WATCH: Goldman Is Left Stammering After He Walks Into a Wall, Bobulinksi Calls Him a Liar to His Face
Tumblr media
Democrats are having a rough time on Capitol Hill as they face off against various former business associates of the Biden family. Tony Bobulinski took center stage during the morning session, with his opening salvo targeting Rep. Jamie Raskin and Rep. Dan Goldman.
WATCH: Bobulinski Accuses Hunter and Jim Biden of Perjury, Lights Up Raskin and Goldman
youtube
In it, Bobulinski went after the two congressional members for pushing talking points meant to falsely frame the Biden family as innocent victims of their own dealings. That led to a tense scene in which Raskin interrupted the witness' opening testimony, something that normally isn't allowed to happen, leaving Chairman James Comer to bring order back to the hearing.
That leads me to Goldman's turn at questioning Bobulinski. What's so great about the former Trump impeachment lawyer turned House member is that he thinks he's smarter than he is. He truly believes he's a legal wizard who can talk people into corners, yet time and again, he beclowns himself during public hearings.
In this case, Goldman attempted to trap Bobulinski by suggesting no one ever responded to the infamous "10 percent for the Big Guy" email. Unfortunately, the former didn't have his facts straight.
As Bobulinski points out, numerous people including Hunter Biden did respond to the email. That left Goldman stammering as he then tried to spin a new conspiracy theory: That the Biden family was actually standing against the corruption being pushed by Hunter Biden's business associates.
The problem for Goldman is that he's left arguing every single person around the Bidens was corrupt except Joe and Hunter Biden. That's not a narrative that washes. Upstanding people do not surround themselves with corrupt people, and the fact that the DOJ has chosen to prosecute numerous business associates of the Bidens is evidence of selective bias, not innocence on the part of the president and his son.
For example, Goldman and his cohorts want you to believe that someone like Gal Luft has been discredited for being prosecuted for FARA violations when Hunter Biden allegedly did the exact same thing regarding his interactions with CEFC China.
SEE: DOJ Criminally Charges Gal Luft, the Missing Whistleblower Who Was Providing Information on the Bidens' China Dealings
On the contrary, the prosecution of Luft points to broader criminality among those who were leading the operation. That would be members of the Biden family, most notably Hunter Biden. Further, Goldman also has zero evidence to support the idea that Bobulinski was fired because he was corrupt but the Bidens weren't.
None of this looks good for Democrats. If you are explaining, you are losing, and Goldman isn't very good at explaining in the first place.

Seems like among all the Ashley stuff, people have forgotten that Andy and Juliet are STILL involved with Scientology, which is a homophobic, ableist, overall disgusting cult. Just because what Ashley did was much more despicable, doesn't mean we should just excuse Andy and Juliet from their shittiness. I definitely can't forgive Ashley's behavior; he's disgusting, but as a queer person with mental illness and disabilities, I also can't forgive someone for being so involved with such a damaging cult.
Scientology is a horrific organization that takes advantage of people for monetary gain. They take advantage of people who are mentally ill, addicted, lonely, or who aren’t where they want to be in their lives. So as an organization, that is not something I support. But I’ve thought a lot about it, and would their members not be victims? There is no question that the people who run it and profit from it are guilty, but the regular members are the ones being harmed by them.
It would be one thing if they were promoting it and trying to get others to join it, but neither of them has mentioned it. It’s possible that they have distanced themselves from it or even want to leave but can’t. Scientology has a way of trapping people and preventing them from speaking out or leaving. And the last thing I would want to do is cause further harm. Scientology teaches that those who speak ill of it are bad people and it helps further the isolation of their members.
As far as Andy and Juliet go, Juliet was born into it. Leaving for her could mean never seeing her family again. Leaving for Andy could mean never seeing Juliet again. I have a suspicion that they may have helped Andy with his sobriety (and maybe Juliet too). He’s said before that 2015-2016 was a very dark time for him and my worry is that that is how they ‘got in’. Now of course them getting sober is a wonderful thing. I just hope they did not use that to trap him in something he doesn’t want to be part of.
I could be completely wrong, and it’s possible one or both of them have distanced themselves from Scientology. It’s possible they are only using it for certain things but reject the more ‘cult’ side of it or even reject LRH’s views. If they are involved I hope it’s of their own free will and that they would be free to get out of it if they wanted to. I would like to see them get away from it just because of the danger associated with it and Scientoloy’s... not so great past/practices. I just don’t want to see them harmed or have to go through pain because of it.
I don’t think they share the bigoted views that LRH had or that Scientology still has in their books. I think that’s obvious by their outspokenness for LGBTQ+ rights, BLM, anti-Trump views, and embrace of science. I like to see that as evidence they don’t buy into the cult mindset. Much like there are people who are part of religions that have horrific pasts and or views, I don’t think it makes them automatically bad. They’re not spreading those views or promoting them.
If they were to do something or start promoting Scientology I would say something, but I don’t know if continuing to harp on it does much good. If they did leave we would probably never even know about.

I Will Revel in Trump’s Loss...
...but I want to make it clear Trump supporters need to be brought back into the fold. Yes they elected and tried to re-elect a white supremacists, misogynist, oligarch, but they did it because they are in pain. They wanted to hurt liberals and progressives without a thought about others pain. In fact, they have shown a huge lack of empathy and scope of the world. Their childhood and introduction into adulthood has failed them. This is a problem we must solve because it will not go away.
We are going to have to look hard about our media consumption and access to resources if we are going to heal this divide. If the Republicans and Democrats continue to play our differences for their political power we will careen into more extreme versions of Donald Trump, Proud Boys, Boogaloo, etc. It should have happened in the 90s, to be honest, but the internet provided enough novelty and entertainment that distracted us. But now that it has been weaponized and codified for propaganda, the internet can not distract or slow down these dark events. It may in fact speed them up.
Yes you are hurt. The Trump administration and their supports were vile and some of the worst of our country got enshrined in our government, but know that the pain they inflict means there is pain that they want you to know they have. We can be better and should aspire to be. Punish Trump, yes, but have compassion for the ones swept up in their desperation for someone to answer their call for aid.
Trump for some reason has a magnetic charm on these people. Not to assign magical powers to Trump, but I can not wrap my head around it. I think of myself as a pretty empathetic person but there is a...wall (for lack of a better analogy) when it comes to extending that empathy and desire to understand the supporters. And I can only concluded that they don’t even know what it is that attracts them to him only that it provides a font for dark desires. Hate and anger can be addictive (literally, studies have show adrenaline released in rage can have addictive side effects see source 1, 2) and like opioids rural America has an addiction to anger (they are always victims of someone who got more attention, more opportunities, more money, more resources. To listen to them you would think they are destitute and could barely cloth themselves. Trust there are rural poor, but they did not vote, the land owning middle to upper middle class did.) Now some of this should be taken with a grain of salt. Most Trump supporters are small business people who live stressful lives keeping their shop successful. But to be in business is to court stress almost daily. To be jealous of Amazon and Walmart, while valid in a tax and social engineering sense, doesn’t mean the life of a business person is easy. Its a constant scramble, a constant hustle, and if you don’t like it, then being in business is not for you.  Bezos and Gates are where they are because they had capital when they started and positioned their business not on a precious idea but on an industry that needed a product. Their wealth is more of an engineered phenomenon than “Doing what you love!”. Trump doesn’t do what he loves, he does what he needs to keep his family fortune invested and building capital. And his biggest customer are those who desire wealth and easy money, the desperate, the hurt, those who feel isolated. Trump Golf Clubs, Trump books, Trump University, Trump Charities, Casinos, etc all design to take that desperation and turn it into a delusion of a promise for a better life. That’s why he is compared to a snake oil salesman. He literally promises you your dreams if you invest in him while giving you nothing or worse poison.
The Trump supporters are poison and poisoned. We would be no better than him if we just stood by and let them parish, without helping them somehow. And I’m not saying a stimulus check will do it because the problem is systematic, but a wolf trapped doesn’t understand engineering. It just knows it is in pain. We have to free them. We have to help them along. This is not over. It began long ago. No brunch for me - I need to heal some souls.

The Man Behind the Caricature of the Evil Plotter: Fact vs Fiction on John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland
Costume dramas and historians love to portray him as the evil mastermind behind the coup while all the others are unwilling puppets, trapped by his commands or innocent victims but this couldn't be farther from the truth. If there is anything we have learned from this period is that no one was completely innocent and far from the black and white portrayals we've been presented of Dudley and his accomplices, including his enemies, they were very different from these. In fact, had Dudley and Mary I not been on opposite sides, they could've been allies. It was not religion that kept them apart as it was foreign policy. Dudley favored French policy over Hapsburg policy. Far from the callous and cruel man, he was one of the few who voiced opposition after James V's death, on making war on Scotland: "Seeing that God hath thus disposed his will of the said king of Scots, I thought it should not be to Your Majesty's honor that we your soldiers should make war or invade upon a dead body or upon a widow or upon a young suckling his daughter, and especially upon the time of the funeral of the said king." And needless to say after the tireless raids into Scotland, he came with an easy conclusion to this big mess: Marriage. He knew that it was pointless to try and marry Edward to Mary (who at this point was in France being groomed to be the perfect Queen Consort for the future Francis II), so he chose another bride instead, Elizabeth Valois. This wedding never took place because of the groom's early death in 1553.
Tumblr media
The Dudley family had also been very loyal to the Tudors since the first Tudor monarch, Henry VII, however with the accession of a new king who was interested in his self-image, he laid the blame on his father's policies on his most hated tax collectors -Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley (John's father). Under trumped up charges they were arrested and executed the following year.
John would follow in his path becoming another scapegoat for the Tudor family and a villain for posterity. Many of the people who had been with him (because he hadn't been the only one who made Jane Queen, the late king Edward and many in the council were in on it and they all promised to stand by Dudley no matter what) abandoned him and despite his pleas, no one came to his defense. And contrary to the image of the sweet and innocent traitor who was manipulated by the terrible men in her family, Jane actually supported her father in law and berated her own father when he didn't want to join his forces after they heard of Mary's growing popularity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the end of her days, Jane called the people "back to Christ's war".This was not the sort of image Mary -and many today- wanted to have of her cousin. When we think of Mary we think her as the power hungry resentful Catholic, but in reality she was very pragmatic and very aware of the politics that governed her kingdom, as well as its history. She knew that it was better to lay the blame on a single person (people loved villains as they do today) instead of her family. The conflict of the wars of the roses was still fresh on everyone's minds, and if her family could turn against each other, what was that to stop another country from taking advantage? A monarch who couldn't control her own household looked weak in the eyes of the world and her countrymen. So Mary crafted a new tale where her brother became an innocent boy whose strings were pulled by Dudley, and Jane an innocent and unwilling participant to her parents and father in law's schemes.
To get you a better idea of his tragic end, there is a brilliant article by Susan Higginbotham, author of Her Highness, the Traitor and The Woodvilles: http://www.susanhigginbotham.com/blog/posts/the-life-of-a-dog-the-pleas-that-failed/

Bill Clinton: The Agonizing Reappraisal
Friends, Americans, countrymen!   Lend me your ears!
I come not to merely bury William Jefferson Clinton but to drive a stake through his craven heart, chop off his diseased head, fill his lying mouth with garlic, and bury the pieces in separate crossroads.
And if you think this is coming from a traditional anti-Clinton angle, guess again, Trump chump.
I’m progressive by default, conservative by nature.  I didn’t move, the thrice-cursed GOP moved, and what they now refer to as the radical left or progressive liberalism is what used to be called “Eisenhower Republicans” back when conservatives held an iota of integrity, a shred of dignity, an ounce of compassion, a hint of civic duty.
So you fuckwits on the right can shuffle off and die for all I care.
This message is for my friends and allies in the progressive camp, of which a number are Democrats.
Folks, the time has come to publicly, formally, and officially dump Bill Clinton on the ash heap of history.
Alas, but extension this means assigning Hillary to Coventry as well; so be it.  Lay down with pigs, get up smelling like pig shit.
Hillary Clinton is indeed blameless of the multitude of crimes, sins, and shortcomings the far right attempted to hang on her -- investigated and exonerated numerous times by her political enemies -- but if she wanted a public career she should have walked away from Bill Clinton decades ago.
She’s got the stink ingrained on her now, and not just the stink but toxic radioactive mold as well.
She can still be a help backstage, mentoring young candidates, offering valuable insight and advice but her public career is over, her time is done.
Period. Full stop.
If that pisses you off, direct your ire at the appropriate target:  William Jefferson Clinton.
This fuckwit screwed the country over by not keeping his dick in his pants when he knew his political enemies were actively gunning for him.
Consider how badly screwed up that is: Imagine driving down the highway a mile or two over the speed limit when you see a police cruiser pull up behind you.
Do you: (1) Drop down to the speed limit, or (2) go faster and start zigzagging in and out of lanes without signaling?
It’s painfully clear William Jefferson Clinton suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder on par with Deplorable Donnie; the difference is Slick Willie could hide it better.
(This is doubtlessly due to their different class backgrounds:  Clinton grew up lower middle class and hence acutely aware of his precarious social status; Donnie grew up with a silver service set shoved in his mouth and an I-don’t-give-a-fuck attitude of entitlement coupled with a complete lack of empathy and introspection.)
Clinton possessed enough political savvy to know that if he wanted to benefit from public office he needed to -- in a paraphrase from Full Metal Jacket --  “afford the voters with the common courtesy of a reacharound.”
When he kept this in mind, he and Hilary managed to do some appreciable good for the country and their party.
But “:doing good” does no good if you throw away your political capital by giving opponents the opportunity to undo what you did.
Knowing his enemies were gunning for him, knowing what was at stake for himself, his family, his friends and allies, his party, his state, and eventually the country as a whole, William Jefferson Clinton recklessly engaged in conduct that exposed him and others to needless risk and opposition even if such conduct was consensual.
THIS IS THE SIGN OF A PROFOUNDLY DISTURBED PERSONALITY.
No apologies, no sweet talking, no circumlocutions, no mansplaining:  A profoundly disturbed personality.
…and one we as a nation and as progressive must walk away from forever.
Painful Truth #1: William Jefferson Clinton committed perjury and Congress would have been negligent to not impeach him.
Period. Full stop.
He should have resigned long before that.
The Democratic Party should have made him step down.
It would have ended the feverish anti-Clinton sentiment and made Al Gore the seated president in 2000 against GWBush – and doubtlessly given him the edge politically and morally in that contest.
Imagine for a moment how different the world would be on September 12, 2001 if American made a more proportional international law enforcement response to Al-Q’aeda as the criminal gang they were rather than elevate to Nazi-level quasi-statehood in order to launch the GOP’s long lusted after “war forevermore” that Dwight D. Eisenhower warned about.
Imaging achieving the same real, practical goals without destroying three nations -- Iraq, Afghanistan, and the United States -- in the process.
Imagine blocking far right efforts to deregulate banks, industry, and commerce in order to mercilessly prey on consumers, possibly preventing the housing collapse and stock market crash of 2008, or slowing the rapid out of control spiral of pollution and climate change.
We lost all that in no small part because William Jefferson Clinton, for God knows what perverse reason, refused to say he didn’t have sexual relations with Paula Jones.
Remember, what kicked off the Clinton fiasco was Jones being listed in a published article among women William Jefferson Clinton had sexual relations with, or whom he had “approached” (groped) for sexual relations.
Jones said said she went up to Clinton’s room, he dropped his trousers and asked for sex, and she fled.
In her lawsuit against those who published the article, Jones wanted Clinton to testify he had not had sex with her.
Now, a smart politician would never have gotten in such a position to begin with, but even a politician dumb enough to get caught with his pants literally down could still escape the situation by saying:  “My recollection of meeting Ms Jones is markedly different from hers, but I will confirm 100% that I did not have sexual relations with her, that anybody who says we did is a liar, and I hope she wins her lawsuit against those who defamed her.”
And boom! -- it’s over, there’s nowhere to go with that story.
But instead Clinton denied meeting her and refused to sign an affidavit much less testify.  Jones expanded her suit to include him.
The Supreme Court ruled he could be sued in a civil case while serving as president.  Again, a savvy politician would simply refuse to answer the suit, claiming legal principle.  The maximum default judgment at that time capped at $85,000 – a drop in the bucket compared to his subsequent legal bills --  and the matter would be closed.
Instead, Clinton fought.
Evidence of other affairs -- most notably Monica Lewinsky’s infamous stained dress -- came to light. He was questioned by Jones’ lawyers on this, he lied under oath, he got others to lie under oath, it was proven he did so.
Perjury:  Case closed.
(Sidebar A:  The end should have been “It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is”.  Holy shit, that’s as despicably sleazy a move as anything Deplorable Donnie has pulled, and the Democrats should have kicked Slick Willie to the curb then and there. Fortunately, they seem to have learned from this mistake.  Al Franken was a capable senator with a bright [and possibly even presidential] future ahead of him, but when he was caught inappropriately clowning around with a fellow performer, he resigned and the Democratic Party endorsed this as the appropriate response.  The result?  That avenue of inquiry has been forever blocked off, there’s nowhere for the GOP to go with it.  Franken continues to aid and advise the Democratic party behind the scenes, but he’s removed as a lightning rod.)
(Sidebar B: Further proof of Clinton’s profoundly disturbed personality is that (1) after publicly confessing in 1992 to an affair while governor and (2) promising never to do it again, and (3) knowing his enemies would go over everything he did with a fine tooth comb, he nonetheless (4) didn’t instinctively think “This is a honey trap” and press the emergency secret service button when an intern snapped her thong at him in the Oval Office.  That’s either brutal asswipe stupidity of the lowest order or a perverse thrill in dangerous behavior at the expense of others that might as well be brutal asswipe stupidity of the lowest order.)
Painful Truth #2: While the Democratic Party recognized the actual Lewinsky affair, however embarrassing, was trivial, their failure to take Clinton’s lies seriously proved fatal to their 2000-2008 goals.
“Put on our presidential kneepads” soured a lot of swing voters (and more than a few Democrats) from supporting Democratic candidates and fired up the GOP base.
It was a minor tactical skirmish that ended in an even-draw that led to a catastrophic strategic defeat, all in defense of a man undeserving of defense, a man worthy only of shame, ridicule, approbation, and condemnation followed by lifelong banishment.
Painful Truth #3:  There is a very real possibility that William Jefferson Clinton is a child rapist.
The Epstein case will kick over a lot of rocks, exposing a lot of scummy vermin squirming underneath.
We know Epstein is a pimp who traffics in underage victims.
We know Clinton (and Deplorable Donnie as well; don’t worry, I’m not letting that turd monger off the hook) was a regular and enthusiastic habitué of Epstein’s parties.
We know Clinton to be an untrustworthy liar, a convicted perjurer stripped of his law license for his own perjury and suborning perjury in others.
We cannot believe any claims on innocence on his part.
Not only can we not believe any claims of innocence, we must presume guilt by association.
If you catch a previously convicted mobster associating with other mobsters as they commit crimes, you must assume their guilt as well.  “I was in the room but didn’t participate” just doesn’t fly (harken back to Clinton’s own “I didn’t inhale”).
And by “guilt” I’m not referring to the strict legal definition -- it may indeed prove impossible to link him to a specific crime -- but the fact he willingly and eagerly associated with a known pimp at events where underage victims were sexually assaulted and raped requires us, demands us as Democrats, as progressives, as Americans to hold him culpable for the good of the party, the good of the movement, and the good of the country.
We need a symbol end to an era of bad faith politics, a door closed on a period of win-at-any-cost politics.
That generation has to pass away, replaced by a newer, better rank of public servants.
(I’m no pie-eyed idealist; I know sooner or later they will produce members who will disappoint.  But right now they’re a breath of clean, fresh, disinfecting air and we desperately need them.)
Publicly passing final judgment on Clinton seals off that branch of the contagion.  It demonstrates a willingness to confront the mess in our own house, and in dealing with that, the moral authority to deal with the mess Donnie is making.
Like Bill Cosby -- another infamous William -- Clinton must be forever shunned from the public sphere. He inflicted enough damage on the nation and the world through his perversely selfish and reckless antics.
And should there be evidence enough to convict, then throw that lying child rapist behind bars for the rest of his blighted life.
He can share a cell with Donnie.

Why I Vote Blue
Tumblr media
When Abraham Lincoln bravely embraced the liberal philosophy at the time that African American's should not be property conservatives responded by saying:
South Carolina
“...A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery.”
Mississippi
“Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery—the greatest material interest of the world...These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization.”
Louisiana
“The people of the slave holding States are bound together by the same necessity and determination to preserve African slavery.”
Alabama
“for the triumph of this new theory of Government destroys the property of the South...to gratify the lust of half-civilized Africans.”
Texas
“...in this free government all white men are and of right ought to be entitled to equal civil and political rights; that the servitude of the African race, as existing in these States, is mutually beneficial to both bond and free, and is abundantly authorized and justified by the experience of mankind, and the revealed will of the Almighty Creator, as recognized by all Christian nations; while the destruction of the existing relations between the two races, as advocated by our sectional enemies, would bring inevitable calamities upon both and desolation upon the fifteen slave-holding states....”
Conservatives are still waving the flag of these people today! To anyone who says I don't understand what that flag represents, you need to learn more history.
Source
After the Civil War, when the Democratic party was the conservative wing in this country and dominated the south, confederate veterans formed the KKK-an American terrorist group-to fight the peaceful integration of African Americans into our society. People like to bring up the KKK and Dixie Democrats to deny that the Republican party is the home of racism, but the fact is that in the 1960's the two party's switched platforms. Mainstream Democrats broke ranks with the southern Dixies and all of their conservative and racist values. The south flipped to the Republican party in support of Goldwater and his vicious attack against civil rights. LBJ won the presidency and lead Democrats toward the liberal end of the spectrum we operate on today. That is why the south, which waves the confederate flag and is a stronghold of racism today votes solidly Republican. This is also why the KKK and white nationalists vote Republican, because they find support for their causes in their policies. In fact, in at least 5 races happening right now there are self-avowed Nazis, white supremacists, and holocaust deniers running as Republicans. We have a racist Republican president who called white supremacist demonstrators “very fine people.” It's seriously hard not to see where conservative values live.
When women wanted to vote:
When women wanted to vote men lost their minds and were not having it. Truth be told, women largely had to make this happen on their own because men were hostile to the idea. As far as which party supported women's suffrage it was truly a mixed bag with lukewarm support from both sides. However, I'm focusing on ideological mindset, not party labels. It was a liberal idea to support women voting, just like it was liberal to support feminism in the 70's. Conservatives today are still using the same talking points used by anti-suffrage proponents in the 1920's.
Tumblr media
Here is a anti-suffrage political cartoon from the 1920's. This is mirrored by Senate Candidate Courtland Sykes. He doesn't want his daughters to become "career obsessed banshees who forego home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic[sic] hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the tops of a thousand tall buildings they think they could have leaped over in a single bound – had men not ‘suppressing them’."
The GOP largely embraces an anti-women platform. Trump famously claimed he had the right to grab women by the pussy at any time, and with nearly 20 accusers of sexual assault he was still elected President. Republican Todd Akin famously said “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Modern Republicans have proved that they know nothing about rape and it's not surprising given their anti-feminist platform. Republican Clayton Williams flat out said to reporters that "If it’s inevitable, just relax and enjoy it." He said he was “joking.” Even Republican women are breathtakingly ignorant of the concept of equality for women. Republican state lawmaker from Florida, Kathleen Passidomo, made the worst victim blaming statement I've ever heard in support of a school dress code: “There was an article about an 11-year-old girl who was gang-raped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed like a 21-year-old prostitute," she said. "And her parents let her attend school like that. And I think it’s incumbent upon us to create some areas where students can be safe in school and show up in proper attire so what happened in Texas doesn’t happen to our students." Notice that was in Texas, a strongly conservative state. I could literally write pages and pages of quotes against women by conservative figures. The point is that we can see very plainly the conservative minded citizens of our country are not advancing the equality of women and never have.
The Civil Rights Era
Remember when I said the parties switched platforms in the 1960's when the south supported Goldwater for President? Well, Goldwater was a serious opponent of the civil rights act, another conservative man running for president became the face of racism and anti-equality. That mans name was George C. Wallace and he made a fiery speech denouncing LBJ and the Civil Rights Act. Here are some snippets:
“It is therefore a cruel irony that the President of the United States has only yesterday signed into law the most monstrous piece of legislation ever enacted by the United States Congress.
It is a fraud, a sham, and a hoax.
This bill will live in infamy. To sign it into law at any time is tragic. To do so upon the eve of the celebration of our independence insults the intelligence of the American people.
It dishonors the memory of countless thousands of our dead who offered up their very lives in defense of principles which this bill destroys.
Never before in the history of this nation have so many human and property rights been destroyed by a single enactment of the Congress. It is an act of tyranny. It is the assassin's knife stuck in the back of liberty...
...Ministers, lawyers, teachers, newspapers, and every private citizen must guard his speech and watch his actions to avoid the deliberately imposed booby traps put into this bill. It is designed to make Federal crimes of our customs, beliefs, and traditions...
...Yet there are those who call this a good bill.
It is people like Senator Hubert Humphrey and other members of Americans for Democratic Action. It is people like Ralph McGill and other left-wing radical apologists...It was left-wing radicals who led the fight in the Senate for the so-called civil rights bill now about to enslave our nation.
We find Senator Hubert Humphrey telling the people of the United States that "non-violent" demonstrations would continue to serve a good purpose through a "long, busy and constructive summer..."
...I am having nothing to do with this so-called civil rights bill. The liberal left-wingers have passed it.”
Okay, we will stop there. If you think listening to Donald Trump makes you feel like you've entered another reality where everything immoral is cherished, then I suggest you read Wallace's full speech. It makes modern Fox News hosts sound rational. Do you think he is just the remnant of a distant past when conservatives didn't know any better? Well, let's compare his statements to modern conservatives.
Wallace called the Civil Rights Act “an Act of tryanny,” and Donald Trump called Black Lives Matter “purveyor's of hate.” In fact the knee jerk reactions of Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter deny the core issue of constant racial violence against black people in America today, both by police and right-wing terrorists.
When Wallace says that the CRA made crimes of “our customs, beliefs, and traditions,” this is echoed in the defense of the confederate flag today and confederate monuments. Conservatives deny that rejecting those symbols of slavery and oppression are a moral action, therefore denying the true dynamic and pain they cause. That's exactly what Wallace was doing by framing civil rights protections for minorities as turning traditions into crimes. Modern supporters cry about the civil war soldiers who will be dishonored, completely ignoring that their cause was dishonorable to begin with and not caring about the disrespect and fear those symbols represent for non-whites.
Wallace mocked the protests of the era and the idea that they were a force for good. What's ironic about that is that Conservatives today always talk about the non-violent methods of MLK and condemn modern protests as being violent and destructive, but that's exactly how conservatives in MLK's day talked about him. Republicans have come out strong with legislation against protesting, taking a page out of the 60's play book. On top of police brutality and violent lash back against protestors, they want to make protesting as illegal as possible.
Will Herberg in the 60's made scathing comments about MLK and his protests, “in almost every part of the country, called out their mobs on the streets, promoted “school strikes,” sit-ins, lie-ins, in explicit violation of the law and in explicit defiance of the public authority.” He spoke of King inciting anarchy and chaos.
Does this sound familiar? It should, because conservatives on Fox News have been pushing the same narrative that the left has devolved into mob rule, that they are violent people, and protests are illegitimate. The similarities go on and on. Nothing has changed.
LGBTQ
It is unquestionable that support for LGBTQ people is a liberal value, and conservatives have fought tooth and nail to resist granting these citizens fair and equal treatment both socially and legally.
Tumblr media
This graph illustrates my entire point I've been making about voting blue, about being liberal. Modern conservatives will reject the label of bigot while still rejecting homosexuality. We can see that consistently through the past liberal supported LGBTQ FIRST! Every civil rights issue you can think of was pushed by liberals first. I've laid out evidence showing where conservatives and liberals stood for some of the most important issues of our time and where they are today. Conservatives are always playing catch up. They are morally regressive, but always eventually giving in to a moral standard made in the past by liberal minded people. Now, you look at this graph and see that not even all liberals support homosexuality, but the point is not that liberals are perfect only that they are further ahead. Every value that liberals push for eventually becomes a moral standard. Democracy was a liberal idea in the face of conservative monarchists, capitalism was liberal compared to feudalism, religious freedom was a liberal idea compared to state sponsored religion. To be conservative is to be fundamentally against moving forward.
I don't vote blue for the Democratic party, the party may change, I vote for who represents the liberal spectrum. Liberal ideology has brought us everything good in this country and conservative voices have done nothing but hold us back. Whenever conservatives win it is on a campaign of fear. I vote blue because I know that one hundred years from now the people who call themselves conservatives will have accepted much of what we fight for today, but will be refusing to accept new advances. I know the liberal values of today are the values of the future.
I apologize for not going into as much detail about LGBTQ, but I felt that it’s less contested as far as who supports the movement and Pew Research shows where we are at today. It’s no secret who fights against marriage equality, and equal rights.
I hope everyone voted blue today, because you can see what a major impact it has on our lives.

i swear i was going to explode over the weekend being trapped at my parents trying to be the good child who helps when they need help
but oh my god the things i was subjected to hearing
trigger warning for so so many mentions related to US politics, racism, religion.
my father has always been a real piece of work but he has only been getting worse and worse. especially with his man crush is in charge of our country. he is so far up trumps ass he practically lives in there.
and he loves to argue. even if you dont argue back. even if you try to get away. even if you ask him to stop. he wont. he argues. and the things he says are so absurd i cant even begin to comprehend. even if i wanted to argue back he is so dense and stupid that i cant. theres not enough time in my whole life to get him to even consider any other viewpoint
here are some of the “lighter” things he stated over the weekend
he said that having too much money was a punishment to him. his logic is that having money has made him pre-diabetic.
he claims that telling him to eat healthier foods and cut out soda to avoid becoming diabetic was racist.
in fact any kind of criticism is racist. ESPECIALLY if its criticism towards him.
apparently to him every immigrant is a r*pist and a murderer. his family is mostly mexican immigrants and some of his uncles still live in mexico and visit here.
“this is AmErIcA. if you come to america you need to assimilate to being an american”
even though he totes on that america is the “land of freedom” and “the best country that lets everyone be free” he seems to think that it should be illegal to have a religion other than christianity, that religious headscarves should be banned, and that “american” should be the only language spoken.
he avidly argued that a 15-16 year old is an adult when it benefited him but he heard somewhere that “democrats want to lower the age of voting and the age of consent for sex to 16″ and his mind has suddenly changed to how even 18 is still a child.
every single gun in existence is an automatic rifle and anybody who wants any kind of gun reform is a bad person who should be shot for saying that.
he kept calling antifa n*zis and said trump supporters were their victims.
the lgbtqia+ movement apparently only exists to make everyone in america gay but also all these sexualities and genders are fake? ??
before trump was even a candidate for president, my dad was bad but he wasnt THIS level of bad. but ever since the election he has become more and more of a brainwashed supporter. he reads far-right news that spins the wrong version of things and uses out of context images, and when you show him the actual video proof that those articles are bullshit he says the video is just faked and im an idiot for falling for it.
its horrifying how trump has basically built a cult following and openly pushed them to the fascist and racist terrorist groups.

Puerto Rico Protests: Live Updates on March Against Governor
Hundreds of thousands of people have joined the protests to push for the ouster of Gov. Ricardo A. Rosselló.

Protesters filled a highway, demanding the governor’s resignation.
SAN JUAN, P.R. — Hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans filled miles of a major highway in San Juan on Monday in protest against Gov. Ricardo A. Rosselló, who has resisted persistent calls for his resignation, in what appeared to be one of the largest demonstrations the island has seen.
The highway, Expreso Las Américas, teemed with people who carried Puerto Rican flags, waved protest signs and chanted to demand the removal of Mr. Rosselló, who said on Sunday that he would not seek re-election in 2020 but would stay in office through his current term — and face possible impeachment.
Monday’s protest paralyzed San Juan, although it was not clear if organizers had reached their goal of drawing a million people — about a third of the island’s population — to the highway.
As the crowd on the highway thinned in the afternoon, people once again packed the street in front of the governor’s mansion, amassing in front of the same barricade where they have gathered for more than a week.

A series of scandalous text messages touched off the demonstrations.
Protests against Mr. Rosselló began more than a week ago, after the publication of 889 pages of a leaked group chat between the governor and his closest aides. Besides being offensive, the messages revealed a cozy relationship between the governor and former staff members who now represent special interests.
The crude messages were the final straw for Puerto Ricans who have suffered for years because of economic austerity measures and the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
President Trump called the governor ‘terrible.’
“The people of Puerto Rico like me, but the leadership is corrupt and incompetent,” Mr. Trump said during an appearance at the White House with the prime minister of Pakistan on Monday.
The president warned that leaders in Washington were wary of sending aid to Mr. Rosselló’s administration — a reason some members of the governor’s own party have cited to demand his resignation.
“The senators are not happy about it, and Congress is not happy about it,” Mr. Trump said.
Even though many Puerto Ricans agree that their government is flawed, they tend to consider Mr. Trump’s criticism offensive.
The president cited his experience holding the Miss Universe pageant twice on the island as evidence that he has “many Puerto Rican friends.”
“I have a real understanding of Puerto Rico,” he said. “I’m the best thing that ever happened to Puerto Rico.”
Mr. Rosselló continued to defend himself in a tough interview.
Perhaps in an attempt to speak directly to Mr. Trump, the governor appeared on Fox News on Monday afternoon, where the anchor Shepard Smith pressed him on his lost support: “You’re a man on an island by yourself. How long can you stay there?”
“My commitment is to follow through on some of the efforts that I established for the people of Puerto Rico,” Mr. Rosselló said in his first one-on-one interview since the political crisis began.
Asked to list the people who still back him, the governor mentioned only the mayor of rural San Sebastián, Javier Jiménez — who later said Mr. Rosselló was mistaken. Mr. Jiménez wrote on Facebook that he has not asked for the governor’s resignation only because he backs the Legislature’s taking steps toward impeachment.
Mr. Rosselló, who was freshly shaven for the appearance after months of having a beard, argued that his administration has already taken steps to combat corruption.
“We need to fix the system,” he said.

Rain showers did not deter the crowds.
Julianna Pérez and her sister, Manuela Hernández, were soaked from the rain that fell on protesters, but they said they felt invigorated by the demonstration.
“This is a new generation,” said Ms. Pérez, 24. “We are showing them that we want things done differently. We are going to eliminate partisan politics.”
She said the governor had to answer for a series of debacles, including the number of people who died after the hurricane, education funds that were steered toward favorite contractors and storm aid that went to waste.
The sisters woke up at 4 a.m. to hit the road from Ponce, in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Ms. Pérez and Ms. Hernández are convinced their journey was worth it.
“This is going to be marked in history,” Ms. Pérez said. Her sister finished her sentence: “In the history of Puerto Rico, there will be a before and after: before and after this moment.”
Estefany Bermúdez, a student, said she had never attended a protest before. She was struck by the sea of people that stretched across the highway, even in the pouring rain. People danced and sang under the downpour.
“We have to defend our rights,” Ms. Bermúdez said. “We voted for him, and he didn’t do his job well, so now he has to hear us. Now they have to hear us all over the world.”
Music stars, truckers and students — the protests are drawing people from all walks of life.
Attending the march on Monday were Puerto Ricans not only from municipalities across the island but also from the vast Puerto Rican diaspora, returning to the island to join the protests.
There were retirees, college students, waiters, electricians, truckers — groups that sometimes protest separately but rarely, if ever, together. Some marchers shared sandwiches to keep their energy up under the blazing sun. The heat index was forecast to exceed 100 degrees.
Ruth Vélez, a 62-year-old retiree, said that Hurricane Maria destroyed her house in the municipality of Bayamón, and that the government’s reconstruction program turned her down for help.
“I lived in that house for 30 years,” she said. “Now I’m on the street.”
The artists Bad Bunny, Ricky Martin, Ednita Nazario, Residente and Olga Tañón joined the crowd. Under a banner reading “#RickyGameOver, “Ms. Tañón belted out a rendition of “Preciosa,” a well-known patriotic Puerto Rican song. A moment of silence was held for the hurricane victims.
Near the front of the march, protesters held a white banner with black letters that spelled out a message for the governor, “#RickyRenuncia” and “#NiCorruptosNiCobardes” — Neither the corrupt nor the cowardly.
Marchers yelled, “Ricky, ¡renuncia, el pueblo te repudia!” — Ricky, resign, the people reject you.
Mismanagement, a recession and a botched response to Hurricane Maria are at the heart of the crisis.
The protests amount to a rejection of decades of mismanagement by leaders who always seemed to benefit while ordinary Puerto Ricans suffered. Grievances have been building up over 12 years of economic recession, a debt crisis that has prompted layoffs and cutbacks in public services and the botched response to Hurricane Maria.
The chat messages and the arrests this month of six people with ties to the Rosselló government were too much for many Puerto Ricans, who said they could no longer tolerate mocking, profanity and corruption, real or perceived, by leaders who were supposed to be fighting on their behalf in Washington and San Juan.
The capital’s biggest mall didn’t open and cruise ships turned away.
Mr. Rosselló’s defiance and decision to remain in office has only fueled protesters to stay in the streets longer. Late on Sunday, demonstrators trapped a group of mayors and lawmakers who had met with the governor, blocking them from leaving until the police intervened. The spontaneous protest took place in the upscale municipality of Guaynabo, a place typically supportive of the governor, signaling that he has few places on the island left on his side.
Ahead of Monday’s march, the biggest shopping mall in San Juan, Plaza Las Américas, announced that it would not open for the day. Some banks also were closed, and university classes were canceled.
And cruise ships were again diverted from calling at the port on Monday, keeping thousands of tourists away from small businesses in Old San Juan that depend on them.
On Monday morning, El Nuevo Día, Puerto Rico’s largest newspaper,  published a rare front-page editorial. “Governor, it’s time to listen to the people,” read the above-the-fold headline. “You must resign.”
What do the protesters want?
They want to be rid of both Mr. Rosselló and another target of their ire, the unelected oversight board created by Congress to manage the finances of the island’s government, which owes far more than it can pay to its creditors. Thousands of government workers have been laid off, services have been cut, tuition raised and schools closed as Puerto Rico has struggled to resolve the debt crisis; none of that has been popular.
Mr. Rosselló has tried at times to push back against “la junta,” as the board is known. But many Puerto Ricans lump the two together in their frustration and fury. The protesters have taken to chanting “Ricky, renuncia, y llévate a la junta” — Ricky, resign, and take the board with you.
The governor has said he will serve out his term.
Mr. Rosselló, whose term runs through 2020, said on Sunday that he would not seek re-election, but also that did not intend to resign. But some politicians have spoken of impeaching him, and legislative leaders have asked a panel of jurists to issue a recommendation on whether to pursue impeachment charges.
One complication is that Puerto Rico has no lieutenant governor to take his place. The island’s secretary of state is supposed to step in as acting governor when needed, but that post is currently vacant — and the power to fill it belongs to Mr. Rosselló, though his nominee would have to be approved by the island’s legislature. Leaders of the governing New Progressive Party are scrambling to find a candidate.
If there is no secretary of state, the governorship would go next to the secretary of justice, Wanda Vázquez Garced, but powerful legislative leaders from her party do not seem interested in having that happen.
Frances Robles and Alejandra Rosa reported from San Juan, and Patricia Mazzei from Miami.
