie thought. Plus the fact that she was poly... well Julie's blush wasn't fadig any time soon. "As long as Reggie doesn't mind."

"Oh yes, boo hoo, I have to watch my gorgeous girlfriend dance with one of the hottest girls here, whatever shall I do?" Reggie said sarcastically. "Go have fun, but you two better save a dance for me later."

"We just might!" Kayla called out before dragging Julie to the dance floor. The girl had moves too, and Julie found herself laughing and having a ball as Kayla twirled her around, the two of them getting along like a house on fire.

"I suppose we should go back to Reg before he starts to pout!" Kayla yelled over the music. "And see if he'll buy us both drinks!"

"I bet if we pouted back enough he would!" Julie giggled.

Of course Reggie bought them drinks, and Julie begged off the next dance to sip hers slowly. Watching Reggie and Kayla on the dance floor, she still felt that pang of jealousy. But this time it was to be out there with the both of them.

Only when her drink was finished, Reggie dragged her out with him, hamming it up while Kayla hit the bathroom. Then the next dance she was caught between them, and she was sure her heart would combust with how right it felt.

She had to get out, and when the dance finished, she thumbed towards the door. "Gotta get some fresh air!" She bolted, leaning against the brick facade outside, breathing in the cool breeze, and wondering if she should cut her losses, just go home.

"Julie?"

She turned, and there was Kayla, flanked by Reggie. "You okay Jules?" he asked kindly.

"Drank too much, got kind of dizzy, think I need to call it a night," Julie lied.

"Well how about we take you home then?" Kayla offered.

"You guys can stay, have fun," Julie waved them off. "It's not far, I can get an Uber, or even walk."

"Julie all my drinks have been non-alcoholic, I'm good to drive," Reggie said.

"And we'd worry about you if we didn't make sure you got home safe," Kayla added.

Julie sighed, knowing there was no getting out of it. "Fine, let's go."

Reggie offered her his elbow, with Kayla gleefully taking the other, walking towards his truck. "Honestly I'm glad for the short night," he said. "The mixers aren't really my scene."

"Then why did you go?" Julie asked as she hopped up between them in the cab of the vehicle.

"I wanted you and Kayla to meet," Reggie replied, and started driving. "I figured you two would hit it off."

Kayla grinned. "And we did! Good thinking baby." She leaned in and pressed a sticky kiss to Julie's cheek. "At least I think so."

"Um I... yes, we did," Julie turned to Reggie. "Are you okay with that?"

He smiled. "I told you, I set it up. I like Kayla, I knew she'd like you, and well, you do. Win win."

"I like you too," Julie whispered.

"Told you so!" Kayla crowed. "You owe me five bucks!"

"Yeah yeah," Reggie grumbled, handing over the bill. "I like you too Julie. So maybe tomorrow we can sit down and figure out how this can work out for all of us?"

"Sounds good," Julie grinned.

They dropped her off soon after, and well, how good it would work was confirmed by the toe curling good night kisses Julie got before going inside.

And by the next mixer she could claim to have the hottest partners there, even if Reggie and Kayla liked to joke that they did too.

Unexpected? Sure, but Julie was so glad for it, because the unexpected led her to a love that was extraordinary, and that was better than any expectations she ever had.

My city has been having frequent and well attended Free Palestinine marches/rallies and whatever, freedom of speech blah blah blah. But, the marches pass by my work and every time I see them there are people I know FOR A FACT we're large presences at the Anti LBGT protest/rallies that are picking up in the city too. And like, it's such a weird thing to think about, especially with all the """Queers for Palestine""" signs everywhere. They don't care about you - many of them actively hate you. I just don't understand. I don't understand what I'm meant to feel, what I'm meant to do. I'm lost.

It has a lot to do with black and white thinking, imo. Israel = bad, therefore Palestine = good. Queer = good, therefore cishet = bad. They have all these strict dichotomies but they don’t actually investigate them, they just want to be on the right team, the “right side of history.” Nevermind the contradictions that you end up with by taking on this mindset. You can’t argue that LGBT rights are important and necessary human rights while also siding with organizations and groups that explicitly oppose LGBT people’s right to live.

We talk a lot about the progressive stack or the oppression pyramid, and that concept itself is highly flawed and has inherent problems, but when it comes to the glaring contradiction of things like “queers for palestine” it exists because they’re trying to put both LGBT and Muslims at the top of the stack.

You could see a tab as well--which is a game of Tic-Tac-Toe on a png of the antagonist called “Giant Shiny Bald Forehead Tic-Tac-Toe”. You could donate bits to determine what game they’ll play after the game’s completion by playing on the board.]

Happy Tag Game

I just got a new desk! So much more space :D My brother kindly helped me with a tip-run so I also have less crap in the house overall ^.^

LIFX bulbs - Mine died a few months ago, so I've been putting up with a crappy CFL which makes waking up - even in summer - really difficult and makes me feel disassociated in the evening. I've just got a new LIFX bulb; being slowly woken by a bright white light in the mornings is wonderful.

Sun puddles - Now summer is getting closer, there're more puddles of sunlight in the lounge and the desire to just curl up and sleep in them is way too strong ^.^;

My tiny balcony garden (and adjacent indoor plants). Spurred on by the new desk purchase, I went out and bought some balcony baskets, so now my "garden" consists of: a blueberry bush from last year (B/Day gift from my Mum); an unwanted tomato plant from my Uncle; two flower pots; a strawberry plant; a Bird of Paradise; a cactus, a succulent, and an Amaryllis.

Having short hair - I hate having long hair during the summer, it's hard to handle, makes my face hot and itchy and is just a PITA. So I got it cut recently, and now it's blissfully short again :D

Currently reading: Nothing; I am between worlds right now. However I got given a load of books over Xmas, so I’ll probably start with “Rain: Four Walks in English Weather“ by Melissa Harrison

Last movie at home: Wish Dragon. It’s basically “Aladdin, only the Genie is a Dragon”, but it still gave me a punch to the heart.

Sweet, savory, or spicy: Spicy. I’m having a small craving for something with ginger in it rn (although I’m still all three as and when)

Currently working on: A prompt from the Homestead’s Fall Prompt Week; as yet untitled, it’s a short story turning the concept of good/ evil being light/ dark on its head. Also the first draft of The Ruby Falls, a modern/ fix-it AU of TESIV: Oblivion.

Matt Walsh: "But, as it happens, you know, actually, as much as the left likes to claim that they're being erased -- you're erasing me -- lesbians actually are -- the category of lesbian is in fact, in reality, being erased. And, if you follow the demographic trends, in another 30, 40 years, they just won't exist anymore. And you look at the younger generations - Gen Z and Millennials - while LBGT identification has skyrocketed and trans identification has skyrocketed, lesbian identification has fallen off the cliff. And why is that?

Well, it's because every girl, every woman, who in the past would've identified themselves as a lesbian, now they're being told, that oh no, you're actually a man. You're not a lesbian, you're actually a -- not only a man, a straight man, it turns out. So this is -- if you want to talk about conversion therapy, this is, really, the only kind of conversion therapy that goes on. You know, on top of the most insidious form which is, in general, the way in which kids are recruited into the LGBT fold. But here's conversion therapy. Essentially what the left is doing is they're taking lesbian women and they are converting them into straight men or trying to, anyway."

This is an incredibly bigoted take. For one, it ignores Lesbians are still a prominent and important group within Queer Spaces. I have met a lot of Lesbians both online and irl. Though, in fairness, that is anecdotal and from personal experience. For two, it ignores the existence of Trans Lesbians who are a very, very common group within the Trans Community. Matt Walsh ignores this group because he feels that Lesbians are only AFAB Folks and Trans Women are AMAB Folks. But to ignore Trans Lesbians, a huge grouping, is to intentionally misgender and to intentionally mischaracterize. Because some "Lesbians" might find out they are Straight Trans Men. But some "Straight Men" might find out they are Trans Lesbians. So there's a transfer there that is not accounted for, due to Walsh's bias. If the drop-off of Lesbian Identification is true (which I have my doubts), there are other factors. The increase prevalence of Nonbinary Folks means that people have to stop thinking of Sexuality as a binary or even a strict binary. So if you contribute the term "Lesbian" to a Woman only loving other Women (which in fairness, not all use this definition of the term), if a person has a Nonbinary Partner they may feel inclined to identify in a different way since they are attracted to more then just the Female Gender. They still have a Queer Identity, they partially Identify with the Lesbian Label, yet there is more to it. The alleged push for Lesbians to identify as Trans Men feels anecdotal or exaggerated. It imagines the Queer Community as enforcing extremes. "You cannot be a Butch Lesbian, you must be a Trans Man." Which some corners of the Queer Community might be doing. But with the existence of Nonbinary Folk, of Gender Nonconforming Folk, etc., A lot of the Queer Community tends to avoid these narratives. With many in the Queer Community respecting/knowing that there is a spectrum of identity and even presentation. Perhaps this is my own biases and anecdotal frameworks showing through. The fear of Women becoming Trans Men, is one rooted in misogyny. These "Women" are confused and infantilized. These "Women" are being tricked by outside forces. And us, CisHet Patriarchal Folks, cannot let them take our Women. The most offensive aspect of Walsh's statements is how he downplays Conversion Therapy. People finding out that they are Trans is not "Conversion Therapy". Conversion Therapy is a real practice going on in the United States and Abroad. In many cases, Conversion Therapy is torture. Conversion Therapy is a horror that Queer People (especially Gay People AND Trans People) have been forced to undergo. When Matt Walsh says Gender Transitioning is "the only kind of Conversion Therapy that goes on" he is lying and delegitimizing horrors inflicted on the Queer Community. When Matt Walsh says Kids finding out they are Queer is "the most insidious form" of Conversion Therapy, he is lying and delegitimizing horrors inflicted on the Queer Community. Finding out you are Trans is not "Conversion Therapy". Finding out you are Trans is not torture. It is downright offensive and horrifying to imply otherwise.

Setting up the picnic had actually been easier than expected - especially when the producer whose name was either Chad or Louis seemed eager to help out. So armed with a basket full of actual food and a blanket for them to sit on, Chris found a secluded spot on the beach where the reflection of the moon was especially beautiful. It was a perfectly clear night, and while it was true that he had set the entire thing up to look like a movie for the potential investors, Chris’ feelings towards Juni were real.

And so while the scene was staged, everything else was genuine - something that felt was on brand for the show to begin with.

He had just gotten the fire perfected (after having one of the producers start it because Chris wasn’t about to learn how to do that himself) as his eyes caught Juniper walking over. “Hey,” he smiled, slowly standing up before walking over to give them a hug, “You look wonderful.”

I’m bisexual, but rather than a rebellion, why not kick off an Industrial Revolution where the kingdom population and borders is stable enough to do things such as gay marriage?

Perhaps it’s my autism, but I am so fucking tired to how emotionally stunted LBGT stuff in media is.

Gay rights yes, but nothing everything started at the stonewall riots for us.

Homosexuality was tolerated in that one already too, you're in a fictional world and a lich is going to bring a army of deadites in to destroy everything unless you stop it.

Feels like the impending doom for everyone should take the lead when it comes to things you should concentrate on.

Wild to me that people got mad at the DM on that one, can't say they weren't warned at the start and unless it was a gay marriage army of the dead you're going to get what they got.

I'd like to think someone learned a good lesson about prioritizing things from that session.

As for the rest of it, you're not alone by a long stretch.

I'm wondering how long it's gonna be till the LGBT rep in media does a big split where on one side you've got a show like Will and Grace, maybe without Jack, where the characters just happen to be gay and it's not a requirement to make a big deal out of it.

Bob comes home and kisses his husband Paul and wacky hi-jinks ensue that may or may not have anything to do with them being gay.

Take "Friends" and make Joey and Phoebe gay, then don't alter any part of the story other than what fiddly bits the person they date has.

New Girl but Coach is gay.

Charlies Angels but they're lesbians has probably been done, but you need to be 18+ to watch it.

Then on the flip side some show that does the over the top pandering.

See how the ratings for them work out after a couple seasons.

I have a feeling I would not be shocked by the numbers.
