Underlust gets a bad rep, not the story, the concept.
TW: Mature topics/sexual themes, and miscarriage
We can argue the about the story and its execution all day, but the concept itself is the most realistic alternate universe and possibly timeline (more on that later) of Undertale.
For some much needed background monsters in the underground need HoPe [HP] to survive. Also if I'm factually wrong on any of this please correct me, and I'd love to hear constructive criticism and/or further thoughts on this.
Underlust starts with the idea of Toriel miscarrying Asriel which causes a depression in the underground, causing more miscarriages and loss of live due to the lack of HoPe [HP]. The underground becomes underpopulated and the royal scientist makes LusT [LT] (an offshoot of LoVe [LV]) to bring the population back up. By the time the seventh human falls into the underground, LusT is still rampant.
When not pushed to the extreme, this is very realistic for Undertale. Think about the amount of kids, and considering 7 children fall after Asriel's death, let's include teens, you pass on an average playthrough of Undertale. Pushes the lack of kids/teens to the extreme, in younger portrayals of them, we could even say Papyrus and Sans might not be alive.
The concept very well could be an alternate timeline of Undertale, similar to if Asriel and Chara didn't die, or Toriel and Asgore stayed together.
Sticking to the roots of the concept (while using the existing Underlust), suddenly the underground isn't so much overly sex-crazed but trying to survive. It makes the concept closer to Horrortale than Underswap or Underfell. Although of course, it's a fandom and people are free to write/draw things how they want.
With the context of their history, Underlust becomes something solemn and a fight for life. Furthermore, in the context of the multiverse and including the general battles between Nightmare, Error, and the Stars, Lust while he may not be as fight oriented as others, is still a Sans. It's arguable that Lust may better understand HoPe and LoVe/LusT better than any of the stars, having a fight with it everyday.
To close, Underlust is criminally underrated, and I wish people wrote about the AU and Lust more, because the concept is fucking amazing.

Hello friends, life update 🍁
See tags for trigger warning.
In relation with my last life update post:
My sister had a miscarriage
We had a huge falling out (somewhat related to the first point)
I had to sell my car (technically it wasn't mine, and my sister owned half of it)
We are going to start to live separately as soon as possible (I'm trying to use my part of the money to buy an apartment)
I'm getting a raise in the next couple of months
I'm going to look for a diagnosis (I'm starting to think I also have a little bit of PTSD, it's not normal to have your heart skip a beat because you heard footsteps and doors opening)(you don't want to know why I have these reactions)
I always come back to Tumblr when my life is going downhill, and I saw the things one of my mutuals tagged me (I'm going to answer it, I just need to remember how to express myself), so I'll be more active in the near future.
If you have any tips on how to live alone/articulate my thoughts and feelings properly send them my way. I'm trying to save some cash to go back to therapy ✌🏻

The new channel 4 documentary on the miners strike is fantastic. It covers different points of view, from the striking miners, to working miners, to the women in striking communities, to the police. It also shows how the Battle of Orgreave on 18th June 1984 was planned and initiated by the police, and how the media (BBC and ITV) covered this up and showed only the police's side, while positioning them as being the victims of miners' violence (which was very minimal to non existent in reality), who simply retaliated because the "restrained...traditional British policing way" (I have to laugh) didn't work.
I also didn't know until watching this that Gareth Peirce, who represented the Guildford Four and the Birmingham Six, also defended mineworkers who were victims of police brutality at Orgreave. What a woman!
#british history#working class history#miners strike#acab#im so interested in this period of history + chose this topic specifically as part of a british history module last year#so im really glad that this docuseries was made for the 40th anniversary and i hope it is never forgotten#and i often think about how miscarriages of justice against working class british people are exactly the same as#british miscarriages of justice against irish people. i was thinking this when watching#at one point an interviewee even says something like 'obviously i'd seen this happen in northern ireland but i never expected it to#happen in england!' and the way the police acted obviously made me think of what they did in the north of ireland#and the gareth peirce connection just confirmed it. but how many people saw those connections?#how many of the miners who were beaten by police saw the same things happen to irish people but didnt care? or thought they deserved it?#this isnt to blame them..they were fed lies that the irish were terrorists...but it suggests to me that this oppression is connected#also similar is how RE the post office scandal a lot of people were shocked that british justice had failed#a man in the drama even said that it was britain and he was british and that british justice wouldnt let them down#and you just think like...do you not know what british 'justice' did to innocent irish people? do you think they deserved it?#did you think you were immune because you were british? in ireland we know there is no such thing as british justice.#but british people never seem to learn this history lesson#what a better world it would be if working class british (and irish) people could recognise our similarities and joint sufferings as a#result of the british state. its quite frustrating to watch british people constantly put faith in their gov/justice system#learn from your own history!! they dont care about you!!

So, apparently, there's this popular headcanon among bleach fans that says that Arrancar's Hollow hole somehow represents the way in which they died.
And —apparently—, in Harribel's particular case, some people have the idea that her Hollow hole being in her uterus means something like miscarriage or death during childbirth; and, consequently, her aspect of death (sacrifice) is often considered here as a sign of love.
But, knowing Kubo, I'm pretty sure it was a nod to something else:
There's a cannibalistic practice known as oophagy: It is when embryos feed on the eggs produced by the maternal ovary while still inside the mother's uterus. It seems to occur in all species of the order Lamniformes, which includes numerous species of sharks. It allows the surviving embryos to grow larger and begin to prepare for life as predators (although other records also point to genetic competition). Anyway, for the good of their species and themselves, sharks sacrifice their siblings by eating them to gain strength. Harribel's hollow hole is more like a reminder of how, in order to survive, nature forces us to make sacrifices, even if cruel.
There's nothing wrong with the childbirth headcanon, of course; but I do believe it is interesting how the fandom's interpretation is more oriented towards a more compassionate form of sacrifice, while Tite's intention was probably to show a crueler side to it— one that, unfortunately, is also meant to describe her relationship with Aizen, and how once he no longer thought she was useful, he simply tried to get rid of her. The Espada were just tools, always meant to be a sacrifice for something bigger in Aizen's plans.

Jessa had a d&c. Shouldn't that go against everything these people believe in?
I felt the same way over joy with Annabelle.
If they're gonna fight to disallow other women access to safe abortions, why should they be granted the access to safely ridding their bodies of pregnancy?? It makes me so effing mad
I know I'm terrible for feeling this way and there's probably more nuance in the argument
No you're right and Jessa is being extremely ignorant and cruel about it all on social media right now, she doesn't understand what she's talking about or why advocating for anti-choice legislature like she does could've affected her in this situation. It's actually infuriating bc it's obvious she is also voting for this stuff without having a basic understanding of it and I know that's the case for most people but thinking about that and how negatively it affects the most vulnerable women and children makes me feel insane.
I feel bad that she is grieving her miscarriage but honestly have been avoiding her and all of it bc it's just upsetting. Nothing anyone says to her is going to change her mind and I'd rather not read about how she thinks I'm a literal murderer who's going to hell anymore so.

I have to say it’s really weird that I’m all of a sudden getting anons telling me not to post about my miscarriage anymore when I’ve barely even talked about it on here recently. I know Tumblr struggles to find a happy medium between “all fetuses are disgusting parasites who use women’s bodies against their consent” and “pregnancy is the most pure and happy blessing ever and the only vocation a woman should pursue,” but y’all need to accept that shit just happens out in the real world sometimes no matter how much you want it buried away. If you’re that uncomfortable with me acknowledging that something very fucked up happened to me a few months ago and feeling compelled to vent about it every now and then, then there’s nothing stopping you from unfollowing me and looking at content that makes you feel good.

people on tiktok going all ham speculating if a certain song on midnights is about a miscarriage and here's my take: how about we stop scrutinizing every single detail of someone's private life, especially if it's such a personal matter and just appreciate the lyricism without making everything a sherlock holmes investigation

generally what i think is for a person’s own pregnancy, it’s their choice to deem the fetus a child/baby and, if the pregnancy is lost, it’s their choice to mourn that pregnancy as a child. how they view their pregnancy and/or loss is their choice and no one else’s. however, when we’re speaking generally, i do not think it’s right to equate fetuses with living babies. if it’s wrong when we discuss abortion—because i believe in abortion access at any stage, for any reason—then it’s wrong when we discuss theoretical miscarriages/stillbirths related to drug use. if the death of a fetus by choice (abortion) should not be a crime by our standards, then the death of a fetus by accident should not be either.
i understand how it can be complicated for people when regarding living children who were born addicted to drugs, but i don’t think that automatically changes. maybe sometimes the families of those children are abusive and neglectful, but in MANY cases it’s due to the circumstances of the parent’s life—drug addiction, which can be compounded by homelessness, interpersonal abuse, criminal record, etc. what we need to do is not put parents in jail for having used drugs during pregnancy, but give them access to the help and care they need to get better. getting clean from drug addiction can be deadly, and if it isn’t, it’s still terrible. it’s hard. how is it right to punish people for struggling? how is it right to make assumptions about them based purely on one fact of their life?
if we agree that a fetus should not legally be considered a living child, then that fact shouldn’t change whether the fetus dies by abortion or any other means. it will only lead to more criminalization and more governmental control over people’s bodies.
